Bluewater Avalon is a well-known bistro located in a historic waterfront building that used to be a terminal for steamers. The restaurant offers sustainable seafood and New American cuisine, with a focus on classic New England dishes infused with Catalina flavors. The airy dining space features modern fish house architecture and contemporary decor, while the 3,000-square-foot waterfront deck provides stunning views.
This seafood restaurant is an absolute gem! The freshness of the dishes really stands out, and everything we tried was delicious. The highlight of the meal was definitely the clam chowder—it was creamy, rich, and packed with flavor, with just the right balance of clams and seasoning. Easily one of the best I’ve ever had! The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the staff were friendly and attentive, making the whole dining experience even better. If you’re a seafood lover, this place is a must-visit, and I highly recommend starting with (or even making a meal out of) their clam chowder.

We came here for dinner on our first night in Catalina, and it was good choice. Everyone liked their meals and the fries were the best ones we had on the island. My sea bass was meh, lacked in flavor, but everything else was very good! We got: Crispy Calamari Gold Spotted Sea Bass, Pacific New York Strip Angus Cheeseburger Grilled Chicken Chopped Salad Spicy Margaritas

Such a beautiful location! The sound of the waves, the smell of the ocean, an amazing view!🥰 it was my birthday and we mentioned it at the entrance and ask for a table by the water- and we got one. The service was friendly, but while we were having lunch, the waiters came up about 15 times, asking if they could clear the plates (even though there was still food on them) and if we needed anything else.. it was a bit intrusive. The lobster roll was a bit dry:( They didn’t offer a birthday treat, but that’s ok, not many restaurants go above and beyond for their guests like that.
Kate — Google review
We ordered the halibut and the sea bass during our visit to Catalina. The food was just about average, what you are really paying for is the beautiful ocean view and the calming sound of the waves. The atmosphere is relaxing and perfectly captures the charm of Catalina, but the food itself did not stand out. The plating for both dishes was appealing and well presented. The sea bass was described as sweet, but I found the sweetness to be quite subtle. I would suggest making the cream sauce thicker, since the watery texture made it difficult to enjoy the intended flavor. If a sauce like that is served, including a spoon would help guests taste it properly. The halibut was breaded, but the flavor reminded me of lake water, which did not appeal to me. Overall, the experience was not spectacular for my taste, though the setting on Catalina Island made it worth trying at least once. I still encourage others to visit and form their own opinion.
Kevin O — Google review
View was great and the food was even better. You sit on the shore the sound of water waves makes it so peaceful and romantic. They’re usually pretty busy through out the day. No reservation! But believe me the wait is worth!!!
Amandeep K — Google review
The atmosphere can not be beat at this place on the island compared to the other restaurants. We got a seat right next to the water so you could hear the crashing waves. The bread was amazing! I got the lobster roll which was good but not the best I have ever had. My husband got the raw oysters which he loved and the Seafood Paella Valenciana which was good but had a very strong wine flavor that overpowered the dish a little. The service was good and fast! We came on off season (October) so there was no wait but I would imagine on peak season there would be quite the wait.
Allison W — Google review
Bluewater Grill is a great spot with awesome views of the water. The seafood was fresh and well cooked and the portions were a good size. The service was really good too, everyone was friendly and attentive. Prices are a little on the higher side but that’s to be expected on the island. The atmosphere made it worth it, especially if you sit outside by the water.
Yuri C — Google review
Bluewater Avalon Restaurant is truly amazing. They greeted you with a warm sourdough bread with a huge dollop of butter. The fried fish is a delicious white fish in a crispy fried batter. The French fries are golden crispy with a soft center. The clamp chowder is silky and full of clams and potatoes. YUMMY! Jesus, our server, is amazing. He's very attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and most of all caring. I HIGHLY recommend The Bluewater Avalon when you're in Catalina Island. They have the best view of the ocean. Just watch out for the bees.

Catalina Coffee & Cookie Co is a charming cafe nestled in the heart of downtown Avalon at Metropole Marketplace. This cozy spot offers an array of delectable treats, from self-serve frozen yogurt to award-winning menu items like the strawberry hibiscus tea. Known for its signature coffee beverages and all-day hot breakfast options, it's a perfect stop before embarking on your island adventures.
We found this Build Your Own Breakfast spot while exploring the island, and it did not disappoint! Yes, there was a long line when we arrived, but it moved so fast thanks to their efficient and friendly team. Great service all around! We built a croissant sandwich with turkey, cheese, and arugula, flaky, savory, and just the right balance of flavors. We also had the breakfast burrito with turkey sausage, which was warm, hearty, and perfect to fuel a day of adventure. Now let’s talk about the Japanese Matcha Iced Latte, hands down, the highlight of the morning! Smooth, energizing, and refreshing, total boom for breakfast on the island. 🍵💥 Prices are super reasonable too, especially for the island, we left full and happy without breaking the bank. Highly recommend stopping by if you're nearby. This place has good vibes, good food, and good people

Stopped in twice during our stay on Catalina - breakfast both times. Very cute little place, friendly service, and fairly quick on serving. Outdoor seating. -White Chocolate Mocha Frozen Drink -Blackberry Coffee -Breakfast Burrito with Vegan Sausage + Salsa Verde on the side -Bagel with Turkey Sausage -Jalapeno pretzel Everything was delicious and prices decent for area. Would highly recommend for your morning/lunch casual meal or drink.

A great place to catch up for coffee and breakfast. Firstly the line was long and wait was a bit tedious. It’s better to go for online order and pickup but I felt a few dishes were not available online. The wait was worth it. I got white mocha which was must try. We also got to build our own burrito, avocado toast and almond croissant. The coffee was fresh and soothing. The croissant had a flaky crust and a soft and spongy inside with Almond filling which was not too sweet. The avocado toast was amazing, with sour dough. The burrito was also great. Overall it was an amazing breakfast.

Great coffee and breakfast options! I found this place had better ratings than other places, and it had delicious looking options for our early morning arrival on Catalina island. There are options for online ordering, which I recommend if it’s busy, or you can order at the counter. The staff is so friendly! They have cute merchandise too. We added the fire roasted corn medley to our egg sandwich - it was great! I highly recommend, and I’ll be back for more great breakfast next time I visit Catalina Island.

Traveling from Carnival Cruises with one day in Catalina Island. Looking for a cozy atmosphere with music and cold coffee drinks. This fit our search. Nice, friendly staff with lots of seating outside and a 2 piece band singing our jams. Loving it 😊

We hit this up on our food tour and the cookie, and the dark chocolate pistachio was really good. The strawberry hibiscus tea was also really flavorful and not too sweet. You could taste that. It was actually fresh and they make their own syrups.

Catalina Coffee & Cookie Co. is such a great little spot. The coffee was really good and the cookies and pastries were super tasty. It has a chill vibe and feels like the perfect place to hang out for a bit. The staff was really nice and made us feel welcome. Everything we had tasted fresh. Definitely a 5-star spot and I’d come back every time I’m in Catalina.

Luau Larry's is a vibrant and casual Tiki-themed spot offering a Hawaiian-inspired menu, tropical cocktails, and live music with harbor views. It's famous for its signature drink, the Wiki Wacker, which is a potent concoction served with a comical straw hat. The restaurant draws in crowds at night with its friendly atmosphere and mouthwatering meals ranging from seafood to burgers and salads.
Whilst on port during our cruise stop, we had lunch at this place and loved it. We got coconut shrimp, fish and chips and the beef sandwich. Also ordered a pina colada. Food was delicious and generous portions. Nice hip vibe with a cute decor. Our server Vanessa was friendly and attentive. Had a great time! If you are in port, definitely try them out.

I saw this place in a YouTube video. We didn’t realize it opened after 11 a.m., but luckily we made it just in time for a late lunch or early dinner , and it was worth the wait! The food was fantastic, the vibe was cozy and relaxed, and the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. Although it’s a small spot, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. It’s a Mexican and seafood restaurant, and we tried the chicken nachos , the chicken was packed with flavor. We also had the calamari with fries, which was fresh and perfectly cooked. The creamy white dipping sauce they served on the side was so delicious we asked for more! We also sampled a few cocktails, and the staff was super flexible. I initially ordered a Bahama Mama but didn’t enjoy it, so they kindly let me switch to the local specialty, Buffalo Milk , and it was amazing. Located right across from the ferry terminal, this place is the perfect final stop before heading back home with good memories and a full stomach. Highly recommended!

We were not disappointed for waiting 30 minutes for a table at all. It was well worth the wait!!! The ambiance in the restaurant is so Vibrant! They have the best music playing. Fish and Chips is a great option! If you order a certain drink. You get a straw hat for free.

We had dinner at Luau Larry’s and we must admit: service was great, drinks were amazing. We ordered a Clam Chowder and it was loaded with potatoes, so many that there was no soup at all. we also ordered a mixed platter and it was ok. Food was nothing extraordinary. Music and location were awesome. It’s a great spot t stop for drinks.

Bright and colorful with a laid-back, beachy vibe — tiki style. It’s a great spot to grab casual drinks with friends and soak in its unique character. The drinks are definitely the highlight — strong, creative, and really well made. The whole place just felt really good — the kind of spot where the drinks hit right and the vibe makes you want to stay a little longer.

It seemed to me as one of the more popular Bars on the island. Always packed and full of people even at closing. Still with the volume of people the bar tenders readily get you your drinks. Im not sure how you get one, but people are there for the Hats. Goodplace for a lively Vibe. I had a mezcal Jamaica which tastes great!

Stopped in for breakfast during our three day weekend and even though the wait was extremely long to sit down and to be served, the food was pretty good. This place can get very popular depending on the time and day so be prepared to wait a bit. Inside was very crowded so we had to sit at the bar, but we were just a party of two so we didn’t have to wait as long as some of the larger groups. Inside is quite large, they have many different sized tables, but no outdoor seating. Our server was very polite, but it took at least 15 minutes for her to come over for the first time and take our drink/food order and all of our food items came out very slowly. When they did come, some of the items were missing, but the taste quality was there. For my first visit, I ordered the Crabcake Benedict with avocado, and they forgot the avocado when it first arrived as well as some other items from other members in our party. That being said, the crabcake was actually very good and this Benedict was the best of the three that I had on the island during my visit. Pricing is pretty fair and the menu does have a lot of good options. I would definitely recommend if you are in the area and would give it another try in the future next time I visit the island.
Zan L — Google review
The host sat us in the very far left corner where it was very very cramped and the sun was beating down. There was many available tables but I don’t like how we were sat in the worst spot in when it was not busy. We saw other parties of 2 who were sat at bigger tables and with shade not in direct sunlight. However we asked a server and we moved to the bar instead. Katie and Angel were very nice and the food was delicious. The drinks were also amazing. The food did take long to come out but it was worth it. Overall the experience was fine but the host who sat us gave us a bad vibe.

A great place to catch some good seafood. Their ambience is great and their service is amicable. We got lobster roll, fish tacos, and clam chowder. The clam chowder was creamy and flavorful. The fish tacos was fresh and juicy and the lobster roll was fresh and juicy. It was hot lobster roll with sourdough with coleslaw. The coleslaw was also fresh and crunchy. The meat was soft and tender. Overall had a great time here.
Jagadeesh R — Google review
This is a MUST stop if you visit Catalina! I have had blackened fish a lot in my life and The Lobster Traps blackened fish is the best! All their food is amazing, the atmosphere is fun, and the bathrooms are clean! Great job guys!

The food was amazing!! I had the macadamia nut crusted swordfish and my mom got the lobster. Everything was delicious!! We were joking as to why you even put veggies on the plate because there's so much other food options to eat! The service was very quick and kind!

Worst Calamari’s I've EVER had they are square flat and hard almost no calamari inside mostly breading. I don’t have a pic but I travel all over the world. The food is ok at best but the prices are ridiculous $96 for two people no drinks only water.
Doug G — Google review
Our bartender, Katie, was great. We appreciate that she was attentive. Food was good - bar food vibes. Although - the fried appetizers were basically just freezer food heated up - like the jalapeno poppers were freezer section Trader Joe’s poppers, for sure. We also got the garlic cheese curds - and same thing. We felt like they were just freezer section quality. The lobster roll was actually really tasty - although we were confused by it being on a hamburger bun. We were expecting it to be served on a hoagie or something similar to keep lobster from falling out the one side - but to each their own. $100 (before tip) got us 2 margaritas, a lobster roll with fries, garlic cheese curds and jalapeno poppers.

Pancake Cottage is a popular waterfront restaurant known for its classic American breakfast and lunch options, as well as a full bar. Established in 1984 by husband and wife Lou and Muriel, it has become a favorite among both locals and visitors. The extensive menu offers a variety of delicious choices, with the pancakes being highly recommended. The restaurant's expansion has made it larger than before, attracting many customers, especially those arriving from the early ferry from Long Beach.
The best tuna melt and turkey melt we have ever had. I have never had avocado on a tuna melt and now I HAVE to have it that way every time. Very affordable prices considering the area. $17 sandwiches and $2 bottle water. It wasn’t very busy even though the island was packed with people.

