Shopping mall
Shopping
Eastgate Shopping Centre is a modern and centrally located mall in Inverness, offering over 70 stores including a department store, cafes, and restaurants all under one roof. With more than 50 shops and 13 dining options, it's a perfect spot for both seasoned shoppers and bargain hunters. The center also features spacious and nicely decorated public facilities. While parking is not expensive, some visitors note that there are a few empty units in the mall.
Very handy central location with reasonably priced underground parking. You can even do some small city centre tasks while your car is safely parked there. No parking tickets anymore. Just ANPR cameras so you just enter your registration and pay for it. The shopping centre lost some of the good shops there during lockdowns but with the new food court I believe more foot traffic will attract even more shopping choices soon. Good place for shopping and meeting with friends and family.

As Inverness is small, we decided to explore the downtown area, and its most popular mall. It is modern and spacious. It's close to the train and bus station and the old market. As any other mall it has a few restaurants, nice stores. Looks clean and there are toilets for free.
Carlos B — Google review
We were downtown, and it was raining, so we decided to go inside the mall. The mall is well kept and has a fair number of shops but does look as if it is losing shops. Overall we found a few interesting shops and would recommend a visit.
Arose58 — Google review
First mall I visited in the UK and it was a pleasant surprise, felt like I had walked into a mall from my childhood. The place was bustling and actually had stores I wanted to shop in, wanted to spend a little longer there but unfortunately we were a little pressed for time. 😭
Robert D — Google review
What a fun little cruise to take while visiting Scotland, they have beverages aboard and they explain what we're seeing.
Papa B — Google review
The centre is small but well-organised and easy to navigate. It serves as a convenient stop for those looking for a quick and efficient visit. It offers a good selection of clothing stores and even has a library, which adds a unique touch. While the food court was under renovation during the visit, several cafes and restaurants remained open, providing enough dining options.

Shopping centre in Inverness with large car park, with accessible parking spaces. Not a huge range of shops but all round had a good range of goods on offer.

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Local history museum
Inverness Castle, a majestic 1800s red sandstone fortress, stands proudly atop the cliffs overlooking the River Ness. Despite its turbulent past, including destruction after the Battle of Culloden, the castle has been restored to its former glory. Visitors can explore its lush grounds and enjoy panoramic views of Inverness city center and the river. The castle's unique architecture and rich history make it a must-see attraction in Scotland.
Inverness is a beautiful and charming city with so much to offer. The scenery around the area is stunning, from the nearby Loch Ness to the rolling hills and historic sites. The city itself feels welcoming and easy to explore, with plenty of shops, cafes, and restaurants to enjoy. Whether you’re interested in history, nature, or just a relaxing getaway, Inverness has something for everyone. The locals are friendly, and the vibe is peaceful yet lively enough to keep you entertained.

Currently undergoing renovation there is no access to the interior of this, relatively modern castle. Closed or not it does dominate views of the River Nis and can be seen easily along Nis Walk

Only saw from the outside but was spectacular colourant looks new compared to some we have seen.

In my previous reviews also I have said the same thing that all castles are almost similar and they have nothing extraordinary to showcase except that they are castles & that’s it. The only one castle to see is the Edinburgh Castle on top of the Hill. Worth seeing. But if you can’t reach Edinburgh then any castle is good to see. As we were doing a road trip & we saw 3-4 castles. The only EXCEPTIONAL CASTLE was Edinburgh Castle. Must visit!!

The castle on 5/20/23 is undergoing restoration work and will be opened in a year or so as city services. It is a good walk around and is easily in the middle of the nightlife. There are storage and bars nearby open seven days a week. The Edinburgh Museum and Art Gallery are part of the same complex. I recommend a visit there.
Charles S — Google review
Not currently open to the public. You can walk up the hill to the castle and get great views of the city and river. There are some tablets set in the ground on the city side near the car park which have some interesting historical facts about the castle. It is going to be open to the public in the next few years.
Simon N — Google review
The following review is based on a pre-pandemic trip going old school and only using paper maps and brochures to find places to stop at on a 3-week adventure to Ireland, Scotland, and England. No cell phone or internet. We were not able to enter the castle but were able to walk around the grounds when we visited. The castle blends into the hill side so it looks like it is part of the terrain at some vantage points. If coming from the west, you can get some great shots from the river when walking across the foot bridge. It would have been cool to see inside but even walking around the outside of the castle was fun and the town around the castle has some great shops and restaurants. In our visit we were lucky enough to have live music at one of the pubs.

Leakey's Bookshop

Book store
Used book store
Leakey's Bookshop is a magical haven for book lovers, reminiscent of the Hogwarts library or Belle's sanctuary in Beauty and The Beast. With a vast collection ranging from classic novels to rare first editions and new authors, it's a must-visit for any reader. The ambiance is enhanced by vintage collections, crackling fires, and an array of maps adorning the walls. This family-owned business exudes old-world charm and professionalism, offering both in-store browsing and online ordering.
Leaky’s Bookstore in Inverness is pure magic. The moment you step through the doors, you’re surrounded by towering shelves stacked with thousands of books—old, new, rare, and everything in between. It’s housed in an old Gaelic church, and the setting alone is worth the visit. Sunlight filters through stained-glass windows, dust motes drift through the air, and the faint smell of aged paper and wood smoke wraps around you like nostalgia. Every corner holds something unexpected—a first edition, a local history treasure, or a forgotten novel waiting to be rediscovered. The staff are warm, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do, adding to the shop’s old-world charm. There’s even a cozy wood-burning stove that makes browsing feel like a quiet escape from the busy streets of Inverness. It’s more than just a bookstore—it’s an experience, a sanctuary for readers, writers, and dreamers alike. Whether you’re a book lover or simply passing through, Leaky’s is a place that stays with you long after you leave. Easily one of the most atmospheric and memorable bookstores in all of Scotland.

Wonderful bookshop and beautiful building. Spent over an hour browsing books . Unable to find exactly what I went in for. Did see lots of others that were of interest. Unfortunately prices were quite a bit more expensive than from where I normally purchase books so didn't get anything on this visit but it did inspire me to purchase elsewhere
Lynn K — Google review
Large amounts of books of all kinds. Impressive arrangement and cool ambient. There is a lovely huge fireplace in the middle of the bookshop, which is fully working. Organisation of books is a bit odd to me. I've found books of same authors and genre scattered all over the bookshop, which makes it difficult to find if you are looking for something from a specific author. Ended up buying few books and as we are talking about second hand books, I found it a bit pricey. Anyway, I had good time and spent there about 2 hours. 😊
Zsoka S — Google review
Leakey’s Bookshop is absolutely enchanting filled with charm, character, and the comforting scent of old books. Every corner feels like a hidden story waiting to be found. The atmosphere is cozy, with shelves stacked high and sunlight streaming through the old church windows. A must-visit in Inverness for anyone who loves books, history, or just a peaceful wander through something truly special.
Shwetha V — Google review
Leakey’s is one of those places you cannot ignore if you are visiting Inverness, it is an iconic storehouse of books, prints etc. with a very knowledgeable staff and good prices. Close to the town centre with a host of other good shops around the area and good clean access. The only possible downside it’s not level access and there are steps, lots of steps. It is an old church after all!!

One of our first stops in Inverness was Leakey's Bookshop. We'd heard about it from friends and we followed it on Instagram and couldn't wait to see the bookstore. This place did not disappoint. We looked high and low and walked away with some great crime noir books. LOVE OUR TOTE ❤️ 📚

Leakey's Bookshop is an absolute gem in Inverness! 📚 The place has a magical, old-world charm with books stacked from floor to ceiling in a cozy, historic setting. 🏛️ The smell of old books and the warm atmosphere make it a paradise for book lovers. The fireplace adds to the charm, making it feel even more inviting. 🔥 I could spend hours browsing through the huge selection! Definitely a must-visit if you're in Inverness!
Basil — Google review
If you love books and especially second hand books this is a must visit while in inverness. A unique bookshop set inside a lovely old chapel. Log fire raging in the centre with a spiral staircase to the first floor. Tens of thousands of books. You'll need plenty of time to browse. Even the owner couldn't tell me how many books there were.

Hootananny is a vibrant pub in Inverness, offering a lively atmosphere with traditional Scottish folk music and weekly ceilidh events. The high-ceilinged venue provides an authentic experience for visitors, complete with delicious Scottish cuisine such as haggis topped with mash potatoes, steak pie with new potatoes, fish and chips, Cullen skink, and porter pudding. Guests have praised the friendly staff and accommodating service at this charming establishment.
Food great and reasonably priced. Beer is available in half-pints for more tasting. Music is fantastic. And none of those are the best thing about this place: it's the hospitality. Highly recommend booking in advance. They will get you a perfect table for your party: near the stage, near the bar, near the back or upstairs. Two shows a night, so please try to share the fun. Such a Highland treat!

This tiny pub in Inverness is pretty cool. You can dine and groove to tunes while you eat. The service was a bit lacking though, especially for the size of the crowd they had between the bar and dinner service.

Loved our stay here. Absolutely fantastic place. We booked a last minute room and was afraid it would be not so nice. But omg, it was amazing. My favorite stay in Scotland! The room was very clean and super cozy. The bed was very comfortable and the restaurant was just below. No noise from the restaurant! The food was fantastic and the live music Absolutely amazing. Highly recommend it!

On a Monday, I met Tracy on the train returning to Inverness from my day trip to Edinburgh. I had only two more nights in Scotland and I wanted to experience live Scottish music. We were staying at the Waverley Guesthouse on Union Street and I persuaded her to go out to Ax throw at Playback. We were too late for that, they close at 7:00 pm. She was hungry so I guided her to Scotch & Rye Grill. We drank alcohol and she nibbled on pull pork. She did not look happy so I suggested let’s find another place. There are plenty of bars in the Historic area of Inverness, no need to take a taxi. The moment we read the sign, we laughed out loud saying HOOTANANNY. We walked straight to the bar to select our remedy. The live music was playing as we found seats to enjoy the performance. I looked at her face and she was radiant with happiness. Vhuntermassage LLC

Great pub, cool environment with lots of different seating areas and neat decor. Service was good along with food and drinks, everything was great and very reasonable. Fun place with great live music.

Our dinner was delicious, we really enjoyed the food. The cranachan cheesecake was good aswell. They have live music which brings a good atmosphere. There was one server for the upstairs dinning area, I think they struggled to keep everyone happy. We heard the people near us make a couple of complaints due to not having the attention of the server. I would come in with the mind set of needing some patience for the staff.

Great venue. Food was absolutely fantastic and washed down with a few beers while foot tapping away to the live music. 10/10 WE’LL BE BACK VERY SOON

Only went for drinks so can’t comment on the food, but it looked great! The drinks were really good, not the best espresso martini I’ve had in my life but a pretty great one! Would definitely visit again, service was great, vibe was good. The best thing we got was definitely the classic White Russian. The menu was extensive and there are lots of cocktails I’d like to try if i visit again. Also all the lovely dogs they welcome in are a plus!

The Victorian Market, constructed in 1890, is a charming indoor shopping arcade featuring small stores offering unique gifts and souvenirs, as well as various cafes and eateries. The market's entrance through three stone arches on Academy Street leads to a collection of individual shops that make it worth visiting, especially on rainy days. Visitors can enjoy retail therapy at the Eastgate Shopping Centre or explore the market's charming boutiques and vintage stores.
What a beautiful place! The arcade so neat! The shops are all lovely and the food hall is wonderful. Shoe repair? Check. Tailor? Yep. Butcher? Also yes. And all the souvenirs of the Highlands anyone could need. Hand-made goods, vintage things, and sweets! Don't sleep on the coffee or ice cream. Across the street from the railway station and the Royal Highland Hotel. Steps from Eastgate if you need more shopping.

Love this market place in the heart of Inverness. Apart from shopping, it also boasts a fabulous food hall, with great quality food stalls serving good quality food at decent prices. We went a few times whilst we stayed in town. The venue is not just frequented by visitors, but also warmly supported by locals. We tried the Mart, Highland Pulled Meat, Red Shank & Bad Girl Cafe. All offered decent quality quick meals & snacks.

