Heads Of Ayr Farm Park is an enjoyable attraction with plenty of activities for all ages. Visitors can partake in various outdoor activities such as bumper boats, electric tractors, quad biking and trampolines. There are also several animals to interact with including alpacas, donkeys and Pygmy goats. Animal feed can be purchased at the entrance for those who wish to feed the animals. The park may not be suitable on rainy days as most of the activities take place outdoors.
I had a lot of fun! it was a beautiful day and most of the animals were enjoying the sunshine :) there's a big variety of animals around the park, and even goats & horses which you can feed. there's toilets and lots of benches/picnic tables. there's also lots of play areas for children, including a soft play indoors. there's also a place to buy food and drink.
Rachel M — Google review
Beautiful place for a day out with kids, not so far from glasgow, they have huge parking, very different kinda of kids play and entertainment like bouncy castles, toy train rides, boat ride, mini tractors , bike ride , big slides, zip lines etc. Also animals like llama, deer, kangaroo are the main attractions. Although it has the fee around 17 pounds, but worth it. Point to be noted that, many of the rides like train , boat, truck etc are not free or included in entry fee, need to pay separately.
Vikas J — Google review
Arrived only expecting to spend half a day. We ended up staying until close. Amazing farm with plenty to do for children and adults whether it was going on the amount of playgrounds they have to offer, or driving quad bikes and riding on the miniature railway. Plenty of spaces to sit down and have your packed lunch if you've brought some with you.
Ryan M — Google review
Fantastic family day out, came here with our 6 year old who had so much fun! There is so much included in the ticket price and then a few extra which are super affordable such as the train ride and quad bikes. The staff were super friendly and you could tell that they cared about the animals and the people visiting, the site was clean and well kept. Would highly recommend to anyone as it was a great day out!
Laura C — Google review
This is a lovely farm park and a definite must visit! Well worth the money with loads of different animals as well as parks, tractors, mini train, and other fun activities like a mini tobogganing, zip line and trampolins! As well as a decent soft play which is out of sight so won't distract children from the animals. Make sure you grab a bag of animal feed!! Only one issue I have as a horsefield tortoise owner if anyone from the park see's this... he shouldn't be housed with another species as they will fight especially if either or both are males as they are more aggressive. I understand he's probably a rescue and you're probably aware of his underbite, hopefully this is something you are working on solving as this can cause problems eating. Just some small upgrades would massive improve his health and lifestyle, including a slate plate instead of plastic one to support keeping his beak trimmed, top soil as a substitute as they dig to regulate their body temperature, safe weeds and flowers are much more nutritious and you have plenty of land to beable to grow your own. My horsefield (Fluffy) loves pansy's! I honestly had a wonderful visit with my family during our holiday, and if we ever holiday again in the area we will definitely return.
CoralAmanda — Google review
Nice collection of kid-friendly animals (no big safari-style animals it's a bit smaller-scale than that). Some of the cages looked like they could have been a bit bigger but the animals looked in good condition at least. Plenty of indoor and outdoor play options and good cafes. Friendly staff and atmosphere all round.
Ben H — Google review
Absolutely love this place for a day out. Go for opening so you can get the most of the day. Entry is expensive. I think we where around £60 for 2 adults and 2 children. It is well worth it though. There are so many animals to see and you can buy feed for £2 a bag. The goats are my favourite but there are so many cuties (including alpacas which are actually at a field at the end of the car park outside so if you haven't used your animal food at closing you can go up and feed them when you leave). There are multiple different play parks for kids as well as a softplay area indoors and a shooting game thing. We always pack a lunch so we don't need to stop to go in to eat and usually eat on the wee benches next to the big slides and bouncy things. There are go karts too although we've never been on them since kids are too wee right now.
Laura F — Google review
A fantastic day out for the whole family! Hand feed animals, and there's plenty of them! Cheaper to book in advance online. I would recommend going as close to opening as possible as the afternoon got really busy. Not just animals there's plenty of activities for the kids like trampolines and adventure playgrounds

The Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway offers self-guided tours of Burns Cottage and a museum showcasing manuscripts, books, artifacts, and artwork related to the poet. The museum's collection includes a variety of Burns memorabilia such as his possessions and manuscripts. Visitors can explore biographical information and interactive displays that bring the poet's poems to life through background snippets, translations, and recitations. The museum also features entertaining audio and visual performances suitable for children.
Was a great wee day we went to Robert Burns cottage then walked down to the museum was lovely in the sunshine the grounds were well kept and clean and tidy, staff was lovely welcoming and helpful, well sign posted and the museum had loads of original written work by Robert Burns and the kids enjoyed the interaction stuff and the park outside, we never ate anything in the cafe, but lots of choice, glad we visited
Lorraine M — Google review
Interesting visit for anyone interested in this iconic poet, cottage set in pretty grounds, car parking is efficient, toilets situated just before entrance to cottage, small place as you can imagine, the actual museum is situated approximately 20 minutes walk from the cottage also the cafe, you can drive however you would miss some of the ambiance of the place, well worth a visit
Russell T — Google review
Lovely atmosphere with rich and engaging exhibits that give real insight into Robert Burns’ life and work. The café is surprisingly good too, with a wide variety of food. Overall a very enjoyable visit and well worth it.
April L — Google review
We had a day trip out to the Robert Burns museum and cottage and found both extremely interesting. The museum tells the story of his life and writings, we were surprised by the amount of music and songs he wrote as well as poetry. There are a lot of artifacts tracing his whole life and writings. The carvings of the Tam o' shanter story are excellent and well worth a look. There is also a very good restaurant there with a varied selection of food and drink. We took the poets path to the Burns Cottage but there is another car park there if you want. The cottage is well laid out and gives you a good idea how they lived back then. Outside the museum you can walk to the Burns Monument and gardens and not far from this is the Brig O'Doon bridge. All the staff we spoke to were really friendly and helpful and made it a good day out. Steve and Jenny
Steve — Google review
We only did the gardens and the walk to his birthplace as the museum isnt dog friendly. This was free and worth a look around. Good to see BrigaDoon too.
Matty S — Google review
An interesting time looking around the museum, used our NT membership. Went to view Brig a Doon and walked the Poets path both ways and enjoyed the sculptures beside the path. Didn't have time to visit his actual birth place, viewed it from the outside only.
Ian K — Google review
Museum was okay if you are into that sort of thing, the garden was lovely,if you climb the monument you get a good view of it,plus there is the brig o doon bridge, then you can go to burns cottage. Staff were really nice and explained a few things, good cup of coffee in cafe.
Heather S — Google review
The museum is excellent, a good hour or so to look around, well put together with interactive displays to maintain engagement. The shop appears quite pricey (NTS comparable), the RBB cottage could benefit from some information boards..., the cafe (visited twice in two weeks) was excellent the first time with very friendly staff, accommodating and helpful, the second visit was disappointing (different staff, different attitudes). Good size car park nearby (50-100yds), 10 min walk to RBB cottage or a short drive to the adjoining car park there.

Museum
Burns Cottage is the 18th-century childhood home of national poet Robert Burns, now transformed into a museum offering self-guided tours. Located in Alloway, it is part of the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum and surrounded by the beautiful Burns Monument and Memorial Gardens. The area also features landmarks from his famous works, such as the Brig o Doon bridge. The cottage provides an immersive experience showcasing life during Burns' time, including the very bed where he and his siblings were born.
The cottage and associated kirk and gardens are a nice bit of local history for Alloway. Well worth the visit to appreciate the life of a famous poet.

Lovely grounds surrounding cottage. Good for walks.Your ticket also gets you into museum.
Lindsay C — Google review
Really beautiful cottage, easy to find just follow poets path from the robert burns museum. Ticket covers both places
Ricky H — Google review
Very worth a visit. Enjoyed the auld Kirk, his fathers grave and the brig of Doon. The museum was very dark inside making the exhibits impossible to read in many occasions. I came out with sore eyes.
Kathleen P — Google review
Interesting to see the historic cottage, but lack of information boards was disappointing, spoiling the experience. Wouldn't return as a result.
Joshua T — Google review
Well-organised, volunteers were ready to help and tell you more about everything.
Ekaterina S — Google review
Beautiful place. So much to see, we didn't expect it. Very good for kids too, as there are children activities in the museum and the gardens are spacious and attention grabbing to. Staff are so knowledgeable and passionate about the place. There is a cafe with a lovely playground too. Prices are very reasonable both admissions and in the cafe/gift shop. I would recommend, it's worth the visit.
Anna M — Google review
The cottage itself only took a few minutes to wander through. Normally there would be a guide which would have explained some of the details. The museum is worth a walk through and the guided tour was illuminating

Ayr Beach is a picturesque and family-friendly destination that has been attracting visitors since the Victorian era. The sandy beach offers opportunities for water recreation, fishing, and leisurely strolls. On the seafront park side of the road, there's a large children's play area with a pirate ship climbing frame and a putting green for crazy golf. Additionally, the beach features stunning white sands and various activities such as crazy golf nearby.
Very nice beach, good play park for the kids although it gets a little busy. Can walk along the promenade up to the pier which offers great views along the coast down towards Greenan Castle.