Visiting Catalina for a long weekend and of the three breakfast places that we tried this was our favorite of the three. It has a beautiful location right across from Avalon Bay so you have a great view of the water while dining. It was quite busy when we arrived for our 9:30 Friday morning breakfast but we didn’t have to wait very long. They have a pretty large menu filled with a lot of great options and the other diners around us seemed like they were enjoying their meal as well. Pricing is fair and our server was very polite. The restaurant is actually larger on the inside than it looks on the outside so there are plenty of seating options. The food was pretty good, not quite as good as the breakfast you will get over in the mainland, but for a little island breakfast spot it was really enjoyable. For my meal I ordered the Chorizo Sizzler and enjoyed it. I wish there would have been more chorizo and a little bit less onions but still overall it was a really nice meal. I also got a coffee and thought it was strong and tasty. I would recommend to anyone visiting the island and I would stop in again next time I visit Catalina.

This place is cute. The wait wasn't long considering we went on a nice August Saturday. Our waitress in the left side bar area of place was not very friendly. Had to hunt her down for refills and butter for pancake. Plus she said oh we only have 1 knife clean so you'll have to share. It's kinda pricey so I expected better quality and better service. The food was meh. I wouldn't return again . The view is cute though.

Pancake Cottage is a VERY popular place for breakfast. If you get there early (before the ferry’s start coming in) you have a better chance of getting a table. The line outside gets long. Prices are ok. Staff are nice and can be quick with service. We split a pancake combo (2 pancakes, 3 slices of bacon and scrambled eggs. It was good. They don’t serve booze

Catalina Express operates a fleet of high-speed ferries that provide convenient and efficient transportation to Avalon from San Pedro, Long Beach, and Dana Point. With around 30 daily departures from these Southern California ports, travelers have multiple options for reaching the island. The Long Beach port offers easy freeway access and is located near the historic Queen Mary, adding to the overall travel experience.
We went to Catalina Island. The boat was clean with indoor and outdoor seating so you can pick how to experience the journey. There is a concession stand offering snacks and beverages. Definitely bring a jacket or blanket as it can get chilly traveling at night. There is storage for luggage and strollers. The staff was extremely efficient getting everyone boarded. It was smooth sailing.

The Catalina Express was a little bit pricey ($90/person) for the boat trip over to Catalina Island but everything that they did was professional. They left at the time they said they would and everything was kept very clean for the most part. On the way over we were able to go to the back of the boat and watch the water but on the way back we did have a different boat and we were not able to do that in that same way. The staff were friendly. They had drinks available both alcoholic and non-alcoholic and overall this was a smooth ride all the way there and back.

We took a cruise to Catalina Island and then we went in a shaded Hummer up to the top of the mountain the very highest point on Catalina to take pictures and sightsee it was a very bumpy ride like riding a horse. Then we took a bison excursion in a Hummer that is built to impress it stayed on the road it didn't go over the cliffs and it kept us on track even though the road was a very small two-way road and when I looked over the side it went straight down into the trees but we were looking for the bison that were wild that were brought there specifically for a book turned into a movie written by Zane Grey. I tried the house sangria and the tequila shrimp, and both were absolutely amazing! The sangria was perfectly balanced—fruity, refreshing, and not too sweet. The tequila shrimp had incredible flavor, cooked just right with a delicious sauce that I couldn’t get enough of. For me, it was a 10/10! I’ll definitely be coming back for more. Highly recommend! For me this was my favorite spot to eat in the island 🏝️🌟

We made a reservation for dinner here on the first night of our vacation. The staff was so hospitable and attentive. We were a family of 5 (myself, husband, 3 sons) and there was plenty of seating for large groups. The restaurant was quiet in a nice way - it felt slightly more upscale than many of the other restaurants in Avalon. Everything was delicious (crispy ravioli appetizer was a hit!) We’d definitely eat here and recommend it to anyone looking for delicious Italian food and great service.

Stayed on Catalina for three nights and this was our favorite meal! We had the meatball appetizer, our entrees were chicken parmesan and manicotti, then for dessert we had tiramisu and chocolate cake. The black raspberry margarita was very light and refreshing! Everything was exceptional! The views were breathtaking as we sat outside watching the sunset over the water. Would definitely go back.

Our experience at M was a mixed bag. To begin: the service was very good and the views from the patio are nice. The restaurant looked clean but the bathroom was a bit dingy. As for the food - we began with the fried ravioli, which were amazing; I could have eaten that alone for dinner. For entrees, my companion had the swordfish and I had the filet. The swordfish was a bit overcooked and dry, but the flavor was good. However, my filet mignon, which I ordered medium, came to me well done - the steak was completely grey. I sent it back, and the waitress was friendly about it. When the new steak came to me, it was VERY rare - I'm talking black and blue. I kind of nibbled around the edges but ultimately left it uneaten. I just didn't want to send it back a second time. The filet was served with mashed potatoes, which were not great - they were too peppery and stiff/dry. The asparagus was a bit stringy - which is to be expected, given the season - but well seasoned. The standout was the bleu cheese sauce - it was absolutely delicious. I may end up going back, in spite of the middling experience, because Catalina dining options are few. However, if and when I return, I'll be sticking to appetizers and/or pasta items.

The food was absolutely amazing. The clam chowder here is easily the best clam chowder we’ve ever had. The waiter we had was very attentive and nice. Very twinkley and romantic at night.

For was great. Probably some of the best we had on the island. Service was a little dull but that's OK. Completely understandable. Not a single complaint honestly. Would certainly go back.

The M Restaurant... Welcome to the island. I came out here for a friends birthday. This was my first time eating here. We originally had our sights and appetites set for the Blue water Avalon. However we were rudely advised by the lady cleaning the door windows that they were closed. So we went to the M instead. The "M" (lucky #13) was a God send. Our waitress was Stepania. She was ABSOLUTELY AMAZINGLY AWESOME. She is literally Jonnie on the spot. I even took her suggestion for my meal. She recommended the Steak and Eggs. She did not disappoint. The meal in it's entirety was very good. I highly recommend it. As for the ambiance... The outdoor patio is very relaxing. If you plan on visiting Catalina Island in the near future please, PLEASE, PLEASE eat at the M. You will not be disappointed. P.s. Bluewater if you read this. Please talk to your staff. What they say in Spanish can easily be interpreted by someone who knows the same language. NOT COOL what she said. Bluewater you just lost a customer. M you just gained one.

Bar
The Marlin Club in Avalon is a classic dive bar with nautical decor and a boat-shaped bar. It's the oldest bar in town, known for its lively atmosphere, live music, and bar games like darts and pool. The bartenders are described as both surly and friendly, adding to the place's character. While it may have a limited beer selection, it makes up for it with strong cocktails like refreshing lemon drops made from fresh juice.
The bartender (I think his name was Sam) was great to talk to and learn about Marlin Club history. We met some really cool locals sitting at the bar as well. Drinks were great, we will definitely be back.

Just hung out for drinks but what a place the history is cool! If those walls could talk. The bartender was great and he had plenty of advice! Could not recommend a better place.

Not on the main drag, but definitely a don’t miss spot. Ardis was helpful and made fantastic drinks. Beers are definitely reasonably priced. Shocked it wasn’t packed to the gills in here. Come here when you stumble off a cruise or come to the island. You will NOT be disappointed. Also, the bathroom was super clean.

The atmosphere is so neat! I love that the locals go here and they seem pretty nice!! The bartender was nice and direct, but fun! I would love to return.

This place is really fun was told that it was one of the oldest bars on Catalina.

Had fun in the beginning because of Savannah the bartender but ERIN the other bartender was horrible she was very drunk on the job being messy with customers. Didn't want to serve us water lol. She also threaten to fight me when i called her out for being very rude. Also locals said she's always like this don't know how the owner hasn't fired her embarrassing! She also lied telling people she was the owner lol locals said keith owns the place.

A nice cozy local bar, very casual, friendly bartenders. A local "Cheers' like hangout where every local knows each other. Best of all...good tasty drinks, inexpensive well & call drinks ($5-$7), needless to say we had a few, met some great visitors like us, as well as locals, and had a great time!! Will definitely come back here on the next trip to Catalina.

New American restaurant
Located on a side street, Antonio's Pizzeria & Cabaret is a casual waterfront restaurant that has been an island tradition for over 18 years. It offers classic pizzas, pastas, and American food with live music. Although it recently changed its menu and no longer serves Italian food, the gluten-free pizza is highly recommended. The restaurant also offers large salads and buffalo wings to go.
We were informed by the hostess upon arrival that they no longer serve Italian food or pizza at Antonio's Pizzeria. This was disappointing since we were going there to try the pizza and pizzeria is right there in the name. We decided to give them a try anyways since we were there and had a food credit from our hotel. We were seated outside by the water with an incredible view. It was around 6 pm so there was shade and a nice breeze. While they don't have pizza anymore, they do have Flatbreads (BBQ chicken, Margherita, and a couple other options). We ordered a Buffalo milk to start which was SO good (basically a banana nutella shake with vodka). Then we ordered the breakaway wagyu beef sliders with fries. The servers were very attentive and friendly and the food was so good. This was a great place to start our vacation. Even though it was different than we initially expected, we had a really good time.

I read some negative reviews about this place. So this is review is based on my own personal experience. We were walking around trying to find a place to eat and came across this pizzeria. We ordered 1 clam chowder 1 garlic bread. 2 small pizzas and I got the angus burger with 2 cokes. I paid 95 dollars in total. Please be aware that sodas cost 4.50 each. The food was ok can't complaint when we had such a beautiful view of the beach. Our server was very friendly and got our correct. We will be returning again when we visit the island.

Great location. Beautiful views of the ocean but interesting food. Large menu with various items to accommodate everyone. They don’t offer tap water to drink just bottled. The menu itself is a little expensive. Our server was young and needed some training. Over all cool restaurant with lots of history.

The view is amazing and the food looked good in pics but it taste ok. I will be back just to enjoy the nice view. I also came for breakfast and it was interesting. The food taste like it had no salt on the eggs and hash browns. The pancakes taste like they had more salt.

Two different locations in Avalon on Catalina Island. The larger location has a warm environment with many nostalgic memorabilia, and a great beach front view. The smaller older location has a delicious off the menu pizza, just ask for the "Lorena special" it has fresh tasty ingredients such as jalapeño, avocado, pepperoni, and pineapple. A definite must try. Make sure to stop by both locations, both extremely friendly staff and delicious food.

Not many spots are open for breakfast but this one is and has not only great food but great service and views. Delicious pancakes, eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast. Can customize anything to make it exactly how you want it.

I never write bad reviews let alone any reviews at all, but after leaving this restaurant I knew I had to write one. My friend and I were super excited to eat here because it was right in front of the water and had a great view. My friend ordered spaghetti with meat sauce and I ordered a Hawaiian pizza. My friend received her pasta, and I ended up getting my pizza 25 minutes after she got her pasta (she was done eating by the time I got my food). When I asked my server about my pizza he just kept walking and rolled his eyes which made me even more upset. When I finally received my pizza, it was hard and quite frankly not even good. It was probably one of the worst pizzas I’ve ever had. When it was time to get our checks, the server didn’t even have enough guts to bring it to us and made someone else do it. He also didn’t even come back to get our check, and I ended up having to walk it up to him. I don’t recommend this place at all. If you just want to go here for the view, there are other places that are probably 1000 times better. Honestly I probably should have gotten a refund. Don’t go here!!!!!!

Restaurant
Located on the corner of Crescent and Catalina Avenues, Avalon Grille is a charming waterfront restaurant offering both indoor and outdoor seating with stunning bay views. The restaurant features an airy dining room with high ceilings, warm wood accents, and a large window wall. Their seasonal menus showcase New American cuisine with regional dishes highlighting fresh seafood, prime steaks, housemade pasta, and fresh salads.
Came here on a small getaway and food was amazing! The aguachile quattro was divine, small serving but packed with flavor! If you come here you need to get that as an appetizer. The meats were very delicious and juicy, vegetables roasted beautifully and flavorful. Service was outstanding, very attentive. The ambience was amazing as well. Definitely coming back! Would recommend.

The ambiance, the atmosphere, and food. They all tie in together to contribute to the cohesiveness of the restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised with the popcorn while you wait. The grilled Octopus is a must try, succulent, juicy, and flavorful. Although I wish they had a bone in steak the food was on point.
Osric R — Google review
Visiting Avalon for an extended weekend for my birthday so we decided to give Avalon Grille a try for dinner and had a very nice experience. They don’t take reservations, like most restaurants on Catalina, but there was no wait when we arrived at 5:30 and were able to be seated right away. All the staff that we encountered, including our server, were very polite and everything that we ordered came out pretty fast. You can tell the inside has been recently remodeled, and there is a large oval bar in the middle of the restaurant with TVs around it so this would be really nice place to have dinner and/or drinks. As a few reviews mentioned, it is a bit pricey, but not overly so. It’s less than you would spend at a lot of restaurants in West LA so I feel that it is fair, especially given it’s proximity to the water. They have a lot of great dishes on the menu so it took a minute to decide what I wanted to order. For my meal, I decided to start with the Watermelon Feta Salad and really enjoyed it. It was a good size portion and would be easy to split between two people, but it’s also the perfect amount for one person if you’re hungry. For my entrée, I chose the Whole Branzino and really liked it. I get Branzino often so I’ve tried it all over California, and beyond, and I can say that this is a good version. It did have quite a few bones in it, but that’s what you get when you do a Whole Branzino. The side succotash was really nice and overall it was very good. Given the limited options in Avalon, I would say this is one of the best places to grab dinner and certainly has an amazing location. I would recommend and would try it again next time I’m on the island.

