Grocery store
Albrook Mall is the largest shopping center in Panama, conveniently located near the Albrook Gran Terminal. It offers a wide range of amenities including a hotel, casino, bars, supermarket, and various dining options. The mall boasts spacious passages and stadium-type cinemas with a capacity for 2,500 people. With completely air-conditioned department and brand stores, it also provides 5,000 parking spaces with strict security measures in place.
I love this mall. It was my first time visiting. I was immediately impressed and in love. Lots of huge department stores. Well-known brand name stores. And for a true shopaholic, deals, sales and bargains galore. There is something for everyone (shopping, casino, movies, bowling, grocery, pharmacy, foodie etc al) Lots of walking There was a train but we didn't use it We stayed 5 days and did not get to visit alot of the mall, especially the side with the super 99 store. It's really bustling on Saturdays Nice and calm during the week I'm definitely going back I recommend to anyone who needs retail therapy.
KV J — Google review
This is the largest mall in Central America and it has a lot stores. You have to plan your day properly because you can spend hours there shopping lol. There were a few cheap stores but keep in mind the material might not worth the cost for some items. I got some shorts and I love them.
Tasheika M — Google review
Visiting Albrook Mall in the evening was an unforgettable experience this place is enormous and full of life, even as the sun went down! The energy was electric, with crowds of people taking advantage of the mall’s endless shopping options. I was amazed by the variety, from well known brands to budget friendly local stalls, all offering great deals that made browsing even more exciting. The playful themed sections, like the elephant area, added a fun and unique touch, making it stand out from any other mall. Even in the evening, the sheer size of the place was impressive you could easily spend hours here and still not see everything! Arrive with time to spare! Whether you come in the morning or evening, Albrook Mall is a retail paradise with unbeatable prices. But at night, it takes on a vibrant, bustling atmosphere that makes shopping feel like an adventure. Don’t miss out this is the ultimate spot for great finds and endless exploration!
Gilbert R — Google review
A huge mall with a massive food court. There is a carousel inside. I particularly like that at each entrance there is an animal statue making easy for tour to determine where you are especially when ordering an Uber. Really thoughtful feature.
LaShaun R — Google review
Lots of walking but it is a beautiful mall. I loved the store Stevens. Got some good stuff there.
Toni M — Google review
Nice mall with options for cheap buys and lots of dining options. The animal statues are cool and the mall is easy to get to with the subway. Happened to catch the typical dance right in the middle of it.
Suzana D — Google review
This mall is huge. There are several large food courts, therefore many options. If you drive, make sure to keep track of where you parked your car.

National Parks
Metropolitan Natural Park, established in 1988, is an urban wildlife refuge located just outside the main Panama City area. It offers a variety of easy-to-moderate trails, picnic areas, and dedicated lookout points. As Central America's only protected tropical forest within city limits, it attracts nature enthusiasts and wildlife photographers seeking to capture the diverse flora and fauna.
What a magnificent place right in the middle of Panama. This place is magical ✨️ I love how the rays of the sun gently kissed the plants. The air is clean, crisp, and fresh. Lots of Fauna and Flora. Colorful butterflies. The breathtaking views made this an amazing experience. It costs $2 for locals.
G D — Google review
Metropolitan Natural Park was such a great stop! It’s only $5 to enter, and there are about 5 miles of trails to explore. We did the hike to the scenic overlook — about 3 miles round trip — and it was very family-friendly. It’s uphill, but not too steep or difficult. The views at the top are amazing, with a full panorama of Panama City and the sea dotted with ships waiting to enter the canal. We even saw some monkeys along the way! Highly recommend if you’re looking for an easy nature escape right near the city.
Cara H — Google review
Beautiful park, perfect for some hike. Be aware that when they say moderate to describe the intensity of the trail it really means intense for kids or elders.
Gonzalo ( — Google review
We arrived late - about 1/2 hour before official closing, but were told that we could go on one of the shorter trails if we were back by 5. Lovely walk, hot! But nice observation area at top of trail, and we saw an agouti(?) some turtles, butterflies, spiders, a small scorpion, and lots of cool flora. Go.
Sheila B — Google review
A hike easy enough for the whole family. Various routes that take about 1 - 2hrs to navigate observantly. Steepest part is the final 10mins to get above the canopy where the reward is the view. Can get hot and humid so bring water.
Lana G — Google review
We loved this park and seeing all the animals! Hated seeing the flying cockroaches, but everything else was awesome.
Janice E — Google review
A beautiful place to enjoy nature just 10 minutes from the city. We saw agoutis, butterflies, hummingbirds and turtles.

Seafood market
Fresh food market
Seafood restaurant
Mercado De Marisco Cinta Costera, also known as the fish market, is a seafood haven in Panama City. It features over 70 stalls offering the freshest seafood and provides an opportunity for visitors to handpick their own seafood and have it prepared in the open-air restaurant located above the market hall. The market offers a variety of raw seafood sold by the pound indoors, while outside there are about 20 ceviche and fish stands serving cooked food at affordable prices.
The atmosphere was good. The food was fresh and good. We had a good time. I will come back again.

The different shops have the same menu but we chose Venas Azules in our last visit. Beware! the waiters will suggest dishes that combined many items in the menu so make sure that you understand what you are ordering from the menu. The vibe feels authentic, not luxury. The environment is clean and functional and you can see the fisherman's boats from the other side of the deck. Overall good experience and friendly staff.

I don't like eating with bugs too many biting insects there. I went to a restaurant I will post the picture. This is a place that screws tourists with prices. Lobster was chewy as hell
Karen B — Google review
Not at all the "Must do" thing suggested in blogs. It pales in comparison to fish markets elsewhere in the world. It's relatively small, not very busy and a bit underwhelming and boring. The good thing is foreigners probably don't buy anything, they just go to look, so no one hassles you. You can get food whilst there in the outside, covered restaurants downstairs. Chose wisely. I went to Allison restaurant and it was expensive and not great.
D — Google review
The food was awesome. The right vendor will walk you to the market to pick out your own fresh still alive seafood and cook right there for you. With the garlic butter sauce. They only take cash so bring your money with you. You also get a free margarita or frozen drink of your choice.

This was one of my bucket list fish markets to visit. This market is exceptional with many cevisherias in the same building. If in Panama City, don't miss it.

Fried whole Red snapper with Salsa de Camarones (Shrimp Sauce): sauce has a base of tomato, onion, pepper, and cream or coconut milk for richness. Shrimp, coconut rice, and a coleslaw. Along side is a jugo de passionfruit (blended passionfruit juice). Add Rosa, the best server with the prettiest smile and you have an amazing experience.

If you're gonna eat here go straight to Rosa from la Promesa, with her friendly smile good prices and excellent service, it will not disappoint! I had the pulpo in coconut sauce with a beer, fries and a small ceviche for 13 usd, everything included! Also, you can pay by credit card.

Plaza Simón Bolívar, a historic square in Panama City's Casco Viejo, is a charming spot filled with cafes and restaurants. Renamed in 1883 to honor the independence hero Simon Bolivar, it offers a bohemian nightlife with live music and dancing at venues like La Casona and Relic Bar. The plaza is surrounded by historic buildings and outdoor restaurants, making it an ideal place for people-watching.
Beautiful town square with statue of Simon Bolivar, the unifier of Latin America: surrounded by colonial buildings including the Teatro Nacional.

I heard a lot about it but I think the media gave us a different perspective of the Bolivar. The worst thing about it is the neighbourhood behind it which was flooded with water during this time raining condition. There are several restaurants but very expensive too

Seafood market
The Mercado de Mariscos (Seafood Market) is a unique restaurant in Panama City where you can order fresh seafood directly from the fishermen. The market itself has a bustling food scene with many restaurants, but the best experience is to head to the indoor market and order ceviche and fish cooked on the spot.
The fish market was such an interesting experience—seeing the day’s fresh catch and then enjoying a delicious meal right there was a highlight. There are plenty of food options and while the servers can be a bit pushy, they’re respectful if you politely decline. The fresh ceviche was amazing! Definitely a cool and memorable part of our trip.

