Have fun

Google review

(原文) The Grand Canyon South Rim walk is an unforgettable experience, offering some of the most breathtaking views you'll ever see.

(原文) this is a great and easy to walk trail. it was fun learning more about the history of the canyon. i think this trail is also very interesting for children. also pretty cool actually seeing stones/rocks which a millions of years old. this trail leads to rim trail to hermits rest. along the trail you can jump onto the red shuttle bus line.

(原文) Trail of Time on the Grand Canyon South Rim takes you through 2 billion years of geological history in something less than a mile. Medallions mark varying time periods, with time intervals getting longer further back in history. Smaller markers in between have a penny, dime, or other coin. The signage provides nice information that connects with the landscape in view. Especially nice are the sample rock samples with polished faces. The trail is wheelchair accessible and paved the entire way. Sometimes the trail has a parallel trail getting walkers closer to the edge of the rim. At points, the trail has overlooks with safety rails while many locations count on common sense to not tumble over the edge. Plenty of people have dogs on the trail. Didn’t see many bikers and can imagine it would be hard to ride the trail with big crowds. Trail mostly level.

I probably stopped at about six viewpoints from the kabob hike/viewpoint, but there were so many other viewpoints and stops to see along the way as well, unfortunately I was running out of time and sunlight. At hermits rest there’s this viewpoint then there’s a really big cool looking hike that I didn’t get to on but it looked amazing, it will take you further west and down the canyon! There were bathrooms here and a gift shop! Plenty of parking too. I posted some of the “few” things I brought while there, lots of cool stickers and shirts and other cool finds there too. If you’re heading to this this is the furthest point you can drive on the south side visit. If your here I highly recommend coming down this far to see this or hike and the all the other amazing view points on the way. If your here I have time as well I would recommend attempting the hike or some it! The bus route can and will bring you down this far as well if you needed that. Helpful people working inside the gift shop if you had any questions as well. Enjoy!

😅 (原文) A Scenic Hike, A Historic Fireplace… and a Slight Oops 😅 Hermit’s Rest — what a name, right? Sounds like you’re about to uncover some ancient, mystical hideaway. Well, spoiler alert: it’s basically a cute old stone house with snacks and souvenirs. BUT — getting there? Totally worth it. The hike out was absolutely gorgeous — nature in full HD. Birds, squirrels, chipmunks, lizards doing their little push-ups... even a deer or two giving us the classic Grand Canyon side-eye. The trail was peaceful, filled with shade, sweeping views, and that kind of crisp air that makes you question your life in the city. Now, Hermit’s Rest itself? Let’s just say the journey was the real reward. It’s a charming little stop with history and character, but not exactly mind-blowing. Still, it felt great to kick back for a bit, grab a cold drink, and imagine what it must’ve been like to live out there as a legit Hermit. Small confession, though... I may or may not have accidentally leaned on Hermit’s historic fireplace (yes, that fireplace), and a few ancient stones may or may not have crumbled off. 😬 But I swear I tried to put them back as best as I could! If the fireplace looks extra rustic now — that might be on me. Sorry, Hermit. All in all? 10/10 would do again. A great hike, beautiful nature, and just the right amount of unintentional vandalism. Bring water, bring snacks, and maybe don’t lean on 100-year-old structures. 😅

(原文) Hermit Rest is the western edge of the park and is a tranquil oasis nestled among the towering pine trees of the Grand Canyon's South Rim. The area is surrounded by the natural beauty of one of the world's most iconic wonders. Here you will find vault toilets, picnic areas, hiking trails, viewpoints, a snack bar and of course, a gift shop, we cannot forget that. After arriving on foot or shuttle bus, walk west along the path to the Hermit rest house, which is now the gift shop. Make sure to read the numerous informational bulletin boards along the walkway for more information about the location and its background. If you walk a little further past the rest house, you just might get luck and spot some of the local wildlife, especially during the early morning or late afternoon hours.