We couldn’t find any place open to eat the first night we arrived at Catalina, so we were thrilled when Avalon Grille was open! Then we just continued to be delighted - Jimmy was our server and was amazing ! He recommended the gnocchi and it was chuck full of healthy vegetables and the noodles were made from scratch and were so fresh and delicious ! He also recommended the Sunny day which was a light and fresh summery sparkling drink that I absolutely loved ! The kitchen had made a wrong drink for someone so he graciously gave that to my husband as well! We loved the desserts Jimmy recommended as well ! He also had some fun drone tips to tell my husband about and was great to talk to! We highly recommend Jimmy and Avalon Grille :)

We stopped into the Avalon Grill as another restaurant had a 45 minute wait and we just didn't want to wait that long. I am glad that happened because we all enjoyed the lovely atmosphere, impeccable service, and the delicious entrees that were available. It was also very interesting to get habinaro seasoned popcorn while we waited for our main courses. Pro tip: they do not take reservations so get there a tad bit early for your evening meal. Overall great experience and loved feeling the fresh ocean breeze flowing through the restaurant.

Cocktail bar
Descanso Beach Club, located in Descanso Canyon near the Catalina Casino, is a popular spot for beachside dining and cocktails with stunning ocean views. The club offers a sexy atmosphere with chaise lounges, private cabanas, and an ocean-view patio where guests can enjoy handcrafted cocktails and a seasonal menu of Californian cuisine. Visitors can also relax on the beach, snorkel, kayak, paddleboard or swim in the clear water.
We spent an entire afternoon, relaxing here and taking in the views. It truly feels like you’re on a Caribbean island with the amazing music playing. Danny was our server and he was so lovely and personable. He proactively asked us if we wanted to take pictures which was so thoughtful. The drinks were strong but pretty expensive. We had the lettuce wraps which were so flavorful. I also had the fish sandwich and it was so fresh! They have cabanas and beach chairs available to rent for the day, but they are quite expensive. It’s free to lay on the beach if you bring your own towel. The water was super clear and we saw several bright orange Garibaldi fish. We went in March and it was a pretty calm vibe and not too crowded. However, I think it turns into a party destination with the DJ in the summer. So it depends on what kind of vibe you’re looking for.

Fun place to hang out with a lot of activities. A bar A big ground where a wedding was taking place. Clean rest rooms loungers Clean beach and a lot of people enjoying voters in serenity. Also a deer happened to come and became another attraction. Will reach it late and still enjoyed all the facilities at this magnificent club. A great place to be in Vince, you're never on. It's a little ahead of the tuna club. Number hundred, and both the walk on.This island for the scenic beauty.

Fake euro summer. This beach club rivals some of the beach clubs I’ve been to in the French Riviera. The service is awesome and friendly, the chaises are pretty big and the water is beautiful. They even have the rocky beaches like in Europe 😂 the public beach gets packed so it’s nice to have your own space and the option of shade under your own umbrella. The chairs are pretty well spaced out as well. The one difference between this beach club and European ones is the obnoxious music the DJ plays when she comes out at 1pm. Somehow he fits 3 songs into 1 min. I would choose any random wedding DJ over this guy. If you get to the beach club when they open at 10am, you’ll have a few hours of serenity and very few beachgoers. Oh the food and drinks are good too and very reasonably priced. Just go! It’s worth it

Such a nice place to stop and eat on the island. Good service, good food. Is near the water and I'm thinking you can rent chairs and eat on the beach if you want. Not sure so don't quote me on that. I ordered the Peruvian Ceviche, delicious!! I highly recommend it. It has a little kick so if you can't eat spicy, don't order this. The sword dish sandwich was also tasty. Never had sword fish. It was good. I highly recommend to come and enjoy the food and view at Descanso Beach Club.

My favorite part of my trip to Catalina, absolutely. Beach Clubs like this one offer unparalleled convenience and relaxation. These are getting hard to find, especially in the United States. Everything was excellent, including the food and services. Drinks were delicious although a little on the weak side.

Had a great birthday day trip to Avalon-Catalina Island, Descanso Beach Club is a must visit- a cozy small beach that you can do swimming, Kayaking, snorkeling, or just relaxing in a tropical setting. Bring your own beach chairs or rent a cabana. Good choices on drinks, foods. Clean restrooms and onsite showers.

One of the highlights of the island. It’s a private beach club, but it’s open to the public. The prices are very reasonable.

My wife and I had an awesome time at the club. It was my first time on the island. Our first day, she booked us a couple of beach chairs at the club. The service from Mitchel was top notch. He really made the experience elevated. Super friendly and professional. Our drinks never sat empty and he was always checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Day two was in a Cabana and again, had the great pleasure of having Mitchel. Great drinks, great service and great conversations. Couldn’t have been happier with our service. We will be returning to the club this summer because of the great experience we had with Mitchel and the entire staff.

Experience the thrill of soaring through Descanso Canyon 600 feet above sea level with the exhilarating Zip Line Eco Tour on Catalina Island. This two-hour adventure takes you on a journey down five separate zip lines, reaching speeds of up to 40 mph. Along the way, you'll have eco-stops where you can learn about the island's wildlife and environment.
Abby and Matt were amazing guides! They made the first tutorial simple and fun, which really helped us feel comfortable. Matt carefully followed all 10 safety steps before each zipline, and Abby was always there at the end to catch us safely. She also gave great feedback on our form and made sure we remembered how to slow down correctly when reaching the platform.

We started our morning with the Catalina Aerial Adventure. The safety training they gave made us feel confident in the quality of the equipment and we learned exactly how to use it. My daughter opted for a course, guided by Casey, who we later learned is an aesthetician. She offered just the right amount of advice that was brief, simple, clear at just the right spots. You rock Casey!! As soon as we turned in our gear, we got lucky and were able to book spots on the zip line. Lilly (from Alaska!) and Matt Schmitt (the former engineer that traded up a desk to fly down mountains) were our guides. I’m sure every guide here is top notch, but they were excellent. Their safety presentation was funny, super clear, so we knew exactly what to do. It was perfect. On the way up and down the mountain we learned about deer politics, bisons getting sold off for $20, venom resistant big back quails, and tiny-little-foxes (but we didn’t see them :) That first bunny slope was the hardest, because it was the first. With just the right mix of encouragement and calm, we all able to make that first “confident step” without leaning forward, backward or bouncing our butts off the platform. That second run was sooooo long and just as much fun, and each run was fun and unique its own way. Wanna feel wild and silly?!? Zip with Matt & Lilly!!

A MUST DO if you like heights and thrills! We went with our 11 year old, and it was amazing! It was our first time Ziplining and I'm so happy with did it here! Our guides, Jack and Cassia (sp?) we're a great duo. They were funny and had great chemistry. Both of them seemed to have a lot of knowledge and experience, and they made us feel safe. My daughter was a little iffy at first, but after the second line, she was pumped! They asked us each some neat questions that sparked conversations and got us all to be engaged with everyone on the tour. Great job guys, I will be recommending you guys to anyone and everyone who will be willing to go on a zipline :)

I had the most fun experience at zip Line Eco Tours. Jack and Delaney were amazing guides -- super friendly, warm, and funny. Felt super comfortable the whole time. They really make an effort to make your group have fun. I did a solo trip, so when I had trouble rubbing sunscreen on my back and asked one of the employees to help out, Cassidy happily volunteered and did so. Just a testament to how kind the people working here are. The zip line tour itself was SO much fun!! The views are as amazing as they seem and the zip lines themselves were so thrilling and fun. Each one is slightly different so you never get bored. I recommend going when the sun is out in the early afternoon because it looks so stunning. I also loved the mini-tour the guides had on the ride up to the hills giving all the facts of the island. My favorite thing about the zip lines besides the thrill and the views was the nicknames for each zip line and the one zip line in particular where our guides encouraged us to "scream as loud as we can to scare the other visitors." And the video they record of you on that same zip line (in slo motion, too). 10/10 definitely come here!!

The Catalina Casino, named after the Italian word for "gathering place," is a historic event complex on Catalina Island. Built in 1929 by William Wrigley Jr., it was a social hub offering dining, dancing, and movie screenings for visitors arriving by boat. This iconic building is a symbol of Avalon's social life and can be seen from various vantage points on the island.
Incredible display of murals. We were definitely surprised at the detail in the artwork and architecture. It was about $20 to enter. There is a huge roller rink in the top floor ballroom. It was empty on a Monday so no bar was open. Not sure if there is food but they should have a restaurant here.
NJT T — Google review
The building facade is very attractive and display European architecture. It's rupees $20 to enter the casino of course, there is no gambling. Excellent display of murals. There's a skating ring and also where is steep ramp to enter the casino movie? Theatre, sometimes in YouTube. Movies are heal, dear. The tour is about 30 minutes. We were late so decided to go for dinner instead. But dead look inside its very attractive and it's worth a visit.Once you're in aval on.
Dr.Mohina K — Google review
The view from here is magnificent. There is a fee to enter. They do have events here as well. The outside balcony at the upper level gives you a half circle length of view. Skating was nice but the socks were expensive as I did not wear any that day. There was a room with a television playing the details about the buildings history. The bathrooms were dated as well with an extensive sitting area before you get to the toilets.
Lesha H — Google review
I finally went to the casino and did the tour. It's like a flashback in time. Very beautiful. They have movies there once in awhile an old ones all the time. The ballroom has become a roller skating rink there are a few people in there enjoying it. $20 so much for 30 minute tour but so once in a lifetime thing so why not? There are no stairs but very rather steep ramps. Would not recommend for people that cannot endure that exercise. Was fun to see a piece of history.
Patricia K — Google review
This is not an actual gambling house. There is not much to see it looks just like an outdated abandoned building. There’s really nothing to look at. They play a video in a room That goes over the history of Catalina Island. That’s about it. I wouldn’t spend your money here.

Beautiful piece of California history. The new skating rink in the ballroom is a blast and still a little secret as it's just opened up. Definitely worth the entry fee. Highly recommend taking some time to skate in this historic venue.

Coney Island West is a popular spot among locals, offering a relaxed atmosphere and delicious flame-broiled burgers, fish sandwiches, and other kid-friendly menu items like corn dogs and chicken nuggets. The outdoor patio provides stunning harbor views, making it an ideal place to enjoy your meal. Additionally, there are various dining options available in the area such as Catalina Coffee & Cookie Co.
I was not expecting the food to be as good as it was. When I saw the burger, I was questioning the bun decision and everything looked pretty basic, but once I started eating it blew me away. One of the best burgers I've ever had in my life, cooked perfectly, along with everything else. Absolutely fantastic! The people running the mic (calling names when orders are ready), definitely need a bit more training on how to talk into a mic though. It was so muffled that nobody waiting for food could understand what names were being said.

If you want fish and chips don’t go here. If you want a burger and a hot dog, it’s seems like a decent spot to eat at a very reasonable price. I got two orders if the fish and chips and it was rather gross. The breading was very thick and chewy and wasn’t crispy at all. It was chunks of white fish with a white bread like batter. I wish I got the burger.
Layton T — Google review
Get the fish and chips! It was hot and fresh. Other reviews are right, the batter isn't very crispy which is why I removed one star. But still worth trying, especially for the price. The portions are generous (3 people shared 2 meals) and there's plenty of outside seating.

Shared the berry salad and catalina burger with my husband. So good. Juan, our server, had to ask him to talk slower several times. He was attentive though and speedy!! Highly recommend!!
Cynthia K — Google review
Good spot for a quick bite. I ordered the hot dog with cheese, not realizing it came with so much of it. It was tasty, but a bit difficult to eat. The fries were fresh and crispy, bonus points!

BEST 1/4# hotdogs ! We ALWAYS make sure to come for lunch whenever we are in Avalon. Seating is small tables at the street with a good view of the shops, pier, foot & golf cart traffic. A little noisy but a good view.

Exactly what you want a snack shack to be. Good fish and chips, great burgers, chili fries, and more. Something for everyone and with really good prices. Sit outside right on the water and enjoy the view as well. Can't miss stop if you're in Avalon.

