Zenith Dijon is a modern live music venue with a cavernous space that can accommodate up to 9000 people. Since its opening in 2005, it has become a hub for various entertainment events including pop and rock concerts, stand-up comedy, musicals, shows, and conventions. A good concert hall in Dijon, France 🇫🇷 Many celebrities have performed here

Great zenith where you can see a large variety of performance. Convenient from the center of Dijon. You can access to it very easily. Last performance I saw was Botre Dame de Paris

Perfect for catching the tram to Dijon. Every time we have been there we have been the only persons to either embark or disembark the tram. Safe parking, but could maybe benefit from a shaded area to park the car.....

Small city hall with nice atmosphere.

What a great night watching One night of Queen. A great venue, easy to get to via the tram, which stops right outside. The staff show you to your seats,a nice touch from Zenith

Saw SANTA, great show, friendly staff
Bruce — Google review
The concert hall itself is of medium size and arc shaped. The view from where we were ie Row M was good, however he chairs are on the hard side and a bit cheap looking. What really disappointed was the fact that there were no eateries right next to the hall. Only a couple of bars inside the hall. No choice whatsoever. Best bet is to go to the Toison d'Or 1st and then go to the hall. A missed opportunity I feel for restaurant owners.

Art museum
Museums
The Museum of Fine Arts Dijon is located in the Palais Des Ducs et des Etats de Bourbogne, a complex of buildings with different architectural styles. It houses remarkable collections from the 14th to 19th century, including art from Antiquity to the 21st century, Middle Ages, and Renaissance.
Beautiful museum! Spacious with beautiful displays of paintings, sculptures, and archeological artifacts, located in the historical section of Dijon. I spent three hours here and did not see everything, of course time spent depends on your interest. The staff was very friendly, the cost was free! (Thank you!) Museum hours were wonderful, open until 6:30! Highly recommend!
Gaybrielle H — Google review
The rooms are beautiful. Lots of classic old works, a few modern works, so not very impressive for me. Admission is free, so it's worth seeing the architecture. Beware, there's a trap on the first floor, you'll never get out without asking... we weren't the only ones. Fortunately, the lovely security staff are there to help.
Thomas K — Google review
We were greeted by very friendly staff who explained the museum's layout. This museum is large, entry is free, and there are several floors of exhibits to see. The grounds around the museum are picturesque as well. Enjoy!
Simone A — Google review
A free art museum! It was a treat, of course. I'm not an expert, but I think their collection was very good, based mostly on the Duc's collection. Don't miss the Duc and Duchess's tombs! Everything was in french and it wasn't very crowded, even on a Saturday and even with people fleeing from the rain, like we were.
Erika H — Google review
The Best Things in Life Are Free Well, that’s certainly true for the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Dijon. I first discovered it a few years ago while tracking works by Vieira da Silva and Nicolas de Staël—and since then, it has become an almost obligatory stop on the way to or back from the South. Just three hours from Luxembourg, and each visit brings something new. This time, a megalomaniac Chinese painter exhibited right in front of the tombs of the Dukes of Burgundy—a juxtaposition as unexpected as it is striking. And if you’re traveling with children, don’t miss the fantastical animals of Pompon. A place where history, discovery, and wonder are all free of charge.
Emile S — Google review
Incredible museum. Very rich collection and well displayed and organised. Free to hold your bags in lockers and the staff are friendly and professional. Highly recommend visiting here!
Alex W — Google review
Dijon is a beautiful city and this museum has some beautiful art. Make sure you find the musical room from where you see the tombs from above!
Sophie C — Google review
The Dijon Museum of Fine Arts is well organised and an example of a must see museum outside of Paris, London, etc. There's everything from beautifully curated medieval art to sculpture to art and photography of the 1900s and 2000s. As a bonus, it's free to enter. Most definitely a not to be missed attraction in Dijon.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Nestled on the exterior of the stunning Eglise Notre-Dame in Dijon, the Owl of Dijon (La Chouette de Dijon) is a charming stone sculpture that has captured the hearts of locals and visitors alike. This small yet significant owl is not just an artistic feature; it’s believed to grant wishes when gently stroked, making it a must-visit for those seeking a bit of magic during their travels.
Cute little owl on the side of the cathedral. So many ppl touched it... you can't really see the owl anymore. Follow the golden plaque arrows around the city to find it
Taehee K — Google review
Cool and iconic in Dijon... easy to find. It's nice to find it without Google maps to make it for Cool... just follow the signs on the street floor.
Luis G — Google review
A modern old town, just follow the golden arrows for sightseeing. The shops are neat and orderly. I saw people slipping after the rain because the floor is slippery. It is recommended to wear shoes a good shoes. There is a restaurant that supports Down syndrome. I recommend you try it.
Jiraporn C — Google review
Palm-sized and polished by countless hands, the little owl carved into Notre-Dame’s wall turns a side lane into a ritual. Touch with your left hand and make a wish; the brass pavement plate with the owl logo marks the stop and small arrows carry you along Dijon’s Parcours de la Chouette. This is the route’s namesake and most photographed moment: modest stone, big civic idea. I like how the trail knits small details to major landmarks - marker, brief engagement, onward wayfinding - so one carving speaks to grander sites across the old town.
Loo Y — Google review
Super nice tour especially for kids which are keen on discovering the next owl of Dijon on the way. All nice attractions can be seen on this journey.
Steffen N — Google review
Great mid evil city with not a lot of tourists. Great wines from around the region, many fine restaurants and a truly great French market place
Rick R — Google review
I believe the route is great but we actually lost the route twice. Suddenly the Owl was lost. Please can the city check the route of the owl themselves? And see what is missing. Since I'm not the only one who get lost.

Market
The Halles centrales et marché central in Dijon is a vibrant hub of local culture and gastronomy, perfect for food lovers and those seeking authentic experiences. This beautifully restored market hall buzzes with activity, featuring an array of vendors offering everything from fresh produce to artisanal cheeses and exquisite wines. Open on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings, the market invites visitors to explore its diverse offerings while soaking up the lively atmosphere.
Visit this market to get a feel of how French take their food seriously. You can buy all the ingredients for your next banquet there, be it seasonal seafood, exotic cut of meat or poultry. The varieties of ingredients and quality are better than super markets. Some stalls also sell pate, paella that are ready to eat. As most markets in France you need to be there early to see it in full action.
Li L — Google review
A must for the gourmet. Great selection, not always the cheapest, but good quality goods of fish, meat, poultry, offal, cheese and so on and friendly, professional market vendors. Stay there and get some good wine to your purchase to enjoy right on site.
Thomas K — Google review
i love a market wherever i go. it’s not the cheapest in the area, but the produce, the fish, the cheeses, all are fresh, and the vendors are friendly and hardworking (i got up early and watched them set up their booths both inside and outside the market building) even just walking through made me feel alive and rich in life
Sam — Google review
The most amazing market either the best produce Dijon has to offer we were totally blown away with the variety of everything and anything to eat in Dijon at great prices. The pate, sliced meats, salads, breads and terrines to die for watch out though they’re not open every day
Henry H — Google review
Lots of fresh variety. However as a visitor several vendors tried to price gouge, not give back the correct change and pushing an over sale instead of what you asked for. If you are not a French speaker just pay attention and don't feel bad to be clear on what you want. Still worth a visit.
Norah K — Google review
Local market, lovely place to buy fresh vegetables, spices, cheese and meat of almost all kind
Raj T — Google review
A marvel, truly — vibrant, full of excellent vendors and high-quality produce. Still, I couldn’t shake the feeling of a market shifting from a place to shop and have a drink into something more ‘curated’ by the ‘experience economy.’ That said, it remains worth visiting — in my case, more than once.
Alejandro R — Google review
What a cool market. Inside was busy with activity but not overcrowded. It had lots of food vendors: fish, butcher, confections, fruits and veggies, jams, honey, breads... you understand. Outside was nice too. Around the market were vendors of all kinds of things: jewelry, pashminas, toys, purses, baskets, leather goods, clothing, olive wood items, gifts, etc. It doesn't take too long to walk around the outside and inside. It's worth a morning's exploration.

Grand Hôtel La Cloche Dijon - MGallery Collection

Hotel
Grand Hôtel La Cloche Dijon - MGallery is an elegant hotel housed in a historic Haussmann building. The hotel boasts a high-end restaurant, terrace, bar, and spa for guests to enjoy. Its prime location near Darcy Square makes it ideal for sightseeing and shopping in old Dijon. The contemporary design and comfort of the hotel's rooms and suites offer a luxurious stay with modern amenities.
From the moment we arrived, the service was excellent. We had an outstanding authentic French dinner there. The breakfast spread was extensive and fresh. Even though our room faced the town Square, it was quiet. The location was convenient to walk to many attractions. My only negative was no TV stations with English.
Andy B — Google review
Beautiful interiors. Close to train station and to historic area on Dijon which is lovely to walk around. Room is small but comfortable. Bathroom floor gets wet when taking a shower due to lack of curtain. Checkout was slow due to only one person working.
Chin-Chai L — Google review
Wonderful location and elegant resort like amenities in historic building. Garden patio bar/lounge as well as elegant indoor bar area with excellent service. Michelin star restaurant in hotel. Rooms nicely updated but very little drawer space. One piece of advice would be for those with even the most minor mobility or balance conerns. The baths in our rooms had only a steep sided tub with hand held shower wand, no door or curtain. This made climbing in/out somewhat precarious and showering often created wet floor. We had no issues but had to be extra cautious.

First time in Dijon and loved this upscale hotel with great location. Easy walk from the train station and makes for a great entrance to the lovely Dijon. Staff was great and loved the bar with very good ambience. Our room overlooked the Darcy and was well appointed with king bed--would choose this again

Another lovely stay at La Cloche. The location is perfect for exploring Dijon, and we appreciate the very attentive staff. Our only negative is that the breakfast seems very expensive. However, highly recommended as a great place to stay.

One the beautiful hotels I have been to. Rooms are spacious, clean. Separate toilet and shower/sink. Walk-in closet. A little unusual for the room to have shag carpet. Spa was included

This is one of our favorites Mc Gallery Hotels we have visited in France...it is a 5 stars Hotel that used to be a real 5 Stars Hotel...now it is a very good 4 stars Hotel. Service is still good but used to be amazing...they did not recognize at the beginning that we are Platinum All customers...and made us wait for 3 hours to get a room and gave us a regular room without any upgrade...if we did not complaint about it ....we could stay in the same small room they initially gave us ...This should not happen in a Hotel of this category...other than that, we found that things can be improved in the room and hallways maintenance...We hope we can come back soon and wish we can find this place as wonderful as it used to be
Carlos C — Google review
Our first trip to Dijon. Hotel is in a great location. Staff are very good, especially Isaac at the front desk manager! It’s a historic property so some of the rooms are quirky, and the hotel could benefit from new flooring. The bar is great. The garden is lovely. Fitness room is odd layout. Spa (€15 per person for an hour - book ahead because they limit to 6 ppl at a time) was pleasant tho small. Only 7 min walk from train station and steps from the historic center and park.

