Nestled next to the Ayr Gaiety Theatre, Stage Door Cafe is a charming tavern that serves up delightful light bites perfect for breakfast and lunch, as well as pre-show snacks and multi-course dinner options. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly, making it an ideal spot to unwind before or after a performance. Diners rave about the delicious food offerings, from perfectly cooked steak pie with rich gravy to mouthwatering eggs Benedict paired with maple bacon.
Amazing menu and amazing food! Plenty of gluten free options for the celiacs among us, and so tasty! We went before a show and booked pre-theatre. Staff were outstanding - highly recommended!

3rd time here & highly recommended it, good portion sizes, good quality fresh food & it's always busy & reasonably priced, would definitely return.

A restaurant attached the Gaity theatre. Friendly staff, large portions, interesting cocktails.

First time here and won’t be back. Food and service were ok but the cleanliness is very poor wee we’re in a booth and I looked down side of the seat and it was disgusting very dirty. Table had been wiped with something leaving marks all over it. My daughter and I went to toilet and could not believe our eyes they were terrible soo dirty cobwebs everywhere ceiling vents were full of fluff and dust and toilets there self were covered it toilet roll on toilet seat and floors. I wish I had went to the toilet first cause I would never have eaten here. Sorry but this cleanliness is not good enough.
Natalie T — Google review
Went for a pre theatre dinner and two of us ordered balmoral chicken. When cutting into it we noticed it was raw and informed the owner of the cafe. He took the plates away and returned saying it was “well underdone” and chef should have carved the chicken and he would have seen this himself. He offered to cook another but we declined and went for macaroni cheese as a safe bet. Macaroni was okay but a bit bland. Whilst waiting for macaroni we noticed a gentleman also being served chicken which he then proceeded to send back! Why wouldn’t they have checked his before sending out when ours had just been returned to kitchen?! We then ordered sticky toffee pudding and this was a bit stale and stodgy as though it had been made a couple of days prior. We left our dessert and went on to see the show. Must admit the owner handled it well, apologised and gave us 10% off bill. We used to love coming here for dinner, don’t know what’s happened but the chef is going to get the place shut down! Such a shame it’s gone downhill.

My daughter took me to a Neil diamond tribute and had booked this restaurant too before hand? Ordered fish and chips for both of us? Didn’t want to complain because my daughter had booked it, but she asked me to complain? The “ chips” we’re batter bits left over at the end of the cooking night, no potato in them and our forks could not cut through the tiny bits? Sent it back and was replaced by even worse “ chips”!!! Never been so disappointed by a meal. The plate came swimming in grease which tasted off? Waitress said they where having issues with it and to add to insult, charged us for 2 waters( Awful) wish I had taken photos

We had breakfast last Sunday, it was wonderful I had the eggs Benedict with maple bacon and a tea ( 3 cups in the pot ) and the wife had the small fry up. Great Update Popped in for lunch, smoked salmon and prawn salad (wow oh wow ). The ham toastie was perfect. A portion of dirty fries just topped it off.
Peter M — Google review
This restaurant used to be really good but it really has went down hill, getting coffee in a cup that has lip stick on it from a previous customer, then the food order the cajan chips and you lose any sense of taste since there was so much seasoning, then there was the staff who missed the memo about smiling and welcoming to customers

Been a while since last visit. This is a fabulous restaurant with great sea views over to Arran. It is situated at the south end of Ayr Beach. Its on the first floor of a sixties style building the food is excellent on a varied menu.I would like to make special mention of the service received tonight which was really wonderful. Prompt, friendly and helpful with menu questions.Thank you Ayr India for a great dining experience. 🤗
Dennis S — Google review
The food was amazing .. everything ordered was up to expectations. Except the spiced tea at the end, which was quite light and watery and would have been nicer if it was heavier. The atmosphere lacked anything to do with an Indian cuisine which is a shame as the Indian theme is absolutely beautiful and attractive. Would still go again and try other things in the menu. Prices were a bit towards to the high end but worth it for a good meal.
Nasreen A — Google review
It is a very expensive restaurant in Ayr near to the beach. The vegetable curry is one of the worst I've had. Pakora didn't look fresh, and the garnish was embarrassing. The dips also seemed a bit watered down. The spice onions were ok. Chicken tikka was enjoyed by the party as was the nan bread. Although we felt the curry sauce was also a bit too watery. The young girls working there put the effort in. The main hostess seemed a bit too overconfident and had many questions to ask, overstepping by asking what we do for employment. Drinks seemed flat and suspected out of 2 litre bottles. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it. Everyone has their own preference and tastes, etc. It wasn't worth the drive from Glasgow. £95 seemed steep as no alcohol included, nor was it x4 two course meals either, but paying that price it should be exceptional. On this occasion, it wasn't. The view of the beach is nice, plenty of parking available. So disappointed.
Craig P — Google review
Went to Ayr India Seafront and was really impressed. Staff were absolutely delightful, food was delicious and quite a lot of it. Service was quick. Prices were reasonable. Will definitely be back. Location over looking the beach was ace!
Tracey H — Google review
The most efficient service I have ever had in an Indian restaurant. Lovely food, great view and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend
Kay M — Google review
Fantastic everything... just too over priced. 3 Normal starters, 3 normal mains, no rice's, 1 naan, 2 chapati, 3 mango lassi, no other drinks... £113.00 We nearly ordered coffee, no wee chocolate or biscoff offering on the side just felt a step too far for what we paid. The family owners are wonderful, the waiting staff Fantastic, all the food was really good.... the view is Magnificent.. It still doesn't add up though. I certainly will be back and having been a few times before I was aware of the costs... I don't mind paying big money for anything. Value doesn't quite hit the mark.
Richard C — Google review
Food was very expensive but the portions were small ,and awful taste. We had to send a starter back as it was not fresh and smelly. Too much food colour in everything and not fresh at all. The only thing that was fresh naan.
Naresh K — Google review
When you eat out, the food is obviously the most important thing, and at Ayr India, the food is superb. What makes it it even more special is the friendly welcome, attentive service, and magnificent views of the Firth of Clyde.

Cecchini's Italian restaurant is a beautiful and stylish place where you can enjoy authentic Tuscan cuisine and Scottish burgers. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is excellent - would definitely recommend!
Beautiful restaurant 😍 First time trying here and it was not disappointing we got the 2 courses for £17.95 and it was worth it and great choices 👌 The food was delicious to busy enjoying it i never managed to get pics of everything 😅 the staff were very polite and attentive the restaurant felt very romantic and cosy , was a lovely dinner date with my husband 😊
Michelle W — Google review
Lovely little Italian restaurant. Though is interesting as I don’t know whether it’s because they had a bit of a Scottish twist or region. Food was tasty, staff were lovely, atmosphere good and buzzing as the evening came. Have to say it was the first time I’ve had a garlic baguette that had been flattened into flat bread. Though still liked the texture!
Cherry K — Google review
“Absolutely delicious! Every time I’m in Ayr by the seaside, my family and I always go here – we’ve even brought many of our friends along. It’s become our little tradition to come here after a day at the beach. The staff is perfect, the place is beautiful, and the food is absolutely amazing. Highly recommend!!!

Overall Thoughts: in Ayr Scotland for a High School Field Trip. Obviously as an American we LOVE Pizza. We had some time before touring a museum and needed some lunch! The restaurant is a block from the coast.…so the view was nice. I’d give this place a 4.8 out of 5. Friendly staff, great food, great atmosphere! 1. Restaurant Type: Italian 2. Coke Or Pepsi: NA 3. Ketchup Type: NA 4. Price/Value: affordable 5. Atmosphere: Nice & Italian 6. Food Quality: Good Quality 7. Service: Friendly Staff 8. Parking: NA 9. Must Haves: pizza & mozzarella sticks. Also the Latte was fantastic

Gorgeous meal with great service. There is an offer on if you arrive early which we missed but still found their prices reasonable and the food was delicious. Friendly service throughout our time here. We ordered Italian sausage penne pasta, lasagna and a portion of garlic bread. Plus Honeycomb cheesecake to share as a dessert and a macciato coffee. Would definitely recommend
Joyce J — Google review
Fantastic food! Travel to Ayr a lot yet this is my first time trying here. I believe that's due to the exterior of the restaurant but that was a poor judgement on my part. Inside is lovely decor, great atmosphere and food is fantastic and such friendly attentive staff.. Will definitely be back.
Theresa D — Google review
Great food. Staff were very friendly and we were able to enjoy a leisurely meal and catch up with family.
Helen H — Google review
Visited my sister who recently moved to Ayr and went for an evening meal with 3 in the party. Pre-booked the table. All had a starter and main course with alcoholic drinks and calypso coffees. Food was excellent and the service provided by Francis was first class. I do enjoy restaurant staff that are open to a bit of banter and Fancis did not disappoint. Will definitely be a booking whenever in Ayr.

Nestled in the heart of Ayrshire, The Rupee Room Indian Restaurant is a vibrant culinary gem that showcases the rich flavors of Punjabi and classic Indian cuisine. With its modern decor and inviting atmosphere, it’s no wonder this establishment has become a beloved favorite among locals and visitors alike. Diners rave about the authentic dishes that tantalize the taste buds, complemented by exceptional service from attentive staff like Umesh, who are always ready to guide you through their extensive menu.
This is the most authentic Indian I’ve had. My date and I enjoyed our meals very much. I had the South Indian curry as I love extra spiciness and it was perfect. Despite being spicy, you could taste all the flavors as the spice didn’t overpower the taste. My date enjoyed his Karahi paneer as well. The sides of mushroom rice and garlic naan were spot on too.
Nancy V — Google review
Try this place! The food is excellent - I love me a good butter chicken!
Patricia — Google review
Chewy lamb, undercooked chicken and missing prawns. The naan bread wasn't fresh but burnt and the salad consisted of a few strands of lettuce and onions squashed in a plastic bag with an old slice of lemon. Chef needs training infact just close this place down, decent restaurants do exist just not the rupee room.
A — Google review
Amazing staff, great food and when I left I was absolutely stuffed. Best service from the staff we've had from a restaurant in years. Couldn't recommend this place highly enough.
John — Google review
Went today curry's were lovely but nan breads were not cooked to order they were definitely out off a supermarket £15 for 2 courses then you get your bill and it's £20 questioned it and the guy says it's after 2 o'clock. But when I went in I said is it any starter and any meal for £15 he said yes but if you have prawn it's £5 extra noone had prawn Robin hood
Tammy O — Google review
Warm and friendly (until I raised an issue about food, but more on that later) reception, but food not authentic Indian. Not sure if it's the ingredients or style of cooking, but food didn't taste like Indian at all, although it looked like it. The poori (fried fluffy bread) was inedibly oily and Chole (gram dish) not cooked well. Not recommended.
Maaddhu M — Google review
Absolutely gutted to post this. I've ordered the same dish here for around 25 years. Till today I would have told you it's the best Lamb Saag I've eaten (it's the only dish I ever order anywhere so I have a lot to compare it to!). Unfortunately they've changed the recipe and it's a disaster. The texture is different, the flavour is salty and not spicy at all. Gone are the tomato chunks and the lamb cuts are fatty. I'm not angry I'm just disappointed. 😞 I don't want to base my rating on this one experience after 25 years of amazing food but if this version of lamb saag staying, I won't be. 😥
April — Google review
Very happy with our meal here tonight. We came for the early meal deal and the food was absolutely delicious. We also asked for korma for our daughter which was not on the menu and it was no bother to do that for us which was really kind. We were particularly impressed with the naan bread and enjoyed watching the chef cook it. We've come away full and very happy!

