Outdoor Activities
Harlech Beach is a stunning stretch of uninterrupted coastline featuring grassy sand dunes and breathtaking views of the Snowdonia Mountains. Situated to the west of Snowdonia/Eryri National Park, this beach offers a perfect blend of natural beauty with the open sea on one side and the majestic slopes of Snowdonia on the other. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks with their furry friends during colder months or indulge in sunbathing and swimming when it's warmer.
Very nice beach with majestic views. Good for dog walking especially on cooler days as no need to worry about coming across too many other people or dogs if your dog doesn’t like either. The sand dunes are a bit difficult to get over but still worth it, especially if you get to catch sight of any dolphins in the distance.

I came here with friends and children for the day, the beach is very clean and well looked after, there is plenty of parking and it's reasonably priced.
Em B — Google review
Such a beautiful place to visit, it wasn't too busy either. Parking is 5min walk away and does cost ( please note this machine is coins or app payments only) has a small loo block on the carpark ( not the best imo) but the sand dunes and beach make up for that.
Kirsty M — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous stretch of sand. Very secluded places too, if that’s what you’re looking for. Car parking close by and there’s also public toilets. There’s just so much room for everyone on this beach. One of the most beautiful stretches of sand in the UK. There’s also usually a nice cooling breeze.
Tom — Google review
Absolutely lovely beach with lovely dunes. The sand is very fine and soft to walk on. Best beach I’ve been to in the UK. Parking is very cheap. 100% recommend.
Lex B — Google review
Beautiful sand dunes and mountains in background. Car park and toilets. Nearest shop about 10 minute walk. We went in September- barely anyone there. Fabulous!
Nicola B — Google review
Absolutely beautiful, onlg downside is you have to walk a long way into the water to get to a spot deep enough to swim.
Ehsan — Google review
What a lovely beach. It wasn't crowded and we didn't have to walk far from car

Morfa Harlech National Nature Reserve

Nature preserve
Morfa Harlech National Nature Reserve is a stunning coastal area with beautiful sand dunes and an expansive beach. The reserve is home to the buried wreckage of the Maid of Harlech, a WWII fighter plane that only surfaces once every few years. The beach is perfect for children to play and adults to relax, with dog restriction areas in place. Visitors can enjoy walks through the dunes and take in stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 is amazing all around, but this beach is such a gem 💎, is huge beach and soft sand all around it. Around 7 min walk from the payable car park (there are toilets too). Shop around 15 walk from the beach (working till 22.00 at least workdays)
Anastasija Z — Google review
Atmospheric coastal area with walks through the sand dunes to the expansive beach. Stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Quite sad to see the dilapidated buildings inland but they are apparently due to be renovated.
Andrew T — Google review
Undoubtedly one of the best beaches in the area.
Sher M — Google review
Beautiful beach. Got lost in the dunes trying to find it 🤣

Royal St. David's Golf Club

4.5

Golf club
Royal St. David's Golf Club, located in Harlech, North Wales, is a renowned course with a rich history. It was once frequented by Edward VIII and offers stunning views of the sea and mountains, as well as the impressive Harlech Castle. The back nine holes provide a challenging and dramatic golfing experience compared to the flatter front nine.
Great course with great views looking back to the castle. Tough with the cross wind on the opening few holes. Only managed 12 holes with the extreme rain they had as it became unplayable with lots of standing water but will be back to have another round. Burger and chips was nice and the barman got me a drink which was good of him. Showers nice and hot. Wanted to purchase something from the pro shop after around 1pm but he had nipped out and to see if they would honor a complimentary round given I had not completed mine.
Steve — Google review
Loved this course, great condition and in the shadow of the castle all day. We were so lucky with 25 degree day and no wind, bunkers perfectly placed despite your shot shape at landing zones for good standard players. Very deep Sandy pitts which really defend the course as advancing the ball is hard even from fairway bunkers. Lovely course, well worth a visit.
Mike T — Google review
The course was in absolutely stunning condition and the staff were fantastic. We found it to be an extremely friendly club and the great food/merchandise is very well priced. The layout is superb, helped in our case by great weather and very little wind. I can't wait to pay another visit to Royal St. Davids GC.
Phil B — Google review
In the top 100 for good reason and one of the great west coast courses. Possibly the best value for money course within a couple of hours drive of the midlands & northwest. Treat yourself to a round on this championship course and fall in love with top quality links golf.
Golf H — Google review
We played in one of their opens. Travel time and tee time weren't ideal so we opted to stay over, on site, in their dormy accommodation. We got there, the clubhouse was still open, because there was still golfers out on the course, so we were able to get some tea there. Our room was clean and served it's purpose. In the morning we enjoyed a cooked breakfast prior to our round. The staff were nice and accommodating. The course was in good condition and some of the holes have nice views. Outside of their control, but the derelict building really spoils the view of the elevated par 4 16th (i think?)