The food was amazing at the market, but please be aware that there are local vendors that will disturb your meal to sell you things. Upon arrival, all restaurant servers will be trying to encourage you to eat at their restaurant. Restaurante Casablanca offers a delightful dining experience with amazing food and exceptional service. The filet mignon, accompanied by a delectable sauce, bacon, mushrooms, and asparagus, was particularly outstanding. Guests staying in the vicinity were treated to complimentary alcoholic drinks and juices. While some found the hosts less friendly during late hours, the staff including Valentina, Gabriel, and Tamara were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable.
I’m so glad I came across this restaurant on my last day in Panama City. It’s hands down the best place I’ve tried here so far! The prices are reasonable, and both the food and drinks are top-notch. If you’re visiting Panama City, make sure to eat here at least once—you won’t regret it!

This was my first time in Panama, and this was by far one of the best places I visited while I was here. The atmosphere was inviting and unique. The staff were friendly and very attentive. The food was absolutely phenomenal from the start. The appetizers, the main meal, and the desserts were all mouth-wateringly delicious and well thought out. Along with the cocktails, which were well balanced and extremely satisfying from the first sip to the last. I give this place a 10 out of 10 and encourage anyone who visits Panama to make this one of the places you stop and visit while you are here.

Great Location and atmosphere in the heart of Casco Viejo in front of Plaza Bolivar. The restaurant and hotel is a meticulously preserved historic building with charm and friendly staff. The restaurant / bar is well appointed with a flavorful menu - although I was not too thrilled with my seafood linguini, we still had a good time. The T-Bone steak was a nice surprise.

Restaurante Casablanca in Panama is a gem for craft cocktails and great ambiance. The drinks are not only delicious but beautifully presented—from refreshing herb-infused spritzes to a fun skull-shaped surprise! 🍸💀 The bar is vibrant and well-stocked, and the attention to detail really stands out. A perfect stop for a stylish evening in the city.

Fast food restaurant
Carl's Jr. is a popular fast-food chain renowned for its extensive selection of towering burgers and combo meals, along with delectable milkshakes. The restaurant is known for serving generous portions of delicious patties that set it apart from typical franchise hamburgers. Their French fries are also highly enjoyable. Although the jalapeno burger can sometimes be overly moist, the spiciness adds to its overall appeal.
This is third time visiting. I like to eat hamburgers here. Not like a franchise hamburger, the amount is plenty and the patty is delicious. French fries are also delicious. The jalapenos burger was a little watery, so it was uncomfortable to eat, but it was still good to eat spicy.

This is a great place to eat the only bad thing I have to say about it is the slow service and we were the only table, but it’s well located at the “casco histórico” food and drinks were delicious, I just don’t recommend the Tiramisu I didn’t even felt the coffee or the cacao flavors. Day 2

Proximity is everything
For day 2, we bundled attractions like Miraflores Visitor's Center and Miraflores Locks and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 7 hours.

Miraflores Visitor's Center

Visitor center
The Miraflores Visitor's Center is a must-visit attraction near the Panama Canal, offering a fascinating experience for visitors. It features informative museum displays showcasing the history of the canal and provides an opportunity to witness ships passing through the locks from observation decks. Situated close to popular tourist spots like Casco Antiguo and the Causeway, it also boasts being in proximity to one of the world's largest malls.
You’d think that this is just a tourist trap, but it was actually incredible. Definitely stop by if you are in Panama City! The IMAX movie did not disappoint and seeing some ships come in was the cherry on top of a great experience. I would recommend getting tickets online so you don’t have to wait in the line.
Janice E — Google review
The movie tells the Canals history and “how Americans are good” lol. Just do not seat in first row! It’s a great engineering build but it needs more information about how the visit works, like vessels chart or any important information.
Pedro S — Google review
I hope that the present day two-story platform and its observation deck are just temporary, until the renovations to the five-story building next door are done. A call to The visitors Center did not clarify any doubts as the representative told me that this new observation deck may continue as a permanent replacement. The website does not clarify any details either. This is bad news as the building next door had an observation deck on the top floor. That view was fantastic. However this new two-story platform is a big step down as it lacks a roof to protect you from the Sun and rain. On top of that the staircase is too narrow causing foot traffic bottlenecks by the people congregating there. You will have to fight for a good view of the ships passing by especially when there are large crowds. Man what a disappointment from what is to be a great experience. I did not visit the theater this time around but I do recall having a good experience previously. The staff is well trained and helpful. Parking lot is spacious. This is the most famous canal in the world. So not surprisingly it is the country's most popular tourist attraction. So despite the disappointing platform this place remains a must-see for everyone
Panama G — Google review
Amazing experience at the center. I would recommend to go from 3:30-4pm onwards as it was very packed when we came. At 5pm we were almost alone and there were many boats passing by. We loved the speakers commenting on the boat passing.
Joanie — Google review
We visited the Miraflores Visitor Center and had a great experience! We bought the basic tickets online ahead of time for $17, which were valid for the whole day (no time slot needed). That got us access to the observation deck and the IMAX screening — both worth it, and we were there for under two hours total. So glad we purchased tickets in advance because when we arrived right at 8 a.m. there was already a line for people buying on-site, but we got to walk right in. We went straight to the observation deck and got to see two ships moving through the locks — such a cool experience! Definitely recommend going early for the best viewing and smaller crowds.
Cara H — Google review
MUST see …. Close to Panama City center. Worth the 2 hours. Very informative. And pretty inspiring. Aside from physically watching a ship pass thru the locks, there is an excellent 30-minute movie detailing the construction and use of the Panama Canal in 3D. The facility is wheelchair accessible. Although many people, the crowd is manageable.
Bryan S — Google review
I wish I would have known the times of the boats passing through. We missed the morning boats coming from the Pacific. And we would have had to wait 3 more hours to see the first boat coming the other way. I will have to come back another day.
Om D — Google review
Very crowded at 2-4pm. The viewing platform is too small and poorly designed, so it's difficult to see the channel well. All money seems to have been spent on the 3D movie with massive theater instead. The lock on the Atlantic side gives much nicer experience.

Historical landmark
One of the most famous attractions in Panama is the Miraflores Locks, part of the Panama Canal. This engineering marvel opened in 1913 and has had a significant impact on global commerce and weather patterns. The locks use gravity to move ships between the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, with 14,000 ships passing through annually. Visitors can witness this impressive feat at the Miraflores Visitor Center, where they can observe ships being raised or lowered as water levels are adjusted.
What a cool experience! It was so interesting and fun to visit this amazing and unique project! We enjoyed watching the passing through of server ships and the IMAX movie about the canal was great and very educational! We loved it!

The canal is the pride of our country and this display does some justice to the engineering masterpiece that the canal truly is. The video presentation with Morgan Freeman is very educational as well as uplifting about the nation as a whole. The viewing center is also very nice you can see ships passing thorough this older lock and see massive vessels up very close. For little ones there is a nice covered playground to keep them from getting too restless.
Roderick B — Google review
Amazing place and story. Brilliant IMAX documentary movie. Time your visit such that you can watch the Morgan Freeman narrated movie at around 1, so you can see a ship passing through at around 2-4 (typical hour).
Tarun Y — Google review
Loved my visit. Beware that most ships pass earlier in the morning or around 2pm in the afternoon. If you arrive around noon (like I did last, you'll have to wait a bit). There is a movie narrated by Morgan Freeman and is a must-watch. It teaches you all about the history of the Panama Canal. There are also plenty of food options, I got popcorn for the movie ($3), and an iced coffee. They were both really good. I would give it 5 stars if I could have found better information of ship passage timings. I searched their website and couldn't find anything about it.
Stephanie S — Google review
Very interesting, depends on time you are there. Many ships passing through at certain times. IMAX is good but could be a bit better. The Miraflores is on the old canal but still very busy. You can also see huge ships going to the new canal but from distance. I would expect a museum with all principal explanation but there is none. It is very money focused there.
Jan M — Google review
Awesome experience. Impressed by the pilot boats thst guided our ship. Amazing how the locks work.
Luci H — Google review
Well worth a visit! Very interesting to see the locks in action. The IMAX movie is also very good. Have a look at the schedule for the lock, or you might not see any ships.
Kai S — Google review
Traveling through the Panama canal is something one must experience. I loved the beautiful landscapes and the experience of traveling through the locks is definitely one to put on bucket list

