Points of Interest & Landmarks
Nestled within a lush forest, Meiji Jingu is a serene Shinto shrine dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. Established in 1920 and reconstructed after World War II, this tranquil haven features over 100,000 trees donated from across Japan. Each year during Golden Week in late April, the shrine comes alive with its vibrant spring festival that showcases traditional performances like Bugaku dance and Noh theater.
This place is in the heart of Tokyo as well, the Meiji Jingu. I was surprised because the place is vast. When entering, you can really feel that you are inside of a sacred place. You can only here the sounds of the bird while walking even though there's a lot of people coming and going. The forest gives a peaceful vibes and I really liked it. The walk is long but when you reach the main temple, it is really crowded but still happy to see it. I was also interested at the couple tree and we were so blessed to see a wedding pictorial there. We also went to the Well. It has an additional maintenance fee but unfortunately we didn't see much because it is a seasonal based spot. Overall we enjoyed the walk.

PROS ➕ Large shrines and walking paths ➕ Plenty of POIs CONS ➖ None Date visited: 05/01/2024 This place was packed during the holiday, so I decided to enter through one of the side gates. It was much less busy than I had anticipated. The gate led me to a wide, gravel path stretching through a large wooded area. Urban sounds were subdued, even though I was in the middle of Tokyo, thanks to the trees acting as a natural sound barrier. The path split and curved at every corner. Eventually, I reached the main shrine. The rain didn’t stop lines of people from visiting this sacred place. I made my way to the side hall where Goshuin seals were being distributed. The waiting line wasn’t long, but it still took nearly an hour to receive my seal. Thankfully, I didn’t mind spending time there, gazing at ancient structures and the surrounding nature while I waited. I can imagine it would be a blessing to live in this area. The forest alone provides hours of relaxation and immersion in nature.
Thang — Google review
This shrine was really peaceful and beautiful, and what makes it even better is that everything is completely free—no entry fees, no lines, and no waiting. You can just walk right in and enjoy it at your own pace. It’s located right by a park, which makes the entire area feel even more scenic. The path itself is gorgeous, especially right now, with plenty of greenery and quiet spots to take in. It has that same calm, natural charm that many shrines do, but what stood out most to me was how it feels like you’ve completely left the city behind. My friend and I both commented on how relaxing it was to walk around—it almost feels like a hidden escape in the middle of everything. If you’re looking for a peaceful stroll or just a moment away from the city noise, this is the perfect spot to unwind.
Marissa W — Google review
This place was incredible! Tucked into the heart of downtown Tokyo this shrine is a MASSIVE devotion to nature and serenity. The entrance to the massive forest off of the busy Tokyo streets felt completely surreal and a perfect representation of the importance of these shrines in Tokyo. Full of history and significance I cannot emphasize enough how incredible this place was. If you’re only in Tokyo for a day or two it should be your mission to visit Meiji Jingu.
Benjamin K — Google review
We came here around 5pm and it was still really busy, but the moment you walk through the big torii gate you can still feel how calm the place is. The forest path is beautiful and quiet, even though it’s right in the middle of the city. It really gives you a break from all the crowds in Harajuku. The shrine itself is simple but very beautiful. It’s not about flashy decorations, it’s more about the atmosphere and the space. Even with people around, it still feels peaceful and respectful. If you’re already in Harajuku or Shibuya, it’s an easy walk and definitely worth visiting — especially if you want a little moment of quiet after being in the city all day.
Zella B — Google review
Even with all the tourists around, this is probably one of my favorite spots in Tokyo. There are so many entrances you can come from, which is nice. We went in from the Harajuku entrance and the torii gates were beautiful and super serene. It really makes you wish you had places like this back home. The walk from Harajuku to the actual Meiji Jingu shrine area is about 20 minutes, but honestly, it’s such a pleasant walk. I really enjoyed it.
Elijah E — Google review
One of the highlights of my trip so far! The temple grounds are amazing. The garden was luscious and beautiful. So very peaceful. And the treasure museum was a particular high with it's display on Japanese Sword Craft! Everywhere we looked it was so beautiful. Even the sheer number of spiders we saw in the forest were incredible to look at!
Praxis A — Google review
A beautiful and expansive shrine, but absolutely packed with people no matter where you are. The torii gates are huge, so too are the trees, and the grounds are well taken care of. Lots of great photo opportunities and heritage-filled items and buildings to see. Definitely recommend coming here if you have the chance.

The Hachikō Memorial Statue in Shibuya is a popular meeting spot featuring a bronze statue honoring Hachiko, the famously loyal Akita dog. The story of Hachiko and his unwavering loyalty has captured hearts worldwide, inspiring movies and gaining recognition as a symbol of canine devotion. This legendary dog would wait at Shibuya Station every day for his owner to return from work, continuing to do so for nine years after his owner's passing.
Whether you want to wait in queue to get your photo, or just want to admire it from afar, it's a true symbol of loyalty. Probably in the early morning, past midnight, you might be able to get some nice night shoots.
Roberto C — Google review
This is a really nice statue commemorating a dog who, after his master died, still went to look for him every day. It's just a statue but the story behind it makes it that more special, especially if you love dogs. The only negative is it is so popular it takes a bit of manoeuvring to get close to it and you have to snatch a shot in-between people posing with it. I guess the later at night you go the quieter it could be but this is Tokyo so who knows? This is a statue in the street so is free and needs no ticket.
Phil — Google review
A truly lovely story about the love shared between pets and owners. The statue is very famous and in the middle of a highly trafficed spot, so if you want your own perfect photo there can be a long wait here.
Frederik F — Google review
Near the world most famous crossing of Shibuya there is the nice commovent statue in the honor of most faithful dog Hachiko. It’s easy located in front of the station and absolutely It’s worth a visit to pay homage to him.
Daniele B — Google review
The Hachiko Statue may be small, but it carries a story that moves hearts across generations. Standing just outside Shibuya Station, it’s more than a popular meeting point – it’s a quiet tribute to loyalty, love, and the unbreakable bond between a dog and his owner. Knowing Hachiko’s story makes the moment of seeing the statue deeply emotional. Among the busy crowds and flashing lights of Shibuya, this little bronze figure reminds us of something timeless: to wait with love, and never forget. A must-visit – not just for a photo, but for the feeling.
Steven D — Google review
The Hachiko Statue is a poignant reminder of loyalty and devotion. Located near Shibuya Station, it's a well-known meeting point and a must-visit for tourists. The statue beautifully embodies Hachiko's steadfast commitment to his owner. It's a brief but impactful stop!

When Loyalty Isn’t Enough Have you ever heard of Hachikō?
He was just a dog, but not just any dog.
Every day, he waited for his owner at Shibuya Station in Japan.
They say he’d walk his owner to the train in the morning,
Then wait faithfully at the same spot for him to return in the evening. But one day, his owner didn’t come back.
He had passed away suddenly, while at work.
Yet Hachikō didn’t know.
So he waited.
Not for a day.
Not for a week.
But for nearly 10 years.
He returned to the same place every single day, hoping to see the one he loved. He didn’t chase someone new.
He didn’t forget.
He just waited.
Through sun, rain, snow, and years.
That’s what love looked like to me.
Loyal. Deep. Unshakable. So you can imagine how it felt...
When someone I trusted with my heart,
Someone I was ready to marry this March,
Told me I didn’t trust her.
You said I was the one ruining things,
Because I had doubts.
Because I questioned what was happening between you and him.
You said you were innocent.
You said he was just a friend.
You said I was overthinking. And I believed you.
Because I loved you.
I wanted to be wrong.
But I wasn’t. In the end, you left.
And you chose him.
The one you told me not to worry about.
How could you say I was the problem,
While you were already letting go?
How could you accuse me of not trusting,
When I was the one being betrayed? I wasn’t perfect.
But I was loyal.
I was the kind of person who would’ve waited for you,
Even when the world told me to move on.
I loved like Hachikō.
But you didn’t. You chose someone new.
You moved forward as though we were nothing.
Like our promises meant nothing.
Like the wedding we planned was just a date to forget.
And that hurts more than words can explain. I don’t want pity.
I just want to live in a world where people love deeply again.
Where love isn’t about convenience or temporary feelings,
But about showing up. Staying.
Choosing someone, even when it’s hard. Like Hachikō did.
Because that’s the love I gave.
And despite everything,
That’s still the kind of love I believe in.

If you know the story, you have to take a picture with Hachi! Don’t forget to take the train in Shibuya and make a quick ride to the Ueno and Hachiko Shrine nearby. Very emotional. 🐶