French restaurant
DZ’envies is a contemporary-style restaurant located in the heart of old Dijon, founded by renowned chef David Zuddas. The restaurant offers a fusion cuisine that combines the flavors of Burgundy with more exotic tastes, using fresh local produce as the centerpiece of its dishes. The ambiance shifts from a pleasant lunchtime canteen to an elegant bistro in the evening, providing a hip and modern dining experience.
Found this recommendation on Bib Gourmand and was very happy with the full experience. Young but well trained staff took care of the evening. The best part of the meal was the soft onsen style egg with girolles mushrooms. As a main I had the local trout with the skin crisped perfectly so that it complemented the lightly flavored and nicely cooked fish. The accompanying vegetables were nice, but I thought could be more elevated. They were quite basic sautéed mixed vegetables. Dessert of tarte aux figues and chocolate quenelle was a closing star.
SMS — Google review
Very pleasant and attentive service. Food wonderfully presented. Reasonable prices. However, the portions were a joke. For 16 euros, I only got 2 Pieces of asparagus as an appetizer. The lamb was just okay, not much flavor, and again a small portion. I’m going to change my tune for the dessert: it was absolutely brilliant!! Maybe the best dessert I’ve ever had. And it was plentiful… The wine was excellent.”
Tony A — Google review
Settled into a Scandi-calm dining room, we found warm oak floors, a long banquette and low pendant lights, keeping the space calm. We began with savoury madeleines and a bubbling terracotta of escargots à la bourguignonne - well cooked and lighter on garlic (8/10). A fist-sized andouillette arrived glossy and pungent; with caramelised onion, sauces and crisp frites it scored 7.5/10. The gigotin - a boned roulade in an Aligoté-and-cream sauce with sautéed wild mushrooms - was timed impeccably, full of terroir (9.5/10). Dessert ‘Dijonnaise’ - gingerbread soaked in crème de cassis, blackcurrant sorbet and chantilly - was theatrical and balanced (9/10). Service straightforward; a market-facing bistrogastro that honours Burgundian produce. Well.
Loo Y — Google review
Great food, kind service but perhaps a little understaffed? The portions are generous, as was the truffle on the main course. Definitely worth its money. I believe we were slightly unlucky with the bread; where ours was cold and slightly stale, the people next to us and behind us received hot and fresh bread just minutes after us.
N. L — Google review
The good: excellent service, nice ambience. We had an amazing beef bourgignonne, excellent gratin and sides as well as tasty oeufs en Mariette and lovely wine. Only negatives: the lamb stew was not very tender and a bit bland.
Vincenzo C — Google review
We were looking forward to a lovely evening at DZ’envies, especially since the restaurant is listed in the Michelin guide. Unfortunately, the overall experience fell far short of expectations. • Wine service: The white wine was served too warm, and throughout the entire evening, no one came by to top up our glasses. We had to refill our own drinks – absolutely disappointing for a restaurant of this category. • Service at the table: While someone came by during the starter to ask if everything was fine, no one checked in during the main course. My filet mignon was cooked “well done” instead of “medium.” In such a situation, I would have expected the chef to come out personally, apologize immediately, and not for the staff to casually ask afterward if I would like a coffee or digestif – once the damage had already been done. • Overall experience: A restaurant listed in the Michelin guide should not only impress with its food but also with the entire service experience, the attentiveness of the staff, and the way mistakes are handled. • Hospitality: If dogs are welcome, the very least would be to offer a bowl of water – to show that all guests are truly made to feel comfortable. Overall, the evening was not what one would expect from a restaurant of this category. There is significant room for improvement in terms of service quality and professionalism.
Mar K — Google review
I visited with my boyfriend a few weeks ago and we truly had an an amazing experience! The food was very very good with fresh and super flavourful dishes that featured local cusine but with a twist. The skill and passion of the kitchen were evident in every dish and Chef Philippe was even so kind to answer our questions about the preparation and ingredients. When I mentioned to the staff that I could not eat the desert featured in the menu due to an allergy, they let me choose an alternative dessert from the menu. Generally the service was super accomodating and made us feel very welcomed. DZ envies offers amazing hospitality, outstanding food at a super fair pricing. We'll definitely be returning when in Dijon again!

Brasserie
Brasserie Des Beaux-Arts is located in a charming old pedestrianized city center with half-timbered buildings, a UNESCO world heritage site. Visitors can explore the Saint-Benigne Cathedral, Eglise Notre-Dame, and several museums including the Musee des Beaux-Arts. The Palais des Ducs and its neighboring tower offer stunning panoramic views of the city. The brasserie itself is situated in a historic palace and offers a cultural and gastronomic experience.
Great highly recommend it, we passed by Dijon seeking also a good but not Michelin star level cuisine. We found it here a good mix of the historical setting and architecture with a modern interior design. We made a last minute reservation on the same day the staff was friendly and helpful. The lunch time was fully packed nevertheless we were well served. The entrée was creative and delicious the main solid burgundy cuisine with an innovative touch. The dessert was as well not bad at all. Would go here again.
Diego G — Google review
After visiting the museum we decided to have lunch here not just for convenience, but also because it looked very pleasant inside. We had the formule dejeuner, and chose to have all three courses. The restaurant was almost full but not at all loud. There was a restrained conviviality as one would expect among museum goers of a certain age, us included. Service was pleasant, and apologetic when explaining the lobster item was no longer available as an option for the first course. Second course was shredded roast pork with a faintly five-spice flavor accompanied by almost puréed eggplant, garnished with toasted hazelnuts. Both dishes had a sweet flavor, which became redundant and tiresome after a while. The kitchen should employ acidity for balance. The third course, while not anticipated with any great pleasure, turned out to be the highlight. Carpaccio of pineapple was tender slices of quite ripe fruit, enhanced by a small scoop of smooth, licorice ice cream, and crumbles of quite sweet praline biscuit of some kind. Overall, I would recommend for a lovely setting, good value and some interesting food even if the main dish was a bit of a bore.
P W — Google review
Great food, good service, excellent outdoor seating - we prefer sitting outside in the front, near the shady park.
Tracy B — Google review
I wanted to have lunch here but was sent away in a very rude and agressive way by a young waiter. He said the restaurant was "full" when clearly there were at least 5-6 tables free outside. I'm not sure what I did wrong. Just after I was sent away a couple of people entered and were assigned a table no problem. I was offended by this unprofessional behaviour and cannot recommend this brasserie based on this experience.
Michael P — Google review
Very nice food, not cheap but well prepared. However, get ready for service so fast and barely focused on the customer, you might feel you’re in a fast-food restaurant. It’s a shame, because the prices are pretty high, so normally you’d expect better
Matthew D — Google review
Average café, but exceptionally well located near the Fine Arts Museum of Dijon. We only had some drinks, but the place was packed with annoying bees. Prices above average, decent service.
Bogdan T — Google review
If you want to experience the worst of the French hospitality, this the place to go. Short blond waiter kicked us off our table as soon as we for there and proceeded to be extremely disrespectful. The location is beautiful but the service makes it horrible. To be avoided at all cost.

This French brasserie is popular for its dark-red velvet couches and matt gold interior. The wine list is extensive, and the cocktail called Kir Royal is popular in Burgundy. The food was delicious and the waitstaff friendly.
What a find. After much research we decided to dine ar Speakeasy for dinner. The fitout of the restaurant is spectacular. Beautiful, inviting and warm. The beverages and cuisine didn't disappoint. Beef bougingnon and creamy chicken was hearty and full of flavour. We will be back!

The food was good but there was a little cockroach on the table and so they moved my seat. But but after I finish the main course, I was waiting for the dessert and I’m waiting for like 20 minutes and there were no sign until I asked they were like oh I forget it’s on its way and then they give me a dessert that I didn’t order. I didn’t know formage blanc was yogurt! I’d say if you don’t mind that would happen you can go there and eat. They have a great beef. Although when I say that the cashier wasn’t listening.

Great food and service! Everything was fully booked nearby so we tried this restaurant and the staff were very accommodating, especially the hostess. They made sure to place our big group in one table. Aside from that, food was amazing! The scallop and truffle risotto, foie gras, and beef bourguignon is a must try ❤️

We stumbled on this restaurant while looking for a place to dine and were quite pleased with it. It was fairly busy and we dined outside ordering a set meal where one could select the starters and mains from amongst 4 options and a dessert out of 3. I enjoyed the chicken liver, the beef and the Burgundy cake paired with a nice . Beaujolais. The service was friendly and the atmosphere quite lively.

The traditional regional dishes I had were excellent. The poached eggs in rich red wine soup and the chicken Gaston. Both really tasty and the sauces on each were amazing.

The veal liver I had in a rainy afternoon is very unforgettable. Was very quiet even sit next to pedestrian. Felt as if I was sitting in the woods and was enjoying some very fresh food. The liver was cooked with some sweet sauce, contrasting and enhancing the savoury of the liver itself and the savoury of beer 🍺. Risottos and beef steak were nice too.

Our best dining experience in France. Beautiful atmosphere, amazing food, and tremendous cocktails. Our server was very kind and generous. If you love great food & drink check this place out.
Jared P — Google review
Awful awful! I saw reviews saying the place got better since previous bad reviews. And most of the bad reviews were about service, not food. Both were absolutely terrible. But it wasn't the servers' fault! The business is greedy. They're trying to make as much money as they can in a short time. Not enough staff, too many seats. I waited 35 minutes to order. When I ordered it took over an hour to get my steak which had bones in it and was clearly sitting for at least 30 minutes. There was a burnt bug on my potato wedges! The cocktails are great but that's it. The business has so much potential, it's sad. It's a beautiful looking place. While I was there, almost everyone around me complained. The staff were so overworked. I felt really bad for them. One staff member had her child with her. She looked like she was going to cry from stress. She was wearing a hat. She should get a raise. She was great but she was trying to manage 50 tables at a time. It's impossible to make people happy that way! This place will go under I'm the coming years and will be replaced if they keep this up. I had to spit out my cold steak several times due to bones and pieces of what looked like plastic. One man near me complained about waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes for his food. They brought it right away, but cold. Another couple got very angry due to waiting 45 minutes for their food only to be told THEN that they were out of the food they ordered. The unprofressionalism is crazy. Again, the waitresses and the cocktail bartender were great, but they're dealing with a really badly planned business. I blame the boss and manager. It comes down to them. Such a shame. It could be the best place in town but instead it's over crowded, inefficient and money hungry.

Wine bar
Dr. Wine is a popular spot that began as a wine bar and has since evolved into a full restaurant offering contemporary and local classic dishes. The interior boasts an industrial-chic decor, while the walled patio at the back provides a serene dining experience. In addition to its extensive wine selection, Dr. Wine also serves delicious platters of ham and cheese, making it a hybrid shop, restaurant, and wine club.
Nice and chill gastro wine bar! Smaller size of various classic dishes (you can easily have 3-4 per person), nice wine selection, both Burgundian and international. I’d come back.

