The Lviv National Opera, a grand theater established in 1900, boasts an elaborate facade with columns and hosts captivating opera and ballet productions. Situated near Rynok Square, the opera house is surrounded by notable landmarks such as the Armenian Church, St. George's Cathedral, and the High Castle Mountain.
A beautiful and historic opera house, with an ornate marble interior, a classic theatre with balconies, and the only 'sloping' stage I have ever seen. They put on high quality operas, with very professional casts and costumes even in wartime. Of course almost all of them are in Ukrainian or Italian, but it's still worth a visit for the experience. The price is around 500-600 UAH for a seat in the 'stalls'. If it's a midweek performance you can usually get a ticket just before the show from the box office, no need to book online.

We visited on a rainy day — the building looked absolutely beautiful and magical in the rain.

We were able to go in an watch auditions, but there were no shows the week we were there. It is beautiful. You can hear the singers several blocks away. Long before you see the building.

Really pretty architecture, a centre piece and must see of lviv
Varjagen — Google review
We just visited the place .. didn't enter inside. The place itself is very beautiful and calm right in the middle of road .. giving an extreme importance to the architecture. Captured a ton of photos on front of the building. With its majestic beauty behind . There are lots of places to sit and walk around. There are photographers who will take splendid photos for you to keep as a memory.

Historical building with absolutly amazing interior and style. The entrance costs only few euros (100 hryvias) which is more than affordable for the touch and sense of the Grandeur of old times.-)

Liviv is second great city in Ukraine . I really like the streets here and the vibe . Lviv National Opera is right in the center of the liviv and amazıng monument here . You can just walk without taking picture of it.

Fantastic Opera House! The music is incredible. The acting and singing were top notch! Tickets are anywhere from 50 Ukrainian to 500 for a normal show on Sunday evening. They serve drinks inside which are a bit pricey (200 Ukrainian) as to be expected 🤷‍♂️ It's worth the ticket to see the inside of this amazing building 🤩💞

Gas Lamp is a unique pub in Lviv that pays homage to the inventors of gas lamps. The establishment boasts one of the largest collections of gas lamps in Europe and offers a buzzing atmosphere in the city center. Visitors can sip on drinks while witnessing explosions and experiments taking place around them. Additionally, there is a military-themed restaurant called Kryivka, where waiters dressed in traditional military costumes escort guests to their tables. To enter, visitors must recite a special secret greeting.
The food was a bit greasy but overall fine. The infused drinks were delicious – I even bought some for myself. I particularly liked the apple-cinnamon and coffee flavors. The service was excellent, with very attentive and friendly staff. I recommend this place for those who appreciate tasty drinks and great service!
Tetiana A — Google review
Gasova Lampa is a unique and beautiful restaurant with a cool historical theme. The place is filled with old gas lamps, and the atmosphere is very cozy. We enjoyed the food, and the drinks served in test tubes were a fun touch. The view from the top floor was also amazing. A great spot to visit in Lviv!
Mariam M — Google review
What a cool place and so much history. It’s literally where the gas lamp was created and manufactured. So the whole place is filled with gas lamps. Wouldn’t say the smell is really pleasant. But it’s an experience. We had the shot tester that is brought in those ampules and the potato sausages fry. Very good. And look how they bring salt and pepper. You literally can grind up some fresh pepper.
Veronica D — Google review
Unique atmosphere, friendly staff and interesting way of serving, especially drinks. Food nice, but in the menu beside some dishes should be 'banana for a scale". Anyway, nice experience, and I'll be back with friends, when they stop to worry about war. Don't take me wrong - there IS war, but not in the Lviv.
Adam R — Google review
One of the most atmospheric places in the old town. Interesting choices of alcoholic drinks. Food is too very good.
Y. P — Google review
Awesome place. Great history and great collection. I like the lamps and their theme. It was a little dark at first but it was quite fun to look at all the lamps. The service was very polite with decent English. There were a few pauses but nothing that would hinder our experience. We ordered fish but apparently it was too mushy so they made another one. (I thought both were delicious) We ordered sizzled chicken but there was no kitchen so they again, prepared another dish to make up for it. We ended up eating a lot more than planned. Everything tasted amazing nonetheless. I especially liked their deep fried lavash with cheese and their chicken wings. All of the sauced were very well balanced, not too milky and not too thick. Just perfect.
I-Hsin Y — Google review
Amazing space and history involved with this place. Inside it’s like Alice in wonderland with hundreds of gas lamps and potions around every corner. Outside you’ve got a nice patio on a beautiful cobblestone street. The service must be hit or miss here though. For us it was a huge miss, which is a shame since we planned to come here to celebrate a birthday. But not bringing out a drink after 3 orders, bringing out ice cold varenyki was the nail in the coffin. They do make some great instagram worthy presentations and cocktails.

