Baunei in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Baunei, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Baunei attracts visitors with its dramatic mix of limestone mountains and sheer cliffs dropping into the clear waters of the Gulf of Orosei. The area is known for spectacular coves such as Cala Goloritzé and Cala Mariolu, often reached by boat or hiking trails. Inland, the Supramonte plateau and routes like the challenging Selvaggio Blu appeal to hikers and climbers. The village itself offers a quieter base with traditional Sardinian atmosphere and views over the surrounding landscape.
With favorites like Cala Goloritzé, Tomà Ristorante, and Rifugio Cooperativa Goloritzè, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like L'Olivastro Bar and Ristorante Punto di Ristoro su Neulagi so you can get the best taste of Baunei while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Cala Luna is a small, secluded beach nestled in a cove surrounded by rocky headlands. The turquoise waters and caves add to its allure. It's located north of Cala Fuili, the last accessible beach by car from Cala Gonone, and serves as the starting point for a hike to Cala Luna. Nearby attractions include the Grotte del Bue Marino (Sea Oxen Grotto), which are renowned caves accessible by boat.
This place has clear water and beautiful views. We came in the beginning of May, water is still cold. But when you will see this you will want to get in. Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful. Little advise get the small boat, not the cruise.

Very beautiful beach with unique landscape and cows at the back of the beach. I really disappointed that didn’t visit the caves but hopefully next time. Overall highly recommended to visit!!
Sebastian W — Google review
Amazing beach! It’s crowded because of the boat tours but you can cross to the caves where it’s much better
Kristin A — Google review
Walked to the beach some years ago- this year only seen from boat. It's a wonderful one, but crowded. Long. The caves are impressive - and the back part is lovely too!
Eric B — Google review
It's not the easiest place to reach — you either hike for a couple of hours or take a boat (30 euro)— but it’s 100% worth it. The beach itself is stunning: soft sand, clear turquoise water, and big caves right along the shore that give you shade when the sun gets too strong. The view looks like a postcard, but real. No loud crowds, just nature and peace.
Olga Y — Google review
What an experience! The views of the beach and caves are amazing, the rock formations are incredible, great for some pictures!
Shaun A — Google review
Stunning beauty and unique natural features. It's characterized by its crystal-clear turquoise waters, white sand, and imposing limestone cliffs and caves.
Oana — Google review
We paid €60 per person to reach Cala Luna by a large boat — and while the price is on the higher side, the destination itself is definitely worth the trip. The water is crystal clear and incredibly inviting, perfect for swimming and relaxing. However, the experience is slightly spoiled by the condition of the beach cave walls — they’re covered in scratches and graffiti, which takes away from the natural beauty of the place. It’s unfortunate that such a stunning spot hasn’t been better preserved. The beach was also quite crowded, which made it feel less like a hidden gem and more like a tourist hotspot. Still, if you manage to come early in the day or off-season, you might catch it at its best. Cala Luna has amazing potential, and with a bit more care and fewer people, it could easily be one of the most magical places in Sardinia.

Marina di Baunei and Santa Maria Navarrese is a charming coastal area in eastern Sardinia, offering a picturesque marina with all necessary services. The small but well-maintained port provides immediate assistance upon arrival, making it a sailor's dream. Nearby, Santa Maria Navarrese offers various information points for diving excursions and boat tours along the stunning coast. The area is also known for its rock climbing opportunities and proximity to supermarkets, restaurants, and gelaterias.
Took a boat tour of coast from here. Excellent! Incredibly beautiful coast--and I'm from No. California. Best cappuccino we had and lovely service. They picked us up and dropped us off at our house. I left a pair of shoes on the boat and they delivered them to me the next day. The beaches they take you to are Rocky so don't wear sandals or water shoes where the rocks can get into them. Best thing is a pair of sneakers y just ou don't mind getting wet.

Amazing and cozy marina just before the Orosei Gulf. Very well maintained, clean, and full services. Nice Bar and very good restaurant. No gasoline. A perfect rest after a long sailing.