I was hesitant to eat at a restaurant called Dr. Wine, but it turned out to be a lovely experience. Their small plate concept is a great way to try things. We ordered a la carte rather than the fixed menu. The beef bourguignon was excellent. Prices were reasonable, service was very good, we ate outside in the garden. And, yes, the wine was good too!!
Lee R — Google review
Great concept of small dishes matched with wine. We wanted to share our dishes. We asked 2 waitstaff for sharing plates which took 10 minutes to appear, one was dirty. Another few minutes for a clean plate. In the meantime our food went cold. Service was hit and miss. Snails - cold, tuna tataki- too thick, beef tartare - nice, duck - best dish. It's worth a try, hopefully just an off night.

Category: Wine Bar. We’ve never been BOB (Big on Burgundy), but could become BOBs after visiting this great wine bar. The atmosphere is cool and polished, with hints of the Old-World. We sat downstairs but ventured upstairs for a peek at the impressive wine wall and wine-dominant dining room (I know what you’re thinking: what the heck does that mean? For the answer, see the photos). There’s also a big outdoor patio with heaters and what appears to be a retractable awning. But alas, it was retracted when we visited and therefore unusable because of the rain. There were also several sidewalk tables outside the front door but they were unused for the same rainy reason. This establishment serves both wine and food, but if you go only for wine, as we did, you can sit at the bar and consume nothing but vin rouge (or blanc if you so choose), to your heart’s content. The wine list is quite extensive (there are wine bottles everywhere, in every nook and cranny) and many wines are offered by the glass, which is what we were hunting. We ordered four burgundies by the glass, two for each of us, and cross-pollinated, so we were each able to drink about a half glass of four local wines. They were all exactly as the Doctor (Wine) ordered. The physician’s assistants were all hyper friendly and made Herculean efforts to understand our terrible French and only slightly better English. If you are interested in food too, there is a small but we’ll-curated menu of shareables (6p to 8:30p only), entrees, mains, and desserts. We loved this place. YouTube’s Chef’s Apprentice

This was the worst restaurant experience we’ve ever had. The food was awful — cold, sticky tagliatelle and a meat patty instead of the steak we ordered for our child. Unsurprisingly, the child refused to eat it. The duck with fried potatoes came with burnt potatoes (photo attached). The wine service was even worse. We ordered a Montrachet, visit card of Burgundy, one of their most expensive wines, but it was poured into a tiny white wine glass. When I asked for a proper Burgundy glass, I was told they didn’t have one, and the staff implied I didn’t know how wine should be served. Later, they even poured Pinot Noir into the same small glass that had been used for another wine and reacted rudely when we asked for a clean one. We spent a lot of money and left completely disappointed. Food, service, and respect for the product are shockingly bad here. Definitely not recommended.

Recommend this restaurant when dining in Dijon. Well priced and well executed. We ordered the ‘red’ degustation where we paired the meals with regional red wine. Nice atmosphere and service too.
Danielle W — Google review
Great place to visit. They have many interesting and very nice wine by glass option. Some wines are their own labels too! The sommelier are very professional and know how to pair food with wines and wine orders so it makes your night interesting. Food is good and they come in small portions. Might need to order quite a lot to be full.

Day 2

Off the beaten path
For day 2, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Colombière Park. Not quite as popular as Entrée du Musée des Beaux-Arts, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Colombière Park is a vast historical site with stunning French-style gardens and tree-lined walkways, where visitors can also explore the remains of ancient Roman roads. It's an ideal spot for relaxation, especially for families with kids who will appreciate its small zoo, playgrounds, rope climbs, and tree fort. However, visitors are advised to check the opening hours as they may vary.
Excellent park, love it. Trees, interesting layout, room to walk and sit as well.

Went for a small picnic for lunch while on a roadtrip through France, bought some local Charcuterie and enjoyed Parc Colombière. The Parks in France are amazing! Unfortunately the toilets are really off-putting, hence one star being deducted...should take more off but the green spaces in the city more than makes up for it

The Museum of Burgundian Life, located in Dijon, is a unique attraction housed in an old monastery dating back to the late 18th century. It offers a fascinating recounting of regional history and domestic life through a collection of costumes, artifacts, fine art, and sculptures. Visitors can explore recreations of shops from an earlier era such as hatmakers and butchers.
Quite nice musee, the tickets are free. The fiest floor it’s about old ways to make butter, cheese, warming house and other stuff. The second floor it’s more interesting, you can see old stores, replica, about furs, pharmacy, biscuits (intersitng) and others. I

This is a very worthwhile place to visit when you are in Dijon. Great exhibits, free to enter, street parking. Restrooms. Authentic period items and recreations of 19th c shops, plus lots of other things that take you back to earlier times in the area. Have Fun!

A wonderful museum dedicated to the history of the region, absolutely worth a visit at least for seeing the old shop windows and advertisement posters of the past. Very friendly and proactive staff. Not many translations to English throughout the exhibitions, though.

If you visit 1 museum in Dijon, let it be this one! You will learn about the life of olden-day Burgundians through visually engaging ways. A lot of thought and care has been put into the curation of this museum and I enjoyed myself completely. It is also suitable for children.

A fantastic museum of the history of the city of Dijon, a wonderful collection of memorabilia, period costumes, home life displays, posters, furniture, tools, kitchen equipment, trains, photography and the history of local biscuit and sweets making.. this is a terrific gallery, rich with the small things that shaped the culture, personality, people and vibe of this great city.. A great exhibition, a memorable experience. Please make time for this visit. 1 hour. Entree is free.

Excellent museum in Dijon. You need around 1h to quickly see all the exhibits. The exhibits are really beautiful and the highlight is the re-enactment of old stores of the city with authentic design and materials We were disappointed by the lack of English descriptions for the exhibits. We visited over a weekday and it was not so crowded. Short walk from the city center.

Cultural center

Wine cellar
The Cité Internationale de la Gastronomie et du Vin is a new and impressive attraction that offers an in-depth exploration of French cuisine and wine. This 15-acre, interactive space features various exhibitions dedicated to pastry, including a unique display showcasing the science behind baking. Visitors can also explore a photography exhibition highlighting the foods served during significant political meals, as well as a transformed church that now serves as a temple of wine, offering insights into Burgundy's renowned vintages.
A great venue with a variety of eateries, specialty shops, a cinema, and a wine bar. It feels fresh and modern, having opened just two years ago. Our group enjoyed a nice lunch before exploring the wine cellar. The venue also has five exhibitions, three of which are paid and focus on French gastronomy, while two are free. Since it was raining outside, we decided to check out the paid exhibitions, and we really enjoyed them. They are quite interactive, with monitors you can click through and play with—very engaging! Overall, it was a pleasant experience, though it might be best suited for groups or locals living nearby. Personally, I prefer dining in a small, local restaurant in the heart of the town, where you can soak up the lively atmosphere as people stroll through the pedestrian streets. This venue felt more like eating in a small shopping center, but the products were definitely of good quality.
Nadia R — Google review
It is not far from train station. According to Google Map it opens at 9:30, but it does not mean whole venue opens… Most of the shops opens at 10:30-11:00 and eateries probably 11:30 or later (we left after 11:00). So if you plan to eat and shop there, I recommend go there not too early. In any cases, I found it is not much worth to visit. Most of the well-known shops, such as Multi & Petitjean or Maille, are also in the middle of Dijon. As a market, the traditional one (Marché Central) is far more interesting and lively. It is all well and beautifully constructed (there’s even cute chapel inside of the venue), but walking in the middle of Dijon is exciting and you may be able to discover tiny, pretty, real French shops, cafes, bistros and restaurants unless you have just a couple of hours in Dijon.
Nori I — Google review
Very enjoyable visit and worth a stop if you have some time to kill in Dijon. They had an interactive “5 senses” exhibit that our young children enjoyed and we adults enjoyed the gastronomic section. Oh and of course the wine cave where you can taste hundreds of wine by the glass :) The cheese shop is also excellent.
Ryan B — Google review
Category: Attraction. The name says it all. Just outside the old-town area, on the other side of the train tracks, sits a huge complex of food-and-cooking-related shops, a movie theatre, restaurants, school of Burgundy wines, cultural and educational attractions, and exhibitions (such as “The Little Theatre of Fine Food and Drink”). There’s quite a lot of the latter, and you could spend an entire afternoon here (maybe most of a day). Admission is free. Walk into the main building, which houses the cultural and educational stuff. Enjoy whatever attracts you. Then pass out the other side into the “Gastronomic Village”, which is an open air collection of shops and restaurants. We strolled the shops (cheese, cookbooks (mostly in French), kitchen wares, dining wares), enjoyed freshly baked mini baguettes 🥖 with ham, cheese, butter, and cornichons from the Boulangerie, then tasted wine at the La Cave de la Cite wine tasting room (see my separate review). It was raining when we visited, so we could not fully experience all of the outdoor seating. But this is a great place for gastronomes and oenophiles. YouTube’s Chef’s Apprentice

Nice venue with different eateries, shops specialized in a specific product, a cinema and wine bar. Very fresh & new since it opened only 2 years ago. Our group had a nice lunch and then visited the wine cave. Overall it was a nice experience, but maybe it's best suited for a group or locals living nearby. My personal preference would be to eat in small local restaurant in the heart of the town center where the locals are strolling by on the pedestrian streets, etc to feel the life of the town. This place felt more like eating in a small shopping center, but the products were nice.
Tami C — Google review
Very interesting concept of gastronomical corner in town- butchery, fish monger, bakery, bars. And Burgundy has things to show and to share- superb wines, great food. Strangely it is quite empty, even a bit desolated, however, I would recommend to pass by if you are in Dijon. Check the chapel which is free and houses the museum of the famous climats.
Darius S — Google review
Great experience for any taste: art, gastronomy, culture, shopping, wine. Just let time stop there and explore 😍
Julia A — Google review
Amazing wine tasting cellar, with such an easy an convenient way to try multiple wines from not just Bourgogne, but also Spanish wines, Italian, and even some Southern American countries like Argentina. The Gastronomic museum itself is a bit underwhelming in terms of covering the basics of the gastronomic industry, but still worth a look around if in Dijon

Chick d'Or is a culinary gem that has garnered mixed reviews from its patrons. While some diners have expressed disappointment over the preparation of certain dishes, particularly the wings and tenders being overcooked or dry, others rave about their delightful experiences. Many guests highlight the spicy wings as a standout item, praising their flavor and recommending them alongside the popular maxi wrap. The welcoming staff adds to the overall positive atmosphere, making it a place worth visiting for those seeking tasty food at reasonable prices.

I wouldn’t say the best place but I won’t say a bad place too! We ordered rice box spicy fried chicken and a krusty chicken burger! To be honest the spicy fried chicken was the bestest!!! It had the right amount of flavour and I could go back for that. The rice box with mix chicken was so so! Not something that everyone will enjoy! I liked but wouldn’t go again and again for it. Then the burger was bland. It wasn’t the the thing which I had in my mind. It was just so so! Ahhh! Overall an okayish experience. Will go back for the spicy chicken only!!!!

