Kazimierz Dolny in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Kazimierz Dolny, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Kazimierz Dolny is a small Renaissance town on the Vistula River, known for its beautifully preserved market square, ornate townhouses and picturesque hilltop castle ruins. Its surrounding hills, riverbanks and ravines make it popular for walking, cycling and river cruises, with sweeping views from nearby vantage points like Three Crosses Hill. The town has long attracted artists, and you’ll find galleries, open-air art markets and cultural festivals, especially in summer. Cafés, guesthouses and cobbled streets give it a relaxed, old-world feel that contrasts with larger Polish cities.
With favorites like Zielona Tawerna, Hill of Three Crosses, and U Jankesa, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Szarada and U Jankesa so you can get the best taste of Kazimierz Dolny while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Wąwóz Korzeniowy Dół, located just 2km away from the main square of Kazimierz Dolny, is a winding and scenic gorge featuring an exposed network of ancient tree roots and trunks. It's considered one of the most incredible nature experiences in Poland and is often described as magical, especially for wedding photo shoots. The area offers a wonderful opportunity for a short, leisurely walk lasting no more than 30 minutes.
This place is magical!!! Especially in the fall it feels like something out of a fantasy videogame or movie. The trees create such a unique atmosphere, walking next to them is a once in a lifetime experience. It’s a short 25 minute walk from Kazimierz Dolny and it is an absolute must to visit if you come to the city! I highly recommend this to anyone!
Tadeusz G — Google review
It was one of the most incredible natural experiences I had in Poland. Located approximately 2.5 kilometers from the town center. The gully is around 3 meters deep and has a U-shaped profile. Visiting this site with a knowledgeable guide would enhance the experience, as there is much to learn about its formation and significance. However, even without a guide, it's worth the visit due to its proximity to the city and easy accessibility via electric mini cars. There is an entrance fee of just 4 PLN. There is an information board at the entrance, though it is partially destroyed. Despite this, I would still recommend visiting the gully on your own. However, it's best to avoid visiting on rainy days, as the wet ground can make walking difficult.
Gunay O — Google review
Place is absolutely fantastic. Exposed roots forms fantastic natural sculptures Avoid in rains - it gets slippery and immensely muddy
Ispas C — Google review
Simply magnificent. It is currently "closed" by the police because of some event that happened a month ago. You just need to move the plastic fence and walk in . Do not miss it. It is really special and this phenomena is rare. Take your time, it is a short walk (a few hundred meters). Highly recommended.
A B — Google review
Very nice place, worth to go. The visit is not very long but quite nice. You have to pay for the visit, what I consider really abusive, taking into consideration is an open place in the nature.
Antonio P — Google review
Amazing nighttime trip with a very knowledgeable guide. Ensure you check the availability (weather and number-dependant) at the corner where electric buses stop at the city square.
Piotr N — Google review
A magical outdoor experience located about 30min walk away from town. Car park was right next to the entrance if you want to drive there. There's a small entry fee but totally worth it in my opinion.
Takahashi H — Google review
Some most incredible nature experience I saw in Poland, Kazimierz Dolny. It can be 3D map and implement in video games or virtual reality. I can strongly recommend to see it during East Poland trip.

Hill of Three Crosses, also known as Gora Trzech Krzyzy in Polish, is a picturesque hill in Kazimierz. It is adorned with three crosses that serve as a memorial to the victims of a cholera epidemic that occurred in 1708. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the town and the Wisla River from this vantage point. The climb to the top involves ascending numerous stairs, and there is a small fee for entry.
Iconic. This hill is an absolute must in Kazimierz Dolny. It has the most beautiful view of the town and Vistula river. It is perfect for photos and to immerse yourself in the surroundings. Come up here and take pictures!
Tadeusz G — Google review
Great location to visit! We went up around 19:30 to 20:00 which meant that it was close to sunset time which I think is the best time to visit. The colours are beautiful especially along the Vistula River. This was my second time up the hill, but this time we didn't have to pay, the booth was closed up with no one collecting payments. This was a bonus!
Rachel W — Google review
Hill of Three Crosses (Góra Trzech Krzyży) is absolutely worth the climb! The short hike to the top is a bit steep but very manageable, and once you reach the summit, you’re rewarded with one of the most beautiful panoramic views of Kazimierz Dolny and the Vistula River. The atmosphere is peaceful, especially during sunset — a perfect spot to relax, take photos, and enjoy the charm of this historic town from above. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kazimierz Dolny!
Amir K — Google review
Amazing view, really recommend! Next to this hill are old ruins that are also worth a look. We did not have to buy tickets, but I don't know if this is always the case, because there was a little cabinet with ticket prices (maybe in summer?)
Maika C — Google review
Great view point, it's worth it and climb up the stairs. You need to pay for the ticket at the top.
Moramiko — Google review
On the hilltop, the three Jesus crosses rise like sentinels, overlooking the ancient village of Kazimierz with an almost supernatural majesty. The view is nothing short of jaw-dropping—a sweeping panorama of cobblestone streets, centuries-old rooftops, and the glistening Vistula River, all framed by Poland's untouched beauty. At sunrise or sunset, the scene explodes with fiery gold and crimson hues, turning the entire landscape into a vision straight out of a dream. This place isn't just peaceful—it's otherworldly, a raw and electrifying blend of nature, history, and sheer awe. A visit here is an experience that sears itself into your soul.
James K — Google review
When you climb up they will charge you for that, still it is a small price for such a pretty view.
Nina M — Google review
Paid entrance to the hill, really? 😀 Especially the fact that the toll is taken when you’ve reached the top. Been to real mountains times more beautiful in other countries, and for free. Nonsense lol :)