Museums
The Nezu Museum, situated in the upscale Aoyama district, houses an extensive private collection of pre-modern Japanese and East Asian art. The museum features a diverse range of items including Chinese bronzes, paintings, calligraphy, sculpture, and archaeological materials. It is located just a short walk from Omotesando Station in an area known for its architectural showcase streets and international boutiques.
Advance time-entry tickets were required for admission, unless you’re a member. The museum is situated in an upscale neighborhood, with high-end boutiques nearby. During my visit, the featured exhibit was Chinese Paintings and Medieval Japanese Ink-Wash Paintings—a beautifully curated display of exquisite works. There were also five smaller exhibits showcasing ancient relics. The collection was impressive, though modest in size. The museum’s architecture and grounds were a treat in themselves. I especially enjoyed the beautifully landscaped gardens. Insect repellent was thoughtfully provided at the garden entrance.
Teadrinker — Google review
A small-scale museum in the wealthy area in Tokyo (Omotesando). Architectural style of the main building is modern Japanese. The breath of exhibition is small which there are only dozens of exhibits in each room. The outdoor garden is beautiful and I consider it more exciting than the indoor exhibition.
Rally A — Google review
The place would be better to visit in autumn or spring. I went in mid-October, but it was very hot and humid. It gets quite crowded, so it’s best to avoid peak hours. The exhibition was not a wide range of items. The café also had a long queue, and the food selection could be more varied.
SY — Google review
The Nezu Museum in Tokyo’s Aoyama district is a serene cultural gem. While photography is not allowed inside the museum itself, the experience is unforgettable. Children enjoy free admission, making it a great family-friendly destination. The highlight is the breathtaking Japanese garden, a winding labyrinth of charming pathways, lush seasonal plants, and impressive stone statues/ sculptures. It’s the perfect place to slow down, explore, and feel immersed in Japan’s timeless beauty.
Natalia G — Google review
This was an incredible museum and garden - particularly the garden - such a nice way to spend some time in nature in the city. I would 100% go again. I arrived right at 10am when it opened and there was a bit of a line to get in but it went really fast (I didn’t pre-purchase tickets).
Aly H — Google review
It’s a magical place. The exhibition is not big but fascinating and beautifully curated. The architecture is impressive, and the museum garden itself is a true work of art. You can buy your ticket in advance to ensure entry.
Vitalina L — Google review
✅I visited on a weekday and there was no waiting time at all. ✅There was about a 20–30 minute wait to use the cafe and if you would like a window seat, you can let the staff know and they will put you on the waiting list for it. ✅ The adult admission fee is 1,400 yen. During my previous trip, I only had a chance to use the museum cafe and couldn’t explore the exhibitions due to my flight schedule. With that regret in mind, I returned to Tokyo to finally visit the museum. The unique atmosphere of the museum was truly impressive, and the inner garden was absolutely beautiful. I especially enjoyed the serene and refined ambiance of a Japanese summer, which made the experience unforgettable.
예동아 — Google review
My favourite museum among the many I visited in Japan. If you appreciate style and craftsmanship the building will delight you. And the staff, while not English-speaking, making a huge effort via GoogleTranslate, to communicate and point out the highlights of the museum. We watched a fascinating roof tile making demo.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, a stunning architectural marvel designed by Kenzo Tange, is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the vibrant city of Tokyo. This iconic complex features two impressive towers, each offering free observatories on their 45th floors that provide breathtaking panoramic views of Shinjuku's skyline and beyond. Recently, the buildings have gained even more attention due to the TOKYO Night & Light event, showcasing the world's largest permanent projection mapping display on their exterior.
Both North and South Observatory are at the 45th storey. The lift entrance is only at Building No. 1, ground floor. The lift takes 55 seconds to reach the top. Mount Fuji will be visible from both towers on a clear day. South tower has a grand piano open to public for performance from 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm.
Alvin — Google review
Incredible nightly video shows with music on the building. Has a fantastic observation deck on the top of both buildings. On the ground floor there is a small mall with two of the best visitors information centers in Tokyo. Visit during the daytime to learn about Tokyo and overlook the city then visit at night to see show and a very different view from the observation deck.
Adam Z — Google review
Not a lot of tourists know about this attraction, which is completely free!! The observatory decks are as good as the other towers out there. The wait to go up is minimal. The fact that there is a public piano for performances makes it more mesmerizing. There is a small cafe on the top, so you can easily chill while watching the view or the performers. The night shows are also worth watching. There are different songs and projections. The building is quite close to a station.
Roberto C — Google review
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 An unforgettable (and free!) Tokyo experience! Hard to believe that such a professional and well-managed observatory is completely free to visit! The panoramic views of Tokyo are truly breathtaking—even though I couldn’t catch Mt. Fuji due to cloudy weather, the experience was still remarkable. What made the atmosphere even more special was the public piano—each performer played so beautifully, and the queue was organized very smoothly. Small details like a free water fountain and reasonably priced vending machines made the visit even more comfortable. If you’re visiting Tokyo, this is a must-see spot! Can’t recommend it enough.
Lawrence L — Google review
It's an amazing free viewing platform! South entrance has always short lines. Come for stunning sunset views. And dont forget to catch the light show, starting from 19.30... This summer they have a nice grassy area to chill while watching.
Carinchen R — Google review
Unlike incorrectly recommended Shinjuku L Sun Tower, the Metropolitan Government building has a free observation deck on the 45th floor. You can view almost every direction from there. The have gifts and refreshments for sale too. Highly worth the visit IMHO.
Davin S — Google review
One of the best observatories in Tokyo, with two separate observatory decks, a north one and a south one. Both have amazing views of the city at just the right height. The south observatory even has a piano designed by Yayoi Kusama free for your playing (five minute limit). Best of all, both decks are free!
Justin L — Google review
One of the best observation decks in Tokyo! We went up to the North Observatory only, and the view was absolutely amazing — and it’s free! We’re glad we came. Honestly, the North deck alone is enough; no need to visit both. Highly recommended!

Historic Walking Areas
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Omoide Yokocho, also known as Memory Lane Alley or Yakitori Alley, is a renowned landmark in Tokyo located just north of Shinjuku station. Once a black market area post-World War II, it has transformed into a bustling alleyway filled with tightly compressed restaurants offering cheap izakaya food and alcoholic drinks. The vibrant atmosphere attracts both locals and tourists seeking to savor its culinary offerings.
Omoide Yokocho, also known as "Memory Lane" or "Piss Alley" (don't worry; that name is no longer applicable), is a cross-section of narrow alleys, populated by multiple small bars, watering holes and restaurants (izakaya), insanely popular with both locals and foreigners, ALWAYS packed to the gills and stuffed with drinkers and diners from all over the world, to the point where the bodies begin to spill over into the street. It's one of the most fun and exciting places in all of Tokyo, which in itself is one of the most fun and exciting places in Japan/the world, so you know you are in for a good time here. Personally, I prefer the even grittier Golden Gai, a half mile or so away, but your mileage may vary. Omoide Yokocho is ostensibly (arguably) the more accessible, tourist-friendly of the two, but that is not always the case. Be aware; some bars have an otoshi (cover charge in the form of a small appetizer, that'll cost you a couple bucks), and others may be "cash only", "members only", or "Japanese only", depending on how deep into the weeds you delve; don't be offended, there's a good reason for the exclusivity. Whatever you do, when you come here: be brave; be polite; try something new. Do all of these things, and "Memory Lane" is sure to be a place you will never forget!
Jason C — Google review
★★★★★ Omoide Yokocho, Shinjuku, Tokyo If you’re in Tokyo, go here. Tourist or not, this is the real thing. People call it a tourist trap. It’s not. You walk through narrow smoky alleys filled with tiny yakitori stalls. Each one has its own rhythm, its own smell, its own story. You sit shoulder to shoulder with strangers, surrounded by the sound of sizzling skewers and laughter. The chef who cooked for us was incredible. He kept pouring us shots of sake, making us taste different dishes from his grill — every single one was amazing. There was no menu, no prices, just trust. He cooked what he wanted, and we ate everything. We sat next to locals who didn’t speak English, and we didn’t speak Japanese. But we laughed, clinked glasses, and somehow understood each other. It was one of those moments that make travel special. If you ever find this place, and you see the chef from these photos, go there. He deserves every star. Come at night. Come hungry. Come thirsty. This is Tokyo at its best.
Efri D — Google review
Omoide Yokocho Memory Lane is a wonderful experience. As soon as you walk down the alley, the smell of freshly cooked yakitori on charcoal just draws you in. The only problem is finding a restaurant with a spare seat. Most of the restaurants are very small and only have seating for 6-10 people. We are a party of 4 so it was quite difficult fining a restaurant with free seats, but we were lucky enough to find one eventually. The food was really nice and we had a great time. It was a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend a visit.
Andrew C — Google review
What can I say. This alley has an enchanting charm about it. When you walk down it on any given night, it will be filled with patrons from all over the world enjoying great food, cold beer, and the sounds of laughter fill the air, along with the aroma of all of the restaurants working their magic. This place is just incredible. I loved every second of it. You don’t know “vibe” until you visit Omoide Yokocho.
Michael S — Google review
Really small alley. Literally holes in the wall with eateries right next to each other. Patrons eating and sitting elbow to elbow, obviously locals. We came here on a weekday around 10am. A few establishments were open. The food smelled realllyyyy good. If you are the adventurous type, dont mind eating what the locals do then this is worth seeing.
Jay B — Google review
The memory lane is a crowded, tiny and narrow alley full of small bars and restaurants. It does not give privacy but seemed very cozy and fun. I did not try the food here but I did walk through the alley.
Chhanda B — Google review
It was cool and cute and all, but it is really just small and so many people. It feels kinda silly just walking there taking pictures with the other tourists when it is just that small and crowded. Honestly, overrated and not worth it to go there just to see it
Xoxo J — Google review
Good experience and met some tourist along the way from Netherlands, France and US. It was a great food but prepare to spend a little bit more as it is a bit touristy trap area. Great atmosphere. Definitely try one for experience unless you love skewers so much.

Chuka Soba Aoba Nakano Main Store is a renowned ramen spot in Tokyo, particularly notable in the ramen-rich district of Nakano. The restaurant offers four hearty ramen dishes featuring their signature thick homemade noodles, including popular options like chuka-soba and tsukemen. The rich soup is based on a traditional Kyushu recipe, combining chicken meat and pork bones with Tokyo-style seafood soup stock.
After 10yrs, still the best for me. Soup, noodle & meat

These were the silkiest noodles I’ve ever had. I have no idea how they made them like that. I wish they were slightly warmer however they were still delicious. The broth was good but not the best i had. I wish tsukemen came with an egg but the tsukemen was already pretty cheap. Good spot and fast service !

Delicious. Said to be one of the pioneers of double soup ramen in Tokyo. You can definitely tell many shops were influenced by this shop. Soup: delicious double soup, perfect saltiness and not too heavy Noodles: springy, alkaline, large serving feels like normal because it’s so easy to eat Toppings: nothing special, the highlight here is definitely the soup and noodles

Tourist trap!! I give 1 star. The food was good but: The prices are hiding tax which maybe a thing in US but definitely not a thing in Japan. They also forgot to let us know that you can get 10% of from giving a review on google. So if you have the chance claim that.

Izakaya restaurant
Seafood restaurant
Okajoki is a renowned seafood izakaya that has been around since the 1970s. The restaurant features an old-fashioned charm with traditionally dressed chefs and rustic decor, offering a nostalgic experience reminiscent of the Showa era. The main attraction is the large robata (hearth) where skewered fish are charcoal-grilled in the middle of the room, adding to the authentic ambiance.
Okajoki holds a special place in my heart as it was one of my grandfather’s favorite izakayas in Nakano, where my grandparents lived. Sitting at the counter is truly an experience—watching the fish cook near the fire adds a unique charm to the meal. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious: the salad, agedashi tofu, sashimi, onigiri, and karaage all stood out with their fresh flavors and perfect preparation. 🍶🐟🍙🥗 If you’re looking for an authentic Japanese izakaya experience in Tokyo, Okajoki is a must-visit.

So, we were walking by and I saw that there was a line to eat here. Naturally curious we stood in line and ordered the lunch special. It was a choice of different kinds of grilled fish. We ordered 3 of them. It was mostly business men seated at the table on the first floor. We were seated upstairs. This place was simple: salad, miso soup, rice, and the attraction: grilled fish. We enjoyed our meal and would 1000% come back.

Best restaurant we had in NakanoW a seafood grilled place near the station. the interiors are amazing, you get to see the chefs grilled your food in front of you. food is super delicious!

Was packed during lunch, had to squeeze between 2 locals during my meal but the crowd slowly died down closer to 1pm. The counter lady at the entrance was really nice and tried to converse with me in english even though there was a sign at the counter that mentioned they didn't really accept foreigners and required that foreigners bring a japanese-speaking person with them when dining here but I managed to get by with my basic japanese. Vibes were amazing and unique, food was good as well. Rice and miso soup is unlimited, service staff were really attentive. Would visit again if I have the chance.