The Victorian Market in Inverness is a charming slice of Highland history tucked right into the heart of the city. Built in 1890, it’s a covered market that blends ornate architecture—think cast-iron details and a domed wooden roof—with a vibrant mix of independent shops, cafés, and services
Omar S — Google review
Excellent food market with a decent variety of stalls. There was live music over the weekend, and a decent crowd too. However, tables/seats are easily available with a quick scan around the room. Sadly closing times are much too early to accommodate the working crowd on weekdays.
Blue G — Google review
The Victorian Market in Inverness is a charming blend of history, local flavor, and Highland hospitality. Stepping inside feels like walking back in time, with its ornate ironwork, glass ceilings, and the warm hum of local life all around. It’s not just a shopping stop—it’s a living piece of Inverness heritage. Each stall tells its own story: artisan crafts, handmade jewelry, Scottish woolens, and quirky souvenirs you won’t find anywhere else. The food court and cafés are fantastic too, offering everything from traditional Scottish fare to great coffee and baked treats. The people who run the shops are friendly and proud of what they do, always ready to share a story or a recommendation for travelers. It’s the perfect place to slow down, explore, and support local makers while soaking in the atmosphere of the Highlands. Whether you’re hunting for a unique gift, grabbing a bite, or just escaping the rain for a bit, the Victorian Market delivers a true Inverness experience. A must-visit spot that captures the heart and charm of the city.

A very quaint enclosed market with a variety of shops. The problem that we had was that not all shops were open the same hours and it does close at 5 pm every day except Friday and Saturday. This caught us off guard since our first stop was Saturday night. Then, before our train ride, we went back at 6 pm to pick up some food for the train, and it was closed. Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend that you check the hours before you go.

Latte had beautiful flair and design, capuchino did not. I found that disappointing. Croissant was the size of a small pizza and somewhat mushy, they’re supposed to be definitely smaller and crustier. It was an average experience.

A small and cosy café that serves a dreamed bacon roll. The brioche bun makes the difference adding a bit of sweet taste that matches perfectly with the crispy bacon. The cinnamon and raising bun was delicious. Friendly staff and quick service if you are a bit short of time to catch the train. Update: I came back to Inverness and had an extraordinary oat flat white and a bacon roll. The coffee was exquisite. Really good quality coffee.

I was exploring Inverness city and came to Victorian market - the aroma of coffee pulled me to this place. The shop keeper Peter was a kind and friendly man; he made me the fantastic cortado coffee. There was few seats to sit inside and some outside. He allowed me to spend quality time there. Then I tried Ferraro roscher ice cream and it was awesome. Sam's Indian Cuisine is a spacious and easily accessible restaurant located in Inverness, Scotland. Despite being Bangladeshi-owned, it offers a diverse Indian menu in a fine dining setting. While some dishes may cater to European tastes, the food is delicious and the service is efficient. The chicken biryani stands out for its flavorful taste, while other options like the vegetable platter provide satisfying choices for vegetarians.
As someone who has gone to numerous restaurants in Inverness I can say easily that Sam's is one of the best in town. The food is exceptional and the service is first rate. If you have a craving for authentic Indian food for a good price then Sam's is the place for you.

We were on a road trip to Scotland from UK and wanted to have an Indian food. We reached Inverness around 9 pm and found about this place. This place is located at very ideal and easily approachable location. The joint claims it is Indian but it is actually a Bangladeshi owned joint. However the ambience was really good - the joint was spacious and having nice Indian menu. The food was so good, the service was so fast. An ideal place to have comparatively a good Indian meal on foreign land.

Nourish - Organic Vegetarian Food + Therapies is a relaxed eatery in Inverness that caters to the vegetarian and vegan community. They offer classic breakfast and lunch options, with most dishes available as gluten-free upon request. The menu is small but diverse, featuring daily specials that have received rave reviews. Customers praise the fresh and flavorful food, including dense and refreshing smoothies.
Nice little independent café serving the vegetarian and vegan community in Inverness. There are plenty of options here for breakfast (which finishes at 11:30am) and lunch. Nearly all dishes can be gluten free on request. Worth checking out the dishes of the day as they didn't disappoint. The smoothie was dense and fresh with fruit. In fact, all of the food felt fresh and the cooked food had a tasty mix of flavours which worked well together. One thing I'd say is don't be surprised if you have to share a table with strangers as it can get quite busy during lunch; depending on your personality this could be welcome or not. Outdoor seating is available which is nice for watching people on the street go by when the weather is good. Highly recommended.

We were visiting Inverness for the day and I was delighted to find Nourish when looking up vegan food places. Our lunch was delicious, the staff were lovely and the pumpkin pie we took away was the perfect treat for later in the day. Would love to come back next time we're visiting the area!

Loved it! Coffee and vegan cake were delicious (this was not easy to find in my 2 week trip so far). Really flavorful. Cute and nice peaceful environment. The waitress/barista was very nice. One of my favorite spots in Inverness.

Very tasty food and drink, very friendly staff. I stopped in with my veggie Dad and vegan brother and both we're equally impressed with the food. Has that little cafe charm, and a personal feel. We'll definitely be popping in again next time we're passing through!

Great find! We were looking for places that offered vegan and gluten free in Inverness and stumbled upon Nourish. Cute, little 5 table (or so) restaurant that offers vegan and gluten free meals. They seem to always have a soup and a lunch special on but they have a small menu as well. We ordered the special the few times we've been in and never once been disappointed. The service is also really friendly which always helps. They've also got a great selection of teas and home-made vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free desserts! We'll definitely be back.

First time in this lovely cafe, won't be the last! The ginger and sweet potato soup was the best I've had, so much ginger!!! Couldn't resist the date and cranberry brownie with my coffee.. Amazing! Staff were so friendly and helpful. Strongly recommend a visit.

Prime | Steak & Seafood is a warm and inviting restaurant that offers seasonal, sustainably sourced seafood and meats, along with a selection of wine and cocktails.
Must visit spot. We went for a special date night and it was lovely, highly recommended. Very busy place, we were very lucky to get a table even for two, the staff were busy but every time we spoke to them they were kind and attentive. The restaurant manager/maitre d' was friendly, proactive and knowledgeable, absolutely doing her best for all the people trying to get a table as well as her guests, she was fantastic. Drinks, Had a nice Scottish cider, which was a rarity but was nice light and with a refreshing apple finish. Food wise, we shared the seafood platter, with a nice variety of crayfish, rollmops, olives, smoked mussels. It was all fresh and delicious, I would gladly go back for the same tomorrow. Mains, we shared the 1kg bone in tomahawk steak, and added the seasonal veg and garlic mushrooms. Delicious! We ordered rare and and it was just right. Seasoned well, moist and with a nice sear on the outside. Hardest bit was struggling to fight the inner urge to pick up the bone and gnaw on it. Cost, with the tip it came to £130 for the two of us, we couldn't manage dessert, and only 1 alcoholic drink with water on the side.

The food tasted great. The cod fillet was served with pasta and the pasta tasted spicy. The mussels were very fresh. Overall dinner was great but a bit pricey.

We had dinner and order soup of the day tasted baby food, the we had chicken skewers was one piece came cold but the taste was average, for the main course the food took 1 hour and unfortunately was below expectations the fish had no test and the same for the stake, the have gluten free options. It is not an option to consider to good memories

Maebh, our server provided service with a smile & conversation. Alcoholic beverages: Hendricks Gin & blood orange tonic, Jameson whisky & ginger ale. Fresh bread with balsamic & oil while waiting for main dishes. Harissa chicken with a pancetta cream sauce, potatoes, & peas - enjoyable. Cream sauce is very rich. Ribeye (medium) with micro greens, side salad, french fries, & bone marrow gravy. Steak is bland; adding the gravy, scrumptious.

We visited this steakhouse on a Saturday evening, it was quite busy with a noisy atmosphere. The service was still friendly and attentive. The steaks were fine, nothing special but slightly overpriced in my opinion. The stick toffee pudding was delicious. Recommended.

Friendly and attentive service from our server (John). Good food, we went for the 2 for £20 menu which was great value. We were the only customers in the restaurant for quite a while, but the background music and nice conversation with staff made for a good atmosphere. Would recommend and will return. Recommend a pint of Hoppyness, a lovely IPA!

Center of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the center side of town. Start the day off with Fort George, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Inverness Museum and Art Gallery. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Fort George is an 18th-century fortified garrison and working army barracks that now houses the Highlanders' regimental museum. It's a formidable fortification with massive walls, built by the English to hold Northern Scotland after quelling the civil war uprising. The construction took 22 years to complete, showcasing the immense effort put into its creation. Visitors can take humble yet dramatic walks up to the entry and explore the impressive structure.
An amazing place to visit. The best Fort I have ever visited. The museum is worth the entrance fee alone. The grounds are perfectly maintained and the site is easy to walk around. Visiting during the week was a great option as it was very quiet. The cafe was clean and tidy. A shame there wasn’t vegan options to enjoy
Claire T — Google review
The story of Fort George is very interesting as you wander around the largely deserted camp. It is truly caught in a time warp with hints of the modern British Army thrown in for fine measure. Its palpable as you walk into the camp across the bridge. You sense what it must have been like for troops about to undergo training. There are toilets on site. There is also a very fine cafe. The staff are very welcoming. The cafe was spotless. The museum on site is run by dedicated people who really know all there is to know about the site and it's history. They are more than happy to answer any questions you may have. The items on display in the museum are exceptional and a lot of thought has gone into the layout. There is also a couple of gift shops on the site. Both offering items you would expect to find.

I TOTALLY LOVED FORT GEORGE!!! 🏰🐬. We visited Fort George on a Sunday, it was quite busy but we didn't have to wait long to buy our tickets, which were reasonably priced, £10-£11 for adults, £8-£9 concessions, and roughly £6 for kids. My mum is a carer for my dad so she got in for free. The Fort itself is massive, around the same size as 40 football fields. It is a star fort built in 1748 so it's steeped in military history. When you buy your ticket you are given a wee machine and a map with all the areas numbered, you type the number of an area into the machine and it plays, telling you all about that part of the Fort, it was very interesting. There are loads of little rooms you can go into that shows what it was like for soldiers years ago, there is also a cinema that you can sit in and watch the film. There is a cafe inside the fort which serves nice coffee. I liked how it is still a working barracks with soldiers living there. You can walk right up to the edge of the star fort and look out to the water, dolphins 🐬 can be seen sometimes but we didn't see any. I loved the big cannons, they were on track so they could be moved round in a half circle. I loved Fort George and I'm definitely glad we visited, well worth seeing, such an interesting place.
Paula D — Google review
Beautiful place! The highlander museum was super interesting, lots of military history and the staff was amazing! You can also catch the dolphins that come out sometimes in the afternoon if you stand by the canons at the top of the fort! A must experience!

We popped in at around 4pm, they did prewarn us that we wouldn’t be able to get round it all, but we were more than welcome inside! We are so glad we did! In the museum a gentleman gave us a wonderful walk through of what they had going on inside! The grounds were to so clean and really well maintained! We will definitely be visiting again🥰 We even saw some little birds nesting 😍

What an incredible Fort. Massive and in fabulous condition. Current military barracks combined with beautiful tourist attraction. We got to see it & The Moray Firth on a lovely sunny September day, but it would have equally spectacular whatever the weather.

This was one of my favorite tourist visit. Make sure to visit at least 3,4 hours earlier vefore closing time if you like to explore in depth. Adult ticket price is £11 with vat and they will provide audio guide if you prefer to have. There is a big parking area able to park more than 30 cars at a time.

We discovered Fort George whilst visiting the highlands. We were immediately interested in visiting due to the military history. Upon arriving, we were warmly greeted and invited into the main office to buy tickets, and then offered a place on the free tour, with a man called Peter. He was extremely informative and friendly, and we learnt so much about Fort George and its history. My favourite thing that I learnt was regarding the history behind the stag and the Seaforth Highlanders. Their gift shop was also steeped in Scottish history, and had everything from magnets and souvenirs, to whiskey and guide books. We had a fantastic time exploring the grounds, and would highly recommend a visit!