Beach
The primary shoreline, Spiaggia di Santa Maria Navarrese, is an unspoiled expanse of gilded sand, ideal for sunbathing and taking a dip. The transparent waters create an excellent location for snorkeling and aquatic pursuits. This stunning beach boasts crystal-clear and warm water towards the end of June, making it an idyllic choice for July and August. There is a beachside bar available with accessible restroom facilities.
Visited on September 9th, 2024. Given that it was off season for tourists, I really enjoyed my time here. The sea water was crystal clear and warm; the beach has small pebbles & rocks but it’s pretty comfortable. It’s a free public beach and you have restaurant nearby that offers ice cream; coffee and drinks. The boats do not come close to seashore which I thought was very nice especially for families with kids. The water does get deep fast so must be cautious especially those that don’t know how to swim. You can snorkel here! It does get windy too which is nice on how summer days. Has free parking nearby. Definitely recommend.
Eanca C — Google review
Free public beach with small peblesand some rocks. You have easy access to free parking and restaurants and terraces. There is also a large camping area and a small place to eat with tables in the shades given by the pine trees.
Ana M — Google review
A beautiful, clean, free public pebbled beach. Would recommend bringing swim shoes to walk along the beach. The water is so clear with hardly any waves. There are four places along the beach to rent chairs and umbrellas. We paid €23 for two chairs and an umbrella. Showers and a changing room were included. There is a lot of free parking nearby, too, and plenty of bars for food or drink.
Jessica P — Google review
A small beach right in the city with a paid and unpaid part. The beach is pebbly and there are many large stones on the bottom of the sea, which is not pleasant for swimming or playing in the water. There is a shady park by the beach and beach bars.
Daniel S — Google review
Overall very nice beach with beautiful, clean water. Not too much crowded even in July. Parking near. No WC, no shower.
Andriy Z — Google review
A beautiful beach. The water is clear and warm in the end of June. I think July and August is perfect. There is a bar on the beach with a fee toilet. There is small pebble on the beach but it is not sharp. The larger portion of the beach is very small pebble which is almost like sand. Very recommended.
Tetiana S — Google review
Great beach with quite a bit of space even if it’s crowded. Decent snorkeling. Rocks to jump off of a couple dozen meters off shore

Cala Sisine

Beach
Cala Sisine is a stunning beach located in the Golfo di Orosei, accessible only by boat or a long hike. The pristine waters and pebble beach make it an idyllic spot for nature lovers. Accessible via a 4x4 vehicle or a 9km walk, the path is rocky and requires sturdy footwear. During the summer, it remains tranquil until boats arrive from nearby areas, making it temporarily busy.
Amazing Beach, although the way down there is a bit too dusty for a normal car.
Manuel G — Google review
Nice beach, it should be much better if.not crowded, I wonder when it would because I have been in september. I super liked the snorkeling around very clear water on the north Bring your swimming shoes, they are required for better confort
Joe ( — Google review
Quite a pleasant beach, though definitely more on the rocky side. The downside is the constant flow of boats in high season, since that’s basically the main way to get here. On the plus side, just about 300 meters from the beach there’s a small bar and restaurant, so you can grab some water, have a beer, or get something to eat if you need a break. Even in peak season it didn’t feel unbearably crowded on the sand, so overall it turned out to be a really nice experience.
Karol K — Google review
One of my favourite beaches in Sardinia. We got there by boat as part of a boat tour, but you can also get there on foot via a hiking trail. Quite spacious, but definitely take a beach umbrella and lots of water especially if you're going in the summer.
Amer R — Google review
Beautiful beach with pebble stones
Diana M — Google review
A rocky beach that is absolutely nothing special. Overcrowded because of all the boats. It gets deep very near to the shore and it’s not a place where you can peacefully swim or relax
Kristina V — Google review
Cala Sisine is a wide beach where everyone can find their own spot. The shore is rocky, so water shoes are a must. We chose to reach it by car (not a 4x4), which turned out to be quite challenging on a very steep and stony road. From the parking area, it’s about a 40-minute walk to the beach on a pleasant flat trail. Along the way you’ll pass goats 😊and enjoy some truly stunning views.