Excellent course and quite challenging.... greens in superb condition

Played the Seniors Open and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Well organised and the course was a delight. Well set out amongst the dunes and a good test of golf. Greens good and not silly fast and course maintained well. Will definitely be back next year.

Excellent course conditions given the warm and dry weather this year. Very challenging and we made a few sandcastles to begin with, but had a great round avoiding the bunkers!

Nestled in a charming location, Hafan Artro offers a delightful escape with its cozy rooms, including one featuring an elegant four-poster bed. This warm hotel boasts a restaurant and bar where guests can enjoy hearty meals and refreshing drinks. Many visitors have found it to be the perfect retreat from camping, appreciating the spacious accommodations and thoughtful touches like complimentary water and snacks.
Food was delicious, and good value for the portion size you get. Staff were friendly and polite and food was served within a very reasonable time. The garden was immaculate aswell, lovely place to stop and eat

Terrible Sunday lunch. Some veg were still partially frozen! It was cleary mostly cooked earlier and reheated. Pretty much every aspect was awful. Staff were friendly. Some nosy woman (manager?) made a ridiculous comment about us being compensated with free drinks but still eating food. Yes, we paid £34 and were so starving after a long, wet walk that we even ate that terrible food!
Peter D — Google review
We ate here today - the roasts were fantastic, good variety of veg and quality ingredients. Unlike a lot of places the food actually arrived hot! Best roast we’ve had out for ages

An absolute treasure find. Had Sunday lunch. It was one of the best I've had for a long time. The meat was freshly cooked, as we're the vegetables which did not seem to have been microwaved!! The food was hot and wel presented, portions were more than adequate and the prices were fair. Oh and our 3 dogs were welcomed in the bar area. The garden area was also a treasure. Well kept and pretty. We'll hopefully be visiting again before we leave.

This was the first time we'd taken our 16-month-old Collie to a hotel, and we weren't sure how it would go. He loved it, and so did we. The room was comfortable and spacious. The garden was big enough for him to explore and play fetch. The staff were friendly and happy to help with our requests, which made it easier for our dog. Nearby Harlech Castle and Beach are great places to visit with the family. We'll stay here again.

We loved our one night stay as a break from camping.Rooms are specious, big bathroom, lovely touch with water for guests, and some snacks.Great information from owners about area, history, attractions. Pub was very busy and run out of food, we went to Victoria Inn for meal(with advice from staff). Room what we had is very warm, bed is quite low, be careful on your head if you are tall(I am not!). We would definitely back to explore more local area .
Izabela W — Google review
Will definitely return. The only thing that stops a 5 star review is the lack of breakfast, but otherwise, lovely place with nice rooms and extensive gardens. Dog friendly too.
Andrew K — Google review
Lovely pub, we always come to whilst visiting, food lovely, but could be a bit more varied (a steak on the menu would be awesome) apart from that can't fault the slplace. Staff very helpful clean pub.