Dolphin Spirit Inverness offers boat tours in the Moray Firth, providing opportunities to observe a variety of marine animals such as dolphins, otters, seals, and various bird species. The company prioritizes safety by providing full-body waterproof flotation suits for passengers. While dolphin sightings are not guaranteed, the tour promises stunning views of the sea and diverse wildlife.
I prayed to the LORD Most High, the God of all creation, and He delivered. We saw very active and playful dolphins, some in which the guide says is unusual. The receptionist was very informative and the crew were very accommodating to use and a two year old. The views are amazing! Cafe and toilet available on board. Tip: the inside front left seats have a window that can open up and view out while comfortably covered.

The most incredible trip! We went on the 3:30 pm Mischief sailing in the last week of July and got amazing sightings. The team were so knowledgeable and their insights really added to the experience. We even got a wee glimpse of one of the baby dolphins!! Really appreciate how respectful and caring the team were, always turning off the engine and letting the dolphins come and go as they pleased. Cannot recommend this experience enough!

We had an amazing 2 and a bit hours out with Peter, who was the skipper for the day. He was incredibly skilled in manoeuvring the boat close but respectfully towards the animals. He was fun and easy to chat to. We had an incredible experience, we saw dolphins, basking sharks and seals. We’ve done a few sea safaris but this is the only one I can say is credible. As a family, this was the highlight of our holiday. Thanks everyone!

Very lucky with sunny clear day and did get to see dolphins. The staff were all lovely and friendly and made us welcome. Our guide on the boat was not obtrusive, but took the trouble to interject to point t out the names and habits of the birds we saw on our journey which was great.

Unfortunately no dolphins but we did get to spot dolphins a little later near the Fort! Our guide was amazing and it was such a great experience to see the nature from the water side too. We were quite fortunate with the weather so that was a big plus for us. Super sunny and just a great overall experience. Would definitely do it again!

We thoroughly enjoyed this trip and had some great sightings of dolphin The only downside is that we would liked to have been sat outside on top and unfortunately we were inside, you are able to get up and walk outside but for the kids they preferred to stay seated so missed most of the sightings. I feel indoor seats should be cheaper.

We were visiting from California at the beginning of October and found this cute little place by chance. It’s tucked away a bit from the main area with all the other restaurants and bars, but definitely worth the short walk. The shop has a charming retro look and a great selection of delicious gelato. The service was friendly, and we ended up coming back every night after dinner! Even though it was chilly in Inverness (in the 50s °F), finding an open gelateria in the evening was such a pleasant and unexpected treat.

MacGregor's is a charming spot that offers Scottish cuisine, craft beer, and spirits in a relaxed atmosphere with live music. The proprietor, Bruce, hosts whiskey tastings in the cozy basement and shares captivating local stories. The menu features high-quality dishes like fresh whole seabass and butternut squash soup. The pub also boasts an extensive selection of beers and spirits. Despite being close to transportation hubs, MacGregor's maintains a welcoming ambiance without any pretense.
A very nice bar for delicious meals and drinks with proper Scottish experience. The food was very tasty and good, the dessert was delicious. It has a nice atmosphere to enjoy a drink and a meal. They had a live music performance that added to the experience. It’s a busy place with a lot of tourists.

Really nice pub inside but the fish and chips and lack of heaters let it down - fish was dry, no peas, cheap condiments 😭 pie was good (meat was delicious) but the flavour was lacking and needed more gravy! A shame after reading all the amazing reviews. However the desserts were amazing - cranachan (which came as cranachan not cheesecake as advertised but v happy about that). Sticky toffee was delicious too. The inside tables were nice but hard to come by and none of the outside tables had heaters. The mussels smelled amazing we wished we ordered those

This place was awesome! The proper Scottish experience! Steak pie was SO good and I’m surprised by how much I loved the salad, I don’t know what they put in there but it was amazing. The very best food, the best staff, the most authentic atmosphere! We loved everything about this pub! It is not a large place inside - yet, they accommodated our large group and made it look easy. Other places in town had given us a bit of a hard time - but MacGregor's, with less seating inside than some of the others, made us feel welcomed and appreciated. I can't say enough about the kindness of the staff here --- and the food is outstanding!!

Stopped in for dinner, found the back end has a quiet room, away from bar scene. Order fish and chips and chicken fingers . Both delicious. I was suprised by the 12(!) year old servers!! Not 12, but sure seemed young, however, super friendly, attentive, kept out glasses full, prompt. Note - fish n chips were better HERE then in London, by a long shot. They just cooked em right, not too much breading , not too tough, not fishy smelling, just good stuff The chicken fingers were great as well. Only downfall ….. the fries were plan Jain thin fries, not real “chip” But not overpriced, and good atmosphere

Inverness Museum and Art Gallery, located in the heart of the city on Castle Wynd, offers a contemporary space showcasing collections ranging from geology and natural history to art and archaeology. The museum is just one of many attractions in close proximity, including the Highland Aviation Museum, the Highlanders Museum, and the Loch Ness Centre. Visitors can also explore day trip options such as the Highland Wildlife Park or local castle tours.
We needed to kill some time so decided to pay a visit to the museum and it was amazing! Its not often you find a museum that focuses solely on the UK and it was wonderful to have a full Scottish history way back to the creation of the land. I loved seeing all the old stone carvings and natural history displays of Scottish wildlife especially as we could point out what we had seen during our holiday. It’s free to enter and they ask for donations, well worth a visit. Plus there is a cafe but we had already eaten.

I was mainly interested in the art gallery. Wonderful exhibition by Ken Currie. My review will be mostly about accessibility- I normally walk with a walker but we rented a wheelchair for our time in inverness for more flexibility. The museum is on quite a steep incline and I called earlier to check - the only alternative is to drive up. Luckily a lovely Irish lad offered to push me up to give my mum a break. Staff straight away on hand, there is a little lift. Again wonderful and kind mannerism. Lovely gift shop and cafe and I spotted an accessible toilet. We had a delicious soup and overall fabulous experience. Definitely accessibility wise and staff 5 🌟

Nice wine bar on side street in Inverness. Excellent selection of wines by bottle and glass. Wine flight good price. When asked for second wine flight told it was one per person, which in the menu states ‘one flight per person when busy’ - lots of tables free on a Tuesday early evening when I was there, was not busy, so don’t understand this rule? Meat/cheese sharing plate was lovely.

On the evening of my last night in Inverness, I chose The Walrus & Corkscrew. I sat outside with my back against the wall. There were tables on my right and left. The waiter placed the menu on the table, I was in no rush so I waited a moment. A seagull chose to target me with Good Luck. I heard and saw a splatter on the menu but it was clear in color. Feeling uncomfortable, I reached for the side of my pants with my left hand to find seagull Good Luck . The girl sitting nearby gave me napkins and the waiter guided me to the restroom to freshen up. I sat indoors to enjoy the cheese platter with Scotch. My return flight to Philadelphia was smooth, no delays, no problems. Vhuntermassage LLC

Excellent spot for wine and a tasty snack, which ended up being much more filling than we thought it would be. Cold meat and cheese board were delicious. Added a scotch egg which was oh so good. So much wine choice so we had the 3 glasses “fight” which was also excellent. Great service. If you see it and think should I, do!!

My sister and I have been here several times. This trip to Inverness, we have been to the Walrus and Corkscrew every day. The wine menu is extensive. He is extremely friendly, helpful, fun, and knowledgeable. This has become one of our favorite experiences in Inverness.

Warm and friendly owner and we were lucky to get a comfortable table with a bench decorated with colourful cushions and a rug. I recently visited Bella Italia and had a great experience. The restaurant had a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with friendly staff who made us feel comfortable from the start. I ordered the calzone, which was delicious—perfectly baked with a crispy outer crust and a generous, flavorful filling inside. The menu had a good range of classic Italian options, and everything coming out of the kitchen looked tempting. Service was attentive and polite, although the restaurant got a bit busy during peak hours, which led to a slightly longer wait time. Still, the food was worth it, and I’d definitely come back for another meal.

Ultimate calzone was as amazing as ever. Gabriel took the experience up a notch with his attention and immaculate service. And bless him I’m not easy with the amount of Parmesan and black pepper (shown in the pic) I like but he managed it beautifully! Mistakenly left a 3p tip instead of £3 lol sorry Gabs 😭x

Lovely Italian dining in the heart of Inverness Bella Italia in Inverness is a fantastic spot for a relaxed, quality meal. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and overall it made for a really enjoyable dining experience. A special mention to our server, Gabriel, whose passion for his job truly stood out — he went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, and his friendly, attentive service made a real difference. We had the mushrooms and meatballs to start — both were full of flavour and beautifully seasoned. The mains were just as impressive — cooked to perfection and absolutely faultless. Having visited several Bella Italia locations across England and Scotland, I’ve consistently found their food and service to be of a high standard, and this Inverness branch certainly lived up to that. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Great eating spot on Bridge street. We were promptly greeted and seated with enthusiasm. The entire time our waitress was very friendly and always made sure we had what we needed. The food was nice quality with good flavors. Highly recommend as there is something for everyone.

Fantastic meal on Friday 24th October with my wife and two boys. Gabriel was great as always. Attention to detail, attentive and ensuring food was excellent and his personality shone through. Thanks again and can't wait to return again soon.

They were a bit slow preparing our table for 5, but it wasn’t major. However, they were quick to order our food though, and the drinks came insanely fast. The menu also had a wide range of foods, which allowed for everyone to order something they liked. Food was amazing! It also came incredibly fast. We got to also cut our own pizza, and get special pepper and cheese served on top of our pasta! 10/10

La Le Turkish Mediterranean restaurant is a hidden gem located just a few streets away from the river. Despite being nearly empty on a Thursday night, it offers quick service and great food. The menu features authentic Turkish dishes such as Haloumi, lamb iskender, and chicken shish that are flavorful and satisfying. The restaurant is known for its fantastic grills, with generous portions of various lamb and chicken options served with delicious rice and spicy dip.
Easily the best restaurant in Inverness! Everything is so delicious, even the salad. The meat are so tender but thoroughly seasoned. Price is reasonable and service was great too. Highly recommend! 👌

Simply one of the best restaurants in Scotland! Completely deserving of its recent awards! Such stunning food full of flavour and presented well. I opted for the prawns on skewers with veggies and salad. Honestly out of this world in regards the flavour and quality. Do yourselves a favour and book a table if your in Inverness. Team always lovely it’s like visiting family. Well done guys and thank you so much for a lovely evening.

This was a really great find, especially if you like well cooked lamb. I ordered the Lamb Shish, which was probably the best lamb I had during our weeks in Scotland and Ireland, or at least tied with a dish I had in Dundee. Really tender and flavorful, really, really good. My wife had the Halloumi Cheese & Vegetable Shish which she really liked as well. Servers were friendly, quick and efficient. McEwans on tap was really good. Lucky to have stumbled upon this place.

A driver from the Taxi rank at Inverness Airport recommended this restaurant to me after he dropped me off at my hotel which was just 3 mins walk from this place. I went with the "Mix Grill for One". Such a juicy meat filled lunch. Loved it. Staff are courteous, the atmosphere is calm and welcoming. Cool place.

This is far more than just good Turkish food – it’s a culinary journey marked by depth of flavor, top-quality ingredients, and genuine craftsmanship. A true standout was the lamb: locally sourced Highland lamb, with a distinctive, rich flavor that sets it apart from anything I’ve tasted before. The meat was incredibly tender and aromatic – you can truly taste the difference that quality and regional sourcing make. It elevates the entire dish to another level. Turkish delicious cuisine and quality highland lamb makes a perfect meal to enjoy. The service was equally impressive – warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, without being overbearing. This is a place where you don’t just eat – you savor. I highly recommend to make this restaurant to your favorite one in Inverness.

Restaurant
Rocpool is a brightly-colored contemporary restaurant that offers locally sourced, modern Scottish gourmet cuisine. Visitors rave about the amazing food, friendly service, and attention to detail. The scallops and chorizo starter, tender venison, flaky cod, and delicious desserts are highly recommended. The staff's exceptional service and helpfulness are also highlighted in reviews. Despite its unassuming appearance without a river view, the restaurant surprises diners with excellent and thoughtfully presented food.
Stunning. The food was so fresh and it clearly showed in how delicious it was. Lovingly prepares, beautifully presented and fantastic tastes - I was so impressed from my first bite. This is truly showing Scottish food at its best - fish, beef and venison. We also were provided with fantastic service. The staff were friendly and attentive. If you're in Inverness I would highly recommend coming here.