My husband and I ate here after a day at the races and everything we had was delicious from the big juicy prawn starter to the mixed grill and lamb chops of our mains. I finished with the pavlova and just loved it. The staff are polite and efficient which meant we didn't wait long between courses. Next time we are in Ayr we will definitely go again.

Absolutely delicious meal, Beautifully presented and super friendly staff. Highly recommended and excellent value for money.
Derek H — Google review
To be honest it doesn’t look that much from the outside but the interior is unexpectedly stunning for what appears at first look to be a cafe. Very nice atmosphere and super friendly staff. We had a breakfast there (long story, they are catering for guests of Kylestrome hotel) and it was excellent. Good choice and nice quality although the pot of coffee with breakfast seemed to be very weak. The general menu looked good choice and value , would absolutely go back to try something from their own menu. I have included the choice of Kylestrome menu in photos too just to reference what we ate.

I forgot to photograph my second meal here but I went here twice over the week of being there. First time everything was great, food amazing and very timely despite being a large group. Second time, maybe due to different staff on shift food and service dropped a bit. The second meal as I had bit of food envy from my friends having the tuna steak, I ordered it for the second visit and it was not quite the same presentation and service was less organised. Some people didn’t get their drinks. I did go from a snack and drink which was fine before I left, which was good so I’ve kept it as 5-stars. Will come visit again later this year!

Visited three times in as many days while staying in Ayr for work. Each time the welcome was warm, the beers were cold and the food tasty. Exactly what I needed! Staff were attentive & friendly. Good beer knowledge and helpful suggestions on what to enjoy next. A couple of the burgers ended up down my face (surely a good sign), but they were first class. The Devil Burger being a particular favourite.

Me and my family had brunch and tea at this spot and on both occasions were left highly satisfied with both the quality of food and service from the staff - would highly recommend Growlers to anyone visiting the area, we had the seafood and grill sharing platters and both were delicious 😊

Very nice meal in here today. We took our dog and the waitress couldn't have made more of a fuss over him, she gave him treats, water & brought him a blanket to lie on. Our dog never takes treats from anyone usually but he must have been able to tell she was a dog person. The food was gorgeous, the portion sizes were good and the whole place is nicely decorated and clean inside. We walked past it initially as it's right on the corner but I'm glad we found it. We decided to go as it's got good reviews on here, and we needed somewhere dog friendly. Our expectations were exceeded in every way, thank you.

Food was great 👍 but it wasn't very busy so there wasn't much atmosphere. Good food great choice of booze 😋 👌

So happy we stumbled on the Growler whilst staying in Ayr. Food and service was exceptional - amazing wings and burgers and so much able to be swapped for gluten free option. Even gf IPA!! Service was so fast and friendly - will definitely be back next time we're in the area.

Place has a nice appearance, staff friendly and efficient. They allow dogs, the night we were there they were very busy, we had quiet a wait for our food. The manager came over and apologised for the long wait, we had a complimentary cup of coffee, after a couple of minutes our food arrived. The pic's show that the food was very good or that we were very hungry. I'll leave that for you to decide. We will be back.

Tempura is a vibrant and lively restaurant known for its perfect tempura dishes. The atmosphere is laid-back and well-decorated, accompanied by fantastic background music. In from Chicago visiting family and meeting up with old friends. Tempura offered nice sized servings of crispy battered fish, chicken and more, delish deserts also. 2 meals, 2 deserts, 2 wines & 2 shandys under £70. Nice place to stop n eat in another wise sadly dead town center. Will deff stop in again next visit.

If you're a steak enthusiast, The Drunken Coo is an absolute must-visit. Nestled conveniently near the cinema and town center, this stylish steakhouse doubles as a cocktail bar, offering an elegant atmosphere paired with mouthwatering dishes. Guests rave about the exceptional food and attentive service, even on bustling nights like Hogmanay. Diners have enjoyed delectable starters such as scallops and Asian-style pork belly that leave you craving more.
Very thankful! Wanted to make a reservation for a big group in short time notice and the staff went above and beyond to make it happen. They were so friendly and attentive. Heard of them cause a friend recommended this awesome place and it was amazing. The steak was cooked to perfection for everyone in our party at the same time and the sides were generous and everything was very tasty. I had the lime and garlic chicken with flatbrad and hummus. It was so delicious and juicy. Had to eat it all, even though I was full. Highly recommend and big thanks again to the staff!

We visited for the first time this evening and had the Sunday roast, which was delicious! It was also very reasonably priced at £24. Service was good but the restaurant was very quiet (only 3 tables including ours when we went in). We were surprised at how expensive all of the steaks were as there's no menu online. Would go back for the regular specials/Sunday roast/burgers but the base price for a steak is very steep.
Tara M — Google review
Really nice meal very good and attentive service big sides and good portions. Reason for the 4 stars is the price £140 for 2 people with 1 cocktail and 1 coffee 1 sharing starter a fillet which at £45 Is steep and a mixed grill.
Tich M — Google review
We had a 9:30pm table booking for food. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted by friendly smiles and guided to our table, swiftly offered water and handed the menus. With a couple of tasty cocktails ordered to the table, our friendly waitress took our order of the calamari (light bite) - pictured, the rosemary wagyu steak, and the mixed grill. The taste was phenomenal, meat perfectly cooked, and when we were both defeated by the portion sizes, the waitress came over to collect our plates. A short consult later with our second stomachs about dessert, we ordered the pistachio raspberry tart, which again was stand out 🤌 All of the staff were absolutely wonderful and if we're ever in Ayr again, we will definitely be back. Sure it was expensive, but worth every penny. Thanks for a wonderful night!

Good steak 🥩 served by nice staff, music entertainment loud enough to keep secrets while talking, price in good relationship to expectations. Reasons to call in again. Update: Now at the end of our Scotland trip, we grade this restaurant to our No. one experience dinner 2023!

This was a 70th birthday treat for me and it was superb. I started with scallops, lobster bisque and crab salad. The saltiness of the bisque perfectly cut through the sweetness of the scallops and it was all so delicious. My main was a Wagyu ribeye steak. It was extremely tender and full of flavour, and accompanied by a giant mushroom, hand cut chips, tempura onion rings that melt in the mouth, a roasted garlic clove, and I had a colourful side salad. I finished with a hot ginger pudding with banana ice cream, and "Happy Birthday" was written in chocolate on the plate. The mocktails were refreshing and very tasty. The staff here are friendly and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble for them and I recommend a Drunken Coo experience to anyone, especially those who love meat.

Our guests enjoyed their meal and we received many positive comments. Communication and professional service were all spot on too. And the value great also. I would highly recommend Michael and his team for any event. Great job, thanks a million.

Busy service but all staff were attentive and friendly. The food arrived promptly but not rushed and just the right time in between courses. All the food we had was delicious. Scallop starter was stand out, the lamb was melt in the mouth and the Cullen skink was creamy, packed with flavour but not heavy. Good value for money for what we had. Only small thing, wine was a little pricey for the quality but did not take away from the meal. Would recommend to visit. .

Our first visit to "The Bistro" today 27th February 25. Lovely clean restaurant with beautiful decors. Toilet were very clean too. The only thing I would say was the toilet knob. I was struggling with it cause I have fingers problem. The girl who served us today she was lovely and friendly and good service too. We would definitely come back here again.

Few friends had visited The Bistro and thought we would give it a go. Staff were very good and polite and helpful. I was super hungry and needed help with my meal We had a bottle of bubbles and a beer 2 starters, 2 mains and one desert. Starters was very nice. I’m shocked I paid £10 for 1/2 a plate of salad, prawns and sauce was good. I ordered chicken and it was really nice. She ordered fish and that was very tasty We also ordered a side of mac and cheese and we ate 1/4 as it wasn’t that great The ice cream was sooooo good and we found the brand and have ordered a few tubs I dropped 1 star mainly of price. I totally understand the cost of running a business but the 1/2 portion of salad will stop me going back. Or maybe I will just order something else Who know The staff were just great tho. We sat near a baby and they really looked after the table. A very family friendly place There is road parking or a car park close

Save room for the sticky toffee pudding!! Review edited to add: I ended up at the Bistro for the second night in a row. Not because we particularly wanted to, but because they were one of the only places in Ayr open late! However, they did NOT disappoint. My first visit I’d say I maybe second guessed myself and picked menu items that I wouldn’t normally try. They were great, but not my favourite. Second night. We ordered what we wanted to the previous night! The Braised Lamb was EXCELLENT and along with the Bourbon and Peach cocktail, it was delightful. Had another round of that Sticky Toffee Pudding, and happy for a long walk home 🖤

After 6 cancelled flights and 16+ hours of flights and layovers, I needed a reason to live again. This food did it! We were able to get food after most other places had closed or were bar-only. This is a small place but has a good amount of seating. The bathrooms were very thoughtfully arranged and clean. The food was EASILY the best meal we had during our 5 days in Scotland, including our time in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The menu is sophisticated and varied. We found a lot to love and there were gluten free options. We considered going back the next evening but decided to give a neighboring place a chance, which turned out to be a mistake. Highly recommend.

From start to finish The Bistro is fine dinning, in an unpretentious but sophisticated setting. Everything on the menu was worth exploring and the cocktails were fantastic. We left full, satisfied, and happy… the waitress (from Australia) was attentive and lovely. 110% recommend!

Well what can I say about The Bistro? What a perfect place for lunch in Ayr. The ambiance was perfect, decor perfect for a small friendly bistro. I had the home made soup and it was delicious. My wife had the goats cheese salad and said it was also delicious. For our main course I had the local mussels in white wine sauce and my wife had the home made Mac & cheese. All our choices were perfect. I would highly recommend a visit the next time you are in Ayr.

I had a fabulous meal here and the staff were super helpful and thoughtful in helping me surprise my daughter for lunch. We were on holiday for my 60th birthday.. We passed this restaurant one evening before my birthday and noticed that there was Domes in the carpark, which were lite up with fairy lights.. My daughter's managed to book a Dome as a surprise for me, for a birthday meal... It was a magical experience that everyone enjoyed from my 10week old grandson (loved the twinkly fairy lights) to my 10 Yr old twin grandsons, to my 82nd Yr old mother 🥰... The food was excellent and such a massive choice of menus including Gluten Free/Vegan and children's menu.. The portion sizes are on the large side (for all menus) We enjoyed our experience so much we booked 2 days later (to eat in the restaurant) for our 39th wedding anniversary meal. Both of our experiences were wonderful and the Staff went above and beyond on both occasions... Every person in my group would highly recommend this venue especially if you are looking for something special (or even just for a meal).. The cost is very reasonable especially for the quality of the meals and the quantity.. If you are in Ayr, I definitely recommend that you give The Fox & Willow a try.. you won't be disappointed ☺️..

