Loved it. Friendly staff and great variety of art work. And a wonderful free opportunity to enjoy this beautiful facility.
Exceptional college museum. The exhibits and curation were wonderful on the day we visited. Helpful, friendly docents and a nice little museum shop.
I LOVED this museum!! I enjoyed it tremedously! It was free. The lady who works there was super nice and helpful. The museum has an incredibly interesting collection! Very high quality! I absolutely loved the Assyrian/Babilonian bas-reliefs. They also colored them with pointed lights - something I've never seen before. It was breathtaking. I loved the collection of unique and girgeous handmade baskets. It was very interesting to learn about the women who made them. Very unique. And of course, the European art! Beautiful collection!! I want to come back and enjoy it again! Also, I have to say that their gift shop had things that I haven't seen anywhere before. Very unique things - crafts, games, books, accessoiries, etc. Very different. HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO VISIT this museum!
They had a collection of black-and-white photos from the 1940s in Maine, it was interesting to peep into the life and times.
Viewed fantastic photography and painting exhibitions on first floor. The photos from Gordon Parks and John McKeen were enlightening. I couldn't decide which was my favorite Ann Craven moon. Wonderful museum with friendly and helpful staff. Will head for floors 2 and 3 soon.
A fantastic art museum that is open and free to the public with donations accepted. The collection was built in part by the founder of Bowdoin College. It’s a nice combination of early American and European, some modern, and with a smattering of artifacts and works from ancient Egyptian times to Oceana. Not an overwhelming place, manageable for an afternoon stroll, and there’s a great room to practice your echo echo or overtone singing in:).
Always a pleasure to visit this elegant classic building. Free admission; currently has a temporary photography exhibit, and there are two interesting Assyrian bas-reliefs colored via a projector.
Most of the art on the first floor is only photography. If that's your interest you'll be happy. There are some historic artifacts on the second floor. But the real sight is the architecture of the buildings. It's quite impressive.

Christmas in July was just jolly! My nine-year-old son laughed and laughed at their production of "The Story of the Nutcracker!" The cast posed for photos after the show!
We loved the production, cast, orchestra and the entire experience. Just attempted to watch the original movie and shut it off. This is an outstanding opportunity to live, laugh and feel alive. All my love to the entirety that made this happen. Big Loves ❤️ LnS Coy
Lovely theater and not too large so there really aren't bad seats. Also, in the Orchestra section is stadium seating so you can see very well. They also have a shuttle that takes you right to the theater.
Great performers, fun shows! My wife and I have had a subscription (4 shows each summer) for several years. Inevitably we like some more than others but we are never disappointed.
Always a delight to see a show at MSMT. West Side Story was fabulous this year. We have been coming to shows for more than 40 years!
Saw Anastasia at Maine State Music Theater, it was a great musical with an enthusiastic and talented cast. The venue is perfect for a small theater, great acoustics and great sight lines.
Broadway quality musical theater in Brunswick Maine. Professional theater not just summer stock. World and regional premier shows. Equity shop for performers, technical staff, and a training institute for young interns starting their careers. 610 seat theater on Bowdoin College campus is air conditioned, has an elevator, handicap seating, sensory performances, Theater for Young Audiences and more packed into 12 weeks early June through August. A must go.
Love this venue. Been going here and watching different theater since I was a child (55 years)

Hands down one of the best small liberal arts schools in our nation that is quietly producing effective leaders. Values, community, academics, tradition rooted in pragmatic Maine problem solving and common good orientation, founded before Maine was a state!
Nice campus. Walked around the campus on a Sunday afternoon. Buildings appear to be be locked as I saw students using a badge/fob to open the doors.
Wish the school did more to help students financially. Maybe dedicating a larger portion for student financial aid is better than other nonessential items.
This is a fine college by almost any standard. Our son graduated in 2007 with a major in biology, minor in economics, and had a wonderful experience. His only regret is not taking full advantage of the great outdoor club. We moved nearby the college after many years in England because the school plays such a positive role in the quality of life in neighboring communities. Visitors are welcome on campus for nearly all cultural and sporting events, at no cost, very unusual. In recent years the women's basketball team has been one of the best Division III teams in the country, always fun to watch. Field hockey and ice hockey teams are also of note. The college has wonderful programs for auditing classes and for local families to serve as host parents for students from far away, both of which we enjoy a great deal. High quality food is served on campus and a fine learning experience for the right students. A bit too liberal for my tastes but that's the direction many schools have turned in recent years. Overall it's a wonderful school turning out fine young people, including superstars like Reed Hastings, co-founder and CEO of Netflix.
The art museum was awesome! It's free to the public. If you're in the area it's worth a stop.
Beautiful campus! We visited the bookstore and chatted with staff. They were very friendly!
Great campus and art museum!