We walked by this small bistro with no menu courses. We had five course menu with wine pairing, all very delicious. What a lovely place!
Jen-Fan H — Google review
Up and coming restaurant with some extraordinary well made dishes and some quiet dissappointing. Had a 5 menu dinner course here, with blind menu which at the end of the day was very similar to the lunch menu that was not blind. Main dishes were great, tuna and pork were well prepped and sides were paired excellently. But the entre of pouched egg with green beans was quiet tasteless. The dessert was overall basic with peaches that tasted canned. Best of luck onwards, there is definitely a potential here but still room for improvement!

Expect the unexpected. Voilà the concept de ce petit restaurant extraordinaire au centre de Dijon. This culinary experience offers a single set "mystery" menu comprised of several courses at dinner. Our menu was composed of 5 dishes, each dish was equally impressive. The owner / host is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about food and spirits. This is demonstrated in his extensive wine list and curation of dishes! Wine lovers will appreciate its cellar with a large selection from here and elsewhere. Finally, I salute the chef for his skillful and tasteful preparations! Oh, and don’t forget to book, seats are limited - he only has a few tables.

What a gem in Dijon. I was traveling for business and was trying to find a good restaurant that was open on a Monday evening and wow did Parapluie exceed expectations. I know the reviews are overwhelmingly positive but let me add my kudos as well! The food was outstanding as were all the wine pairings with my 5 course meal. They were able to seamlessly work around my shellfish allergy and it was not a problem that I speak English. Would 100% go back again next time in Dijon.

Fine dining restaurant
Nestled beneath the historic Place Bossuet in central Dijon, La Dame d'Aquitaine offers a unique dining experience within the enchanting 13th-century crypt of the former Saint-Jean abbey. To reach this culinary gem, guests traverse through a stunning 17th-century mansion before descending into an atmospheric space adorned with Gothic ribbed vaults and pointed arches.
Setting is a 12th century wine cellar. Ambience is cozy but well lit. For a business dinner it was perfect. There’s a seating fee per person, but the wines and the food are reasonably priced.

Really, really good quality food and exceptional service. Certainly is the level of a 1 star restaurant but in a nicely relaxed and welcoming environment. Note the €31 cover charge per person, as the food prices are (relatively for this level of cooking) ridiculously cheap. Thoroughly recommended.

Not great. The quality of the food was sub-par. The monkfish was allright but the vegetables tasted like they could have been cooked five times. Quality of the foie gras not great. The smoked lamb starter was ok. The Borgougne beef was too dry. Rabbit ok but also dry. The chocolate dessert was good, the creme brulee boring. Our main waiter was good but had too many tables and the other two did not help out much. The manager pretty much stared at the computer screen all night and did not help out even though it was necessary. The decor of the place really needs an upgrade. Could have been an unlucky visit, but we would not come back to this place. Bill ended up at 170 euro for three people (2 adults) which it is not at all worth. We let the staff know, but they did not do anything else byr make an apology. Even added 10% service charge automatic when they knew we where really unhappy.

Le Coin Repas is a charming and bustling eatery where locals and workers gather daily. The friendly and energetic hostess warmly engages with everyone, creating a welcoming and homely atmosphere. Despite its small size, the restaurant comes highly recommended for its delightful ambiance and delectable dishes such as the delectable frogs' legs.

A let down unfortunately. The food wasn’t good and the steaks were all really tough. The waitress offered to get a new steak for the children at the end but by that point we just wanted to have a dessert and finish the meal. About €100 for an adult and two children for not much food. No garnish at all on the plates. My glass of wine was nice, I was enjoying the music and the lady seemed like a good character. I do hate leaving bad reviews but I thought that it wasn’t ok especially for the price. Hopefully it was just our bad luck as the place had kind of an eccentric and fun atmosphere.

We chose this restaurant due to the online recommendations and were grossly disappointed. The food was alright but our two different choices of frogs legs we ordered were almost the same. Our main disappointment was the decor and service. Personally I felt highly uncomfortable having a server serving food whilst on the phone and then eating inthe restaurant. We felt as though we were intruding in someone's own dining room /study. To summarise the food was mediocre for the price but the professionalism we expect from any dining experience was very low.

Darcy Garden is a historic and picturesque public park located in the heart of Dijon, France. Built on a reservoir, this 19th-century neo-Renaissance garden offers visitors a tranquil oasis with its lush greenery, seasonal flowers, and beautiful fountain cascading into an oval basin. The park features the famous Polar Bear in its Stride sculpture by local artist Francois Pompon, as well as other sculptures and numerous benches for relaxation.
Fun little park. There was an ice cream and drink stand with a small merry-go-round. Small playground and a few historical buildings and a fountain. Nice to just sit and relax and talk for a few minutes while the kids ran around.

Looks nice and welcoming. Though a little work needs to be done to make it more modern and relaxing.

Visited D’Arcy Garden in Dijon and found it much more crowded than expected, which made it hard to fully enjoy. I can imagine it’s quite charming when quiet, but it’s also smaller than it appears in photos or other reviews. If you’re spending a day exploring Dijon, I wouldn’t say it’s worth going out of your way to visit, unless you’re specifically looking for a spot to sit down or have a picnic in the middle of the city. Otherwise, there are more interesting stops to prioritize.

Nice park close to the city center of Dijon. A place with enough areas to sit and relax the nature, sound of water from the water fall in the middle od the park. During hot summer days there is enough shadow to enjoy and relax. The park is at the beginning of the shopping area with Porte Guillaume.

Maille Dijon mustard

4.3

Gourmet grocery store
Maille Dijon mustard is a beloved condiment in France, but there has been a shortage of it recently, leading to creative solutions like smuggling bottles back into the country. The brand offers limited-edition mustards, including a Scotch whisky-spiked variety that pairs well with game. In addition to its popularity as a condiment, Maille also operates boutique stores in locations like Place de la Madeleine and New York City.
Had a nice time visiting this historical and original mustard store. Samplings are available. The sales lady was trying her best to promote everything 😉 make sure you know what you want!

Super helpful & friendly staff! A sweet lady helped us out with a personalized jar of mustard. She really took her time with us and made sure the experience was perfect, thank you! 🫶🏻
Laurence V — Google review
Maille in Dijon is a lesson in how condiment-making became courtly. The shop’s walnut counters and brass taps feel like theatre - you taste as you learn. Founded in 1747 by Antoine-Claude Maille, the house soon supplied Louis XV, turning mustard from local craft into Parisian fashion. Bottles trace a clear lineage - brown-seed Dijon, wine or spirit vinegar, stone-ground texture. A tasting made differences obvious: Burgundy Chardonnay - wine-forward and bright; à l’ancienne with Chardonnay - textured and seed-forward; white-wine mustard - cleaner, sharper. Truffle variants add theatre - black for punch, white for silkier depth. Staff were gracious and unfussy; presentation makes it easy to choose a gift

Category: Retail Shop. When I eat a hot dog 🌭 (yes, I like hot dogs), I have a little hot dog with my mustard, not vice versa. I tell the hot dog guy to “give me extra mustard; and if you think you have added too much, add more). I. LOVE. MUSTARD. So I was very happy when we finally arrived in Dijon (the mustard capital of the world 🌎) after touring France for 10 days. In Dijon, mustard is an art form. Art merits being appreciated in a gallery. The Moutarde Maille shop is a gallery of mustard. Parked outside was a bicycle-driven mustard cart. Mustard crocks hung in the window. Beautiful wooden cabinetry displayed many mustard flavors, many of which were available for tasting but are not sold in the U.S. Most impressive was that the shop had a mustard bar with six mustards on tap for sampling. On tap! I was in heaven. They were all excellent. My faves were the black truffle mustard and the Burgundy Chardonnay. The former was very truffley (more so than the white truffle variety) and the latter was very strong. The shop also offered customizable mustard crocks, made while you wait. It was a nice experience to visit Maille's own shop in Dijon and have the opportunity to try so many variants of their traditional Moutarde de Dijon. Some of the recipes are incredible. They also offer a lot of merchandise from the brand, and if you have no budget restrictions lol.. that's a playground. This is the only "downside".. some itens are quite expensive (I understand that), and especially the recipes that you need to buy a reusable pot to refill (what is a nice idea) are really pricey. Anyway a must go when in Dijon for sure
Douglas C — Google review
Great place to taste mustard and to buy very nice souvenirs. I highly recommended! Very friendly customer service !
Mili M — Google review
How can you turn mustard into an entire region? Visit the famous Maille mustard shop and you’ll understand. It’s a celebration of flavour, craft, and pure French imagination. They even have handmade clay pots for the mustard that can be engraved with your name — delightful madness in the best possible way. A fantastic experience from start to finish, and I left happily stocked with far too many Maille treasures!
Boris B — Google review
We had a wonderful time visiting the Maille shop in Dijon. The tasting experience, especially trying mustard on tap, was a highlight of our trip, and we purchased a medium whole-grain mustard with the cork top. The sales associate was friendly and packed it carefully after we mentioned we still had two weeks of travel ahead before returning to the US. Unfortunately, about a week later we discovered mold on the cork where the mustard had leaked. We reached out to the store for help but weren’t able to get clear guidance or a resolution. While the in-store experience was excellent, the follow-up customer service was disappointing. Because of this, I would be cautious about purchasing products with cork tops if you plan to travel with them.

Galeries Lafayette in Dijon offers a delightful shopping experience, from the grand department store to charming individual boutiques. The mall is divided into three main sections: the Galleria for women, the Galleria for men, and a building dedicated to food and gourmet cooking. Each section has its own unique charm, with the food building also hosting a market on its lowest floor. Visitors shouldn't miss the stunning old stained glass dome at the center of the store or the vintage elevators.
Romain and two of his coworkers in the furniture department did a great job assisting us when we purchased a lot of furniture on 20 July to fill out an apartment we had just leased in Dijon. We will be glad to work with any of them on future furnishing purchases.

I love how the have all type of clothing for all seasons every time. In case you are travelling and need swimsuits in the middle of winter then here they have it and of course winter stuff is there too. Or whatever season it might be

Such a large and beautiful department store and they don't have a bathroom for customers. I have chosen 3 items, then my large coffee I had in the morning wanted to leave my body. I asked for a restroom but surprisingly they told me they haven't one. So I left the building and went to my hotel a few blocks away. After that I wasn't in the mood to go back again, because it was super hot. Bad luck for Galeries Lafayette, because they lost a revenue of 280 Euro. IMHO every store this size should have a restroom for customers.

Smaller version and a little bit more compact as a department store, but nonetheless stocks the big brand names, and more. Modern looking, not a lot of grandeur that is synonymous with thus brand. But no toilets for the public, 5 floors of shopping area with hundreds of people and no toilet facilities!!! Not happy. Where do the staff go?

By far one of the most beautiful malls in the world. It has three main parts. The main Galleria which is mostly for women. It is the building on the right when you look at the map. The Galleria for men. The building on the left. And for food and gourmet cooking the building below the men's building. Each mazing and special in their own right. The food building also has a market on the lowest floor that has some rare finds for food.

