The National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, originally founded by Edward Montagu in 1952, boasts a remarkable collection of over 250 vehicles. From early motor cars to record-breaking machines like the Bluebird, the museum showcases a diverse range of automobiles. Visitors can also explore the World of Top Gear with their admission ticket, which includes access to Abbey and Palace House. Additionally, there are plenty of nearby attractions for day trips such as The New Forest Wildlife Park and Paultons Park.
A great museum full of exhibits from all eras. So much to see and do. The monorail is amazing, offering great views of the gardens and museum. The abbey ruins is a beautiful place too and the information available about the monks and their life is great to read. We were fortunate to visit during Halloween season so we're treated to ghost stories presented by a member of the Montague family,he was a great story teller and really captured the spooky atmosphere. It was the highlight of our visit, both children and adults sat, eyes wide open, listening to his spooky tales. A must visit museum if you're in the New Forest, loads to see and will easily fill a day. Thanks to all at Beaulieu for a great visit.

Always enjoy coming here, attended for the Formula 1 75 exhibition, but also had a look at all the cars on display. Enjoyed the monorail ride a look round the house and gardens, sad there was no classic cars out and about... Food was good and tasty 😋 Staff were chatty and knowledgeable and helpful. Overall a lovely day despite the weather

I took my 6 year old daughter for her first visit (but far from mine) and she absolutely loved it! The weather held good despite the late October timing. She loved seeing Mr Bean's car and the Disney display but her highlight (and mine, to be fair) was riding on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The driver was a blast and it was so cool to learn about the cars that were used in the film, and wave at everyone as we explored the grounds. Beaulieu is one of my favourite places to visit when I'm in the UK and I think I can now say it is the same for my daughter. Very highly recommended for anyone of any age.

Visiting this week in half term , my son wanted to see a Porsche 917 so I emailed before booking to confirm the car would Be on display , very pleasant personal reply with confirmation. Don’t be put off with the price for the tickets . You will spend the whole day here so does represent great value for money . My children really enjoyed the “ we had one of those “ section as they could sit in the cars and experience the cars we grew up with . Only points to mention , we had coffee and cake in the afternoon , rather pricey & the cakes were dry and not great . Also a lot of tables left uncleared and in places food on the floor under tables .

fantastic visit! we were meeting family in the new forest for the weekend and beaulieu was close by so we thought we would pop by and check it out! we have been before but i was a child. the cars exhibit was on and it was really cool! if you are a pixar fan in the uk id reccomend coming whilst this exhibit is on. i am a massive f1 fan so seeing the cars was very cool! a personal highlight was the 2021 williams! additionally we were able to ride in the chitty chitty bang bang car wich was incredible. the driver was so knowledgable and we felt so safe in the car with him. my mum is a huge fan of the film so it was such a core memory for her. thank you beualieu! i will be back
Alicia W — Google review
Fairly priced considering you are able to reuse the tickets and use them to access events held here in the future. The cafe on site offers good food and drinks selection It is worth exploring the other features such as the play grounds, other museums, and the house which is all included in the ticket. There are plenty of cars to view including an F1 section, classic cars, and modern cars. There are displays featuring garages and buses also. Plenty to do and to keep the kids entertained

This year, we visited the amazing Beaulieu for the third time, and it never stops surprising us! Located in the beautiful New Forest, Hampshire, this place is absolutely magical. The highlight for me was the National Motor Museum, which features more than 285 vehicles — from vintage classics to racing legends. I especially loved the new Formula 1 exhibition, celebrating 75 years since the very first championship in 1950. For children, there’s a fantastic Mini Little Beaulieu play area — fun, creative, and safe! The magnificent Beaulieu Palace also left a lasting impression with its beauty and history. There are many sculptures, exhibits, and many beautiful and interesting things around..... I truly recommend this place to everyone living in or visiting England — Beaulieu is an unforgettable experience you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