Probably the best beach regarding space as it’s wide Still rocks on the beach and water and lots of people we’ve been to better beaches in Sardinia

Beaches
Cala Biriola is a stunning swimming spot nestled amidst the lush countryside and beautiful landscapes of Sardinia's east coast. The beach offers blue-green waters, sandstone cliffs, and a sea cave, making it an idyllic destination for relaxation and adventure. Popular activities include scuba diving, snorkeling in the clear waters, and trekking through the mountainous terrain surrounding the beach.
The most beautiful beach in the east coast. Only accessible by boat.
Nikola K — Google review
Really dangerous route, and it’s not well signposted. I was alone and got lost. Luckily (after almost having a panic attack), I met other people who were also lost, and together we managed to climb back up. It was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me. I recommend going by boat and not by hiking 😅
Liesa D — Google review
Stunning beach and look offs! We did the hike and I will say this was very strenuous for us, two people of average fitness. I now have a headache. You must download the map off of the All Trails app as there won’t be internet access and it’s easy to take a wrong turn. There are some parts of the hike that are quite daunting, like steep wooden ladders with big vertical drops. Not for those who have a fear of heights. Took us about 1.5-2hrs each way. The beach itself is so beautiful, with small and smooth white pebble rocks. Water shoes are ideal but not necessary. The water is unreal and the surrounding cliffs also look amazing. Seeing the cliffs and water from the hike down was awesome, but I would take a boat if I went again.
Fruitrollup — Google review
Please note that the trail to get to the beach will be hard and even dangerous for beginners. Impossible with kids or dogs, also you’ll need hiking shoes. If you’re good at hiking then it’s a trail with a great views and you should try it, but still note that there are pretty tough parts of the trail Download a map, there’ll be no internet. Also it’s better to use AllTrails map rather than the default route from the Organic Maps.
Anastasia D — Google review
It’s an outstanding beach - one of the best ones in Sardinia and probably in top 0.01% of the beaches in the world. It’s so beautiful to swim around and watch the wall composed of trees, rock, sand and other naturally formed beauties. If you step on the beach you need to pay but you can just swim around for free. Anchoring on a dinghy is medium difficulty and possible even without much experience. The beach is not super crowded as large commercial boats don’t stop here. I definitely recommend this one to stop at if you rent a dinghy or are on a boat
Alexey S — Google review
Unlike the other beaches in the area, the people from the community of Baunei who were “working” here the day we visited were lazy and rude. One young male worker couldn’t be bothered to help out in any small way to help prevent our small dinghy from drifting into a protected area while my passengers were disembarking. He simply decided to walk away when he had enough waiting for my friends to disembark our boat. As a new, and inexperienced driver, all I needed was a little assistance and a smile which doesn’t cost any money. Instead he left a bad impression. Coworker was also disinterested in providing any assurance and was more interested in getting back under their tent. Luckily, most Sardinians are very hard-working nice and helpful.
Joshua M — Google review
I hiked here solo in mid-September 2025 and there is no question on how beautiful the scenery and the beach is. Absolutely stunning. That being said, the trail can be seriously dangerous and life threatening if you go unprepared. Without the below, I wouldn’t attempt it: - downloaded map from AllTrails. You will most probably get lost without the AllTrails map as the path literally disappears at specific spots. (you can only download if you have a subscription. Without downloading you can’t follow the map as you will lose reception on the trail) - proper hiking shoes with good grip If you don’t have the above, try other beaches trails which are just as beautiful or even more, like Cala Luna, Mariolou, or Goloritze. It takes nearly 1.5 hours to get to Cala Biriala from the car park in Ololbisi trekking service and 1.5 hours to come back up.