Food and service was good as usual, although the person was with wasn't as keen on their meal, sauce was too creamy and rich which stopped her from finishing it. Menu wasn't as eye catching as it can be. Some menus you struggle with choosing, other times I feel like I'm stuck with only a couple of options I fancy. Obviously that is just down to personal tastes though and the fact I'm usually there for a lunch so not wanting steaks and stuff then.

Great value and huge outdoor beer garden with large kids area: swings and obstacle course. We found this gem a few weeks ago and have been back twice since, once for their special: steak and a bottle of wine for 2 (for £40), and once on a sunny day to sit in the beer garden with chips and beer while the kids played. We love it here and will be back.

Nice food and bargains for what we had. Thursday steak night is definitely one of the best nights to dine at the restaurant, a 16oz mouth watering T-bone for less than £20, no one should miss it. We will be back there again every time we visit Ayr.

Came here for the Valentine's Day special menu with my partner - 5 courses and a glass of prosecco for £27.95 per person, which in the current climate I thought was incredible value. Each course was fantastic and it was the best service I've experienced for a long time. It really felt like a special occasion with high quality foods and the staff had really gone out their way to create a wonderful relaxing atmosphere. We also had the Valentine's cocktails which were a nice touch too. A really wonderful evening, and I am so glad we chose to dine at our local.

We recently held our ‘happily ever after’ party at Balgarth following our elopement, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The staff were so welcoming the morning we arrived to set up — a lovely man and woman helped us move tables multiple times without complaint (I can be quite fussy!), and nothing was too much trouble. On the night of the party, the staff member working (I believe her name was Kristen or Kirsten) was so polite, professional and friendly. We even saw her again the next morning while collecting our decorations, and she was just as lovely. Martin, the owner, truly went above and beyond. He offered us drinks while setting up, and when we ended up staying longer than planned, he surprised us with complimentary Prosecco. He also made scrambled eggs for my friend’s young son — again, completely free — and took time to interact with him, which meant a lot. The next morning, after checking in to see how everything went, he even covered our breakfast in the beer garden, which was such a thoughtful gesture. The buffet was fantastic — we had so many compliments from guests and it was very reasonably priced for the quality and amount of food. The garden area was spotless and such a lovely space to enjoy the sun until 9pm. We also loved the idea of offering our guests a drink on arrival using tokens, which allowed them to choose their preferred drink — a brilliant suggestion from the staff! We genuinely couldn't have asked for a better venue or team. Everything was seamless, warm, and incredibly well looked after. Thank you so much to Martin and all the team at Balgarth for making our celebration so special.

This is the closest restaurant to me and so handy for travel etc. It's never quite perfect in regards of food and sometimes service, however over the last 2 occasions the food has been a let down. My biggest criticism is the insistence of management to have a large screen TV playing the daily news over and over..A few days ago whilst eating dinner,we were bombarded with images of Gaza being bombed, death and destruction in Ukraine and civil unrest in England. All you could hear ( whilst trying to enjoy dinner was people saying " oh look 56 dead today , including women and children" when I asked management if we had to listen to this and see the images whilst eating dinner, the reply was " I know but it's one of the only

Popped in for a bite to eat at lunch time and was really impressed. The selection and quality of food was really high. Very affordable too. The place wasn't busy and the served food portions were managed just right rather than being overwhelming. Unlimited soft drinks for a fixed price were a great option. Highly recommend.

My family and I celebrated my husband's 32nd birthday at Mr. Basrai's yesterday and we had the loveliest time, there were so many foods to choose from and a lot of wonderful desserts, too. As an autistic person, eating at restaurants can be difficult, but this buffet was so quiet and had such a calming atmosphere with options to suit even the pickiest of palates. The staff were also kind and patient and my mum and I were even given lollipops before we left. Everything was cooked beautifully — the chicken pakora, gulab jamun, and baked yoghurt were my favourites, a wholeheartedly recommended visit when in Ayr, we will definitely be back for another special occasion.

We were in our for a family wedding. Our huge family group from Seattle, Las Vegas, Maryland and Glasgow descended on this restaurant only 30 minutes before it’s closing time. The adults in our party were far outnumbered by the children, but that did not Phase the owners chefs nor servers at this fabulous place. There were so many options. They helped me figure out ingredients and serving sizes so that I could appropriately dose my child with Type 1 Diabetes. When I shared that I loved a certain spice on a dish, one of the gentleman took me To show me the spices that went into it so that I could replicate it back here in Seattle! It’s amazing when you can feed a huge number of people with all different cuisines and at the same time be treated like family by those who own and work the restaurant. I cannot wait to visit this establishment again in the future!

Maybe because of the town being a seaside town less people are around in Feb/Mar. Was very quiet, food was very towards Indian style. So a lot of curries and even certain items had more of an Indian twist. But all still very tasty for a reasonable price. Hats off to the grilling chef. The medium-rare steak was amazing and perfectly cooked!

Has to be, without a doubt, one of the worse buffet places I've ever been to. Granted the air show was on so every table was taken, but the number of empty hot plate dishes was incredible. Most of the food was unavailable and the food that was available, tasted absolutely horrendous. The restaurant should be able to cater for a full house, but it appears this is not the case. The pakora sauce was just ketchup, none of the food had ever seen a grain of salt in it's life and no salt/pepper available to do it yourself. I went to get a spoon for the ice cream to find there was none, along with no spare knives. I told a member of staff who stated they were coming out. After waiting 10 minutes, I gave up and ate my ice cream with a knife . My son asked the chef to make him carbonara. He returned to the table holding the smallest portion of pasta with a red sauce. He was to shy to tell the chef that it wasn't what he ordered.

Ate here whilst on holiday with friends at the nearby Craig Tara haven site. We are a lunchtime and it's such an amazing place. Great atmosphere with very friendly and helpful staff. The food and selection is all amazing. Brilliant how much different choice there is with so many cuisines, all with their own flavours and good quality meat/ingredients! Would definitely come again.

Five star review. The best staff for a start. Regarding the negative review. Contains totally false statements. At no point any member of staff ever pat our princess. My girlfriend got bad looks from that table. Very rude. We got a brand new little pram. Concealed our pet. We take turns in washing hands here before dining. We get countless compliments from high end restraunts to pet friendly hotels. Because she is outstandingly clean. Out standingly well groomed and extremely well behaved. On top of that the little tiny dog in concealed pram she's referring to happens to be a national hero. And minds her own business!. I'm not a pet person myself. But she has well passed the assessment from the staff up and down the country. And non bias facts are that princess well exceeds some humans im terms of manners. The food we choose very good. We love the wok. I love the marinated medium to rare steak. It's a world dish buffet. We love it. And we respect everything and everyone around us. Thank you for everything. From G and A.

Visited here on a Monday night with my mum and granddaughter and so glad we reserved a table. We booked for 7pm and it was not too long before the restaurant was full. The service was friendly and helpful. The food was amazing, we got the starters and mains and my granddaughter got fresh fish goujons and chips, fresh fruit with chocolate dip, so good to get fresh kids meals instead of the usual frozen meals offered elsewhere. I would definitely go back if I was in the area as all food was so delicious.

Excellent service and food to match. We turned up on a bank holiday having not booked a table. Although the manager said unfortunately they were fully booked, they managed to fit us in on an outside table. Actually you could argue that these were the best seats in the house anyway, looking out to the harbour. We had a fantastic main course and starter but couldn't quite manage a desert. However the ladies working surprised us and our 2 year old, who's birthday it was, with a lovely presented plate with cake and a happy birthday banner on. Once again thank you for a fantastic meal and the wonderful service

I loved the fact that I could have dinner in the sunny terrace, with a view to the river and the sea. Waitresses are really nice and smiling. Starter was perfect (blend of sea food) as for flavours and size. Even bread was delicious. However, the main course was a classic burger that had quite dry meat and it lacks sauces and flavour... I was disappointed. Still I like it and recommend it especially when sun is here ;)

During my recent trip to Ayr, I finally had the chance to dine at Saffy's Bistro, a vibrant and stylish brasserie that has quickly become a local favorite. Known for its creative Mediterranean and global cuisine, this bustling eatery was packed even late in the evening. The atmosphere buzzed with energy as diners savored dishes crafted from fresh local ingredients.
A small establishment by one of the corners by Dalblair road. Cosy and warm interior , great atmosphere for small gatherings and meet up with friends. Great hospitality from the staffs too. Delicious food which was fairly priced and enjoyed but all. There were clean plates all round! I was part of a party of 5 and the service was too slow - we were there for 90 minutes and only had time for mains. The table next to us were given the dessert menu at the same time as us. They had their order taken, their dessert served and eaten but no one took our order in that time. We had to leave without dessert or coffee as we were going to an event. I would definitely recommend Saffy's as the food is wonderful but leave plenty of time if you are on a schedule.

Went here for a spot of dinner, clearly not a place to turn up late and booking is wise. The food was very good and the price very reasonable. We had a sharing dish to start that was varied, little heavy on the deep fried components, but all very good quality. The main courses were generous and we were able to select decent red and white wines to go with our food. The cheese plate was also good and eagerly shared. Well worth a visit.

Lovely restaurant, we had a really nice meal here. 2 adults and 2 kids. Both menus were brilliant and very generous portion sizes. Lots of choice and not just bog standard stuff. Highly recommend the food and the chocolate brownie was the best I've had in a while! All the staff were great and I genuinely felt bad I had no coins to give as a tip and there was no option for the service addition on the card machine so it would be great if this was added on! Good value for money too. :)

Lychees-Ayr is a modern restaurant in Miller Road that offers authentic Asian flavors and dramatic presentation. The staff members are known for their fantastic service, and the ambiance is peaceful. The food is considered excellent value, with a 3-course meal priced at only 13 pounds. Customers appreciate the efficient and tasty dining experience, as well as the nice touches like the misty water feature and giant fish tank.
Absolutely delicious! Got Malaysian Chicken with noodles and Hot n Spicy Squid with fried rice. Good sized portions, would definitely recommend. A bit pricier than my normal Chinese but worth it 😀😀😀

Out for a meal with an old friend. The food at Lychees was excellent as was the service. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived but it filled up nicely as we ate. Lychee is a great place to eat and is highly recommended.

Nice cosy restaurant serving cantonese and thai cusine. Friendly staff, food served quickly and hot. Wheelchair friendly entrance and plenty of space between tables and disabled WC too.

Went for lunch and chose the all day menu. Chicken sweetcorn soup for starters with chicken curry and banana fritter to follow. Loved it. Food was delicious and service was excellent. Good well stocked bar also for drinks. Definitely found a wee gem.