This place is absolutely worth every penny and more. I took my parents here as a finale to their 40th anniversary trip. We all chose the the 2 course option. Me- the mushroom soup and butternut squash salad with halloumi cheese, mom- same salad with a ragi bolognese, and dad- the polenta and baked hake. My parents, who are not adventurous in their palates, raved for days after the experience. Attentive staff, delicious food, and all-around a top notch evening

What a wonderful experience! I didn't realise that they are the culinary stars in town, I looked for an accessible restaurant with good reviews near out hotel then absolutely loved the sound of their (early evening) menu. I made a note that I was coming in a wheelchair so they could plan where they could best seat me. We were early and given different options. Staff were lovely and chatty. They told us the menu changes every few weeks and you could tell everything was very seasonal. Beautifully presented, I adored my starter and dessert just the combination of flavours and textures a real delight. Honestly one of my highlights of our 5 days in Inverness, how lucky you are!

Absolutely amazing experience! The staff were warm, attentive, and made the evening feel special from start to finish. The cocktails were fabulous, every single one was delicious and beautifully presented. The food was truly out of this world, bursting with rich flavors and cooked to perfection. Every dish felt like a celebration in itself. I celebrated my birthday here and loved every bit of it. From the atmosphere to the service, everything exceeded expectations. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience!

We had a wonderful dinner at Rocpool while visiting Inverness. Dinner reservations are a must here. The staff/service and food were all amazing. I split the crab and sweet corn soup with someone and the staff was nice enough to put it into two bowls for us (without us asking for it). For entrees, we had the duck, halibut, and venison, which we were told are the 3 best entrees and they were all delicious. For dessert, we tried the warm lemon meringue pie and twice baked chocolate mousse - again, both were great. I would highly recommend having a meal at Rocpool while in Inverness.

The locals told us this was “the best restaurant in Inverness,” and we can see why. The service, meals, and ambiance were all superb. We went during lunch hour on a week day and didn’t need a reservation, and we left very happy.

Just an outstanding dining experience in every way. We shared an outstanding crab/corn chowder. I had the Monkfish and my wife had the calf liver special. Both were great. Service was prompt, helpful and friendly. Great restaurant!

We started with a wrong foot on this one. We tried cancelling our booking the day before because one of our members had stomach issues. Then I found some £80 was deducted from cancellation less than 24 hours. I then called the restaurant & reasoned with them. We were able to go then at a later time in order not to waste the deducted deposit. At the end I must admit our dishes looked as good as expected & we were happy with our food. The only regret was we did feel a little awkward when the bill was served.

What a fantastic place we had drinks on Wednesday night and the staff were really friendly and chatty. We called in for lunch on Thursday again the staff were really friendly. We were seated straight away with table service for food and drinks. The menu was really good we opted for the veggie burger with seasoned fries and the cheese steak baguette (without cheese) chips and salad. The food came out quickly and was fantastic. All the other food coming out also looked amazing. I can highly recommend this place for food and drink or both. Thank you Johnny Foxes keep up the good work.

Drinks - water Pea and basil soup - so delicious. A bowl of soup is an actual bowl and priced decently. Fish & chips - fish is haddock - served one piece, but decent sized served with chips (fries) & green peas. Caesar salad - decent size delicious dressing and plenty of parmesan cheese. Very fresh. Staff were pleasant in a cozy atmosphere.

We had a much better experience than we expected! We came here for lunch and the first impression after entering was how sticky the floors are !!! I guess after nights and nights of live music it would be expected, but still weird to feel your feet sticking so much :)) The lady serving us was very kind, the food tasty - we took soup of the day (leek with potatoes) and different kind of sandwiches or wraps. It is a big space so you have a shot of finding tables without a reservation beforehand, even on a busy Sunday.

The soup of the day was very good. My wife had the “Nessy” burger and said the beef was excellent. The onion rings were enormous, but still fine. The waiters were extremely helpful, and we didn’t have to wait long for our main dishes, the soup arrived almost immediately.

Great location with great food. We didn't have much time. Service was great and so was the food. We told them were in a hurry but with quick service or food was still properly cooked and served.
Matthew H — Google review
I wish I could give them a good score because they could do what many other places couldn't do. To accommodate 10 persons for a dinner service on a Saturday night! The staff was friendly, took our orders and the food arrived in no time. I would say service is better than decent. However admittedly the food was mediocre - maybe thats how the food generally served in city centre are. We had different food - traditional guiness steak pie, fish and chips, burgers, chicken stuffed with haggis, unfortunately nothing screamed "come back to this place". I hope they could improve the quality but I'm also thankful they accommodated us.

It was 4 of us and we came for dinner. We were seated and our server got to us quickly. She was very helpful with the menu. We got soup, steak ,stew etc- everything was very good and tasty. I wish they had bigger selection of IPA beer.

Gellions Bar, established in 1841, is a lively pub in Inverness that offers nightly live music, a Saturday Ceilidh, bar meals, darts board and TV sports. The bar exudes a welcoming atmosphere with its comfortable seating areas and two roaring coal fires. However, some visitors have noted that the reception desk looks worn and tacky. Despite this, the leisure facilities including an outdoor hot tub and sauna are highly praised.

An Inverness institution with real character—claiming roots back to 1841 and widely regarded as the city’s oldest pub—Gellions delivers nightly live Scottish music (ceilidh/folk vibes often led by local favorites like Schiehallion), a buzzing crowd of locals and travelers, and a strong pour list to match. Expect 24 taps across cask and craft plus an extensive line-up of Scottish whiskies and gins; it’s the kind of room where a pint easily turns into a singalong. Arrive early on weekends if you want a seat—peak sessions pack out fast.

The Malt Room

Bar
The Malt Room is a hidden gem in Inverness, tucked away in an alley, offering over 350 single malt whiskies, local craft beers, cocktails, and spirits. The intimate atmosphere provides the perfect setting to savor a dram of Scotch whisky. Visitors have been pleasantly surprised by the extensive malt collection and the charming bartenders. The bar offers a range of whisky categorized into modest, memorable, and magnificent options and also provides flights for tasting different styles or locales with accompanying notes.
This is for tourists and single malt enjoyers alike. I anticipated being overwhelmed by variety, but was instead impressed with rarity and selection. Distilleries create many small batches and hand selected barrels that never get widely distributed. The curated flights and personal recommendations went beyond what I normally experience as a collector, and have me a feel for the limited varieties offered locally. Worth a visit for the chance to be surprised by something new. Atmosphere is noisy and small, but lively. People kept bringing charcuterie and tapas plates in that had no known source. Bartenders were eager to share the tasting notes and provenance of the drams.

Modern but yet cozy bar with a good selection of whisky and cocktails. They made us a custom flight of whisky’s based on what we already had on our Scotland trip. The Strawberry Twister was also pretty good. As far as I could tell they don’t serve any food.

I came here everyday while in Inverness for their Old Fashioned. The guy in the bar really showed passion while preparing the cocktail. The place is a cozy little bar, with a few seats available- in a welcoming and charming atmosphere. It was perfect to finish the day and get ready for dinner, while enjoying a nice drink. Their whiskey selection is massive and their cocktail list is for every taste. They also have beer and wine. It doesn’t matter what type of drink you’re into, the place is just a must! I saw they also have whiskey taste, but I didn’t have the chance to try. To flag, they don’t have food in here. Highly recommend, one of my favourite spots in Inverness.

Having been recommended to visit The Malt Room by multiple whisky loving friends I couldn't turn down the opportunity while I was in the area. The venue is small but what do you expect from a place called The Malt ROOM? However, it never felt loud or crowded during the time I was there and there were plenty of options for seating or if you'd prefer to stand. The two people behind the bar we're friendly, easy to ask questions of and certainly knew their stuff, I'll definitely be back next time I find myself in Inverness!

Highlander is a lively Scottish venue offering a complete experience of the country's culture, from food and drinks to traditional music. The pub hosts live music performances every night, featuring Scottish bands playing fiddles, bagpipes, and guitars. Visitors can enjoy the atmospheric setting while savoring dishes like steak and ale pie with roasted carrots. The vibrant atmosphere attracts tourists from various countries, providing an authentic taste of Highland music and hospitality.
After an hour or so, during intermission we exited a bar to find another bar with live music. The Highlander caught our attention. We ordered more scotch to enjoy the live music. The performer wore a Kilt and a sense of humor. Someone unintentionally was grabbing stage attention by standing in front of him to dance. We found it comical and relaxing. Vhuntermassage LLC

We were a large group, 9 adults and a child, there were challenges in planning for sure. Highlander did everything they could to accommodate our group - it was not perfect, but it's a tough place for a large group. The order at the bar situation really complicated things for us - but we are not fans of that in any of the pubs. I do wish the staff were friendlier, we felt like they preferred we were not there... but the food was amazing and the music was Tartan Paint, which we really loved. If we were a party of 2 or 4 people, this would have been a favorite. Fun place - but difficult for a large group. I do recommend Highlander for great food and music!

Coyote Burger is a popular burger joint in Inverness known for its delicious and freshly made burgers. They offer a variety of options including beef, chicken, veggie, and vegan burgers. The restaurant has a small and rustic ambiance with quick table turnover. Despite potential wait times during peak seasons, the tasty food and great service make it worth the visit. Customers can enjoy different types of fries, from plain to loaded with cheese, sauce, and bacon.
Very cool location, the burgers tasted great and were big. It was a bit confusing that we were told at the entrance to order by app at the table, but then a waiter came and collected the menu cards because we were ordering by app. But we'll be back because it tasted good.

My food came out quickly, and I was seated without a wait on a Saturday night. The burger was good, but nothing to write home about. Also a bit dry. They didn’t ask how I’d like it cooked, maybe that’s not how they do things. I was really disappointed in my Coke. It was totally flat. 3 pounds for a glass of flat Coke is a bummer.

Absolutely outstanding food! I had the brisket chilli beef burger and it's honestly the best burger I've ever had. I swapped the sour cream for peppercorn mayonnaise and this was delicious. There was loads of brisket beef and crispy onions too. The Mac and cheese balls are massive and very good! We ordered veggie dirty fries and these were pretty good, but next time i think we'd just stick to regular fries. There's enough in one portion to feed two adults. The only minor gripe was that it took a little while to arrive, but it was quite a busy Friday night and to be honest, it was well worth the wait. Shout-out to our server who was also amazing!

I had the vegan BBQ burger with vegan cheese, bacon, and patty and it tasted great! The flavors were spot on, and I really appreciate that everything was fully vegan. However, the bun was a big letdown. It felt like it came straight out of a plastic bag: cold, soft, and falling apart as soon as I picked it up. It wasn’t toasted or warmed, which really affected the whole experience. That’s definitely something they need to improve. The lemonade was okay, but had a bit of a strange smell, maybe that’s just my personal taste. Overall, the food was good, but I’d only come back if the bun gets fixed.

The restaurant has good ambience but food was strictly okay. We ordered the Halloumi platter - rice didn’t have any flavor. Only Halloumi on skewers tasted good. We ordered the trio appetizer platter but were not served pita with it. Waited a long time for the waitress to even look in our direction. When asked, I was told they forgot! We also got the curry pasta and didn’t like it. Service was also quite slow as they seemed busy and understaffed.

Before ordering i confirmed if the place was halal and they confirmed it. We ordered Pollo pasta and lamb chops. My order which was Lamb chops was phenomenal. On the other hand, my wife didn't enjoy the pasta it was tasteless.

I’m back at Nar, for my second dinner here, and it’s just as amazing as the first! I ordered the lamb shish again because it’s absolutely delicious—tender, perfectly seasoned, and bursting with flavor. The atmosphere is cozy, the service is top-notch, and this place is a must-visit for anyone in Inverness looking for a fantastic meal!