Mili M — Google review
Cathédrale Saint-Bénigne tells two stories at once: the high, patterned roofs and spire that mark Dijon’s skyline, and the older circle below where the city keeps its first memory of the place. Beneath the Gothic shell lies the year-1000 rotunda’s crypt, reopened in 2024 after years of careful work, which makes the building read from bottom up: early medieval martyrium, 13th- to 14th-century church, modern city around it. In 1792 the abbey church became the cathedral as Revolutionary reforms remapped the Church. The Third Republic set today’s silhouette in 1896 with a 93-metre spire; the Separation crisis reached the doors in 1906 with the inventory of church goods. At Liberation in September 1944 a memorial Mass filled the nave. In December 1951 an effigy of Father Christmas was hanged and burned on the forecourt, sparking a national argument that Claude Lévi-Strauss later anatomised. Raised to a metropolitan archdiocese in 2002, Saint-Bénigne continues to host that double life: shrine and landmark, ritual and civic stage, where France’s debates about belief, state and heritage have repeatedly come to ground.
Loo Y — Google review
Beautiful Church with high ceilings. Its excellent features are the presence of highly artistic statues, which many museums of the world could envy. The cathedral left a good impression, a bright tall building with huge windows. Separately, it should be said about the church organ, if you say that it is beautiful, it's nothing to say! And how does it sound!

The William Gate is a monumental gateway from the 1700s that features stone arches with allegorical relief sculptures. It is located in the center of Dijon's main shopping district, Parc Darcy, and can be seen from all sides of the square. The gate is a popular photo spot for locals and tourists alike, and is one of the city's most visited landmarks.
At the city's entrance, a magnificent 18th-century stone archway adorned with allegorical sculptures welcomes visitors. This monumental gate provides a stunning panorama of Dijon, showcasing its meticulously planned, clean, and orderly urban landscape. It's a must-see for anyone exploring the city.
Kenneth A — Google review
Step under Porte Guillaume and you are on Rue de la Liberté, the main pedestrian spine to Place de la Libération. Locals treat the arch as the city-centre threshold and an easy meet-up point; visitor guides fold it into everyday wayfinding with tram Darcy as the stop name. The Parcours de la Chouette walking trail sends you from the square under the arch and down the street, so foot traffic resolves around this single span. A small plaque to Thomas Jefferson adds a note of long-distance friendship, now part of the storytelling used on tours. In practice the monument is less a relic than a working sign - a nexus between plaza and promenade, commerce and heritage - and a reliable compass for first-time walkers
Loo Y — Google review

One of those places you look online and it looks OK but actually the food is much better. Simple cooking done well. We had the play du jour (sausage) and a steak which were both excellent followed by the most delicious and decadent profiterole with caramel.

George N — Google review
A classic French brasserie setup: a sheltered pavement terrace under dark canopies, rows of woven bistro chairs, and a freestanding menu easel inviting passers-by. String lights and glass wind-screens create a semi-enclosed room that feels both neighbourly and cosmopolitan, equally suited to lingering lunches or a quick apéritif. I ordered Dijon’s little apéritif: the kir. Burgundy has long produced crème de cassis (pioneered by houses like Lejay-Lagoute) and Aligoté, a crisp white whose acidity lets the cassis shine. Canon Kir popularised the pairing after the war, and it became a regional emblem of hospitality. Simple, local, perfectly balanced — and still the best way to begin an evening in Dijon.

Food was ok the French fries was old and so oily does not fit with French cuisine (can see from the photoes) Dessert was so good Service was bad The women who work in service don’t speak good English. When they are not sure that they understand correctly unfortunately they assume by themselves and brought the food we did not order.

The boeuf bourguignon was tasty but the meat wasn't very tender. The entrecôte was very tough to chew which isn't acceptable for the price. The personnel were friendly and the place itself is central and nice.
Cat G — Google review
Ambiance (indoors) and service were very good. It was easy to talk to one another and the staff was attentive. However, the chef needs to be replaced. I had the boeuf bourguignon and my wife had the risotto. Our three kids had the kids 3 course meny. Everything was cold. The boeuf bourguignon was tasteless. The sauce seemed to be mixed with way too much flour. The risotto is nothing to write home about either. I had fries with the boeuf bourguignon and the kids had them too. They were the saddest fries I eaten. They had no crisp whatsoever. Please travel a little further to get a better meal. Try visiting the square in front of the “Palais des Ducs et des États de Bourgogne”. There you will find many options that are better than Au grand cafe.

We loved our one-night stay. This is an amazing small boutique hotel with five-star reception, especially Marguerite! I stayed for 1 night with my family on our way to French Alps. We booked 2 rooms: Junior Suite and a Privilege room. We are a large family with 4 kids. We ended up paying EUR 600 for 2 rooms! This is excluding breakfast!!! The Junior Suite had a small foldable sofa, which once unfolded blocks the way to the toilet. Both rooms were quite small. We had our rooms on the 3rd floor. You had to take a lift to 2nd floor first, then take the stairs, then a long corridor. They also charged extra for a small foldable bed for a small kid. Resume: more like a 3*** hotel, not a 4. Way overpriced (for comparison I paid almost 1/2 for 2 great rooms at Melia Luxembourg). The only nice thing about this hotel is location.
Alexander P — Google review
Overpriced. Staff are friendly, car parking service is good, but it’s too expensive for the quality of the room. And 35 euros per person for breakfast is bonkers. The local Boulangerie was a better choice.

Average hotel, strange interior at good location, however there are a lot of roadworks in their street this summer. Hotel Interior seems to be done recently. IF YOU LIKE SCREAMING INTERIORS, THIS is the place to be.... Routing of rooms and corridors is very difficult with elevators and stairs in different buildings. Very bold interior themes and huge room numbers woven in carpet make it even more confusing. Breakfast was below average. Coffee was not good. The positive point was the receptionist. Very nice and service oriented person.
Jan S — Google review
We had high expectation of a hotel colocated with the best restaurant in town, 2-star Michelin. Big disappointment! The front desk staff was beyond rude. Frommer's guide subtly mentioned that "staff can be gruff"; it's worse. Paid over US$200 (breakfast and parking extra) per night for a minuscule room and a clogged bathtub. The separate toilet room, a gem! When sitting down your knees could easily touch the wall in front. The bathtub was clogged; the caulking cracked and discolored. The attached pictures show the view from our room. A decrepit building in utter disrepair! What a shame!

Nestled in the vibrant heart of historic Dijon, the former coaching inn known as Chapeau Rouge is home to the culinary brilliance of William Frachot. This talented chef, hailing from a family of restaurateurs and having traveled extensively through places like England and Quebec, brings a unique flair to his dishes. His approach is refreshingly straightforward yet inventive, showcasing an impressive blend of international flavors with local ingredients.
Excellent 2 Michelin star restaurant in Dijon (as of 2024), serving classic local/regional cuisine and ingredients (like river/lake fish) with a modern touch. Elegant setting and elegant presentations with attentive and expert service. Excellent wine list as you could expect in the burgundy region.

The only 2 michelin star restaurant I tried in Dijon. They lost our reservation but was graceful enough to carve out a table for us. We picked the 5 course menu: Chicken with paprika and comte and Gruyere cheese puff - the comte sauce was divine, rich and flavorful and the chicken and leek served as the best dipping material for that sauce. The cheese puff was a little disappointing as I was expecting an oozy cheese center but it was dry. Egg with bacon and red wine sauce with mushrooms - the presentation of this cheese was definitely not michelin star, but the bacon and red wine mix at the bottom was very flavorful and it was overall a good dish. The butter is too hard and the bread is cold. Mushroom ravioli with mushroom jus and lardon - this dish was outstanding, the dumplings were delicate and chock full of small chopped mushrooms which was full of umami, complemented by a velvety smooth mushroom sauce. Onion with gratinated comte, onion jus and onion tartlet - another great dish, the jus was very flavorful and well balanced, and the onion was so sweet, and the comte on it just brought out the umami in the onion. The onion crisps were microthin and very delicate - loved this dish. Bream with red wine sauce and carrot with cepes, fish liver quenelle with red wine sauce - the fish was nicely cooked, the wine sauce was exceptional. The fish liver quenelle was surprisingly tasty, very light and soft with subtle taste of fish liver. Crayfish, buckwheat cracker, cassis jelly, licorice jelly, pickled celery - the crayfish was perfectly poached, the buckwheat cracker was crispy and the earthiness of it complemented the delicate sweetness of the crayfish. The jus just brought the whole dish together, together with the pickled celery. Pork in different ways, pork shoulder, pork loin, piglet sauce, potato puree, blood pudding - a dish that was nicely executed - the blood pudding was delicious, and the potato puree was pure butter. Fig, goat cheese ice cream, blackcurrant - a ripened baked fig, served with goat cheese, the perfect combination. The petit four was delicious, especially the hazelnut cone filled with hazelnut cream. The mille feuille was very crisp and very well executed. All in all, a decent meal, great flavors, but could improve in service and the bread.

We were here during our honeymoon July 2025. As two Asians/obvious tourists I feel we did not receive the same level of service as other tables. Our waters were not refilled, breadcrumbs were not wiped etc. I almost ate a bone in one fish course to which the server said ‘we are sorry for it’. Food was very good but overall the experience was disappointing for two Michelin stars.
Claire C — Google review
Amazing experience. Our table enjoyed the 5 course tasting menu. Service was impeccable. We were pretty early and tired from walking around all day and had cocktails in the bar until they opened. They brought us our amuse bouche in the bar and then we moved to the dining room. We were seated in a semi private area in the front. It was truly a wonderful dining experience.
Lawrence T — Google review
There were at least 3 times when the server came by our table and our glass of waters were empty. One of the times he poored one of the two persons sitting and not the other. If the water was on the table I would pour it myself but since this is a 2 star Michelin you have other types of expectations. Butter was not explained and even after we asked I did not feel the mustard taste. The tartine of bone marrow was not explained and it tasted extremely salty. It must have been the saltiest bone marrow of my life. And now, the good parts:) Desert was lovely: first one was fresh the other one looked like a fairytale tribute to hazelnuts. We started with a soup of mushroom which tasted phenomenal. Quenelle was very tasty and we just followed up to understand the cooking process. It was unreal soft! We enjoyed the finest burgundy pinot noir. Overall it felt more like a one star rather than 2.

Excellent meal. Flammekueche was delicious, crispy and light. We had the one with duck breast and the smoked salmon one. Prices are reasonable and restaurant is tidy and welcoming. Very friendly staff. I’d be happy to go back!

We went here for dinner last night in Dijon. And I'm really glad we didn't miss it. The service only gets four stars because everyone was really really nice but they got a bit busier than they were staffed for so service got a little bumpy. Otherwise the food was great, the flammenküchen are not to be missed. Really, really creative and just delicious.

A lovely find whilst we stayed in nearby Beaune. Finding vegan options was a struggle until we found this restaurant. I had the Vegan Fox followed by the Vegan pudding option. Delicious food and great service.

What a great find! We shared a vegetarian flammekueches, a glass of wine each and profiteroles each. Food was excellent. Service a tad slow but they were extremely busy for Sunday lunch and a group of 30+ arrived but we managed to get our order in before them. Very friendly staff with excellent English which we needed. Highly recommend

We had the Flammkuchen, which was absolutely delicious. There were various options available – from traditional styles to more creative combinations with unique ingredients. The service was friendly, and the prices were reasonable. We paid around 50 € for two people, including two Flammkuchen and two cocktail and desert. Definitely recommendable!