The restaurant gives an impressive presentation. The grill is at the centre so you can see the chefs’ show if seated at the bar table. I ordered a fugu sake which is grilled fugu’s fin added to sake. Sounds weird but surprisingly enjoyable. Not fishy at all. We then ordered sashimi, grilled fish and grilled prawns. Everything is fresh. Portions are decent. The only thing is you can’t make reservations if smaller than group of three. The wait was about 20-30 mins after 8pm which was okay for a busy night. Nice place for taking visitors to.

Step into a rustic, two-story haven reminiscent of a Japanese countryside farmhouse. Here, the aroma of robata-grilled fish and meats fills the air, alongside the freshness of sashimi and the comforting flavors of traditional izakaya cuisine.

Simply exquisite. Best grilled fish I have ever eaten, cooked melt-in-your-mouth tender and smoky by open flame. Gorgeous interior design of dark roughly carved natural wooden beams. Beautifully calligraphed menu. Purely magical! Will keep coming back for an exquisite meal. You should also try their grilled eggplant. It was sweet and soft like pudding.

Conveyor belt sushi restaurant
Sushi restaurant
Genki Sushi offers a unique dining experience that sushi lovers won't want to miss. This Japan-based chain features a fun conveyor belt system where diners can select from an array of freshly prepared sushi and maki rolls, all at wallet-friendly prices starting around 120 yen. The menu is user-friendly, available in multiple languages including English, Korean, and Chinese, making it accessible for international visitors.
We came here following a recommendation - it is brilliant. You order your food from a tablet, then a delicious sushi and other types of food come to you on a automated trolley. A fab experience. Really good value. A must! Top tip come just before or just after lunch or dinner - this place can get very popular :-)
Gareth — Google review
Absolutely amazing sushi restaurant! All the sushi was freshly prepared and delicious. There is a time limit of 45 minutes as they are usually very busy however as you order using a tablet (in english) at your table and the food arrives on a conveyor belt there is not a very long wait for your food to arrive. A must try for anyone who likes sushi!!!
Kevin M — Google review
Interesting restaurant because there are always foreigners queue up outside! This is a chain Sushi train restaurant located in the middle of Shibuya. The price range is low, meaning you can try different kind of sushi with affordable price. They also provide some "foreigners friendly" food like chicken nuggets or chips! :) The sushi quality is fair, they are fresh! The ordering experience is very interesting too. You are given a tablet and you can make all your order from there. From drinks to sushi, or even your bill. The tablet comes with different languages (Chinese, English, Korean and Japanese). Once you ordered the food, they will be delivered by a little train on the rail in front of you. Dont forget to push the button to send it back! overall service is good in this price range!

Great, cheap and delicious. Gets really busy and you might have to wait. Everything is self service and at your seat. Chopsticks, cups, sauces, water and etc. All ordering is done by an iPad, which has english. You can order up to 3 dishes at a time. It comes very quickly via the sushi train. Has great options for non raw fish eaters, like udon, fried foods and more. Very good value for the quality.
L L — Google review
Delicious sushi with affordable price, fast and great service. We put our name in waiting list since it was lunch time but only short waiting time. We ordered using the tablet provided in each table, then the food is delivered using the table lane. All items that we ordered are delicious. Free hot ocha on the table (through the water tab seen in the picture, they provide cup as well).
Sesilia E — Google review
My sister/brother-in-law recommended this conveyor belt sushi spot, so my BF and I decided to check it out when we were in the area. We waited for about 10 minutes on a Thursday at around noon, before we were seated. It's not a typical conveyor belt sushi place where everything is pre-made and rotates around. Instead, it's made to order. You select the items you want on your own iPad, and within a few minutes, your items arrive on the conveyor belt in front of you. Kind of like a train. You can order as many times as you like, so it was nice to be able to easily add more items. It was definitely a unique, and fun experience. And with something like this, you wouldn't expect the food to be good, but it was. Of course, we had a few items that were kind of meh, but everything was great for the most part. On top of all that, it was a quick and inexpensive meal. We paid $38 for two people, which included A LOT of food (we were stuffed), and a beer + sake. I wish they had one in NYC! But then again, the quality would go down, and the prices would skyrocket. Tip - they accept credit card!

The food was just about average.. I feel the Genki Sushi branches in my own country Singapore serve better sushi than here after having tried it here. I didn't enjoy the cramped seating. The waitress put my group which had 3 of us into a space meant for 2 people by squeezing in an extra stool in between 2 seats so it was kind of a tighttttttt spot. And the individual soy sauce packets were smeared with previous diners leftover Soya sauce so... not nice!!!

This place is fantastic. Fish top notch and thick cut. Service outstanding . Get a cold bottle of sake for around 6 bucks...keep them coming please. Tablet ordering ..and the plates come on a high speed train. Gotta love it..five stars all the way

Conveyor belt sushi restaurant
Sushiro is a popular conveyor belt sushi chain in Japan, with numerous locations including 36 stores in Tokyo alone. The restaurant offers a playful and affordable dining experience, with plates starting at just 100 yen. In addition to typical seafood options, Sushiro also serves udon, ramen, fries, and a variety of desserts like parfait, ice cream, and cake. It's known for its bustling and kid-friendly atmosphere that delivers the quintessential kaitenzushi experience.
A Delicious Journey Through the Stars at Sushiro I dropped by Sushiro to check out their Honkai: Star Rail collaboration, and I was pleasantly surprised — both by the fanservice and the food. As a Honkai fan, the themed touches were fun and well-integrated, from character decor to collectible merch, but the real highlight for me was the unagi sushi. Rich, tender, and perfectly glazed with that sweet-savory sauce, the unagi was a standout. It had just the right balance of smokiness and melt-in-your-mouth texture. Paired with the vinegared rice, each bite was satisfying and well-executed — classic, but elevated. Even among all the creative and limited-edition offerings, the unagi sushi held its own as a comforting go-to. The collab itself brought an extra layer of excitement — especially if you’re into both good food and good games. It’s not every day your meal comes with a side of fandom. Would I go again? Absolutely. For the unagi and the nostalgia alike.

Was a fun sushi place and revolving belt except only made to order items and nothing to pick from the revolving belt. Raw fish were pretty fresh but color of some salmon(cheap plates) were questionable. Decent selection of sushi and noodles.

The Sushiro was amazing! You can really tell that they use fresh ingredients and make it fresh right when you order. Compared to Kura this was 50000 times better. They also have make your own sushi for kids and it comes with a toy. You should try it!!!!

A convenient walk from Shinjuku station, Sushiro in Japan is a quintessential visit. Although there isn't much sushi on the conveyor belt, you can order everything through their iPad. Ingredients were fresh while being affordable.

So much fun! One of our favorite meals in Tokyo. The food was delicious and the conveyer belt style service was so fun. We made a reservation ahead of time and even though it was packed we got in pretty quickly. Probably only waited 15-20 minutes. The restaurant is easily accessible next to shinjuku station. Paying per dish is also super convenient!
Tyler H — Google review
Sushi was so absolutely mediocre. Rice was mushy, fishes do not taste fresh and the price does not reflect the quality. Not to say it's expensive but it's just that mediocre. You can do better if you really want the conveyor belt experience although it'll be much more pricier.
Danny L — Google review
Great selection of sushi, very fresh and affordable :)) Their platters are super nice but unfortunately don’t come on the conveyor belt. The udon soup is also great! There is just quite a long wait for a table in the evening, definitely over 30 minutes.

Expect long lines if you’re just walking in. We waited for 1.5 hours for an available table. Food was good nonetheless, enjoyed eating here so much compared to other popular conveyor belt sushi. Will visit here again soon once I come back to Japan.

teamLab Borderless: MORI Building DIGITAL ART MUSEUM is a popular and immersive museum featuring colorful, futuristic digital art installations that offer great photo opportunities. Since its opening in 2018, it has become the world's most visited museum dedicated to a single artist/group. The museum will be closing this year due to redevelopment of the building housing it, but not before hosting its last cherry blossom-themed exhibition.
This was a great experience! But be prepared to spend at least 2-3 hours inside exploring, taking it in, and appreciating the art. I also recommend going as early as possible. I bought tickets a bit late (aka 3 days before the day we were available) and only noon and after were available. I bought the 12-1230. I checked multiple times a day and it wasn’t until the night before that an 08-0830am slot opened up and I changed our reservation. We got there around 0820 and there were already some people inside. It was nice and open for ~30-45min and after that, people started pouring in. It was still nice but some rooms started to get crowded. If you want nice pictures, go at opening time. It was a fun experience walking around, discovering the rooms, and being mesmerized at the art. Some of the art changes after a few minutes so we revisited a few rooms. When we thought we were done, we discovered two more rooms. We spent around 3 hours in there. We only left because we got hungry. There were free lockers inside and umbrella locks. There were rules posted about not running. But in one of the large rooms where you can sit, relax, and watch the art, there were a few kids running around through the people sitting down and yelling. It kind of ruined the immersive experience of that room. The workers didn’t do anything to stop them. It’s less interactive than teamLab planets. But still equally a great experience in my opinion!

As one of the most Instagram-y places in Tokyo, this is obviously a place where aesthetics and visuals are prioritised above all else! Make sure to book in advance, as it can get busy at all hours on a weekend. A free-flowing, dark, and fluid space with various rooms and corridors, this museum often feels like an accidental maze. Each room or area has unique exhibits moving across the walls and floor, with many of them actually migrating between areas. This means you might see a pretty school of fish swim away, then come across them a room or two later unexpectedly. This effect is limited however, with most rooms having more of a looping cast of artworks. These are typically nature-based, such as fish, water, or flowers, although there's good variety such as some corridors feature bizarre walking animations. The space itself is dark throughout, although the layout is only confusing the first time you enter. After being in a room once, it's fairly simple to figure out which other rooms are nearby and make your way there. The rooms by themselves vary in quality, with my favourites (typically the most otherworldly) often hidden away in side corridors, such as the "water lily" style room or vertically strobing lights. Other rooms feature mysterious balls rolling round, or large cubes in a completely dark room. Overall it's definitely worth visiting once, although if you visit in the evening the entrance in the basement of the mall can be hard to find! The mall itself seems empty, yet an open door leads to an escalator taking you to the correct location.