Cala Goloritzé, located on the eastern coast of Sardinia, is a secluded paradise with a natural stone arch, towering cliffs, and emerald waters. Accessible via a scenic hiking trail, this beach offers stunning views of the coastline and a tranquil setting for swimming and sunbathing. The prominent Aguglia pinnacle adds to its unique charm. It appeals to adventurers, nature enthusiasts, and hikers seeking an off-the-beaten-path experience.
Clear water and you can go fishing if you are on a boat hire. Bring some proper stones beach shoes as it looks white in the photo but it hurts in the feet
Maria B — Google review
It is worth coming here with a ferry or a dinghy because this is one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever visit. The amount of people on the beach is not too overwhelming when I was there (around 11am). Would recommend taking the early boats here though.
Chanya P — Google review
I went on May 6, 2025. Got my reservation for the day online on Heart of Sardinia. Trek was not too long, people from all ages were on the trail. Most of the descent/ ascent is near the beach. Many people there that day but not overcrowded. Definitely have to bring your own water and food. This beach lives up to the hype, it’s amazing! Air temperature was high 70s/ low 80s, topping out at about 87 degrees with a few clouds. Clouds came in the afternoon and it rained for half an hour. I got rained on, on the way back. Water temperature was cool but many people swam in the ocean comfortably. I brought my own snorkel mask and enjoyed the variety of fish in the water.
Jchcmax — Google review
Beautiful beach! Make sure to book online in advance. Ticket is €7. Entrance between 7:30 am and 2 pm. Proper shoes needed, trail is not easy (3,5 km ~1,5 h one way). Free parking.
Radek E — Google review
Always wanted to go this beach - this year managed. Honestly it's very crowded and looks better from the boat than from the beach. The water is also "sandy" - there is beaches with more clear water! Even not far from it
Eric B — Google review
Absolutely incredible, great back drop for photos from the boat, too bad you couldn’t go to the beach. Glad we went!
Shaun A — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking! Cala Goloritzé is one of the most stunning beaches I’ve ever seen. The crystal-clear turquoise water, dramatic limestone cliffs, and peaceful atmosphere make it feel like a hidden paradise.
Adrian W — Google review
Beautiful tiny beach with insane water color. Parking: Su Pordettu camper parking lot Tickets: 7 eur pp, make sure you book your slot in advance, 250 people are allowed on the beach per day. The hike (4 km down hill, 4 km uphill, 500 m elevation gain) - downhill is already quite challenging (1,5 hours), the terrain is rocky, partially in shade. Go early, trail open from 7:30. - the hike back after a few hours on the sun and in the water is tough. Do not underestimate. Make sure to bring enough water and food for the whole day, there is nothing on the beach. Be prepared for the heat! It is worth the effort!

The menu offers delicious cocktails, including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, as well as tasty food with some vegan choices available.
Nice location with lots of shade and nice cold drinks. The Maradham (Sardinian take on pizza with potato flatbread) was very tasty! Great place to chill out on a hot day! The beach is directly in front, which is also very clean and refreshing to swim in!

Worst place in Italy! Piece of bread cut in half with a slice of cheese was called a panini. What was worse, was an attitude of the staff. Stay away, even if you know this is the only place around...
Filip J — Google review
We were there for a quick lunch during a trip, they had line issues with their pos card machine line, therefore we received, three times, a withdrawal of the amount to pay for the lunch, but, instead of expressing their embarassement for the inconvenience, they were verbally attacking us, being very rude. They also stated that in case the money would have been accidentally withdrawed we shouldn't complain cause the pending expenses would have been returned soon to our bank account. This was not the case, we had to wait for 10 days on one card and even more on the other. They blamed us for the choice of using our International cards. Such line issues on beach sites are totally understandable but they should just notify this and express the necessity they have to accept just cash payments, without being rude. Also the food quality was basic compared to' the extremely elevated price of it.

This must me the worst place to eat in Sardinia. The pasta was cooked to a point that it became rubbery. The fries where definitely cooked 2-3 times and the salad; I cannot describe how was possible to have such a bad taste. I canno’t believe I travelled to Italy to have the worst pasta of my life.

We had an amazing meal at Tomà! we didn’t have a booking and they were completely booked but found us a table for a drink and shortly after arranged a table for dinner! Very disappointing – overpriced and poor quality I recently ate here and was really let down. The steak was supposed to be 400 grams but looked more like 250 grams. I asked for it to be cooked medium, but it came out well done and overcooked. For the high price, the quality of the food was terrible. To make things worse, we were charged for bread for four people, even though we only ate one piece. It felt like they were just trying to overcharge us. Overall, the food was not worth the money. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

Toma Restaurant is a seafood restaurant located in the marina of Santa Maria Navarrese, a small town on the eastern coast. It is overlooking the marina and the terrace offers a great view. I recently had the opportunity to dine at Toma Restaurant, and I was not convinced by the ordered dishes . I started my meal with the spaghetti alle vongole, which was perfectly cooked and had a generous amount of fresh clams. For my main course, I had the grilled sea bass, which was moist and flaky, and came with a delicious lemon sauce. I finished my meal with the tiramisu, which was light and creamy. The service at Toma Restaurant was nice. Our waiter was helpful to change table from the terrace to inside. Unfortunately, strong winds prevented us to sit outside and have a decent dinner. Overall, I had a medium experience at Toma Restaurant. The food was lacking punch and it gave us the feeling of many frozen products. Compared to other restaurants we have been it was not convincing.. The service was nice. . I would recommend this restaurant to people visiting Santa Maria Navarrese and want to have a beautiful view and spend a romantic evening. Here are some tips for your visit to Toma Restaurant: Book your reservation in advance, especially during peak season. Ask your waiter for their recommendations, as they know the menu well and can help you choose the best dishes. Enjoy the beautiful views of the Gulf of Orosei while you dine.

