Pereira

Pereira is a city in a mountainous, coffee-growing region of western Colombia known for mild Arabica beans. The main plaza, Bolívar Square, has a statue of independence hero Simón Bolívar, nude, on horseback. The 19th-century Cathedral of Our Lady of Poverty has an intricate latticework roof. César Gaviria Trujillo Viaduct is a cable-stayed bridge over the Otún River. The Pereira Art Museum hosts visiting exhibits.

Beautiful park. It was safe People, families, couples and friends all come here and chill. There are yummy street foods too. Everyone is friendly.
Pereira has beautiful plazas with lots of vendors and pigeons. It’s a fun place to see locals selling their wares and get a feel for the friendly city. Plus it’s always fun to see giant horse statues. I wouldn’t say it’s an all day event but If you enjoy people watching and walking it’s a great way to spend a morning or afternoon.
Pokemon stops galore for my poke fans. Food guys there is a small coffee shop with bunuelos to die for its on the left hand side from the church. This place was awesome alot of people, decorations were nice even simon bolivar has a covid mask went @ night and in the day time safe as hell
Nice place plenty of history. Monument to Simon Bolivar
Nice place to chill and people watch.
It looks much better after the recent renovations. A lot cleaner, more tourist friendly, with a lot less hustle from street vendors. I think security can always improve, I know it would never be perfect, but it can be even more attractive for people to visit. The lack of public facilities makes it harder and more expensive as you have to pay to go to the toilet, and if you are a family it becomes even more pricey. Good choices of shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, etc. Paid, public parking available all over and available at a reasonable price. Good public transport connections and very easy to get a taxi as well.
Some cultural and historic mixing into this park, you can see how big could be someone.
In the city centre of seems to a meeting hub. Also multiple activities are held here. It's worth passing by if you have some time to waste. There is normally a large amount piggins hanging around and the favourite spot is on the statue. (Really need cleaning when I saw it) probably best to avoid it night After 9 or so the type of people change . But the is 24 police presence.

Wow! I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Our Lady of Poverty Cathedral in Pereira, and it was an unforgettable experience. The cathedral's interior is a masterpiece, featuring a unique roof structure crafted from 13,503 pieces of curly cumin wood, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship and design. The natural brick construction adds to its charm, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. During our pre-pascua visit on Friday, March 21, 2025, we were fortunate to attend an ongoing service. The open side doors allowed for easy access, and the acoustics inside were exceptional, enhancing the uplifting and clear sermon delivered in Spanish. The cathedral's location on the western side of Plaza de Bolívar makes it a must-see landmark in Pereira. I highly recommend a visit to this beautiful cathedral to appreciate its architectural beauty and serene ambiance.
This Cathedral is amazing with the beamed roof. Incredible architecture
Nice church to be in God's presence.
One of the few places to visit while in Pereira
Like any churches in Colombia, it's always beautiful! Didn't go inside though.
Cute church - nice architecture

Best nature contact experience I ever had
Today the hike from the end of Via Suiza was along an awful “trail” that alternated between rocky creekbed and total mudfest. I turned around after two hours. Surprisingly unenjoyable. Might be nicer/drier at other times. To be clear, I did not make it to La Pastora. I’m told it’s a nice place to camp and relax. The “trail” there, tho, yikes…If you need a waterfall, Los Frailes is a much more accessible option for a half-day trip out of La Florida or Pereira.
This wonderful place, sited in the middle of high mountain forest in Colombia, is the gate of the Otun Lagoon; it is administrated by CARDER, a local govern entity. You can access this place coming from Pereira, traveling in bus or in your car to El Cedral, where the road finishes. Then you can continue by a trail riding a rental horse, riding your mountain bike or walking if preferred. The trail rises following the Otun river course. The air and landscape are great. La Pastora is a small and nice hostel. You can stay there in comfortable small rooms, enjoying typical food and a hot highly sugar beverage (aguapanela) around the fireplace. If you visit La Pastora you are going to fall in love with this part of Colombia's forest and you'll be back. I recommend to all of you to visit La Pastora and all the beautiful places around.
A quite place to hike to some amazing waterfalls
(Translated by Google) Beautiful and wonderful place where you can enjoy camping areas or a bed in the cabin, a good campfire and a delicious waterfall that you can visit just 20 minutes from the place. I was descending from the Paramillo del Quindio through the Cedral and we had lunch at this place, it is really very nice, the food is great and they have camping and lodging service. For camping it looks great, you can hear the river. The place is large and is 6 km from the entrance to the Ucumari natural park through the cedral, so several people are going to do this walk. On the way you can hear the Otún River because it is close and you pass through very beautiful forests. The walk through this place is very nice.