Our guided tour experience was fantastic. I had a pretty good knowledge of Chamberlain the military leader before the tour but I had a much better understanding of the man afterwards. There is a gift shop on site, too.
A really interesting museum about one of American history’s most fascinating characters. I have long been interested in Joshua Chamberlain, so could not pass up the opportunity to stop by this museum (Chamberlain’s home) on my way through Maine. The museum offers tours—they are included with the $15 price of admission—and I was given a personal and informative tour by an incredibly knowledgeable tour guide named Dana Carey. The tour takes you through each room of the house, where, in each case, different stories are related and Chamberlain’s life unfolds. Our tour lasted almost an hour and a half! The museum is filled with original furniture and memorabilia from Chamberlain‘s life, which were fascinating to see up close. Highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area, or making the drive if you’re not!
My friend and I love the Joshua Chamberlain Museum! It was my third visit. His role at Little Round Top during the three days at Gettysburg was extremely important and not a frequently used strategy. His home in Brunswick, ME is lovely to walk through - the many kinds of wood used, wall paper, colors, furnishings, etc. The house was moved from the back of the street to the front then first floor raised to second story and a new first floor constructed! This museum is a must see!
Before visiting I knew a fair amount about Chamberlain as a general and a bit as a politician. But visiting his home taught me a lot about Chamberlain as a human being. Being in the same space he lived in, seeing some of the design choices and changes he made to the house make Chamberlain a much more "real" person. Our guide made the visit incredibly informative and enjoyable, and it's clear that all who participate in keeping it open to the public take tremendous pride in what they do. I'd also recommend taking the walking tour of Bowdoin College (we arrived about an hour early so we did this before the tour of the house). The Museum has an easy-to-follow map which highlights some of the places in the College which relate to Chamberlain.
This was a great tour, I learned a lot of things I did not know about Gen. Chamberlin. The home’s architecture is always very beautiful. I took the time to drive under 5mins to the cemetery where he is buried, I would recommend doing this also!
It was a great tour! Today, Troy took us on a tour of the Chamberlain House and asked us if there was any specific time period we were interested in. I requested his post-war period and my wife asked for insight into their domestic life. We learned Joshua Chamberlain was very futuristic and thought 2-3, even 4 generations ahead. He championed military readiness, co-ed college enrollment, and redemptive/reconciliation minded government. I highly recommend taking advantage of this great resource and the knowledgeable docents. Go out of your way to visit! (During COVID, schedule an appointment)
Amazing museum! Free for military. Even knowing quite a bit about Chamberlain already, I learned a lot. My wife enjoyed it even though she usually is less than enthusiastic about history. You have to tour with a guide, and it helps bring the old house to life as they relate fascinating details and answer questions. Highly recommended!
We were looking forward to touring the home, but spent 30 minutes in one empty room learning the family tree and then got to see our 2nd room where Longfellow lived. At this point, we felt it best to leave because we knew the tour before us had gone 1hour and 45 minutes and so we left. Guide was too knowledgeable and as a result was long winded.