(原文) One of the best places in the entire world. Just a reminder that the hike to get here and back is NOT easy. Coming down here is like a 70 story skyscraper. However, once you get down there, you did it. You have the option to hike all the way down to the bottom of the canyon, but it’s not recommended to do in one day. If you’re looking for a challenging yet moderate hike, this is the best place to stop. Plus, the views are amazing! Overall, would definitely recommend if you’re healthy.
Landon B — Google review
(原文) Tips from a mediocre hiker: GO EARLY! It’s an oven below the rim and once the sun passes over the cliffs (mid morning/early afternoon) you won’t be able to escape the blazing heat. It can easily feel above 100 below the rim. Stay hydrated (preferably a few days or maybe even a week prior to the hike) but include electrolytes - this part is very important. I give five stars for the view, but I would keep in mind this is not an easy trail. Although it is marked, it is not paved, and it can be uneven and steep. Not ideal for people with knee, ankle, or back issues. I would also warn against hiking this trail if you have high blood pressure or heart problems, particularly in the afternoon.

💫 (原文) Grandview Point at the Grand Canyon is one of the most breathtaking viewpoints you’ll ever see in your life. 🏜️✨ The name says it all — the view is truly grand. Standing there, you feel the full scale and silence of the canyon — endless layers of color, light, and shadow stretching as far as the eye can see. It’s one of those places that makes you stop, forget about everything, and just breathe. This spot is less crowded than some of the more popular overlooks like Mather Point, which makes it even more special. You can actually hear the wind and the echo of the canyon. It’s perfect for sunrise or sunset — the light completely transforms the landscape. 🌅 There’s also a hiking trail starting from here (the Grandview Trail), but it’s quite steep, so make sure you have proper shoes and water if you decide to go down. If you want to truly feel the spirit of the Grand Canyon — vast, timeless, and humbling — Grandview Point is the place. Absolutely unforgettable. 💫

(原文) This is one of the more popular and prominent viewpoints along the Desert View Drive in Grand Canyon National Park. From this location you can walk out to several different outcrops, each providing a different and spectacular view of the vistas of the Colorado River, which were carved out of this massive canyon over millions of years. From the views to the east, you can see the vast expanse of the canyon, while to the west, the rugged landscape stretches towards the horizon. The viewpoint is named after the Mojave tribe, a Native American group that once inhabited the region. This is also a special stop for photographers and nature enthusiasts and is also a great spot for sunrise and sunset viewing, when the canyon's rust-hued rocks are bathed in golden sunlight. Access to this location is possible by hiking on the Rim Trail or riding the Park Services’ shuttle bus system from March to November. During the months of December to the end of February you can drive your personal vehicle but recommend checking the Park Services website for any changes.

As a result, you can find plenty of seashell and fish fossils embedded in the rocks. It’s also a fun activity to go fossil hunting with kids and enjoy some hands-on discovery together. Just remember, any fossils you find must be left where they are.

(原文) Mohave Point offers one of the most breathtaking views in the Grand Canyon. This spot is truly unforgettable, especially at sunset. The way the light hits the layers of the canyon walls, casting shadows and bringing out the reds, oranges, and purples, is absolutely mesmerizing. It’s quieter than some of the more popular points like Hopi or Mather, which makes the experience feel more peaceful and personal. From Mohave Point, you get incredible panoramic views, including a clear look at the Colorado River winding far below. On a clear day, you can even see small sections of rapids. The viewpoint is part of the Hermit Road route, accessible by shuttle bus (or bike/walking if you're up for it), and it's definitely worth the short ride. I recommend going about an hour before sunset to get a good spot and enjoy how the colors change minute by minute. Bring a camera — or just sit and soak it all in. This is one of those places where photos don't do it justice. Overall, Mohave Point is a must-stop if you're exploring the South Rim. Peaceful, dramatic, and full of natural beauty — it’s one of my favorite places in the entire Grand Canyon.

I hiked 3.5 miles down the bright angel trail from the South Village trailhead, years ago, hiking the trail from either side takes some detailed planning. (原文) I highly recommend the Rim Trail for all accessibility and experience levels. Its the perfect morning trail for a one day visit in the park, complete with history, wildlife, and tons of information so I could understand what I was taking in. The edge sits at an elevation of 7,129 ft and is usually cooler than the canyon by about 30 degrees Fahrenheit (17 degrees Celsius). So, in summer after sunrise it was already getting close to 100 degrees Fahrenheit by the time I started hiking, just for a frame of reference. From Mather, I first saw signs to look down and see the Colorado and the Suspension Bridge. Then, it was a clear enough day at the Yavapai Geology Museum that I could see Mt Trumbull 62 miles away. Next I hit the educational main event, the Trail of Time. So well curated with explanation and markers setting the pace of time, along with samples from the geological layers being referenced. The scientific research shared is presented so well. I could do a whole video on what I learned from this one section of trail. Stop to read and take in the samples. It’s so worth it. And believe me, you’re going to stop anyway for the views. There will be a couple of forks in the trail for accessibility sake, but they always link back up. I finished The Trail of Time and headed on to see more Park and Pre-Park history in the Village, which began to be developed in the 1890’s. All in all, I clocked in at just 3.5 miles, from Mather Point to Bright Angel Trailhead. I recommend it highly, especially to those who need amenities and accessibility along the trail.