Shopping mall
Shopping
Centro Comercial El Dorado is a no-frills mall that offers a variety of stores for electronics, phone accessories, and souvenirs. It has undergone several renovations and now features small shops, a department store, supermarkets, cinemas, and even a bowling alley. Located near Panama City's newer Chinatowns, it also boasts restaurants and shops. The mall is known for its competitive prices on cell phones and accessories.
Sometime ago I made a review to this place and it was average, but with the new image and improvements, the mall has become excellent. They host events that promote culture as well and I liked it. Besides the stores offer good stuffs and the service has improved quite a bit. The chance is doing great so far. Keep it up!!
Yesenia Q — Google review
My first time at this event. And it was an experience full of food, fun, and familiy .
David G — Google review
This is the place for the best prices in cell phones and accessories. So many stores competing with each other. The second floor is half empty and looks to specialize in hair salons. The third floor is a movie theater. The sub level is a food court along with post office. Even after construction to evolve, it still cannot compete with the newer malls in terms of quantity. However, this place has a few advantages over them. There is a store that duplicates specialized car keys, a post office, two casinos outside, two supermarkets and cell phone stores with talented technicians. They did amazing work on my phone. But the main advantage it has is its location in a historically busy area. Unlike other malls situated in secluded areas, this one is surrounded by plazas and businesses within walking distance. Right outside you will find top bakeries, casinos, specialty stores, and restaurants that have made this area legendary. The mall is located in the area referred to as the second Chinatown as evidenced by Asian establishments outside, especially in the rear areas of the mall.
Panama G — Google review
Decent mall with a lot of cell phone shops.
Jason B — Google review
It's definitely improved after renovations, but pretty much every other store is a cheap electronics store
Enrique B — Google review
You can find a relaxed place to get drinks, check gadgets, or get a book. The food court is good, not expensive, or fancy.
Moose K — Google review
This is a good mall for the following: - cheap electronics (cellphones and tablets) - cheap, quick electronics repair - craft stores (2) - fabric (3+) - nerd/geek shirts - clothes from stores not found in more popular malls - chinese grocery stores - Panama souvenirs (Centro Oriental, Gran Morrison, Saks) I'd describe as a no frills atmosphere. Real Panamanian families here doing their shopping. I don't rate it higher because you have to pay for parking (1hr free) and traffic around the area is always very congested. But i go there frequently and enjoy it.
Dori T — Google review
Great place to go if you need anything cell phone. Also a good place to take electronics for repairs. I also noticed a few Chinese grocery places in there. I had to ask for help finding a location and the security guards were friendly and helpful.

Fast food restaurant
Taco Bell | El Dorado is a popular fast-food spot known for its Mexican-inspired menu featuring tacos, quesadillas, and nachos. While some customers praise the good food at affordable prices, others have noted that the service can be slow at times.
Typical taco bell, good food (in my opinion) at a great price. Service was slow, so I'll take away one star
Eduardo G — Google review
They take WAYYY too long to take your order and way longer to give you the food. The place is always filthy and messy. Do not recommend it
Kadmus — Google review
Filthy location. Horrible customer service. The food made me sick. Avoid at all costs.
Rarity P — Google review
Bad experience. Terrible customer service. Unless you know exactly what you are taking, or you have no other options for better franchises, you shouldn’t go there. Personnel is not high qualified to fulfill customers basic needs. You may find them away for minutes chatting, no one asks you if you want to order unless you do. The first time I went there, they took too long to get ready a simple order, they did not give me what I asked, it costed me double the price because I was not informed that the very same menu was cheaper if you just say you wanted to include the soda as well, which in my opinion makes no sense, and I should at least have the knowledge of it. personnel is rude, and won’t care if you are standing waiting as if it wasn’t their job. If you ask for supreme French fries there is still the chance you will get too little French fries, but complaining is not going to take you anywhere.
A P — Google review
Fast food restaurant with very slow service. The food is ok, nothing different from other Taco Bell but customer service is terrible. Almost 20 minutes to take our order and every single order was taken with errors. It seems customers knew better the menu options than the personnel. First time on this restaurant and will be the last with so many good options around El Dorado.
Milton S — Google review
Horrible customer service. Worker refused to fill soda from behind the counter even both soda machine was broken. Ordered steak burrito recieved grounded beef when i clearly said steak burrito. Asked the workers about this issue they said the menu has changed and steak is more $. ???? Either they messed my order and won't admit it or they are in process of changing their brand to Taco Loco.
Wei S — Google review
Love taco bell, but taco bell drive through in Panama is awful, the microphone has never worked and they only have one window so you order where you pay, it's ok if its empty but if there is more than one car in the line stay away as you will be there forever.

La Plaza Ciudad del Saber offers a diverse range of dining options, catering to all tastes and dietary preferences. With its open-air setting, patrons can enjoy a delightful atmosphere while indulging in delicious meals. The food court has an offbeat charm and is particularly notable for its impressive selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Additionally, it provides small play areas and both indoor and outdoor seating arrangements for added convenience.
Off the beaten path but really good selection of food even vegetarian, and vegan. Not to mention, it is small play areas and outdoor/indoor seating.

I recently checked out this plaza, and it's a really solid spot! It's got pretty much everything you could want for a quick stop or even a leisurely afternoon. There are a few restaurants if you're looking for a meal, a cool bookstore to browse, and a cozy coffee shop for your caffeine fix. Plus, there's a health store and even a mini-market for any essentials or snacks you might need. One of the best things is the parking – plenty of spots both underneath and on the side, which is super convenient. And no need to worry about the weather, because it's all covered, so you're good to go even if it rains. They even have TVs. It's definitely a go-to if you're ever in the area and need a quick bite or just a nice place to chill.

Restaurant
Restaurante Makoto is a trendy rooftop Japanese restaurant located in Panama City. Owned by Chef Makoto Okuwa, who trained under sushi master Makoto Kumazaki, the restaurant offers a creative twist on traditional Edomae-Sushi dishes. The menu features innovative recipes like toro tartare, wagyu filet, and hay smoked albacore.
Easily the best dining experience I’ve had—simply EPIC. The ambience was warm and inviting (9/10), and the service was flawless (10/10). The appetizers, featuring grilled octopus and wagyu wontons, were both outstanding (10/10). Our entrées—branzino and skirt steak—were perfectly executed (10/10), and the desserts continued the high standard (10/10). Cocktail options were diverse and well-crafted (9/10), and the servers’ knowledge of the menu was exceptional (10/10). Highly recommend for anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience.

Only speaking about the sashimi and sushi platters for 50 USD. Best sushi placec in Panama. A very business, classy place. I came during the weekend. Amazing experience, some of the best sushi I've had (coming from Toronto and Vancouver). Very fresh and flavour packed. I think I liked the sashimi better for taste but the nigiri fills you up more (it comes with a salmon roll too). Expensive but worth trying if you like high quality sushi.
Jeff C — Google review
What a delicious experience, dining at Makoto. It's perfect for a romantic dinner date. We tried a variety of dishes, and will soon return for more! We ordered the truffle salmon, rainbow roll maki, the spicy yellowtail with japaleno maki, the yellowtail and oh-toro nigiris, and the shortrib yaki noodles. All the dishes were insane, the fish felt fresh and the cuts were perfect, and the shortrib noodles incredily flavorful. For dessert, we ordered the baked alaska, which was good, and the petit gateau, which blew us away - the dulce de leche filling was sweet but not overwhelming, and the flavors played wonderfully together. The service was also lovely, friendly and knowledgeable.

We sat on the patio with a great view of the city, and the atmosphere was really relaxing. The sushi was fresh and tasted amazing—definitely a place we’d come back to.

Makoto was fantastic! We celebrated my fiancé’s birthday here after receiving a recommendation from a fellow traveler. It was well worth it! The views were amazing especially at night the sky line was truly breathtaking. The food was really tasty as well, the drinks and atmosphere were well curated. The price was a bit dear, as I expected the food to taste just a little bit better. If you go the rock shrimp was a must have.

Had a fantastic time at Makoto, the staff is very welcoming and the food is amazing. I especially recommend the spicy edamame and for dessert the chocolate mousse.
Sarah — Google review
The restaurant, food, service and atmosphere are special and beautiful. A spectacular experience!! If you are looking for traditional sashimi and sushi in Panamá, this is the place—no other. The management team are some of the finest in the region, and they will work together with you to create a unique, memorable happening. Makoto is a magical discovery. Salmon sashimi, beef robata , hamachi nigiri and crispy Brussels sprouts are only a few of their items that may be described as the finest in the area. Sit at the sushi bar for a fun show with experienced chefs, or a table in the lounge or outside on the 11th floor patio. The chu-toro, ikura, shima aji and tamago are all top notch. Sake and beer were frigid cold and they have a special wine cellar, too. This is too good to be true. Heavenly! If you enjoy excellent Japanese food and drink in an amazing atmosphere, you will not be disappointed. The service, kitchen staff, cooks and chefs are exceptional. Highly, highly, highly recommended.