Memorial
Historical landmark
Wrigley Memorial & Botanical Gardens is a must-visit attraction on Catalina Island, offering over 37 acres of native and specialty plants. The memorial itself provides sweeping water views and is a testament to detailed work and craftsmanship. Visitors highly recommend this as their favorite activity on the island, praising the variety of trees imported by Wrigley, including the impressive dragon tree. The site also offers a nice 10-20 minute hike to reach the top, with free entrance for veterans.
Lovely garden with lots of interesting plants and trees. Easy walking trails. Getting to the memorial is up steps but to the left side there are more gradual steps. Took about an hour to walk around. We saw 2 of the Catalina Island foxes. Definitely worth the visit.
Jackie M — Google review
It is a beautiful garden with many unique plants, I love to walk on the trail and see birds.
Yan R — Google review
The Wrigley Memorial is gorgeous with great views from the very top. The garden didn’t look too good during my visit, but there is a wide variety of plants and paths to take. Saw squirrels and a lot of woodpeckers! Easily accessible by golf cart. The ticket price ($15) might be a lot, but it depends on what you decide to do and how long you spend for your visit.
Rory — Google review
We were there in the low season on a stormy day. It is still a well maintained park. The view from the memorial is great. From talking to locals, I would definitely buy the tickets in advance. It is a great place to visit.
Eric M — Google review
This place is amazing. I believe it's a botanical garden as well.
Ernie R — Google review
Lovely memorial surrounded by a botanical gardens. Many native plant species. A good collection of exotic plants. Nice cactus garden. Good place to bird watch and commune with nature. For mobility impaired people, the garden is accessable, but the memorial is not.
Julia H — Google review
I love this memorial. The view is awesome. But was disappointed that the gate to the hiking trail is now closed. The garden leaves to wish for more and the tickets went up from $8 to $17. Probably will stop coming back
Tanya B — Google review
A nice, easy walk, through a winding path of botanical gardens leading to the memorial itself. Cool architecture, well maintained, pleasant and quiet. You might spot an Island Fox, sunning next to a bridge, be sure not to feed or disturb him.

Monuments & Statues
Nestled in the serene Avalon Canyon on Catalina Island, Wrigley Memorial and Botanic Garden is a testament to the legacy of William Wrigley Jr., the chewing gum magnate who fell in love with Southern California. The memorial, an impressive art deco structure surrounded by cacti and native plants, stands as a tribute to Wrigley's influence on the island community. After his passing, his widow Ada transformed the surrounding land into a sprawling 38-acre botanical garden.
We really enjoyed our time in the garden! The plaques were informative and the information center at the front was great! We learned so much! The Wrigley Memorial was beautiful and so well built. The maintenance is also great, you can tell. I liked that it wasn’t completely structured so you could easily take your time and meander on any of the paths. Would have loved to hike the trail near the memorial but we didn’t have extra time. The shuttle to/from is super convenient and our driver was really wonderful. Highly recommend visiting if you are on Catalina Island!
Heaven M — Google review
The gardens are beautifully maintained, and the memorial is impressive. We also did some of the surrounding hikes, which offered stunning views and made for a peaceful, scenic outing.
Griffin P — Google review
This is about 1.5 miles up Avalon Canyon. Plan for about one hour inside the grounds, which has 38 acres of well-maintained paths. The gardens focus on rare island endemic plants, but also include a bevy of plants imported from other Mediterranean climates by Ada Wrigley, including unique collections of cacti and succulents. The centerpiece is the massive Art Deco memorial to Wm. Wrigley, decorated with Catalina Tile. The main path to the top involves stairs, but a more gradual ramp is available for accessibility. The best feature is the panoramic view from the memorial's top, overlooking the canyon and ocean. This is a worthwhile stop for its architecture, unique flora, and terrific vantage point.

Unique cactus, all those succulents are amazing! We started hiking from the campground and came down to the botanic garden. Nice little walk and the top of the structure, you must take pics!

It is a nice place to visit, but a bit pricey just to walk through. Saw many people come up on golf carts, then turned away when they saw the price. The descriptive signs could use an update.

Our first time to Catalina Island. The gardens and the Wrigley Memorial were beautiful, but hiking the Garden to Sky trail was definitely the highlight of our day on the island!! Amazing views from the top! On a side note.....Our shuttle driver, Ron, was amazing. A true asset to your organization!

Museum
Non-profit organization
Nestled on the picturesque Catalina Island, the Catalina Museum for Art & History is a treasure trove of cultural heritage that spans over 8,000 years. Established through the vision of Philip K. Wrigley, son of the island's founder William Wrigley, this museum first opened its doors in 1953 within the iconic Catalina Island Casino.
This lovely museum and art gallery made a great stop in Catalina to learn about the local history, see some lovely art, and sit a spell on the gorgeous rooftop patio. Happy to support the local nonprofit groups that bring this place to life.

A must visit to learn about the Island’s rich history. An updated building with modern layout, the history flowed well with each presentation and felt digestible. I really enjoyed the various stories told throughout.
Max S — Google review
I've been to Avalon probably about 100 times in my life and somehow, never before, gone to this museum. $12 to get in, and surprisingly, worth every penny! There was an "introduction" movie (about 15 minutes) then with literally two stories of exhibitions both inside and outside. Unreal. It didn't appear that it was too touristy (although there wasn't a cruise ship in this particular day), and overall, the museum was beyond my expectations. A must for any visitor!
Matthew J — Google review
Learn about the history of Catalina and immerse yourself in the journey in the life of this beautiful island. Fascinating, well portrayed in this nicely done gallery space. Great staff, very helpful. Thank you.
Keith B — Google review
The museum has lots of information covering the walls, barely a wall without some awesome knowledge on it. The bathrooms were clean, and I really enjoyed all the information they had and the video they had playing in a screening room. If you read all the walls, took your time in the museum, and drank/ate a snack on the second floor rooftop or in the gardens downstairs you'd probably take around 2-3 hours if you're like me. It's also easily accessible by town. Very much reccomend.
Madeline B — Google review
This museum is a fantastic little time capsule that is well worth the visit if you're on Catalina Island. It documents the development of Avalon, the rise and fall of its one manufacturing endeavor, and provides significant background information to the casino. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the Mrs. Catalina boats that would greet the ferries SS Avalon and SS Catalina back in the celebrity heyday. I very much wish they had more information on the collapse of their pottery manufacturing, but what light is shed on it is fantastic. If you're on the island, this is a must see!
Noah J — Google review
One of the best attractions on Catalina Island is definitely the museum! You pay upon entering and it is a self guided tour. We spent about 1.5 hours here and learned so much about the history of how Santa Catalina Island came to be. From secret military operations to famous movie stars who lived there and films/movie sets, the infamous fire of 2007, and how Wrigley’s insight, fortune, hard work, and legacy is embedded in this island getaway. It’s really a fascinating museum - I highly recommend!
Tiffany E — Google review
Nicely done museum showing the unusual history of Catalina Island. The display were well thought out and the information about the Island is fascinating. The courtyard just past the gift store is lovely and quiet, and a nice place to get away from the tourists and cruise ship crowds. If you need a break from shopping and noisy restaurants, I recommend this museum!

Pizza restaurant
Deli
Located in Catalina, Original Antonio's Pizza - Deli offers a taste of Italy in a 1950s-style setting with red and white checkered tablecloths. This popular spot has been serving up Neapolitan pies, spaghetti, subs, and more for 37 years. Whether you're looking for a sit-down meal by the water or a quick grab-and-go option on Summer Ave, there are two locations to choose from.
The garlic bread with dipping sauce was great. The sauce was sweet at first and then just the smallest bit spicy. Everyone at the table agreed it was great. The drinks have the crunchy kind of ice which is satisfying to chew. The pepperoni pizza was ready quickly and was perfectly cooked. We especially liked the crust and the amount and kind of cheese they used. The cheese had a proper cheese string "pull", which I'm not sure how much that translates to better taste, but this pizza was great. One of the young pizza lovers in our group says it was the best pizza he's ever had. He wishes the cook would give out the recipe.
Owen W — Google review
I really enjoyed the pizza here, and after a weekend in Avalon, I’d say this was definitely one of my favorite spots. We had the antipasto salad, some hot wings, and a turkey bacon club sandwich, and everything was a hit — no complaints at all! If you’re looking for a quick and tasty bite, this is definitely a place to try.

Visited on a Monday night with a group of 10. Were about to be seated right away but was some mixup with another customer who had seemingly been waiting 20 minutes for a table (they must've forgotten). Split our group up between a few tables inside and outside. Service was a little strange/not smooth. Food was good - pepperoni pizza, garlic cheese bread, and small antipasto salad to split amongst 3 people. Plenty of food, took home leftovers. Prices to be expected for area. Would recommend for a simple pizza/Italian meal. They also had slices to go.
Jamie O — Google review
This is a cozy little pizzeria on the island, full of charm, with lots of fun historic decor hanging all over the walls and even the ceiling. You have two options: dine in or grab a slice. I chose to dine in and it did not disappoint me. My waiter was a lovely kind lady who made my short stay very pleasant. I ordered a small pizza with mushrooms and a garden salad. The salad was very basic yet fresh and I enjoyed it, however, I wish there were more mushrooms on the pizza. As the photo says it all, there are a few canned mushroom pieces sporadically spread on the pizza. The crust was very much to my liking, neither thick nor thin, perfect thickness. The sauce was fresh and the cheese was very fresh and delicious. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and highly recommend giving this place a try.

Nestled in the Hotel Vista Del Mar, Steve's Steakhouse and Seafood offers a picturesque waterfront setting with stunning harbor views. The classic steakhouse exudes an intimate ambiance with its traditional decor featuring dark wood, leather accents, and softly lit tables. The menu showcases prime cuts of USDA choice steaks, free-range chicken, pork, fresh seafood from the surrounding bay, and vegetarian options.
Be prepared to spend a decent amount eating here. The food was presented beautifully. They do have a decent vegetarian/vegan menu which was nice. Great kids menu. Our server (I think Johnny) was really great! He made our dinner quite enjoyable if I do say so. The service was quick and top tier. My son loved the pasta of the day. He said it was his favorite thing he ate on the island. The upstairs view near the windows was really nice too. Great ambiance . My fiancé was a bit warm and would have preferred to have cool air, a fan or ac but I didn’t mind one bit. I would go back again.

Visiting Catalina for a three day weekend and of all three dinners that we had while on the island this was our favorite. It’s right across from Avalon Bay so you can dine staring at the water, which is a lovely option. If possible try to sit at one of the tables by the windows which have the best views. It’s located up on the second floor so you have good views of the entire bay. Inside is quite large and they have many different seating options available for many different size parties. Our server Juan was very polite and everything that we ordered arrived very fast. For our dinner, we ordered the Artichokes and the Wedge Salad to start, which were both nice and a good sized portion. I wish the Wedge would have bacon with it as that is the standard version but still this one was very tasty and a good start to the meal. For our dinner, we chose the Shrimp & Chips which was very good and had very large, plump shrimp. For myself, I chose the special of the day, which was the Barramundi cooked in a lemon caper sauce and honestly really loved it. It had some great flavors and it was very tender and cooked perfectly. I got a baked potato on the side, which was quite small, but still had nice flavors. Overall, we had a great dining experience and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the island and I would certainly dine here again next time I visit Catalina.

We had a great experience celebrating a birthday. The food was delicious ,we ordered the tomahawk steak for dinner and it did not disappoint. Our server was friendly and attentive. If you’re looking for a good steak on the island, I would definitely recommend this spot. The atmosphere was a bit laid back, not super fancy or upscale, which I was originally hoping for, but it seems like that’s just the vibe of the island overall. Either way, Steve’s Steakhouse delivered exactly what we needed for a memorable night

We had the Duck Cigars and the Ponzu Scallops for appetizers, both of which were amazing, sadly I forgot to take pictures. For dinner, I had the Scallops Avalon and my husband had the Sea Bass which was a special. Spectacular is the only word.

My first time here. I'm a fan of Filet Mignon, and WOW! First, let's talk about the view, I mean really, it's hard to compete with the view of the harbor in Catalina. As you can see, I was seated next to the window. Next, Johnny (sp?) came to my table, super friendly, very knowledgeable. He told me the specials, and I asked a couple of questions, and went with the Filet. I also tried the strawberry lemonade, it was delicious. The food came quickly, cooked to my liking, and let me tell you, the seasoning was PERFECT! SO good!! Johnny made sure I was good, refilled my glass, and everything was GREAT! This was a WINNER!

We were lucky enough to get a table overlooking the street! It was so beautiful and a great end to a perfect birthday weekend for me! The food was AMAZING! I wish they used real lemon juice in their lemon drop martinis, but it was still very tasty! Joey our server was very nice and efficient! The food was PIPING hot when it came out and the crème brule was excellent! Wonderful meal!

Catalina Island Brew House is a versatile spot that serves as both a top-notch coffee shop and a 'nano brewery.' I really think the ladies were just having a bad day, but don’t bring that into work. We went into get coffee and granted we came in on the 7am ferry so we are there super early. The service was slow, had a bit of an attitude and EXPENSIVE. I knew we should have gone somewhere else. It was NOT it.

