A lovely experience at the Aquarium today! It’s bigger than I expected with a lot of rooms and spaces for different species. I went on a weekday around 3pm and it was pretty empty. Lovely to walk around and learn about marine life. There’s bathrooms available and a foodcourt right outside the exit once you are done with some little stores.

The aquarium is medium-sized. All is display only. They have plenty of souvenir stores inside. They DO NOT have a dolphin show or penguin show. Some of the locals that work around the area claim that they do. So, do not be fooled.

Acuario de Veracruz is an amazing experience! The variety of marine life is incredible, and the exhibits are both educational and visually stunning. It’s a perfect spot for families and anyone who loves sea creatures. Highly recommend visiting!

Went in to get out of the heat. It was bigger than what we expected. They have a lot of interesting fish and aquatic animals. There are doing some construction so some exhibits were closed. Missing description of fish but we just used Google to look up names of fish. Exciting the aquarium is a food court.

The aquarium was amazing. We also went to the wax museum and Ripley's museum. It was well worth it.

Arguably one of the best aquarium in Mexico, huge variety of sea creatures, beautiful parrots, and top of all living penguin in an Aquarium, astonishingly surprised to see penguins once in a life time experience. Really worth a visit.

No place to just put your towel, whole beach is occupied with chairs of the nearby restaurants. And they scam you promising the table is free if you buy a drink from them, which is not true, they will force you to pay for it later anyway. Our very first time here .El Malecon del Puerto de Veracruz. Was so full of life lots of little stands , people selling all kids of things... you can walk, shop drink and see all the things the sell. I bought a couple of things , clothes, coffee mug.. I collect coffee mugs from the places I go. When you take a picture at the sign that says Veracruz, people will take your picture and make a key chain and a portrait to see if you want to buy it, you don't have too. We got to see a the ships sailing and the ones ones coming into the port. It was pretty hot and humid 😫 , I guess because we were by the sea.🌊

The experience with reservations staff eliminates the appeal of coming here. When calling via phone, someone does answer right away, but after getting transferred to reservations, I am either hung up on, or no one answers. This is with calling several times on Wednesday and Thursday, during normal business hours. Additionally, the staff on the Whatsapp channel does not respond, either. With regards to the rooms, my experience has been they are clean, with above average appeal for the area. The main restaurant is definitely the high point of this establishment. However, even with these high marks, the reservations staff experience is enough to deter me from another stay AND provide me the motivation to warn anyone else before deciding to come here. Think about that carefully if you are considering staying here.

Horrible customer service. Their staff is friendly but highly inefficient. The location is good if you want to stay Downtown, but I think Boca del Rio is better if you are a tourist.

Right above and directly connected to the malecon boardwalk, this hotel has secure parking across the street, beautiful views of the port, great food options (highly recommend the club rooms with sky lounge breakfast). Great service, great location. I preferred it over Grand Fiesta Americana.

Location was great but front desk people not so great at night. Especially with no security. Some one tried to open my room door while I was there with my daughter's. Notify the night people but they never said anything back the next day !

We were happy with the rooms which were clean and comfortable.They hava a good harbour view and very quiet ACs. While the food in the restaurant was ok the.service was poor. Dishes were missed and drinks delivered haphazardly, sometimes after we finished eating. You are better off dining out.

Stayed for 3 nights, rooms were clean nice view to the ocean, lots of things going around it, walking distance to all the local stores,restaurants etc.

Unfortunately, this is really a 3 star hotel that pretends to be a 5 star hotel. The room’s toilet made a very loud noise every minute which required the water to be turned off when not in use. The refrigerator did not work at all. While the three pools are nice, it would be better if they provided dedicated pool towels instead of requiring the use of the room towels. The restaurant was mediocre for lunch. The overall location is nice with a good view on the balcony of the city and the port/ships. Service is very friendly throughout the hotel. The price in dollars per night is quite good and I’m sure the hotel is one of the best in the area, but it is not 5 stars.

This is the first nice restaurant I took my wife to when I met her in mexico. I was so lucky it is really good food really good menu very nice stuff. Some of the staff speak English there is an English menu. Enough English to take care of the bill to order and to enjoy the evening it is a wonderful place I highly recommended. Every time we're in Veracruz my wife wants to eat there. We are from Xalapa. We spent about 500 pesos but bear in mind this is drinks starters soup or salad and a main course meal such as steak.