Borderless was a fun but a one time experience. It was very crowded but entry with an advance ticket was fast and seamless. It was a free to explore on your own kind of place mostly. But some rooms had more crowd and some required additional payment such as the en tea room, where you order a tea and the art projection plays on your drink. There was a long queue at the draw a fish room so I did not bother there. It is a fun experience but I would recommend booking in advance.
Chhanda B — Google review
Totally amazing experience. Best to be early though for the 8am or 8.30am. Not too busy bust by 12 it was very crowded. Unable to explain the experience. Totally different as you are in and become part of the art being exhibited through sensational technology. Was fun to draw a sea creature then to have it displayed on a huge screen..which appeared randomly also in other locations..some nice boulangeries in the same building.
Perry C — Google review
This is undeniably one of those touristy experiences, and mostly for foreigners. Is it fun? Yes, it is very fun. It is very pretty. Kids love it. The different rooms can be very beautiful (sometimes even movingly so). I did get lost a bit inside and there were some exhibits that made me a bit nauseated (lots of moving lights!). This museum is located near a really fun part of Tokyo, so it is possible to make it a part of a day exploring this region.
Aracruz1988 — Google review
Such a beautiful place to experience digital art. Every room offers a different immersive experience, with the artworks coming alive and even transferring between spaces. I especially loved the concept where you can draw your own sea animal and watch it become part of the art. Unfortunately, we couldn’t visit the tea room, though it looked very interesting as well. It’s easy to lose yourself here for hours. Our favorite was definitely the room filled with hanging lights.
Marie M — Google review
Honestly amazing. Wasn't sure it was going to be my thing, but I've never felt so relaxed and peaceful in here. Some really great rooms, and the tea room towards the end was an experience too. Great staff. I enjoyed being able to wander around at our own pace. Loved it so much, worth the ticket price. We are now thinking about going to the new one in kyoto too.
Michi S — Google review
The light displays at Borderless were magnificent. I thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits and appreciated how interactive some of them were. The immersive experience truly felt otherworldly. The venue is also easily accessible by train, with several eateries nearby that are convenient for a meal after the session. My session was at 10:30 in the morning, and it was already quite crowded, so do expect a crowd regardless of the time slot.

The National Art Center Tokyo is a large, modern venue in Roppongi that showcases temporary exhibitions of both Japanese and international art. The building's unique facade contrasts with the surrounding architecture, embodying Kisho Kurokawa's architectural concepts of natural materials and adaptability to surroundings. With its wavy glass exterior, the museum spans 14,000 square meters and hosts works from renowned artists without maintaining a permanent collection.
Beautiful art exhibits & amazing architecture. Well-maintained and organized art center. Sadly, the library was closed when I visited but I was still able to enjoy my time. Lots of seating, clean restrooms. The Art Exhibit during my visit was free. There are restaurants inside that are available, but quite expensive and limited options. Overall, this Art Center is a definite must-see!

The National Art Center, Tokyo is such a beautiful space — the architecture alone is worth the visit! We went for the Shinseisaku and Bulgari: Kaleidos — Colors, Cultures, and Crafts exhibitions, and both were incredible in their own ways. The Shinseisaku Exhibition had an amazing mix of contemporary Japanese art, each piece so expressive and full of life. The Bulgari: Kaleidos Exhibition, on the other hand, was pure elegance — stunning jewelry and timeless design everywhere you looked. Each exhibition has its own ticket, but it’s absolutely worth it for the experience and curation. We also stopped by the café featured in Kimi no Na wa, and it was just as beautiful as in the film — a calm, light-filled space floating in glass. The perfect spot to take a break and soak in the atmosphere. Everything was well organized, and the overall vibe was inspiring from start to finish. Definitely a must-visit in Tokyo, and I’d love to come back for future exhibitions!
Jane G — Google review
The National Art Center in Tokyo is an architectural masterpiece in itself. With its strikingly futuristic design and spacious, light-filled interiors, the building feels like a work of art. The natural light streaming through the massive glass curtain walls creates a warm, tranquil atmosphere that enhances the entire experience. One of the center’s unique features is that it does not have a permanent collection, meaning every visit offers a new and different exhibition. When I visited, a contemporary art exhibition was on display. Though the themes were complex, it offered fresh perspectives and left a lasting impression. The open layout, seating areas, and calming café inside the building also made it a perfect place to reflect and unwind after exploring the art. Even on a rainy day, it’s a great place to visit, as you can stay completely sheltered while enjoying the space. The building’s design has a near-futuristic vibe—so much so that it felt like a location straight out of a sci-fi film, perhaps even something from Star Wars. It reminded me of the kind of pavilion I imagined as a child when dreaming about the Osaka Expo I never got to attend. And even if you’re not there for a specific exhibit, just visiting to admire the architecture and enjoy a coffee at the café is satisfying in itself. Best of all, admission to the building is free. It’s a must-visit spot for anyone looking to enjoy art, architecture, and a peaceful escape from daily life.

It’s not essential to buy a ticket online as you can go in and buy ticket at any exhibition that you like. The architect inside itself is beautiful, and the atmosphere is great! I had some cake and tea at Salon de Thé ROND and it was delicious!! The coffee also appears in the movie “Your Name”. Highly recommend <33

The National Art Center, Tokyo The architecture is absolutely stunning. Even if you don’t visit an exhibition, it’s a lovely place to relax at the café and soak in the unique atmosphere of Tokyo. I imagine it would feel even more charming on a rainy day. Highly recommended!

Dropped by the National Art Center today. The exhibitions on display were more on the beginner side—felt a bit like student works—but the building itself more than made up for it. The architecture is stunning, with a spacious, immersive atmosphere that’s worth experiencing on its own. I’m planning to come back to try their French restaurant next time—it sits at a high vantage point with views that pair perfectly with a good meal.

Fujiya Camera is a renowned camera shop located near JR Nakano Station, offering a wide range of new and second-hand cameras, lenses, and accessories. With over 70 years of experience, this store is beloved by camera enthusiasts for its extensive stock of over 2,000 second-hand items. The friendly staff are known for providing helpful advice to beginners. Additionally, there are multiple Fujiya Camera shops within Nakano Broadway that cater to both Japanese and foreign-made cameras and lenses.
Amazing old-school camera shop! No fancy decoration, no spot lighting to make products more visually appealing, none of that. Everything is simple and their service is good and efficient. Not to mention that their prices are usually lower than Bic Camera's and Yodobashi's, and it was the only shop that had a z50ii 16-50 kit in stock, ready for pick-up, on April 24 2025. Highly recommendable!

Arguably the best camera and video equipment store in town. It has a large collection of second hand as well as new gear. The shop has grown to occupy several stores and an upstairs. Fair trade in prices (bring your ID/passport) and supports tax free. Whilst other stores have a clinical trade in process where you hand in your gear and someone in the back office does the value assessment and often comes back with a take it or leave it price. In my experience, here the guy at the counter who is helping you does the assessment which to me was a more personal experience. Check their website for their price campaigns. Highly recommended.

Ordering process was so simple and efficient. Picked up an OM5 in Silver (relatively hard to get) almost in the same day after ordering online, on top of a Zuiko lens. Staff were quick to gather everything together and also really friendly. You can also get additional accessories at their store above.

I highly recommended this place. The staff were super friendly. I arrived late to purchase a Nikon lens and wanted to check out a few other telephoto lens. The staff stayed late to accomodate my request. I also asked for a Zeiss lens that was out of stock at other camera stores. They said they might have it and looked everywhere in their store for me. Then, they helped me find an UV filter I want. As a foreigner, the tax refund procedure took them even longer to complete the check out. I appreciate the staffs' patience very much and will come back for my needs.

My wife bought her first manual film camera here. A vintage Nikon, the salesperson spoke some English and used Google translate to help us with our purchase. He was so patient and explained all about how to use the camera and all the features it had. It really put us at ease especially as it was a big purchase. Would recommend to anyone looking for anything camera related!

They have a huge selection of lenses and bodies from all brands and systems; everything from Sony cameras a few months old to the mythical Canon EF 50mm f/1.0 can be found here. And while prices are similar to what you'd find on the cheaper end of US eBay, there's absolute transparency with defects, 6 month warranty on used lenses (Japan only), and the sellers are very professional and patient with questions. As other reviewers said, service here really goes above and beyond - I came in just to buy one of their cheaper used lenses, but the seller still handed me a used camera body to test many of the lens offerings on the spot (since I didn't have a camera on me for that day), offered suggestions on which piece they thought was the "better" one (given both had the same in-store rating), and even took time to explain the lens defects to me on each piece (including dust buildup) before I finalized the purchase. I'm very happy with my purchase, and can't recommend this place enough.

Maguro Mart is a popular eatery in Nakano that offers a laid-back atmosphere and a focus on tuna. The restaurant serves various cuts of bluefin tuna prepared in creative ways, including sushi, sashimi, and grilled dishes. One unique offering is the maguro sake, infused with dashi to create a drink that's part soup and part cocktail. It's advisable to make reservations in advance due to the restaurant's popularity.
This is a must place to come even if you are not a tuna lover. Yes, it is all about Maguro (tuna) but the varied cut gave so much flavor and all tasted soo good. Scraping the meat from tuna bone gave a new level of taste. Fresh and a unique texture and flavor. Otoro, chutoro, akami are standard cut, but cheeks and chin was so interesting. My favourite place in Tokyo, just 1 train stop from Shinjuku to Nakano city.

This place gets a 10 out of 10. I showed up right at opening without a reservation, and they were nice enough to let me eat, with a time limit, which was fine by me. The ambiance is great, with lots of staff to help make the experience enjoyable. They have a sample platter, but there is a 2 person minimum. So I ended up ordering several things off the menu. To be honest, everything was outstanding. The sushi was delicious, the sashimi even better, the maguro yukke fantastic, and the assorted tempura with raw tuna was amazing. This is a place that I will certainly come back to, again and again. I highly recommend you try this place, whether you live in Tokyo or are just visiting. Great experience.

Extraordinarily good! We were lucky to get a table in this restaurant. From the first moment the service was very friendly and attentive. And the food was amazing - every dish kept on impressing us. Without any hesitation - the best tuna and tuna dishes that I have ever tried. Really impressed and appreciated the opportunity to eat at Maguro Mart!

Maguro Mart - I saved this gem for my last night in Tokyo…great choice! A restaurant dedicated to tuna? Yes, please. (Though it’s not entirely tuna - they also have a big passion for sake, with around 15 varieties from different regions. Definitely try at least one.) But the true star is the tuna. Imagine a steakhouse… but only for tuna. They even have an info sheet detailing all the cuts, just like a fine steakhouse. Amazing vibe, attentive service, and fantastic food. A must-visit!

Amazing food for amazing value. Easy to make a reservation online and with good English service. Have never had amazing tuna in so many varieties before, truly an one of a kind experience.