Nic place discovered while I was on my short holiday. Amazing views, you can walk far in to the sea, as water is shallow. Nice playground for kids and places with delicious ice creams.

Had a lovely day at Ayr Beach! The weather was perfect — clear skies and a really lively atmosphere. Great place for a walk along the shore, and we grabbed a chippy nearby which was the perfect touch. Can’t beat it on a sunny day!
Nicole Q — Google review
Such a shame that the beach is full of litter. Unsanitary sand, too many flies due to all the rubbish around and it attracts too many seagulls because of the leftover food disposed of anywhere. No bins in sight, so no wonder the lack of care. The beach has great potential. Warm water. Impressive to see giant jellyfish. Unfortunately it doesn’t make me want to go back.
Daniela T — Google review
Ayr Beach in Ayr is a wonderful spot for a relaxing day out. The long, sandy stretch is clean and scenic, ideal for family picnics, walking along the promenade, or simply enjoying the fresh sea air. With free parking, onsite restaurants, and facilities that are wheelchair accessible, it’s a convenient and inclusive choice for all visitors. Water recreation, boating, and fishing options make it an active, enjoyable destination. The nearby entertainment center adds extra value, making it perfect for both leisurely strolls and fun-filled outings. I highly recommend Ayr Beach for anyone looking for a family-friendly place to unwind by the sea.
Priya G — Google review
What a lovely beach. We found a free car park which is a bonus and took a lovely stroll down the sea front. Plenty to see too. Beach was sandy and plenty of shell picking too.

Haven’t had a breakfast like that in a long long time. I got a big yin and a wee yin fry. The food and the service was just impeccable. Really lovely people. It was fantastic. 5 ⭐️ without a doubt 👏

Very happy with my experience here. Food was wonderful and service was fantastic for as we walked in I could tell that they were just finished clearing tables and had many groups walk in behind us, but unphased the server took care of all of us equally. The view is also something to be in awe of, especially if you are a Robert Burns fan. Also great for the budget as they have many options.

Very quaint little town with the Burns cottage as high lite of their existence. The coffee shop across the road from the cottage could be revamped considering the amounts of tourists they must be getting. The little post office/ convenience store next door was an absolute treat. Beautifully merchandised with excellent staff. I should be reviewing them!!

This is such a gorgeous place. I've not stayed in the rooms but I have been to the restaurant. The decor is lovely. Table service. The food is absolutely gorgeous at good prices. The gardens you look out onto are immaculate as this venue is used for weddings aswell.

Beautiful hotel. We ate in the restaurant with a stunning view over the iconic bridge. Service was good. Food is just ok. Sunday roast included beef that was overcooked and chewy. The rest was nice, although not a huge serving. Desserts were much the same story, with the fudge coupe nice but lacking an exceptional edge. For the view and interior it’s worth a visit though.
Jonathan J — Google review
Brig O’Doon House Hotel was the most perfect venue for our wedding day! From start to finish, the team were amazing — so attentive, organised, and genuinely caring. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and everything ran so smoothly. The setting itself is absolutely stunning, and the atmosphere on the day was just magical. Our guests are still talking about how beautiful everything was. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate our special day — thank you to everyone at Brig O’Doon for making it truly unforgettable! 💕

My wife and I went for our anniversary meal on late Wednesday evening, the decor and furnishings were fantastic. Requested a nice table for our evening - they amazed us with corner table with the beautiful landscaping and views. The staff were so kind and welcoming with there suggestions, the food came very quick within 15mins and mains came just after. Would definitely recommended to go for a bite to eat or even a drink at their amazing bar/lounge. Even gave us a beautiful wee desert to wish us a happy anniversary. Food was exceptional and the price was good for the location and quality. Haggis crepe was an amazing starter, MUST TRY!

We got married at the Brig o Doon hotel this summer. It was the perfect day from start to finish. Every member of the team were outstanding and were on hand for anything we needed. Lyndsey was our wedding coordinator on the day and she made sure everything ran smoothly. She was calm and made us feel at ease during our day. The venue is so beautiful. The food was excellent, from the canapes to our wedding meal. I wish I could do it all over again. We will definitely be back to the Brig o Doon for dinner and to reminisce on our perfect day.
Amy M — Google review
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much bother for them. In fact they went that wee bit extra without being asked which was a breath of fresh air compared with some other hotels we have stayed in. The food was exceptional as was the atmosphere in the main dining room…the decor and lighting is very “Burnsesque”, and you could imagine either Rabbie or Tam o’Shanter wandering in for a bite. I am disabled, but there are lifts in the hotel and everything is very accessible, so it’s easy to get around. Staff are very mindful toward those of us less mobile and it was nice that this seemed very natural, rather than feeling as if I was a bother. If there was one criticism, it would be the lack of parking at the actual hotel site. However, if you call the hotel directly they will give you the best advice to suit your needs. I did this and they were very accommodating. We will definitely be staying at the hotel again.
John I — Google review
Went for a meal, good selection of dishes on offer at reasonable prices. We had mains, desert & wine, all good. Since the refurbishment the decor is beautiful, and service very good, even though there was a big wedding on at the same time Would highly recommend for a meal.

Had a lovely meal in the tales restaurant with my girlfriend tonight. I had the beef bao buns to start which were delicious. We then got our mains. I had the beef wellington and my girlfriend had mac and cheese. All was good apart from my mashed potato was undercooked and was hard inside. Bit disappointing when paying £35 for a main meal. Apart from that the service and food was excellent will be back

Had an absolutely delicious lunch here today with my husband! Our server June was just so very lovely. She was attentive and friendly, nothing was too much for her and she really made our visit wonderful! The food was super tasty and really reasonably priced for the quality and size of the portions. We will be back - thanks again June! Lovely visit xx

We love staying at the Chestnuts and return every year. Our favourite room is huge and has a very large and comfy bed. The owner and staff are welcoming and genuinely interested in creating a great experience. The restaurant and bar are warm and friendly and weve enjoyed every meal. I could happily retire to the Chestnuts and stay all year.

This review relates to the restaurant only... With lots of 5 star reviews we had high expectations - but our experience was closer to 4 stars - good in parts, not so great in others. Service spot-on. Food arrived quickly. Starters good. Deserts good. Main courses - so-so. From the dishes we ate: Thai curry - a little bland Cajun chicken overcooked and dry - served with sauted vegetables - one small piece of carrot, one small piece of courgette, tiny piece of broccoli. Goulash - lamb tender but lacking in taste. Sorry guys, this price point demands more.

The Balgarth Pines Bar & Restaurant is a contemporary and family-friendly establishment located in the southern part of Ayr. Great value and huge outdoor beer garden with large kids area: swings and obstacle course. We found this gem a few weeks ago and have been back twice since, once for their special: steak and a bottle of wine for 2 (for £40), and once on a sunny day to sit in the beer garden with chips and beer while the kids played. We love it here and will be back.

Nice food and bargains for what we had. Thursday steak night is definitely one of the best nights to dine at the restaurant, a 16oz mouth watering T-bone for less than £20, no one should miss it. We will be back there again every time we visit Ayr.

Came here for the Valentine's Day special menu with my partner - 5 courses and a glass of prosecco for £27.95 per person, which in the current climate I thought was incredible value. Each course was fantastic and it was the best service I've experienced for a long time. It really felt like a special occasion with high quality foods and the staff had really gone out their way to create a wonderful relaxing atmosphere. We also had the Valentine's cocktails which were a nice touch too. A really wonderful evening, and I am so glad we chose to dine at our local.

We recently held our ‘happily ever after’ party at Balgarth following our elopement, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The staff were so welcoming the morning we arrived to set up — a lovely man and woman helped us move tables multiple times without complaint (I can be quite fussy!), and nothing was too much trouble. On the night of the party, the staff member working (I believe her name was Kristen or Kirsten) was so polite, professional and friendly. We even saw her again the next morning while collecting our decorations, and she was just as lovely. Martin, the owner, truly went above and beyond. He offered us drinks while setting up, and when we ended up staying longer than planned, he surprised us with complimentary Prosecco. He also made scrambled eggs for my friend’s young son — again, completely free — and took time to interact with him, which meant a lot. The next morning, after checking in to see how everything went, he even covered our breakfast in the beer garden, which was such a thoughtful gesture. The buffet was fantastic — we had so many compliments from guests and it was very reasonably priced for the quality and amount of food. The garden area was spotless and such a lovely space to enjoy the sun until 9pm. We also loved the idea of offering our guests a drink on arrival using tokens, which allowed them to choose their preferred drink — a brilliant suggestion from the staff! We genuinely couldn't have asked for a better venue or team. Everything was seamless, warm, and incredibly well looked after. Thank you so much to Martin and all the team at Balgarth for making our celebration so special.