Seafood restaurant
River House offers an upscale dining experience with a focus on seasonal, sustainable, and local seafood and produce. The restaurant provides stunning river views and has a cozy atmosphere with limited seating for up to 22 guests. The staff is attentive and the food is both well-cooked and beautifully presented. Diners recommend making reservations well in advance due to the restaurant's popularity.
Fabulous seafood restaurant in town. Waiters were super friendly and fast serving. Menu is excellent. We enjoyed selection of bread, fried patron peppers and sweet potato fries as starter with a bottle of Chardonnay. Then ordered mussels as main course. All were super delicious and tasty. We finished with Crème Brûlée which was mango flavored and cheese cake with raspberries and marshmallows on top. Unexpected taste of both. Reservation was not easy, suggesting to make it 2 nights in advance! We enjoyed outside sitting area for dinner that was a very good choice as inside a bit smelly for us. Definitely worth 5 stars…

An outstanding meal served in a comfortable intimate restaurant. The staff were lovely and service was excellent. Our food was absolutely delicious and presented beautifully. We really had a wonderful dinner, and would return to Inverness just to visit them again. It is a small restaurant and would say reservations are likely needed most of the time.

My wife and I had such a great experience at The River House in Inverness. The meal(scallops, Cullen Skink chowder, Halibut and Cod) was outstanding, and Alfie(the owner) paired some great wines for us too. The atmosphere is warm with lots of energy. While we had many fun and great meals during our 3 weeks in Scotland and Ireland, The River House was a standout!

Perfect for dinner in Inverness! Alfie was super nice to help with reservation and service was impeccable. Foos are really good, we had grilled oysters and fish soup ❤️ as well as local mussels ( I still think about them) and fish. We also appreciated a great selection of non alcoholic beverages and cocktails Overall great experience, will be back!

Absolutely incredible experience. Highly recommend the salmon pate and mussels! We had a couple of oyster shots too for good fun. Beautiful ambience, and the staff were delightful, friendly and lovely to chat to.

Superb! Be sure to book ahead. Oysters amazing, mussels fresher than fresh. Brilliant meal in an amazing setting Thank you for accommodating us :-)

If you are in Inverness and want a great local dinner combined with awesome Scottish hospitality just book a reservation at the River House. The oysters are an excellent option to start with followed by the fish stew or halibut. Excellent flavor and presentation. My family thoroughly enjoyed the meal. It was our last night in Scotland before heading back home and we couldn’t have picked a better spot to celebrate an excellent Scottish adventure. Thank you to Alfie and his entire team!

Absolutely stellar experience at River House. The food was spectacular, the service both warm and professional. We enjoyed every moment, especially our conversations with the chef and our servers, the amazing Cape Wrath oysters and the (enormous) seafood stew.

Modern European restaurant
Restaurant
The Mustard Seed Restaurant offers a carefully sourced European menu in a modern, split-level setting within a former church. Guests have praised the attention to detail in the service, such as providing lemon slices in tap water and accommodating dietary restrictions like gluten-free and plant-based diets. The staff is known for their knowledge and friendliness, creating an enjoyable dining experience.
What a great find. We tried to walk in on Saturday evening but they were fully booked so we came back today for lunch. What lovely staff; everyone we encountered was smiling. Great menu, food delicious. We especially appreciated our waiter who was attentive, deft, cheerful and who only came over once to check how we were doing. Another recent restaurant visit was slightly marred by the frequency of "Is everything alright" which put our teeth slightly on edge! Today on the other hand, I was sure that we would have been able to catch our waiter's attention had we needed to. We had the hummus and the terrine for starters, the steak and chicken for mains and would recommend them all. Oh and our table upstairs had wonderful river views. All in all, a very enjoyable experience! We shall be back.
Jessica P — Google review
We heard a lot about this place and that it’s a must go once in Inverness! The customer service is hit and miss! If you like to be seated in a balcony, do not pick a sunny day to do that as the sun will be burning your skin in no time! The next to the window sits on the second level on clear sunny days would be the best. I ordered steak with fries and the fries were old tasting and too oily! It wasn’t a good look for such highly recommended restaurant!

Had a nice lunch here on our last day in Inverness. It's a really nice restaurant in a great location right on the River Ness, so offers great views. Also, we were seated upstairs which gives better views of both the river and the overall restaurant and bar. For food, my wife and I both got the two course meal, so I had the Deconstructed Prawn Cocktail and Fillet of Seabass. The prawns were good and the seabass (and couscous that came with it) was really good. They do a really good job on food presentation here, so it looked great, too. My wife had the Breaded French Brie, which she loved, and Red Pesto Gnocchi, which she said was just ok. Servers were friendly and attentive. The one odd thing that happened was we were presented with the two course menu option, whereas all tables seated after us were presented with a large specials placard which had some dishes I might have ordered. I noticed the one other couple seated before us also looking at the list of specials, so they weren't offered it either. Might have been because we were seated so early - not really sure. Otherwise, was a really good meal in a great location.
Dave H — Google review
The two of us went on Monday night end of September and had a reservation at 5.30pm which was the only time available when we booked 3 days before. The atmosphere is lovely with a fireplace on the ground level. We were seated on the second level with view to the river Ness. The service was excellent. We ordered shrimp cocktail and a Cesar salad followed by the steak medium rare with chips and the seabass. The best of it were the chips. Unfortunately the steak was chewy and could have more seasoning. The seabass was good but overcooked. We loved the place and the service but were not impressed with the food.

2 stories with lost of seats but the restaurant was pretty busy. We were lucky to have table after a short wait. The mussel was tasty and good balance. Chicken was delicious. Very good food
Andreas — Google review
Food was decent, good value for the money. The beans could have been cooked longer for my taste tough. Also I was a bit dissapointed by the cheesecake. The two course early evening dinner costs around 22 pounds which includes a starter and a main course. The interior and allround design looks nice. They quickly delivered the food and drinks. The staff could be a little bit nicer and happier :)
Dario G — Google review
This was recommended by a local. We stopped in for lunch but they weren't open yet. We came back an hour later, the host remembered us and sat us even though they were already busy. We enjoyed the 2 course lunch. We ordered the chicken pie! The food was amazing! Glad we made the stop!

We stayed in Inverness for four nights and had two of our meals at the Mustard Seed Restaurant. WOW!! The building/renovation is gorgeous. We tried soup, appetizers, fish, pork loin, and dessert. Everything was top-notch. The flavors were finely blended and masterfully put together. Each item was a culinary delight. Our servers, on both visits, answered any questions we had. The timing of the courses was perfect. We enjoyed our first meal there so much that we immediately made reservations for the next day. I believe the Mustard Seed was our favorite restaurant in Scotland! I would recommend it to anybody.

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
Inverness Cathedral, dedicated to St. Andrew, is a Victorian Episcopalian church constructed with red stone and granite. Situated close to the castle and overlooking the River Ness, it stands as one of Scotland's most beautiful churches. The cathedral boasts fine stained-glass windows, ornate interior furnishings, and intricate stone carvings. As the northernmost diocese of the Scottish Episcopal Church, it continues to hold regular services.
Inverness Cathedral, dedicated to St. Andrew, is a great place for anyone who appreciates history and design. The architecture is stunning, with intricate details that reflect the rich history of the area. While there is a small spot for kids to play, it might not hold their attention for long, as the cathedral is more focused on its historical and architectural beauty. For history and design lovers, however, it's a must-visit, offering a peaceful and reflective atmosphere.
Barham A — Google review
This cathedral is beautiful! You do have to pay to actually walk around the cathedral, but it is a small pay (I paid £6 as an 18+). It’s definitely worth visiting this cathedral as the stain glasses are beautiful and the history behind it is special. I am not sharing much photos as I do not want to spoil the inside of this cathedral. I definitely recommend coming here and taking the time to walk around inside it.
Elizabeth — Google review
Inverness Cathedral is such a stunning and peaceful place to visit. The architecture is impressive, with lovely stained glass windows and detailed stonework that give it a special charm. Inside, it feels calm and welcoming — perfect for a quiet moment of reflection. The location is fantastic, right on the banks of the River Ness, so you can enjoy a scenic walk before or after visiting. The volunteers are friendly and happy to share the history of the cathedral, which makes the experience even more meaningful. Whether you’re interested in history, architecture, or just looking for a peaceful spot in Inverness, this cathedral is well worth a visit.

new on the scale of cathedrals we seen in UK ...definitely worth a visit ...Inverness Cathedral, dedicated to St Andrew, was built in the 19th century, with its foundation stone laid in 1866 and opening for services in 1869. It was finally consecrated in 1874 after the remaining debt was paid off. The cathedral serves as the Mother Church for the Diocese of Moray, Ross and Caithness within the Scottish Episcopal Church.

A nice little Cathedral. There's some great information inside ( self guided tour ) some beautiful woodworking. The only disappointment is it seems overrun with 'nick nacks' While I understand it's a working church. It takes away from the feel of the expierence.

The Castle Tavern is a traditional ale tavern with a classic decor, offering a pub menu and meal deals. It's advisable to make reservations in advance due to its popularity. The staff are attentive and the beer selection is excellent.
Very nice Scottish pub. Great location watching over the water and very good live music. The food was also great! The vegetables had great flavour, the salmon was fresh and the sauce was perfect to keep it all together. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here, would love to come back!
Bryan J — Google review
Bit of a mixed experience here but overall a great visit. The haggis croquettes and cullen skink were both great and we enjoyed them. We also got a steak "medium" and it came out well done. We had a good laugh about that but luckily the whisky sauce made it edible (we're too polite to ever send food back). Service was perfectly fine but if you like lots of attention this probably isn't the spot for you. View out the windows is great if you get a table there. We, however, had a lovely view of the wall. Recommend having a reservation still in mid September.

The Castle Tavern in Inverness is a must-visit! Fantastic selection of ales and a great range of delicious whiskies to choose from. The food was unbelievable—our steak and ale soup special was rich and hearty, and the sticky toffee pudding was the perfect finish. Cozy, welcoming atmosphere with friendly service. A true Highlands gem right by the castle—highly recommend!

Had a fantastic experience at The Castle Tavern. The staff were super friendly and the atmosphere was stellar. We enjoyed sitting outside on a blustery fall evening - we were plenty toasty under a heat lamp. The chipotle chicken sandwich and the oatmeal stout were delicious!

Had a lovely time visiting the Castle Tavern. I got some of the best mac and cheese I have ever eaten! The bread was super tasty as well and was so good dipped in the leftover cheese. When I sent this picture to my sister, she was insanely jealous! Great options for drinks and fairly reasonably priced (the food was VERY reasonably priced, so not complaining)!

We ate here tonight, recommended by the staff at our hotel. We sat on the patio, which has a great view. I ordered the Haggis, and my wife had the Haddock and chips. I can say on my part that the haggis and whisky sauce was marvelous! I ate it so quickly that i couldn't get enough. It was absolutely perfect! Definitely recommend. My wife said the haddock was incredibly fresh and fantastic. Both of us were so glad we stopped by! The service was very nice. We ordered at the bar, and i asked the staff for their beer recommendations, and even though I didn't take their advice specifically, I really appreciated the personal touch of them telling me their favourites! Overall, not a single bad word to share! Great location, great atmosphere, great service, and fantastic food. Stop here, its worthwhile!

Decent food but a little on the pricey side. The venison burger special tasted delicious, but the cheese needed to be melted more. Kids fish and chips seemed good value, but the pasta is just not worth £7.95.

We came in for coffee and pastries. We had a hazelnut latte and decaf americano the coffees were really good. For desserts we had the raspberry coconut sponge cake and a mango white chocolate tart. Both desserts were very nice, not overly sweet, the only thing was the mango flavour was very subtle. It may be nice to coat the tart shell with white chocolate and then add a layer of the mango to the bottom as well as the light swirl on top. The staff were absolutely lovely, professional and the restaurant is immaculately clean.

Wow, this place exceeded my expectations! I came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning around opening, and I was as surprised at how quiet it was. But that was good for me to find a spot to dine in. I had a chicken and cheese pastry, flat white, and a mango custard doughnut. The pastry was served warmed and it was by far the best pastry of that type I have ever eaten! It was generously filled with chicken and the pastry was fresh. The doughnut was also soft and fluffy with a delicious custard. The service was friendly, and helpful in making suggestions on what to get. I highly recommend this place, and yes, like another reviewer mentioned, it definitely has Brooklyn, NYC vibes!