Expensive, but good. We've had the tasting menu, we paid for 3 even though we were 2 (on our request as we made the reservation for 3) but it seems like the price also doesn't include tax (or they've added about 1500 for something else, we're not sure). The raw tuna dishes are great, other things were good but not great, especially the namba which was a deep fried cube of fatty tuna, and was too heavy to enjoy really. In hindsight, if given the option we'd take a smaller meal, of only raw tuna dishes, as that's the highlight. Overall a nice visit, but some dishes are very unbalanced, the servers don't speak fluent English, and the fact that you can't really order a table for 2, only for 3 and above, feels like a way to cheat out an extra 2000 yen (or 4000 if ordering only a seat) out of guests.

Must try if you like BLUEFIN TUNA! I'm not sure of reservation only, but I did make a reservation 3 hours before visiting. You can try the Bluefin course at a reasonable price. Amazingly Fresh! Super delicious! Must try Nakaochi(the flesh attached to the bone and eat it with the spoon and sushi rice) If you are a foreigner, just order the order of the course recommended to foreigner. Its not discrimination why they gave a difference of the order of the course, especially for foreigners. I tried as the original Japanese order, and it was quite greezy for me and exactly understood why they changed the order. I called, and the girl who caught the call was able to speak English. Don't worry and call them first!

In order to get a place you need to order exactly a month before (e.g. on the 10th for the 10th of next month). It is totally worth it! The deal is a set meal (for the whole table, people can't just not show up since some items are shared). You get a sashimi from different parts of the fish and the main thing is a giant piece of bone with fish on it. You get scoops to take it out. The experience was one of a kind!

Enji is a popular Tsukemen shop located in Nakano that offers a unique dining experience. The friendly staff warmly welcome guests and provide helpful recommendations for ordering. The flavorful Tsukemen with pork is a standout dish, featuring delicious cold noodles and a complex broth combining pork and fish flavors. Additionally, the restaurant's thick and tasty fish-based vegetable soup with chunky soft pork meat is highly recommended.
Must try. Good vibes and service. Tsukemen is better than Ramen for me. The best experience. The host of the place was so accommodating. Heads up place is small and I compact but really good food. Try the spicy.

Delicious tsukemen in this small restaurant. You order your food from a machine. The waitress was polite during our interactions however she kept standing right in front of us and just staring while we ate. It was extremely uncomfortable and took away the enjoyment of the food. She barely cleaned. She was on her phone and picking at her nails looking bored when she wasn't just staring at us. I get that there isn't a lot of room and that we're tourists, but this is just disrespectful! We had been polite, we had said our please and thank yous. We had been quiet while the two local teenage girls were loud. This could be a one off thing or just that particular staff but I would not recommend this restaurant to tourists.
Kiryoku M — Google review
Pleasant surprise in Nakano, recommended by a local for tsukomen. Broth was flavorful, a little salty, but not heart clogging in fattiness and oil. Noodles were cooked well and toothsome, but could be a little firmer. Pork portion was a bit small and mashed like you'd get from a can rather than in slices or chucks, but this could be the style. Counter was a little sticky, but tolerable. Appreciated the water upon entry and the magical food elevator to the kitchen above or below. Solid 4 stars. Would recommend if you're in the neighborhood. Cash only, machine ordering, 8 seats.

If you're looking for a traditional dipping ramen and traditional Japanese ramen shop atmosphere, this is the place you should visit if you come to Nakano station area. Walk out from north gate, and make a right, you'll see this ramen shop right at the first corner. Their dipping ramen offers authentic bonito flavour, and they also serve wheat germ noodles, which is something special that you should try. There's only 5 seats in the entire ramen shop, reserve min. 20 minutes for waiting during dining period of time.

A must-try Tsukemen Shop when you're in Nakano. I was greeted by the pleasant staff who's all smiles. She informed me that this is not a Ramen place, but Tsukemen. (Of course I know, but it seems like a lot went here with different expectations. She helped me choose what to order. 990 Yen for a Tsukemen with Pork. Darn was it sooo tasty! The broth is kinda a mix of pork and fish. It's complex and it tastes delicious! The cold noodles are perfectly cooked, too! It's really not cold, but warm. Just enough for you to dig in right away. The place is kinda small, though. Seats max of 10 I think, so expect a line on meal times.
Lex — Google review
When I was still living near Nakano, this place has been my go to spot for tsukemen. Its broth is a very thick and tasy fish base vegetable soup with a thick chunky soft pork meat. You get to choose 2 types of noodles, I normally go with the atsumen. Highly recommend this place. Get the additional aji-tama (flavored egg)

Coffee shop
Lou is a charming cafe located in Nakano, offering a diverse food menu with Nordic-inspired soups, pastries, cakes, and ice cream. The cafe provides a relaxing atmosphere with soft music playing from a vinyl record player. Visitors can enjoy quality coffee and delicious food while soaking in the chic and hipster vibe of the place. The friendly staff ensures that customers have a pleasant experience, even during busy times.
Lovely lovely lovely cafe in Nakano. Unfortunately there's always a line here but it's totally worth the wait. This cafe has a cozy vibe that welcomes you warmly when days get colder. A wide choice of vinyls but only adorns the walls but also assures you that you'll never get tired of the background music here. The warm blankets they offer to customers who are cold, the delicious cakes that welcome you at the entrance, the soft and warm colours really show how much care the owners put into creating this cafe. I had a lovely meal here with a dear friend and I'd love to go again, maybe to try their salads instead!

Great place to spend an afternoon but to anyone who’s not very tolerant with caffeine, please be careful ordering the cold brew coffee‼️I’m very tolerant with caffeine but after just three sips of their cold brew I immediately felt the caffeine started to kick in. My pulse then became very fast and felt a bit dizzy and nauseous. I know cold brew tend to be strong BUT WHOA THIS ONE WAS JUST TOO STRONG💀 Might try some lunch plate and other coffee next time but definitely not cold brew again🤦🏻‍♀️ (Visited in last September. It’s getting into hot season now so just wanna send a kind reminder to everyone:)

Such a nice coffee shop ! The whole vibe is very nice and chill with nice music. The staff is friendly. About drink and food : I had a chai latte, which was a tad too sweet but it was good, and the veggies and cream cheese bagel, which is not really bagel bread, but it’s soooo good ! Very tasty, I highly recommend ! I had carrot cake for dessert, it was good, but I wish there was more frosting on the side haha. The only thing I regret about this place is its opening time because it closes too early so it was the first time I could go on my free time. I will definitely go again !

A nicely decorated (calming effect) cafe that sit quietly along the busy street. Love the simple wood design. The food was good too. Tried the pumpkin and sweet potato cake (something different from my usual to go to carrot cake) and “wow!”, it was great!

We stopped in at this place by pure chance. It had a lovely atmosphere and curated cool vibe. If you love a relaxing jazzy spot, this is the place. We had brunch and it was compared to some of the yummiest food in Japan for us. Try not to come during busy periods, and if it’s busy maybe come back. This place would be sullied with a big line. Couldn’t recommend enough. So delicious.

I saw a lot of people recommend Coffee milk so I gave it a try. It’s not so bad but not my type. If you are a person who doesn’t like sweet coffee then don’t order this. The service is good and the environment is comfortable but a little bit crowded so maybe not a good place to read or study. And the price here is a little bit higher than the average
Claire — Google review
Warm and inviting coffee shop with good music and relatively long opening hours. Very blissful to sit outside and do some people watching and staring into space. Since it was getting late in the afternoon I didn’t try the coffee or the food but ordered instead the milk ice cream with a lemonade and an NE IPA on tap. So good!

Went for a weekday lunch and waited around 15 min for a seat. The seating is quite limited so best to go with no more than three people. The salad was well made with Kale and a variety of seasonal vegetables that are grown locally. There’s no time limit so you can enjoy a long conversation with a friend here.

Ramen restaurant
Ramen Minowa-ke Nakano Flagship Store is a popular family-owned ramen shop known for its friendly staff and delicious food. Customers have been impressed by the quality of the dishes, especially when dining in at the store. The special dish with charcuterie topping has received rave reviews for its delicious flavor and generous portions. The emulsified soup, a fusion of Iekei ramen and Jiro-style richness, has exceeded expectations with its amazing pork richness and sweet flavor.
Fantastic special tonkotsu ramen. The environment really represents to me what it feels to eat like a local in the Nakano area. The staff are super friendly, and love interacting with you in English! Speaking of the ramen itself though, the soup is extremely rich and very flavorful. Not super oily, and in combination with garlic paste, white pepper and sesame seeds, you get an elevated garlic tonkotsu ramen! Would recommend to stop by if you are in the nakano area!

Ramen are delicious and very filling, not very expensive too but it feels nicely made, delicious broth and noodles. Super friendly staff who definitely looked happy to have some foreigners !

When I stopped by the ramen shop, I decided to try their signature Minowa Ramen—and it turned out to be a wonderful surprise. The rich tonkotsu aroma hit me right away, instantly drawing me in. The broth was incredibly delicious—thick, creamy, and the kind you want to savor slowly. The staff were cheerful and energetic, which really added to the experience. A variety of toppings gave each bite its own little twist, keeping things interesting from start to finish. Given the depth of flavor and overall quality, the price felt like a real bargain. With its lively atmosphere and satisfying yet affordable dishes, this place is definitely worth recommending to any ramen lover.

Dumpling restaurant
In the vibrant neighborhood of Harajuku in Tokyo, amidst the eclectic fashion and bustling streets, lies a hidden gem known as Harajuku Gyozaro. This unassuming eatery is celebrated for serving some of the finest and reasonably priced dumplings in the city. Specializing in gyoza, or pan-fried dumplings, this intimate counter-serve offers a simple yet delightful menu featuring trays of six steamed or fried gyoza filled with either vegetable or chicken and vegetables.
At first glance, the cooking station didn’t inspire much confidence — it looked a bit grimy, with visible grease buildup. But we decided to give it a shot, and honestly, it was a great call. We tried every variety of gyoza on the menu and they were all delicious. The tofu with toppings was a standout. The prices are very fair too, so I’d definitely recommend checking this place out.
Przemek K — Google review
A very simple spot that delivers on both atmosphere and food. It fills up quickly, so get there early—otherwise you’ll be waiting a while to get in and even longer for your gyoza. The pan-fried gyoza are the best, especially the garlic ones. As for sides, the chicken soup is excellent, and the bean sprouts with minced meat are just as good.
Rob K — Google review
The special meat sauce on the tofu was life-changing. The owner came out and plucked me out of line because I was a solo diner in a sea of groups and it was an amazing lunch. I loved watching the chef make the gyoza. What a cool process!

Worth the wait! Regretted not waiting in line the last time I was in the area and made sure to come early this time!! Gyoza was super juicy. Went for the pan fried ones and really really good! Hoping to drop by again!