This is the closest restaurant to me and so handy for travel etc. It's never quite perfect in regards of food and sometimes service, however over the last 2 occasions the food has been a let down. My biggest criticism is the insistence of management to have a large screen TV playing the daily news over and over..A few days ago whilst eating dinner,we were bombarded with images of Gaza being bombed, death and destruction in Ukraine and civil unrest in England. All you could hear ( whilst trying to enjoy dinner was people saying " oh look 56 dead today , including women and children" when I asked management if we had to listen to this and see the images whilst eating dinner, the reply was " I know but it's one of the only

Ayr Central is a covered shopping center that connects the Ayr Train Station and Ayr High Street. It has been around for over 15 years and features various UK-based stores catering to different interests such as fashion, fragrances, and toys. The pedestrian mall within the center provides a pleasant shopping experience. Some visitors have noted that one of the entrances seems neglected, but overall, it offers a good variety of shops and a nice atmosphere.

Nice, but small shopping spot. Needs additional PUBLIC toilets beyond the car park one that's been out of order for months. Handy place closed to city centre though.

This discount fashion chain is a treasure trove of clothing and accessories for all ages, along with an impressive selection of homewares. Located in Ayr, this store stands out for its well-stocked shelves and a relaxed shopping atmosphere that makes it easy to browse through the latest trends without feeling overwhelmed.
One of the best Primarks I've visited. Not too busy, very well stocked, and some absolute bargains to be had pretty much everywhere. There was something of an issue with the tills whereby things were running quite slowly, however there were announcements made over the tannoy to let customers know they were aware of the issue. Plenty of staff on hand & 2 managers running around too, helping out. Top marks for a good store.

Popped in for a couple of bits, 1 of the items didn't scan because of a issue with the product but the manager Daryl was really professional in explaining the situation and was very apologetic, the lady serving was uplifting too on a rather glum day in Ayrshire.

Located in the heart of Ayr, The Twa Dugs is a traditional Scottish pub that pays homage to Robert Burns and his famous 1789 poem featuring two dogs. The pub offers a wide selection of cask ales and rare malt whiskies, as well as other beverages. The establishment has an inviting atmosphere with a diverse clientele, including golfers and locals. Visitors can expect friendly service from knowledgeable staff.
Good pub. Guest ales. Won awards. Landlady Debbie is lovely. Mix of regulars and new pub goers. Busy Friday & Saturday. Holds events such as karaoke & a quiz. Had complementary pizza here during the fortnightly quiz. Not had other food. Dog friendly!

Great little traditional whisky pub. Love going to pubs that keeps their vibe. I ended up coming here pretty much every night of my stay for a nightcap. Was great to pop in briefly Wednesday afternoon to warn them I’m bringing a group and they confirmed we should have space. It’s a shame I couldn’t stay and listen to the locals jam, it was wonderful to hear briefly. Staff were lovely and friendly, up for a laugh. Just be aware one of them really doesn’t agree to ice being put into whisky.

We booked for lunch - 5 of us - on Sunday. Not only were we late but they had already decided to stop food in the pub section. They did let us have our food in the pub section so some of the group could have the ales they liked but the food was lush. I had the Scottish Tapas as I couldn’t choose a dish and the mince and tatties were amazing. Everyone really enjoyed their food and the prices were really decent. I only marked down one point on the atmosphere as the music got really loud and banging for relatively early on a Sunday and it didn’t seem to be hitting the spot with most of the other customers either lolz. Proper pub, proper pub food.

Like most of the pubs here, there's a quant historic back story to the slightly rundown local pub. Beers were cold, and in this case, the food was typically pub grub. Nice large portions

Customers appreciate the helpful and polite staff who are always ready to assist with purchases or queries. Visitors enjoy browsing through the Christmas goodies, home decorations, and a great range of bedding in the home department.
Good choice, some nice sale items too. Excellent for Christmas gifts that are different from your average high st supermarket. Debenham still has a bit of the old department store charm. 3 for 2 offers annoy me though. Would rather they discounted items individually. Will shop there again.

I loved this store its smaller than the Livingston store, but they've packed lots into it. Himself picked a smashing bright red jacket in the sale. I was so chuffed I paid for it as a crimbo gift. The ladies section is brilliant I could have tried the whole of the Wallis gear. I even got a freebie of Tiffany's new perfume be the only bottle Tiffany's I get. We had a great time in this shop the staff are very friendly and very helpful don't ever think it's an expensive shop cause it not, pop in for a look and you'll be hooked.

Well stocked with quality products and usually has good after Christmas sales. Loads of named brands. A more modern department store but there lies the problem. Department Store - their layout restricts movement and they seem designed to trap you like a mouse in an experimental shopping maze when there are a lot of customers. They person who comes up with a solution to having a nice attractive store together with a comfortable shopping experience at the same time will be onto a surefire winner.

Like similar stores, Debenhams seems to be set up to ensure it's hard to find what you're looking for. I don't want to search through multiple concessions to find what I'm after. Sort by garment type, not label! Fine for a browse, not so good if searching for something specific.

They've had a shocker here. Friday mid morning. This dark sludge was the bloody mary after the server firstly forgot to put any Worcester sauce (or so it seemed) , then proceeded to drown it with the stuff. Undrinkable. Never came near me once thereafter to ask how it was as it sat at the side my of my table untouched. Partner requested OJ and coffee. She forgot the OJ. Then when delivered, we git an orange squash. Despite being charged for fresh orange. Whilst still waiting for the food (the other reviews mentioning the show wait were spot on) I returned the undrinkable bloody Mary and got a bottle of beer, which was "comped". Food arrived, 40 minutes after we arrived. There were only two tables with customers. The omelette was "fine" apparently. Though a little greasy. The meridian spicy eggs were OK. Not sure what what a potato Scone nacho is other than a regular tattie scone cut in half. All the ingredients were decent, but didn't work as a combo. Eggs were overdone. All in all, utterly underwhelming.

Visited here on 2nd September for dinner and had an extremely disappointing experience! We ordered Steak pie with chips, Chicken Fajitas, Flat white coffee and a glass of water. Waited about 30 minutes for food to arrive, I tried one piece of the steak and instantly knew that this wasn’t right, tasted awful and tainted. Looked very dry with no gravy and there was a smell coming from it. Completely put me off. I could only eat the pastry, veg and a little of the chips. May I add the chips weren’t the usual ones that they usually serve, they were French fries. Further disappointment. I left all of the steak in the ashet it was served in due to the way it was, not edible and my partner gave me one of his Chicken Fajitas, this was okay although a lot of oil was present in the iron skillet which doesn’t usually happen either. Really could be doing with more cheese, salsa, sour cream and guacamole being served with these as not enough for the 3 wraps. For the money being charged at £18.95 it’s shocking. Food wasn’t served piping hot like it usually is either. Luke warm, usually the chicken Fajitas come sizzling hot which they weren’t. We have been coming here for over a decade and I have never felt the way we did at the visit. Waitress was kind although didn’t come over to ask if our food was okay. Once our plates were pushed to the edge of the table the waitress came over and upon picking up the plates I said that the steak pie doesn’t taste right at all and gave my reasons as above. She was very apologetic and said she would say to the chef. Came back and said sorry again and that she would take the drinks off but all the drinks were was a glass of water and flat white coffee so basically take £3.50 off! I said I wasn’t happy paying for the steak pie at £18.95 and my reasons why as stated above, also said all I ate was the puff pastry, veg and a little fries and wasn’t happy paying that price for it when the steak is the main component! I also asked if it was a different chef as I have never had a meal like it before here. Waitress replied well yes due to staff shortages the head chef was along at the sister business The Growler and that she didn’t like the dynamics either. The head chef is good but that’s all I’ll say there. In my eyes this just isn’t good enough, management shouldn’t have someone in the kitchen charging these prices if they aren’t competent enough. At the end of the day it’s the customer suffering due to this. Waitress said she would phone the head chef along the road to come down and see what he thought. Didn’t hear anything from the head chef or the so called chef but waitress came over to the table with the bill and said that the steak pie had been taken off the bill. Left a tip for the waitress as she was very apologetic but it shouldn’t have been her doing so. It has put me completely off this place now. If they haven’t got the right staff to do the job it shouldn’t be open. Very disappointed!