An authentic Argentinian steak house. Twenty six years of tradition and uninterrupted service and consistency cannot be disregarded at Che Tango. Mollejas are a must as well as the tango salad. We ordered a vacio and it was perfectly cooked served on an iron cast heated perfectly only to keep the warmth of the beef cut without interfering on the cooking point requested. Don’t miss the soufflé chips and don’t forget to congratulate the captain on his 19th year of service!

To be honest I was pretty disappointed with my experience here. I asked what the steaks come with and was told onions etc but when it came it was just a steak with nothing else. Thankfully I ordered a side of fries but even that was really small so I literally just had a plain steak with a few chips. Also at no point did anyone come to check how I was getting on with everything, even though the restaurant was basically empty and they had plenty of staff. Overall it was ok but considering the price I paid by myself (over mxn $1,000) the service wasn't that great and the food really wasn't particularly special. Unfortunately the staff seemed much more interested in the football that was all over the TVs than attending to their customers. Update: The manger reached out and was very kind to offer my money back so I have reflected this better service in my review

This place is not as good as you think, portions seem very limited and they seem very stingy when you ask them to serve you more water or bring you more bread, they are not attentive. This was my first time coming here I was extremely disappointed coming from far away.

Stylish ambient to enjoy a perfectly grilled delicious meat

Wonderful little restaurant. Excellent service. We were there for a small family gathering and were sat in a private room. The food: starter was a choice of empanada- delicious! Followed by tortilla soup or cream of celery. Then our table was served three platters of different cuts of steak and sausage. Each platter had the meat cooked to a different temperature so as to please all tastes. Overall we really enjoyed our meal. Highly recommend!

A hidden gem...happened to come across this restaurant with upscale service. Loved the way they prepared our food right next to us! Our meals were fantastic and their flan is one of the best I've ever had. Met the owner, very well mannered and personable. Best restaurant experience on this trip!! So glad we parked further away from the beach :)

I celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday here last year while on vacation, and we were absolutely satisfied. The service was excellent, the food was incredibly fresh and delicious, and we couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate. The pictures speak for themselves, and I would come back anytime!

If you only go to one restaurant in Veracruz, make it Mardel. The restaurant specializes in a Farm-to-Table and Port-to-Table experience, resulting in a wonderful fusion cuisine with charming Mexican roots and international flairs. During my 4 weeks of travels in Mexico, my girlfriend and I often dreamed that exactly this is what Mexican cuisine could be. Abraham is a cook of whom we will hear more in the future. The atmosphere is wonderful, the service is great, and just being greeted with warm, rich sourdough bread is a treat. Simple, honest, satisfying. There are few restaurants that I can recommend as much as I recommend this one.

Now you can enjoy inside restaurant or The terraza, feel the breeze and enjoy local food and drinks. They have new menu and the wine list are amazing. The service is beyond amazing and the food is so good, they have something from each region of Veracruz, you will see local chefs and restauranteurs spending sometime here. We had two dishes there. The sepia en la plancha was good but quite expensive, for 350 pesos and the paella marinera, that shows the price for 1 person but they'll charge you the double because they only make for two (225,00 x 2) which makes a sort of misunderstanding. Anyway the paella looked nice but it didn't have much flavor nor taste. The shrimps' heads were a bit dark, that was because of too much preservative. The mussels were tiny and no taste whatsoever. Very few small pieces of fish, and no taste. Service was ok.

We came here through recommendations. But it’s quite disappointing. We ordered a soup, ceviche and paella. Ceviche is a bit different from what we have had before but maybe it’s a new thing we didn’t know. So we will say it’s okay. The clams and mussels in the paella are disappointing, which made the whole dish taste bad. What made it worse is that the meal was not cheap either. Almost NYC price I’d say but I had much better paella with the prices.

I ordered the braised beef ribs ,the plate came with two pieces one of them was tasty but the other taste old and dry. I also order a side of rice and I paid a 750 which I think was overpriced.

Although the Cepia a la plancha was well prepared and delicious, we were very disappointed with the tasteless parrilla marinera. The price was exorbitant, the shrimps were over treated with preservatives, clams tasteless. Oh... By the way, they present the parrilla price per person, but only make it for two at least, we felt cheated....

Best food I've ever had in a long time, a bit expensive but so worth it. If you're planning on going make sure you call for a reservation hours before because it gets packed especially on the weekends. The "costilla de res horneada" It's amazing "la paella" it's so good, for desserts "helado de leche de cabra" best I've ever had. Overall one of the best I've ever attended. It's a major go!