Great dumplings for a really good price. We didn’t have to wait long which helped a lot. If the line is long, I wouldn’t recommend waiting, there’s lots of other nice places around. But if it’s short, give it a try, you probably won’t find any better price/quality anywhere

Nice place away from the Main Street. The food is a blend of Chinese/Japanese noodles. Order thru QR code in English. Shrimp suimai and pork suimai are delicious. The ramen is Chinese based w a nice crunch texture. Very nice clear soap base w generous slices of pork chashu

We ordered two set meals, but only one was served. We waited for more than 15 minutes, and nothing came. When we followed up, the staff said we only ordered one set, even though we were billed for two. Only then did they serve the missing set. Our drinks also came very late and only after another follow-up. The customer service was poor, and the waiting time was unreasonable. The staff seemed more focused on attending to people outside than those already dining in. Would not recommend this place and definitely not coming back.
Jhonrey Q — Google review
Ordered the tofu and original gyoza w garlic & chives (6 pieces). The tofu came quick but the gyoza took approx. 15mins. Despite the long waiting time, the 1 of gyoza came as in the picture - broken skin. The rest was stuck together and had no way of taking apart without breaking skin - as in the video. Luckily, we were there only to get a snack. Service wise, the guy who took our order and served the gyoza was the same - rude. Not sure if its because we ordered lesser than the norm but that should be no excuse given there was no crowd. Waste of time and money.

It’s a must go place for figurine bargain hunters. Everyone goes to Akihabara for figurines but missed out on this superb place. Besides figurines and gashspons there are also other souvenirs that you can get here. P.s: I visit this place on my occasions. You won’t miss it. Just a distance from the last station of the Tozai line. Along the way there are many eateries too.

For us not looking for any particular anime toys or figures, first visit here & this place offers a different nostalgic kind of vibe. More toys seen on the upper storey, and less crowd similar to shopping street in other cities. Unlikely for us to revisit due to interest and it is out of the way

Awesome hidden gem (not so hidden anymore I guess) to buy anime, otaku merchandise as well as the primary reason why I visited. WATCHES. Whether used or brand new the various shops here have many to offer from different popular brands like Rolex, Omega, Grand Seiko, JLC, Patek Philippe and many others. Women's luxury bags are also being offered. Just roam around and compare prices and inventory and most likely you could walk away with your dream watch tax free (if you are a foreigner).

Tucked away just five minutes from Shinjuku by train, Nakano Broadway is a paradise for anime fans, retro gamers, and treasure hunters of all kinds. This multi-floor shopping complex may look modest from the outside, but inside it’s a labyrinth of nostalgia, collectibles, and geeky wonders. 🕹️ What’s Inside? Each floor is like a time machine – packed with rare figurines, vintage manga, capsule toys, and second-hand gems you won’t find anywhere else. It’s Mandarake central here – with many branches specializing in everything from signed manga to old-school PlayStation games. 🎨 Not Just for Otakus Beyond anime, you’ll find quirky fashion boutiques, oddball antiques, underground art, and even traditional sweets. There’s also a shrine tucked away in the upper floors for a moment of peace amid the chaos. 🍜 Fuel Up! Grab a melonpan or sip a bubble tea in between shops – Nakano’s shotengai (covered street) leading up to Broadway is filled with snack spots and cozy eateries. 📸 Pro Tip: Look up and look closely – many of the best finds are hidden behind unassuming doors or nestled in tiny shops on the upper levels. This place rewards curiosity. ⸻ ✨ Whether you’re a hardcore collector or just love the quirky side of Japan, Nakano Broadway is a must-visit. It’s Akihabara’s weirder, cooler cousin – and a place where time stands still in the best way.

Nakano Station, located just west of Shinjuku in Tokyo, is a popular residential area often referred to as 'Otaku Heaven.' The main attraction near the station is Nakano Broadway, a large shopping center on Nakano Sun Mall shotengai street. This place draws fans and hobbyists from all over Japan with its rare collectibles, comics, costumes, and toys. Surrounding Nakano Broadway are narrow streets filled with restaurants and bars.
The north exit is a bar district with many miscellaneous shops and hidden gems, while the south exit is lined with fashionable shops, led by Rengazaka Street. It's an excellent residential area, well connected to Shinjuku, and the rent is moderate, so it's recommended if she's looking for a rental in the city center. There are many connecting routes, so she gets the impression that she will never run out of options for going out to faraway places or for very love working so hard.

A tunnel of voices, posters, and nostalgia — Nakano is both marketplace and memory. From the anime arcades of Broadway to yakitori smoke under the tracks, it celebrates everything joyful and a little chaotic. The train glides above this carnival calmly, carrying the scent of grilled sauce and rain. Tourist Tip: Exit to Nakano Broadway for anime, figures, and pop culture treasures. The side alleys hide excellent izakayas and ramen shops. Lively but friendly at any hour.

If you are traveling to or through Nakano station in a wheelchair, let the attendant at your origin station know so they can call ahead. Nakano doesn't have an elevator, but it has stair lift and escalator cutaway for wheelchairs, and all of the attendants were very patient, professional, and personable with assisting. They will redirect foot traffic on the stairs and escalators to use the lift. It's not the quickest process, but be patient as this is one of the more busy stations. I see a lot of reviews about the station not having an elevator so I wanted to give an update with my experience. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Safe travels!

This area is also famous for many shops who trade in branded vintage watches n timepieces - Rolex, Hublot, Panerai, Patek Philippe etc- one of the more renowned shops being Jack Road. There’s also wonderful food n snacks everywhere. All these activities being just within the surrounding area of Nakano Station- just a stone’s throw away. Very nice! Room was clean, location was excellent, staff incredibly friendly. And a great deal for the price. Enjoy this landmark while you can - I believe it is slated to be demolished soon. Many famous concerts were held in the concert hall under the hotel, and often when there is a rock album titled "Live in Japan" or "The Tokyo Tapes" it was performed here.

Ideal location in my opinion. It's right across the street from Nakano train station. But you don't hear the trains or traffic at all. Nokano itself has lots to see and do. Nice, interesting shops. Even better, Nakano borders Koenji - one of our favorite areas. Also, Shinjuku is only 2-3 stops away. The hotel itself is a little odd in a couple ways. It is the top 4 floors of a 20-story tower and requires two elevators to get to your room. Not a big deal. Just pointing out that the building isn't a dedicated hotel. The rooms themselves are the size we expect in Tokyo. But they're efficient and have good amenities like coffee/tea and a hot water pot, hair dryer, toiletries, robes, etc. Clean and well maintained room. Very efficient and helpful staff. I'd say it was an excellent value for the price. Our room was about $128/night including tax.

Great location This hotel is across the road from Nakano station. The best entrance is on the right side when facing the hotel. If you go in the main entrance, the lifts are at the back of the building to the left of the big flight of stairs. Rooms are good size, very comfortable beds, breakfast standard Japanese, western mix. Easy to buy reasonably priced food just across the road along the arcade, or good old 7/11.

Hurry up and view the landmark white triangular Nakano Sunplaza building housing a legendary concert hall, hotel and restaurants. The local municipal government plans to demolish it and neighboring city hall from around 2024 to replace them with a private-sector event hall and skyscraper.

Very nice view :) but a poor-ventilated room😥
Connie A — Google review
Located really near to the station, you just have to cross the stress after you exit the station. You will be able to spot it really quickly once you exit the station. There are many places to shop and eat around the area with some eateries opening till quite late. The hotel room itself might be a little small (it might just be because Japanese hotel rooms are quite small in general) but it's still really nice. The room walls are quite thick as well. Staffs are also able to understand and speak basic English, which is really useful since I can't really speak Japanese that well. I would highly recommend this place if you are thinking of attending a concert there at the Sun Plaza as well, as the concert hall is literally just below it. That way you don't have to travel down to the hotel early in the morning to queue for your concert. As the Japanese usually start queuing for them quite early in the morning with a queue already forming around 11am. You would also not have to worry about your concert ending late and missing the last train back which is really quite nice.
Lylla V — Google review
I can only rate the concert hall but it's a good one. Not so sophisticated and a bit old, but the front side sections of seats are angled to the stage - something you don't often see.

Visited a Japanese restaurant on 20th floor during lunchtime. Very nice, divided into western food left side and Japanese food right side, delicious and by far not as crowded as the area north of Nakano station during lunch time. Worth also mentioning the large parking place in an otherwise very crowded area.

Nature & Parks
Nestled just a short stroll from Nakano Station, Nakano Shiki no Mori Park is a charming urban oasis that beckons visitors to unwind and enjoy the outdoors. This compact park is an ideal spot for picnicking, especially with nearby food vendors offering delicious street food options. While it may not be the most picturesque park in the area, its inviting atmosphere makes it a lovely place to savor your bento or grab a coffee at J, a cozy eatery on-site.
Lovely small open area park. Very kid friendly. Lots of seating area. Seems very dog on leash friendly. There is a Starbucks, a McDonalds and 2 Lawson convenience stores all facing the side of the park. It's a 5 minute walk from Nakano station. Lovely place to chill out.
Harro — Google review
Perfect place for events and picnics, but I do wish there was more nature... maybe some trees to block off the busy road from view would be nice. Especially in winter, but in summer too, it's a slightly sad looking park. Too much flat grass and no nice plants.

There was a Hawaiian festival with food trucks. Really nice.

Nice place to hang out. Get your own BBQ. Bring your own tarp since there is no place to sit on the grass. Some of it is overgrown. Also bring bugspray, you will get bit.

The store is famous for its vintage and preowned watch collection from prestigious brands like Rolex, Omega, Seiko, Vacheron Constantin, Cartier, IWC, Patek Philippe, and Audemars Piguet. The staff is knowledgeable, patient, and eager to assist, making the shopping experience smooth and enjoyable. The quality of their watches is top-notch, with meticulous attention to detail and authenticity. Pricing is fair, offering excellent value for such high-quality timepieces. Whether you're a seasoned collector or a first-time buyer, Jack Road is a trustworthy and reliable store. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase and highly recommend it to anyone in search of a great watch.

Bought my 2024 Omega diver 300M here, unused and in perfect condition w/ box and papers. I saved $2k USD by buying here given the tax discount and currency conversion. This place will most likely have the watch you are looking for, so come visit and take a look. The staff are helpful, friendly, and provide their own warranty as well. Perfect place to buy your dream watch while you are on vacation. Make sure to bring your passport for your tax discount.