I am from Melbourne Aus. Coffee is important in our city. We are coffee snobs. This cafe has the best coffee I’ve had during my travels in Europe. I felt like I was back at home. The food is also really good. Loved the granola and toasties. Did not get the chance to try the doughnuts but they were really popular and looked amazing. Went here everyday during my stay and didn’t even consider trying other cafes 😂

Great coffee, reminds me of the coffee back home in Australia. The donuts are fresh and tasty. Came back two days in a row for their coffee and toasties. The toasties take about 6-10mins to heat up and they are very yummy.

We made a quick stop at Perk Doughnuts going through Inverness. The staff was very nice and friendly. There were 6 doughnut flavors available and we tried the Fudge Judy (caramel custard filled) and vegan peachy keen (peach compote filled). I'm not vegan but I thought the peachy keen doughnut was excellent. It wasn't noticeably different from a conventional doughnut and the peach compote is excellent.

My husband and I ended up here for lunch on our visit to Inverness as I saw good reviews online. We were welcomed very warmly by the owner, and staff seated us upstairs at a table by the window with no wait. The restaurant was cozy and quirky with nice character. My starter was red bean soup which was incredibly good and was a flavor explosion despite its seemingly plain name and appearance. My husband loved the goat cheese tartlet and was emphatic about the flavors and the quality of the tart crust. We both had pasta. Mine was the seafood linguini and his was the chicken broccoli penne. We raved about the freshness, flavor, perfectly cooked pasta, and well balanced sauces that weren't too heavy or rich. Given the successful appetizers and mains we felt compelled to have dessert. We split a sticky toffee pudding, which was delightful. The sauce was creamy without being too rich, the cake was moist and full of flavor, and the ice cream was smooth and creamy. Our server was kind and attentive but I think may have been new as she seemed a bit uncertain at times. We waited a while for our bill for example, but it didn't detract from the overall experience and I think she has great potential. Overall very happy and would recommend!

We loved sitting outside in the little tents for lunch-- nice and cozy. We were told immediately that they were understaffed and so service would be a little slow - appreciate the heads up. We got skin-on chips, the roasted cauliflower, quesadilla with chicken, chicken malai tikka and fish n chips with a couple drinks. Can't complain about any food - everything tasted awesome. The drinks were very refreshing too.

We were told that they were out of one of the main dishes while ordering. Understandable as it was about 6pm. We then waited about 30 minutes for them to come tell us, after paying, that they were out of another menu item we ordered. Okay again, not a big deal but not a great impression. We got half of the food at that time, but then waited another forty minutes. At that point half of us had eaten and were ready to leave, and the food still wasn't out. When we went and asked about where it was, the man at the counter said it was "just a minute". The restaurant was half full, not extremely busy, so not sure what was taking so long to dish up 2 meals and some salads. When they finally brought the food the reasoning for the wait was "the kitchen is a mess" The condiments came out in measuring cups? Not sure if that's intentional but it seemed like they just had nothing else to put it in. Pictured is the food we waited over an hour for... Needless to say they need some help.🫣

Food was ok, good portions and tasty. Kids meals were very mismatched as one dish had quite a lot and other was about half the size so just beware. Staff friendly but place was not too busy just some loud locals with a few beers in them and as this was early lunch could of been better. Could of been cleaner as table was sticky and chairs ripped etc so just needs some TLC Over all good but could be better. Good food though

No faults from our visit. We ordered two drinks and two mains. Decent wait time and food was good quality and tasted great. They had a selection of sports playing on the TV but with no volume thankfully. Nice music but quiet enough to easily chat with friends. People who served us were great.

I visited The Auctioneers Pub in Inverness with four friends, and it was absolutely perfect! The atmosphere was warm and lively, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was spot on. I had the fish and chips — crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful inside, with golden fries that completed the dish perfectly. A true Scottish pub experience and a great place to relax with friends. Highly recommended!

Great food. We had the fish and chips, which came with a slice of lemon, mushy peas and a tartar sauce. Chips were bliss, fish was tasty and the batter crunchy. Everything as it should be. Guinness wasn't half bad either. Would highly recommend.

Spanish restaurant
La Tortilla Asesina is a charming and cozy restaurant in Inverness, known for its Spanish-inspired dishes and rustic decor adorned with traditional Spanish tiles. This popular spot has been serving delightful tapas, tortillas, and paella for over two decades. The menu offers a variety of flavorful options that are beautifully presented. Customers can also enjoy deals on their meals at certain times. The staff is described as amazing, quick, and very pleasant by patrons who have dined there.
Likely my favourite dining experience since being in Scotland. Our server was extremely helpful. We ordered the Seasonal Paella, Jambalaya, King Prawn Corizo and it was fantastic. The flavours were so complex and beyond amazing. While waiting we had the Olivas Marindas, oh my they were so delicious. We also had the Gambas Pil Pil and the Pimentos Del Padron. Pics attached. And why not enjoy a classic Sangria. I can not recommend this place enough. Well worth the trip to Inverness.

We recently visited this restaurant and decided to try the Paella Madrid. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite meet our expectations. The paella was a bit too salty, which made the flavor overpowering at times. Additionally, the rice was undercooked—half-cooked, to be exact—which really affected the texture and overall enjoyment of the dish. While the atmosphere was pleasant and the service was attentive, the quality of the food left something to be desired. We hope the preparation of this dish improves in the future.
Riza Z — Google review
The food was excellent and the service was fantastic. Tapas portions were decent, while the paellas and desserts came in generous servings, absolutely worth every penny. Just a heads-up: reservations are required, and they’ll ask for your card details to charge £20 in case of a no-show. Overall, a great dining experience. Will definitely be back. Hghly recommended!

Wine, beer, tapas! Plenty of classics accentuated with great Scottish produce. Lovely hunks of sourdough with olive oil and balsamic, mussels mushrooms and chicken in garlic (separate dishes) we had the lot except the paella! All of the dishes are fun and great to share, and is very well accompanied by sangria and beer. Bring a group, tuck in and get mildly tipsy while you all have a big smile on your face. Servers were all polite (and some even funny) and was a great location to celebrate a very joyous birthday. Thank you for all the delicious meals over many years! Cheers :)

We had a reservation for Sunday at 7:30pm and arrived after a long journey from the US. The atmosphere is lovely, with charming Spanish tiles that set the mood. We ordered tapas—shrimp, mushrooms, padrón peppers (not spicy), tomato bread, and ensalada. Everything was delicious, with well-rounded flavors that we truly enjoyed. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. There was no greeting or warmth from the staff, no recommendations, and no check-in to see how things were. It was difficult to get the attention of our waitress, and when we left, there was no thank you. The overall feeling was that we were unwelcome, which was disappointing after such a nice meal. As Americans, we are used to tipping generously (15% or more), but in this case we chose not to. It’s a shame, because with friendlier service this would have been a perfect experience.

This is a beautiful restaurant. The staff were super helpful and kind. They had a great sence of humor too. The food was fabulous! This is a must when visiting. The wine selection is very nice as well.

Wonderful ofc the beaten path restaurant! Delicious food, warm atmospheric, beautiful tile work and lovely owner and “front of house” Javier. Hard to stop talking to Javier! Whether you want a quiet cup of quality coffee or a small plate with a glass of wine or an entire meal (I basic had all three!) I highly recommend! Located right by the castle museum & statue of Flora MacDonald.

Nestled by the river, McBain’s by the River is a charming restaurant known for its locally sourced seafood and meat dishes. Run by a husband and wife team, it offers a relaxing ambiance and excellent service. The menu features dishes made with the finest Scottish ingredients, such as smoked salmon, fish and chips, scallops, scampi linguini, and venison. Guests rave about the delicious food and recommend making reservations due to its intimate setting.
A Small Family-Run Restaurant with a Lot to Offer We were walking around, soaked by the pouring UK rain, and were very lucky to find a table without a booking. What a hidden gem! The dishes came out fast and hot. The venison was the highlight of the meal – incredibly tender with a smooth texture, almost like dove meat, and had a distinct, pleasant aroma. The pasta was also excellent, cooked perfectly with fresh seafood and fragrant spices. A cozy, satisfying spot—definitely worth a visit!
Kidfly007 — Google review
We looked on trip advisor for a place to eat. My husband was excited to see McBain's because Bean is derived from that. We walked in and they said they were full. As we were standing outside a table left and the owner came and told us we could be seated. They were all so nice, and the food was really good. We had venison, salmon, curry, and the sirloin. The desserts were amazing. The sickly toffee pudding was amazing!! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Tremendous lunch!! Snuck in at 1:55pm. Reservations for dinner must be tricky. Maybe 15 tables? Freshest scallops and shrimp I’ve had in a long time. Super nice staff.

One of the best restaurants in Inverness! We went here yesterday and loved it so much that we booked a table again for today — and it was just as amazing the second time! The food was delicious, especially the duck and the goat’s cheese — full of flavour and perfectly cooked. The service was outstanding — such a kind and welcoming family running the place. And the atmosphere is unbeatable. It's a beautiful spot to enjoy dinner by the river. Highly recommend if you're in Inverness

Eden Court Inverness is a premier entertainment center in the Highlands, offering a diverse performing arts program across its main and studio theaters, as well as film screenings in two cinemas. Situated on the riverside near Inverness Cathedral, this 19th-century palace and chapel complex provides stunning views of the River Ness. With over 400 live theatre performances, 2000 cinema screenings, and 60 weekly classes and events, it offers an array of activities for visitors.
Came for Mànran concert and it's my first time visiting Edens Court, but it won't br my last as I already have future events lined up. The venue is beautiful, even the car drive to the venue going across the Loch banks is beautiful. The architecture is very modern and stylish, today just happened to be an extra event as a biking event begins tomorrow and so there were many tents on the outside to explore to do with cycling. The venue is accessible and includes disabled parking for badge holders (like myself) and the badge holders get to park for free which is a nice touch. The inside and main entrances are very wide and so very wheelchair, rollater and walking aid friendly, there are disabled toilets which I got to experience at half time of the show. These have all the necessary stuff along with some very nice hand soaps. The theatre was accessible via ramp and so no stairs or blockages were in the way. There is good and drink within Edens court, since the day was special there were places on the outside that we got some chips and a drink from. We did get ice cream at half time of the show which was nice and priced fairly. The actual arena was bigger than I thought it would be, I was pleasantly surprised...good leg room and the seating is tiered which means everyone gets to see. The venue staff were very friendly and Mànran were ofcourse magnificent. I very much enjoyed my evening. Edens court has 2 theatres and one is even a cinema so you can go wat h the latest movies aswell as your favourite musicals and live performances.
David S — Google review
Eden Court Theatre and Cinema is a truly customer focused venue. Staff are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. There are multiple theatres with good disabled access. A well stocked bar and kiosk area. The menu is quite limited but, for a light bite, your needs are met. Good parking, great location for pre/ post show bars and restaurants nearby. Hotels are plentiful and they range from budget friendly to budget bursting. The seating in the main 800 seat auditorium is wonderful. Very spacious and comfortable. Every seat offers a superb view of the stage. If you buy front row seats, be aware that when it comes to intervals, you are required to remain seated until the safety curtain has been lowered/ risen. Something to note if you tend to need the loo more often than others. The auditorium sound is fantastic making shows more enjoyable. We have seen all sorts of shows from drag to comedy and musicals to concerts and the atmosphere, sound and temperature within the auditorium has been perfect. We have seen Pride Drag Artists from Highland Pride Event, several Steve Steinman productions, Blood Brothers, Six, Jesus Christ Superstar, Rocky Horror, Edinburgh Byrne and so many more. For a great, comfortable and safe night out, check out Eden Court's website for upcoming events.

We were here in the summer and they had a large tent setup in the yard with different bands playing authentic Scottish music. It was pretty cool and the people were very friendly. They also had a drink vendor with both beers and sodas available which was quite nice.