We visited Zócalo de Veracruz a couple of times when we stayed in Veracruz. The architecture is really lovely and there is a nice local vibe. One night there was a band and people dancing in the square. Great spot to enjoy the historical centre.

Beautiful and relaxing little plaza in the heart of historic Veracruz. The church is quite and sobering. There are 3 hotels within sight of the central fountain, with plenty of cafes, restaurants, and street vendors to chose from when the appetite hits. Walking distance from the Malecón, a couple of 200 year old restaurants, and the port itself. Recommended to wind down and recover some energies!

We went here on a Wednesday when the entrance is free. Overall it was an interesting couple of hours. Lots of exhibits, some are interactive like the ship bridge simulator - which my husband enjoyed playing. The bathrooms lacked soap. There is a cafe.

A must-visit museum while in Veracruz. The entrance fee was 30 pesos with the Inapam discount. The audio guide is very helpful in your tour of the museum. The price to rent the guide is 40 pesos or 25 pesos with the Inapam discount.

This is well worth a visit if you are in Veracruz even if you are not a military/history buff. A very well presented museum, with lots to see.

Most helpful young man gave me infomation in English. This is a well run aquarium where the birds and the sea creatures and dolphins are cared for so well. Loved my visit there today. The dolphin show was great and the instructors showed so much passion for their dolphins. An awesome experience.

Very big, beautiful museum of the port history, wars to defend Mexico, and the major characters of history. There are interactive technology displays and a childrens area. Everything is in Spanish. I was told by my local travel partner we would have to hire our own local tour guide for English explanation, so I am not sure if English audio, brochures, or assistance is available. You could easily spend 2 hours.

The Museum is worth the visit, the buiding and items that are in exposition are awesome and full of history. I would definitely recommend it.

This place is a “must visit” place if you are a tourist. It is typical of many Mexican indoor markets but this one has an amazing variety. This place seems to buzz with energy and commerce. A very fun place to visit.

Mercado Hidalgo..this few blocks from the Zocalo and 20 min aprox from the sea boardwalk (12 blocks). This is a place you must come. The best food and best sea food from scratch...all here is fresh. Does not look fancy..but is very comfy....i had great food and service at restaurant "Tampico puro sabor"

Mercado Hidalgo is a must stop while visiting El Puerto de Veracruz, plenty of places to eat, from tacos, tortas, seafood cocktails plus a great variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, pets etc.The place need a new remodeling it's almost exactly the same as over 30 years ago withe the exception of the meat department. If you're not used to the smell of blood stay away form the meat/fish/poultry section.

Massive market where you can find literally anything. A must for any visitors to veracruz. Give yourself at least two hours because you will get lost jajaja

Place used to have an amazing scenic view to get there. Unfortunately the place is now surrounded by walls, factories and just to get there is 20 min more to your tour. No signs to know more about the place and very reduced parking. Is not worth doing more than once

It is good place to visit if you go to Malecon de Veracruz, you can buy a hat ($100mx), an umbrella ($100) and glasses ($100mx) in the entrance; also you can contract a visitor guide to get a best experience(which cost is around $400MX per 6 persons). Access cost for San Juan de Ulua is $100MX.

We were not told ahead of time, but you must leave all food and drinks (other than water) in the ferry. Any candy. And the snacks and drinks purchased on the ferry as well. Unfortunately, my friend left her bag with candies just purchased and it went missing. Lots of walking involved. I suggest paying for the guided tour, very informative.

This is a great historical place to visit. It's a drive from the city so take a taxi or other transportation vehicle. Restrooms are available. Only water is allowed inside the fort not any flavored waters. Recommended to go early as it gets hot later in the day. There are guides available outside of the fort.

At least 450 years old, the existence of this fort predates the founding of Boston. The architecture corresponds to the military models of the time. It might not be as well preserved as other castle/forts in the Caribbean, but it certainly is worth your visit. I have 2 small children, and we found plenty to enjoy as a family in our 2 hour-long visit. You can hire private tour guides at the entrance, but there is also plenty of information online to inform you as you search its many nooks and crannies. It's well worth the 60 pesos entry fee.

Very interesting place. Tickets are around $85 pesos per adult. I recommend getting a tour guide (our charged $50 additional per person) to tell you the story. It is incredible how much has happened here. We took a trolley from the artisan market and paid $100 round trip per person. Everything is outside so consider sunblock, a hat and water.

Great historic fort with a lot to see. A pity that it's been allowed to degrade so much. Still, there seems to be a lot of work going into renovations of at least the core structures. Hopefully when I come back I can view this historic treasure in it's full glory. Definitely worth a visit. I would recommend the guided tour as well, there are a few English speaking guides.

