Grand Junction

Grand Junction is a city in Colorado's Western Slope region. It's known as the hub of Colorado's wine country. Split into 5 sections, James M. Robb - Colorado River State Park offers river access, lakes, biking trails and wildlife. The Museum of the West displays prehistoric pottery and 19th-century firearms. West of the city, trail-lined Colorado National Monument is a park with red sandstone monoliths and canyons.

Great place to enjoy the heart of the Western Slope. Many small lakes are on top of the mesa, with creeks running all over the place. There's large aspen groves to explore, and much of the hiking here is easy. It is a mesa, after all, not a mountaintop.
I love this Mesa. There is so much fun to find up there. There a hundreds of lake's and streams. It is cool. There are fish everywhere. The bad is the bugs get horrible. Something none at all, other times you need a shotgun for repellent because they are persistent. Either way you have to get out there and enjoy it.
Most beautiful flattop mountain iv ever seen. Well worth a 10 hour drive to camp for a few nights. Plenty of trails and campgrounds, but be aware of cooking meat that isn't covered and storing it as its bear territory here
Grand Mesa is very beautiful. I can't wait to go again next year. The colors are just so beautiful. I lived in California for 48 years so to see a real fall finally is just wonderful.
You could spend weeks here and not see it all! Gorgeous views of Grand Junction, Delta, and La Sal Mountains! Roads were in nice shape, there’s a million different lakes and the fall colors were really popping off when we were up there. There’s so much to do here, it can be overwhelming but definitely worth checking out
🔊🔊🔊 Hello Review Readers 🔊🔊🔊 Hello Y'all ..if you're looking for a fun summer drive then load up your vehicle & picnic lunches and drive the Grand Mesa loop. You can do it from either direction in a circle from Grand Junction. Going the ski area way or the Delta way is equally beautiful! Depending on how many times you stop to take pictures it's probably about a 2 1/2 -3 hour loop. At the top of the Grand Mesa there is a visitor center and many amazing lakes and breathtaking scenery. If you live anywhere in the area or just passing through on vacation do yourself a favor and drive the Grand Mesa loop. It's a very relaxing and peaceful drive. It's definitely a bucket list drive because the scenery from the top is next level. Have fun Y'all!
I thought you could rent equipment here for kayaking but it doesn’t work that way. You have to bring whatever you want. I did some hiking but had a hard time following the signs and didn’t end up where I was trying to go. There is no cell service. I drove all the way through both ways. On my way back in the evening I saw a bear crossing the road! I definitely recommend doing the drive and hiking if you like to hike but it’s difficult to understand the services and there’s no one to help as the visitors center is no longer staffed.
We visited Grand Mesa in August of 2023 and I am so glad we did! The weather was perfect. We stoped and walked along many of the larger lakes (there are over 300 lakes) . We entered from the South 50 to 65 . Visitor center is far in, nearly at top of Mesa first 6 of 12 mile drive was gravel rough road and the drive itself is pretty shaky. The visitor center was nice, the lakes around the visitor center were pretty. Overall nice experience but be prepared for mosquitos in the summer bring a repellent for the mosquitoes.

Very beautifulthis year. The roads are a bit chaotic with all of the stuff around it; curving road with raised brick planters, stayed everywhere, crosswalks lights ever 4 seconds. It's just a lot to process, especially if you're looking for a store.
The grand Valley is just spectacular. Make sure to stop in Grand Junction, Palisade and Fruta.
The record store was very well organized and had a great selection. We spent at least an hour looking at the antique store that houses many different vendors. We ate freshly made cinnamon rolls from the corner bakery. We really enjoyed the vibe of the area and will be back.
If you are in the town and the area, I recommend to stop here and visit Historic downtown Grand Junction. My husband and I both liked this area and the local stores and restaurants. It is such a cute little town.
Downtown Grand Junction Colorado is a vibrant, diverse fun experience. Make your way to Small Mall on Main, 558 Main Street for a super fun shopping experience..It's over 30 local vendors under one roof!
Being there at a cold winters day was most likely different than on a summers day. It was a bit empty as it was cold, but I thing it will be a very nice place on a summers day. At least it was not all done for cars but there were room for walking down the main street.
Surfin’ Salmon food truck @downtowngjfarmersmarket — #defworthtrying! Portobello mushroom tacos — simply scrumptious. Great service, great value, great hot sauce bar. Walked across the street to enjoy some live music & my favorite dragonz. Heavenly.
SO much local art (there is a specific program name, which I forget). Our local friends took us visitors up and down the main street. We even ran into a bagpipe and Celtic dancers group - best I've ever heard. I could've used a public restroom or two - I saw the Sign but not the place. On a weekday evening the parking was easy, convenient and free. Of course, the art was the best part.