(原文) Easy 3 miles down (about 2 hours since we stopped for pictures along the way) and a pretty strenuous 3 miles up (about 1.5 hours of nonstop uphill). Amazing views the whole way and well worth the time and effort. Pass Ooh Aah Point and Cedar Ridge on the way down (Cedar Ridge has a bathroom) Beware of not used to altitude or longer hikes!
Jarrett S — Google review
(原文) Bathrooms and non-potable water available here. A good spot to stop as you're about 2/3 down to the river. It's also the confluence of the South Kaibab and Tonto Trails. There is a small shelter to here to get some shade. Otherwise, it's a very exposed spot to the sun and wind.

(原文) Skeleton Point is a great spot to take a break and soak in some incredible views before the trail gets tougher. From here, you can finally see the Colorado River in the distance, which is pretty rewarding. But I found the stretch between Skeleton Point and the Tip Off to be the most challenging part of the hike, lots of switchbacks and a steady descent that really works your legs. It’s beautiful, but definitely the section where you’ll want to pace yourself and make sure you’ve got enough water.

(原文) As the brochure mentioned, this would be the longest day hike you could undertake. My hubby (40) and I (35) were exhausted afterward! However, you get to experience different views from the rim and "feel" all the layers of millions of years of geological strata. I wouldn't say this point offers the best view of the Colorado River since we could see more of it from the Desert View. The hike took us 5.5 hours, with about 30 minutes stopped at Cedar Ridge and another 40 minutes at Skeleton Point for a snack break. Considering all the stops, the actual walking time would have been 4 hours, but breaks are necessary to catch your breath, eat, hydrate, and take lots of pictures while enjoying the view. So, 1) plan the hike for 6 hours; 2) I personally think hiking poles are a must for this 6-mile hike; 3) bring plenty of water and snacks; 4) and ENJOY! * We started at 7am, but definitely would start earlier if possible. The mornign shade was super helpful! Coming back was hard with the full Sun exposure!!

(原文) You are going deep and down to the canyon, then you come back. 600 meters down, 600 meters up. It is hard trail, do not forget to take at least 3 liters of water for each. We did it in 4:30 hours with a lunch enjoying the views. Keep in mind, from the Cedar Ridge there are almost no shadows until you reach Skeletons point. Also, go a minute down beyond the Skeletons point to get into shadow, there the view is even better.

(原文) Third major checkpoint you’ll come across on your descent down. Personally it was underwhelming for the entire journey we took, but couldn’t go wrong with the exceptional views from all sides and the entire way through. Took my friend and I about 2 hours to reach this point from the start of the trail. Come prepared with plenty of water and snacks so you can make it down here and all the way back up!

(原文) The hike wasn't too bad at all. It took about 3.5 hrs round trip including stopping for pictures along the way and at least 30 minutes at Skeleton Point. I would have loved to go further but we just didn't start early enough. We started somewhere around 6:30-7:30am and the temp was fine. Definitely was getting hot on the way back but fine (high was 95 that day). Trail is very well maintained and not that steep or tough. I carried 4 liters of water and I don't think I even made it through 3 and I drink a lot of water. There are restrooms about half way down at a point that I can't remember the name but you will see them.

I wasn't sure how tough it would be to walk that far down into the canyon and have to walk back out. But it was well worth it for the views. (原文) So glad we were able to get out here for sunset and again for sunrise. Camped at Indian Garden for the night which is the only way it’s possible unless you hike 4 hours in the dark. The trail intersection is in Indian Gardens Campground and it’s a little tricky to find but there are signs that show you where to cross the creek. Easy and very beautiful hike out to the point with great views up and down the canyon from a mid elevation which is awesome!