Ordered 3 portions of their salt and chilli chips keep in mind they are £3.75 a portion! I am so unimpressed and disappointed in what they served me considering this was my dinner and was expecting a proper portion, the chips themself were soggy, chewy and didn’t have any onion or pepper that’s normally mixed.

We sat in for a meal, rather than the usual takeaway, and we're delighted by the quality and taste of the food. Added to this was the excellent service making for a fantatic experience. Thank you.

They've had a shocker here. Friday mid morning. This dark sludge was the bloody mary after the server firstly forgot to put any Worcester sauce (or so it seemed) , then proceeded to drown it with the stuff. Undrinkable. Never came near me once thereafter to ask how it was as it sat at the side my of my table untouched. Partner requested OJ and coffee. She forgot the OJ. Then when delivered, we git an orange squash. Despite being charged for fresh orange. Whilst still waiting for the food (the other reviews mentioning the show wait were spot on) I returned the undrinkable bloody Mary and got a bottle of beer, which was "comped". Food arrived, 40 minutes after we arrived. There were only two tables with customers. The omelette was "fine" apparently. Though a little greasy. The meridian spicy eggs were OK. Not sure what what a potato Scone nacho is other than a regular tattie scone cut in half. All the ingredients were decent, but didn't work as a combo. Eggs were overdone. All in all, utterly underwhelming.

1st time trying the Meridan.. WOW the service was impeccable.. waitress was very friendly and welcoming. Food was absolutely phenomenal very filling and worth every penny. We ordered from the 2 for £19.50 menu which had so much selection. We will definitely be back!!!!

Visited here on 2nd September for dinner and had an extremely disappointing experience! We ordered Steak pie with chips, Chicken Fajitas, Flat white coffee and a glass of water. Waited about 30 minutes for food to arrive, I tried one piece of the steak and instantly knew that this wasn’t right, tasted awful and tainted. Looked very dry with no gravy and there was a smell coming from it. Completely put me off. I could only eat the pastry, veg and a little of the chips. May I add the chips weren’t the usual ones that they usually serve, they were French fries. Further disappointment. I left all of the steak in the ashet it was served in due to the way it was, not edible and my partner gave me one of his Chicken Fajitas, this was okay although a lot of oil was present in the iron skillet which doesn’t usually happen either. Really could be doing with more cheese, salsa, sour cream and guacamole being served with these as not enough for the 3 wraps. For the money being charged at £18.95 it’s shocking. Food wasn’t served piping hot like it usually is either. Luke warm, usually the chicken Fajitas come sizzling hot which they weren’t. We have been coming here for over a decade and I have never felt the way we did at the visit. Waitress was kind although didn’t come over to ask if our food was okay. Once our plates were pushed to the edge of the table the waitress came over and upon picking up the plates I said that the steak pie doesn’t taste right at all and gave my reasons as above. She was very apologetic and said she would say to the chef. Came back and said sorry again and that she would take the drinks off but all the drinks were was a glass of water and flat white coffee so basically take £3.50 off! I said I wasn’t happy paying for the steak pie at £18.95 and my reasons why as stated above, also said all I ate was the puff pastry, veg and a little fries and wasn’t happy paying that price for it when the steak is the main component! I also asked if it was a different chef as I have never had a meal like it before here. Waitress replied well yes due to staff shortages the head chef was along at the sister business The Growler and that she didn’t like the dynamics either. The head chef is good but that’s all I’ll say there. In my eyes this just isn’t good enough, management shouldn’t have someone in the kitchen charging these prices if they aren’t competent enough. At the end of the day it’s the customer suffering due to this. Waitress said she would phone the head chef along the road to come down and see what he thought. Didn’t hear anything from the head chef or the so called chef but waitress came over to the table with the bill and said that the steak pie had been taken off the bill. Left a tip for the waitress as she was very apologetic but it shouldn’t have been her doing so. It has put me completely off this place now. If they haven’t got the right staff to do the job it shouldn’t be open. Very disappointed!

Had a great meal here of the set menu before 7 pm. It was really busy when we arrived but we were able to get a table. I had the nachos for starters, which was a big plateful. Loaded with plenty of topping, the tortilla chips were thicker than I had anywhere else, and as a result, the ones that have all the topping on them that normally go soggy did not here! Just as crisp. The lasagne was great too, really tasty. The chips that came with it were nice and crispy but still soft inside. The staff were all friendly and helpful. If I was back in Ayr I would be going back to The Meridian Cafe.

After being regular customers myself and the girls have always loved a few cocktails in the meridian. Unfortunately we will not be back. We went for a couple before heading for the train as we normally would, the place was very busy when we first arrived which was good to see. Waitress was straight over asking for our drinks order. Soon after we arrived a large party left and just as our drinks arrived the few other small groups left leaving only myself and my 2 friends left. We decided to have another drink and went to the bar and waited to be served. We were completely ignored by staff members who were mopping floors tidying up around us. My friend then asked if they were still serving to be told the bar staff were on a break…never took our order or offered to take our order when staff returned. It was made very obvious that they wanted us to leave and we assumed wanted to close early. Very disappointed as we should be treated the same whether there be 3 customers or 30! We will not be returning after this experience. They were more than happy to take our money when the place was busy then as soon as they everyone left it was made obvious they had no intention of serving us again. Very disappointed.

My son ,and grandson ,took the chance of getting a table for 3 ,on such a busy weekend, as it was the yearly airshow, so everywhere was extremely busy. Despite having 1 chef unavailable so there was only 1 chef on the premises ,and just a handful of waiting staff ,and bar staff. They did an amazing job! Well done to all the team for doing a fantastic job, from being under pressure from it being a very busy weekend . They couldnt apologise enough for the wait of our food. Thank you for doing a fantastic job.👏👏👏👏

Had our dinner here as we are on a weekend break. Well if I could give them more stars I would. We didn't book but we were seated right away. My husband had scampi and I had the steak with all the trimmings and both dishes were superb. My husband had the lemon meringue pie and I had the sticky toffee pudding although beautiful It came with summer Berry's on top which wasn't to my taste. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Service was very swift and food piping hot. I would highly recommend here for a meal 🙂

We only found this pub as we were staying at the Mecure Hotel (not great) It's a little away from other pubs and restaurants. Friendly people, great service and good food. After a couple of drinks we sat down in the restaurant area. The value menu 2 courses for just under £14.00 looked perfect. I ordered Penne Bolognaise and my partner ordered Chicken Fajitas Halfway through we swapped dishes as the chicken was too spicy for my partner. I have never tasted such amazing Fajitas. They were awesome, a little spicy and I loved it. My only criticism would be that my pasta was slightly over cooked and lost that Al dente bite. Luckily my partner hates Al dente pasta and loved it. The place is very well run, very clean and a great atmosphere. I hope to return and eat outside in a lovely garden area.

Great wee place, we had a lovely lunch very reasonable prices and drinks are really well priced too, outside seating too. Had an afternoon out with a friend for our birthdays. I had macaroni cheese which was delicious. Place was reasonably busy but we were able to sit and enjoy our meal then moved intot he bar area for some drinks. Easy to chat and not overly crowded. Toilets were clean. Staff were friendly and we were served quickly anytime we ordered drinks.

Food was really good but the service was awful! Firstly, had to ask for our menus after sitting for 10 minutes (we were told to grab a seat and they be straight over) then when we BOTH had run out of drinks no one approached to see if we wanted more. We weren't asked how the food was. Even when we paid no one asked how it was. There was one staff member who was literally just walking about in circles. We even seen another woman clearing her own table!

Tried Willie Wastles for the first time a few days ago, overall honestly not to bad. Service and atmosphere are excellent. Lamb Shank was cooked beautifully, I loved how generous the sauce with it is. However, the Steak Pie Gravy was extremely salty and the two friends i was with couldnt really eat a lot of it due to that. Also, I could have sworn the mashed potatoe served with the Lamb Shank was out a cheap packet and not made in the kitchen. It had no flavour and no texture whatsoever. Overall though, the Lamb was beautiful that I had. Not bad at all, better than most for a Lamb dinner.

Really good food, woman who served us was excellent. Yet another fab lunch at Buckleys. Never had a bad meal here but the food just keeps getting better. I’ve not given a five star review for a couple of reasons. The good stuff first. The service was 10/10. Cleanliness 10/10 food presentation 10/10 friendliness 10/10 however…. I didn’t really enjoy my breakfast. It looked premium as said presentation was very good, but the quality of the ingredients tasted cheap. Also the portion was really small like really small. One sausage, one egg, one bit of bacon, a table spoon of beans and one slice of toast . 2 small breakfasts with a tea and a black coffee was £23. There was a more expensive breakfast available but that would have been near £30 and in truth it’s too expensive. Sorry it’s just not for me.

We booked for lunch - 5 of us - on Sunday. Not only were we late but they had already decided to stop food in the pub section. They did let us have our food in the pub section so some of the group could have the ales they liked but the food was lush. I had the Scottish Tapas as I couldn’t choose a dish and the mince and tatties were amazing. Everyone really enjoyed their food and the prices were really decent. I only marked down one point on the atmosphere as the music got really loud and banging for relatively early on a Sunday and it didn’t seem to be hitting the spot with most of the other customers either lolz. Proper pub, proper pub food.

Really nice place. Staff were excellent. For most part food was good. I had scallops, which were really disappointing and why I knocked a star off tbh. They were very small especially given its one if the dearer starters at 10pounds. The chicken tempura was good and chips were good. Sticky toffee pudding was OK. It was a huge bit but it was a little dry. I also tried the mac and cheese, it was excellent, I will def get it next time i visit. The toffee Eton mess was wonderful as I also tried that, again this will be something I get next time too. Drinks were all good and as I said staff were great. Thanks

An absolute gem that we were so so lucky to find during our Scotland trip last week. The staff member that served us was so lovely and welcoming and informative. The chef's special was amazing and the whole vibe was so cosy and friendly. It was such a treat to had some real creative vegan food rather than the standard chain cafe offerings. We left after a week long visit just wishing we had come on a different day so we could have tried it all but unfortunately our visit overlapped all the other days that the cafe was closed. KFC, a popular fast food chain recognized for its signature buckets of fried chicken and combo meals with various sides, has recently received mixed reviews. One customer expressed disappointment after specifically requesting ten pieces of chicken without any legs but receiving a bucket solely filled with legs instead. This incident seemed to reflect a recurring issue highlighted in other negative reviews. Despite this setback, the drive-thru experience was efficient and pleasant, thanks to the friendly service provided by staff members.

After yesterday evening’s “dinner” at KFC, my child spent the entire night suffering from diarrhea and vomiting for several hours in a row. Just two hours after eating the meal, all the symptoms began (he was the only one who ate the chicken there, none of us ordered anything, and only he experienced all the symptoms of food poisoning). It was an absolute nightmare and a serious health risk for customers. This place is a joke, avoid it at all costs!