Right in the heart of town, at the Zocalo.. the whole plaza at the zocalo becomes live when the sun goes down. Live music with different bands and marimbas playing your songs.

The restaurant was dirty (all tables with food remnants on and under them), the service incredibly rude (constantly walking away, ignoring orders or interruptions), and the food simply dreadful and disgusting. In the end, I had it packed to go and gave it to a homeless person, but even then, I felt bad. I genuinely can't express it in nicer words.

First stop in Veracruz, México for us (have been in Mexico for 6 weeks)... Ordered a beer, a wine and a guacamole while we perused the menu ... * Guac delivered, piled deep on plate with 8-10 chips max. * The guac had a shine to it, it seemed closer to pureed than anything * Taste was not there... Didn't seem like guacamole even in the worst state side restaurant We both assumed that a Costco sized can was opened in the morning and we were there at 7:00 pm. We paid what we owed, got out of there and not a prayer of going back... If you are a restaurant in Mexico who can't serve a good guacamole, there's not a prayer anything else on the menu will be any better... No picture because we were too upset about having to find another restaurant to waste time on a pic.

There are many great results with fantastic food and service in Veracruze City But some are just as wonderful at everything Regis resturante & bar is of course one of them

This is a must visit breakfast or dinner spot in Veracruz. Although it’s supposed to be Argentinian, the have lots of traditional dishes from the region. The place is about twice the size of others nearby so it’s a safe bet during typically busy hours.

Historic and somewhat chic restaurant in Veracruz, serving both Argentine and Mexican dishes. Great service and help with parking. Don't hesitate to order a Chiles en Nogada during the season, at least if you like "peppers" stuffed with meat and grapes, it was simply delicious. The prices remain reasonable. First time I go there by recomendation. The food is good but the wait... is horrible. The bigger groups of people are served first, so don't go alone. Chilaquiles and enchiladas are good, don't know about anything else because the rest of my food didn't arrived haha. Make the waitress write your order, or you going to have to repeat it several times, like me. After a bad service, the waitresses still expect a good tip, really. I hope your experience would be different, but for me it's not worth it.

I got there for taco reasons and not disappointed, I really like this place for a heavy dinner time. You got to split tour self between your tacon bisness and football game!

La Palapa Perra is just one of the places where I've had Ceviche de Pescado and liked me the most! I mean it, it tasted so fresh and delicious 🤤. Other people in my party had Shrimp Cocktail and they also mentioned that you can really tell the difference in the freshness of the shrimpy (they also loved it) The crew was super attentive and kind. As this places is not located in a Main street you can easily find free parking and a table for you.

Amazing food is served here and the service is excellent. This restaurant has been my favorite place during my stay in Veracruz. It is in walking distance to the Aquarium and the beaches.

I took a star cause the waiter could have done better. Make sure you order everything on the first round of orders. The view is amazing if you like eating your meal watching the ocean!!

It is said that no visit to Veracruz is complete if you don't have a cup of coffee in "La parroquia", I visited this location on a really hot day and decided to eat "al fresco" the ocean breeze was nice, and the atmosphere was great while sipping down a freshly pressed orange juice I deceided on a "milanesa a la veracruzana" which was a terrible mistake. WORST AIRPORT EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! I feel cheated and robbed. On my way home from Mexico, airport security confiscated two small, apple-shaped mosaic lamps from my carry-on because they were “too heavy.” Each couldn't have weighed more than 5 pounds. This was my third trip to Mexico, and I have never heard of nor experienced this absurd rule before. My friend had a smaller dolphin-shaped mosaic decoration that was also confiscated, while another mosaic lamp that was identical to mine was let through. (I'm glad hers wasn't confiscated, but this obviously shows blatant inconsistency.) There wasn't any weight limit for the carry-ons, and my carry-on suitcase was still overall very light because, other than these two souvenirs, it only held clothes. We were given the option to check-in the suitcase for $30. One friend rushed back to do this, only to find the airline had already closed check-in more than half an hour before boarding. We also tried to call the friend who had dropped us off at the airport to see if we could give her the souvenirs that would otherwise be confiscated, but the internet was down and we were unable to contact her. We realized that this process was taking way too much time, and we were risking being late for our flight. We had to take the loss and literally run to get on the plane. What we expected to be a smooth and routine pass through airport security resulted in the loss of over $50 worth of souvenirs pieces that we had picked out carefully and carried safely throughout our trip.