Worth a visit and any number of re-visits - Visited on Saturday, 28/06/25. 3rd visit here and the first for about 11 years. Lovely weather, which always helps, and there was a Morgan owners meeting taking place, so there was more to see than normal. Parking is near the entrance, but uncovered. Bought the tickets online in advance, so you get a discount, and it's straightforward to get in. Once inside, the initial options are a Monorail and restaurant/toilet facilities. Very pricey for anything in the restaurant (£5 for 2 cans of soda), so suggest you bring your own. The monorail is an excellent way to get an overview of the site before exploring on foot, and the ride is included in the entry price and can be ridden more than once. The old Top Gear exhibition has been replaced in part by a new section of example cars from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's that you can get in and reminisce about (though these cars are in a bit of a state tbh). Beyond that, we visited the main museum, which hadn't changed much in the past 10 years, but had exhibits moved around. The F1 section was very good with more recent examples of cars, and whilst we visited, an excellent F1 Simulator which you can go in (you have to pre-book) for £15 for 15 mins. It's worth it, so suggest you book a slot as soon as you arrive. On this visit, we didn't have the time to explore the house and grounds, but there are some lovely walks to be had. The staff are all excellent and approachable, and friendly, and though I have been 3 times now, I would have no qualms about making future visits as there is generally a change each year.

Beaulieu Estate, spanning 700 acres, is a captivating destination that encompasses homes, businesses, and farms. The estate is renowned for the world-famous National Motor Museum and the historic Palace House with its fascinating history. Visitors can also explore the stunning gardens and enjoy a walk around Beaulieu village where wild horses and donkeys roam freely. While exploring the estate, visitors can immerse themselves in the Abbey and manor while taking in the abundance of wildlife.
A great day out with plenty to see and do. The monorail and bus are perfect for seeing the site and getting around. Good value for money. I enjoyed the Top Gear Experience, but thought that the vehicles left outside looked rather sad. It would be good to get these under cover too.

Fantastic day out with something for everyone. Tickets bought in advance are cheaper. If you return within six days you can do the whole thing again and visit the Motor Museum again for up to a year. It's good value - especially in the summer when they've special features like free falconry displays. Loved the open top bus. Loved the monorail. Palace House is gorgeous. The car collection is superb. The staff are lovely: knowledgeable, friendly - many have been there for decades. I go every year in August and again at Christmas and it never disappoints.
Bun B — Google review
Nice little day out with the kids. We visited for the supercar event, if it wasn’t for the event we probably wouldn’t have been able to spend an entire day here. The museum was quite interesting and so was the Top Gear exhibit. The house was quite interesting to look around. I wouldn’t rush back in a hurry.
Greg S — Google review
Did the motor museum as a showing a car as part of a Simple event, arrived early with 4 other cars which were then split up by marshals in car park which made it difficult when we moved off to go in. Parked up in arena and hit the restaurant for a sausage bap, which was nice for the price. Museum and Palace House hasn't changed much but little Beaulieu play area great for the children and the new "I had one of those" where real old cars were to get into and play with the controls is a great add. Simple car event are a good day out as so much to do for all the family, old and young but can be a little expensive, £5 an ice cream from the van which is why a 4, going again in August so can't be a bad day out.

I love Beaulieu motor museum. It's the smell of the old cars and the relaxed friendly atmosphere that keeps bringing me back. This place is great for pre-teens and is more than just old cars. Restaurant is well laid out and the food was lovely.

On Screen Cars

Exhibit
Nestled within the charming grounds of Beaulieu, On Screen Cars is a delightful exhibition that showcases an array of iconic vehicles from beloved films and television shows. This smaller yet captivating display features memorable cars like Ron Weasley's Flying Ford Anglia from Harry Potter, Mr. Bean's quirky green Mini, and the classic Reliant Regal from Only Fools and Horses. Each visit offers a fresh selection of vehicles, ensuring there's always something new to discover.
Separate to the main hall, this On Screen exhibition focuses on vehicles that were used in TV and film. The selection shown changes every so often but on my most recent visit, the van from OFaH, the mini from Mr. Bean, as well as Bessie from Doctor Who were all there to see. Tucked away but it is well worth taking a look.
Ian F — Google review
Part of the Beaulieu ticket. This is a bit small with 8-12 cars and can be seen in a couple of minutes. It's not overly impressive unless you have a personal affinity for the cars - such as from Mr. Bean, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Jason Bourne, or others.
Becky T — Google review
On screen cars is an exhibit with cars from different shows on TV and cinema, there are a few defiantly worth seeing! Ron Weasleys car from Harry Potter, Mr Beans mini, Brum, a James Bond car and a few others.
Toby F — Google review
A small but fun exhibition of cars from movies and television. Includes "Only Fools & Horses" Reliant Regal, Mr Bean Mini, and the heavily weaponised Jaguar car from James Bond, Die another Day. Sound tracks from the films accompany the displays.
Miles M — Google review