The tables and menus were very sticky and the whole place reeks. I felt uncomfortable to touch anything. The glasses are placed upside down on the table…and my glass was dirty. There were tables next to us full of glasses and dishes left uncleaned which attracted lots of flies. Service was slow even though there weren’t many tables occupied. The food was alright.

We visited this restaurant during our trip to Dijon. The flammekuche was okay, but the tables were very sticky and our table was next to a table which was full of used glasses around which flies were partying. Was it terrible? No. Am I going to come back? Absolutely not.

The Palais des Ducs et des États de Bourgogne, located in the heart of Dijon, is a medieval palace housing an impressive collection of artifacts dating back to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. This historic site also hosts the Musee des Beaux Arts, one of the most spectacular museums in Dijon.
Amazing place to visit. Especially the room with the crypt and the sculptures throughout the museum space. Definitely worth the visit.

To visit the Palace you shall visit the museum of fine arts. A lot of paintings and art pieces. The top thing to see is the Duques tombs.... JUST AMAZING.
Luis G — Google review
It is a very imposing palace from the outside and it was interesting to look round it. Most of the building has been converted into an art museum containing less well known paintings. The main room containing the ducal tombs was worth seeing, but apart from that it was difficult to get a feeling of what the Palace used to be like.

Absolutely beautiful outside and inside, definitely must do when coming to visit Dijon. Easy access, elevators help when you’re tired of walking stairs. The Tour of the Tower of Phillipe Le Bon is well worth the time and effort. Frequent stops and history lessons with knowledgeable guides.

Amazing collection of art and historical pieces. Especially considering this is a regional Capital and not Paris where one would expect these treasures. No entrance fee. The people of Burgundy rightfully feel art and history are important.
Mischa — Google review
Palace turned into a museum. There were a lot of amazing pieces of artwork and artifacts. The tombs were especially beguiling in their intricacies and detailing. I am continually awed by the workmanship and craftsmanship. I can barely write cursive anymore and couldn’t imagine wielding a carving tool to chisel out lace and filigree. I will stick to tapping on a keyboard and come back here to see the mastery of yesterday’s.

Liberation Square, also known as Place de la Liberation, is a prominent public square located in the heart of Dijon, France. This historic square serves as a central gathering point and civic space and is surrounded by remarkable landmarks and impressive architecture. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful sunny weather while sitting in the spacious open area, observing bustling cafes along the edges. The square features small fountains scattered across its large stone pedestrianized expanse, providing a peaceful atmosphere free from vehicular traffic.
Liberation square is really the Town centre of Dijon. It is a nice very large semi circle square packed with fabulous restaurants & café's. If you are in Dijon it is unmissable!

Stately and lively square at the end of Dijon city center. Loved the "horizontal" fountain in the middle of the place. Pleasant location by day and by night
Tony B — Google review
A royal hemicycle turned civic living room. Drawn in the late 1600s to frame the ducal palace, the square’s changing names track politics — Place Royale, d’Armes, Impériale, then in 1944 the present Place de la Libération. It has staged big moments from exhibitions to Marsac's demise to de Gaulle’s wartime address. The 2005–2006 redesign by Jean-Michel Wilmotte set pale Comblanchien stone, three low fountains and discreet lighting, so the geometry that once magnified power now hosts café terraces, museum traffic and evening promenade.

Le Pré aux Clercs is a historic brasserie situated in the lively Place de la Liberation. It offers classic French cuisine with a modern twist, featuring a prix fixe menu and accommodating various dietary restrictions. The elegant dining room and outdoor terrace provide a bustling yet charming atmosphere, making reservations advisable for dinner. Owned by the renowned Michel Guerard but independently run, this restaurant offers an imaginative selection of dishes with outdoor seating overlooking the Palace of the Dukes.
Very professional service. Friendly staff, reasonably price for the quality of the food served. Well decorated. Food nicely presented and really yummy! Recommend this restaurant, the best place to eat on La place de la Libération.

This big restaurant is situated right in the heart of Dijon at the beautiful Place de la Libération. Le Pré aux Clercs has a nice big terrace to enjoy on sunny days. We sat inside this bustling restaurant that clearly is well equipped to accommodate large groups of people. We went for the three course menu. At a price of 39 euros, this was a great deal. The service was friendly and very efficient. We liked the food. Although the tuna could have been a bit bigger and was too oily to our taste. Price quality this is a very good place to eat.

Edit - revisited: Came back to Dijon after a year - and came back to this restaurant as well. We enjoyed it very much last time and decided to come back. Made a reservation online for an outside table. And good so: Because it was fully booked outside - and our table was waiting for us. Service again as last time was really caring, helpful and friendly. Our Bulldog was welcome here too. Had the Le Carpaccio de Sériole and the Burrata dish for starters. Both excellent. Nicely presented with wonderful flavours. The Burrata was really creative, like a foam - a dish you should try. For the mains we both had the Classique Tartare de Boeuf Limousin, which we enjoyed so much last time. And it was still as great as last time. Really high quality Limousin beef. With fresh, hot and crispy french fries. Had a bottle of white wine with the meal. Service, food and location. All excellent. And prices for this location more than fair. Definitely will be back here again. First visit: Our vacation was almost at an end. And we wanted to get some good Beef Tartare before leaving the country. This restaurant here is one of many on the Place de la Libération, but has some good feedback and an interesting menu. We booked a table online, to make sure we get a seat. And it was a very busy day (sunday) at the restaurant. The reservation worked out perfectly and we got a nice table outside in the shade. Our Bulldog was welcome as well. Ordered some nice french white wine and and the mains: Oeufs en Meurette and the Beef Tartare (Limousin beef). The oeufs are a real local specialty with a nice sauce au Pinot Noir and garniture Bourguignonne (oignons, lardons et champignons de Paris). A great dish. The beef tartare was as good as I hoped it to be. Wonderful fresh and tasty meat quality. For me Charolais and Limousin beef are surely the two best kinds of beef for Tartare. Delicous. Fries were nice and crispy. All in all a really enjoyable lunch. Nice location, friendly staff and good food. We will definitely be back next summer to try out some other dishes - and of course some more Tartare.

Good food and excellent wine selection. Beautiful location Service was slowish and the server was not always paying attention. The main dish (beef cheek) would be improved by having more vegetables.

Great location with good views. We stopped by for lunch and had some lovely food. For mains we shared the beetroot salad with raspberry vinaigrette (“Nuage de Betterave au Vinaigre de Framboise”). It was simple yet delicious. For mains we got the steak tartare (“Tartare de Bœuf Limousin”) and the duck breast (“filet de canette des dombes”). They were both very fresh and tasty! And to finish off, we shared the pavlova which is always a good idea!

Beautiful location facing an elegant square with fountains. Food was decent although seems lacking seasoning a bit. We had specials of the day: tuna which was not rare enough to my taste and beef sirloin which was good but a bit tough. The deserts, chocolate tart and tart tatin, were delicious. Our young server was very helpful, friendly and made us feel welcome, so was the host. Both actually smile unlike one middle-age water with mustache that almost spoiled our good impression about service. He seems to be in charge of taking orders with an iPad and behaves very snobbish and mechanical, it’s like he’s processing driver’s license at a DMV. He was quite impatient and almost rude when we didn’t understand we were supposed to select a side dish. But overall the restaurant is decent and the view is hard to beat.
Vlad G — Google review
Very strange, it appears the staff strongly dislike the customers. The food was good and served quickly but wow ALL the staff's behavior was very disdainful. Whether serving or loudly dumping the cutlery it felt like the staff was actively trying to clear the restaurant. I would not eat here again or recommend the restaurant.

Les Halles Market in Dijon, France is a must-visit for food enthusiasts. The market offers a wide array of specialty cheeses, freshly baked breads, pastries, and artisan chocolates. Category: Public Food Market. We love visiting public food markets and have strolled many market aisles in many cities and countries. Some food markets have transformed into food halls, like Mercado San Miquel in Madrid (one of my favorite places in the world). Some markets that once sold food now sell mostly clothes and trinkets. We shared a freshly baked Pain au Chocolate as we strolled among this market’s stalls. I’m happy to report that the Les Halles Dijon market is still mostly traditional, selling uncooked food, with many butchers, fishmongers, cheese mongers, olive merchants, wine merchants, Boulangers, and Patissiers plying their wares in this 19th Century cast iron Victorian-style building. There was probably more cheese than anything else. No surprise there. There was a little prepared food and also a wine bar, which was surprisingly busy during our morning visit. Traditional food at its best in Dijon. Place: it is on an alley on the side to notre dame cathedral in Dijon. The place is beautiful and very traditional, so is it decorated. It is charming. Service: you need to book here for dinner, we did by luck. The service is super kind they are young people that is looking forward to help you and recommend you the best. However they are only 2 and they lack sometimes attention Food: Starters, snails and poached eggs on wine souce. The scargots were one of the most beautiful things I have ever tried. Covered on a freshly made puff pastry. If you come here just try it. The eggs were also good but compared to the snails was nothing. Mains. seabreem with a risotto and Turkey with potatoes and roasted vegetables. Both perfectly cooked. Lacked a bit of extra taste on the turkey. Dessert: creme brule and caramelized pumpkin with mascarpone cheese. Just one word, delicious. I strongly recommend this place. Great value, authentic cuisine and kind service.

La Moutarderie Fallot in Dijon was such a fun and memorable stop during our trip. Amazing place to go for the chance to view so many different mustards - all authentic Dijon, made from only local mustard seeds and wine vinegar made with the local wine. Just entering the shop and being surrounded by shelves of mustard jars was an experience in itself. Many available to sample (I think different ones on different days) so many new flavours to discover! Staff are very helpful and friendly and the prices extremely reasonable. Great for finding a special little gift to take home. Beware! Mustard is not allowed in the Musee des Beaux Arts (a couple of minutes walk away) so although the Musee will keep it for you, probably best to buy your mustard after visiting the museum

Lovely restaurant with great tasting food and nice service. Once we sat down we were promptly attended to, ordering the beef and duck. This is a beautifully designed bar-restaurant. It’s a great place to visit at night, although unfortunately, they don’t serve food in the late hours. The service and interior design are excellent. I can’t comment on the taste of the meals, as I missed my chance by arriving too late.

Good service, great location on the square - very tasty food everyone enjoyed their dishes. Was impressed with portions for smaller menu and price point was great! Will visit again - we ate outside and enjoyed the wonderful views of the palace. Only downside and no-fault of the restaurant - nearby smokers ended up ruining our meal. Wish France would get the 411 on second hand smoke - is not a great taste with beef bourgignon and chicken Caesar salad.

The prices are rather high, but in line with the restaurants in the city centre of Dijon and the quality as well as the view are very good (for three small starter, a bottle of water and a desert we ended up paying 35€). The staff is friendly, the furnishing is stylish and the bathrooms are clean. Overall a very positive experience.

I had a Bourguignon (beef stew) and glass of Givry - Verre. The most tasty wine I had in Bourgundy. Perfect match. Nice interior, clean toilet and nice services.