Whether you’re craving freshly brewed teas or coffees, they have it all! The atmosphere is lively yet welcoming, making it perfect for any occasion.
Always have the best time here. Atmosphere is great, such a cool interior and good music. Staff are lovely, Megan in particular is so nice I feel like a minor celeb the way I'm greeted tbh. Food is great, big portions. Lots of good events on like open mic, quizzes and stuff. Never a bad night out here whether it's just for food or a proper night out. 💕

I have been coming with friends for the quiz nights for just over a month and its such a great night out. Really nice venue with a cracking beer garden area. Staff are all lovely, friendly and welcoming. Drinks reasonably prices too. Havent tried the food yet but it always looks and smells delicious. It is down a rather steep set of concrete steps which would be the only drawback but it adds to the character of the venue and it really stands out, always have the best night here

Fist time in here just to get a feeling for the place after discovering it. Inside is beautiful with stone walls , little coloured lights. One back area into smaller areas. Also outdoor seating with shelter & patio heater making it a special lil gem . Checked out the food menu for a later date & there's also entertainment. Staff were lovely so definitely coming back Street parking outside

We have a tradition before the whisky festival every year we eat and have a few drinks at the smoking goat. Absolutely love the atmosphere, the drinks and meal are amazing and very very reasonably priced. Waiter was fantastic. This tradition will continue as we couldn't ask for a better place to be before we get full of whisky. Update - As tradition we booked here for our meal and a few drinks before the whisky festival. We booked at 1pm. After we were shown to our seats we waited on drinks and food order. After 15 mins we went and ordered drinks ourselves. When we received our drinks we ordered our food. Unfortunately this is where the service was poor. We were assured a few times our food wouldn't be long. But after 50 mins wait we decided to leave. As we were leaving our food was being brought out. We explained we were leaving due to the wait and was told they had 150 people booked in hense the delay. I'm sorry but that's not our issue. You are a restaurant. If yous can't cope then don't allow that many bookings. We were compensated for our wait which is fine. Food was delicious I can't fault it as usual. But very disappointed in the service. So we have came to the agreement that we will book somewhere else next year.

This was our third visit to The Smoking Goat and we again loved everything. Service by Holly and PJ was fabulous, nothing was a bother and we were well looked after! Huge vegan selection and I even got a dessert! Deep fried pickles are an absolute must and the portions are really big!!! Great atmosphere and food. Be back soon

I used to enjoy coming here regularly but I’m pretty much done. There are issues that show the owner’s priorities and it’s had a negative effect of the business. The owner’s decision to half the portion sizes of food, while keeping the same price shows me that they only care about the money, and not the business itself, as does the decision not to remove items from the menu that haven’t been available for months. Pros: The place itself is really fantastic, I love the exposed walls and beams, the basement location means no direct sunlight so it’s nice and cool in summer. The both in the alcove feels nice and private, everyone’s favourite table! The staff are so friendly and helpful, there are so many creative cocktails, and the bar staff are happy to make a delicious mocktail. The quality of the food is excellent, I love the chicken and chorizo waffle with maple syrup, and there are amazing gluten-free options. There is always soap in the bathrooms. Cons: The prices have stayed the same but the portion sizes have halved, and in some cases the portion is now less than half of what it was, but the price has stayed the same. The menu continues to claim that there’s a soup and cheesecake of the day - there hasn’t been for months but for some reason the owners won’t print new menus - and given the now ridiculously high priced menu, they can definitely afford to reprint. There are no period products in the female bathroom and not all of the stalls in the female bathrooms have bins.

McDonald's is a well-known fast-food chain famous for its burgers and fries. Customers often stop by for cold milkshakes, ice cream, and quick snacks. While some have experienced mix-ups with their orders and unclean facilities, others have praised the efficient and helpful staff even during busy times. Travelers find it to be a convenient stop while on the road due to its consistent service quality.
Very nice feelings after my visit there, warm food served quickly, very friendly service despite being young, clean, tidy and in my opinion atmospheric. Thank you very much

Just regular McDonald’s place. You can be served very quickly. Nice personnel place is tidy. The only problem is access tobthe car park as it closely located to Tesco supermarket.

Anemic hash brown absolutely dripping in grease. It's much paler than the picture shows. Picture with napkin touched against it for 2 seconds shows the fat coming off it. Either your fat isn't warm enough or it's just been dipped in fat. Gross.

Ordered a few items to dine in, initially noticed a mc crispy missing after a minute noticed another large fries missing. Staff are not even considering the customers though I’m standing in front of them. Don’t recommend this branch

Only had a coffee, dining area clean with no messy tables, order came quickly after ordering in the machine, staff serving were friendly.

Great location and parking. Everything was clean as well as the loos. Food was good, as you would expect. Everyone was friendly and it was obviously a local hub for the neighborhood and local groups. Had a great feel to it.

The last few times been to Ayr at least 1 item missing. Tonight a share box all 4 dips missing. Last time chips missing. Fruit bag missing. Fruitshoot missing. All this and only ordering for 2 people. Sat n watched at least another 6 people when I sat in with missing items. Please get staff to double check orders. Be a shame to stop going. Also seen a woman report 3 young neds shouting at her. Reported to staff member they told another staff member who then got a manager. Who then served someone while the lady was clearly in distress. Then the 3 neds got picked up and the manager walked outside just as they got into a car. Told the lady nobody was there. I stepped in and told the manager what happened. Almost 10 mins from reported to actwent outside. Felt for the woman she was I'd say late 50s. Even inside I was challenged by youths when asked to stop shouting and swearing. Staff tried to stop them running into the back of the shop but the shy smiles approach to move them didn't work as was just laughed at by them. Stop neds just sitting in hanging about in groups. Rant over!!!
Ryan K — Google review
The culinary experience was markedly substandard. The double cheeseburger, despite its nomenclature, was served with merely a single slice of cheese, thereby failing to meet basic expectations. Additionally, the Big Mac ordered with extra cheese arrived entirely devoid of cheese, suggesting a significant lapse in attention to order specifications. These recurring oversights raise concerns regarding staff training and literacy in order processing. Furthermore, the demeanor of managerial staff appeared notably unwelcoming, with repeated instances of hostile or disapproving gazes, implying that the act of placing an order was perceived as an imposition rather than a routine customer interaction.

From the moment I walked in I could tell how clean the place was , was served by Dani and what an absolute delight she was. Smiling the full time. Made sure my order had everything and even upselled me on some dips for my food , would definitely come back

Toilets out of order the last 2 times we've been. Come on people, customer inconvenient and certainly unacceptable for such a high turn over of people. Inconvenient and inadequate. Could do so much better at this site specifically.

I went into this burger king in ary and was welcome with smiles and understanding employees. I notice the employees take more care of the store than most fast-food stores. The place had a lovely atmosphere as there was smiles all around.

Absolute Disgrace. My 13 year old daughter went there with her friend and paid their orders seperately, she ordered a 6 piece chicken nugget medium meal with an orange juice. They were sitting in. The person that served my daughter charged her about £9.40, for a meal that should cost £7.29-£8. They were obviously pulling the wool over their eyes as they are kids. When I called to complain the staff member was really rude and refused to help me after i told her i don’t have the receipt. She interrupted me mid sentence and hung up. I should also add the staff member that served my daughter was being rude and not the nicest to them. I am not happy at all and will be sending an email.

I often give fast food outlets some leeway & room on account of them usually being run by inexperienced youngsters with little to no concept of old fashioned customer service skills, however I was very pleasantly surprised after visiting Burger King in Ayr high street. Staff were welcoming as well as busy, our server was a middle aged gent and our food was prepared promptly. My only complaint was the burgers could have had a little more dressing (bacon on one side only, same with the lettuce) however they were quite busy, so nearly full marks all round this time. Best service I've received at a BK yet.
Christian H — Google review
Food was warm and very tasty. Service was fast and pleasent
Natasha C — Google review
As far as BKs go, this one is pretty typical. Staff are usually cheerful and friendly. My issue is the price (which is a corporate thing, I know.) For fast food, they charge way too much. And the burgers must be shrinking. A whoppper junior used to be bigger and fill me up. Now it's literally the size of a ketchup packet and the prices keep going up. My advice if you want a good burger? Skip it. Check out Nanny Mary's instead. You'll pay about the same but the food is far superior.

Ordered a meal and a large regular coke. Got charged full price and sugar tax but got given a 500ml bottle of diet coke. Not told they didn't have it not given an option to choose to not have a drink or a choose a different drink or anything. Wouldn't take it back just kept the money like nothing happened. That's hardly good service is it.

If you're in Ayr, make sure to stop by Black Rooster Ayr for a delightful culinary experience! This vibrant eatery offers an array of mouthwatering options, from grilled chicken and wings to juicy burgers and loaded peri peri fries. I recently indulged in their Spicy Chicken Burger, which was a flavor-packed delight with perfectly cooked chicken nestled in a soft bun. The generous portions and welcoming atmosphere made my visit even more enjoyable.
I recently visited Black Rooster Ayr and tried their Spicy Chicken Burger, and I must say, it was absolutely delicious! The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy, and the spice level was just right – not overwhelming, but still packed with flavor. The bun was soft, and the toppings complemented the burger perfectly. The portion size was generous, and the overall experience was fantastic. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming. I highly recommend Black Rooster for anyone looking for a great meal. I’ll definitely be back!

Must say service was good. The lady taking the order did do a go Job. Food was very average. Ordered food sharing platters x 2. Kids meal x 2. Was absolutely disappointed. Because it felt like the chicken was boiled/ warmed , sauces poured on top, and packed up. Seriously ordered grilled wings and grilled chicken for a reason. The GRILLED CHICKED NEEDS TO BE GRILLED. There were no grill marks and chicken was chewy. I definitely expected better because you did look like a quality brand. Unfortunately it spoiled my last day of Holiday in Ayr. In any case I hope the feedback is taking in the right spirit.

Tried chicken wings, burger and peri fries. Everything was excessive salty and the hot sauce was the worst. Chicken was uncooked and sauce needs to be better here. My suggestion would be, Please change your chef. Never coming back here and worst food ever.

So glad that Black Rooster has opened in Ayr! The menu is great and very good value. The food is excellent, especially the wings! The hot lemon & herb sauce is the bomb! Staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is just right. Highly recommend!

Was my very first time at black rooster today and I was served by the lovely Kadie. Her customer service was absolutely amazing. She was so patient and understanding about it being my first time & didn’t rush me into ordering which I was so grateful for as I didn’t get a chance to look at a menu prior to me coming in. The food was absolutely delicious! Thanks so much Kadie for your kindness and your lovely service it meant so much and made my day so much better and really cheered me up, I will definitely be back again soon 🥰

Went for the loaded peri peri fries - was not disappointed! Came in when it first opened and went for mild chicken, but thought it was too mild so went hot...blew my head off! Absolutely loved it, so much flavour, chips were cooked lovely. Really good portion size. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Very clean and lovely atmosphere.