(原文) This hike is the best bang-for-the-buck at Grand canyon national Park. The entire hike is around 12.2 miles. And like the sign says on the way down, down is optional up is mandatory. We left at noon and finished at 6 p.m. just in time for sunset. The hike down Bright Angel trail is well laid-out switchbacks. The switchbacks are not steep but there are 4.6 miles of them. When You reach Indian garden you make a left to reach plateau point. The actual hike to plateau point from Indian garden is flat and scenic. I would describe it like a meadow with a killer review in front and behind. When you get past the electrical box the lookout point is only a couple hundred yards further. The lookout point has a nice railing, and it is needed because you're about 500 feet above the Colorado River. From the top of the south rim the trail that leads to plateau point is the is very visible. Don't miss this hike.

(原文) Fantastic view! We did a day hike to Plateau Point from Bright Angel Lodge. I would not recommend the average person do the same. We were sore for more than a day after and I’d like to think we’re pretty fit people. We started around 8am and got back around 730p for the 12.75 mi round trip. It took us about 5 hours to get to Plateau Point, spent about an hour there for lunch, and then another 5 hours to get back. We took our time heading down and stayed to enjoy the view knowing that we were prepared to hike at night. By the time we headed back up around 2:30, there were very few people on the trail - aside from the campground, we maybe ran into 3 others the rest of the night. I think sunset was around 5 and by 6, it was completely dark, so if you’re night hiking, you absolutely need a light. Trail is well maintained and the path is very obvious. A lot of switchbacks, so bring some poles if you have bad joints. Bathrooms (at 1.5 mi, 3 mi, and campground) were about what you’d expect at a park in the middle of a trail. Either way, I appreciate not having to find an off trail spot to do my business. Water was off at all locations except for the campground. It was pretty chilly though, so we didn’t go through our water as fast as we might have in the heat. Mules passed once on our hike and their droppings are everywhere stopping at the campground. We saw a bunch of deer, including some baby ones. Super cute. They didn’t seem afraid of humans, but we gave them space to do their thing.

It's roughly 5 miles from the trail head on the South Rim to Indian Garden where there is reliable water, shade, campground and ranger station. From there it is 1.5 miles to Plateau Point on mostly level ground on the Tonto Plateau. This hike is perhaps the best long day hike in the canyon for anyone wanting to experience the most that hiking below rim has to offer in a day hike.

Started the hike at 6.30 AM and it took us 3 hours downhill and 5 hours uphill (mid-June, at 11AM 90°F at Indian Garden, leave early!). Spent almost an hour at Plateau Point and half the time we were there completely alone! It's flat from Indian Garden to here, the steepest part is between the Lodge and the 1.5 mile rest house. Make sure to bring lots of water with you but there's no need to pack more than 2 liters, every 1.5 miles there's a drinkable water fountain where you can refill your bottles and wet your clothes and head to cool down. Breathtaking views of both the river and the canyon walls around you.

(原文) Part of the south kabob hike. It’s about 1.5 miles down the canyon to make it here. If you made it to Aah Ohh point, definitely go the little extra down the canyon to come here. You get closer to the landmark view and the trail has some super open parts at this area to see the canyon from different perspectives and such. There are some really cool old trees and many viewpoints and areas to hangout here too! Got to see some park works with miles riding up the trail as well. If there near you or trying to pass make sure to give them enough space and respect them.

(原文) GO EARLY! It’s an oven below the rim and once the sun passes over the cliffs (mid morning/early afternoon) you won’t be able to escape the blazing heat. It can easily feel above 100 below the rim. Stay hydrated (preferably a few days or maybe even a week prior to the hike) but include electrolytes - this is important! This is not your average hike. Do your research on common mistakes and don’t forget downhill feels a lot different than coming back uphill, which you most certainly have to do. No dogs allowed. Take a backpack with plenty of hydration and a snack. Sitting in the shade at Cedar Ridge Point enjoying an apple and mixed nuts while taking in the view was one of the best experiences. We felt accomplished and prepared ourselves for the hike back, gaining over 1000 feet in elevation. There are no water sources on the trail itself, so you’ll need to bring your own. Parking is limited and not allowed at the trailhead, use the shuttle (it’s free). It’s 1.5 miles each way. It’s not easy, but it’s doable. I do not recommend it for people with ankle, knee, or back issues. I would also be hesitant to recommend this trail for anybody with high blood pressure or heart issues, especially in the heat of the day. I give 5 stars for the scenic views. But keep in mind this is not a paved trail, it’s marked, but rocky and can be uneven.