Ukrainian restaurant
Delivery Restaurant
Kryivka is a legendary restaurant located in the heart of Lviv, Ukraine. It's hidden beneath The Most Expensive Restaurant and requires visitors to utter a password to gain entry. Once inside, guests are greeted with a tumbler of strong liquor and find themselves in a chaotic but lively bunker where young locals enjoy cheap beer served by waitresses in army uniforms. The restaurant pays tribute to the Ukrainian Insurgent Army and its guerrilla warfare history from 1943-49.
Kryivka in Lviv offers such a unique and unforgettable experience! The atmosphere immerses you completely, blending history, culture, and a touch of mystery. The entrance alone sets the stage for an exciting adventure. To enter, you need to say 'Slava Ukraini,' which means 'Glory to Ukraine.' Once inside, you're greeted with a shot of alcohol, setting the tone for an exciting and welcoming visit. The ambiance transports you to another era, with decor and atmosphere steeped in history. The staff are friendly and engaging, making the experience even better. The food is delicious, hearty, flavorful, and authentic, leaving you fully satisfied. Kryivka is not just a restaurant—it's an experience you won't want to miss in Lviv. Highly recommended!
Olena S — Google review
This is an amazing experience & one should take time to experience the full treatment. There are so many strange & funny corners of this restaurant. There's a little prison, a shooting range, radio equipment, weapons & a very nice shop upstairs. The owners have really thought this through & customers are positively amazed. I'm going to be back.
Jakob B — Google review
During my first ever visit in Ukraine I visited Kryivka together with my Ukrainian friend. Before our trip to Lviv she told me a lot about the special atmosphere of this place. As a symbol of a century-long resistance and fight for a free and sovereign Ukraine. That is still ongoing. So you might think that I was prepared. I wasn‘t. Because the scenery and atmosphere are so unique that I had goosebumps when I was entering Kriyvka and seeing all this badges of these military units. Each of them as a symbol for true heroes. Beside of that, the service was excellent, the beer was amazingly good and the food so tasty. All in all it was one of the most impressive restaurant visits of my life. Slava Ukrainï!

The Lviv COFFEE MINE is a historic coffee house located on Rynok Square, Ukraine's first and longest coffee shop-bookstore. It was built over a coffee mine and showcases the legend of Lviv coffee. The mine tells the story of world-renowned coffee connoisseur Yuriy Kulchytskyi, the history of the building itself, and Lviv's role in creating the state of Ukraine.
Super cool place! The atmosphere is amazing. You can have coffee here and also head downstairs to the so-called 'coffee mine.' The concept is simply brilliant—definitely a must-visit spot in Lviv!
Iryna V — Google review
A magical place in the heart of Lviv. The atmosphere is unique – rustic yet alive, with live music echoing through the cellar and the scent of freshly roasted coffee in the air. The concept of a “coffee mine” is not just a gimmick, it’s an experience. Their flaming coffee is a must-try, and the service makes you feel part of the story. Unmissable if you visit Lviv.