Had a great meal here of the set menu before 7 pm. It was really busy when we arrived but we were able to get a table. I had the nachos for starters, which was a big plateful. Loaded with plenty of topping, the tortilla chips were thicker than I had anywhere else, and as a result, the ones that have all the topping on them that normally go soggy did not here! Just as crisp. The lasagne was great too, really tasty. The chips that came with it were nice and crispy but still soft inside. The staff were all friendly and helpful. If I was back in Ayr I would be going back to The Meridian Cafe.

After being regular customers myself and the girls have always loved a few cocktails in the meridian. Unfortunately we will not be back. We went for a couple before heading for the train as we normally would, the place was very busy when we first arrived which was good to see. Waitress was straight over asking for our drinks order. Soon after we arrived a large party left and just as our drinks arrived the few other small groups left leaving only myself and my 2 friends left. We decided to have another drink and went to the bar and waited to be served. We were completely ignored by staff members who were mopping floors tidying up around us. My friend then asked if they were still serving to be told the bar staff were on a break…never took our order or offered to take our order when staff returned. It was made very obvious that they wanted us to leave and we assumed wanted to close early. Very disappointed as we should be treated the same whether there be 3 customers or 30! We will not be returning after this experience. They were more than happy to take our money when the place was busy then as soon as they everyone left it was made obvious they had no intention of serving us again. Very disappointed.

An absolute gem that we were so so lucky to find during our Scotland trip last week. The staff member that served us was so lovely and welcoming and informative. The chef's special was amazing and the whole vibe was so cosy and friendly. It was such a treat to had some real creative vegan food rather than the standard chain cafe offerings. We left after a week long visit just wishing we had come on a different day so we could have tried it all but unfortunately our visit overlapped all the other days that the cafe was closed. Ordered the gluten free fish & chips and mushy peas - first of all it's amazing to someone from the US that they have a dedicated 100% gluten-free frier that is clearly marked and staff were very friendly and aware of cross-contamination issues - they answered my questions & even showed me the frier. Fish was excellent - 10 out of 10, good quality fish, fried just right & light, crispy batter. Chips & peas also good. Very clean kitchen & seating area. Portion size was very big - picture below does not show all the fries.

7.95 for a portion of macaroni, which would have been fair enough if it wasn't a kids portion!! I'd have gave zero stars if I could have. I know prices have increased, but surely an adult portion is still warranted, I feel very ripped off and definitely won't be a return customer. To give a perspective on size, it's in a chip roll box and half the size of mu Greg's cake.

I had a fabulous meal here and the staff were super helpful and thoughtful in helping me surprise my daughter for lunch. They made my first meeting with my daughter's fiancé and my 4 month old granddaughter a day to remember. Cannot fault anything - the food was superb, the staff brilliant. I will definitely be back.

We were on holiday for my 60th birthday.. We passed this restaurant one evening before my birthday and noticed that there was Domes in the carpark, which were lite up with fairy lights.. My daughter's managed to book a Dome as a surprise for me, for a birthday meal... It was a magical experience that everyone enjoyed from my 10week old grandson (loved the twinkly fairy lights) to my 10 Yr old twin grandsons, to my 82nd Yr old mother 🥰... The food was excellent and such a massive choice of menus including Gluten Free/Vegan and children's menu.. The portion sizes are on the large side (for all menus) We enjoyed our experience so much we booked 2 days later (to eat in the restaurant) for our 39th wedding anniversary meal. Both of our experiences were wonderful and the Staff went above and beyond on both occasions... Every person in my group would highly recommend this venue especially if you are looking for something special (or even just for a meal).. The cost is very reasonable especially for the quality of the meals and the quantity.. If you are in Ayr, I definitely recommend that you give The Fox & Willow a try.. you won't be disappointed ☺️..

Out walking and popped in for an impromptu coffee. Looked lovely and the sun was shining so we decided to have breakfast in one of their outdoor domes . Oh boy it was worth it. Had the shakshuka breakfast eggs and it was sublime. Lovely attentive and friendly girls which always helps. Cannot fault this is any way. 10/10. Thank you.

Really beautiful setup with the dome dining options. All staff were super helpful and accommodating when we recently visited to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary. Great menu with lots of imaginative vegan options, including multiple dessert options too which is much appreciated.

Food and service was good as usual, although the person was with wasn't as keen on their meal, sauce was too creamy and rich which stopped her from finishing it. Menu wasn't as eye catching as it can be. Some menus you struggle with choosing, other times I feel like I'm stuck with only a couple of options I fancy. Obviously that is just down to personal tastes though and the fact I'm usually there for a lunch so not wanting steaks and stuff then.
Steven W — Google review
We came here for my Dad's surprise birthday and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. The food was amazing and they moved us to one of the pods which are so pretty. They sorted our birthday cake for us and helped with the surprise and honestly helped make the night so lovely, really grateful x

The Marks and Spencer supermarket is a great place to find clothes for all occasions, from dressy trousers to comfortable joggers. The store can be very crowded, but it's worth it if you can beat the crowds and get a good deal.

A good shop with lots of variety available , nicely laid out store. The building itself is a little tired looking inside, but then again, it is an older building that couldn't be easily renovated . The staff are friendly, the items are of good quality , perfect for homewares, shoes , clothing etc. They have a foodstore within, too, which is always of excellent quality produce . I get all of my meat from m&S stores recently as its better quality ans is easier to buy for a smaller household, thr packs of two lamb leg steaks are great, the chicken isn't sinudey, and the dayces and puddings are of good quality .

All staff encountered in both the shop and the cafe were friendly and helpful. In particular, the manager who dealt with our query (Ms Little?) was most helpful. A very positive shopping experience all round!

Performing arts theater
The Gaiety Theatre, located in the heart of Ayrshire, is a historic and vibrant venue offering a variety of entertainment including drama, dance, music, and comedy. It consists of both main and studio theatres where visitors can enjoy live performances throughout the year. After facing closure in 2009, the theatre was successfully revived with support from local and national government as well as a dedicated team of staff and volunteers. The volunteer community plays a crucial role in the theater's operations.
Loved it. The seating in the galleries is tight, but otherwise an excellent venue. Volunteers are lovely, friendly, welcoming and helpful. A real Ayrshire cultural asset.

What a pretty theatre built in 1902 the interior is amazing. We attended Antiques & little bit of nonsence evening with presenters of Bargain Hunt. A excellent evening & very funny, the presenters where lovely. After the show they all came into the foyer to thank people for coming along & very happy to have their photo's taken with anyone who wanted one. A brilliant evening.

First visit to The Gaiety but won't be the last. Had a fantastic night. Staff were brilliant. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Bowie Experience was amazing. Had the place rocking. Loved every minute ❤️ Beautiful theatre 💗
Cathy D — Google review
Staff very friendly/attentive, toilets nice & clean, and the bar has a well stocked selection. The only issue I experienced was at the start of the evening. Someone else was in my seat when I arrived, a15. A staff member must have noticed this & came down to the front row to speak to this person, but in the process accidentally tipped my drink that I had beside me. I'm not sure if the chair thief played dumb or pretended not to hear anything said, but nothing else was done in regards to this matter. I remained three seats down from the one I booked. As for the spilled drink..the bar staff gave me a replacement free of charge 👍

Just seen The Girl on the Train performed by Ayr Fort Players at Ayr Gaiety Theatre. A wonderfully emotive drama and acted out to perfection by all cast members. Congratulations to everyone involved in putting it all together. I would thoroughly recommend seeing this play. All the actors were so believable and there were some very emotional scenes. Go and see it.
Alan W — Google review
The Gaiety is comfortable and easy to access as someone who has mobility issues. There were plenty of staff around to ask for help if you were to need it. The toilet facilities were clean and looked well maintained, also enough to allow for everyone to go to the loo, get a drink and get back to their seats in the 15 minute interval.

Ideal soft play for young children. Has everything for a fun few hours. Food is good and an extensive menu on offer. Great fresh coffee and ice creams too. Staff are friendly and helpful even when it gets super busy and chaotic. There are 2 floors, upstairs, a bit calmer. Busy and noisy but still enjoyable even on a bank holiday.

Soft play area Is fantastic for all ages , we use to go every year both of my sons have autism but was very disappointed in the boss! I explained to him that my oldest son has autism, he has no understanding of what it means by age appropriate for certain parts of play areas! I was with my son at all times! The man was very harsh towards me with no compassion whatsoever, even the parents felt sorry for me and couldn’t believe the way he treated me son, and yes i do know that there is signs there for a reason as my youngest son was aware of the signs! but because my oldest son who has complex needs and no understanding of signs what so ever , the boss should have some kind of compassion And understanding! I never had any bother before in pirate Pete’s before as I did always explain to staff members and they were very good! food was very expensive £6 for two slices of toast! Quite disappointed I don’t think I’ll go back!