I popped in for a snack last night. The store was quiet but clean and well lighted. It's improved considerably since it was a Rite Aid. The prices are generally high here so I look for sales. The attendant was super friendly and prompt, always appreciated.
I went in to pick up two prescriptions. One was ready the other I knew I'd need to wait on. I walked up to the desk with no wait. The staff were all very friendly. I got my 1st prescription right away after verifying information. The 2nd I was told I'd need to wait. I sat down in the chairs to wait. Within 5 mins I was told it was ready. I was extremely surprised. The Pharmacy Techs (Jeannette and Shelley) were so nice. The pharmacist was efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable. Thank you Walgreens pharmacy team! Visited: May 20, 2025
I go in frequently and the guy that works there Trevor is always so helpful!! He helped me find the compression socks and made my whole day! I can’t thank Walgreens enough for having such a sweet actually helpful worker there who always makes me laugh!
Employees are kind and sweet, store is clean pharmacy hours and service is wonderful, there’s this pharmacist who’s an older lady with short hair who’s work there for as long as I can remember, she always helps and gives the best advice! 10/10 recommend this store and pharmacy.
* Location is okay, the area can be very busy. * Parking is decent. * Hours, and selection are consistent with the chain. * Went to the pharmacy, the computer system is difficult at best, the customer service is really sweet, helpful, and kind.
Walgreens store and pharmacy staff are attentive to their customers' needs. They strive to support customers in accessing discounts making medications more affordable.
FedEx drop, done it before. Lady said it was “too big for my box”. The “box” is a cabinet, empty at the time. It would have fit. She was quick to tell me to go to not the Walgreens in Bath but some private company. Nah. Made me wonder if it’s a setup.
I will use this store only as a last resort. I was on hold for 40" when I got a recording that they were taking a meal break for 20". Earlier I had called the pharmacist about an issue with my RX and I was told I could pick it up on Friday. I went in Friday afternoon and it was not ready. I returned to the store near closing and they only had part of the Rx ready saying I would have to return again. The website said there was a drive through and there isn't. I had a recent procedure on my foot and knee and cannot stand for long. I used this store as I believed the website that it had a drive through. Remarkably bad service.

Great little museum with some surprisingly in-depth information on Peary et.al.'s arctic exploration, the Inuit who supported them, and Inuit clothing crafts and art work. Definitely worth a stop
Cool little college museum. Highlights the life and culture of indigenous people in the far north. Absolutely amazing that anyone would ever figure out a way to live, let alone thrive in the far north.
The Peary–MacMillan Arctic Museum at Bowdoin has recently transformed into one of Maine’s most striking cultural spaces. Now housed in the new Gibbons Center for Arctic Studies, the building itself reflects its mission—built with sustainable mass timber and designed with an iceberg-like silhouette. It’s the only museum in the U.S. dedicated solely to Arctic exploration and culture, free to visit and open to the public. Inside, the museum bridges past and present. Artifacts from Robert Peary and Donald MacMillan’s expeditions sit alongside Inuit art and oral histories, showing how exploration was never a solitary pursuit but one deeply connected to Indigenous knowledge. The collection includes everything from sledges and historic photographs to contemporary fashion and bold graphic prints from Inuit artists. Two major exhibits define the current moment: Printed Textiles from Kinngait Studios, which uncovers mid-century Inuit fabric design, and At Home in the North, where traditional tools are paired with modern innovations like SmartBUOY technology. Together, they tell a story that’s as much about resilience and adaptation as it is about discovery. #brunswickmaine #arcticmuseum #bowdoincollege #inuitart #mainehistory
Small but unique museum dedicated to Arctic explorers, Inuit culture and environmental change over time.
My boyfriend and i went here on our first date and had the best time. it provided plenty of conversational content, we learned quite a bit and laughed until we cried. celebrating 6 months together this week. highly recommend.
Very interesting and informative. Definitely recommend for further studies on Arctic conditions and history. Thank you to all who have braved and studied this land and shared their experiences.
A gem of a museum with a mix of history and art from polar exploration by Peary, Henson, and McMillan. Fascinating videos of Arctic exploration from the early 20th Century. A knowledgeable docent answered questions and shared stories. I had no idea of Bowdoin College's close connection to Arctic exploration. Note also that the ship Bowdoin was built at Hodgon's in Boothbay Harbor for polar exploration and is still in use. The Windjammer Emporium (a clothing store in Boothbay Harbor) has a related exhibit in the back of the store with additional film footage of McMillan. I was able to see both in one day.
Very small but thoughtful museum where you can learn about inuit culture and articles expeditions.