The Romanesque remnants of a fortress complex in Kazimierz Dolny offer tourists a chance to explore the ruins. The site features observation decks, including a watchtower, as well as guided tours and an exhibition. Visitors can reach the castle by walking or driving up the hill and paying for parking. Once inside, they can explore the inner courtyard and a platform that provides panoramic views of the city and river below. Additionally, there is a section of wall that used to serve as a prison.
Very nice place, we visited on a cold day but I bet it's super nice in the summer. Recommend it.
Benny C — Google review
The main old town in Kazimierz is very pretty and picturesque. The shops offer a variety of souvenirs but they are quite pricy. Most shops accept cards but it is good to have some cash just in case. The castle is ruins and some walls, but offers a good view on the town and the river. If you are planning to get to Kazimierz by public transport, plan it ahead as the town does not have a railway station so you can only get there by bus/minibus or car. Some minibuses are more frequent during school year and there are fewer of them during school holidays. Minibuses usually take payment in cash only so it is good to have some spare change.
Izzy J — Google review
Awesome place to go with a lot of history. It’s very rare. You get a chance to see anything like this in North America. Definitely worth a stop and the short hike note not stroller friendly make sure you are prepared when getting up there with kids.
Chris V — Google review
Fun castle, shame it was destroyed a couple of times. However the ruins are intact and you can still visit the tower close by.
Tadeusz G — Google review
I’d rather call it the ruins of the castle, but it’s worth visiting, really. You can walk up or drive almost to the top of the hill (there is paid parking there). Then you climb a flight of stairs, go up the hill and can pay to enter the castle. It’s only the inner yard and one platform with a good view of the city and the river below, and a part of the wall with former prison. That’s about it. So it won’t really take much time. On the other hand you can use your imagination and figure out how the caste might have looked in the times before it became ruins… it’s very windy up there too. All in all, it was rather interesting to visit this castle
Anya N — Google review
Fun stop with the kids for one hour. Check out the castle ruins then up to the tower to see the view of the Vistula river. You’ll need a ticket to get into either. Kids up to 7 are free. Adults are either 13 regular or 10 zl discount. We bought tickets right at the entrance and parked next door to the entrance for 5zl for 1 hour.
Jeff — Google review
I loved atmosphere and the tower with amazing view on the river and the city. The castle itself is not a place of great interest: renewed and restorated it seems so fake... A great pity that when you want to go to the top of the tower you hace to go back to the castle, no opportunity to buy tickets near the tower
Alina B — Google review
5zl to explore this place is definitely a great price, there are ample explanations inside on the history of the castle. Congratulations to the freaking genius who though it was a good idea to put white letters on glass in a lit room (sarcastic, ofc), but apart from that a great place to visit, probably the only one in Kazimierz, this little city is sort of devoid of life

Market Square, Kazimierz Dolny

4.7
(11524)
Market Square in Kazimierz Dolny is a charming and vibrant central marketplace surrounded by striking 17th-century townhouses. The square features an old wooden well and is dominated by a 14th-century church and several hills with the ruins of a castle. Along the Vistula river, Renaissance and Baroque granaries stand as reminders of the town's historical significance on the grain trail. Additionally, Kazimierz Dolny preserves traces of its extinct Jewish culture.
Authentic and beautiful, this old town square is absolutely gorgeous. You have to come and see for yourself!
Tadeusz G — Google review
Kazimierz Dolny’s town center, or Rynek, is a charming, picturesque square that captures the heart of this historic Polish town. Surrounded by beautifully preserved Renaissance townhouses, including the ornate Przybyłów Houses, the square feels like stepping back in time. It’s a lively hub filled with cafes, art galleries, and local craft stalls, making it ideal for a leisurely stroll. The relaxed atmosphere is perfect for people-watching and soaking in the artistic vibes that Kazimierz Dolny is known for. It’s especially enchanting in the evenings when lights illuminate the old buildings, adding a magical touch.
Darshan K — Google review

Beautiful market square with amazing Renaissance architecture. During the day it gets extremely crowded and loses a bit of its charm. I came back the next morning around 6:30 and had the whole square to myself – peaceful, quiet, and absolutely magical.

