Tetsugakudo Park is a riverside garden in Tokyo, founded by philosopher Enryo Inoue in 1909. The park features 77 statues and pavilions representing philosophical concepts from around the world. It's a unique Japanese garden with a focus on symbolism, making it a dense and intriguing experience for visitors. In spring, the park is adorned with beautiful cherry blossoms.
Very nice park. The theme of the whole place is philosophy (it was created by the philosopher Inoue Enryō). You can find statues of popular figures in philosophy, history and religion. It’s pretty big and has many areas to visit, so it’s a nice plan for a day, just walk around the entire park. It’s beautiful and well preserved. You can park your bike at the entrance. Free entrance.

I love going to this park to see the fish and the ducks...very peaceful place.
Hercules W — Google review
A park dedicated to great philosophers. I love the funky statues of great people from the past brought back to life by Mamou's cloning technology. Gandhi is really well made. The only "Disneyland of Philosophy" in the world, which can only be found here. It's perfect for debating with debaters while being watched over by the statues of philosophers. Squeeze as much as you can from every corner of your mind.

Beautiful quiet and relaxing classic Japanese park in Nakano city.
Leddy R — Google review
Me and my wife visited in this beautiful place last weekend. It has lots of old sculpture which is very rare to see in a open park in Tokyo. Moreover there are lots of old style houses in this area which brings us a thought that how beautiful and simple life was in Tokyo... Note: We could not get out because all the doors to get out were closed. It was supposed to close at 5 pm but all of the gates closed earlier. We were freaking out. we were shouting in fear in the door but nobody even came at us. After 20 minutes an old man helped us to get out of the park by telling us the direction of the next-door sports zone. I don't know what would have happened if the man did not come on that day.
Supran J — Google review
It's a good place to spend time with your friends and family. There are lot of beautiful trees and lot of old buildings. There are beautiful places to take photographs. I went there in the beginning of sprint season. There is a beautiful water stream too.
Malith R — Google review
Beautiful park and great place for a stroll. The cherry blossoms are stunning in Spring. There are benches throughout the park, so you can sit and relax.

Nestled just a short stroll from Nakano Station, Nakano Shiki no Mori Park is a charming urban oasis that beckons visitors to unwind and enjoy the outdoors. This compact park is an ideal spot for picnicking, especially with nearby food vendors offering delicious street food options. While it may not be the most picturesque park in the area, its inviting atmosphere makes it a lovely place to savor your bento or grab a coffee at J, a cozy eatery on-site.
Lovely small open area park. Very kid friendly. Lots of seating area. Seems very dog on leash friendly. There is a Starbucks, a McDonalds and 2 Lawson convenience stores all facing the side of the park. It's a 5 minute walk from Nakano station. Lovely place to chill out.
Harro — Google review
Perfect place for events and picnics, but I do wish there was more nature... maybe some trees to block off the busy road from view would be nice. Especially in winter, but in summer too, it's a slightly sad looking park. Too much flat grass and no nice plants.
Hercules W — Google review
There was a Hawaiian festival with food trucks. Really nice.

Nice place to hang out. Get your own BBQ. Bring your own tarp since there is no place to sit on the grass. Some of it is overgrown. Also bring bugspray, you will get bit.

Araiyakushi Baishouin is a historic temple in Nakano, founded in 1586. It is known for its supposed healing powers for eye ailments and general health issues. The temple is conveniently located near Nakano Station, just a short walk away, making it easily accessible for visitors. Throughout the year, the temple hosts frequent markets and during springtime, the area comes alive with beautiful cherry blossoms.
Lovely, serene place - a secret gem in Nakano City.

Numabukuro Hikawa Shrine is a magnificent Shinto site located in an urban cedar forest. This shrine showcases impressive carvings and altars that honor the Seven Gods of Good Fortune. The shrine is situated at the north exit of Numabukuro Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line, just 200m away from Shinjuku. It features a beautiful ball gravel pathway and boasts an immaculate environment free from trash or other pollutants.
This is my favorite temple to explore in Nakano! I went on a weekday and it was so peaceful and tranquil with minimal amount of tourist as it is in a queit Japanese neighborhood. The tranquil atmosphere, relaxing atmospheric music, nice balance of nature and modern allowed me to sit down and be in my zen. Highly recommend visiting this temple off the beaten path and don't forget to getn your goshuin stamp and see the sign where it mentions that this temple was in an anime!