Staff is friendly but they definitely need better training, loads of items unavailable, waiting time horrible, after ordering few items was unavailable… taste of mango and lime chicken was like cheap perfumes from Lidl … really bad … salad for over £7 was disgusting as well. Pepsi taste like chlorine fizzy water… we are really disappointed for over £30… Also chicken has a hairs on skin …

Nestled on the north side of the Auld Brig, River Cottage is a delightful Indian restaurant that promises an explosion of flavors with every dish. From classic favorites like Pakoras and Tikka to more adventurous options such as Lahorie Karahi, this eatery caters to all palates. Diners rave about the well-balanced spice levels in their buffet offerings, which include tantalizing starters like chicken pakora and vegetable pakora.
I stay 20 yards away from this new Indian and only just tonight decided we would give it a go. Firstly I love an Idian as long as it is fresh and tasty I look for a party in my mouth. I decided to try something I have never tried before and OMG I was so happy with the reslult I ordered Lahorie Karahi and it had so much flavour with fresh Coriander to finish it off along with this I had the Pashwari Nan it wasnt the best nan I have had I profer a more sweeter stickier nan however the added coconut flavour was nice. Ayr India has been my favourite Indian in Ayr since day one really untill now RIVER COTTAGE you have a new life long customer. One added note is when I collected my order I was greeted so pleasently also added 2 popodoms and a lovely mango chutney to my order. My wife had the Lamb pasanda which she thought was brilliant she would without doubt order the dish again. Review Time 25minutes exactly what was said when ordered 5 stars Food 5 stars Service 5 stats HIGHLY RECOMEND!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic meal and staff. The dishes are so fresh and full of flavour, you can tell the chef has a real passion. The staff catered to our needs and the Madras is the stand out dish. Definitely worth a try. We travel 10 miles to get a takeaway. Best in the area by far!

Had dinner here last week with my cousin and his wife. Absolutely delicious. Portions generous, service excellent. Money wise, extremely reasonable compared to other Indian restaurants in town. People do not know what they are missing by not frequenting this restaurant. Personally I cannot wait to return, but will have to starve myself first to enjoy their portions.

We use your restaurant regularly but last night was absolutely shocking!…you knew there was 13 of us coming for a meal! Service was absolutely appalling from the kitchen. Food coming out in drips and drabs…making lots of mistakes, having to be asked several times where peoples orders were, …really really poor. Your food is delicious but when I raised my concerns your answer is the staff..no staff are lovely…you need to be more organised..you then say you were actually going to tell me to go elsewhere the night before our booking as you knew you couldn’t cope !!..seriously!!??…..please please sort this out !
Shirley F — Google review
I had the buffet lunch today 9/9/20. The food was well cooked and had enough kick without being overpowered by chilli powder, which in my humble opinion, destroys the ability of the taste buds to detect the individual spices used during the cooking process. Three starters were on offer, chicken pakora, vegetable pakora and chicken tikka. I sampled all three and they were spot on, having a flavoursome balance of spices! Main meals available were chicken korma, chicken balti and lamb curry. This time I settled for the lamb curry and chicken balti along with rice and nan bread. The lamb in the curry was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth. The chicken balti had a superb taste, with individual flavours coming through, coriander being one of them. If I remember correctly it was £6.95 a head, which is excellent value, especially if you are of a mind to pack in as much grub as possible. I must confess, I had to raise the white flag after only one round! I’ll be back in the very near future, as I found the food and service to be first class. Oh, last thing to remember, if you wish to drink alcohol with your meal, please bring it along as it’s not sold in house. I’m assuming this is due to the absence of a drinks license. On the plus side you’re going save a small fortune, as we all know it’s expensive to purchase alcohol at restaurant prices.
Derek W — Google review
Really enjoyed the sharing starter and chicken jalfrazi, the wife had the chicken butter handi which I really liked, good size portions and staff were very attentive. Went at 6pm Sunday night the place was dead, strange. Will be back.
Roy J — Google review
Food was ok but when you wait for 2 hours and then they can’t deliver all of your order it’s disappointing. I was promised the rest of my order would be sent out but I’m still waiting so that lets you know what they think of their customers. Poor to say the least, you won’t be seeing any more of my money.

During my recent culinary adventure, I had the pleasure of dining at Pizzaioli Italian eatery, a charming spot that truly captures the essence of Italy. Upon arrival with friends, we were promptly seated and greeted by friendly staff who made us feel right at home. The menu offered a delightful selection, and our drinks arrived in no time, followed closely by our pizzas.

We came as a group of three, and right at the entrance we were immediately offered a suitable table for four. We were given the menus straight away, and communication with the staff was extremely pleasant. We ordered two pizzas and a dish for the child. Our drinks were brought very quickly, and the pizzas arrived shortly after as well. The taste was good — the dough was very airy, the toppings were tasty, but on the chicken pizza the meat was a bit dry; it could use some sauce. For dessert, we had tiramisu and ice cream for the child. The tiramisu was excellent — moderately sweet and with just the right amount of coffee flavor. The bill and payment were processed very quickly. Definitely tasty — I recommend it.

Amazing global inspired food. The bao buns are the best I have ever had, specifically the crispy chicken ones. They definitely pack a bit of heat, but with the chicken and coleslaw, it creates perfectly balanced flavour. The fries are flavourful and crispy. Not only was the sticky toffee pudding very tasty, but unlike most I have had, it was very light and airy. An amazing atmosphere and the server was excellent. The decor added to the ambiance.

We booked quite last minute but the team couldn’t have been more helpful from start to finish. I can be quite pernickety about details but nothing was too much trouble, they were so kind, patient and accommodating throughout. A special shout-out to our girl, Danni, who truly went above and beyond to make the day perfect for us. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was faultless and everything ran perfectly. Had an absolutely delicious lunch here today with my husband! Our server June was just so very lovely. She was attentive and friendly, nothing was too much for her and she really made our visit wonderful! The food was super tasty and really reasonably priced for the quality and size of the portions. We will be back - thanks again June! Lovely visit xx

We love staying at the Chestnuts and return every year. Our favourite room is huge and has a very large and comfy bed. The owner and staff are welcoming and genuinely interested in creating a great experience. The restaurant and bar are warm and friendly and weve enjoyed every meal. I could happily retire to the Chestnuts and stay all year.

This review relates to the restaurant only... With lots of 5 star reviews we had high expectations - but our experience was closer to 4 stars - good in parts, not so great in others. Service spot-on. Food arrived quickly. Starters good. Deserts good. Main courses - so-so. From the dishes we ate: Thai curry - a little bland Cajun chicken overcooked and dry - served with sauted vegetables - one small piece of carrot, one small piece of courgette, tiny piece of broccoli. Goulash - lamb tender but lacking in taste. Sorry guys, this price point demands more.

The restaurant is praised for its attentive staff, authentic Thai cuisine, and revamped menu. Visitors have commended the rich flavors of dishes such as Thai green curry, massalam curry, and pad Thai chicken and prawn. The restaurant's genuine Thai staff contribute to the authentic taste of the food, which has been described as reminiscent of Thailand itself.
First time trying @Home at the weekend, and it didn't disappoint. Really nice staff with a nice atmosphere and by far the best Thai food in Ayrshire! I'm looking forward to going back again to try more on their menu. Highly recommend the chicken massaman with sticky rice.

Second time using @home Thai while visiting Ayr...Had their Massaman chicken curry with sticky rice as my main..For starters I opted for the salt and pepper ribs in batter. Both were delicious and highly recommend..Advise to book in advance if looking to use at the weekend to avoid disappointment.

Have been here a few times and the food is all amazing. Trying a new item each time we go. The staff are all amazing and there is one lady who reminds me of being in Thailand and just having a giggle with the customers The price is slightly more then I would expect being in Ayr and portion sizes are not that bad Cocktails are worth a go as well

Delicious food and very friendly and accommodating staff. We had a young baby with us and they couldn't have been more helpful or considerate. The restaurant was quiet when we were there (a Monday evening), but lovely and comfortable with nice décor. Food was served quickly and the portion sizes were just right.

As always, the staff were so lovely! I phoned for a table and got seated straight away. I ordered the Dim Sum and Prawn shots followed by the Penang Beef with a side of coconut rice. We got a large takeaway here on Saturday night. The food was lovely, exactly what we ordered and very fresh. The service was excellent. We only waited about 25 mins, and the cleared a table for us to wait at. The portion size was huge, we got 2 meals out of it, so we were very happy. The restaurant looked and smelled amazing, will definitely try to eat in if we are here again.

This is the most amazing place and the food is magnificent and unique at the same time. Smallish restaurant and you do have to book it has become very popular very quickly. If in Ayr a must visit. My first dish mint and basil grilled peach salad, followed by Barbados marinaded lamb cutlets, mint yogurt and garlic vegetable rice. Have to say the cutlets melted in the mouth. Superb and totally delicious and the staff wonderful.

Had a quick stop in Ayr before heading the the boat. We stumbled across this place completely by accident and we weren’t disappointed. Luckily, because we were early, they were able to squeeze us in before a fully booked evening. The service was brilliant - friendly and efficient. The food was outstanding; the cauliflower and halibut were especially good and we were impressed with the portion size for small plates. We would have taken a photo but we ate it too quickly. 🐷 When we’re back in Ayr, we’ll definitely be coming again. ⭐️

This is a restaurant for diners who want something out of the ordinary. The menu is small but it is still difficult to choose because of the composition of the dishes. The quality of the food is excellent. My wife and I selected two dishes each which would not normally go together and shared them. It worked here. The staff are pleasantly attentive but not intrusive. The atmosphere is just right, a quiet buzz. We loved it.

Amazing staff and beautiful menu! Was super surprised by the vegan selections, some of the tastiest food we’ve ever had. Staff also went out their way and got a birthday card for my boyfriend. Great experience.
A F — Google review
Went for a birthday dinner last week, easily one of the nicest meals out I've ever had. The dishes are described as 'tapas' but one plate is easily enough for two people to share. I went with a party of 3 and we got around 8 plates between us - other people may need less, but we are a greedy bunch. Either way, sharing so many plates at once is a really fun way to eat out. Everything is ridiculously good quality for the money - for example, the cocktails were only £5.95 each, which is a steal for how well made they are. I tried a hazelnut White Russian for the first time, which was delicious. Definitely something I'll try (and probably fail) to emulate at home. Our food highlights were the carbonara (made without cream, the real deal!), the scallops and the lamb, but everything else was great too. Even the side dish of hand cut chips - probably one of the most basic items on the menu - went above and beyond our expectations. Staff all very friendly and welcoming too. I can't wait to come back!

Beautiful hotel. We ate in the restaurant with a stunning view over the iconic bridge. Service was good. Food is just ok. Sunday roast included beef that was overcooked and chewy. The rest was nice, although not a huge serving. Desserts were much the same story, with the fudge coupe nice but lacking an exceptional edge. For the view and interior it’s worth a visit though.