Out for a walk along Aye beach with my friend and stopped by for coffee and cake. Very nice. Friendly service and staff.
Annette J — Google review
Outrageously expensive, especially when compared with Kids Play in Prestwick, 2 miles away. £24 for two children to play for 2 hours is iniquitous and I shan't be returning at those over-inflated prices. The food is also rather on the expensive side. Go to Kids Play Prestwick instead.
The W — Google review
It’s ok but very expensive. £12 for 1 kid for soft play! £2 for a wee bottle of water. Airport prices. Folk must be minted.

The family-owned restaurant on Seafield Road has received over 400 'excellent' reviews for its food, service, atmosphere, and decor.
Been a while since last visit. This is a fabulous restaurant with great sea views over to Arran. It is situated at the south end of Ayr Beach. Its on the first floor of a sixties style building the food is excellent on a varied menu.I would like to make special mention of the service received tonight which was really wonderful. Prompt, friendly and helpful with menu questions.Thank you Ayr India for a great dining experience. 🤗

The food was amazing .. everything ordered was up to expectations. Except the spiced tea at the end, which was quite light and watery and would have been nicer if it was heavier. The atmosphere lacked anything to do with an Indian cuisine which is a shame as the Indian theme is absolutely beautiful and attractive. Would still go again and try other things in the menu. Prices were a bit towards to the high end but worth it for a good meal.
Nasreen A — Google review
It is a very expensive restaurant in Ayr near to the beach. The vegetable curry is one of the worst I've had. Pakora didn't look fresh, and the garnish was embarrassing. The dips also seemed a bit watered down. The spice onions were ok. Chicken tikka was enjoyed by the party as was the nan bread. Although we felt the curry sauce was also a bit too watery. The young girls working there put the effort in. The main hostess seemed a bit too overconfident and had many questions to ask, overstepping by asking what we do for employment. Drinks seemed flat and suspected out of 2 litre bottles. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it. Everyone has their own preference and tastes, etc. It wasn't worth the drive from Glasgow. £95 seemed steep as no alcohol included, nor was it x4 two course meals either, but paying that price it should be exceptional. On this occasion, it wasn't. The view of the beach is nice, plenty of parking available. So disappointed.

Kay M — Google review
Fantastic everything... just too over priced. 3 Normal starters, 3 normal mains, no rice's, 1 naan, 2 chapati, 3 mango lassi, no other drinks... £113.00 We nearly ordered coffee, no wee chocolate or biscoff offering on the side just felt a step too far for what we paid. The family owners are wonderful, the waiting staff Fantastic, all the food was really good.... the view is Magnificent.. It still doesn't add up though. I certainly will be back and having been a few times before I was aware of the costs... I don't mind paying big money for anything. Value doesn't quite hit the mark.
Richard C — Google review
Food was very expensive but the portions were small ,and awful taste. We had to send a starter back as it was not fresh and smelly. Too much food colour in everything and not fresh at all. The only thing that was fresh naan.
Naresh K — Google review
When you eat out, the food is obviously the most important thing, and at Ayr India, the food is superb. What makes it it even more special is the friendly welcome, attentive service, and magnificent views of the Firth of Clyde.

First time here and won’t be back. Food and service were ok but the cleanliness is very poor wee we’re in a booth and I looked down side of the seat and it was disgusting very dirty. Table had been wiped with something leaving marks all over it. My daughter and I went to toilet and could not believe our eyes they were terrible soo dirty cobwebs everywhere ceiling vents were full of fluff and dust and toilets there self were covered it toilet roll on toilet seat and floors. I wish I had went to the toilet first cause I would never have eaten here. Sorry but this cleanliness is not good enough.
Natalie T — Google review
Went for a pre theatre dinner and two of us ordered balmoral chicken. When cutting into it we noticed it was raw and informed the owner of the cafe. He took the plates away and returned saying it was “well underdone” and chef should have carved the chicken and he would have seen this himself. He offered to cook another but we declined and went for macaroni cheese as a safe bet. Macaroni was okay but a bit bland. Whilst waiting for macaroni we noticed a gentleman also being served chicken which he then proceeded to send back! Why wouldn’t they have checked his before sending out when ours had just been returned to kitchen?! We then ordered sticky toffee pudding and this was a bit stale and stodgy as though it had been made a couple of days prior. We left our dessert and went on to see the show. Must admit the owner handled it well, apologised and gave us 10% off bill. We used to love coming here for dinner, don’t know what’s happened but the chef is going to get the place shut down! Such a shame it’s gone downhill.

My daughter took me to a Neil diamond tribute and had booked this restaurant too before hand? Ordered fish and chips for both of us? Didn’t want to complain because my daughter had booked it, but she asked me to complain? The “ chips” we’re batter bits left over at the end of the cooking night, no potato in them and our forks could not cut through the tiny bits? Sent it back and was replaced by even worse “ chips”!!! Never been so disappointed by a meal. The plate came swimming in grease which tasted off? Waitress said they where having issues with it and to add to insult, charged us for 2 waters( Awful) wish I had taken photos

We had breakfast last Sunday, it was wonderful I had the eggs Benedict with maple bacon and a tea ( 3 cups in the pot ) and the wife had the small fry up. Great Update Popped in for lunch, smoked salmon and prawn salad (wow oh wow ). The ham toastie was perfect. A portion of dirty fries just topped it off.
Peter M — Google review
This restaurant used to be really good but it really has went down hill, getting coffee in a cup that has lip stick on it from a previous customer, then the food order the cajan chips and you lose any sense of taste since there was so much seasoning, then there was the staff who missed the memo about smiling and welcoming to customers

Whenever my family is in town, we’re regulars at C51. We love their coffees, the friendly people, and their scones. Recently tried the apple cinnamon, treacle, and plain scones—each has been absolutely amazing. They are made fresh, so have the perfect texture and pair wonderfully with butter and jam.

Local favourite. Great choice of food at any time of day and good quality. Decent portion sizes. Can be very busy, even on a Monday morning, which can sometimes make the place feel quite crowded and cramped, depending on where you are seated, though better than no atmosphere. At peak times you can be looking at a short wait for a table. Staff are friendly and attentive. Bills are paid at the counter which can be crowded at times as they also do fantastic takeaway selections. Also has free WiFi and in the drier months, there's the option to sit at tables out front. From a personal perspective the only downside is lack of parking though many just seem to park outside along the main road.

Ayr Racecourse, located in Ayr, Scotland, has been hosting horse racing events since its opening in 1907. It is known for hosting fixtures like the annual Scottish Grand National. The racecourse offers both flat and National Hunt racing courses and hosts various race meets throughout the year. In addition to horse racing, the venue also hosts the Ayr County Show which features exhibitions and competitions of animals, trade stands, crafts, entertainment for families including music and children's activities.
Good weather, party atmosphere & able to get close to the horses. Plenty of places to bet. Security was good. Bar service was quick, staff friendly & quick cleaning tables. Good food options too. We even got on TV as the camera panned across the parade of horses!! Excellent work ITV :-)

Went for ladies day! Negatives were Ticket collection point wasn’t ready for gates open time allowing queues to build up, disappointingly. No cash point on the site Exterior of grandstand looking shabby & clock not working Positives polite stewarding staff and very well staffed keeping site tidy and litter free Positive

Very nice race course, plenty of space. Staff on the gate were very pleasant & helpful, pointed me in the right direction to find who I was looking for. I can't say how long you'd have to wait for tickets as I wasn't there for the racing. There for another event.

Good racing venue but starting to look a bit run down. Today the food options were poor but bar was well staffed

Quiet Monday afternoon so a good experience but wouldn't go on a busy gold cup day as I suspect parking and viewing could be problematic.

Good wee day out, just in the grandstand with my 10yr old son for his first time at the races and he loved it, thought staff were very pleasant and the toilets were immaculate

Prestwick St. Cuthberts golf course, located in Prestwick, offers a parkland setting that caters to both low and high handicappers seeking a relaxing round. Despite being set inland from the sea, the course still presents a few doglegs and challenging greens. Its variety of holes and well-maintained greens make it appealing for golfers of all skill levels. The clubhouse provides excellent amenities, including a good menu with reasonable prices.