Tokyo revengers shrine!
PsiHamster — Google review
(Translated by Google) This shrine has an appealing, calming atmosphere. The approach to the shrine is filled with greenery, and it's pleasant to feel the natural surroundings. Once you pass through the torii gate, a sense of tranquility spreads, and just praying there calms the mind. The grounds are well-kept and very beautiful, and it's a recommended place to stop by on a walk. Some people say it's cramped if you go by car, but personally I don't think that's the case. There is also a second parking lot, so it's well-maintained. It seems to be famous as one of the sacred places of Tokyo Revengers, as it appears in the series. Merchandise was also on sale.

(Translated by Google) I happened to see on social media that this place is associated with Demon Slayer character Giyu Tomioka, so I decided to stop by. From the north exit of Numabukuro Station on the Shinjuku Line, with your back to Family Mart, it's about a 5-minute walk to the right. It's almost a straight line. It's also apparently associated with Tokyo Revengers, so you'll find it easily. The grounds are spacious, and there are plenty of amulets and goshuincho (stamp books) at the shrine office. You can bring your own goshuincho (stamp book). You can get one immediately for 500 yen if you ask. Fortune slips cost 100 yen at the entrance to the right of the shrine office. There were about three benches in the area where you tie your fortune slips, so it seemed like a good place to write your wishes on a votive tablet or take a break. The votive tablets also feature Giyu Tomioka and Tokyo Revengers characters, so I think it would be fun just to look at them 😊 (Original)

History Museums
Located near Numabukuro Station, the Yamazaki Memorial Nakano Historical Museum is easily accessible. The museum offers free admission and features a variety of exhibits on its two floors. Visitors can explore special exhibits and a rest area on the first floor, while the second floor houses permanent displays including models of the Nakano Fudoson Hosenji pagoda and Nogata water tower. Additionally, there's a full-size reconstruction of an old Eko Tamura folk house.
(Translated by Google) The Yamazaki clan in the official name is said to be a wealthy local who became independent from the main Tokubei family in 1750 and started a pawn shop and soy sauce brewing business in addition to farming. Mr. Yamazaki (8th generation head of a local old family) donated land to Nakano Ward to preserve and exhibit Nakano's history and folklore, and this museum was built. The museum is relatively compact and consists of two floors. In the permanent exhibition room on the second floor, excavated items, literature, and explanatory boards from the Paleolithic period to the present day are lined up in a circular pattern, making the exhibits very easy to see. Particularly in modern history, I learned for the first time about the existence of the Nogata Water Tower, which was built to meet the demand for water in Tokyo after the Great Kanto Earthquake, and Toyotama Prison (later renamed Nakano Prison, but abolished), where famous literary figures and critics (those who opposed national policy at the time) were imprisoned. Next to the museum, the garden and tea room of the Yamazaki family is open to the public for a limited time, and luckily it was open to the public when we visited. It's a relaxing space surrounded by greenery, and I thought it would be a good idea to stop by just to take a walk around the garden and tea room.

If you wanna feel like you've left Tokyo and are in a small village, there's no better place to do that. It's quiet, it's serene, it's traditional, it's pretty great! No toilets available to the public thought, so...

There are three exhibition rooms: a permanent exhibition room, a special exhibition room, and a special exhibition room. The permanent exhibits didn't have much content that was unique to Nakano Ward, but in addition to the physical exhibits, there were also plenty of video exhibits and it seemed well organized. Outside is the garden and tea room of the donor Yamazaki family, which is open to the public in spring and fall. There are also various cultural artifacts on display along the perimeter of the museum. (Translated by Google) This museum has a relaxing atmosphere in a residential area and admission is free. The permanent exhibition introduces Nakano's topography, agricultural history, and everyday tools, providing insight into the region's origins. The touch panel introducing people associated with Nakano was particularly easy to use, and it was fascinating to encounter a diverse cast of writers, scholars, and artists. Learning about the city's history through these people changes the way you view Nakano's streets. I was also impressed by how clean the restrooms were, demonstrating the attention to detail that goes into making this a public facility. While the exhibits are not large, the digital displays and comfortable facilities make it an easy-to-learn environment for people of all ages. As a place that connects the region's history to the future, it's worth a visit for both local residents and tourists.