Brig O’Doon House Hotel was the most perfect venue for our wedding day! From start to finish, the team were amazing — so attentive, organised, and genuinely caring. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and everything ran so smoothly. The setting itself is absolutely stunning, and the atmosphere on the day was just magical. Our guests are still talking about how beautiful everything was. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate our special day — thank you to everyone at Brig O’Doon for making it truly unforgettable! 💕

My wife and I went for our anniversary meal on late Wednesday evening, the decor and furnishings were fantastic. Requested a nice table for our evening - they amazed us with corner table with the beautiful landscaping and views. The staff were so kind and welcoming with there suggestions, the food came very quick within 15mins and mains came just after. Would definitely recommended to go for a bite to eat or even a drink at their amazing bar/lounge. Even gave us a beautiful wee desert to wish us a happy anniversary. Food was exceptional and the price was good for the location and quality. Haggis crepe was an amazing starter, MUST TRY!

We got married at the Brig o Doon hotel this summer. It was the perfect day from start to finish. Every member of the team were outstanding and were on hand for anything we needed. Lyndsey was our wedding coordinator on the day and she made sure everything ran smoothly. She was calm and made us feel at ease during our day. The venue is so beautiful. The food was excellent, from the canapes to our wedding meal. I wish I could do it all over again. We will definitely be back to the Brig o Doon for dinner and to reminisce on our perfect day.
Amy M — Google review
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much bother for them. In fact they went that wee bit extra without being asked which was a breath of fresh air compared with some other hotels we have stayed in. The food was exceptional as was the atmosphere in the main dining room…the decor and lighting is very “Burnsesque”, and you could imagine either Rabbie or Tam o’Shanter wandering in for a bite. I am disabled, but there are lifts in the hotel and everything is very accessible, so it’s easy to get around. Staff are very mindful toward those of us less mobile and it was nice that this seemed very natural, rather than feeling as if I was a bother. If there was one criticism, it would be the lack of parking at the actual hotel site. However, if you call the hotel directly they will give you the best advice to suit your needs. I did this and they were very accommodating. We will definitely be staying at the hotel again.

Went for a meal, good selection of dishes on offer at reasonable prices. We had mains, desert & wine, all good. Since the refurbishment the decor is beautiful, and service very good, even though there was a big wedding on at the same time Would highly recommend for a meal.

Had a lovely meal in the tales restaurant with my girlfriend tonight. I had the beef bao buns to start which were delicious. We then got our mains. I had the beef wellington and my girlfriend had mac and cheese. All was good apart from my mashed potato was undercooked and was hard inside. Bit disappointing when paying £35 for a main meal. My stay was really good. The location is great for the centre of Ayr and having parking is a bonus. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel uses a self check-in system which initially I wasn't too sure about, but was actually straightforward and easy to use. So, overall it was a very comfortable stay and the price was very good as well. I would definitely stay here again. A far better stay than the Premier Inn and the Travel Lodge, with a better location and price.
Graeme S — Google review
Update. Since leaving this review, the hotel management have said that they are amending their policy to no longer take a security deposit. Well done Kylestrome for listening and taking action. Quite rare these days and much appreciated. Based on this I wouldn't hesitate to stay again. A nice enough and well positioned hotel. Main complaint is that this hotel requires a £100 refundable or £11 non refundable security deposit. I didn't notice this till after booking and on arrival at the hotel. It's buried in the fine print of booking. Com and not mentioned at all on the hotel's Web site at the time of my stay. So....no choice, but I was very unhappy having never been required to give this in any hotel in my 45 years of traveling. It's an unstaffed hotel, so no-one to talk to about it on arrival, and no way are you getting your room access code without paying in advance. Then, the stress of wondering whether it would indeed be refunded, and having to check my credit card account for it every few days really detracted from my stay. By the way, the hotel says they may take up to two weeks to refund it in the check in process. Just not a customer focussed approach and I wouldn't stay again solely for that reason.
PAUL — Google review
STAFF ARE SO LOVELY AND HELPFUL!!! Cannot express that enough! Room was cosy and clean - however I don't believe our air con worked, the switch for the bathroom fan was literally above the door where I could hardly reach?? And the bathroom lights were automatic - so turned off mid shower 😂 BUT all in all it was easy to access, good safe parking, friendly people, clean and cosy.

I arrived at the hotel to find that the air conditioning was on, even though the outside temperature was -1°C. We stopped here for dinner on our way back to catch a ferry to Belfast. I can honestly say that this place serves the most amazing fish and chips - honestly the best I can remember! The batter was light and crispy and the fish was melt in the mouth. Everyone in our party agreed that their food was great quality - the chips even tasted like potato! That may sound bizarre but back in Northern Ireland the chips aren't as great as that. Its was all very reasonably priced too.

Very disappointed i mean cleanness and hygiene should be top priority. What if i wouldn’t saw the hairs and would eaten them as well. 🤢

Large chips & single steak pie £9.90. After waiting for he chips I was expecting good things, sadly this wasn't the case. Didn't ask which night they changed the oil, didn't taste like recently as the pie had an aftertaste that I wasn't expecting ( binned) Perhaps I landed unlucky on my visit based on previous reviews, needless to say a good business is consistent, sadly wasn't the case for me. £4.95 is ridiculous for a large chips when you only receive two potatoes at best.

The haggis is top class. The best I've had at a chippy. The curry sauce is very mediocre and the fish and chips are a tiny tiny portion for the price. Marcos round the corner is much better in my opinion and better value but they were closed. Would give it another try but its just okay overall.

Open daily until 10 PM, it's an ideal stop after a day of exploring or attending events like the Ayr Airshow. Guests rave about the light and crispy batter on their fish, paired with perfectly cooked chips and delightful mushy peas.
Ordered the gluten free fish & chips and mushy peas - first of all it's amazing to someone from the US that they have a dedicated 100% gluten-free frier that is clearly marked and staff were very friendly and aware of cross-contamination issues - they answered my questions & even showed me the frier. Fish was excellent - 10 out of 10, good quality fish, fried just right & light, crispy batter. Chips & peas also good. Very clean kitchen & seating area. Portion size was very big - picture below does not show all the fries.

7.95 for a portion of macaroni, which would have been fair enough if it wasn't a kids portion!! I'd have gave zero stars if I could have. I know prices have increased, but surely an adult portion is still warranted, I feel very ripped off and definitely won't be a return customer. To give a perspective on size, it's in a chip roll box and half the size of mu Greg's cake.

Our friends have recently moved to Patna, we wanted somewhere local to visit for brunch so the four of us went to The Secret Garden on 3/12/24. We all had a lovely time. Two of us had the Grand Full Scottish, my wife had the French toast and our friend had the Eggs (Royale) Benedict. The food was fantastic! The coffee was great and thank you for introducing me to a dirty chai latte. Never had one before… it was yum. The atmosphere was wonderful and the service was perfect. Food and atmosphere fab. Wait time was very bad and once our food came 45minutes after we ordered!- the waitress attempted to give our full Scottish breakfasts to the table next to us one of whom had also ordered full English but as I noted we had been there twenty mins longer... His wife had ordered a butty and our full English x 2 had no eggs as we requested. Once we got the food we was impressed with taste however waitress didn't ask if we wanted sauce or come back to ask if it was all OK or if we needed another drink. We called in to this place on the way to denure castle from Ayr. I would go again but I'd hope to not wait as long. I appreciate it's busy on a Sunday morning but it felt we was forgotten... Even a large group. Who came in after us got thier burgers and fries before my full Scottish. Maybe service breakfast only until 12. So chef isn't having to make burgers etc at 11.15am. I still left a 10% tip As the waitress made a mistake which was retrified and we all Do this so I didn't want her to feel awful. Wait time was the issue. ❤️

A great cafe with lots of tables, some outside. Brilliant service. Today, at the end of July, we ate from the breakfast menu whic has a good selection.

Went with the family for lunch. One of those places where everything was just ok.....not awful, not great. The food was plentiful (loads of chips) and tasty, but not scrumptious. Prices reasonable. Felt the only thing that let it down was the decor, which is just my personal preference. It felt more like a cafe, although advertised outside the front door as a coffee shop. It could have been more cosy. (Door open constantly to the ouside area, where staff were going in and out all the time), which meant we felt cold. We would have hung around longer for another drink & cake after our meal, if it been a cosier environment to sit in.

Had many special occasion brunches here as the environment is so welcoming and sweet. I love bringing new people here to introduce them to classic Ayr spots! The cafe is right next to a walk along the river for before or after your meal too.

Restaurant
Dobbies Garden Centre Ayr is a well-maintained and family-friendly chain retailer offering a wide range of garden products, including plants, gardening accessories, and DIY supplies. The center also features a notable aquarium and stocks supplies for home tanks. During the holiday season, it showcases an array of Christmas trees, lights, and decorations. Additionally, visitors can explore a clothing shop with quality items and enjoy dining at the cozy restaurant surrounded by lush greenery.
Dobbies Garden centre has a great selection of plants as well as house decorations. If you want to have a beautiful garden you can find all your luxurious needs here. The clothing shop inside also has good quality items. The restaurant looks very cosy inside with a lot of plants around it. The waitress was outstanding, and the food was exactly what I was looking for. We had our breakfast here. We were so pleased with the service. We were very impressed with the quality of the food and desserts we received. The restaurant also has a great cake selection. If you are passing by this beautiful town in Scotland, called Ayr make sure that you have a drink and food here. I can highly recommend The Dobbies Garden centre.

I turned up at Dobbies just as their cafe was closing today. I was so impressed by Ron and Hannah who even though they were almost packed up, treated me with kindness. They were friendly, customer focused and a credit to Dobbies!

Hardly believable but at 1pm the restaurant had only one soup left and they had no baked potatoes. Yes, this Ayrshire food outlet had run out of baked potatoes!!!! Worth a look at things Mr Manager.

Plants looked good and nice and healthy, however a little too expensive for me and other clients were saying the same thing when we visited. A great shopping experience offering a vast selection of goods. Again, some are a little too expensive for me. A nice cafe with an exceptabile offering of cakes and snacks. Sorry no photos.

Dobies Garden Centre in Ayr is decent in terms of layout and variety, but overall it falls short — especially when compared to independent garden centres in the area. The prices are noticeably high, and unfortunately, the quality doesn’t match. Many of the plants and outdoor stock look like they need a lot more attention and care, which makes the premium pricing hard to justify. It’s a convenient spot if you’re nearby, but for better value and healthier plants, you’re often better going to one of the independents.

It was my Wife's 75 Birthday & we went to Dobbies Restaurant for fish & chips. What a mistake. Fish was cold & batter was a hard chew. It had to be sitting on the counter for a long time. Now I know w why people don't finish their chips.Give credit to the server as she asked the cook (Certainly not a chef) if she should serve the fish & he just shrugged & told her to go ahead. It certainly is not a 5 star restaurant but it would struggle for a 1 star. Couldn't get back to return the food as the line was backed up. Not sure if I should keep my membership.
Charles D — Google review
Very disappointing visit to the cafe yesterday afternoon. Every single table in the conservatory had dirty dishes which weren't cleared for the entirety of our 40 minutes there. I can understand that the staff are very busy however this is very off putting. We are regular visitors and have absolutely no complaints about the staff who are very hardworking, helpful and cheerful even when under great pressure. They are lovely. However a few more staff available for table clearing duties would make a considerable difference. And £1 for a two fingered KitKat? Really?