Found the Seiko 62MAS re-issue I was looking for. Service was top notch- even though the watch I was buying was relatively cheap, there are people spending much more than I was. But you are still treated like a king. You sort of expect this in Japan, but it's still nice when it happens.
Michael K — Google review
This was my second time visiting the store on a different visit to Japan. They have a wide variety that provides quite a range for all different types of customers. My first visit at this store was quite overwhelming especially with the crowds during the weekends. I came here specifically to check out the German-made watches and came across one of the models I was looking for. As you get more involved in time pieces it’s really more than just the Rolex, AP, and the Omega’s of the world. That’s why I love coming to Nakano Broadway because you mind find your diamond in the ruff. My time piece is brand new October 2024 with box and paper. I would not hesitate buying pre-owned here, lots of great vintage time pieces. My sales associate was limited on English but it was good enough for us to get by. Would definitely return and bust on a grail watch. Also you can’t go wrong with some of the other stores here. My wife bought vintage at a different store and to this day it works like a charm.

Great place to pick up a nice watch. Price is super competitive. Lots of Rolex watches but there were lots of other brands too. I was able to find a Breightling that I love.

Had an amazing experience at Jack Road & Betty Road! Staff were very friendly, helpful and informative. From start to finish, it was a personable experience. Purchased an item both in the men’s and women’s section, and I will definitely be returning in the future. Great deals, and a vast variety of items, beyond just watches. I highly recommend this store.

This was my second time visiting Jackroad and I had an amazing experience again. I was assisted by Kawano-san, who not only understood my limited Japanese, but was also very friendly and a pleasure to deal with. The sales process was seamless until I had an issue with my card. Kawano-san allowed me to use the store phone to contact my bank and get the sale finalized. He requested help from Mana-san to for the long distance call, and she remained to complete the entire process. I am happy to have returned to Jackroad, and next time I will ask for Kawano-san. Both he and Mana-san were great and it was pleasure to be their customer.

Ramen restaurant
Tadaima Henshinchu, located near Nakano Broadway, is a unique ramen shop that infuses French culinary techniques into traditional Japanese ramen. The chef, with 14 years of experience in French cuisine, has brought a new level of creativity to the dish. Signature offerings like the Spicy Oyster Ramen and Red Snapper and Soy Milk Ramen showcase innovative cooking methods and modern presentation.
Close to Nakano broadway, Tadaima henshinchu offer a french play on Ramen. The broth is based with seabream, a fish from Japan and oysters. The result is a light, flavorful and silky broth, not too strong. I was impressed the price of the bowl is not too much compared to current other ramen bowl I especially liked their limited edition with mushroom oil, it gives a special kick and gives originality to the bowl.
Quang-tran D — Google review
Heard this ramen restaurant from online so I had a chance to try the extreme rich oyster. The soup is very rich, texture of noodles is chewy. Over all is pretty good.
Parnpon P — Google review
Ramen was VERY, VERY DELICIOUS!!! It's very umami, the broth is I'm guessing a mixture of tonkotsu (pork bone broth) and some seafood stock, I could be very wrong but anyways it was a really amazing, solid bowl for less than 1000yen! BUT in the middle of summer...... the place was just as hot as the ramen bowl 😭 Would love to come back sometime later when the weather starts to be more forgiving.

A very unique French fusion ramen restaurant. Ordered the extreme rich oyster noodles with sea bream and soy milk soup. Really interesting fish oyster base soup and the noodles were really nice. Very contemporary style. The bread was really nice pairing with the soup.

A+ quality! Great price coupled with authentic flavor! Definitely will be back :) The below is added to my old review This place never disappoints me. Their ramen is always above and beyond my expectations! My go to menu is extreme rich aka ramen with a side of oyster rice bowl. P.S They used to only take cash ,but since they got a new ticket machine, they have started taking credit cards.

Unagi restaurant
Unatoto Nakano is a hidden gem that offers affordable and quick meals featuring unagi, or grilled freshwater eel. The restaurant's signature dish, the unadon, consists of grilled eel glazed with a sweet-savoury sauce over white rice and costs as little as 590 yen. For 1,100 yen, visitors can enjoy hitsumabushi, a specialty from Aichi prefecture that resembles unaju and should be savored in two ways.
We visited on recommendations from friends. If you love Unagi, this is a place to visit. The portion is generous, the extras that come with the main dish, and the quick service. Price wise its very worth it. Definitely would visit again 😍😍😍

The food is very good, and the prices are very reasonable. The tea is free, and surprisingly nice! The staff are foreigners, so they seem to know how to serve and recommend dishes that suit other foreigners. The restaurant is small, but it feels warm and cozy. Even the flower decorations add a cute touch to the place. I feel like I’m at home every time I come here. Highly recommended for anyone looking for delicious unagi at an affordable price.

Jody A — Google review
This was my 2nd visit and this got me so disappointed. The first time I was there everything was great - food, service and well the atmosphere was just okay. The seats were a bit cramped but it was bearable. The 2nd visit however was so totally different from the first time. The servers were foreigners and we didn’t mind at first til they made a mistake serving our supposed to be food to the other table. The other table’s party just got seated and ordered, so we were kinda envious at first that they prioritized them over us. Turns out it was our order that they served to them. They talked it out with the other table and the staff took back the one order that wasn’t touched by the other table. Later, they served it to us. Now, I’m not so sure if that’s exactly the same thing that was given and taken from the other table but it looked like it. After that mistake, they kept us waiting for long again, and they even forgot to serve our other orders. The food was so so for me but my companion got hurt from a big bone of his food. We were expecting small bones but there was one big bone. I don’t usually write these kind of bad reviews but the 2nd visit was really terrible for us that we decided not to go back anymore.

(Translated by Google) Since it's located further from the station on the same street as the Nakano Ekimae branch, this one is often less crowded. However, you need to be careful when ordering from a mobile device. Morning set is 350 yen. I think it's a good deal. Wait times (how many minutes until service is available) are now displayed. In the morning, you can order not only small and regular portions of rice, but also large and extra large portions for the same price. I always order the double-serving rice with raw or soft-boiled egg, which you can choose between. You can also choose natto, hiyayakko, or tororo, but I personally recommend the mini beef plate. I wonder if all that's worth 350 yen. In addition, although it's unclear when, they sometimes distribute four free service coupons for your choice, in a set of four. You can choose from potato salad, kimchi, grated scallion, or three types of jelly, and these can be used for the morning set. I think it's a very helpful service. The older female employee was quite rude, remarking that we reeked of tempura (not sure why she would say something like that) and making a sour face. Cedric A — Google review
I am a HUGE demon slayer fan and came here for the demon slayer collaboration. A little background on my first and probably last visit to this cafe. I came all the way from London to Tokyo. One of the activities I look forward to most is this cafe. The booking for this is difficult. I am not used to the lottery booking system, so to understand the translated rules on LivePocket is difficult. I didn't even know which ufotable tokyo cafe to book, the website is not clear ( I booked first floor one). The first obstacle was setting up an account in LivePocket. I was still in the UK when I set this up. I ended up having to contact my phone company to let me send an SMS to a Japanese number to verify my account. Second obstacle I faced was the need to book the Thursday before. I was at USJ that Thursday before. When the slots came live, I had to drop everything to buy a ticket fearing it would sold out, it was stressful. I ended up getting the seats and went to Nakano for this cafe. The cafe was ok, a little demon slayer themed things. When I ordered my food, I misunderstood the rules (only in Japanese) about what an additional order meant. I thought I could order food more than once but no, you can order drinks as many time as you like but food is only once. So I only ordered one dish and got one random placemat which wasn't the character I want exactly but ok. I quickly realised it's better to order multiple dishes to get more placemats but it was already too late. I blamed myself for not clarifying with the staff so I ended up pretty disappointed. Food was alright, nothing special nor decorated. The amount of merch there is alright ~ All in all, if you're flying a long way to Japan for this, not really worth it ~ I didn't regret going but I think winning the lottery seats hyped me up too much, I was setting myself up for disappointment. I spent more time figuring out how to book this cafe than strategising my time at USJ. I think it would be more fun if I could go for a few more times but unfortunately I could only go once. Not very tourist friendly, think it's more targeting locals. Staff is super nice though but communication in english is difficult. Food is very affordable. I am glad I came to visit but unfortunately it caused more heartbreak than joy in my case ~ I ended up shopping in nakano broadway to shop away my sadness.

Not a café worth recommending, located in an unattractive and ugly neighborhood, rather shabby and simple inside. Definitely not worth a visit.

Cashier was awful and very blatantly xenophobic. He rolled his eyes at me asking questions and did not try to help me out at all. I could tell he wanted me gone and he made me very uncomfortable.

Nakano ZERO Some call this public venue the cultural hub of Nakano City. Here in this one, reasonably accessible location, you’ll a concert with wonderful acoustics (more on that later) and a theater hosting every kind of event from dance performances to exhibitions and even movies. When a colleague invited a group of diverse culturally curious folks to a public “community hall” in Nakano to see a local ballet company’s free annual holiday production, my expectations were instantly set to very low. Except for an opportunity to watch ballet live, the chosen venue offered little appeal. I could hardly believe that his plan for the day included having us all arrive hours before the show just so we could “get the best seats.” Perhaps it was my initial low expectations? But oh man, how I was so impressed with this place. Granted, we probably did get the best seats in the house, but the experience was one of the best I’ve ever had for a live show anywhere. And that includes venues like Shinjuku Opera City and Suntory Hall. The acoustics here are truly world class. And the lighting system left no room for complaints as well. The view of the stage from the left side of the hall was quite generous. I could really feel the grace, power, and emotion of the performance.

I went to watch Movie . It was well equipped but the speaker were not good . Hall was really old . They had lots of exit sign which makes the halls looks clear . During movie time black halls are preferred . Washroom aren’t well managed. It’s far from the station . You needs to walks nearly 10 mins fro the station to reach there . It doesn’t looks like a movie hall from outside . I was surprised. The hall is really big . May be nearly 300 people sit they have . Sits are comfortable . This hall is available for everyone to book . It’s good to perform some small type program . It will be nice if they clean it property once . It looks bit dirty .Anyway the time I spend there was nice . Thanks Destiny creation team 🙏. The movie I watched was captain .It is not worthy to spend 3000 yen plus time .

Nakano Sun Mall Shotengai is a covered pedestrian arcade in the western side of Tokyo, just a few stops away from Shinjuku. It features 110 shops and snack stalls lining a tiled walkway under an arched, glass-panel ceiling. The arcade leads to Nakano Broadway shopping center, known for its otaku culture offerings such as figures, anime, manga, vintage movie posters, and cosplay goods.
Good variety and u ought to set aside at least 3 hours here. Most shops are opened only at noon. Don’t come too early.

From Nakano Station, cross the street - so convenient. Take 1-2 hrs to look at the various shops and if you’re not tired, continue to Nakano Broadway. Watch the cute puppies, shop for clothes, or grab a bite to eat!