Went to see Dara O'Briain. Very funny and an amazing story of family connection. We didnt have the best seat, boxes on stage left but knew that when booking. Full house but no issue getting in or out. The place has a good flow. Plenty of parking but don't leave it too late as it can be a snails crawl looking for that elusive parking space between two monster trucks. Highly recommend venue.

Nestled in the heart of Inverness, Whin Park is a serene oasis that offers a perfect escape from the city's hustle and bustle. It's a great spot for families with its superb play park, boating pond, and charming ice cream and coffee shop. The park also features picnic tables and a narrow gauge train ride that both kids and adults can enjoy. Although it may be a bit out of the way, using GPS will lead you straight to this lovely park.
The update to this park is absolutely fantastic! There's so much to do and every piece has been chosen and created with all ages of children in mind... maybe some adults too 🤭 We came to celebrate a 5th birthday with a group of friends and stayed all day, wven when it started to rain! The miniature railway is fantastic for for £3 and there's so much to spot on the wee journey it takes! All adults agreed that it was one of the best parks in the north and with plans to return again soon.
Tabitha S — Google review
I see there are a lot of recent poor reviews and I can understand why. This park seems forgotten. It is a lovely park with nice walks around the boating pond. I visited Whin Park in Inverness in October and the Autumn colours were lovely. I hope this park will be restored in time, meanwhile it will probably receive poor reviews.
Allan M — Google review
I loved Whin park. We stopped there after visiting Inverness botanic gardens. We had lunch at one of the many picnic benches. It was so nice sitting next to the duck pond which was full of baby ducks, it was like "duck nursery" as there were no adult ducks around, just ducklings playing 🦆🦆. The children's play park looked so much fun, one of the best public kids play parks I've seen, lots to do for the wee ones. There are loads of slides, swings, roundabouts you cycle, things to climb/jump on, made me wish I was a kid again. There are no dogs allowed in Whin park which was nice as there was no chance of stepping in something nasty. There is a boating pond but it was closed when we were there. If you go through the park and out the other side it brings you out on the banks of the river Ness, there is a nice walk along the riverside (not a proper path though, just where people have made a path overtime). There are toilets and plenty of parking
Paula D — Google review
“Fantastic family park in Inverness!” Whin Park is such a wonderful place to spend a few hours, especially with kids. The play areas are spacious and well-kept, with plenty of equipment for different ages. My son loved the adventure playground and the little boating pond — it was the highlight of our visit! There’s also a miniature railway (seasonal), lovely walking paths, and lots of green space for picnics. The park feels safe, clean, and full of life, yet still peaceful with beautiful views of the trees and water. Parking is convenient, and it’s only a short walk from Ness Islands. If you’re visiting Inverness with children, Whin Park is a must — it’s free, fun, and full of happy memories waiting to be made.
Anitha K — Google review
Lovely park for the kids. I recommend to bring a towel to dry the swings, etc as they are often wet in the morning. While there is an outer perimeter fence it does have openings so you need to keep an eye of for your children.

Just had an evening walk through the newly refurbished Whin Park in Inverness and it was lovely. The upgrades have really made a difference – the pathways are smoother, lighting is better, and the whole place feels cleaner and more inviting. The new play areas looked great and were full of happy kids. We enjoyed the peaceful walk by the pond, watching the ducks and taking in the fresh air. It felt safe and family-friendly, with plenty of benches to relax on. A fantastic improvement to an already loved spot – perfect for a quiet stroll or family outing.

Nestled in the heart of Inverness, the Inverness Botanic Gardens and Café offer a delightful escape into the world of flora. The gardens boast a diverse range of plants from around the globe, including tropical species housed in beautiful greenhouses and formal gardens showcasing local breeds. Visitors can wander through themed areas such as savannah-inspired landscapes and tranquil carp ponds with cascading waterfalls.
What a lovely and amazing place! It's not the biggest botanical gardens (especially compared to the ones in big cities), but the variety of flowers is amazing! They keep it slightly wild for all the bees, flies and other animals! It's got some cactuses, tropical plants and (rather poor) fish. You can even "purchase" plants against donations. Cafe and toilets available. If you are in Inverness and have a spare hour or two: visit the Botanical Gardens!
Tina S — Google review
Inverness Botanic Gardens is a place we visit every so often, and there’s always something interesting to see. The gardens change throughout the year, so there’s always something new to admire. We especially love the greenhouse and the cacti collection. Whenever we visit, we pop into the café — the food is always very tasty, and you're welcomed with a smile. It’s a great place to bring visiting friends and family, find inspiration, or simply relax.
Maria D — Google review
Cute but unfortunately too much is inaccessible. I would say if you are not s confident all terrain wheelchair user (which I am not), probably only about 40% of the space outdoors and in the greenhouses is accessible to you. As everyone says, it is really a lovely space but if you are parked in the corner while the others are exploring it's not great. Getting there, main entrance and cafe are all fab but it did suddenly get very crowded when we were about to leave.
Jamila F — Google review
A truly fantastic hidden gem in the heart of Inverness! The gardens are beautifully maintained, offering a peaceful escape with a vibrant tropical glasshouse and a stunning cactus collection. A must-visit for anyone seeking tranquility and natural beauty.
William F — Google review
I liked Inverness botanic gardens but when we visited there was a wedding in the tropical house so we couldn't see in there, I was gutted as that's the bit I was looking forward to most. We still had a nice time. My boyfriend and dad sat in the cafe (my dad has mobility issues and can't walk much) and my mum and I wandered round the gardens, the flowers were beautiful!! They had a wee quiz about bees for the kids, I did it aswell ( and I'm 44 😂), it was fun though and a good way to keep the wee ones interested. It was a wee trail you follow, you do a different thing on the sheet as you go round, answering questions and drawing pictures. There are toilets and a cafe here. It is accessible for wheelchairs. Plenty of parking available
Paula D — Google review
Lovely place to visit, so glad we did! It is beautifully taken care of, gorgeous outdoor gardens even in the rain and the greenhouses were amazing. Cafe looked super busy, the staff in the entrance area seemed very stressed and not the most friendly, but it was a busy Sunday with a que for the cafe running through the entrance way. The toilets were very small and cramped, and parking was a bit rough.

Very nice botanical gardens. Located right off the river adjacent to the Ness Islands it’s a great walking destination from town. Gardens are on the smaller side but there’s plenty to see and some very neat greenhouses. We found it to be a nice stop while in Inverness and relatively empty when we visited on a weekday afternoon.

Ness Islands, also known as "the islands" locally, are a collection of small islands in the middle of the River Ness in Inverness City Centre. Connected by charming footbridges, these scenic and tree-filled islands offer walking paths and opportunities to spot wildlife such as otters, seals, and deer. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the riverfront area on both banks of the River Ness or take a mini train ride for a delightful experience.
Stunning forested area to walk around in. Even on a slightly drizzly and overcast day like it was for my visit, this was still an incredibly relaxing and scenic place to stroll. The tree cover also helped keep the rain off. Paths are well maintained so no trip hazards, and there are plenty of seats incase your legs get tired.

A peaceful place to walk around and relax. Many benches and view points all around the islands 🏝 River Ness flows from each and every corner with a few cascades and small islands. Well lit and tarmacked paths. Victorian bridges and colourful trees. You can have a good walk around from city centre on one side through the Ness islands and bridges to the other side and back. It's an hour walk if you're not stopping but you better dedicate more time as you would likely stop enjoying the scenery.

Ness Island offers some really unusual views of the River Ness. It is a special area. We met loads of dog walkers. If you have a dog best kept on a lead but there are areas you can let them off. The hotel's delicious breakfast and impressive dinner service have also been highlighted. Visitors have raved about the comfortable beds, beautiful rooms, and welcoming staff. What a lovely hotel--great location in the Crown area of Inverness. Quiet and family-friendly area, but close to downtown Inverness--just a short walk or bus ride from a stop two minutes away. The rooms are brand new with a spacious bathroom--awesome amounts of counter space!! a very generous wardrobe, and the bed!!! The perfect combination of firm and fluffy--slept so well! The food is delicious and they have a great pub crowd. Best of all, the staff is amazing--warm, welcoming and friendly! I made the awful mistake of leaving my jewelry behind--always check every drawer and cupboard!! They assured me, found it, and shipped it back to me, and I am beyond grateful!! Put the Heatmount on the top of your list for your Inverness visit!! (Oh, and they have PARKING!! 😉)

A small hotel but a great pick! Room was smaller but had plenty of space to open suitcases and bags. (Suggestion for the hotel - a portable luggage rack would be a plus.) Bathroom was very modern and nicely done. Looks like they have redecorated recently and they did a very nice job. I am a shorter person and I had a hard time getting up into the bed as it was quite high but, once up, it was very comfortable. Location made it easy to walk to the downtown area. In-hotel restaurant was good and their bar looked extensive as they had a wide variety of cocktail specials. Free parking was a plus.

It's an unfortunate visit because I really wanted to like the place. However the food was a huge let down, What on earth is going on? Everything is just so random and doesn't go well with each other. Felt like I was eating random leftovers that didn't belong to the same dish, just left me confused and desperate to was my mouth with anything else, although I must say the beans they have in the sandwiches were really good. Fair to say overall I didn't like the food or the drinks. And on top of that, getting a few strands of hair in my food was just too much, I understand these things can happen and expected, but seeing how they prepared the food with no hygiene awareness was disappointing, and ought to happen again and again. 2 stars because am feeling generous as the atmosphere was somewhat nice.

First time i was here before COVID pandemic and now second time. This place is never empty. Nice fresh bright atmosphere. Kind helpful staff. Soup of the day a little bit expensive. I ordered baked eggs in ricotta served with salad and toasted sourdough. As a drink i have got chamomile tea. Sourdough was too much burn for me both times, so i did not ate him. Baked eggs mix with ricotta it is interesting idea but nothing special taste for me. Salad served with eggs was really tasty. I started from this salad and i can not stop until i ate it all. I will back for more salad. One star less for burnt toast. I would definitely recommending this place.

Beautiful and convenient café for cyclists with a workshop. Their menu is vegetarian and has a nice range of options, in fact I wanted several. Portions are large and they are pet friendly too. The service was very friendly, efficient and accommodating too!

The menu is vegetarian with vegan options. The staff is doing a great job. The food is amazing. The toilet was clean!!! A great community space that deserves all the support!!!! We visited during rush hour, but they have a system and we didn't wait too long to be sited.

I visited this cafe on my daughters recommendation,,,,,,,,and had a great experience! Service was fantastic, I simply had a coffee but my daughter says their food is outstanding. They are also super dog friendly, so my collie got tons of attention which he loves! The decor and artwork on the walls is fab and in soothing shades of blue,,,,,I like that the cafe is a social enterprise and hosts community events,,,,a great find,,,,I highly recommend a visit...

We’ve been here two days in a row, once for lunch and once for breakfast. I am so happy such a place exists in Inverness! The entire idea behind the store and the restaurant, their openness and their vegetarian and vegan food is amazing! We had lunch combos (sandwich and soup) and porridge for breakfast - the best I tried out of my kitchen :-) (they were so nice they also put an extra banana in it). Their coffee (we tried the flat white) is very tasty and well done, too. Will come again for sure!

Wonderful little cafe with a really exciting menu and a delicious selection of cakes! I had the pulled mushroom benedict, which was covered in a gorgeous selection of wild mushrooms and some unreal saffron hollandaise. Please open a shop in London!

Sandwich shop
Breakfast restaurant
Lettuce Eat Sandwich Shop is a small deli-style takeaway outlet that offers custom, create-your-own, and signature sandwiches. The shop also features a salad bar where customers can enjoy healthy greens and beans at great prices. Customers have the flexibility to create their own deli sandwiches and salad boxes. Additionally, there is a selection of delicious soups available at affordable prices. The shop has garnered praise for its friendly staff, large portions, and affordable prices.
I ordered the beef wrap with cheese, and it was incredibly cheesy. Most importantly, the price was very fair. Remark, no table in the store.
Juthathat K — Google review
Best sandwich shop in Inverness and very reasonably priced for the portion sizes and quality! Their food has always stayed at a high standard throughout the years I have used them! The salad box is the best iv ever tasted!