The hotel's refined restaurant offers an impressive menu featuring dishes like slow-cooked steak and ale pie, as well as mouthwatering burgers. Diners rave about the attentive service provided by knowledgeable staff who are eager to enhance your culinary experience.
We stayed for a short break in a twin room, we had a view over the entrance from the first floor. Breakfast was included and was made to fresh to order, I had the full Scottish and it was a treat. In my opinion this is a really good location to stay when visiting Ayr and there is free parking on site. The hotel is walking distance from the sea front or the town centre and there are lovely gardens to the rear. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant on arrival, there is a good choice on the menu and our meals and service were perfect 👌 This was our third visit here and we look forward to our next. Many thanks to owners and staff for looking after us during the storm conditions. You were all marvellous xx 👍🏼

This is such a lovely hotel! The decor is quirky but well kept. The staff couldn’t be more helpful. The room we had was up the very top and it was so peaceful and comfortable. The bed was very comfy and everything was so clean and tidy. The meal was great and they had a good range of gluten free options. You just have to ask. It’s within walking distance to the beach and some shops. Would def recommend ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Many Thanks Burns Family xxx

After an initial frosty reception on arrival, things soon changed. We had a lovely room a bit dated but it suited the hotel. Everything clean and fresh. Very attentive staff. Loved the gardens. Drew was so happy to discover sausages for dogs on the breakfast menu. He wants to go back again soon. Great location near town and beach. Yes would recommend. Peaceful and quiet just a perfect break

Is a nice place but bit dated. Shower is a explanation needed because power switch was in the entrance Hal of the room and hard to find so would be great to have explanation of technical equipment. TV turns on during the night on high volume. Looked for a timer setting but wasn’t on. Happened both nights at the same time

We had an impromptu Tuesday lunch here. Traditional dinning area overlooking the gardens. 2 courses for under £12 and big portions. Great value. Steak pie was delicious.

Awful experience at this hotel. The Chinese girl at the reception was particularly rude and unhelpful — very unprofessional behavior that set a negative tone for the whole stay. The beer at the bar was clearly watered down. Overall, not worth the money. Avoid this place.

Chinese restaurant
Ruby 7 Days in Sandgate is a Chinese restaurant located at The Waterfront on South Harbour. It offers a pleasant dining experience with a patio that overlooks the water leading to the sea. If you're craving Cantonese cuisine, this place is worth trying. Additionally, Ayr India is another option if you're in the mood for curry.
A group of us (6) all had fantastic meals in here tonight. And we enjoyed the traditional Chinese service. I don’t live in Ayr but, if I did this would definitely be my local - I gave it a 4/5 for atmosphere - as it was quiet however, we bring our own atmosphere. And hopefully after this review it gets busier as it certainly deserves to be. People don’t realise the real gems 💎 they have on their doorsteps. And we must support them to keep our streets alive. Thanks 🙏 for a great meal and keep up the great work 😄👍❤️

I don't throw out 5 star reviews at all, however on this occasion 5 stars is well deserved. Spot on service, clean and appealing and courses brought out quickly. Excellent 2 course meal, £20 per person for 2 courses with 2 drinks. Delightful House Specials. Highly recommended

We enjoyed a delicious meal in your resteraunt last night. The food was excellent and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The owners were very warm and welcoming! Thank you 🙂

Really disappointed. Reading reviews we were swayed away from our regular Chinese but unfortunately wont be back. Asked for no veg in special fried rice but spring onions over the top, now with someone who is autistic it is hard to then convince them to eat it even when picked off. Ordered a chicken curry and rice but was given a chicken fried rice which looked horrible. Ribs were not very appetising either. Called to get correct chicken curry sent out but was advised could be up to 45 minutes when already waited an hour for order to be sent incorrectly. For the price, there is definitely takeaways in the area that provide better food and a cheaper price also.

The spring rolls and BBQ ribs we had to start were very good, nice spicy dipping sauce. Sweet and Sour Chicken Hong Kong Style and Szechuan Chicken, both with rice to follow were perfect. Best we have had in a long time. Tea and coffee was basic but adequate. We will be back.

Pretty average, spare ribs starter was minimal, mains reasonable , I will be trying the other Chinese restaurants in Ayr before coming back here.

Smokehouse in Ayr is a popular and welcoming spot that's easy to find, and even welcomes dogs. The food is described as mouth-watering and delicious, with the burgers being a standout item on the menu. The homemade sauces are highly praised, and customers can even purchase them to take home. The meats menu offers amazing options like brisket and ribs, while the desserts, such as the biscoff cheesecake, are said to be huge portions.
The best burgers, right in Ayr! Smash burgers are my favourite, and this place does them brilliantly. Fresh, perfectly cooked, with many different topping combos to choose from. Their homemade sauces are not only awesome, but are available bottled if you want to take them home (guys, you DO). Great service as well; the chef came out to talk to us about the food, his smokers and upcoming promotions. Mr Smokehouse, this was a fantastic experience! 🙂
Toren F — Google review
You won’t leave here hungry! Food is amazing. The meats menu is amazing, brisket and ribs is a must. The burgers are also brilliant. Then you need to be sure you left room for dessert.. the biscoff cheesecake portion was huge. The guy serving told us they only do huge in the smokehouse. Best place to eat in Ayr if you’re starving. Staff are nice and the place is really clean. Highly Recommended.

Went with my partner on a whim and where do I begin, 1st class service and food to match - thoroughly enjoyed everything about this place. We went for the 2 meats option (we're both big eaters!) and we left stuffed and raving about it to our family and friends! Also a special mention for the music played - completely our taste!

I'm honestly lost for words to what to say. But what a place and the food was out of this world. Absolutely delicious!! Day spent in Ayr and easiest place to find also welcoming dogs too. So welcoming and friendly. Interactive with my wee dog and my children. I did phone before we turned up we got a table for 5 within 15 mins. Was quiet but all the tables were mostly reserved so would say it's a popular place for the evening. The food was on another level mouth watering, delicious and was like heaven. Never have I ever tasted food like this before. The prices were incredible for the food we had I'd defo be happier to be paying more. 5 meals 2 courses under £80. I really don't know what else to add but if you visit you will not be disappointed I can promise you that. Highly reccommend and I will happily drive an hour again just to dine here. 5* plus for me.

You won't be disappointed! Just had the "Tombstone" burger and OMG it was delicious. Family also enjoyed their meal too, ribs and pizza gorgeous. Will definitely return, lovely, friendly staff and amazing foods.

Was hesitant at first regarding prices and portion sizes. Sizes are more than perfect for the price. All meats soft and tender although the dry rub on the wings wasn't to my liking but that's a personal preference. I got the 3 meat pit plate and couldn't fault it. All spot on. Cajun wings as a side.

What can I say!! So good..... piece of advice, make sure you haven't eaten for at least 12hrs beforehand, otherwise you'll never finish.... the portions are big......

The perfect meal here tonight. Was the best combination for us. We often miss out on our favourite american/ bbq type food as our daughter won't eat it. Well she got her favourite too with a massive pizza. I had the Pit Plate with brisket and ribs. Delicious!

Food and drink
My fiance and I came here for dinner for the first time on Friday night, to celebrate his birthday. Firstly, I'm so glad I booked in advance, it was very busy. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table straight away and presented with various menus. For those that haven't been before, the decor is beautiful! Very warm, comfortable but very chic and modern. We encountered an issue (apparently a problem in the kitchen, not sure if our starters just got forgotten about) however, what was great was the way the staff, particularly our server dealt with it. Despite being incredibly busy, he noticed without us raising the issue, that we had been waiting a long time for our starters and he came over to ask if we had got them yet. He immediately dealt with this issue and offered us both a drink on the house, which was a really welcomed gesture. We were kept updated and checked on to ensure we were enjoying the rest of our meal the whole time, and there was no real issue with waiting. The menu choices are very extensive and would say for me, one of the best in Ayr. There is also an extensive and varied drinks list, suited to all budgets! The food itself was incredible. I personally had the steak and ale pie and couldn't eat half the pie, the steak was neverending! I would loved to have tried a dessert but we were both absolutely stuffed by the end of the main course. I can't recommend the restaurant enough. All of the staff were wonderful, the food was incredible and I feel it is excellent value for money. A true rival for the so called best restaurant in Ayr...

We had dinner here 27th June 2025. My wife had the chicken liver pate which was very nice, I had the west coast scallops which were delicious, albeit , I thought it was a very small portion. My wife had the sizzling prawn fajitas which was delicious and I had the mixed seafood spaghetti which was HUGE and excellent. We also had a side of truffle and parmesan fries which were also nice. The one thing I will say is we had a bottle of Chardonnay which was lovely but at £38 a bottle I thought was quite steep. We were served well with all the staff and management and all in all we had a lovely evening.

Absolutely amazing food and hospitality from The Stravaig. The staff, the drinks, the food and the interior are all top drawer. Fantastic visit to The Stravaig. The decor is stunning, and staff were very attentive and knowledgeable. Cocktails and food were exceptional, highly recommended the Scallop starter and the duck main course, some of the best food I've had in a long time, couldn't fault anything.

I contacted management beforehand as we had a gift voucher that had expired to check if any possibility of extending and they couldn’t have been more helpful. Dined on a Saturday night. We’ve been a good few times now and it’s never disappointed. This time we both went for the beef fajitas which were superb - the beef was so tender and cooked to perfection. My husband had a lovely cheese board for dessert whilst I had the affagato - both were 10/10. Staff were great and the restaurant had a lovely buzz.

Nestled in the heart of Ayr, Cafe 51 is a charming spot that beautifully combines rustic decor with a warm atmosphere. With its dark oak tables and cozy booths set against an exposed stone wall, it’s the perfect place to unwind. Unlike typical coffee shops, Cafe 51 offers both lunch and dinner options, along with convenient takeaway services. Their ever-changing scone of the day adds an element of surprise for pastry lovers!
Whenever my family is in town, we’re regulars at C51. We love their coffees, the friendly people, and their scones. Recently tried the apple cinnamon, treacle, and plain scones—each has been absolutely amazing. They are made fresh, so have the perfect texture and pair wonderfully with butter and jam.

Local favourite. Great choice of food at any time of day and good quality. Decent portion sizes. Can be very busy, even on a Monday morning, which can sometimes make the place feel quite crowded and cramped, depending on where you are seated, though better than no atmosphere. At peak times you can be looking at a short wait for a table. Staff are friendly and attentive. Bills are paid at the counter which can be crowded at times as they also do fantastic takeaway selections. Also has free WiFi and in the drier months, there's the option to sit at tables out front. From a personal perspective the only downside is lack of parking though many just seem to park outside along the main road.

Very happy with my experience here. Food was wonderful and service was fantastic for as we walked in I could tell that they were just finished clearing tables and had many groups walk in behind us, but unphased the server took care of all of us equally. Very quaint little town with the Burns cottage as high lite of their existence.