A trap for tourists. Very kid-unfriendly, non-flexible, and very slow service even though it was empty already around 20:00. The waiters were talking to each other and not willing to work. Mediocre food, sad taste, bad experience. I give 1 star because I can not give 0… Definitively a “no go”!

The atmosphere provides a nice view of the bustling Halles de Dijon, adding to the overall appeal of this hidden gem.
Awesome place. Friendly staff. we tried the traditional dishes and it was excellent! The mousse of chocolate was so delicious too. I highly recommend! 👌🏾 it's better you reserve before you go.

We loved the meat, it was really good quality. The brochette dish was okay, not bad, but shrimps were a little dry. It was my first time trying a Pain Perdu and it was abundant and not too sweet, I liked it.

A very nice place, in the center of Dijon where you can fully enjoy the Burgundian cuisine. The food was excellent and the service waiting times were good considering the the place was almost full. In full season a reservation is highly recommended for dinner. See the attached pictures to see some of the dishes we had and we are highly recommending.

We had an excellent lunch at Chez Copains on our first day in Dijon. The service is super friendly and efficient, the atmosphere is nice, giving you a good view of the busy areas surrounding the Halles de Dijon and the food is super well served and quite delicious. We liked everything we tasted, and their chocolate mousse is a must.

TARTIN'ART BOULANGERIE, SNACKING, TRAITEUR offers a diverse array of bread and pastries, including a delightful breakfast menu that features a drink and half baguette with butter and jam for an affordable price. Despite the occasional presence of bees outside the eatery, overall it provides a pleasant experience. The pain au chocolat is particularly delicious. This lovely establishment also serves scrumptious sandwiches filled with chicken or other meats along with vegetarian options.
Lovely Boulangerie serving great bagettes and sandwiches packed full of chicken or other meats plus vegetarian options. Coffee is self serve after you pay but the machine is fun to use. Staff very nice and happy to speak French with tourists if preferred.

Cafe
Café Chez Nous is a popular spot located in a small alley near the Halles market in Dijon. It has a charmingly scruffy setting and is known for offering some of the cheapest drinks in the area. The café has an eclectic energy, attracting artists, locals, tourists, and friends. The décor takes you back to the 1970s and provides a pleasant atmosphere for sharing conversations with neighboring tables.
Our favourite bar in Dijon. Friendly and eccentric crowd, not pretentious like other bars we went to. Huge thanks to the young guy working Friday and Saturday - he was incredibly helpful and welcoming, especially since my French is horrible. He also told me it’s the oldest bar in Dijon which we didn’t know.
Jordan H — Google review
Really homey café with inexpensive comfort food. The vegetarian entrée and dish is only 7€ total! Be sure to book in advance, as the place is often packed (especially on weekends). You may have to do this in-person since their phone number doesn't work. I believe this is really only a lunch place too, though sometimes they have dinner. Would highly recommend!
Lily F — Google review
Cheap drinks, house wine is great value and the staff and customers make the place. If you can’t speak French someone might speak your language and start a conversation. Go for the atmosphere, good coffee and it is a hole in the wall that is worth finding. Don’t be intimidated by the posters and graffiti on the walls down the alley.
Ken P — Google review
I have lived in Dijon for 10 years now and there is no place like the Chez Nous. Eclectic energy of artist, locals, tourists, and friends. I'm going to be honest, I stopped going for a while. The vibez were low, the place was dirty and the atmosphere was just not the same. However, after the pandemic, I wanted to reconnect and started going again. Wow!! Is my new reaction, what a pleasant change. I even bring my clients in after meetings for the returned authentic Dijonnaise vibesz, drinks & food. Market days are fun! Super dog friendly and the dogs love the Chef!!

Museums
The Natural History Museum, established in 1860, is a free-admission institution located in Dijon, France. It features permanent and temporary exhibitions that offer an immersive journey through diverse collections of flora, fauna, fossils, and geological specimens. The museum is situated within the Jardin des Sciences park and botanical garden. Visitors can explore various artifacts and props including actual fossils while enjoying the surrounding area which includes a playground near the Planetarium and a nearby churros & chocolate van.
Free entry, was bigger than I'd expected (took me half an hour to see everything and take some photos), nothing on the walls in English, but as most of the exhibits are fossils and stuffed animals, it's not really necessary. It's always a shame to see animals killed for display purposes, but I assume these are all quite old (but well preserved of course). Some interesting animals on display, especially the marine life. Employee at the main desk was very welcoming. Next to a nice park. Recommended activity while in Dijon.
Jeremy K — Google review
Free little natural history museum. Everything is in French, but the exposition speaks for itself.
Veve L — Google review
It's simple, but very nice, considering it's free. There's a lot of stuffed animals, some fossils and even animal recordings, I thought their work was very well done. Definitely recommend if you have kids, or even if you're just an enthusiastic, like me lol The whole visit took about 40 minutes and it is not accessible, unfortunately. You have to climb some stairs, some of them really narrow. Oh, everything is in french, which was good for me as a student, but maybe not the best if you don't speak the language.
Erika H — Google review
We arrived 30 minutes before closing time yet the staff at the entrance insisted we visited the museum. Must say that the staff were friendly and attentive 💯. The entry is free and the exhibition very interesting to visit, a great compliment to the botanical gardens. A very much recommended experience for all.

Specialty Museums
Gingerbread Mulot and Petitjean is a historic bakery in Dijon, known for its famous pain d'epices (gingerbread) that dates back to the time of the French Revolution. The founders' descendants have transformed part of the bakery into a museum that offers an audio guide in English, providing insights into the company's history and the process of making pain d'epices. Visitors can enjoy tasting sessions of four different products at the end of the tour.
Overall, the visit to the museum was very pleasant! Audio guides were provided while the information shared in the rooms (including the description of the operational stages) was comprehensible and in a user-friendly form. At the end, we were offered pieces from four different products to taste while the staff were very friendly! There is only one floor and the tour takes around 1 hour. There is also a shop with a good variety of products on offer.
Marina D — Google review
Short exhibition. Done in 30 minutes. The parking was a problem, they actually have enough space on grounds to allocate a couple of visitors parks which they should do since its not that busy. I wanted to like their gingerbread, I really did, but I find it very dry. If your passing go visit for 30 minutes as the AI speeches of the original founders is cool marketing.
Sarah S — Google review
Although there really isn't an equivalent for pain d'épice in English (gingerbread feels like a misnomer especially compared to the gingerbread Americans eat), this museum/factory offers quite an exciting look at how Mulot et Petitjean was founded and the process for making the bread. There is an entry fee of 8€ into the museum, upon which you will enter an office room and listen to the history behind the family and the factory, then you'll explore the ingredients used in the process and discover the machinery and equipment, as well as peering inside the factory through glass windows. Upon exiting, there's a small tasting of different types of bread and of course, one can't help but buy some of the delicious bread to take home. Overall, it was a lovely experience and the audioguide was quite informative. There are only 3 rooms, so it's not that large of a museum, but if you're in Dijon and want to head away from the bustle of the city, this is a very cool exhibit to check out.
James — Google review
The Google directions from the center of town were terrible for walking, it took me three tries to figure out how to get here! You need to cross the main road early, the way it guides you if you don't is blocked by a locked door. Once I finally did I enjoyed it, there was an audio guide in English to take me through the history of the company and a bit of their industrial process for how they make pain d'épices. At the end there was a tasting of four products. I ended up buying some bread after enjoying what I tasted, I felt like it was good value and enjoyed my experience here.
Ivy A — Google review
Great tour of the factory and its history. Yummy all that we tasted.
Mariela S — Google review
Very interesting history of the company. Informative and nice employees, they manage English well and the museum is by-lingual. You get a tasting at the end!

Vertigo Hotel

Hotel
Located in the heart of Dijon, Vertigo Hotel is a chic and modern boutique hotel housed in a converted Haussmann building. The guest rooms feature a bold black-and-white color scheme, suspended beds, and upscale amenities like Nespresso machines and large TV screens with mini-Macs. The hotel also boasts an indoor pool, Nuxe spa, and wellness center for guests to enjoy.
We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Vertigo. They clearly embraced their name to craft a unique and playful experience—tilted ceiling art, a floating bed set diagonally in the room, and bold design elements throughout. The bar had a great vibe with a live DJ, which added to the fun. Just a few tips: keep an eye on the room temperature—it got very hot overnight and woke us up. Also, the red and green window lights can be distracting at night, but easily covered with a towel. Overall, it was a fun and memorable stay—perfect if you enjoy modern, creative hotels with personality.
Carolina P — Google review
Disappointing Experience at Vertigo Hotel Dijon – Not Up to Marriott Standards As a Marriott Titanium Elite member, I expected a warm welcome and a level of service reflecting the loyalty I’ve shown to the brand. Unfortunately, Vertigo Hotel in Dijon fell far short of these expectations. The check-in process was frustrating and unwelcoming. Despite my elite status, there was no recognition or effort to make me feel valued. On top of that, I was charged €200 for the minibar (€100 per room), which feels excessive and unjustified. The minibar contains bare minimum of assortiment and contains only cheap products. This left a very poor first impression. The staff at the reception were notably unfriendly, with little interest in providing helpful service or resolving concerns. The rooms are small and not particularly well-equipped, certainly not what you would expect at this price point. On the positive side, the location is excellent, and the rooms were clean—but these are basic expectations, not redeeming qualities for a hotel positioned as upscale. Overall, I did not feel welcome as a Marriott Titanium Elite member, and I regret choosing this property. I do not recommend Vertigo Hotel in Dijon, especially for loyal Marriott travelers expecting a certain standard of hospitality.
Andreas B — Google review
Stayed one night solo at Hotel Vertigo and absolutely loved it. My attic-style room was full of charm and artistic design. The staff were warm and kind, especially after a long travel day. Beautiful interior, cozy ambiance, and a lovely view of Dijon’s rooftops. A perfect boutique stay,Also Spa was fantastic — will definitely return.
Atieh R — Google review
Decent enough room. Downside was the lift wasn't working properly on the day of check out so had to use the stairs down. Note that the parking is 1.85m height. Close enough to walk into the city centre.
R C — Google review
Hugely Overpriced, tiny tiny rooms, I could barely find a place for my suitcase. There’s a big advertising blue light inside the window which they won’t/cant switch off which lights up your room interior at night. Elevator is super slow and you can’t take the stairs as they don’t go to reception. This place is no more than a simple 2 star hotel, so it gets 2 stars from me. The breakfast is pathetic. Good location and friendly staff but place is a big let down.
Conor K — Google review
Hotel is a tad small for 2 pax but the room is designed trendily. The location is superb. The carpark is not easily accessible especially with luggage. Suggest to drop them off at the front of hotel prior to parking.