It’s always disappointing to see a place with so much potential fall short, especially in such a stunning location. The view here is one of the best I’ve seen in Sardinia, but unfortunately, the food and service were well below expectations. To start, even the most basic elements of Italian dining were missing—no olive oil, vinegar, salt, or pepper on the table. Everywhere else we’ve been, these were standard and didn’t require asking. We were then served a stale, unpleasant pineapple juice that should never have been offered to guests. It was clearly past its prime. As for the food, it was a major letdown. The quality did not match the prices at all. For €22, a seafood dish should feature fresh, high-quality ingredients. Instead, it seemed like it was made from leftovers. The shrimp, in particular, were inedible. The service, while provided by seemingly eager staff, lacked attention to detail. They would forget requests moments after leaving the table, and overall, it just felt disorganized and unprofessional. For the prices being charged, the experience should be far better. Sadly, both the food and the service were highly disappointing.

Firstly we were impressed by location and views. So we went in and was unsure if we wanted meals or just drinks so they didn’t allow us to go to the floor with the views but only lower deck. There were 4 young girls (waitresses) and we got menu and nothing else happened within ten minutes even no one else was on the deck but us. After that like it wasn’t enough being ignored someone spoiled drink on upper deck and it came right on me through the wooden floor so with just like just I had no drinks no views nothing just destroyed shirt. Thank you.

Food is quite good, have attached recent menus as there’s been a slight change since the previous ones were uploaded. The evening we were here it was quiet but the service was extremely slow. Incorrect drink orders came out twice. We sat down at 19:30 for2 main, 4 drinks, and 1 dessert and we eventually got the bill after asking twice and left at 21:40. This was despite 3 waitresses working the balcony.

Great service. The staff is very friendly and professional. Antonio and Francesco know all about the trekking Selvaggio Blu. The rooms are renovated and very clear. Always hot water for shower. The food in the restaurant is delightful! Everything is perfect organized. Strongly recommend

We did Via Ferrata with Antonio and Francesco. They have a lot of interesting local knowledge and the history of the land. We had the most fantastic time. Beautiful location! It took an hour drive in 4x4, around an hour approach and around 4 hours on via Ferrara. Some amazing abseils including 55 meters drop. All this with the views of the picturesque coast. We’ve ended the day with a swim in the sea! We started at 8am and finished at 6pm. I would highly recommend to anyone who is physically fit and have head for heights!

lovely place in the middle of the mountains. attention from Franceso and Delfina were great. they helped us in every way possible to make our stay at the camping 10/10. the toilets were clean all the time and showers worked perfectly. camping sites were lovey between the trees. they have a bar and restaurant that is definitely worth trying! pre order the lamb at the bbq in the afternoon for a late dinner and will not regret!

The location is great, very remote and quiet. The bungalow house was comfortable although very simple. The dinner and lunchpack were very good. The service (reception, restaurant) was superb. Thank you for making our stay so pleasent!

Fabulous remote location in the mountain and very close to the starting point for the hike to Cala Goloritze. The room was very modern and clean and we had a great balcony where we enjoyed drinks from the downstairs bar. Dinner at the restaurant was of excellent quality too. However there were a few set backs, firstly the breakfast was poor in comparison to our other stays in Sardinia (stale bread, a slice of cake and a slice of melon only), it was a bit noisy from staff making noise and slamming doors downstairs at 6am, and finally the staff were not very helpful nor particularly bothered in helping us organise any excursions advertised on their website such as climbing or abseil - perhaps as it was low season. Nonetheless, we found plenty of hikes and activities to do ourselves in Sardinia.

We had lunch here, a quiet spot in what feels like the middle of nowhere. The service was lovely and the food simple but good.

An amazing place. It's very close some great landmarks such as a stone mask carved into the stone and a Nuraghe ruin all less than a 5 minute walk from the place. Great services such as toilets. One of the few places that actually provide toilet paper in the outside toilets for campers. You can sleep in the refuge itself or camp on the outskirts for 15 euros a night per person with a tent. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The place has alot of wild life and animals just roaming around which is so beautiful. The food here was well priced and excellent as well. I will return. It's a great place to start hikes of all kinds from and the also provide a shuttle service to the sites in the area.