Nestled in the serene Beaulieu village on the edge of New Forest National Park, The Montagu Arms Hotel offers a refined 17th-century country house experience. The hotel's rooms are spread across the main house, a converted barn, and original chauffeur garages. Guests can enjoy Gertrude Jekyll-inspired gardens and luxurious accommodations like four-poster beds and oversized bathtubs. The acclaimed Terrace Restaurant boasts 3 AA Rosettes and stunning garden views.
We stayed at the hotel for our wedding and my birthday combined, and it was our best ever hotel experience. The setting is glorious, the atmosphere excellent, the service impeccable and the room was amazing. The staff were especially good, being very friendly and attentive to all our needs. Special details like champagne for my birthday, wedding and birthday cards made it all the more memorable. We will never forget our wedding at the Montagu, and intend to return for our first anniversary.

Went here for a birthday and stayed overnight. It rained yet it was still magical looking out into the garden during dinner. The food is fantastic and the sommelier really knew his stuff selecting the perfect wine for each course. The staff were great and we even got a list of where to go in Paris when we go. The food was right on point, flavours that were so good and complimentary with all local produce... beyond words to describe. The room was so cosy yet spacious, looking out over the garden. Breakfast was simply the best with great coffee and selections to make, everything was on offer.

Genuinely dog-friendly, wonderful place to say. Spacious hotel with lots of character. Plenty of outdoor areas to potter about in. Our room exceeded our expectations - amazing bathroom! Staff are welcoming and attentive. The dog bed and hamper for our greyhound were both thoroughly enjoyed. We genuinely really enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

Stayed here for 3 nights, we booked the hayloft room. The staff were all very traditional and attentive, the room was fantastic with upstairs sitting area and a very large bathroom. Complimentary sloe gin and water a nice touch. Continental Breakfast included, was plentiful and excellent quality. Thank you for our stay.

We chose the Montagu Arms for our intimate wedding last month and what a magical day it was. The courtyard room we had for two nights was absolutely beautiful and made for the nicest and most relaxing place to get ready in the morning. The grounds and gardens are absolutely stunning, and provided us with the space to entertain our guests all afternoon (including 11 children!). The Oakwood Room looked beautiful with a mixture of my own decor and flowers by Jo Hicks. The staff were brilliant and very attentive. They made sure every detail was just as we wanted it to be so thank you for that. My only bugbear was the cost of the children’s meals - at £40 a head I found this extremely expensive for what they were given. However, everybody had the best day and will continue to talk about how perfect it was for years to come I’m sure. Thank you Clara and the Montagu for helping us create these treasured memories.
Carla F — Google review
A really lovely place to stay, good car park lovely gardens, and a characterful hotel. The staff are welcoming and excellent, rooms are well appointed and we had a very comfy bed. Had a nice meal at Monty’s. The breakfast buffet is excellent with plenty choice of quality fruits cheeses, breads, meats, everything. We really enjoyed our visit it exceeded our expectations
Anna D — Google review
Back bar/garden is lovely with the water feature in a sunny day. I would say the hotel as a whole is feeling pretty dated, a lot of the room furniture feels like from the 80’s. Did not try the cooled breakfast but the continental breakfast was very good. Great location for a trip out of the city.
Ross H — Google review
So comfortable, relaxing and extremely dog friendly. Such beautiful gardens to explore that feel magical. I would really like to thank The Montagu Arms Hotel for such a pleasant stay. Especially to Paul, Louise and Olaf. Excellent service! Will be back sooner rather than later.