Lovely course well maintained, quite a few dog legs ,good variety of holes ,will return . Excellent club house with pleasant staff ,lovely views of the 18th hole.
David L — Google review
Disappointed with the course at £40 a round. Greens were very slow and the course was very wet due to recent rainfall. Plenty of wide fairways, and some good holes but sadly all us were of the same opinion that it wasn't that exciting and not worth £40. Glad we didn't the normal rate of £60 2nd hole had a temporary green with a flag and the grass hadn't even been cut !!! Nice clubhouse with lovely staff and good lunchtime food
Steven D — Google review
Prestwick Golf Club isn’t just a course—it’s a statement. This is where the Open Championship was born, and stepping onto its grounds feels like stepping into golf’s original arena. If you’re looking for polished luxury and pristine modernity, go elsewhere. If you want history, quirks, and character, Prestwick delivers. Located on Scotland’s Ayrshire coast, Prestwick doesn’t try to be something it’s not. It leans into its old-school roots. The clubhouse is classic, with all the tradition you'd expect—wood-paneled walls, artifacts from golf’s early days, and the kind of quiet pride that doesn’t need to boast. You know where you are. The course itself is wild in the best way. Prestwick is not about symmetry or predictability. It’s a 6,500-yard maze of blind shots, rumpled fairways, hidden bunkers, and eccentric design choices that would never make it past a modern architect. But that’s the charm. The 1st hole starts with a tee shot over a stone wall—a bold opening that sets the tone. The 3rd hole, “Cardinal,” is iconic, with a massive, menacing bunker that forces you to think three shots ahead. Then there’s the 17th, “Alps,” which has you hitting blind over a towering dune to a green you can’t see. It’s maddening and brilliant. Prestwick is short by modern standards, but don’t let that fool you. It demands precision, not power. It punishes poor strategy and rewards creativity. You’ll need to think your way around the course, adapt to the wind, and make peace with a few odd bounces. The condition of the course is excellent, but not in a sterile, over-manicured way. The greens are true, the fairways tight, and the fescue rough is no joke if you stray too far. There’s an authenticity to the terrain—you feel like this is how golf is meant to be played, shaped by nature, not machines. Service is professional without being overbearing. The staff respects the game and expects you to do the same. There’s no flash, just substance. It’s worth mentioning that Prestwick is a private club with limited visitor tee times, so you’ll need to plan ahead. But if you can get on, it’s worth every effort. Prestwick isn’t perfect, and it doesn’t try to be. Some holes are quirky to the point of confusion, and if you’re not into blind shots, you might get frustrated. But that’s part of the deal. This is golf from another era, and it challenges you to meet it on its terms. In a world where many courses chase the same slick, formulaic design, Prestwick stands alone. It’s a course that embraces its history, quirks, and identity without compromise. For golfers who value the soul of the game over style points, it’s a must-play. Rating: 9/10 For pure golf history, strategic challenge, and character, Prestwick is hard to beat. It’s not modern, but that’s the point.

someone i know ordered a package and it arrived late as their delivery driver played golf here instead of delivering the package. i do not recommend this place i think it should be shut down. (this is a joke)
HI — Google review
I was looking forward to playing here as I've played other courses in the area in the past, but I was sadly left really disappointed with the condition of the course. The tee beds are badly damaged and a mess the fairways are also full off divots that haven't been repaired and then the worst part of the game was the condition of the greens, they were terrible. I don't know how the club keeps its members if the course is in this bad of a condition especially in the summer months. Sorry to say but I wouldn't be rushing back anytime soon to play here again.

Cantonese restaurant
Chinese restaurant
Ruby 7 Days in Sandgate is a Chinese restaurant located at The Waterfront on South Harbour. It offers a pleasant dining experience with a patio that overlooks the water leading to the sea. If you're craving Cantonese cuisine, this place is worth trying. Additionally, Ayr India is another option if you're in the mood for curry.
A group of us (6) all had fantastic meals in here tonight. And we enjoyed the traditional Chinese service. I don’t live in Ayr but, if I did this would definitely be my local - I gave it a 4/5 for atmosphere - as it was quiet however, we bring our own atmosphere. And hopefully after this review it gets busier as it certainly deserves to be. People don’t realise the real gems 💎 they have on their doorsteps. And we must support them to keep our streets alive. Thanks 🙏 for a great meal and keep up the great work 😄👍❤️

I don't throw out 5 star reviews at all, however on this occasion 5 stars is well deserved. Spot on service, clean and appealing and courses brought out quickly. Excellent 2 course meal, £20 per person for 2 courses with 2 drinks. Delightful House Specials. Highly recommended

Really disappointed. Reading reviews we were swayed away from our regular Chinese but unfortunately wont be back. Asked for no veg in special fried rice but spring onions over the top, now with someone who is autistic it is hard to then convince them to eat it even when picked off. Ordered a chicken curry and rice but was given a chicken fried rice which looked horrible. Ribs were not very appetising either. Called to get correct chicken curry sent out but was advised could be up to 45 minutes when already waited an hour for order to be sent incorrectly. For the price, there is definitely takeaways in the area that provide better food and a cheaper price also.

The spring rolls and BBQ ribs we had to start were very good, nice spicy dipping sauce. Sweet and Sour Chicken Hong Kong Style and Szechuan Chicken, both with rice to follow were perfect. Best we have had in a long time. Tea and coffee was basic but adequate. We will be back.

Pandora is a jewelry chain that offers a wide range of accessories such as necklaces, rings, and customizable charm bracelets. However, it's important not to confuse it with the coffee house and bistro called Pandora located across from the Town Hall in Ayr town center. This establishment has been around since the 1960s and originally had a gift shop downstairs. The place exudes an old-world charm with its decor dating back to the 1920s.
Took my daughter at the weekend for lunch and the place was bustling and lively. The staff were extremely friendly and gave my daughter some amazing colouring in books and pens and crayons to play with and the food wasn't bad either. Would definitely recommend.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Love their coffee it's not too bitter as some are and is perfect paired with their caramel cup, just the right amount of sweetness. The toilet is a bit of a hike up the stairs but it's clean and fresh.

Was in today and picked the French onion soup .Sadly it wasn’t nice at all .Also the service was lacking a bit as well. When the waitress eventually decided to come to our table as I had to ask her for the bill ,I said my soup was very sweet and I got a mouthful of something grainy and disgusting I left it on n the side plate for her to see obviously I only ate a quarter of it..She agreed that French onion was sweet and said oh that’s buillion that hasn’t been mixed properly and left .🤷🏻Not a sorry or anything and it cost me over £6 for a quarter plate of soup.

Like stepping into the past. This establishment has existed on new bridge St. since the 1920's Staff were really friendly and helpful. I just popped in looking for coffee and a cake. This place is classy. The original back room is a sight worth seeing. The decor is amazing. Flat White Coffee was served in a good sized cup which was nice to see for a change. The Scones, of which there is a selection are Monster, really huge. I had a fruit one with jam and butter. Really delicious. The place has a small frontage, so look out for it and dont pass it by like i have done on several occasions before. They have lots of other goodies in store for you ,all at reasonable prices ,so no big extra prices for the delightful atmosphere in which you enjoy your hearts desire.

The Lang Scots Mile, located on the beachfront of Ayr, is a tribute to Robert Burns' famous poem "Tam O'Shanter." This scenic walkway was inspired by the Scottish mile mentioned in the poem and spans the seafront, offering locals and visitors an opportunity for healthy exercise. The area near Burns' birthplace in Alloway has been renamed to honor this connection.
Scots mile is ayr beach and is the mile walk.end to end. Has large grass area (low green) and 2 public toilets 30p one next to kids playground which is great play area for kids and one at other end next to Ayr India restaurant.

Lovely little glass house on the grounds of Belleisle Estate. Really good cactus display! Lots of interesting plants. Signs of small plants being propagated and a few for sale. I would have said 5 stars but there are a lot of plants in plastic pots which look bought in, chrysanthemums etc., maybe just to fill the gaps. Otherwise very nice and we'll worth a visit. Free entry! There is also a fine walked garden and paths for a wander through the trees.

Electric Brae, located on the A179 south of Ayr, is a unique stretch of road where cars appear to defy gravity. When left in neutral, vehicles seem to roll uphill due to the peculiar slope of the surrounding hillside. This phenomenon has made Electric Brae a popular tourist attraction. Visitors are advised not to exit their vehicles while experiencing this illusion.
A strange place, this hill confuses people. Water appears to run uphill, cars roll uphill. All a strange optical illusion

Visited the spot where your car goes up the hill when on neutral gear. It is an optical illusion where the road is down the hill but you think it’s up the hill hence the confusion. Please note that you have to be super careful when stopping as the traffic will be passing.

The Electric Brae is a gravity hill in South Ayrshire, Scotland, where a freewheeling vehicle will appear to be drawn uphill by some mysterious attraction. It's just an optical illusion caused by the shape of the hills, but it's a really good one!

Stop on the brae facing south as in the picture, with stone inscription on your left. You get a better effect. I was driving north towards Ayr and effect wasn't so good. Glad I turned around and came back for 2nd shot, and much better.
Arnietwo — Google review
While I wished I'd walked here rather than driven, experiencing the Brae was a little bit of fun on a great day out. As a bonus the road leading to/from it is a lovely drive, commanding amazing views of the bay and nearby castle. Was I stunned, shocked or abducted by aliens during my visit? No, but all the same it was great to experience something a little bit unusual (and free!) during my visit to this incredible region of Scotland.