I was there during summer vacation. Very Nice village and the walk by the river is also very nice. In the main square were gipsys and they were taking advantage of the tourists. I think the locals must do something about it. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THE GIPSYS !!! Is also sad that the locals are not doing something and just observating what happens

Zielona Tawerna is a restaurant located in Kazimierz Dolny, Poland. It offers Middle Eastern and Lebanese cuisine with waiter service. The place has received positive reviews for its lovely atmosphere and beautiful garden. However, some have found the food to be overpriced. Despite this, it remains a popular choice among visitors to Kazimierz Dolny, especially for those looking for vegan options.

I am really happy I choose to visit this place. Coming inside it was like visiting the other world with small and beautiful garden surrounding it, and cosy interior. Staff was friendly and spoke English without any problem. Food was delicious and in just perfect amount. Restaurant is suitable for vegetarian diet and is child friendly with specialised menu. Prices could be a little lower but I didn't expect them to be, looking at quality of restaurant. I would especially recommend this place for couples and friends searching for great experience in pretty place.

Excellent service from the young woman. Spoke English too 🙏 Delicious freshly made pizzas. One verdura the other pepperoni. Reasonable price. Lovely location. Clean toilets, but no WiFi..

I mean - this place is legendary so you have to get there - but it is a ripoff - famous bread rooster is now 20 złoty which is absolutely not worth it. You will buy it anyway ;) in other spots you can buy it cheaper but this is not the same as visiting Sarzyński Bakery. It is very nice inside, they have added pizza spot on the side.
Bartek K — Google review
Staff is useless. There was us and only other table occupied and when I took my child to the loo the waitress cleaned our unfinished drinks and took away my food that I bought for takeaway. It was clear we didn’t leave the premises as our coats were still there. Didn’t apologied at all or didn’t offer a new drink.

I had gone here during my trip to Kazimerz Dolny for breakfast. It was really full with a long queue of people at the bakery counter. For the breakfast, I didn’t have a lot of vegetarian options. I went for 1-2 fresh breads and hot chocolate. The side pesto salad and cheese was delicious. I was super happy with the freshness of everything. I loved the hot chocolate, one of the best I have had in Poland. Definitely a must visit if you are in Kazimerz Dolny.

We went there because of the good reviews. We ordered breakfast for two. Generally, everything was very OK, but I would agree with some reviews that this place is a bit overrated. Prices are relatively high, the service was not bad, but also not the best, nothing out of the ordinary. Coffee was relative tasty. (Rated & graded as a café)

Quite a busy place! You can buy baked things here and some other things like alcohol. You can also sit down for a meal- the place seemed to be quite busy. The prices for certain things seem too high. We bought several baked things to go. Couple of items seemed to be baked some while ago, while others seemed fresher, hence such a mark. Here you can also get “kogut”

The food at Szarada, a Polish restaurant, is highly recommended for its excellent quality. Despite being in the holiday season and during lunchtime, customers receive their ordered dishes promptly within just half an hour. The roasted potatoes and chicken fillet are both delicious and served in generous portions that are hot. (Translated by Google) I waited 15 minutes to be served. Meanwhile, a single staff member was attending to existing and new customers. It was impossible to miss my table because I was a passing waitress. After fifteen minutes, I politely asked if someone could come over to take my order. I don't mind waiting for the food because I understand that preparation takes a while. I think the longer it takes, the more certain it isn't reheated. Meanwhile, when I asked, she (probably the cook) stormed out of the back room, complaining that it was just the two of them. Well, hello, but am I responsible for the staff shortages? Since it's high season, we need to think about this instead of hurling complaints at customers. I'm not surprised the reviews are so poor. I won't comment on the food because I didn't have a chance to try it. From the menu, I chose the tagliatelle with chicken and spinach, and my husband chose the pork knuckle on cabbage with bread. The quality of the meal was deplorable. The pasta was overcooked, mixed with defrosted spinach, and the chicken was 6 cubes, 11 cm each. 😆. The pork knuckle was taken out of foil, like from a discount store. And unfortunately, the beer on tap was very stale. 😪. And that's all for the menu. Chcesz zjeść nieprzeciętnego burgera to dobrze trafiłeś.

(Translated by Google) Very good burgers, available in four versions, each for 40 PLN. We chose the classic. The flavor combination perfectly suited our taste buds. The burger was a decent size; we were stuffed with just one, even without fries. I highly recommend it. (Original) Bardzo dobre burgery, sprzedawane w czterech odsłonach, każdy za 40 zł, my wzięliśmy klasycznego. Kompozycja smakowa idealnie trafiała w nasze kubki smakowe. Burger dość słusznych rozmiarów, najedliśmy się takim jednym bez dodatku frytek. Polecam z czystym sumieniem.