One of my favorite places to bring my niece's (ages 5 & 8) and they absolutely love it! There are all types of exotic animals that have either been rescued, surrendered, or brought in by authorities and won't survive in the world so I think this place is doing such a nice thing for the animals. The staff is also extremely informative and the tour is so educational for the kids (and for me!) They're a nonprofit so I don't think the cost is very much at all ($6 for kids $9 for adults) I highly recommend it here!
What a great experience! Had so much fun with my family from out of town and my 3 year old daughter. Will go back probably once a month. Great prices for what we got to do and see, and the gift shop was great. Cute toys and shirt and jewlery. Hope they get more animals/reptiles soon!
My wife and I took our three year old neice here and she loved it! The grown-up's also had a great time. Being able to touch and interact with the animals was great but the real stars are the tour guides who are extremely knowledgeable. Great time for the whole family!
This place was really cool. Lots of animals to see and some to touch too! A staff member walks you all around & teaches you about each 1. Jessica walked my family around and was very patient with my little ones (1 & 2).
We really enjoyed it,they gave us alot of information and fun facts!
Great little place to learn about different species and get some hands on experience. Not for the squemish. See rare species not usually found in the local zoo.
This was absolutely a great experience! A day well spent for the hubby being off from work. Our tour guide was a young woman, she wears glasses and had short dark hair, she was absolutely wonderful! She was very informative, very knowledgeable, handled the kids very well, she was VERY patient with them and kind, though she only had to deal with 2, the other child who looked only 3 or 4 was let's say, the absolute, total opposite from VERY well behaved child, I give our tour guide MAJOR PROPS for showing such self restraint and remaining professional the entire time! She made the experience that much more fun and interesting for us! The rest of the staff were just as pleasant. I highly recommend this place for a family outing, the kids would love it!
Such a wide variety of animals, and our tour guide was pretty awesome!

I came here for an event! The grounds are beautiful and it feels a little like Europe, but here in the Grand Valley. They have some lavender planted and nice outdoor spaces. There's a bar inside the event space and they can adapt to your needs with tables, etc. It was a lovely event for the CU/CMU engineering students!
Stayed for a night. The room was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable. The view was so good. Close to Colorado monument. I felt like stayed in a resort for price of Holiday Inn. Would stay again.
We had the pleasure of visiting yesterday! The tasting room was lovely, the grounds have spectacular views! The wine was fantastic & the tasting room staff was friendly, knowledgeable with the perfect amount of humor! It was the best finish after driving the Colorado National Monument.
I can not say enough great things about this place! Me and my wife stayed in the chateau for a weekend wedding, and the staff was amazing! The wine was delicious, the property beautiful, the room clean and spacious, and the winery is perfectly located for access for the monument, hiking, and downtown Grand Junction. When we had a medical emergency that caused us to stay an extra night the entire staff was unbelievably accommodating and understanding. Thank you so much for the hospitality!
We had such a wonderful visit here! The staff were incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable about all the wines they offered. We were impressed with the pricing of the wine tasting and enjoyed every one of the wines. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. Definitely recommend!
We did the flight and found our favorite, ordered two glasses and our server pointed out getting a bottle instead was more reasonable. Then she kept our bottle cold until we were ready to leave. And it’s a beautiful location.
What a quaint winery. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Beautiful facility. We needed up having some wine shipped. It was difficult to choose which was the best, we managed to narrow it down to six. Don’t miss this stop, worth the time. EDITED—we received our wine. Very nicely packaged and just as delicious as we tasted. Thank you Two Rivers & staff.
Good wine, moderate prices, nice tasting room. An enjoyable experience overall. Nice second room with tables. Only local winery located in Grand Junction that I know about. All the other wineries are in Palisade and clifton. There are some tasting rooms in downtown Grand Junction come I think.