Great coffee, nice view! Before heading back to the mainland, we stopped here to chill and have a late afternoon coffee. The team member working was friendly. The logo is pretty. We got an iced coffee and a hot decaf. There’s space for sitting inside and outside. You can see the water from inside or outside the coffee shop. I really liked this place, and recommend. It was a nice spot to visit during our wonderful time on Catalina Island. Next time I’m on Catalina Island, I’ll definitely stop by. I recommend!

I always love the idea of both a Coffee House and Brewery together. Latte (Hot) was on point with flavor, temperature and foam (i love foam)!! Cheesecake was very rich, I would recommend sharing because of the richness and portion size. It was delicious! Top it off with a beer sampler was a plus BUT the beers were okay. Very light for the most part and not a lot of flavors. We went back the next day to try a cold Latte which was still good but the hot had more bold flavor topped with the yummy foam. Got some pastries that were warm and fresh. Definitely a place to add to your daily coffee grab if you visit Catalina for the weekend.
Vicky W — Google review
I've gotten the latte here several times. The coffee is bitter and burnt. Even with lots of sugar, you can taste the bitterness in the coffee. If you like your coffee that way this place is fine. If not go to one of the other places.

We came here early in the morning and it was really crowded with people. The place is good decorated and serve a great coffee to be honest as they grind, pour fresh roasted, hand crafted dancing goats coffee ☕️(as they described it). They have a good collection of desserts 🧁, sandwiches 🥪 and other snacks . Not to mention their pizza 🍕. They also serve Hand picked selection of craft beer 🍺 and microbrews. And more to be discovered next visit;) the only thing is that the staff were really busy to make sure that their tables are clean and ready for customers

I recently visited the Catalina Island Brew House and had a fantastic time. The location is great, right near the water, and the coffee is really good. Maggie's Blue Rose Mexican is a vibrant, casual eatery with a pressed-tin bar that offers an elevated take on Mexican cuisine. The restaurant is known for its gourmet approach to traditional dishes and its famous margaritas served in unique skull glasses. Located overlooking Avalon Bay, it's a popular spot for both locals and tourists. The homemade tortilla chips and salsa are described as delicious and addictive, while the nachos are hailed as the best in the world by some visitors.
Came here with my family for lunch. Tried their Buffalo milk and fish tacos! Although Buffalo milk looked too heavy and sweet, it wasn’t like that all. Not too heavy and tasted pleasantly sweet! In terms of their fish tacos, i liked how they weren’t too salty or heavy but crispy and yummy! Foods here weren’t cheap but I think the quality of food was great! I recommend visiting here for lunch if you need to get lunch in Catalina island on Avalon side.

Service was great. Went around 11am and was able to sit outside. Got the grilled fish tacos with Mexican rice. The beans did not have much flavor. They gave me a lemon instead of a lime to squirt on the tacos which I thought was odd. They tasted a bit dry. I removed the tortilla from the second and it tasted better but I wouldn't get them again. They were just okay.

Wow! Stopped in on a Tuesday evening with 10 guests (celebrating our parents' 37th anniversary). It was quite a wait/busy, but they put tables together for us right on the sand in front of the water within minutes. Very kind, friendly greeter. Ordered several drinks and dishes, and everyone loved their choices! Prices were as expected for the area. Like most of the restaurants, they do not offer tap water in glasses. You have to order bottled water. But they did allow us to bring our own tumblers of water. -Potato Tacos + Salsa Verde on the side (delicious!) -Lazy enchilada (folded in half) with red sauce wad so good (almost an Italian flavored red sauce) -Bahama Mama Cocktail -Pomegranate Daquiri (little too sour/sweet) -Lava Flow frozen Cocktail -Crab Enchilada Everyone raved about their dishes and drinks. Would highly recommend for a nicer meal with a group. Restrooms inside, and interior decor and atmosphere was very nice as well.

Chi Chi Club is a popular bar and club located in the heart of Avalon, making it easily accessible to both visitors and locals. The venue offers a generous selection of liquor, a spacious dance floor, and a jukebox where patrons can choose their own music. The friendly staff and well-priced drinks create a welcoming atmosphere for guests to enjoy. While the music selection could be more diverse, the lively crowd ensures that everyone has a great time.
Celebrated my wife's 32nd birthday here at this venue. . We had a blast! Great scenery, generous amounts of liquor in each of our shot glasses and tons of dancing! There is a machine that accepts money in order to pick your song. I believe $5 gets you 6 songs. The list was pretty vast too, so there was a wide selection! I ran into my Relative and her boyfriend so they bought us hella shots of TerraMana (The Rock's tequila)! Another guy bought us shots of 1942, so it's pretty safe to say that we got pretty damn wasted lol! If you are 21 or older, make sure you stop by The Chi in Avalon! They even have a pool table. Cafe
Cafe Metropole is a vibrant eatery with a charming outdoor patio, offering a diverse selection of global sandwiches, seafood, and vegetarian dishes. It's an ideal spot for a quick and healthy bite, featuring smoothie bowls, salads, avocado toast, and delicious sandwiches like the popular tuna melt and vegan options. The cafe is committed to serving locally sourced and planet-friendly food. Situated just steps away from the beach, it embraces island vibes and welcomes sandy feet.
The vibes here were amazing as well as the food! I really enjoyed my time sitting, eating, listening, talking and drinking here with my friends. Everything was super good and the service was on point. My favorite dish was bbq chicken and fries, recommended!!

We loved this Cafe! We ate here for Breakfast and Lunch every day we were in Catalina because it was perfect, quick service and delicious clean meals. I got the Chicken Bacon Avocado sandwich with sweet potato fries and it was delicious Definitely would recommend!

Stayed on the island for several days and this was our favorite spot for a quick bite! Everything was so fresh and had so many healthy options! We had the BL+A with sweet potato fries, tuna sandwich, Mediterranean salad, and the raspberry tropics smoothie. Everything was amazing! One of the best tuna sandwiches I’ve ever had! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Food was always quick and hot!

I appreciate the smoothies and fresh juices. I have tried the green machine and the raspberry one. Both solid taste. It's one of a few places, where you can get a nice smoothie, so highly appreciated!

I had a delicious bacon Metropole burrito (breakfast) and it was generous portion. For coffee, they only have hot black coffee (real coffee) but you can add cream and sugar if you want. Their prices are compatible with the rest of the island. I definitely will eat there again!

Had to wait very long multiple times to get my food, even on non busy days. Food is expensive especially considering the small portions, but the quality of the food seems to be good. No wifi and few places to sit inside.

Our go-to spot during our vacation! We went here twice, once for lunch and again for breakfast. The breakfast burrito with sausage is absolutely delicious! Great menu options and lots of outdoor seating. I wish I had this place back home

We were looking for a local restaurant which served pressed juices, smoothies and sandwiches! The locals go here as they know delish food! I had the tuna sandwich and the cold pressed green juice and it made me so happy that I located this restaurant on Google based on great reviews. I am another one giving a 5 STAR to this little impressive take out restaurant! You order, pay, your food is brought out to you as you sit around tables in the small patio next door! Very charming!

Mexican restaurant
The Sandtrap is a casual restaurant in Avalon that offers Mexican and American breakfast, lunch, and happy hour options. It's a popular spot known for its authentic Mexican food, especially the street tacos. The restaurant has a pet-friendly patio and is favored by both locals and visitors for its cheap drinks and food. The stunning patio seating area provides a great ambiance to enjoy the delicious meals.
What a lovely and delicious stop on our golf cart toodle! I had the skinny ghost pepper margarita, the others had beer and buffalo milk! The ceviche was spot on and fresh as were the tacos! If I didn’t know better it felt like a cool beach bar in Mexico! Be sure to hit up this spot on your golf cart scenic drive!

If you want a real Mexican dining and food experience, you must try this place! The staff were incredibly welcoming and provided the best hospitality. The environment was lovely. Very spacious, relaxing, and scenic. This is a hidden gem away from the tourist spots. Worth the walk to here. Thank you to the staff and cooks for serving my daughter the mojarra she has been craving ❤️

The Sandtrap – Catalina’s Hidden Taco Treasure (No Sand in Your Chips, Promise) I visit Catalina Island at least twice a year & The Sandtrap is always on the must do list. Eat, watch t.v. (only one), relax, & chill. Tucked a scenic 15-30 minute walk from the bustling town center (or a breezy 7-minute joyride by golf cart—don’t forget: sip, don’t drive!), this spot is a legit hidden gem for locals, students, and cruisers alike. And guess what? They get you. Specials for cruise-goers? Check. Student deals for the nearby school crowd? Double check. Happy hour? Triple taco check. Let’s taco ‘bout the food. I only sampled the fish taco and chips & salsa, but wow—¡qué auténtico! The fish taco had a good flavor within the Baja expected. The chips? Fresh-made daily, a rare flex. They were thicker than I usually like, but still hit the spot when dunked in that zesty, made-from-scratch salsa. The aroma of grilled carne asada was absent so I didn't try the tacos. I'm from San Diego so it's hard to try meat tacos from other places unless I know for certain. I chatted with friendly customers and they too delighted in their meal choices with accolades. The vibe? Open-air beauty. Shaded by trees or sheltered by actual structures, it’s a spot where your margarita gets a little extra glow from the Catalina sun. Seating choices abound: bar, table, or those high-top seats that let you sip and spy on passing golf carts. Full bar, clean restrooms, mobile-accessible, and full of the kind of warm service that makes you feel like you’ve been coming here for years—even if it’s your first time. INSIDER KNOWLEDGE: Catalina’s got a couple other Mexican joints near the center, I’d steer you away from them with a firm flick of my tortilla. The Sandtrap? This eatery is solid—no gimmicks and no regrets, generally. Whether you're a curious tourist, hungry hiker, golf cart adventurer, or just someone who knows a good taco when they see one—The Sandtrap is your Catalina calling.

Decent stop on our e-bike tour. $2 happy hour tacos starting at 2pm but be forewarned: there's only one order taker, and the line gets LONG.

Really tasty. If we had come here earlier in our trip I know we would have visited more than once. We were there at an odd time and it was empty. I imagine this is quite a lively place when it's busy.

One of the best places to eat & / drink in town. Good to see a long term family business still in Avalon, Santa Catalina Island, California. Tacos are yummy.
Liz S — Google review
This place is a vibe. You stroll in post hike or after wandering around Avalon and it somehow welcomes you like it’s been waiting there just for you. Portions are generous, your wallet doesn’t collapse when you pay, and that fish and chips basket was so crispy and satisfying I briefly considered building a shrine to it. We split a bacon cheeseburger, fries, and fish and chips basket and still debated which was the real MVP. Full confession: I’m a die hard burger guy, and yet that fish had me second guessing life choices. Staff were super nice, making you feel like you weren’t just buying food, you were feeding your soul. The setting is great too. You’ve got that indoor outdoor dining deal going, birds and squirrels eyeing your table like they’re ready for a snack heist, and you can’t help but feel like you stumbled into some secret Puerto inspired breakfast nook but with tacos and margaritas replacing churros. Honestly, if you wander in here and don’t walk out thinking “this was well worth the detour,” check your taste buds. Sand Trap is the kind of hidden spot that makes Catalina Island feel like more than just a postcard scene, it makes it feel delicious too. You owe it to your stomach to give it a go.

Optional covered or umbrella patio seating outside. Can be chilly in evening hours. Beautiful view of golf course, mountains, school, hospital, street and horse stables. Always great food, fast and friendly service, best prices in town. I highly recommend. They have many items to choose from menu for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner. Give the Sandtrap 10 stars

The Catalina Island Conservancy Trailhead is a hub for island exploration, offering brochures, hiking and biking permits, and a cafe. Visitors rave about the knowledgeable and passionate tour guides who provide insights into the island's history, wildlife, and natural resources. The tours offer up-close encounters with bison and other wildlife while sharing information about good dining spots.
Lindsey was absolutely amazing! She shared so much fascinating history about Catalina Island, making the experience even more special. If you’re visiting Catalina, this tour is the way to see the entire island—no joke! Most tourists only get access to Avalon, which is just about 15% of the island, but this tour takes you beyond that. I highly recommend it, and if you can, ask for Lindsey—she’s the best!

Our family took the 3 hr tour with Christian on 7/16 - we had a range of ages from 5 to late 30s. We all had fun and learned so much about the island on our first day. We definitely recommend the 3 hour tour, and especially with Christian. His love of the island, conservation, and sense of humor made the trim completely memorable and iconic. Absolutely recommend this tour!

Ask for Lindsey as your tour guide! We did the 2 hour eco tour and it was incredible thanks to Lindsey. Her knowledge of the island, the conservency, geology, and random facts is incredible. Add to that a great sense of humor and you won't believe how fast 2 hours can go by.

WoW does Lindsey provide a wonderful tour. We did a 2 hour tour towards the end of Oct and we saw bison, incredible views, and learned so much about the island. Lindsey shared great info, interesting tales, and had a wonderful sense of humor and kept our safety forefront. From better understanding the deer controversy, to seeing the Wrigley plane & people up at the airport, we really enjoyed our trek. We each were pampered with fresh waters right from the start and then warm blankets once the wind picked up at the top of the island. Nice!!Also, if we wanted, we were able to switch seats at our different stops, so we could each try the 'steep' side~ ooooo!!!! We'd love to do another tour with Lindsey when we make it back ~ thanks Linds & congrats again!!