(Translated by Google) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We ordered two classic burgers at "U Jankesa" and... wow! We haven't had one this good in ages. The meat was perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavor – you can tell this isn't some mass-produced burger, but a truly solid product. Great sauces perfectly complement the whole thing, and the huge portions – no one will leave hungry! Another big plus is the owner – a very nice man with a passion for what he does. You can tell he pays attention to every detail. We will definitely be back and recommend him to anyone who enjoys a good burger! 🍔🔥 (Original) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Zamówiliśmy dwa burgery klasyczne w “U Jankesa” i… wow! Zdecydowanie wrócimy i polecamy każdemu, kto lubi porządne burgery! 🍔🔥

Bed & breakfast
Laid-back hotel offering a bar, a furnished terrace & a restaurant, plus free breakfast & Wi-Fi.
Very nice place. We spend there weekend at Workshops for doctoral student and young researchers in Information Technology. Good food and very nice views. I had room other side that main square and was very peaceful.

Restaurant- raw chicken, terrible buckwheat. Children hated the nuggets- they were totally dry. Generally not worth it. Totally overpriced. Just the service was ok.
Marta K — Google review
Great place with free parking (in strict centre!) and big breakfast (although lacking non-sweet vegan options). The only problems were Wi-Fi (probably had issues because of the crowd during the season) and untight door.
Filip S — Google review
Great location, breakfast just OK, one morning no warm water, next morning uncontrollably hot, it really needs a major facelift, wouldn't stay there again.

Sentimental place where my uncle Dean of UJ university used to spend a month during summer in 70s.

Lebanese restaurant
Restauracja Kaslik is a charming Lebanese restaurant located in Kazimierz Dolny, known for its traditional Lebanese cuisine and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant offers a beautiful garden terrace where guests can enjoy authentic Lebanese dishes served on colorful tableware. The menu features delicious and aromatic soups, flavorful falafel with sesame sauce, various types of hummus, grilled seafood, and Middle Eastern salads like tabbouleh and fattoush.
You'd think you just walked into a highlander tavern, but I assure you this spot has fantastic Lebanese food and even nicer staff. Regrettably I don't remember lady's name but I can't recall such a nice and honestly warm service in a long time.

As a person who lived in Lebanon for 8+years and loves that cuisine, I must say - most of the ordered dishes tasted authentic Lebanese - or at least close enough! Tabbouleh salad tastes just like in Beirut🙌 Sawwda Djej (Lebanese chicken livers in pomegranate sauce) were ace and highly recommend everyone to try (nearly as good as the ones made in Lebanon! If only the sauce was more sticky and less runny!) Meat and chicken was great. Batata Harra was tasty but... probably the only dish nowhere near to the authentic Lebanese one - which came to my disappointment. We also tried kibbeh which was super tasty and generous 😆 with plenty on pine nuts inside (tip for the staff: toast the pinenuts beforehand for extra flavour!) Overall, one of the best places to eat in Kazimierz Dolny. Super tasty and fresh, generously sized portions and reasonably priced, amazing atmosphere and very friendly staff. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu🙌❤️

We had truly an amazing meal in this restaurant. Im a big liver fan and their Lebanese style liver was to die for (little sweet, with pomegranate) and my husband had tender lamb ribs - delicious. Not mentioning that they have my favorite beer - Zwierzyniec!

We ordered shawarma, chicken wings, halloumi, fries and drinks. Everything exceptional and flavourful. Highly recommend.
Sudeep V — Google review
We've started with a quince lemonade and a double espresso: lemonade was good espresso was weak. It took more than 5 minutes before we could order drinks. I've ordered mixed grill and fatayer and my aunt halloumi. Halloumi was great while fatayer was borderline uneatable and I had mixed grill feelings... Chicken was great: moist delicate and flavorful, beef was average and boring and what I assume was ground lamb was moist and well seasoned but had a piece of cartilage. Creamy sauce was great the other red one I left after tasting. It came with some average bread and a simple salad with lettuce like leaves and cherry tomatoes which would be great if not for too sweet vinegar. Gelatinous probably milk based rose pudding with fig jam was light and flavorful with only flaw being a thin dried layer on top as if it was made a day ago. My aunt was bothered by plastic plates but I wasn't since they seemed high quality. I might come back but only for grilled chicken and lemonade and maybe dessert.

Good food, reasonable prices. Service was a bit slow, considering there were only 3 tables occupied. I was actually surprised to see the east Mediterranean cuisine in Kazimierz Dolny….

Loved the lamb ribs! We share for two and was more than enough.

Wonderful menu, large portions, excellent grilled dishes. Incredibly attentive to the guests. Victoria, thank you so much! We are very grateful to the restaurant and wish you prosperity!