lots of shops, plenty of quality places to buy clothes etc, plus a good selection of places to eat with varied food choices.
First time here they turned off the lights on is in middle of eating it's was 7:30 pm but 2nd time here art at Presto burgers and they are some of the best burgers I ate here so there's that
Victoria Mall is a delightful shopping destination that I fully recommend. The mall itself is beautifully designed, offering a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere for shoppers. One of the highlights is the variety of stores available; they provide a good range of products without being overly expensive. This makes for an enjoyable shopping experience where you can find almost anything you need. The food options at Victoria Mall are impressive. The food court boasts a diverse selection, including coffee shops and bars, catering to a wide range of tastes and preferences. Whether you're in the mood for a quick snack or a leisurely meal, you'll find something to satisfy your cravings. Additionally, the availability of ample parking is a significant plus. It adds to the convenience of the visit, ensuring that starting and ending your trip to the mall is stress-free. Overall, Victoria Mall is a great place to shop, dine, and relax, making it a top choice for anyone in the area.
Nice small mall considering its location in this beautiful country. The neighborhood is not itself the best, it’s almost outside the downtown area, but still within El Centro. Right outside the main door, there are big letters forming a sign that reads "Pereira" where you may take pics to secure your Facebook bragging rights about actually being in Pereira. But the thing I appreciated the most is its food court at the top level where you can enjoy some fresher air in the hottest days. The little mall restaurants offer a decent variety of flavors for most budgets. Like in most parts of the city, affording some tasty steak is not a problema, and even here, which just about the same costs you’d pay for a Burger King in the old USA. The food then is also healthier, you won't find a MacDonalds, Domino Pizza or KFC here, but if you are the type of client that frequent these type of the junk food restaurants, you are gonna need more more than the average toilet paper they sell outside the restrooms, which is free here, but they sell them in insufficient quantities in a vending machine just outside the restroom area. It's always better to carry around your own paper, and this is a universal advice that applies to almost anywhere in the world you are traveling. Other than its restrooms and location, Victoria mall is not that far away than it’s more exclusive and affluent cousin Arbolela Mall (Centro Comercial Arbolela).
We entered from the square up a stairs that lead to the ground floor of the mall. There are shops around an open square that has a great place for young kids to play in. As we walked around we notice that the shops promoting some nice cloths, shoes, electronics and one Chinese store that is like a dollar store except that the prices are a bit higher. On the lower level there is a great pet store. The food court has some nice food to offer and the casino is doing a good trade. We went over to the cinema, we were disappointed in that they do not show any films in English. Our visit to the bathrooms was not the best, first the entrance to the woman’s side allows men to see straight into the bathroom area. Even though the bathroom was nicely decorated there was no toilet seats, no toilet paper,, no working hand dryer and no soap, other than that the place was clean.
Plenty of stores, an old movie theater at the top, a food area. It was SUPER crowded and not everyone was wearing a mask. Doesn't have a lot of open spaces but the small park outside is nice.
Great atmosphere and good restaurants
Is quite a small mall but it has everything you need. The Bar zone is quite good. You'll have a good time in there, plus it has a nice view.

Beautiful park with lots of attractions. The wave pool is very popular. The kids can enjoy the kids' pool as well. There's a farm with many kinds of animals and a long trail surrounded by beautiful nature. It's recommended to visit the park early during the day in order to enjoy everything. Also, it is better to go during the week as it's less crowded. Be prepared to have documentation ready for everyone entering the park. It's a requirement to register every person that enters the park!
It is a great place to go on Pereira with lots of things to do.
Wonderful park with beautiful animals, flora, and swimming pools. All about nature 😄
Bit rough around the edges but Awesome value for money! We aren't locals but if you are it's alot cheaper. Nothing is in english. There are lots of pools scattered around the park so you can walk the whole park in togs and swim in random places. You need to pay an extra 2000 pesos for the Rio lento tube river per ride. Loved the bamboo tour, they only open if the weather is good. Loved the farm. Food was tasty and affordable, your typical Colombian meal beans rice chicken fillet coleslaw with soup and a juice for 18000 pesos at the restaurant, all restaurants serve same food except the restaurant by the farm and the consota cafe. They have a little shop there you can buy stuff similar to a gas station. You can rent bikes inside. Lots of different mini sports stadiums and a roller blading rink. I think you can get through everything if you go early. Cafe consota had good coffee and a different menu. We got there at 10am and left at closing 5pm and experienced everything except the indigenous tour which was closed. No tourists there except us, it caters more to the locals. Kids had a blast.
Lots to do and full of nature experience. The people at the farm were great. Very welcoming and coffee was delicious
Great place . Make sure to apply sunscreen or sun block and really bad sun burn .
Love the place, have a lot of venues places to eat and have different sport activities . It's really good for family getting together

One of my best and hardest experiences , summiting The ice cap of Santa Isabel. The view is incredible you can see the Nevado del Ruiz and Nevado del Tolima. The Journey is fascinating, the landscapes are breathless, not an easy summit but archivd thanks to the 2022 Santa Isabel expedition by Mochileando Parce.