Such a fun find! I love the flames that they use to finish off drinks at the table. Must check it out when in Lviv. I wish I could have gone again! Great selection of coffee and coffee themed items in the store.
Nici B — Google review
It’s a must see spot when visiting Lviv Ukraine. My walking tour guide pointed it out and I said let’s get a coffee! From the outside it does not look like much much, but it has a large area for dinning, a shop and extensive underground very storage and cavern-like areas that are worth the visit in itself. I had the flaming coffee and it entails a using a flaming torch thst makes the sprinkling of sugar on top of the coffee froth. The short show involves the table on fire and a final melting browning of the sugar to create to shell you tap through to get to the coffee! Lots of fun for a cup of coffee!!!

Lviv Coffee Mine is a must-visit place for coffee lovers! The atmosphere is unique, with an underground "mine" where they "extract" coffee. Lviv Handmade Chocolate is a renowned confectionary in downtown Lviv that attracts numerous tourists and locals with its high-quality Belgian chocolate, diverse flavors, and healthy dessert choices. The establishment features a dedicated kids' room equipped with toys and coloring books, providing a comfortable space for families to relax. Additionally, the workshop offers engaging sessions for children and mixed groups to learn about chocolate making and decoration.
This is a gem of a place. There is a cafe on the top floor along with a Terrance that has amazing views. Stop in for chocolate beverages that I haven’t been able to get anywhere else. We came around 1130am and I was surprised it wasn’t as busy as I remember it. We ordered Lviv hot chocolate (fairly thick with spices but delicious), chocolate velour (amazing), mango mojito (delicious to help balance out the chocolate beverages) and chocolate crepes. The crepes I didn’t really like- they were a too dense for my taste buds, I didn’t finish it. We paid 740 Ukrainian hryvni. The decor and aesthetic of the establishment is so stunning that I want to take it home with me and visit it everyday.

I was wondering around the city of Lviv Ukraine, when I found a place with a short lineup at 1pm. So I got in line lol- to lineup in the rain meant something was special lol. It was an “everything chocolate” type of establishment. It has 5 floor and an upper terrace as well. There is a quick serve on the first floor and a small shop on the second and washrooms third (or fourth); the 5th floor was cafe with some seating. The menu is accessed via QR code at the table (English and Ukrainian. I ordered a Lviv hot chocolate, as well as something called Royal Chocolate - a small glass with a warm thick mix of dark and white chocolate with some nuts on top (see video!)! It was a chocolate lovers paradise! I went during a heavy rain - and there was a small lineup —so is very popular. When I went the terrace was closed due to rain.

Awesome place, delicious chocolate! Can't be in Lviv without passing there!
Alex S — Google review
The place is hugeee, even too huge There are 4 floors (but 2 of them are empty at the moment) On the first floor you got the shop itself, where you can "Grab & Go" chocolate. The only problem is that you can pay for each section at a seperate area in the store (There is a seperate area for the parlines and seperate are for the prepared packs) МИросЯ was really nice, pleasent and patient! 🥰 It could be a good thing if they had an elevator, or at least located the restaurant at the second floor (at the moment the second and third floor are empty- you just have a toilet in the third floor, resulting in the restaurant located at the 4 floor) Besides that, everything was perfect. Overall really good chocolates, nice customer service and great value for money

Too much to choose from.. I recommend getting the big tins to travel back with especially the round one is amazing! Your biggest problem is trying to not a whole box at once.. Although avoid the tin with the house on it as they don't taste so good.
Piero B — Google review
Such a great place especially for chocolate lovers! There's literally too much to choose from. I would definitely recommend anyone to try the hot milk chocolate. It's really thick and super sweet and when they bring it to you they also bring a cup of water as it is not possible to drink it ( or more like eat it) without it. I'm not sure if it's everyday or on a particular day but at some point during the day they hold a sale of chocolate outside the store. They sell white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate bars for half price. It's a great present!
Julia K — Google review
Must see spot in Lviv. Can be crowded at times, although upper gallery and summer terrace are rather cosy. Not too expensive (Cup of chocolate + cake around 3€). Waiters speak Ukrainian, Polish and English.