A nice little museum of the history of Colordo focusing on Grand Junction. A lot of unique little displays. Highly recommend if you want to learn the history of Grand Junction.
The volunteer at the desk was informative and helpful. We enjoyed learning more about Western history and the Indian tribes who lived nearby.
I had a little time while I was visiting Grand Junction so I popped into this Museum. I was very surprised with everything they had guns, swords, an old stagecoach you can sit in. I hope to bring my little girl next time I think she would really enjoy it. If you go be sure to try the morse code machine and see what words you can make, I sat there for probably 10 to 15 minutes playing. Highly recommend this Museum if you have some extra time.
Lots of Old West History and a 4 story high Observation Deck (with elevator) worth going to
A good history museum about how and what was in this place 100 plus/minus years. I think 1-2 hours is enough and if you are in this town and thinking where to go, then this will be a good educational place. $7 for admission per person is an excellent price. There is also a tower at the museum where you can climb the stairs to the top and see the city from above. You can see the view in one of the videos
You cannot beat the deal this smaller place offers. Been to a few museums and zoos this trip and this place still beats them all for the price. Heck yes stop here for the $7. Dont forget to ride the elevator to the top of the tower. Great views. Its about 7 or 8 stories high so be patient with the elevator. It show only 3 levels so dont let that fool you.
Nice little museum that has a lot of interesting exhibits. There was a nice little gift store as well. We spent about an hour here and did enjoy the interactive displays. We would like to see the new mine exhibit when that is finished.
I took my Daughter Mariah with me to view the museum. We have been here on the Western Slope for a lot of year's. But this was the year we have done two new museum's. The employees were very knowledgeable about the Product's. The tower was spectacular, with view's from all angles. Come and learn about the town of Grand Junction, when the past meets the future.

This kids' playground is an absolute gem for families looking for a safe, fun, and engaging place for children to play. Spread out across a spacious area, the playground offers a wide variety of equipment that caters to kids of all ages. There are several slides of different sizes, swings, climbing structures, and even a sandpit, giving children plenty of options to explore and enjoy. For those who love physical challenges, the obstacle courses and rope climbing sections are fantastic for building strength and coordination. The playground is well-maintained and kept clean, which is a big plus for parents who want a safe and hygienic environment for their kids. The ground is covered with soft, cushioned material, minimizing the risk of injury from falls. There are plenty of shaded areas with benches, perfect for parents to relax while keeping an eye on their kids. The layout of the playground ensures that kids have enough space to run around freely without feeling crowded. One of the standout features is the ample green space surrounding the playground, making it feel more open and connected to nature. This is a great spot for picnics, with plenty of shade and tables available. Overall, this playground provides a well-rounded experience that keeps kids entertained while giving parents peace of mind. Highly recommended for a family day out!
This is the best playground park we have been too. They have plenty of space for parties. Lots of different playground equipment. And nice bathrooms . I didn't even take pictures of it all.
It's a great park for pickleball, it has a dog run, baseball field, soccer field, handball court, picnic area, gazebos, a pond, tennis courts and it's very convenient to get to. It's a very quiet nice place to hang out. There is plenty of parking spots. Plus there are some very quiet places also. No matter what you want to do you should be able to do it here.
Huge park with lots to do, baseball and soccer fields, street hockey rink, basketball court, volleyball area, huge playground for kids, grills, and tables, bathrooms. There's also a couple nice little ponds to walk around.
Great park for a wide range of ages. Nestled in a sports field complex they have two playgrounds that are divided by age group. One is for 2-5 and the other is for 5-12. They even offer a wheelchair swing! There is a small duck pond next to the playground so bring some bread to feed the 🦆 if you wish! Decent amount of shade on the structure, covered picnic area, clean bathrooms.
This is a very nice, new park. We had a pull through and the site was very level, well groomed with smooth gravel, concrete patio with fireplace, and the grass lawn was well maintained. The small dog park was close to our site and was clean. There is another large dog park but we didn't use it. Staff was friendly and helpful. It is very close to I-70, but surpritje noise was not that bad. They have some privacy fence so think that helps a lot. Easy access, but use the directions the park recommends and not the route Google maps suggests if coming in from the west.
Go to place to bring little ones. The kids love it. Nice walking paths, soccer fields, duck ponds, baseball/softball fields with their own separate playground, main playground has a separate area for smaller kids. Plenty of parking around the park.
This is a great park, and has just about any sports activity you're looking for. I went for the dog park, which has 3 different sections and has not been busy anytime I've gone there. Right off the highway for those traveling through whose pups need a run out. Not used to parks like this where I come from.

I haven’t been to Santa Fe in 12 years and I was mostly in the mountains outside of town when I was there. BUT I remember it being one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever visited and I’ve been wanting to go back since. I was enamored by the whole area. Just stunning