Nice place to start your exploration of the islands. If you buy tickets to the garden here you get transportation to the garden. The view from the top is nice.

Tour guide Teresa was awesome! Very knowledgeable about the island's history, wild life, and natural resources. Our 2hr. tour was great! we were lucky enough to get an up close view of the many bison and other wild life. Towards the end with some time left, she circled around allowing us to gain a little more knowledge regarding some good spots to eat which were spot on. Thanks! I would definitely recommend the tour!

We did the 3 hour Ecotour with Shaun and he was absolutely phenomenal! Not only was he incredibly warm and welcoming, but very educated and informative during the tour. In terms of wildlife we saw lots of bison, a little fox, along with birds and squirrels. Beautiful scenery, and Shaun's narration really made the experience wonderful. Will be coming back for sure!

My son and I had a wonderful experience taking the 3hr Eco Tour of Catalina Island. Shawn, our driver and guide, was so interesting and filled with fascinating insight and information related to the island. What we saw and learned dramatically expanded our appreciation for Catalina not only as a place to visit and relax, but to respect and protect.

Catalina Island Golf Cart Rentals

Catalina Island Golf Cart Rentals offer a thrilling way to explore the island's scenic beauty and local lifestyle. The rental process is convenient, with credit card payment accepted for the first hour and cash for the second. However, rentals are limited to two hours. The drive provides breathtaking views and insights into how Catalina residents live. Drivers must be insured, licensed, and over 25 years old, adhering to California road laws.
I can give this place five stars because we did our homework before we came to Catalina and knew what to expect. And we didn't have any issues. You have to have some cash to put down as a deposit for the rental of the cart. The rest can be paid with a credit card if you choose. The reason they want cash for part of it is if you do use the cart for a whole two hours they prorate you by the minute and give you cash back. It works out great. (There is a US Bank ATM nearby) We also got off the cruise ship about 10 minutes before they opened so we were one of the first in line that morning. The process was quick, the map and information they give was helpful, and the golf cart ran smoothly up and down the hills. We made several stops at scenic routes as well as parked at the botanical gardens and walked that for approx 40 minutes. We got back to the rental place with a total time of 105 minutes rented. They gave us a few bucks back and we went on our way. Great experience.

Visiting Catalina Island for three nights so being a couple, we decided we wanted to rent a golf cart to see more of the island. We did a driving tour the day before so we saw deeper into the mountains, but we really wanted to rent a cart to take our time closer to Avalon and see more local sights. A lot of the negative reviews of this place seem to be from middle aged and older ladies who had a bad customer experience. I think that is an important part of any transaction, but I think the service rendered is more important than the attitude of the staff. Their job is to rent you your cart and intake it not really deal with customers like a hotel or restaurant would. We rented a golf cart for an hour and it was $65 cash for the deposit and $65 for the rental. When you return the rental you get your $65 back in cash unless you go over your time limit and then they take out part of the cash for the late fee. I would recommend renting it for two hours if you want to see all the sites though. We drove around the entire yellow route, but there was not enough time to stop at the botanical gardens without being late past the hour. I would say you need at least 90 minutes minimum to see everything but two hours would just be more convenient. They have four and six seater carts available at different price rates and honestly, even though there is a long line sometimes it moves quickly because they have a lot of carts to rent. This place is very busy all day so they really specialize in getting people in and out which I think is where some of the negative reviews came from. These people are just trying to hustle and service as many customers as possible. For high-level service seek that on the mainland or in more refined establishments. I would recommend and would rent this place again next time I’m on the island.
Zan L — Google review
Writing this review as a warning. I would strongly recommend renting from a different golf cart company. The entire process dealing with this company is one of the most mentally exhausting 1 hour processes of my life. It's total and complete chaos of employees yelling all around you, being extremely rude, and treating people disrespectfully. I watched one worker tell multiple people in line that their English was not good enough and to leave. I've never seen anything like that in my life. I could not believe it. The workers were so rude, and clearly hate working with the public. Absolutely terrible customer service. I will note this only applies to the workers when you're in line or during payment. The workers running the actual golf carts and showing you to your assigned cart were great. The whole payment process is overly complicated for no reason. $65 deposit cash and $65 credit. That is total nonsense. We returned our cart at 59 minutes and 21 seconds (I ran a stop watch as soon as we pulled away because I could see so many upset people when I left) and I could tell the guy at the back desk was thinking about charging me for the extra hour. Ultimately he gave me back the $65, but I saw people before me lose their $65 for being 5-10 minutes over the hour and a few after me. I understand, but great customer service isn't going to charge people an entire extra $65 for 5 minutes more. Whoever runs this business clearly only cares about money, and not about training their staff in customer service. I would return to Catalina Island again, but I would never return and do business at this location. I'm not alone, look at all the other negative reviews.

Came here midweek in July 2025. Rented a 4 person golf cart for 2 hours. It was semi busy with a little line of people wanting to rent but we were able to do the paperwork and get the golf cart in about 15 min. The gentleman that helped us was quick and professional. People saying you must pay cash is wrong. Cash is only required for the deposit. You can use credit card to pay for the rental which was $65 per hour. We even got $15 back because we returned the cart back a little early. People complaining about bad customer service probably deserved it because customers can be big B holes and demanding. If you rent for 1 hour and bring it back after 1 hour of course you're going to be charged extra, duh! Overall I would rent from here again and I recommend this place. During the 2 hours we did see the golf cart company's representative twice monitoring golf carts parked along the route to make sure no underage drivers were driving and probably to make sure nobody was driving crazy. Understandable.
Art H — Google review
Disappointed experience!!! The worse costumer service. Over the weekend, we visited the island and decided to rent a golf cart to explore. Unfortunately, there was a two-hour wait, so we put our names on the waitlist and went to grab a bite to eat. While we were walking back, my younger cousins were given some fun hats by some other visitors who no longer wanted them. When we returned to pick up our golf cart, we were told that we couldn’t rent it because of the hats. The staff assumed that anyone wearing these hats had been drinking, even though my cousins, who had the hats, were underage and definitely hadn’t been drinking. We explained that the driver of the cart wasn’t wearing a hat and hadn’t been drinking, but they still refused to rent to us. It was really frustrating after waiting for so long and put a damper on our day. Overall, it was a really disappointing experience.
Aliuska H — Google review
The first time I came to this beautiful island with great expectation, I came to this car rental company, and I was severely discriminated by language. My English was not good, so I simply communicated. When I said that my English was not good, I took out my translator and the staff refused to use it. Then I said that I couldn't speak English, so I couldn't rent a car here, and I was ruthlessly driven out. I think any country or any tourist attraction should not discriminate because of language problems, and the company and the staff made bad comments.
Ying Z — Google review
I rented here and had a great time, these reviews seem to omit the fact that most of them broke rules, the place has city hall imposed limits on time so of course there's a time maximum, the cash only deposit is pro-rated 1$ and some cents a minute cause the employee explained they don't keep a tab on card and the card machine doesn't work for partial refunds, the cash made it easier on my return to just sign and get whatever was left (my group did 1hr and a half so we got half the deposit back). It's not hard to understand their rules since I did see another person crash their cart and someone else drove on a sidewalk, just don't break rules, simple.
Sam A — Google review
Me and my big family went out to the island to have a good time and enjoy the weekend then came the worst nightmare, an angry supervisor who deny us service! We received the worst customer service from this lady in the picture behind the counter (she refused to give me her name) She denied us service simply because she suspected I will be having more people on the cart because she saw a large group with us but some of us don’t like to do the golf cart thing as I clearly explained. It seems like she was having a bad day and took it out on us. By denying us service, we couldn’t rent any golf carts for the rest of the day because they’re the only place that rents 6 person carts. Our plans were ruined because of some lady’s ego. Thank you (lady in the picture) for ruining our vacation plans. The sad part is, I went back to her an hour later and tried to apologize for something I didn’t do and told her, Im sorry if I did anything to upset you but I wasn’t trying to do that, and asked her if she can please have us rent it because no other place rents them, we are good people, she was very cold and said no. I was blown away!! P.s. during the 10-15 minutes at their store, 2 different customers were arguing with this same supervisor who were also denied service from what they told me, I couldn’t believe my eyes!

Golf Gardens Miniature Golf on Catalina Island is a popular family attraction with an acclaimed 18-hole course known for its scenic and challenging layout. Operating for over 40 years, this par-51 course is located near Avalon's beachfront and offers daily fun for visitors of all ages. The well-planned and diverse holes provide a unique and enjoyable experience, set amidst lush greenery that adds to the serene atmosphere.
So much fun for the kiddos. It’s 18 holes and some are very difficult so we just have the kids bypass the difficult parts. Very fun. Took a long time. We were starving.
Dana B — Google review
A really fun 18 hole miniature golf course right in the heart of Avalon. It’s the only miniature golf course in town, but even if there were others, this one would still be worth visiting. It’s laid out pretty well, is all outdoors but has a lot of tree cover and is fairly close to the ocean which is certainly not common for the usual mini courses. It’s $15 for adults and the staff member at the window was very polite. We were playing as two adults who were just looking for a way to kill time during our three day visit to Catalina and honestly had a great time. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the island and I would play again in the future because the course was pretty well maintained aside from some debris around. Give it a try!

Visited on a July Monday evening with 10 guests - walked right on and pretty much had it to ourselves the entire time. Beautiful mini golf course with 18 unique holes/layout and pretty trees/landscaping. They also said once you pay for your mini golf, you can return to play again in the same day. Nice, easygoing activity for all ages. Would recommend!
Jamie O — Google review
This mini-golf course is one of my favorites. The holes are well planned out and all very different. The unique holes make it fun every time. The course is larger, so the holes are more challenging than when playing on small courses. The course it in the middle of Avalon but tucked away and surrounded by lots of trees and plants. It never feels crowded as you can't see everyone on the course given the layout. We play multiple times when we come, especially since you get a $5 replay. It takes a group of 4-6 about an hour to play.

Amazing Family Fun at Glow Golf, Thanks Lily! What a blast we had at Glow Golf last night! We brought the whole family, and even though it felt like half the island had the same idea (it was super busy!), Lily made our experience truly fantastic. Playing the course at night was incredibly fun, and the kids absolutely loved the glow-in-the-dark balls – it added such a cool touch. Lily was so helpful and made sure we had everything we needed, even with the crowds. We're already planning our next visit; we'll definitely be back!

Highly recommend going here! A really nicely laid out mini golf course with 18 holes, fun variety of course challenges. We had a blast here. Takes about a full hour with four people enjoying it at a normal pace and not rushing through. Also there's a lot of shade in this course so even if it's hot outside this is a good place to go to enjoy the day.

Catalina Island is a popular destination for tourists, with golf carts being a common mode of transportation due to the high cost of maintaining cars and the expensive gas prices. Visitors can rent golf carts, bicycles, and electric bicycles to explore the island at their own pace. Despite the challenges posed by the Covid lockdown, travelers found Catalina Island to be a peaceful and quiet getaway with no overwhelming crowds.
The bison tour! Yes, I know it is a little bit pricey, but it is probably the best tour that I have taken in Catalina and I have gone on quite a few. You get to ride around in an off-road vehicle for a couple of hours. If you’re lucky, you will get to see some of the herds of bison running around the island. He will also get some major historical information. Our guide was named bear and he was really great. Well experienced and extremely knowledgeable about the island. Really cool to think back of how things were 100 years ago. On this island. Really cool history. If you like older historical buildings and history to go with it, this is the place in the tour for you.

I did the Bison Expedition and it was so much fun! The office attendant Warren was so kind and helpful, and our driver Halvy was incredibly knowledgeable about the island and SO FUNNY!! My family and I had an amazing time thanks to the crew. The views were stunning and we got to see a herd of Bison, and even a Red Tailed Hawk! 10/10 would do this tour again and again.

Ridgetop Eco Adventure Tour was fantastic! My wife and I sat in the second row of the Hummer (directly behind the driver). I am 6'03" and I found that spot to have plenty of room. The tour took us to high elevations and the back of the island where the views were amazing! At one point we got up close and personal with a large bison that was just hanging out. The driver/tour guide was outstanding. He provided a great narrative with great music and he was hilarious. My only caution is to reiterate the part about people with back or neck problems probably shouldn't do this one. This was not slow rock crawling like I was used to, it was constant movement over bumpy terrain. That being said, I got my 4-wheeling fix in while seeing the sights and learning some history. Great tour!