Additionally, it hosts regular activities such as free concerts and art shows during summertime.
Nestled in the city is a spectacular park. Football courts, a full gym, basketball courts, run and walking trails. This huge park has everything you would want in an inner city park. We walk the entire paved trail and even stopped along the way for a fresh sliced fruit bowl.

It is a beautiful park!!! Back in time, it used to be a golf course in the middle of the city but it was given to the city to convert it into the park! Horrible, stay away! It used to be more of an upscale mall that never really had success, so to go to the theater there you would feel like you were walking through a nice looking ghost town, but now, it’s as if it has been taken over by squatters. Loud music fills the mall since people are coming for the cheaper no name stores and eateries that have opened probably in a last ditch effort to save it. Ridiculous. There are much better options around.

This was one of the best sushi places that I have been to. The rolls were very large, one of the largest I have had. The fish was GREAT quality which is always a plus and there was a variety of different food. The menu was cool to look through. It was in the form of a magazine. I didn't expect that much just because it was in a mall which was very empty at the time we arrived but I was happily surprised. We had the salmon sushi pizza, then two large rolls, Pad Thai, and a soup. It was plenty of food and all of the rolls were fantastic. The food was all really good and we were able to sit in the section outside. The weather was perfect and the views of the city were fantastic. We went Sunday night so it felt like we were the only ones there beside another table that was far away. They had seats at the bar, indoors, outdoors, and had lounge chairs to suit anyones needs. The place was a little tough to find in the mall as its located on the 2nd floor and it was slightly tough to find from the car park. There was parking located downstairs and I'm assuming you have to pay to park, however the machines were broken when we came so we didn't have to pay.

Azahar Panama is a renowned restaurant and speakeasy bar in Panama City, offering a diverse menu that includes sushi, seafood, steaks, and pizza. The upscale dining experience combines local flavors with Asian influences and features an impressive waterfront terrace with ocean views. The restaurant prides itself on its innovative approach to gastronomy, constantly introducing fresh ingredients and culinary ideas.
Details on Google showed that this was a family friendly restaurant with high chairs available. When my wife and kid arrived, it was clearly a more upscale speakeasy restaurant. My fault for not researching more. Regardless the staff were very friendly and welcoming even with my kid. Got the following: Drinks - Apple Mule - Azahar Spritz 2.0 Appetizer - Escargot Mains - Filet Mignon - Branzino Everything was amazing! Great cocktails. The escargot was cooked with mushrooms and served with toast. Earthy and delicious. The Filet Mignon was the most tender cut I’ve ever had! The whole branzino fish was the best. The avocado risotto it came with was so creamy and delicious! This place is perfect for a date/night out, or if you dare to bring your kid along apparently!

Our experience was wonderful. The atmosphere was romantic, and beautiful. We sat outside and the views were breathtaking. The food was out of this world and the presentation was like art. We had the seabass and the short ribs and both were exploding with flavor. The apple pie looked like art, it was so unique, and delicious. It's a must try! Our server Billi was attentive, helpful, and very pleasant. 10/10 recommend this place.

Wow, I had a phenomenal lunch here today. Its a bit of a speakeasy so I had no idea my place was so close to such a great restaurant. Once you find it, you walk into a very beautiful dining space. Service was immaculate. The food was some of the best I've eaten in months. The menu was really creative, creating a fusion of asian and European flavors with central American ingredients. I don't particularly care for sweets but even the desserts were life changing. A must visit!

You can only do one thing when a restaurant is recommended by everyone you encounter….gooooo! And enjoy it for yourself! The atmosphere is a tad bit whimsical for my taste…Moet bottles, garlands of lights, gift wrapping and boxing for florals, and an electric violinist. No worries, as the food takes the spotlight here and it’s nothing short of amazing! Not one piece of bread or seasoned butter was left behind nor did that perfectly medium well skirt steak stand a chance once I tasted it! The Chilean sea bass ceviche was delicious & paired quite well with its sweet potato mixture. The cocktails were carefully crafted by a team of mixologists behind the bar, as was the sushi by the team (8-9) at the sushi bar. No room for dessert though🙃 Great 1st night in town option! I would definitely return on my next trip to Panama!
Mignon B — Google review
We had dinner and it was very nice. The bread service consisted of buttery popovers that melted in your mouth. Cocktails were delicious and our waiter, Luis, had great wine pairing suggestions for the meal. We tried some sushi rolls & the crudo which were both great. Service was excellent The only ‘miss’ was the beef Wellington since the puff pastry seemed very tough and not flaky. I was offered a choice of knives to cut into my beef Wellington & I struggled to cut it. Either the knife was very dull or the beef was on the tough side despite being cooked medium in doneness.

The place is lovely, we sat outside the night city view is breathtaking! They server bread on this very interesting presentation we enjoyed it, we had sushi mostly and it’d say it was good for the price however the dessert!! This restaurant is a mix of Japanese and Italian food with awesome taste. You enter the reasturant through a florist shops freezer door. It has a mix of inside seating, outside seating, and bar seating. The service was prompt and courteous. My group at the complimentary bread to start and then ordered the Mr. Miyagi sushi, Tony Stark sushi, and the Pork Belly. All food was great and taste wonderful. After dinner we indulged in the Tres Leche and Aplle Pie desert. They did not disappoint. This was a great speakeasy style entry that was well appilointed on the inside. I would definitely go back again and again.

A must visit! For a family of four (2 kids + 2 adults) we spent $180 for dinner. That’s without dessert and alcohol drinks. We decided on dessert at a cafe at our hotel which had what we wanted. They do NOT have a kid’s menu but they have kid-friendly options. Meals we had: 1. Lamb 2. Short Ribs 3. 2 Grilled chicken breast + French fries (kids) 4 Drinks: 2 Lemonades, 2 Mocktails (hibiscus breeze) 5. Onion soup 6. Lamb Dumpling bites Atmosphere: Absolutely loved the rooftop views and the atmosphere was quite lovely. I think it is fitting for a family or couple. Very romantic. Music wasn’t too loud either. Service: The service was premier. Every server was attentive and often asked how was the meal. They offered to take photos and although didn’t speak English, they did their best to understand and respond. Professional and pleasant. Noteworthy: I enjoyed the booth with the flowers named Madame butterfly. Perfect location for last minute or surprise treat for a date. As tourist that have no knowledge of local vendors, this was an added touch to our experience as My husband was able to purchase roses for both my daughter and I. Also, the bread in the dresser was an impressionable experience. Such a signature stamp that will make us remember our time at Azahar. Suggestion: The only small suggestion I’d make is for the team to take note of special occasions mentioned in bookings. We mentioned we were celebrating our 10th anniversary, huge milestone, and a little gesture—like a candle or ‘Happy Anniversary’ plate would add an extra memorable touch to an already incredible experience. Overall a great experience and our top choice!

Would you like your business to rank first in this list? Would you like a dedicated page where only your business is featured as the top choice? Though slightly expensive, the service and food at Suvlas | Plaza New York are satisfactory. It's worth noting the abundance of branded merchandise they have. I tasted their Pork Yeero burger, which comes with a salad and drink combo.
Food is delicious. Nice place and nice prices
Jaime B — Google review
Slightly overpriced, but service is fine and food is good. Kind of weird the amount of brand merchandise they have. I tried the Pork Yeero burger, combo with salad and drink; burger was fine, pork was not a patty but chunks of vertically cooked (kebab style) pork, keeping the gyro/yeero sensation in a burger shaped food. Burger taste was very good, bun is a little too wide and there is a large portion of the burger without any meat, not too bad but could be improved; the salad was a little disappointing, kind of a coleslaw with purple cabbage but just acceptable as a salad overall
Oscar B — Google review
Ordered a gyro platter, the ammount of beef was minimal, more of a sampler. Beef tasted pretty dried. The mixed salad and tzatziki sauce were ok. "Raspasura" drink was very acidic and sour. Definitely NOT coming back.

Good food for good price ! Nice and clean place, open until 3am.