What a great place to grab a quick take-away lunch! Owner and staff so friendly and the sandwiches were fresh and very filling. Great value for the money. Highly recommend stopping here if you are ever in Inverness.
Louise M — Google review
Lovely shop, the atmosphere was amazing and the food was excellent. I will be visiting many more times and highly recommend it. Great place for food dietary restrictions. Prices are low. The shop is cramped but it adds to the charm. No availability to dine inside or parking space nearby because of the location.
Julia R — Google review
The Sandwich Shop is very small which makes it nice and quiet with no lengthy waiting times. Whilst the service of this establishment is very friendly, welcoming and fast, the same cannot be said much about the food. When having a Tuna Baguette, the tuna itself is extremely creamy and full of mayonnaise with no thick chunks of tuna. The same went for the Coronation Chicken, no large chunks of chicken which you would normally have on a Coronation Chicken. All you can literally taste is mayonnaise. One other time, I ordered a Cold Chicken Baguette (Brown) with lettuce, cucumber, tomato, carrot and red onions in which the small size of baguette caused the entire fillings to fall out of the bread upon unwrapping it! The chicken and salad though tasted nice and something I would most likely have again. Overall, a decent sandwich shop with great staff and low prices but could drastically improve on the fillings and portion sizes.

Tasty food. I ordered - baked potato with egg mayonnaise and fresh vegetables. Plus cup with lentil soup. Maybe potato with salad was not look the best and was not healthy, but it is was tasty. Lentil soup was look good and was really tasty. I will back again for the soup. Price was good. Thank you.

Glenmoriston Townhouse Hotel Inverness

4.2

Hotel
Conference center
Glenmoriston Townhouse Hotel in Inverness is a luxurious hotel with a cocktail bar and a restaurant serving delectable Scottish cuisine. The newly remodeled apartments are fully equipped and provide comfortable beds. The hotel's proximity to the River Ness allows for easy access to the town and city center, where guests can explore various attractions on foot, including the nearby Inverness Castle.
We stayed in Apartment 1 on our first and last nights in Scotland, and it was perfect. I chose the Glenmoriston for its location on the Ness Walk and am so happy I did. The apartment was large, clean, and well-equipped (and it had its own assigned parking place!), and the location is beautiful and walkable to the city. The breakfast was one of the best we had while in Scotland. I would 100% stay here again!
Laura S — Google review
This is a review for the restaurant within Glenmoriston Townhouse. We were booked for Friday evening and we were pleased to have a window seat. There was plenty parking at the back of the hotel, entrance from the riverside. The menu options were not that great for a hotel this size. I was expecting a more traditional menu. I had chicken pieces, chips and a spicy sauce for dip. What I had was very nice and a good enough portion. We left slightly disappointed, other places have a better menu.
Allan M — Google review
Great location to Inverness city centre. The rooms were standard maybe a bit dated. Small TVs, old shower facilities and single mattress double bed. No air con or air circulation with limitation to open the window due to outside noise (air con for restaurant, car park, deliveries). Food was good. Description of dishes was punchy yet it seems they had to explain every dish. Overall a nice stay yet the value for the price we paid wasn’t worth it.
Volker B — Google review
The best hotel in Inverness. I fell in love with the old style decoration, beautiful cottages, our gorgeous room, every detail is cozy and stylish. The staff is super nice and helpful. Perfect location and views of the river Ness and the city. The restaurant serves amazing local food, perfect culinary experience. Live music in the piano bar, so cool. We will return for sure.
Clara S — Google review
While some aspects of this hotel were quite good, it was not exactly what I had expected. The staff for the most part were polite, professional and friendly. The breakfast was pretty good although there could be more options. The room itself was small and quite outdated. The carpet needs to be replaced. There are heavy cloth curtains over the windows that are just dust collectors. The room we stayed in needs a total revamp. The bed was pretty bad. Each morning we were awoken by loud plumbing noises when other clients were using the water/shower. Often the hot water in the sink would suddenly turn cold. The bathroom is also very outdated. Our room was on the second floor of an annex building. There is no elevator and we had to carry two very heavy suitcases up the stairs….no one told us this when we checked in and no one offered to help us with our bags. There is no safe in the room and there is no fridge. The room overall was dull, dark and dingy. The cleaning staff would fail to fully replenish everything in the room, something would always be overlooked. There area the hotel is located in is very nice, right beside the river Ness. However, it is a bit of a walk from the main streets in town, which is fine if you enjoy the privacy and a don’t mind a short walk to town. When we checked out no one asked if we had an enjoyable stay or thanked us for or stay. During our stay, no one bothered to ask if we were having a good stay or if we needed anything. Overall, we were not impressed, for the price we paid we had expected a much better experience. I would not stay here again.

I participated in the 2025 Loch Ness marathon and chose this hotel due to proximity to the event village and also the anticipated level of comfort pre and post race. Despite booking nearly a year in advance I still paid upwards of £600 for a two night stay (not including breakfast). Whilst I appreciate accommodation is at a premium during marathon weekend and prices inflated as a result, I still feeling this represents extremely poor value for money. We were allocated a room in the annex directly above the function room. Upon checking in we were helpfully told an event would be taking place that night and hopefully there wouldn’t be “too much noise”. Had we been warned in advance I would have made alternative arrangements. Instead, we were forced to listen to thumping bass until 12 am. Even when the music subsided I found it really difficult to relax and drift off to sleep. Not ideal prep for running a marathon and frankly I felt my performance was impacted as a result, which is pretty crushing when you’ve trained for 16 weeks to achieve a specific time goal. Aside from the sleep disruption, the room was probably 3* at best and could definitely have used some modernisation, the bathroom was functional but basic. We ate in the restaurant one evening and whilst the food was very good, the overall atmosphere was pretty raucous with several large groups celebrating birthdays. To add - my husband complained about the noise the following day and the manager agreed to take some money off the bill. Whilst we appreciate the gesture I’d advise anyone looking for a restful night sleep to ensure they are not likely to encounter the same issues as we did. The hotel is used by a lot of tour groups so you may find they are allocated the better/quieter rooms, irrespective of when the booking is made.

We had an exceptional experience at our sons wedding thanks to Kelly's co-ordination. She ensured every detail ran smoothly. Additionally the attention paid to my special dietary requirements was greatly appreciated with delicious options prepared perfectly. Kelly's professionalism and care made all the difference. I highly recommend this as a wedding venue.

When we first stayed here we loved it so much we booked it again for the following year. It's the perfect location to just walk into the city and enjoy beautiful Inverness. Also the car park is a huge plus. The staff is extremely friendly and the breakfast is absolutely delicious! We will come back again when we will be staying in Inverness. :)

Sunday Roast for 2 Amazing Service from a top gentleman named Daniel. The one with the pony tail. Such a nice person , felt welcomed and looked after even due to shortage of staff . People should really stop for a second and appreciate hospitality workers , for the persistent hard work. Highly recommended. Definitely will be back 🌟

Visited this place today on a sunny afternoon. It was not too crowded and instantly got the seating. We started our meal with Cocktails. We had Berry Martini and Berry Margarita. Both were prepared nicely and well presented with dried raspberries on top of Berrytini. Berry Margarita comes off very strong at first but I couldn’t stop sipping it after a while. We ordered Calamari and Double Crunch wings for starters. The Calamari was served with spicy mayo and we went for Mango and Peach Habanero dip for our wings. Don’t forget to drizzle the lemon on the calamari, it just elevates it. We enjoyed the freshly prepared starters by mix matching the dips. For mains we decided to go for Mix Grill and Chicken and Rib combo with BBQ sauce. The food was cooked to perfection and especially loved the chargrilled corn on the grill. Reminded me of the corn that I used to savour in India. The chicken was succulent and the ribs were very tender. The smoky flavour of the grill definitely elevated the meat. Chips were very filling for me so I would recommend going for fries so you can have a proper 3 course meal. Quantity was good enough to fill us and hence couldn’t try the desserts. But will surely be back. Good customer service by Daniel.

Beefeater is always a favourite for me, it can be a hit or a miss sometimes but on this occasion it was fantastic. I had the house stack burger and my girlfriend had the sirloin steak, it all came out piping hot and tasted great although I really wish they would take back the sesame seed buns as the brioche ones have an aftertaste and ruin the burger. The restaurant is clean and tidy but would do with a bit of makeover due to the size of it, the food was great as our previous visit wasn't that good here, so it made up for that.

Toilet dirt and smell bad. No Toilet paper in women Toilet. 45 min wait for starters. Squid was over cooked not the best. Stake was not cook like order. Good fish and chips. Stake house burger was not so bad ,but meat was not juce at all was dry. Dessert was very good. And ginger bread drink was good. And salads on grilled mixs was old.
Iveta P — Google review
Save your time - our starters took nearly an hour to arrive at 3pm (not even peak hour). We realised this was because the food was left at the kitchen counter for a while and we had to grab our starters ourselves even though the servers were not busy. The soup tasted obviously canned, and the wings were pretty pathetic. After 1.5h, the rump steaks arrived (medium rare and medium well) and both were extremely over cooked. The centre of my “medium well” steak was a whitish brown and extremely under seasoned. The only saving grace was that I returned it to the kitchen and was offered a decent remade steak. Even though Beefeater is not expensive, I’d save the frustration and go somewhere else. This place deserves a kitchen nightmare episode.

Stayed at the Premier Inn attached to this pub, first night went to get a meal to take up to room, it was absolutely disgusting! Cooked to death, tasteless and cost a ridiculous amount of money. Next day went down to breakfast and was met with empty food stations a surly waiter who said it was been very busy earlier and thats all that's left and if we had come earlier we probably wouldn't have found a table. Shocking attitude which didn't vary much all week, understaffed in morning by undertrained staff.
Charlotte F — Google review
Great starters, main was good but some of the chicken was pink and the beef wasn't cooked to my taste asked for medium well and it was more medium. Also was sat near two tables of 12 so was very busy and destroyed the nice atmosphere we had at the start.
Bryony B — Google review
Ate off the festive menu and it was mostly really nice. One star removed because the yorkie was pretty over cooked and it was an extra I paid separately for. Apart from that both my companion and myself enjoyed our meals, even though I couldn't clear any of my plates. And I got double custard with my pudding

The food very good. We order a family pack and it's great value for money. Kids enjoyed their kids meals and it's half haddock for kids meal - just great and tasty. Best fish and chips I've ever tried. Superb and delicious. The fish is fresh and juicy underneath the crispy skin
Joanna K — Google review
Tried here tonight and went for the breaded haddock with chips. The service was good and quite quick so no problems there. Unfortunately the fish was a bit overcooked and totally ruined by too much salt put on by the server. Shame
Chris B — Google review
Waited 45 minutes for a kids haddock meal which is clearly not haddock. Never ate from there in years and today reminded me why. I want to give -50 stars. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING

Fantastic chip shop with the staff adhering to current guidelines. Family of 6 of us, all with different meals and everyone enjoyed it with clear plates all round. The customer service was very good, the lad had a smile on his face and said please and thank you (goes a long way)

Stood for over 7 minutes with no acknowledgement from staff. Rodeo burger was awesome though, chips were alrite. Had it not of been for the Rodeo burger this probably would of been a 1 star review. Such a shame as it used to be a lovely place.
Alex D — Google review
Pizza part is good & the chip shop part is also good. Sometimes chips are a bit dry but then sometimes they are fresh, it's a hit or a miss really! Had a few problems with delivery with them forgetting juice with order but they have always gone back & then re-delivered juice straight away.
TrueHighlander67 — Google review
Terrible experience with this Chip shop. Asked for 2 battered fish, emphasis on "BATTERED" 3 TIMES over the phone - received 2 BREADED fish! Really?! Simple instruction you would've thought??? To add insult to injury, one of the fish was half the size of the other! The 2 portions of chips ordered were basically steamed in their container. Soggy, tasteless and not a crispy one in site. Chicken breast dry and had probably been in the heater for too long. That's £26 down, and most of it in the bin. Not impressed. Take note!
J Y — Google review
Arrived exactly at the time ordered for. How it was still so wonderfully hot is a miracle. Best chips I've ever had and the other items also done perfectly. Driver very polite and friendly. Top class delivery experience. Thank you