This was disappointing. It’s a two hour tour for us just a tour of the island an hour up to the airport where you can stop go to the restroom and spend more money and then back down to the starting point. No Bison .. It was more disappointing, watching the children that were super excited to go on this tour to see bison only to see nothing at all… Especially for the larger families that spent a ton of money to see bison…. It is pricey they should at least have an idea of where a few of them are… especially for the price that you pay to go out there and see “ bison”.. (We just did this “tour 2 days ago and you have Bison tour posts from 2 weeks ago) so no I am not removing.. Instead it was a tour and history lesson for the island..🙄

I visited the island for my anniversary. (March 2023) And my first time taking the bison tour, Halvy gave me one of the best tours me and my fiancee have ever had. Absolute experience we'll never forget. this man knew everything about the island and more. truly loves his job the way he gives 110% in his tour of the island, loved his dishwasher story and his joyful uplifting attitude. Thanks Halvy Halverson!

Three Palms Avalon Arcade is a popular spot on Catalina Island, featuring classic arcade games and island bowling. It also houses a post office, stores, and a coffee cafe. The arcade offers various activities for kids, including video games and Skee-Ball with the opportunity to earn tickets for prizes. Additionally, there's a restaurant serving delicious sharable plates like wings, pizza, fish tacos, and fresh salads.
My wife and I decided to check the arcade and bowling alley out. We had a lot of fun! The staff there were so great. We bowled, played arcade games, and just enjoyed our time there. $9 to bowl, can’t beat that. Highly recommend checking this place out if you have time to spare!
J G — Google review
Wanted to play a game of bowling, it said 36 credits, we paid to play… but it only allowed one person to play bowling. I wanted a refund & they would only refund me credit. I said, it should be labeled as 36 credits per person, and the brunette girl worked was very rude & argumentative & said I should’ve asked & refused to refund me my money. But I would’ve never spent that money, had I known that the bowling cost that much. Terrible experience, did not want to stay & play the credits after such a nasty host asking me what’s the problem, when the problem was obviously I wanted my money back, when it’s ridiculous to think that an arcade would think one person would want to bowl alone… SCAM

The food is so amazing...we had lunch there and returned for dinner! Shared crispy green beans while he had chilaquiles adding egg and I enjoyed the baja fish tacos (plain). There was a lot of fish on those tacos. I preferred the chipotle aioli sauce with tacos. For dinner, we had pesto pizza and calamari. (side note, these green beans are 100% better than the ones at The Habit)

Wonderful place to bring the kids after a long day of tourist activities! They were able to enjoy themselves with the variety of games here including air hockey, giant shooting games, and even bowling! It's nice that Avalon has this here for families traveling with children since so much of the island is geared towards adults relaxing and enjoying the view. This place uses point cards that kids use for playing the games and storing their tickets that they win from the games.
Daniel S — Google review
This place was good , affordable prices and the service was fast. I’m from L.A and working here for the summer so it’s difficult at times finding affordable good food on the island . I ordered the carne asada quesadilla, the red chili /salsa was good and not too spicy . The food tasted fresh it had pico the gallo and avocado. I’m excited to try the rest of the menu .
Carina S — Google review
This place is a lot of fun if you have some kids who like to play arcade games. It has video games, Skee-Ball, and all sorts of things you can do to earn tickets. The tickets can be redeemed for different prizes, it gets expensive quickly and as all of these arcades you would probably be better off just buying a toy if that is what you want but the fun of this arcade is using and playing all of machines. None of the machines take quarters you put money I card that can be used to activate the game.
Mr. J — Google review
Fun idea, but overall a fail. More than half the games in the arcade were "out of order". The basket balls for the Connect4 (fun game!) were torn & super old. Entire arcade was quite dirty & could use a bit of attention.

New American restaurant
The Naughty Fox is a new Italian restaurant located in Catalina Island, offering a menu inspired by the seaside locale. The restaurant provides a variety of shareable plates and unique cocktails, making it an ideal spot for couples. Guests can enjoy dishes like Poke Nachos and drinks such as the Foxy Lady cocktail while taking in views of the harbor.
Outdoor seating was cold out. Nachos were great asked for extra sauce on side to add to bottom chips that didn’t have enough sauce. Burger was great fries were thick and crispy. Service was slow.

Delicious! We were on the island for 5 days, and everyday we ate at at least one restaurant. The Naughty Fox was my favorite! I got the Cataline Chicken Bowl, and I ate ALL of it! So refreshing and you won't feel like you overate. The hubby got the Ahi Poke Nachos and he said it was great. I don't like raw fish, but I tried a chip with the poke sauce and it was very good! My girls got a salad and burger, and they both liked theirs. My 16 year old said that the chicken in her salad was dry, but everything else was good. Our drinks were really good too! We got the Chile Mango Margarite and the Svelt Strawberry... SO GOOD! We will be going back FOR SURE! The worst part is the lack of seating, but it was worth the 15 minute wait.

We got lucky finding this good quality restaurant in Avalon, food was incredible and delicious. It took awhile for us to be seated and order food but they made up for it by being flexible on the menu, patient in explaining everything, giving recommendations. We got two chicken bowls and mac & cheese without lobster. Our go to lunch spot from now on!
Passion M — Google review
The Naughty Fox is in a nice location with a good view. The servers are helpful and attentive, even with a to-go order the presentation was nice. I do agree with other reviewers that the cost to portion size is on the smaller side. What I did have was very good though. It would be five stars across the board if it was a little more reasonable.

Came here for brunch and it was sooo delicious! We got the mimosa flight & got to choose 4 different puree flavors and it did not disappoint. Great location right next to the water too. A little expensive but everywhere here is pricey.
Livia D — Google review
This place was pretty decent. The service was all right nothing special. The guy kind of seemed bored and just very nonchalant. But the poke nachos were definitely the highlight with the wonton chips.

Good little spot off the path of of Avalon. Food was good and service was quick. They have a cool bar spot that's half outdoors. Also they have some outdoor seating that gives you a great view of the ocean.
Chris S — Google review
We came here for the brunch menu, I thought it was a little overpriced for the portion even for catalina. The service was fantastic no complaints there, the food was mid though. It seemed like they had cool drinks but we didnt get to try it. We got the breakfast burrito with ham as pictured, and the "breakfast sandwich" which came in a bagle

Bar
Topside by NDMK is a newly opened rooftop restaurant in Catalina that offers stunning views and classic American dishes at reasonable prices. The open and breezy top deck provides beautiful vistas, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing meal. The seafood risotto and chicken piccata are highly recommended for their delicious flavors. Additionally, the restaurant's event manager is praised for providing excellent service, ensuring that special occasions are memorable.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the top side NDMK. We went during dinner and we had a group of eight and we were sat quickly. The view from the restaurant is very beautiful and we were able to order drinks right away. They provide options such as IPA, beers and other cocktails at a reasonable price. The entrees have a lot of variability so you can find fish tacos for about $22 and plates that run well over $150 since crab and the meat are at market price so they will vary depending on the availability and season. I tried the seafood pasta dish with fresh scallops and shrimp and lobster from locally sourced seafood and it was truly delicious. I would rate it a 10 out of 10 and I have never had a better pasta in my life. The sauce was delicious and unique and the seafood itself was extremely fresh. Overall it seemed like the entire party was satisfied with their food and I would definitely go back to Catalina Island just to try this restaurant one more time. I hope you have a positive experience.

One of the nice, easygoing restaurants near the harbor. It’s never too crowded, so you can enjoy a quiet meal every time you visit. Sitting on the terrace is especially nice with a pleasant outdoor view. The food is generally quite good. I ordered hot tea, but they only gave a few tea bags with hot water — it felt a bit overpriced for what it was.
Sasha M — Google review
The service was good. The drink was good. Had a cool ocean breeze coming through the window. The breakfast burrito did lack some flavor, but at least you could tell that it was fresh, never frozen though. Omar was awesome and it is a great place to unwind for a second before continuing about your day
Lashaud P — Google review
Entry felt too noisy with public crawls..but we were guided to the 3rd level..amazing views..great weather..we were served by Fidel...who was awesome. It was easy to order even as a vegetarian...The mushroom soup was creamy and tasty..garlic bread was good...salad with ceasers dressing was OK...for non vegetarian.. sword fish ruled ...grilled sandwich too was nice e. A chocolate pastry complimentary for son's birthday was icing on the cake..superb..great footfalls and appreciation
Dr.Mohina K — Google review
Such a pretty place for such a bad experience. I don’t knew why staff looks at you weird when you walk into the restaurant. They do disappear for a 20 min between drinks and food orders even though they only had about 3 tables occupied with about 3or4 people each. All I ordered was a Caesar salad and fried pickles and the dough from the pickles was raw on the inside and the Cesar salad had so much water in it that I tasted like just that WATER Also this was a $4 coke $8 pickles $16 salad +tax+18-%tip= $41 …
Nelsy M — Google review
Amazed by the food we had here. Best surf and turf i have ever had and the presentation was off the charts. My boyfriend got the Dark Seas pasta and that also did not miss. Also shared the Broiled scallops for appetizer. We will be returning on our next trip to Avalon!!!
Katelyn J — Google review
Their pickle pear margarita was very good and I also really like their empanada. The atmosphere is really cool inside. Up on the roof would’ve been cool to sit on but with the sun blazing didn’t get that opportunity.
Kristina B — Google review
We visited NDMK twice during our 5-day stay on Catalina and had a very pleasant experience both times. The food is good, the views are great (especially from the rooftop dining/seating area), but what really made it special was the top-notch service by Omar (bartender, waiter, and very pleasant soul)! He went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and well attended to. And his "near-beer" drink is one of the best drinks we've ever had and our new all-time favorite! Omar rocks! We'll definitely be back!

Came to grab some food during our recent cruise ship stop. Nice clean store, wide variety of deli items. Decent prices on stuff you would otherwise pay more for on a cruise ship. Has self-check-out. Would highly suggest if your picking up foods/snacks for your cruise cabin. Easy to find

Came in to gather some items for a BBQ we were having while visiting the island, found all the necessities here. Nice clean store however minus 2 stars for our cashier Batina who was acting inappropriately during check out. She asked us if we wanted to donate a lunch bag or something and we polity said not today, she then got very loud and repeated back while making a funny face You don’t want to donate? She seemed angry after that and it really made us feel uncomfortable. None of the other cashiers during our stay on the island acted like this so we thought this women was very strange, also noticed she was behaving this way to the man ahead of us and he appeared uncomfortable too. Other than that experience the store had all we needed for our stay.
Alvin V — Google review
Very understaffed, particularly the deli, meat and bakery departments. They have a great selection and a great option if you are in Catalina and want to pick up items for breakfast and lunch vs eating out all the time. But zero staff to help in these departments. I was waiting for a long time at the deli counter and finally asked the employee in the sandwich bar if there was anybody in the deli section. He was kind of rude, but the bottomline is no, there wasn’t. And he was busy helping the long sandwich line.
Brett L — Google review
Nice clean well stocked store. People working here not friendly at all, hate tourists, so it seemed. Service is acceptable but rude and ignoring customers in front of their nose. No eye contact, move on, nothing here to see.
Debbie C — Google review
Great location walking distance from the beach and hotels, their wine selection was better then anticipated for a small store. But we had a very loud and unprofessional cashier named Batinna. She was holding up the line making loud and inappropriate comments. She was rude to us; Raising her voice and acting strange People were starring at her and she seems have no common sense or filter. Really surprised they would have someone acting like this in the store, we were told by a local he said she has a list of complaints but they keep paying to have her brought over. Anyways we got wine and snacks and are overall the selection was just as good as the other stores.

Flx Biergarten is a must-visit bar in Avalon, Catalina, offering a diverse selection of craft beers and a vibrant atmosphere. It pays tribute to the island's history with its name inspired by the iconic '50s Flxible buses. The biergarten provides ample seating and various games like beer pong and Jenga for entertainment. Visitors praise the friendly service, great beer selection, and overall chill vibes.
We are visiting from the valley, bathrooms are excellent and neat. The food is great/service was awesome! Michael is amazing he is fast and quick, and here if you need anything. They have fires and TVs it is a nice chill out area, and good food.

But we see Avalon Smoke houses a local Pitmaster does his thing here. Be back tomorrow for that. . Killer beers on tap. And Michael the lead dude really took great care of us. You can tell he loves creating a welcoming experience. You guys have a gem in Michael. Great energy and it made for a great time. We take care of so many people. Nestled just 1.5 miles up Avalon Canyon from the ferry terminal, Hermit Gulch Campground offers a stunning escape into nature. Located near the Wrigley Memorial and Botanical Garden, this campground features a variety of accommodations including tent sites and cozy tent cabins that can host groups of three to six people. Accessible by foot or via local transportation services, it provides essential amenities like flushable toilets and hot showers for a comfortable stay.
Backpack camped there for the weekend, camping on the island was a unique experience. Great spot to enjoy nature and not too far from fun activities in Avalon. It’s a nice 30 mins hike from pier to campsite passing through the town and by a beautiful golf course. You can also take the circuit ride there, getting a ride back to downtown Avalon might take a while. The rangers are helpful and friendly, the office closes at 5pm. The office is also a store selling water, canister, cold drinks and common camping needs. Keep a close eye on your food and keep food in the locker if you are away, learnt it the hard way.