My first time in this place and I can tell I'll become a regular! Great taste in the gyros (yeeros) that can be served on pita, wrap or Greek bread. You can also eat them in platters with delicious sides. 10 bucks will get you a very good meal + drink. Very clean and modern space.
Ricardo J — Google review
Good costumer service in general, freezing air conditioner makes you feel uncomfortable although the place is well designed , attractive and clean. Menu is hard to read sometimes and understand your options. Nice thing would be to had hot beverages and soups. Plus new dishes to try out.
Wendy R — Google review
I ordered a falafel yeero through Pedidos ya (the app was not helpful at all at the moment). Sadly, the food didn't taste fresh. It tasted like the veggies in it were going bad and that the falafel wasn't properly prepared. :( I don't think I would buy food from there again.
Yesenia Q — Google review
Just okay considering how popular gyros are. You can get disappointed if you've traveled to Europe and tried their gyros. Actually they charge too much for just fast food. La verdad un restaurante del montón a precios exagerados, para un simple combo de comida rápida! No le quita que el puerco está bien sazonado.

American restaurant
If you're in Panama City and craving a vibrant dining experience, look no further than Hard Rock Cafe Panama. This lively eatery combines the spirit of rock ’n’ roll with a menu full of American classics like juicy burgers and tasty cocktails. The cafe is adorned with authentic music memorabilia, creating an eclectic atmosphere that’s perfect for families or friends looking to unwind before hitting the town.
If it weren’t for Fernando, this experience wouldn’t have been so well. He was exceptional. The food was amazing as well. Being alone in a foreign country, speaking very little of the language, with zero cell service, was overwhelming. It wasn’t home, but I was able to find some comfort in the food and in the service.

Stayed in the old hard rock hotel that they sold to megalopolis. The mall there is dead, but they kept their Hard Rock Cafe. It’s what I expected for food and service. My wife’s food was lukewarm pasta. My burger was great. We had to wait a long time for the check as they did not come back to check on us. The server was very friendly and kept giving me thumbs up and smiles. It was a good experience, but not the greatest

Hard Rock Café Panama City Panama: I had no expectations menu prices average in the $20 to $30 dollar range my portion size felt a little small for the price food was delicious beer was cold service was amazing
Otis L — Google review
Came for the shop and drinks. - Location is not nice, terrace is next to big road. - English is not really spoken. Some speak a little, some not at all. - Pint of beer with souvenir glass... they only allow the cheapest beer which means it is cheaper to buy the pint glass in the shop and and then a separate beer. I pointed this out and the server subsequently suggested I go buy the pint glass in the shop and then he could put beer in it... he was serious about this... - Slow service so for a drink, plan at least 1 hour. We had no food so cannot say how long that would take. There has to be one HRC which is the worst, maybe we found it after visiting HRCs in mamy countries...
Fredrik A — Google review
I couldn't feel the Hard Rock vibe in Panama's restaurant. Perhaps, because of the hour (13h30 - 14h00). I wanted to try delicious meals, but I got disappointed when I tasted the Messi hamburguer. Even the other plates were too basic.

Very well received at the door. Everyone had smiles. Our waitress was very helpful, her English was very good. Unfortunately I can't remember her name. Maybe Miss Milagros. Lively experience.
Danny F — Google review
There could have been a wider array of food offered on the menu. I felt limited in choices. However I had a 10/10 experience with friendly staff.
Jeanel L — Google review
The cafe moved to Megapolis Mall since the hotel was bought by a different company. They only have two or three pieces of memorabilia displayed. There's no draft beer, and the bartenders were friendly but couldn't speak English. We collect the souvenir glass, and that was a bit frustrating to explain to a non-English-speaking server, even with a translator app. The nachos were bland, and we had to pay extra for sour cream and guacamole to be added to them. There are 3 restrooms, and I couldn't distinguish which gender each restroom was for. Fortunately, no one came inside while I used it since I wasn't sure if I was in the right bathroom. It's old, not very clean, and has no paper towels to wipe your hands with. If you are a collector like us, just buy the glass at their small gift shop and don't bother to dine in.

Very good food, but quite expensive. Real good, real Italian pizza. And good Cesar salad. Tiramisu is also nice. And the kids loved the warm Nutella cake with ice cream 😁 Prizes are quite high though. But I guess we’ll come back again as the kids loved it and decoration is creative and staff is nice.

For day 4, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like AltaPlaza Mall. Not quite as popular as Cinta Costera, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Shopping
AltaPlaza Mall is a modern retail destination in Panama City, conveniently situated on the Via Centenario near the Technological University. Boasting an array of international brands, this newly opened mall offers upscale stores, a multiplex cinema, and over 30 dining options. Visitors can also enjoy the convenience of a supermarket and various services such as 24-hour security, paramedic assistance, wheelchair service, valet parking, free Wi-Fi, and an information center.
This is my favorite mall for one specific reason: there are plenty of public seats. It is the most considerate mall in that regard. Here you will find more seats to rest than at any other mall. And I am not talking about inside the restaurants. Instead, I am talking about public seats in the common areas. I understand that the lack of public seats in other malls is a strategy to get customers to patronize the eateries and restaurants. But I have to salute this mall for their consideration. Each mall has its own feel. Compared to others, this place is smaller so it feels slightly more comfortable. In no way does that cheapen it at all, though. It is certainly a luxurious place. They have the most beautiful center court. Located right in the center of the mall, it is round and you have the most amazing view when looking down from the top floor. The design team makes full use of the space, creating beautiful displays for special occasions. The food court is on the 3rd floor. The arrangements of the eateries and seating area is beautiful. One side of it comprises of large windows so there is plenty of daylight. Most of the stores are in the middle range with regard to prices.

Nice mall that had treats and was open on Good Friday. We watched a movie at the cinema and walked back through the mall where kids played downstairs later in the evening.
Justin H — Google review
AltaPlaza Mall is my second-favorite mall in Panama, super spacious, pristine, and far more peaceful than Albrook. I pay attention to details, I noticed AltaPlaza appeared more maintained as the tiles were not dated like AlBrook. The food court was spotless, and although the Popeyes didn’t live up to expectations, the Gelatiamo café at the end was absolutely amazing—creamy gelato, tasty pizzas, and attentive staff . We shopped at Stevens (akin to America’s Macy’s or Marshall’s) and Poppy’s, which felt like a Panamanian Janie & Jack. Kids had a blast at Crazy Park, and we even tried Bowland which was a premier experience. We also did the Go Karting activity. Pricey for a few short minutes. Paid like $38 for 10 minutes. Way too much in my opinion. There’s lots of kid & family-friendly fun at this mall. AltaPlaza stands out to me though for its clean maintenance, modern flooring, free parking and kid-friendly zones, qualities that truly elevate the experience over busier alternatives.
Lathyra R — Google review
We found this mall by browsing for malls in Panama. We arrived there just a little after opening so there were not very many people there and the restaurants were not open just yet. This mall is very nice, has a good variety of stores, it has plenty of restaurants and a grocery store as well.
Sherri P — Google review
Love it!!!! Great experience 👍 Shout out to the security people in bicycles outside the mall, always willing to communicate and direct u to where u need to go around the mall. Nice restaurants, stores, glad R/S is there, (best supermarket in Panama) and good environment all over the mall. Love to visit!
Ivanett C — Google review
A must place for the tourist due to the security, closeness to what is normal for the tradition USA visitor as well as the selections available for food stuff at Reys and/or resupply because outside Panama City, the creature comforts may drastically decrease. Keep up with the cleanness for the Mall Owners.

The church features beautiful mosaics and offers mass services throughout the week, with multiple Sunday services available. Visitors praise the spiritual atmosphere and dedicated priests, making it a must-visit whether you're Catholic or simply appreciate architectural beauty. Despite its location in a bustling area, the church provides a peaceful retreat and ample parking for visitors.
Beautiful historic church in Panama City. I visited the Sunday after Pope Francis passed over.

This is a beautiful place, inside and out. The architecture is quite a contrast to the skyscrapers in the area. There is only one way in that we could see. A quiet respite in a very busy traffic area. Lots of parking should anyone need it - although I'm not sure that would be the case when they are holding services.

The National Theatre in Panama, located in the Casco Viejo, is a stunning cultural landmark with a rich history. Originally built as a convent in 1673 and later transformed into a theater, it underwent extensive renovations and updates to preserve its historical significance. The Neoclassical interior features opulent red and gold décor, French crystal chandeliers, and busts of famous dramatists.
A beautiful and historic theater. Going to see a play or other performce is surely a must-see item on your next trip to Panama. The play performance we saw was amazing and the venue is stunning. Go see a show at the National Theatre of Panamá.