I made my reservation using my Mariott membership and credit card on 5/27/2025 and got an immediate confirmation for my booking of the Magique Suite for 7/18-20/2025. I received a reminder and again a confirmation on 7/12/2025. I thought everything was fine until I arrived the hotel on 7/18/2025. At the check-in counter, they said they have cancelled my room reservation and sent an email to me on just the day before (7/17/2025). I did not check my email that often during a long trip from America so I and my family was really surprised. Their reason was that somehow my Mariott credit card was not working!! (No problem using my card in my entire European trip) They then gave us a much smaller room. I am not sure what is the deal because I ended up using the same credit card to book these smaller rooms on the spot and paid for them without any problem. How can they cancel my room a day before my arrival while I booked and confirmed 2 months in advance? I am still very upset with this experiences. Besides, they have a strong fragrance everywhere in the hotel that caused nasal allergic reactions to my son and I. Those who tend to have nasal allergey should be aware.

Haute French restaurant
La Maison des Cariatides is a restaurant located in the antique dealers' quarter of Dijon. The 17th-century building features 10 caryatids on its facade and is owned by Vincent and Marie-Cecile Gomis, who bring their expertise to the beautifully presented food. The menu offers modern cuisine with cosmopolitan accents, such as gravlax of Crisenon trout and grilled avocado with jerk spices.
Hands down one of the best meals we've had in our life! As 1st time visitors to Dijon this elegant little restaurant exceeded all expectations... the prefix dinner allowed the chefs to show off their amazing skills ... each item was carefully curated with a unique taste & presentation; elements were fresh and locally sourced. Courses were accompanied with a description from the friendliest wait staff ... together with the recommended wine parings and desserts (& pre- desserts!) our experience was over the top and one to remember. 5+ Stars!!!

Best restaurant in Burgundy. Superb food and service. Very special menu and unique dishes. Amazing experience.
Elina L — Google review
Really great experience. Food was very good. Only a couple times did a spice and acid overwhelm a bite. Biggest downside to this place is the by the glass menu. Very underwhelming for being in Burgundy. Focus on Burgundy and Loire but seeing the basic regional Côtes du Rhône from Guigal was disappointing. It’s a supermarket wine. Big miss on by the glass list, but overall would recommend by the bottle list.

We had an excellent dinner here, many of the dishes were unique and perfectly prepared. The Duck and Fish Carpaccio were particularly excellent on the evening we attended. Only one dish fell flat, the fish soup, it was still perfectly prepared and the presentation was nice, but the flavors didn't match up to the level of the rest of the meal. The wine pairings were amazing, we thoroughly enjoyed the choices of the sommelier and will be looking to stock our own collection with some of these wines. This is not a cheap dinner, but it is well worth it for the level of service and quality of food.

We came for lunch today and were absolutely delighted. The three course meal is an incredible value for the quality of the dishes served. Each dish was gorgeously presented, and was a pure joy to eat. Each course was visually beautiful, texturally complex, and had truly wonderful flavors. The wines our server recommended for each course were superb. The space is in a historic townhouse on a quiet side street and has a simple, elegant design. It’s the best meal we have enjoyed in France so far. Bravo to the team of La Maison des Cartiatides.

La Crêpitante is a charming restaurant located in Dijon, France, offering a delightful selection of savory galettes and sweet crepes. The menu features a variety of fillings including beef, salmon, and vegetables to cater to different tastes. The cozy and welcoming ambiance makes it an ideal spot for couples and families. Additionally, the accommodating service extends to those with dietary restrictions such as gluten intolerance.
A homey little place serving fantastic crepes. We were lucky we called ahead and reserved a table as they filled up shortly after we arrived. My galette was nice and crispy on the outside and loaded with fresh egg, ham and cheese. A side salad and some cider made up the perfect lunch. One guy took care of the entire front of house and he was welcoming and efficient. Highly recommend!

It‘s a very small, local crêperie in the centre of Dijon. If you want to eat there, you have to make a reservation since the restaurant is so small but it will all be worth it! The food was very delicious, the service very competent, sympathetic and nice. The selection of food and drinks was also diverse - you could either order a la carte or create your own crêpe with ingredients of your choice with only very little difference in the price. All in all we had the best crêpes we ever ate at that restaurant! A 10/10 experience and we can only recommend going there if you’re ever in Dijon and/or crave delicious crêpes.

We liked eating here at La Crêpitante. The menu has interesting choices in both galettes and crepes. The caramel with raspbery crepe was surprising and had an amazing taste. Nice that they have a lot of vegetarian options as well. Also very nice staff.

The restaurant has no terrace and inside is rather small. The windows were closed and it felt stuffy. It was not too busy but the owner only offered us a table next to a group of 4 who were coughing and sneezing as he did not want to use his big table of four for two people. As my wife is pregnant we decided it was safest to leave.

Amazing restaurant with lovely waiters and a very nice atmosphere. You can really feel the care that has gone into the menu, cooking and service. We opted for the set menu of three courses, very reasonably priced at €54. However they also brought around some very tasty amuse bouches to start as well as some sweet treats to finish - not to mention the very good bread they kept us supplied with throughout the meal. Each course was delicious, with carefully selected and interesting ingredients that really popped on their own whilst complimenting the dish as a whole. Would wholeheartedly recommend!

Had the most fantastic evening here. I have very basic French at best, but that proved no problem. The front of house team are excellent and were able to describe everything in English for me. I've eaten some very good food on this trip to France, but this would rate right up there. It's not cheap, but you get the full experience and it feels worth every cent. If I get back to Dijon, I'll certainly be coming back to L'Essentiel.

Really lovely modern Restaurant with creative cuisine. We went for lunch which is a good value. The first courses we're fantastic and our favorite part of the meal. The main dishes we're also good but didn't match the creativity and deliciousness of the entrées, but the fish was perfectly cooked. Service could have been a little more helpful, a language barrier was a bit of an issue but we muddled through. Nice wine list but no guidance for it.

Love the service. Crew was friendly and professional despite my inability to speak French. Food was lovely - flavours were clean and well balanced. Special shout-out for the dessert. It really hits home for me. The balance between sweet and sour is so good, I have to clean everything off my plate.

Modern European restaurant
La Scala Restaurant is a delightful culinary gem that has been captivating diners with its exquisite offerings. Nestled conveniently near the Parc de la Colombière and Dijon train station, it boasts a charming air-conditioned dining room as well as a sun-kissed terrace for those who prefer al fresco dining. Guests rave about the friendly staff, who go above and beyond to ensure an enjoyable experience.
This quite special bar restaurant provided a very tasty and delicious breakfast…the staff were very friendly and made our time at La Scala very special…we had a conversation with a guest at our hotel that had a dinner at this restaurant and he described the very quality food for his dinner..unfortunately for us we leave tomorrow or we would have made a dinner reservation at La Scala…

This was the only open restaurant in the area on a Sunday afternoon, so we decided to give it a try since we were starving. I ordered the seafood pasta, but unfortunately, it lacked flavor. The interior was quite plain and unremarkable. On the bright side, the staff was extremely friendly and attentive, which was a definite plus. Overall, I’d recommend this place only if you’re out of other options.

Great casual atmosphere, delicious pizza (thin crust, crispy), kind, attentive servers. Quality ingredients. They offered huile pimenté and it was delicious! A+

Okay so I am English, this was my second visit, yes I went back because the first visit was good waitress were nice especially one who new more English than the other, did a wonderful impress of a chicken, great sense of humour and friendly, the food was of an acceptable standard and yes it was a little pricy, not much really on the plate but what there was was nice, a little more on the plate please, but then if something is good you always want a little more. I would eat here again.

Good pizza and pasta dishes with good service. Not the cheapest but not expensive.

Place looks nice. Open sunday but closes early so we couldn't test the food. Price for drinks a bit expensive. But its in the center of the city and has space on the terrace.

Fine dining restaurant
French restaurant
L'Aspérule DIJON is a renowned restaurant in the city, adding to Dijon's impressive culinary scene. It is led by Keigo Kimura, a protege of Joel Robuchon, and offers French cuisine with a Japanese twist. The restaurant has gained recognition for its modern take on classic Burgundian dishes. Situated at 43 Rue Jean Jacques Rousseau, it is celebrated for its elegant charm and refined flavors.
We absolutely loved every course we had here! We have eaten at Michelin star restaurants in France previously and this far surpassed those. There was a balance to every dish that we appreciated and some delicious umami flavours unsurpassed elsewhere. Utterly recommended 👌

The set menu lunch was enjoyable, though it lacked starter options. I liked the fish dish, but the haché wasn’t to our taste. The 72-hour cooked meat was tender and delicious. The highlight was the millefeuille dessert — delightful with an excellent mix of flavors.

Very good french food with a Japanese touch. We ate dinner and had the 120 Euro surprise menu. I enjoyed every dish. The wine pairing also worked well with one of the selections being sake. Service was very good and attentive. Deserves the Michelin star and we felt like we got good value for what we paid.

Great food and service, enjoyed our time! Need to explore the amazing wine list more next time!

The tasting menu is absolutely stunning and beyond expectations. Classic but with a little twist that makes each composition memorable. You discover the different plates as you go, and there is no bad surprise. Unfortunately, the sommelier ruins the experience. Since it is a surprise menu, he plays a key role in pairing the wine. I gave him a generous 100 euros budget for a bottle. The only thing he managed to match was the price limit of the bottle (98 euros), but the well crafted, somewhat academic wine was totally overpowered by the food. Short finish, lack of minerality. Moreover, it came to cold at the beginning to become lukewarm at the end of the 2 hours experience. No coolers! Cheap standard wine glasses for table wine. It is impossible to appreciate a complexer nose with this shape of glass. At l'Asperule food is terrific value for money. Wine is just the margin enhancer.

If only for the dessert alone, this calm restaurant is worth a visit. The melon confit dessert by the pâtissière is a subtle bouquet of flavours and texture. The duck appetizer is wonderful and might benefit from a better display. The main dishes (cod, veal) are delicious, just the companion sauces are rather overpowering. It is a pity one waiter rushed us for orders of all glasses of wine right at the beginning rather than letting us decide as the courses evolved, we also were not given a chance to even taste the wine before he poured a whole glass 😓. Other than that, it is a pleasant experience.

Every dish was in his own way perfect. Each component matches each other. Unique and interesting taste. Cook I guess like Japanese kitchen and everything has little bit Japanese components. When they served Kareaage, even toothpick was Japanese. Definitely cook deserves Michelin Star. Unfortunately and again very unfortunately (it’s second time in Dijon) I am facing perfect restaurant and very bad service. Arrogant waiter… Another thing is sound of the dishwasher during dinner. Very nice and high level atmosphere. Prices are quite high, but you know why you are paying, just need to admit that there was only one compliment from kitchen, not typical for Michelin Star restaurants. Nice experience, I will come back one day (Hopefully service will be improved). Ratings are below (1 - worse, 5 - the best): The overall food is very very good - 4++/5. Service is bad - 2/5. Atmosphere is nice - 4/5. Prices of food and drinks are fine - 4/5. Overall - nice experience.

Probably the most exquisitely and perfectly conceived and cooked meals I've had in my life. The subtle fusion of French and Japanese cuisines and cultural aesthetics was unlike anything I have seen (or tasted) before. We had the seven-course pre-fixe dinner menu, and each course was special but fit within the broader French-Japan theme. The Japanese Wagyu fillet was the MOST perfectly cooked and delicious piece of meat I've ever had--and I'm from Texas. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!