I absolutely loved this camping and the friendliest host ever Pat! He was so helpful, always on duty, treated us with apricots from his tree behind his house! It has the best facilities, well-kept: clean toilets with running water, showers (25c per minute), outlets for charging phones, separate sink for dishes, vending machine with drinks and gas and wax logs for purchase. All camping sites should have all of the above. There are however a lot of traffic: carts driving by till late, people passing by to the Hermit Gulch trail (which conveniently starts right at the camping site), not a lot of trees or bushes to separate the sites from each other, but lots of animals who are stilling your food in a cutest manner (little island foxes, deers, crows and wood peckers). If you are looking for a comfortable camping, this is the place to go!
Vera I — Google review
The employees here are absolutely top notch, keeping the ground clean and well maintained. They go above and beyond to help if there's a problem and work with the Catalina ferry to help visitors when necessary. Huge shout out the all the employees here, they're awesome. Also campground is pretty great as well

My son and I had a wonderful stay at Hermit Gulch Campground, largely thanks to Adrian’s exceptional hospitality. He personally greeted campers by name and was incredibly kind and informative with my son—patiently answering his questions and sharing fascinating facts about the local wildlife. We stayed in a cabin equipped with comfortable cots, which greatly enhanced our comfort. The campground is teeming with wildlife such as foxes, deer, and woodpeckers, adding a special touch to our visit. Conveniently located just about a mile from Avalon, the site also offers a well-stocked campground shop with essentials like charcoal, propane, and quarters for showers. We are already looking forward to returning next summer.
Karen S — Google review
We had an amazing time at Hermit Gulch campground. The facilities are fantastic- flushing clean toilets, washing sink and tables, grills, picnic tables. Our tent cabins were very clean and roomy with front porch, propane stove and lantern. Outlets to charge phone or e-bike. Regina was so helpful with a little camp store right there for last minute things. She even gave our kids a printed scavenger hunt and honorary ranger pins. This was camping made super easy which is great since you can only take so much on the boat over. And site is so pretty and short walk into town. Just great.
Rebecca G — Google review
Definitely the loudest campground I have ever camped at. Campsites are tiny and basically stacked on top of each other. If your luck is like mine, you’ll be next to not one, but TWO trashy groups of neighbors blasting bluetooth speakers and screaming until 1am. You’d think for $70 a night they’d have a camp monitor. Has the potential to be good. Bathrooms were fine. Shower was fine (quarter operated and of course the quarter machine was out of order). In close proximity to some amazing hikes. But as other reviews have mentioned (over several years it appears) this place does nothing to enforce quiet hours.
Nick K — Google review
Quiet hours are not enforced, had two nights of drunk people. Had to call ranger twice in one night. Clean facilities, limited food storage, well maintained sites, lack of shade, sites sit on top one another so be prepared to have people walking through your site. Not a bad campground, but they need to have more of a staff presence (never got checked in/ greeted by anyone)

Hiking area
If you're seeking an exhilarating outdoor experience on Catalina Island, the Garden To Sky Summit Hike is a must-try. This 6.5-mile trek commences at Avalon's ferry landing and leads to the rugged hills' summit. The panoramic view from the top encompasses both ends of the island, offering stunning vistas of the Pacific Ocean and neighboring Channel Islands. The trail ascends steeply but rewards hikers with breathtaking scenery.
This is a beautiful moderate trail. Steep hike up. Bring water and good shoes. Enjoy Wrigleys botanical garden and the memorial on your way up. Keep going straight past the summit sign. At the top of the mountain go right to hermit gulch trail for a loop back to the botanical garden entrance. Walk down the hill for 20 minutes and enjoy lunch at the Sand Trap.
Virginia H — Google review
Recommend start early the gate open at 8 to avoid hot sun. Love the morning hike ! We saw a fox waking up in the middle of the trail.
Emi T — Google review
From the memorial this is a 3 mile hike total there and back. At the top the clouds passed right through us! Cool view of Avalon and the ocean on the other side of the island. We started from our room in Avalon and hiked all the way to entrance and then hiked past the Garden to Sky Summit. At the top you’ll have an option to go left or right. We went left and continued on for a few miles. In total we hiked 12 miles.
Aivree K — Google review
Great views. You enter the trail to the right of the stairs that go up to the monument.
Ben P — Google review
We got started at 11AM on Oct. 28. It was warm, approx 80F, so even though it's fall, it is still warm on Catalina. Cool to see the west side of island. We explored a little further to ridges and bluffs nearby to get better views. Saw lots of wildlife; check out the fox in the photos. Did Wrigley memorial on the way back - see photos: I like how they had storm water drainage through the mouths of the gargoyles or faces of the wall. Also check out the non-functional phone booth at entry to botanical garden. We forgot to take sandwiches for lunch, but enjoyed the Sandtrap on our way back into town. The hike is a good workout; just over 1100 feet climb in elevation from our house rental in Avalon. Took us maybe 2 hours total, but we're fit and kept good pace the entire way. Round trip from botanical garden can be done in 1 hour if pace is kept. I recommend the Sandtrap on the way back, see review for it on Google maps.
The S — Google review
This 3 Mile easy hike is the highlight if you visit Wrigley Botanical Garden and Memorial. Stunning views of Catalina Island and Beyond. The trail is a fire road with gradual accent to the summit. Along the way you will encounter the Wrigley Memorial. There’s a fee of $10 per person to enter. A must activity if you’re visiting Catalina Island.
Anthony I — Google review
The view is wonderful. Worth the hike. For summer, be aware u need lots of water to bring. Pretty hot even it was officially still spring. No shade. Need sunscreen for sure.
May D — Google review
To get to the trail head through the entrance to the Botanical Garden. Once you get to the base of the Wrigley Memorial the entrance is on the right, behind a gate. The gate isn't locked, just open it & head on up the trail. Did the trail right before sunset & had an amazing time. The views of both sides of the island are breathtaking.

The Catalina Island Conservancy Nature Center is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and those seeking tranquility. Nestled amidst stunning landscapes, the center features beautiful botanical gardens that showcase an impressive variety of flora from around the globe. For those who prefer not to hike up the hill, renting a golf cart offers a convenient way to reach the main entrance from downtown. The serene atmosphere allows visitors to enjoy the gardens almost in solitude, making it an ideal spot for relaxation.
The botanical gardens and Wrigley memorial are worth the walk up the hill, although a rented golf cart would get you to the main entrance from downtown as well if you don't want to trek up a lot of elevation. The garden has an immense amount of amazing flora from around the world and it is in excellent condition. We had the place almost to ourselves and it was so peaceful. The view from the top of the memorial is also one of the best you will find on Catalina.

Over the course of a decade, Mr. Wrigley implemented an ambitious plan for economic growth at the Catalina Country Club in which he constructed various facilities such as Bird Park and the renowned Catalina Casino Building. To enhance accessibility, he facilitated transportation to the island through two steamships. The restaurant boasts stunning vistas of the golf course and offers a delightful setting for lunch, dinner, or socializing with friends.
I was there to take down a voting center that was set up at the country club. Very old but very well maintained. It was a treat to have a couple of deer join me for lunch, lol! Next time I'd like to play golf there.

The restaurant has spectacular views of the golf course. Great for lunch, dinner or just drinks with friends. The food is really fresh and good quality with large servings. You definitely won't be disappointed!

We ordered seafood platter. Fresh local oysters and prawns with a large portion of fried and grilled seafood. Great value for money. Well done guys.

Avalon Kids Park, Avalon Dog Park

Park
Avalon Kids Park is a popular gathering spot located across the street from City Hall and the City Fire Station. It offers a variety of amenities for both local and visiting kids, including a large activity playset with jungle gym, slides, and monkey bars. The park also features an astro turf field for toddler soccer games or tween flag football matches, as well as unisex restrooms that are wheelchair accessible. Additionally, there is a small dog park and a workout station for parents.
This park is wonderful. With a beautiful and clean play area for children and an outdoor free gym for adults, what else can you ask for. The Peoples Park is a great concept park and the Avalon Canyon Fit Trail is a wonderful addition. I hope this concept expands elsewhere.

Fun little place to bring children 5-12 (age according to sign posted at park). The area is really well maintained and there's a little outdoor workout area with some free to use equipment. Nice spot to hang out at for a little bit and let your kids burn off some energy, and you can do the same at the workout spot right next to it. Also there are some good bathrooms here and some tables and benches for eating if you want to.

Clean and safe, the beaver log toy is really fun. Intermediate slide and also a very fast slide my 4yo loved! Great little park and there is a work out area for parents a few steps next to it. The colors make it look like Disneys Frozen theme. The monkey bars were exceptionally fun as well, very spread out and challenging for my 4yo. Not too high also, which is great because she wasn't scared. Definitely visit this park

I was waiting to horseback ride on the island and stopped by the kids park to lay on the grass to kill some time. Seems like the kids were having so much fun there. Great little Park!
Kirt S — Google review
Both local and visitor kids can burn their energy off at this park to play on jungle gym, slides, monkey bars and more with the large activity playset at this park. Toddler game of soccor or tweens playing flag football. Astro turf and walk through passage, unisex restrooms large for handicap or wheelchair accessible. Workout station and small dog park. Family parties and gatherings for bbque picnic tables and small stage to perform. Nice clean park for all to enjoy.

Be mindful of the bees! There were a ton out, despite it being pretty chilly outside. They followed the kids all over the jungle gym, so let your tots know not to bother them as they play. Bathrooms were alright in cleanliness. No changing station inside (at least in the one on the left). Overall, a decent little park more removed from the hustle-bustle of the shops and foot traffic.
Jenn H — Google review
Clean, close to main strip and includes a wide range of resistance weight equipment. Lovely to have a workout outdoors.
Tiffany A — Google review
Nice little park with barbecue area, tables, stage, playground, and bathrooms. Not much open space, but it does have a little grassy area. Right off the main road so traffic often going by.

A solid breakfast diner in the heart of Avalon. Stopped in for my first time this morning and overall we had a nice breakfast. It’s not quite as good as a lot of spots on the mainland, but given its location I feel they did a good job. It was quite busy on a Thursday morning, so I’m sure it can get even crazier on weekends. They have a very large menu filled with all sorts of classic dishes so choosing some thing was a bit of a challenge given how many options there were. Our server was polite, although we just saw him at the very beginning of our meal and not again. Our dishes arrived actually pretty slowly, but given that I’m sure the kitchen is smaller than a lot of mainland kitchens I won’t fault them too much for that. Pricing is also pretty fair given that it’s island food and feel it would be a good stop if you’re in the area and looking for breakfast. For my breakfast I chose the Dungeness Crab Eggs, Benedict and thought it was pretty good. The sauce was more watery than I prefer, and the Dungeness Crab was very chopped, almost like burger meat, so I wish it would’ve been more in chunk form like you see in a Dungeness Crab Cocktail. Also the hashbrowns could have been a bit crispy but overall not a bad meal. They do have Kona Coffee so the coffee was very strong and tasty, which may have been my favorite part of the meal. I would suggest if you are in Avalon and looking for a nice place to have breakfast.

Visited on a Wednesday morning with a group of 10 - seated 1 group indoor and outdoor. Restaurant was quite busy - service was a little slow and a few things forgotten/had to remind and ask to bring out. -Fries -Vanilla Milkshake (asked for it/wasn't om the menu) -Pancakes -Kids Benedict Everything was pretty good. Would recommend for a casual breakfast or lunch.

We arrived for brunch around 9:30am on a Saturday and the place was packed. Luckily, they were able to seat us quickly. I ordered the Catalina veggie omelette, which came with hollandaise sauce, pancakes, and fresh fruit, my friend ordered the Belgian waffle with strawberries, and my other friend ordered orange juice and chicken fried steak, which came with hashbrowns and biscuits and gravy. Service was very quick and the food came out fast. While not the best food I've ever had, it helped fuel us for the rest of our day kayaking and touring the island.

We visited here for dinner though. It's very popular breakfast place. We were very happy to be escorted to a nice table. Esmeralda took the orders and helped guide us through the availability of Italian dishes. I took the salad and the minestron soup. They were excellent. Noodles with meatballs and well cooked. Rub yeoli dish with spinach. Everything tasted, yummy drinks were available. We went in for simple Coke and water. The service was very good and being a birthday. They gave a complimentary tiramisu, which was icing on the cake. Excellent place. We enjoyed all the hospitality and great service. Very reasonable prices and made evelyn, even more memorable

Breakfast was busy but they managed to get the food out pretty quickly. Whatever they order the food on, I guess sends it straight to the kitchen so it didn't take long. Drinks were great. Food was even better.
Lesha H — Google review
Nothing fancy about this place, a bit dated if I say so myself. But I’m sure that’s where the discount is coming from. The soda pop cups are more European sized, with just a refill; with the exception of coffee. The food is delicious, I had the eggs Benedict which for some reason most restaurants butcher. My whole family enjoyed their viddles as well. Too many to list. Cons: the Helppp, my, my this sir with no hair seemed to be bothered. I felt like at any second he would say hurry up and byeee. Regardless, good food bad service.

Great food! Small space, definitely felt a family vibe there. This place is felt unreal, just 50 feet away you got the beach and other shops. I will definitely come back!