Small and cosy theater with all side seatings arranged in boxes for the dance performance of Giselle. It is a neat place, with good access to amenities. Buying tickets in advance on the web saves a lot of hassle of queuing up and waiting in line
Michel P — Google review
How much you enjoy the teatro nacional will depend on your expectation. Panama City does not have a fine arts culture, not yet. There is no better illustration of this than its national theater having walls poorly wallpapered to look like pink marble. There is no orchestra pit. I assume the music for its upcoming production of Swan Lake will be electronically pumped through speakers? I could go on, but there is also a lot of good here. The performance of Cristo Quijote Tratado was excellent. The people working at the theater were kind to me even though I struggle with Spanish and often have to use my phone to translate. I am very glad that I visited here and I encourage you to do the same if there is a performance happening that you are interested in. Just keep in mind that this is not Theatre national de Chaillot or the Royal National Theater.

Panamá Viejo, founded in 1519, is an archaeological site that includes a museum and a bell observation tower. The city's main thoroughfare, Avenida Central, connects Casco Viejo and El Cangrejo. It changes its name to Via España as it continues through downtown districts and residential neighborhoods.
Another stop on our Panama Cruise aboard the Emerald Princess was a multi stop at Colon, where we got off the ship and took an all day tour to the Old Panama City bus tour which included a tour through modern Panama and dropped us off back at the port of Colon to get back on the boat. The tour was long, there was a good amount of driving but it was so worth it. The city was founded back in the 1500s and it's amazing to look at the coastline of the modern city across the way.
B B — Google review
Historical site, definitely enjoyable, you can have a nice view of the city from the top of the tower. It’s a bit of walk inside but they provide transportation from the entrance to the center. Although, for the price they charge, there isn’t much more than just ruins of stone buildings. The museum is decent but not extraordinary.

Had a awesome day in Panama City, Panama the last two days. Yesterday was a quiet day in the city as it was the Day for the Dead, a very somber day, unlike Mexico's celebration. Today and tomorrow is celebration for Independence and they had 35 marching bands on a 5 kilometer parade route. The people here are so nice and so proud of their country, you can feel it is the air. Definitely a place that would be nice to spend a week here sometime. 🙂🙂🙂

Food could be way better, they have regional/local food, but the quality of the food could be better. If you are in a hurry because you just have few hours before your next airplane, it could be a good option. Otherwise I'll say go to the Mercado de mariscos.

The place was really cool. Filled with Diablo decorations and lights. The staff was really friendly and service was great. We ordered the pollo platter, hamburger and ceviche. The chicken was just “okay”. For the price tag you’d expect better. The burger was solid. Very juicy and tasteful. BUT the ceviche was 10/10! Very fresh and flavorful. The drinks were also great we had the pina coladas and they’re 8/10. We would come back but only for drinks and ceviche.

I am a tourist visiting Panama City for the first time. On September 24, 2025, my sister and I took a city tour, during which we were recommended to try Diablicos, a restaurant serving traditional Panamanian food in Casco Viejo. I must mention that the service was disappointing at every level, starting with the waiter who wore a floral guayabera shirt. He was neither friendly nor attentive. The food also did not meet our expectations. I ordered a ropa vieja, and my sister chose a sancocho. The ropa vieja was served with a sweet rice mixed with beans, which was unpleasant. After we received our food, the waiter did not check back on us, but when it was time to pay, he eagerly asked if we wanted to include the tip on the credit card. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Ana G — Google review
I gave them four stars overall simply because the interior with all of the devil and creepy creature statues is pretty phenomenal. We ordered items from the menu but neither of us got what we ordered. It was somewhat rectified, but it's not entirely. The place was not very crowded on a Sunday afternoon, but our server rarity came to see if things were okay. I had to go chase someone down for assistance.

Beyond delicious. The palate is satisfied best location I had tried in Panama. Besides the Mercado de Pescado this comes in second place. The food was beyond satisfactory. The Staff is very attentive. Food is a 10/10 if you like menudo you will love rhe Mondongo. Now if you don't want that my husband tried the Lomo en Crema de Coco with Pina and he loved it. Look everyone recommends Sabor Panama if you want to waste a meal go but it is not work the price or food. Its over Americanized. If you come to another country let your palate try what is hasn't been exposed to. Very delicious at Diabolicos. We also tried the Empanadas de Chorizo. We will be back later for a show at 730pm. Try this over Sabor Panama, EVERYONE recommended it and sorry not worth it and overpriced.

Donde José is a 12-seat tasting menu restaurant located in Casco Viejo, Panama City. Chef Jose Olmedo Carles showcases the country's biodiversity by using native ingredients like sand crabs, chayote, and nampi. The restaurant offers an experimental dining experience with lesser-known ingredients presented in unique plating formats. Each dish is named based on local experiences, folklore, and the chef's imagination.
The absolute best restaurant I've ever been to. This is a tasting restaurant, where Chef José tells a story through Panamanian cuisine. Your taste buds will be tantalized and the story is often changed. Reservations are required, there are only 32 people seated per day.

One of the best meals of my life. I'm a serious foodie. A tad hard to find, especially if you try to prelocate it. It's the wedgey shaped yellow building. First I've read some other reviews. Yes, it's dark elegant and modern. They also serve the courses in close secession. I never felt rushed or any thing. Also, the portions are quite small, so if they didn't keep bringing food you'd start to go hungry. I wouldn't bring a date here unless you're both foodies and deep into a relationship. I felt the place was not only an excellent presentation of the flavors and tastes of Panama, but a vision for the future of the country. Technically proficient and taking it's inspiration from the whole world but remaining true to it's roots. There was a blend of comfort and elegance that I've never seen duplicated anywhere. Every single dish was a on point. The scharma beef tongue was amazing. Not afraid of smoke and spice flavors, but never going overboard either. This is like going to a concert for food. I think I sampled at least 3 things I've never tried before. It's a good 2 hour meal to me. I wandered over to his other place Lo Que Hay a few days later and was equally impressed. Great food, great staff, great service. We were lucky to get a table and had a fantastic evening. They have two sittings and we're in the earlier option, but didn't feel rushed or pressed to leave. The menu was different but we really enjoyed it, get the pre dinner cocktail and the wine tasting pairings.

I am sorry, but it's fu**ing delicious! We are right now here for new year's Eve. The restaurant has like 4Table and a Chef's table. I have no words. All taste so intense and just amazing! Thanks for this experience!

No signage on the outside of the restaurant, a cozy interior with only 5 tables (11 pax = full house for our seating). Restaurant has 2 seatings each night (7pm and 9:30pm). Prepayment required to reserve seat. Creative menu with discretise description. Well thought ingredients using local ingredients and touches if exotic international flavours. Wine menu is rather limited. Pairing option is available at $65. Book early.

To be honest I was expecting Donde Jose to be good, not great, but I do stand corrected. This place really is worth the hype. The food is extremely innovative and showcases the rich and diverse history of Panamá. I really enjoyed the "journey" the dishes take you on. I could really tell the chef and staff take a lot of pride in Panamaian cuisine and developing the story behind each dish. The food was both unique and extremely tasty. Some of the highlights included sashimi with a passion fruit shooter, squash ceviche, and chicken and rice. Dessert was also awesome, the highlight being coffee with my grandpa, which is this creative, fun play on coffee and cheesecake. I rate this 4 not 5 stars only because I wish they had less sea food. I don't love fish and Panamanian food can be fish/seafood heavy. Also in the chicken and rice dish the chicken was hard to eat. I used my hands like the waitress suggested but it was still a little harder than I'd like. Not a huge deal, but that's my rationale for 4 stars. Anyways definitely check out this restaurant if you're visiting Panamá City.

Everything about this place was excellent - 6 star review!!! The staff were so welcoming and knowledgeable and really added to the relaxed ambience. The music was a great addition and really helped make the evening so memorable. The cocktails were off the scale amazing and the food was both delicious and creative. So worth a visit if you can get a table.