Willie Wastles Sports Bar & Restaurant is a spacious and welcoming place with a clean and well-presented atmosphere. The staff are incredibly accommodating, making everyone feel welcome, even those who aren't sports fans. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced, with knowledgeable servers who can provide information about gluten-free options. Additionally, the bar offers exceptional value for both food and drinks, with friendly staff members who go the extra mile to ensure a pleasant experience for guests.

Tried Willie Wastles for the first time a few days ago, overall honestly not to bad. Service and atmosphere are excellent. Lamb Shank was cooked beautifully, I loved how generous the sauce with it is. However, the Steak Pie Gravy was extremely salty and the two friends i was with couldnt really eat a lot of it due to that. Also, I could have sworn the mashed potatoe served with the Lamb Shank was out a cheap packet and not made in the kitchen. It had no flavour and no texture whatsoever. Overall though, the Lamb was beautiful that I had. Not bad at all, better than most for a Lamb dinner.

Really good food, woman who served us was excellent. Very knowledgeable about ingredients in all dishes and which ones were gluten free, never once said she didn’t know, she would need to check which was very refreshing. Whether you’re craving freshly brewed teas or coffees, they have it all! The atmosphere is lively yet welcoming, making it perfect for any occasion.
Always have the best time here. Atmosphere is great, such a cool interior and good music. Staff are lovely, Megan in particular is so nice I feel like a minor celeb the way I'm greeted tbh. Food is great, big portions. Lots of good events on like open mic, quizzes and stuff. Never a bad night out here whether it's just for food or a proper night out. 💕

I have been coming with friends for the quiz nights for just over a month and its such a great night out. Really nice venue with a cracking beer garden area. Staff are all lovely, friendly and welcoming. Drinks reasonably prices too. Havent tried the food yet but it always looks and smells delicious. It is down a rather steep set of concrete steps which would be the only drawback but it adds to the character of the venue and it really stands out, always have the best night here

We have a tradition before the whisky festival every year we eat and have a few drinks at the smoking goat. Absolutely love the atmosphere, the drinks and meal are amazing and very very reasonably priced. Waiter was fantastic. This tradition will continue as we couldn't ask for a better place to be before we get full of whisky. Update - As tradition we booked here for our meal and a few drinks before the whisky festival. We booked at 1pm. After we were shown to our seats we waited on drinks and food order. After 15 mins we went and ordered drinks ourselves. When we received our drinks we ordered our food. Unfortunately this is where the service was poor. We were assured a few times our food wouldn't be long. But after 50 mins wait we decided to leave. As we were leaving our food was being brought out. We explained we were leaving due to the wait and was told they had 150 people booked in hense the delay. I'm sorry but that's not our issue. You are a restaurant. If yous can't cope then don't allow that many bookings. We were compensated for our wait which is fine. Food was delicious I can't fault it as usual. But very disappointed in the service. So we have came to the agreement that we will book somewhere else next year.

Anna H — Google review
I used to enjoy coming here regularly but I’m pretty much done. There are issues that show the owner’s priorities and it’s had a negative effect of the business. The owner’s decision to half the portion sizes of food, while keeping the same price shows me that they only care about the money, and not the business itself, as does the decision not to remove items from the menu that haven’t been available for months. Pros: The place itself is really fantastic, I love the exposed walls and beams, the basement location means no direct sunlight so it’s nice and cool in summer. The both in the alcove feels nice and private, everyone’s favourite table! The staff are so friendly and helpful, there are so many creative cocktails, and the bar staff are happy to make a delicious mocktail. The quality of the food is excellent, I love the chicken and chorizo waffle with maple syrup, and there are amazing gluten-free options. There is always soap in the bathrooms. Cons: The prices have stayed the same but the portion sizes have halved, and in some cases the portion is now less than half of what it was, but the price has stayed the same. The menu continues to claim that there’s a soup and cheesecake of the day - there hasn’t been for months but for some reason the owners won’t print new menus - and given the now ridiculously high priced menu, they can definitely afford to reprint. There are no period products in the female bathroom and not all of the stalls in the female bathrooms have bins.

McDonald's is a well-known fast-food chain famous for its burgers and fries. Customers often stop by for cold milkshakes, ice cream, and quick snacks. Anemic hash brown absolutely dripping in grease. It's much paler than the picture shows. Picture with napkin touched against it for 2 seconds shows the fat coming off it. Either your fat isn't warm enough or it's just been dipped in fat. Gross.

Ordered a few items to dine in, initially noticed a mc crispy missing after a minute noticed another large fries missing. Staff are not even considering the customers though I’m standing in front of them. Don’t recommend this branch

Only had a coffee, dining area clean with no messy tables, order came quickly after ordering in the machine, staff serving were friendly.

Great location and parking. Everything was clean as well as the loos. Food was good, as you would expect. Everyone was friendly and it was obviously a local hub for the neighborhood and local groups. Had a great feel to it.

The last few times been to Ayr at least 1 item missing. Tonight a share box all 4 dips missing. Last time chips missing. Fruit bag missing. Fruitshoot missing. All this and only ordering for 2 people. Sat n watched at least another 6 people when I sat in with missing items. Please get staff to double check orders. Be a shame to stop going. Also seen a woman report 3 young neds shouting at her. Reported to staff member they told another staff member who then got a manager. Who then served someone while the lady was clearly in distress. Then the 3 neds got picked up and the manager walked outside just as they got into a car. Told the lady nobody was there. I stepped in and told the manager what happened. Almost 10 mins from reported to actwent outside. Felt for the woman she was I'd say late 50s. Even inside I was challenged by youths when asked to stop shouting and swearing. Staff tried to stop them running into the back of the shop but the shy smiles approach to move them didn't work as was just laughed at by them. Stop neds just sitting in hanging about in groups. Rant over!!!
Ryan K — Google review
The culinary experience was markedly substandard. The double cheeseburger, despite its nomenclature, was served with merely a single slice of cheese, thereby failing to meet basic expectations. Additionally, the Big Mac ordered with extra cheese arrived entirely devoid of cheese, suggesting a significant lapse in attention to order specifications. These recurring oversights raise concerns regarding staff training and literacy in order processing. Furthermore, the demeanor of managerial staff appeared notably unwelcoming, with repeated instances of hostile or disapproving gazes, implying that the act of placing an order was perceived as an imposition rather than a routine customer interaction.

Cecchini's Italian restaurant is a beautiful and stylish place where you can enjoy authentic Tuscan cuisine and Scottish burgers. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is excellent - would definitely recommend!
Beautiful restaurant 😍 First time trying here and it was not disappointing we got the 2 courses for £17.95 and it was worth it and great choices 👌 The food was delicious to busy enjoying it i never managed to get pics of everything 😅 the staff were very polite and attentive the restaurant felt very romantic and cosy , was a lovely dinner date with my husband 😊

Lovely little Italian restaurant. Though is interesting as I don’t know whether it’s because they had a bit of a Scottish twist or region. Food was tasty, staff were lovely, atmosphere good and buzzing as the evening came. Have to say it was the first time I’ve had a garlic baguette that had been flattened into flat bread. Though still liked the texture!

“Absolutely delicious! Every time I’m in Ayr by the seaside, my family and I always go here – we’ve even brought many of our friends along. It’s become our little tradition to come here after a day at the beach. The staff is perfect, the place is beautiful, and the food is absolutely amazing. Highly recommend!!!

Overall Thoughts: in Ayr Scotland for a High School Field Trip. Obviously as an American we LOVE Pizza. We had some time before touring a museum and needed some lunch! The restaurant is a block from the coast.…so the view was nice. I’d give this place a 4.8 out of 5. Friendly staff, great food, great atmosphere! 1. Restaurant Type: Italian 2. Coke Or Pepsi: NA 3. Ketchup Type: NA 4. Price/Value: affordable 5. Atmosphere: Nice & Italian 6. Food Quality: Good Quality 7. Service: Friendly Staff 8. Parking: NA 9. Must Haves: pizza & mozzarella sticks. Gorgeous meal with great service. There is an offer on if you arrive early which we missed but still found their prices reasonable and the food was delicious. Friendly service throughout our time here. We ordered Italian sausage penne pasta, lasagna and a portion of garlic bread. Plus Honeycomb cheesecake to share as a dessert and a macciato coffee. Would definitely recommend

Fantastic food! Travel to Ayr a lot yet this is my first time trying here. I believe that's due to the exterior of the restaurant but that was a poor judgement on my part. Inside is lovely decor, great atmosphere and food is fantastic and such friendly attentive staff.. Will definitely be back.

Great food. Staff were very friendly and we were able to enjoy a leisurely meal and catch up with family.

Visited my sister who recently moved to Ayr and went for an evening meal with 3 in the party. Pre-booked the table. All had a starter and main course with alcoholic drinks and calypso coffees. Food was excellent and the service provided by Francis was first class. I do enjoy restaurant staff that are open to a bit of banter and Fancis did not disappoint. Will definitely be a booking whenever in Ayr.

