Nestled in the heart of Italy, the Royal Palace of Caserta stands as a magnificent testament to Baroque architecture and opulence. This sprawling palace, surrounded by lush gardens adorned with stunning fountains, was commissioned by Charles III of Bourbon as a rival to Versailles. Since its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, visitors have been captivated by its nearly 1,200 rooms filled with exquisite furnishings and breathtaking frescoes.
Amazing and impressive place; staggering the scale of it and how long it took to build, but not at all surprising when you see it. An absolute must to visit, it is the only way it can be truly appreciated. Over 1,200 rooms and about 40 metres tall! The gardens are absolutely huge and equally impressive, I recommend the minibus if you don't have so much time because you can easily spend a whole day walking around the entire property, but you do then miss out on the length of the run to the garden, especially you like taking pictures. Given the number of rooms, there's clearly a lot to see inside. Both areas contain a huge amount of creative items to see, like statues (mostly in the gardens) and paintings and other fixtures.

I think it’s one of Italy’s hidden gems. Such a lovely place with marvelous architecture and a beautiful garden. However, I believe it deserves more care and attention—the garden could be even more stunning than it currently is. The entrance ticket to the palace was €12 as of September 2025, with the last entry at 6 PM. After 5 PM, the fee is reduced to €5. The garden has a separate entrance fee of €3 and remains open until 7:30 PM. I highly recommend visiting this palace. It’s truly worth it!
Shahnoosh R — Google review
I can't recommend it enough, it's astonishing. If I was to go back I'd visit the palace one day and the gardens another. I spent a whole day from 8:30 am to 4pm and I could have easily spent a few more hours just walking around soaking the beauty of the place, but I was tired and I had to get the bus back.
Vane B — Google review
The Royal Palace of Caserta is a stunning 18th-century masterpiece, rivaling Versailles in scale and elegance. Designed by Luigi Vanvitelli for the Bourbon kings of Naples, it features lavish interiors, grand staircases, and expansive gardens with fountains and sculptures. A UNESCO World Heritage site, it offers a majestic glimpse into royal opulence and Italian artistry.
Marian G — Google review
Not just a must see, an amazing experience! One of the most beautiful gardens i ve ever been in my life! You should definetely go there. You can skip the palace, its just another palace, but you should get to the garden! We ve made the one way on foot, and we came back with the bus. Its a reaaaaly long distance, so i would suggest you to rent a bicycle. it would be much more pleasant. If you get there at its opening time, you will have the garden for yourself!!!
Anastasia P — Google review
The palace was so amazing and grand! I would say on the same level as Versailles for the palace, but the Versailles gardens are more beautiful. We did not do the audio tour, but it would have been better if we had chosen to do that. The gardens are amazing, but I did not think the English Garden was worth paying extra money for it. There was a communication problem trying to rent bikes or take the shuttle to reach the Diane fountain. The staff at the castle insisted they were closing tge shuttle and would not sell me a ticket,, so we decided to walk, but then the shuttles continued to run the whole time we walked and it was about 1 1/2 miles to the fountain! It was more walking than I had expected, and would have been more relaxing to ride the shuttle. But, overall, worth the experience!
Jane M — Google review
This is a gross display of royal waste and indulgence of a dynasty that stripped the region of its resources and hoarded it in the form of this palace and its ludicrously lavish contents. It is very well presented and maintained and the audio guidance is excellent but to come from the surrounding run-down city with shoddy roads and terrible parking seems all wrong. The museum could give a bit back it seems. Plan your visit away from any busy times of the week so you can get near with your car.
Steve S — Google review
Stunning palace, so much to see. The rooms were beautiful with fabulous art and the ceilings were incredible too. Walked the gardens which were lovely. No fountains on though and the gardens could do with some tlc. Also modern art has no place in a house like this! Parking was cheap.