Shinto shrine
Nakano Hikawa Shrine, established in 1030 and featuring a main palace from 1477, is renowned as an amulet shrine. The shrine's surroundings are picturesque, with a forested precinct and a pathway adorned with large stone lanterns leading to the main shrine. The site also houses storehouses for festival portable shrines. Visitors can enjoy a serene atmosphere despite its location on Yamate-dori.
It’s beautiful at night time. Quiet and very sacred. It seems many people come here during the day but not a lot during the night. I always get a creepy feeling when visiting shrines at night but this one got a peaceful and calm vibe that I was able to stay a bit. Very convenient since it’s just a little bit of walk from Nakano Sakaue station and it seems in Higashi Nakano station too but I haven’t been there so I can’t really confirm.

The arcade offers a variety of gaming machines and tables, including options like Strania and 2P aircraft.

It’s always sad to see classic arcades they’ve been around close down. Especially when it’s a fan favorite such as Nakano Browdway’s TRF. I’ve been here a few times during my trips to Tokyo and always had a good time. I’ve played Super Street Fighter 2 here so many times. Their final day was this May 18, 2025. You will be missed TRF. Thank you for all the memories.

Buddhist temple
Nestled in the heart of Japan, Jissoin Temple, also known as Yajima Temple, has a rich history dating back to its establishment by Takumi Yajima in 1352 after his defeat in battle. Originally part of Araisan Baishoin Temple, it gained independence and was officially recognized as Jissoin in 1981.
(Translated by Google) The temple is located on the left after walking north for a few minutes along the bus street from Numabukuro Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line. The well-maintained grounds are lovely. I received a stamp (handwritten), and the person who dealt with it spoke to me very politely. There are several temples near Jisso-in, but it is said that they were gathered in this area due to the earthquake or war damage. While I was waiting for my goshuin, I even received a plastic bottle of tea. Only gratitude. Its construction dates back to the Kamakura period, and at one time it was in disrepair, but thanks to the generous efforts of local people it was rebuilt. Although it is a small temple, various cherry blossoms bloom one after another in spring, and hydrangeas are also beautiful during the rainy season. The young chief priest regularly holds lectures on Buddhism and shomyo, as well as music events. (Translated by Google) Visit to receive a hand-written goshuin stamp from Jisso-in, a Shingon sect of Toyoyama school located in Numabukuro, Nakano-ku, Tokyo. According to temple legend, he was a descendant of Saburo Yajima, the third son of Rokurozaemon Masayoshi Nitta, who fought against the Ashikaga army in Musashi Province in 1352 when the Nitta clan followed Imperial Prince Muneyoshi of Shinano Palace and fought against the Ashikaga army in Musashi Province. It is said that Takumi Yajima, who was defeated in battle, came to Numabukuro village with his Yuki family and built a house there. After that, unfortunately, the temple's power declined, and there was a time when it served as a temple for another temple, but in 1982, the new main hall was completed, and it is still here today. By the way, it seems that half of the temple's members still have the surname Yajima, so it is commonly known as ``Yajima Temple''. yeah This temple is one of Teshima's 88 Sacred Sites. When the large cherry blossoms in the precincts are in bloom, they are illuminated in the evening and attract many people. Yamato Rokumei Park is a picturesque recreational area that offers a range of amenities and attractions. This park boasts stunning natural landscapes, including lush greenery, serene ponds, and vibrant floral displays. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along well-maintained pathways or relax on benches strategically placed throughout the park. Sports enthusiasts can make use of the various sports facilities available, such as tennis courts and baseball fields.

The park's name was chosen through a public contest, taking into consideration the wishes of the residents. This park was once a place where local autonomy was in full use. If you look closely at the stones, you can see inscriptions that appear to have been made when the stones were presented to the shogunate by various feudal domains, leading us to imagine that they were originally used for buildings such as Edo Castle. It's quiet because there aren't many children here, probably because there's no play equipment. There are large trees, lots of shade, and a gentle breeze, so I think it's a good place to take a short break. Also, it seems like it's a neighbor who cleans it regularly, so it's clean.