Nature & Parks
Rozelle Estate is a breathtaking 37-acre haven nestled in South Ayrshire, making it a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Ayr. This enchanting estate boasts an array of attractions, including a museum and art gallery, all set against the backdrop of stunning country grounds. Nature enthusiasts will delight in the diverse wildlife that calls this park home, with birds like collared doves and blue tits flitting about among the lush woodlands.
Nice place for a day out. There is an art gallery with paintings for sale or just to see. Hungry? Grab a nice light lunch at the tea room. Very tasty sandwiches, wraps, or paninis. And the cakes are amazing, with specialty teas and coffee. Go for a long or short walk and take in the sights at the scenic park. Feed the squirrels and birds and see some of the art displayed on the grounds.

A lovely estate and house. An exhibition of Tam O'Shanter, military items and a massive post card collection. A tea room has delicious food served by great staff. Disabled parking by the front door and a lift. Easiest to enter the lift by the back through the Court yard. There are some interesting very old trees. A visit is recommended.

Beautiful place, I had a great time with my friend. We went on Sunday, the restaurant wasn't busy so we walked in. The pasta was really good. If you like to have afternoon tea book it before a day.

Rozelle Park situated in South Ayr is a beautiful public park that is well worth a visit. The park has a museum and art galley that is free to enter. The park has many wicker and stone sculptures in the museum gardens, The crowning glory of the park is the remembrance garden that has many wood carvings of the first and second world wars.

Golf club
Belleisle Golf Course is one of two 18-hole courses located within the picturesque Belleisle Country Park. The course, designed by James Braid, offers a fair yet challenging test of golfing skills. The recently opened clubhouse features a pro shop, golf simulator, and cafe for a complete experience. The estate also boasts walled gardens, a conservatory, and large play areas for children.
We wanted a golf course to play whilst campervanning in Scotland , weather permitting. We were able to book in at Belleisle Golf course , big Thanks to Sally at reception and huge big Thanks to Richard , runs the pro shop, we were able to hire clubs, trolleys & bought balls . He very helpful , threw in an electric trolley for me. The weather mostly did the right thing but this is Scotland and can change frequently , we did have a couple passing showers, but that's part of golf ⛳️. The picturesque course is nicely laid out with smooth & true greens. We both thoroughly enjoyed our game and experience here. The green fees and hireage were very reasonable. Would be happy to come back and play again , if your a golfer and travelling through Scotland can recommend the Belleisle and Royal Troon / Prestwick courses are just up the road . Big tick from a couple of kiwi's

Lovely course great condition green fast as it had been dry But would like to see someone going around the course and cleaning up the broken tees hundreds of them when I played .
Gordon T — Google review
Excellent course, good condition and decent cafe to have a bite to eat after.
Lawrence C — Google review
A lovely course. One criticism - as first-time visitors it would have been helpful to have the next tee signposted along with numbered tee boxes. This would be a simple and cheap improvement that would make a big difference to anyone new to the course.

Belisle and seafield golf courses. There's two 18 hole golf courses here in midst of Bellisle country park. Clubhouse has golf pro shop and cafe for meals. Bellisle course being the harder of the 2 courses. Large estate which also has deer and childrens large play area. Walled gardens and conservatory for a family day out.

Visited subway 2 men working could not care less. Ordered a 6 inch sub asked for all salad and got a small amount of lettuce. Also got a turkey salad that barely covered the bottom of the box. Guy had attitude when getting a fork for my salad. Not cheap at £9.37 for these item's. Won't go back to this branch

Small place and sometimes gets too crowded to the point where you can't open the door. Badly designed, with tables almost right against the door and people trying to queue up between these. Staff are nice. Food as in any Subway.

I haven't been in subway for years but will definitely go again soon, as i really enjoyed the foot long sandwich, but wasn't very impressed with the dispenser drinks would have preferred a bottle.
WiFi B — Google review
Quick and cordial service, as is the standard for Ayr's Subway outlets; the reasoning for the 3*rating falls exclusively to the fact that its just so cramped that there s hardly any room to stand bck up again once uve taken ur seat if thers a queue.

During my recent trip to Ayr, I finally had the chance to dine at Saffy's Bistro, a vibrant and stylish brasserie that has quickly become a local favorite. Known for its creative Mediterranean and global cuisine, this bustling eatery was packed even late in the evening. The atmosphere buzzed with energy as diners savored dishes crafted from fresh local ingredients.
A small establishment by one of the corners by Dalblair road. Cosy and warm interior , great atmosphere for small gatherings and meet up with friends. Great hospitality from the staffs too. A great variety of dishes on the menu with a taste of global fusion. It’s certainly a place to try while you’re in Ayr.

A wonderful family run bistro with relaxed informal dining, a wide selection of high quality food at great prices perfect for vegetarians or meat eaters. Great fish dishes as well. Booking recommended as this place is very popular.

Popped in in Saturday and luckily got a seat as it was busy. The staff were lovely, polite and happy. The food was really nice and price was reasonable. This is first iv been in a few years but will definitely be back again.

Delicious food which was fairly priced and enjoyed but all. There were clean plates all round! I was part of a party of 5 and the service was too slow - we were there for 90 minutes and only had time for mains. The table next to us were given the dessert menu at the same time as us. They had their order taken, their dessert served and eaten but no one took our order in that time. We had to leave without dessert or coffee as we were going to an event. I would definitely recommend Saffy's as the food is wonderful but leave plenty of time if you are on a schedule.

Lovely bistro just a short walk from the train station. Was in town for the day and found this on Google. Ordered the chowder and fish cake. Both amazing - fresh and homemade. Just lovely.
Nick P — Google review
Went here for a spot of dinner, clearly not a place to turn up late and booking is wise. The food was very good and the price very reasonable. We had a sharing dish to start that was varied, little heavy on the deep fried components, but all very good quality. The main courses were generous and we were able to select decent red and white wines to go with our food. The cheese plate was also good and eagerly shared. Well worth a visit.

"The Secret Garden" is a charming cafe located in the peaceful neighborhood of Doonfoot, away from the bustling town center. Housed in a renovated cottage, it features a spacious beer garden on the decking with scenic views of the woods and river. Visitors can enjoy a variety of dishes including Scottish, Mexican, and Indian cuisine served all day. The cafe is praised for its generous portion sizes and delightful presentation of food.
Our friends have recently moved to Patna, we wanted somewhere local to visit for brunch so the four of us went to The Secret Garden on 3/12/24. We all had a lovely time. Two of us had the Grand Full Scottish, my wife had the French toast and our friend had the Eggs (Royale) Benedict. The food was fantastic! The coffee was great and thank you for introducing me to a dirty chai latte. Never had one before… it was yum. The atmosphere was wonderful and the service was perfect. We will definitely be back to this great cafe!

Food and atmosphere fab. Wait time was very bad and once our food came 45minutes after we ordered!- the waitress attempted to give our full Scottish breakfasts to the table next to us one of whom had also ordered full English but as I noted we had been there twenty mins longer... His wife had ordered a butty and our full English x 2 had no eggs as we requested. Once we got the food we was impressed with taste however waitress didn't ask if we wanted sauce or come back to ask if it was all OK or if we needed another drink. We called in to this place on the way to denure castle from Ayr. I would go again but I'd hope to not wait as long. I appreciate it's busy on a Sunday morning but it felt we was forgotten... Even a large group. Who came in after us got thier burgers and fries before my full Scottish. Maybe service breakfast only until 12. So chef isn't having to make burgers etc at 11.15am. I still left a 10% tip As the waitress made a mistake which was retrified and we all Do this so I didn't want her to feel awful. Wait time was the issue. ❤️

Dog friendly and there is some gluten free choices from the menu, just ask the staff for details. Always a very busy wee cafe and lots of outdoor seating/ tables for a better day, or if you can brave the cold- get a good homemade soup to heat you up. Highly recommended, as always.

A great cafe with lots of tables, some outside. Brilliant service. Today, at the end of July, we ate from the breakfast menu whic has a good selection.
Joe B — Google review
Went with the family for lunch. One of those places where everything was just ok.....not awful, not great. The food was plentiful (loads of chips) and tasty, but not scrumptious. Prices reasonable. Felt the only thing that let it down was the decor, which is just my personal preference. It felt more like a cafe, although advertised outside the front door as a coffee shop. It could have been more cosy. (Door open constantly to the ouside area, where staff were going in and out all the time), which meant we felt cold. We would have hung around longer for another drink & cake after our meal, if it been a cosier environment to sit in.
Sarah P — Google review
Had many special occasion brunches here as the environment is so welcoming and sweet. I love bringing new people here to introduce them to classic Ayr spots! The cafe is right next to a walk along the river for before or after your meal too.
