The tents were spacious and surprisingly cozy, with warm, incredibly comfortable beds. I even wondered if the duvets were down-filled, they weren’t, but they felt very comfortable nonetheless. That was definitely the highlight of our stay. We spent a night there during a yellow weather warning, and despite the stormy conditions, we stayed dry and comfortable. The wind and rain made for a noisy night, but the tent held up well.
Westport House itself felt fairly average. I wouldn’t be in a hurry to return unless we had plans for lots of cycling with older kids. For younger children, the activities were a bit limited, though it was still an okay experience. The grounds seemed somewhat neglected in places, not quite on par with Center Parcsor other grounds around the country. That said, the glamping setup was nice, and even with the rubbish weather, we still enjoyed ourselves. The showers and toilets could use a bit more attention in terms of cleanliness, but that’s part and parcel of camping. Very little staff about though in general. On site car charging is needed too.