Very cool place to stop for a visit, especially if it's on your way and you have some time to kill. Lots of shops lots of food, something for everyone.

Nakano Sun mall was quite cool to visit. It's different from a traditional mall. Over there are very special items and things such as figurines of anime, mangas, studio Ghibli, nintendo, as well as games and vintage items for collection, etc. It's was cool to discover and got some nice decoys in quite affordable price 😄👍🏻

I remained surprised to find such a place in Nakano: when I first booked my accommodation here I thought it was a plain area, instead I found this beautiful street full of shops, restaurants and street food. Also, the street is attached to Nakano Broadway (another small Mall), the area is surrounded by tons of small restaurants and it is just 1m walk from the North entrance/exit of Nakano Station. I loved every single corner of it, from the location to the offer! A lot of shops offer Tax free and in quite the majority of the shops I visited there was somebody able to speak a bit of English. Good food, good prices and great atmosphere! Rather you live or are staying in Nakano or not, it is worth a visit!

Ice cream shop
Daily Chiko is a must-visit spot near Nakano Broadway, known for its towering 20cm soft serve ice cream with eight layers of deliciousness. The flavors, such as vanilla, chocolate, matcha, and ramune soda, may vary but are always delightful. Despite its intimidating appearance, the ice cream is surprisingly light and contains fewer calories than regular soft serves.
Finally made it to the legendary soft serve place Daily Chiko. If you're serious about ice cream you'll get the extra large with all their flavours. Did this challenge in the middle of summer and it is boiling in the basement where this iconic stand is located. EAT FAST. Flavours include Strawberry, Coffee, Milk, Chocolate, Matcha, Banana, Grape and Ramune Soda.
David X — Google review
Daily Chiko is an absolute awesome. Their famous 8 layer ice cream is not just a treat for your taste buds, but also for the eyes. Each layer has its own unique flavour and texture, and somehow they all work together perfectly. From rich and creamy to light and refreshing, every bite keeps you excited for the next. The presentation is incredible, it’s tall, colorful, and makes you feel like you’re getting the ultimate indulgence. Portion size is generous, so it’s great for sharing (though honestly, you’ll want it all to yourself). On top of that, the staff are always friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. Daily Chiko is definitely one of those spots that you’ll keep coming back to whenever you’re craving something fun, unique, and absolutely delicious.
Ri W — Google review
Wasn’t brave enough to try the 8-flavor cone because I don’t think I can eat it all up, but I went for the smallest three-flavor cone and it was well worth it. Love the pistachio flavor and the strawberry as well. Will try other flavors next time I find myself in Nakano. There is a small seating and customers keep coming and going. Be forewarned, the ice cream gets heavier the more flavors you choose! XD
Gaijin G — Google review
Delicious soft serve ice cream with a wide variety of flavours. I got the pistachio and vanilla which were creamy, light and delicious. The shop is located in the basement!
D S — Google review
(Recorded on September 13, 2025) A shop famous for its gigantic soft-serve ice cream. You can choose between a cone or a cup—each with its own downside. The cone tends to tip over easily, while the cup makes your hand cold. Either way, the melting ice cream ends up dripping onto your hand 🤣
Nemesis C — Google review
Decent ice cream in lots of great flavors. It was hard to find using map apps; it was in the basement on the same floor as the Seiyu grocery store. Cash only.

Cool "Little" shop to make a stop while checking out the MANY shops around that area. What makes this small shop unique is that it has the likes of "Uzamaki," and merchandise along the Japanese horror scene. Again it's a small shop so don't expect a Great, Big selection, But quaint and Cool. ENJOY!

Nature & Parks
Nakano City Araiyakushi Park is a spacious, landscaped green area that boasts a playground, water feature for kids, and restrooms. The park is filled with trees and provides ample shade for visitors to enjoy. It is a family-friendly location suitable for young children below eight years old with swings and slides available in addition to an open field where toddlers can crawl around and collect fallen leaves during autumn.
Shrine next to the park is also nice. The park itself was very relaxing with some people fishing on the small pond. Do visit if you have time.
Isaac L — Google review
Relaxing place to just breathe. Everyone keeps to themselves, the trees are beautiful, and often there are the sounds of children playing happily in the distance. Very relaxing place to gather your thoughts
Bradley B — Google review
A rather big park for the area, fun place for kids, especially if they're under eight. There are swings and slides, but seemingly half of the toddlers just crawl on the field, collecting fallen leaves all over. (It's November now.) No dogs allowed in the park, while smoking is not prohibited, but they only smoke in the real corner of the park, so it's not really a big problem.

Gindacos has the best Takoyakis ever, they are saving my quick lunches in Tokyo. Great service and great food, it wasn't crowded but anyway it's not like other Gindacos with places to sit and be more than 2 people. But highly recommended.
Bruno G — Google review
Nice place for a decent quick meal. There are no chairs but only standing tables, so this is not great if you need to rest. As a positive there's a heated area where one can eat and the food seems to be ready very quickly. In particular the takoyaki balls are being prepared constantly. Taste is ok. The octopus is very, very chewy.
Francesco B — Google review
We grabbed 8 takoyakis to go and they were fantastic! They’re a bit different from what we’re used to in North America but they were still very good nonetheless. I highly recommend you try them if you’re in Nakano broadway!
Scott L — Google review
This (Takoyaki) is really delicious. Octopus feet are added to the dough and baked into balls about 3-5 cm in diameter. Served with different ingredients, the seaweed tastes fragrant and looks neat and beautiful. The taste is salty and fresh. So nice Japanese food.
Chan K — Google review
I had walked close to 20K steps by the time I hit this Takoyaki joint. Saw a small queue and decided to partake in a small snack. I had originally planned to do a take-away, but noticed there were seats available. Decided to get a load off and enjoy my takoyaki as picture. Free refillable cold water avaible for those of you who are thirsty,

I went to this spot a few months ago while on my way to Nagano Broadway since I saw a bunch of people queueing up outside, and it was honestly some of the best takoyaki I've had in Japan! Densetsu No Sutadon'ya is a popular syokudo and teishoku restaurant known for its diverse menu and limited-time additions. While most patrons are drawn to the flavorful Sutadon, personally, I find their Karaage to be the highlight. The establishment offers an array of condiments like garlic paste and chili paste to enhance the taste of Karaage.

Always come here to eat their abura soba. The taste of the soba sometimes change depends of the chef. Sometimes I got too salty but overall it is good and most importantly it is cheap. Only around 600¥ compare to 800¥ in Shinjuku for the same restaurant chains.

(Translated by Google) *Takeout ・Hiden Sutadon Bento (with soft-boiled egg) 890 yen, original size The last time chee ate a Sutadon was over 10 years ago. I was surprised that it was so expensive!? But it can't be helped considering the rise in prices. The Sutadon that was bought for me had a nice garlic smell even before I opened the lid ( *¯ ꒳¯*) sniff sniff♡♡ Since it was at home, I could top it with kimchi, pickled ginger, red pickled ginger, mayonnaise, etc. as much as I wanted ( * ॑꒳ ॑*) I imagined it to be more flavorful, but it wasn't that strong and was light (!?) and I finished it in one go♪ ...Huh!? I finished it in one go!? I checked the menu on the website beforehand and it said that the original size has 100g of meat and 370g of rice. Some portions are smaller, like 80% or 50% full, but I ordered the original portion thinking I could leave some and eat it for dinner, but I ended up eating it all. Normally, chee is full with 250g of rice + side dish, but he finished 370g of rice in no time and still had room left in his stomach... My husband and I both said, "This definitely can't be 370g, right?" If I get takeout again, I'll take it apart and weigh the rice and meat lol Thank you for the meal!

When I visited for the first time in a while, the sales style had changed quite a bit, and it was now basically unmanned and cashless. VATANIM is a small restaurant located in Nakano city, offering authentic East Asian cuisines such as Kirghiz and Afghanistan. It is popular among Japanese locals and Middle Eastern customers for its halal food options at an affordable price. The cozy environment and friendly staff make visitors feel at home while enjoying delicious Uzbek cuisine. Despite its small size, the restaurant is stroller-friendly and suitable for small groups.
We are international travellers and love to try new food. We’ve never had Uzbeki food, and it was amazing. Everyone including the teens loved it. So flavorful, tasty and affordable. The dessert was the best we’ve had in Tokyo in 2 weeks. Highly recommend and would seek out Uzbeki restaurants in Europe when I return.

I was in the area and looking for something to eat for dinner, and came across this place. And I’m glad I did. It’s an Uzbek restaurant, which seems to be a rarity in Tokyo, but an absolute treat. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the service good. I went with the traditional plov and non, and both were fantastic. The plov is a rice dish with meat and vegetables, and the non is their traditional bread. I recommend trying both. Next time I’d like to try one of the noodle dishes as they all looked terrific. This one is definitely worth your time.

Coming here regularly, best Uzbek food I’ve tried in Japan, prices are great and the staff are nice and friendly. Lagman is my favorite, but all the dishes I’ve tried were mouth watering tasty. Totally recommend if you’re looking for good Uzbek food in Tokyo.

We were 4 people on a rainy Saturday and we managed to find a table for lunch. The menu has several different options but we were disappointed they ran out of a few (some pastries and skewers). The mushroom and pumpkin pastries were amazing and very fresh. The skewers were tasty and juicy. The rice with meat was the only one that was average. Unfortunately they didn't have any deserts. All in all, the food was good but they could improve on the availability

(Translated by Google) The store is located just outside the south exit of Nakano Station. Perhaps because there are fewer people on the south exit than on the north exit, it was empty even though it was near the station and it was almost noon on a Sunday. The kitchen and counter are mostly on the first floor, and the seating is on the second floor. At Burger King, it takes a while to cook, so after ordering at the counter, you usually get a number and wait at your seat, and the food is brought to you, but this place probably doesn't have the staff, so you have to wait in front of the counter. This is a bad system. As a result, even though the area in front of the counter is relatively empty, it is somewhat crowded with people waiting for their items. After receiving the item, I went to the second floor, but the second floor was empty. That's not a good way to manage it. That's why I gave it 3 stars. I think Burger King ranks among the top hamburger chains in terms of delicious meat. When you want hamburger meat, look no further than Burger King. The standard of cooking at this restaurant is average. The store was also very clean, probably because it was empty.

I think they are trying to capture the hearts of the Japanese people with this expansion into Japan, so I hope they do their best to stay like this. I support them as an American hamburger chain.

(Translated by Google) I ordered the limited time Chili Gree Beef Burger Set. It's expensive at 1,190 yen, but you have to try it at least once. As with any chain, the actual product doesn't have the same volume as the poster. There's plenty of cheese, the chili sauce is just a little tangy, and the buns are juicy and delicious, but for me, one serving is probably enough.