Giardini Reali - Parco Reggia di Caserta

Historical place
Giardini Reali - Parco Reggia di Caserta is a beautifully landscaped park featuring water gardens and sculptures, located within the grounds of an 18th-century palazzo. The grounds are vast and require several hours to fully explore. Visitors should come prepared with comfortable walking shoes for the uphill 3km walk from the Palace to the top fountain and entrance to the English gardens. Sun protection is also recommended due to limited shade on this walk.
The Royal palace is beautiful 🤩 as soon as you get in, you will see the main hall, The court, and you can go straight to meet the Reggia apartments on the second floor and the main rooms, they have beautiful and diverse art. When you finished to see everything there, you will go to the Gardens, they are so beautiful! It is a long walk to the gardens and fountains. You can get a golf cart $10E, or bus ride $2.50E, or you can rent bikes! It is a beautiful ride 🤩 $4E regular bikes, or $6E electric. We bought the tickets there for $18E adults, and my kids 10 and 12 year old did not paid. Is really a beautiful place to visit!
Eileen O — Google review
Beautiful gardens! Quite big to walk if your not very mobile, but there is choice of little cars or bus to take you from A to B point and back. It the worth visit.
Kristina N — Google review
Absolutely amazing! If you are visiting the park, the garden and the apartments you definitely need more than 4 hours! Wear comfortable shoes! I paid for the extra 5€ to take you to the top of the garden and back. Worth it! So much to see in the apartments. I don't know what I missed. I wish they had a downloadable map. They have only an audio guide which I didn't see value in without a map. I'd prefer a map versus the audio. Lavish, opulent, inspiring and beautiful! They have the option to purchase a pass, which I would buy if I was even a couple hours away. Going back again! If you're going during high time then yes, of course but tix in advance. I just went during a weekday at the end of October and the weather was perfect. A little chilly but not freezing and it was warm enough to walk in the garden with my sweater on. The sun was out.

Park is very large and beautiful with plenty to see. You can walk it but it you’ll need time to do so. There’s shuttles and carts available but will cost a little extra.
Justin Y — Google review
The most magnificent building I've ever been to. The rooms were really interesting and opulent to the max. The gardens are equally majestic and amazingly well-kept. The size of the palace was unbelievable. It's got about 1200 rooms and you can visit many of them. They also house modern exhibitions in some rooms. You can rent bikes and go around the gardens, too.
Antigone E — Google review
Best value for money experience in this region. We went there early and had the best time. We walked around 9km around the palce. Yes, I know 😁 but there are available small buses, golf carts and bikes for those of you that don't like walking. They're affordable as well. Other than that, it's the most beautiful place. A must see! Do not miss Bagno di Venera!!
Maltina — Google review
Great day out, walking through the palace and it's gardens. You can preorder tickets or queue to get them, when you arrive, it took us 5-10mins to get our tickets. Walking around the rooms/chambers, takes you about 1 hours +. Then you head out to the gardens, you can hire regular/ectric bikes, golf carts or go on the buses to reach the end of the gardens.

Beautiful!!:) the whole distance, if you wanna to go by feet is around 5-6 km so good to consider bikes rental if you are not a fan of walking.

Stadio Alberto Pinto is a football stadium in Italy's Serie C, known for its nice atmosphere and the need for reconstruction. The area around the stadium offers an incredible pizza made by a mobile wood cooker, adding to the cool experience. Despite not being the best football, it provides a really good atmosphere. Capatoast - Toasteria Takeaway is a charming eatery situated in the heart of Caserta. The friendly staff, led by Fabrizio, provide excellent service and keep customers informed about the latest updates. The toasts are perfectly cooked, although some could have benefited from a bit more filling as they tend to be too thin. Nevertheless, patrons can look forward to exploring other enticing menus on their return visit. Additionally, the french fries are delicious and offer a unique twist.

The toasts were literally empty (don't be fooled by the photos and believe me, there was nothing inside and the chicken breast was frozen, still cold) and obviously tasteless. Will definitely not return. (Original) Di questo locale si salva solo la posizione ottima e l'ambiente pulito, nulla piu. Presi 2 toast quasi immangiabili: un bellopollo e un crudo e rucola. Once he said it wasn't possible, another time with a €2.80 discount he said it wouldn't work. So I told him and he replied, "Call customer service." Because now I have to take this money out of my pocket. Out of his pocket of what? If with the accumulation of points and consequently the money spent there, I was entitled to this discount. The cuisine at S.Lucia Pizzeria Trattoria is incredibly delectable, with reasonable prices that won't break the bank. The atmosphere is delightful, especially when seated on the second floor where you can enjoy a lovely garden view. The waiter was exceptionally pleasant and amiable. Their pizza creations are unparalleled; I highly recommend trying their margarita and caprichosa varieties. The dessert, however, was rather ordinary, particularly the calzone con nutella.
The place is near the royal palace and the train station, it's a decent trattoria, my pizza was tasty, the service was relatively fast, but it wasn't crowded when I got there so I don't know if it would be equally fast with a full house. The prices are the same as in Naples. A good option overall.

Epic pizza! Came here by chance while visiting the palace and amphitheatre in Caserta and it was great! Friendly staff, nice environment, great food (some of the best pizza I've had) and very well priced. Highly recommend.

Fast, friendly service and in full compliance with covid restrictions... The fact that this pizza was superb, however, was, of course, the highlight.. 3 pizza slices awarded by gambero rosso is a true guarantee of quality.

Delicious pizza but the croquettes were not as good as I'd hoped, seemed undercooked, maybe a one off though. Would eat there again 👍