The Most Expensive Galician Restaurant in Lviv is a unique dining experience that shouldn't be missed. Despite its name, there's a catch - with a special coupon, you can get a 90% discount on the entire menu. Finding the restaurant for the first time might be tricky, but once inside, you'll be greeted by Pan Petro and taken to his old apartment where you'll find yourself surrounded by mysterious Masonic symbols and an intriguing atmosphere.
Great food and an interesting idea for the hidden entrance. We had a game and mushroom pasta and duck leg with risotto, which was delicious too (although pickled cornels and coriander didn't fit the dish in my opinion). If you don't remember to ask for the 90% discount, you'll get it anyway :)

The historic center of Lviv is filled with restaurants and cafes for every taste. This restaurant is hidden away and not easy to find. Information about it is passed by word of mouth. I am telling you: be sure to come here. When you knock on the door, a man in an old robe will open you and let you into his apartment, where his pets live. And if his rabbit accepts you, he will allow you to open the old door. You will find yourself in a chic restaurant with great music. You will be greeted as a dear guest. When we received our food and drinks, we realized that people who are in love with their work work here. Thanks to all the restaurant staff, we are in love with this place.

Masoch. Hotel & Cafe is a tribute to Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, the author of Venus in Furs and a key figure in the concept of masochism. The cafe features kinky decor with lacy fabrics and themed dishes like 'Bathhouse and whip' and 'Bridle of passion.'
Have not stayed at the hotel but the Masoch bar is definitely an interesting experience to try out 😏🌶️ If you know - you know. The drinks are really tasty in here but some of them come with special punishments, so be prepared that this is an interactive space. Tried it and it was a definitely interesting experience to participate in, so feel free to visit and enjoy yourself 🙂‍↕️ P.S. Do not bring kids
Sofia V — Google review
I met Masoch in 2012, and it’s still my favorite place in the world. I remember the names of all the waitresses and waiters. I practically lived at Masoch when I was in Ukraine. I stayed in the country for a few months and went to Masoch every single day I was there. I hope you remember me with the same affection and love that I remember you. From the Brazilian, Normanda — with love.

I had an amazing experience when I visited a few years ago and tried delicious braised bull's testicles in balsamic sauce. This time, unfortunately, it's being renovated, so the basement is closed, Masoch's statue is gone, and there are only a few tables. It feels like a normal cafe with a BDSM-themed gift store now. Hope the old atmosphere of the place will stay the same after the renovation.

Great concept, location and rooms. Only downside is breakfast isn't served until 10am which is far too late. They did say we could have it in the evening before instead which was quite weird, but ok. We'd definitely stay again anyway, maybe without breakfast

The cocktails were great and the stuff very friendly. As for me it was too loud. As well if you would like to choose "spicy special offers" like out of experience things, people put out phones and shoot videos. I mean, it would make it better if filming is prohibited. That stopped us from staying there longer. As well I did like music but really expected more sophisticated things.
Victoria — Google review
Cocktails came a bit late but waitresses both served the drinks and supplied customers with a lot of ‘amusement’ so it’s quite understandable. Also you really don’t mind waiting extra few minutes when you can watch a guy getting candle melted on his bare chest or watching another getting ice cubes in his undies. Me and my friend got whipped pretty hard which is definitely an unforgettable memory. Add this place to visit guys you won’t regret.
Canberk B — Google review
I usually don't leave bad reviews but this was just so bad... Came in and waited in the corridor for like 5 minutes not knowing what to do, staff just passed by us. Felt like we are ghosts. Maybe it has something to do with us being foreigners? Theme is cool but really lacks service. We ended up leaving without ordering anything. Instead we went to gas lamp themed cafe which provided amazing service and everything was tasty.

Unfortunately we didn't know they had set menues... and we weren't told. Well the girl taking the orders spoke English, what was nice! The menu is also in English. The food was good, but we didn't like the burgers, maybe because it was a different meat than we are used to. The Mexican wrap was yummy! The French fries were delicious! We had to get another one big sized! Was interesting to taste Ukrainian fast food. And it was very enjoyable :) Thanks!!!

The service was good. The food was nice but the burger meat was not grilled as it should and the meat tasted a bit weird. It felt like it was mixed with something else like bread I think not 100% meat.

Decent local fastfood. Great prices. Similar quality as McDonald's.