Good quality tastes, too little wine and too little food. Not for a celebratory occasion. We were there on New Year's Eve 2016/17. The location is nice and intimate with only 18 seats. The quality of the food is really good. We got a 10 course menu. Each course is a story. We had 4 entrees, 4 savouries then 2 desserts. We decided to go for the wine pairing. It worked out at 200USD per person. The meal started at 09:00 pm and ended at about 11:45pm. The reason I am only giving 3 stars is due to the following problems, in order of significance: - The wine pairing was tiny, I asked for a top up on 2 occasions as sometimes the wine was supposed to last 2 or 3 courses. - The courses, even for a tasting menu, were too small. I have eaten in star restaurants and had many tasting menus - these portions (with one exception) were simply too small. The small portions and small wine servings means you are actually sitting around a lot of the time with nothing to do, not even sip your wine as it has all gone. - Lastly there was nothing special done for New Year's eve which resulted on us being on the street at 11:50pm with no plans or nothing to do. The last 30 minutes of service were rushed as staff clearly wanted to get on to their evening plans.

Great coffeeshop. Had lunch here, it was a really nice time. I enjoyed my meal. This happened to be my first meal in Panama City and I have to say, it was an excellent selection. Everything was great. Outdoor seating was the only available option and it was a great option. I highly recommend.

The food is great as usual! We come here a few times a month My kid loves the croissants here. I like the schnitzel as sèen in the photo. They habe both Spanish amd English menus. There are two paid parking lots next to the restaurant and the Iglesia del Carmen metro station is at the end of the street.

Coffee Max Restaurant is a very reasonably priced restaurant that offers a variety of different food items where everyone can find something interesting to eat or drink. I ate there many times. They have great cappuccinos plus a broad choice of other drinks on their menu, and it is a great place for people watching because it's located in the business district. The staff is extremely friendly and patient and they have excellent customer service! They also have menus in English if you require one. I would definitely recommend coffee Max no matter what time of day or night that you choose to visit also they play a variety of pop and reggae music... and the occasional soccer game. 👍😃

I went to Doraditos Rosticería Y Pizzería with a friend around 9:30pm for some late-night food and I was not disappointed. The options were very affordable and we had plenty of food for only $5, especially the popular pollo dish. Although the seating was limited, people were constantly coming in and out, making room. The restaurant also had bathrooms on site. The open area concept was cool and it seemed to be a family-friendly spot.
One of my favorite Pollo Asado in Panama, from Personal experience. Always soo juicy. Tasty. Definetly a go to spot in Chanis Panama.

Biomuseo, designed by the renowned architect Frank Gehry, is a whimsical museum structure in Panama City that celebrates the country's rich biodiversity. The museum features 8 galleries that showcase engaging and oversized visuals to tell the story of Panama's unique biodiversity. It explores how human presence has impacted the region over time and highlights the different evolution of the Atlantic and Pacific regions. The museum takes a more abstract approach, offering a fresh perspective on the interconnectedness of all species.
I came for the architecture, but was really impressed with the exhibits and especially the helpful staff. Unlike in other museums where people are just there to tell you not to touch anything, staff greet you when you enter the room and help to explain the exhibits or answer questions. Exhibits flow through both indoor and outdoor spaces, and there are also lots of screens, videos, and interactive displays.

Really nice place to visit. Architecture is modern and colourful. Permanent exhibitions provide a unique portrait of Central American biological diversity status. I like the most the fish tanks showing the difference between pacific and Atlantic Ocean.

It's $20 if you're not Panamanian, but it's worth the money. There is a small coffee shop/Cafe there. There are staff in every exhibit that speak English and Spanish and will tell you about the exhibits! Nice air conditioning too.

Amaaaazing experience at the Biomuseo! From the ticket counter to the exit, the hospitality was wonderful. As a first-time visitor to Panama, I loved sharing this with my kids—the welcome video was such a cool introduction. Section 3’s seating area, with its breathtaking mountain views, was absolutely gorgeous and one of my favorite spots. You can easily spend 2–3 hours here with kids. The museum is clean, well-maintained, and staffed by friendly, helpful people. The exhibits were both fun and educational—the history on Earth’s air in particular was invaluable. Easily one of my favorite attractions in Panama, and I would absolutely visit again.
Lathyra R — Google review

Restaurant
Fonda Lo Que Hay is a hidden gem located in Panama City's old town center, Casco Antiguo. This unassuming cafeteria offers fantastic food with a daily menu based on fresh seafood. The industrial-style setting adds to its charm, and the menu features eight dishes inspired by Panamanian cuisine with a subtle mix of diverse cultures and tastes.
During our stay in Panama, Fonda Lo Que Hay was hands down the best restaurant we visited. The flavors here are authentic and uniquely Panamanian, executed with impressive creativity and skill. We ordered 4–5 dishes to share, and each one was better than the last. An absolute “must try” is the cassava with tuna, which literally melts in your mouth. The mondongo was on another level, rich and full of character. The coconut rice struck the perfect balance—flavorful but not overly sweet. The catch of the day, baked in the oven, was a true highlight: fresh, natural, and packed with vibrant flavors. The clams were also incredibly fresh, something you notice right away with the first bite. When it comes to cocktails, every drink exceeded our expectations—creative, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. Clearly, this is a concept that’s been carefully thought through from start to finish. What really stood out was that, even with the place completely full, the kitchen team worked seamlessly together: well-organized, efficient, and making sure plates came out in good time. That kind of harmony speaks to passion and dedication. In our opinion, this restaurant deserves to be on the radar for a Michelin star thanks to its quality, creativity, and consistency. 100% recommended. We’ll definitely be coming back on our next trip to Panama.

I came here for lunch and ordered the “Sexy Clams” - absolutely delicious! The flavors were perfectly balanced. It was truly outstanding. I also ordered a side of bread that came toasted with butter, which was perfect for dipping into the broth. I enjoyed my meal so much that I came back to try the tuna tostada everyone raves about, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to the hype for me. It was good, just not as impressive as my first meal.
Rasha — Google review
Lovely experience at a place recommended by a lot of friends. Honestly, it wasn’t my top two spots in Panama, but the steak was our favorite, so tender and delicious. The salads were a bit salty and acidic, even though they said no salt is added. The service was outstanding, and the staff were clearly helpful and friendly. Overall, it really comes down to personal taste, so it’s worth trying for yourself. Just make sure to reserve at least 2–3 nights in advance!
Moe M — Google review
Fonda Lo Que Hay Beautiful venue and entrance, love a big door and they had one that opened in a cool way! Service was quick and attentive! Servers spoke in both Spanish and English. The kitchen is open concept so you can see everything that’s going on, very cool! We ordered a few things: Tuna Cassava Tostada 8.9/10: Buttery, creamy, rich! The pickled onion salsa on the side added the acidity needed to make this dish hit the spot! Love the concept of a crispy bed underneath a carpaccio. Og Fish empanadas 8.1/10: Crispy and oozing with cheese! Amazing dips on the side as well. Would recommend as a nice light started. Grilled Oysters 4.5/10: Nothing against the dish just wasn’t our cup of tea! Tried to explain that they didn’t do anything wrong just wasn’t for us. Was very heavy on the smoke flavour made it hard to eat. They did end up taking this off our bill as we didn’t eat much of it but we didn’t expect it to be taken off nor did we ask. So A+ in customer service. Beef Guacho 7.8/10: Overall pretty solid and tasty dish! Only criticisms would be that it’s very heavy, and you aren’t given enough chip to dip ratio. Also the cups get quite soggy before you get the chance to eat them. Overall would try them out again!

Nice lively restaurant in Casco Antiguo. Visited Wed 22 Oct. Good cocktails and the food is amazing. The Pig Leg Sandwich is easily top3 things I've put in my mouth in the 5 days I have been in Panama. Limited vegetarian options - but the mushroom curry rice dish was amazing. RECOMMEND.
Tarun Y — Google review
I ordered a pork sandwich, my partner ordered a beef gaucho. The waitress said "Just for you to know the gaucho is quick but you need to wait 25 mins for the sandwich". 25 minutes for a sandwich?! Insane! The back part of the restaurant feels like a fancy cafe, the small front part (where we sat) is more of a formal restaurant. So make sure you book ahead and request the front room. The food was delicious even if I didn't eat what I went for because I didn't want to wait 25 minutes for a sandwich. The service was fine.

The food was amazing! We ordered the skirt steak meal for two and it easily could have fed a third person. It was so good I didn’t even want to stop eating. Everything was full of flavor and cooked perfectly.

The Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica of Santa Maria the Ancient, completed in 1796 after a century of construction, is a stunning stone church with imposing twin bell towers. Situated in Panama City's Old Town on Independence Square, this historic edifice began construction in 1688 and was consecrated in 1796. Despite surviving an earthquake that destroyed neighboring buildings in the late 19th century, it has been recently restored and stands as one of Central America's largest churches.
Beautiful cathedral that is right at the center of the old city square. Very near to the Panama Canal museum and free to enter. Gorgeous inside and out, definitely recommend stopping by.

I suggest getting a tour (there are guides inside the church that will tell you about the place for a tip). I went there on my own a few years back without a guide and recently with a guide and what a difference. I got a whole new perspective with the information from the local guides. There is an exhibit about the Millennial Saint.

Churches & Cathedrals
The Church of Merced, located in Casco Viejo, is a historical and religious structure with a baroque facade dating back to 1680. This church is among the oldest buildings in Panama City and features intricate stonework that was relocated from its original site in Panama Viejo. It showcases the rich history of the city and attracts tourists who are interested in exploring its diverse range of cathedrals, museums, shops, and dining options.
Its amazing that they were able to transport each stone of this baroque Mercedarian cathedral from the original location in the Old Quarter or first city of Panama in the pre-1600's, to its current location in Casco Viejo. Not only that, but it still contains the original roof rafter structure along with the original wooden columns as well!

I didn't go inside, but the outside has a beautiful baroque style entrance. It's located on a street with other beautiful buildings as well.

Iglesia de la Merced Panama City, Panama This church was transported brick by brick from the ruins of a 16th-century city into Panama City's current historic district. THIS STUCCO AND STONE EXTERIOR feels visually out of place with its colonial surroundings in Panama City’s historic Casco Viejo neighborhood. The reason for this is that the church is actually from the much older city of Panama Viejo, and was transported from its ruins. Located 12 kilometers away from Panama’s historic city center, Panama Viejo is the oldest city established by European settlers in North America, dating back to 1519. Panama Viejo was destroyed in 1671 during an attack led by the Welsh privateer Henry Morgan. The population elected to move to the peninsula—the site of the present-day Casco Viejo—to be better fortified from attack.
Karin S — Google review
A baroque facade in a colonial surrounding. The church initially was built in the early 1600's in Panamà Viejo. After Morgan's attack it was moved to Casco Viejo. Personally, I like the interior very much, the relatively small nave and the aisles with several side altars evoke an intimate friendly atmosphere. As we were lucky enough to meet the Ohio-born harpist, we could witness a classical concerto with harmonious acoustics.
D H — Google review
One should go here to see the older history of Panama City. There are cathedrals, museums, and shops catering to locals and tourists. Also. You can find nice places for meals or just a coffee.

Excellent location! Perfect location. Romes spacious and clean! Staff was top shelf, great restaurant for breakfast and lunch ( didn’t try dinner) Also lovely pool area! For $300+ a night, breakfast was not included, the rooms were small, the floorboards were extremely loud, and the shower water would get scalding hot. For $300+ a night it would be advisable to find somewhere else to stay for the night. The walls and ceiling are very thin so you can hear everything going on in the rooms next to you, above you, and outside your bedroom door. The clock tower rings every 15 minutes from 7am to 10pm, the area itself is extremely loud and very touristy which is to be expected but the noise was just unreal. Beds were very comfortable, rooms were clean, and the staff was very kind and respectful, restaurant was very good.

Nice quaint hotel. Location is great. Looks like management is on the downside. Door lock is broken. Asked to change room as a single woman traveller - safety is not important. No response. Looking for another hotel. And the church bell is loud. If anyone sleeps lightly, think thrice.

Beautiful hotel lobby and rooms. I saw a lot of negative reviews about the shower, but we loved the showers and the deluge that came from the shower head. Hot water does turn off at some point at night. The breakfast is a can’t miss. May be the best pancakes I’ve ever eaten, and fresh juices and fruit. Excellent service from waitstaff. Noise complaints are valid. Our room was eye level with the bell tower. But, for whatever reason, it didn’t really bother us. Added to the charm.

The American Trade Hotel has been on my list for quite some time, and now that I’ve finally stayed here, it’s officially my new go-to hotel whenever I’m in Panama City. Located in the heart of Casco Viejo, this plantation-style property is stunning in every way. The soaring ceilings and thoughtful décor create such an elevated atmosphere that makes the entire experience feel special. Casco Viejo itself continues to grow and advance every year, with so many incredible restaurants, bars, and cultural spots within easy walking distance. It makes staying here feel like you’re right in the center of it all. For anyone driving, valet parking is available on site, which makes things super easy—just call up when you’re ready. The staff could not have been friendlier, and breakfast downstairs was a highlight each morning. The rooms are incredibly spacious and well-designed, with luxe bath amenities that make the stay feel even more indulgent. One pro tip: if you’re a light sleeper or sensitive to sound, ask for a room on the park side. The other side of the hotel faces a church, and the bells go off up to three times an hour throughout the day. I truly can’t wait to go back—the American Trade Hotel sets the bar for what a perfect stay in Panama City should be.

CasaCasco, located in the heart of Casco Viejo, is a multi-level entertainment venue offering a vibrant mix of dining, nightlife, and panoramic views. Spread across five floors, it houses various restaurants on the lower levels and features a Club-Disco nightclub on the fourth floor. The highlight is the 360 Terraza and CasaCasco rooftop bar, known for its stylish ambiance and luxurious setting.
Make reservation and ask if it's a party of 3 not to be seated on a table of 2.. Appetizers, drinks 🍸, napkins, more Appetizers is very hard to eat.. Also Sushi 🍣 is made with rice not plantain fusion and flavorless ( not recommended). The bartenders are very polite and servers can be more attentive towards your stay. They do are polite and courteous but they forget your table time to time... Djs are the touch of cocktails hours so it's nice to have good music 🎶.

The food, atmosphere and service was top notch. I didn’t like the taste of the pumpkin soup it more tasted like curry to me and there was too much of something that my tastebuds refused, so one sip and I was done. Perhaps they should offer smaller portions as I just needed something warm but that definitely wasn’t it. Everyone else enjoyed their appetizers which was great. Not long after my fish meal arrived. The fish however was great and the complimentary starters served in a coconut shell . Very creative with a distinct dip that I would definitely recommend.

A beautiful rooftop bar in Casco Viejo serving delicious drinks and food (I didn't eat here). The view offers a panorama of the neighborhood as well as the sea and city. Service was great and there are other restaurants below as well worth checking out.

This place was absolutely amazing. We checked out the rooftop. They're a few restaurants in this building. The entire area is lively at night. Our server was gracia. She was pleasant and our food and drinks were timely. I love the whole vibe here. Need to possibly come back during the day. Our first night in panama did not disappoint. The Uber ride from ramada to here was under $5.

It was a pleasure to dine here for my husbands 50th Birthday. Everything was perfect. The food and the atmosphere was awesome. The service was top tier, our server was spectacular. We have a few more days here and we will definitely dine here again

The neighborhood of this restaurant is such a cool place. I love the historic aspects of Casco Viejo. It's very Spaniard in the design with excellent red brick streets. The restaurant itself is in building shared between 3 restaurants. We ordered the Panamanian Grill. This dish came with chicken, pork, steak, and sausage accompanied with petacones and french fries. The duo of dipping sauces to go along with them is ketchup and some sort of chimichurri with mango dip. The french fries were really good, very much of a McDonald's shoestring style of french fry which is always nice because it's hard to just eat one at a time. Salt level was good and fitting for the fries. The petacones were decent, but maybe my least favorite thing from the dish (but, I still enjoyed them). Steak was decent quality and cooked just fine; same goes for the chicken. They give you an on the house petacones fries that come on top of Himalayan salt with some sort of citrus dipping sauce that looks like a queso, but tastes somewhat like mango or pineapple. It was definitely unlike anything I've ever tasted, but in a good way. I had my first Panamanian beer (Balboa) which was nice. It was a little dryer than I was expecting, but I enjoyed it. Their Tropical Fresh sangria was made very well with nice fruits garnishing the glass. Definitely a place I recommend. The bar was surrounded by sand and the bartop had a fishtank tube from one side to the other. Petacones fries with Sauce: 7/10 Panamanian Grill: 8/10 Fries 9/10 Petacones: 6/10 Sangria: 9/10 Overall: 8/10

This is a must try! There are few options/levels to choose from! We did the first level and the rooftop and they did not disappoint. Food was amazing and service was great too!

This is a rooftop great view! And yes, expect to pay for this view with the prices of what you have. Enjoy it though! The breeze, sunset, the lights, everything about this place is worth the extra cost in the rooftop. I mean, $5 for a Balboa? Yeah that's the price for this view. Very romantic spot too.
