Unbelievably disappointing — do NOT stay at Villa Poseidon
Our experience at Villa Poseidon was so appalling that I feel obligated to warn others. For a huge chunk of money, we expected basic hospitality and cleanliness — we received neither.
Day 1:
We were told at check-in that breakfast was not included, even though we had specifically paid for a package that included it. Only after we insisted and the staff double-checked were we told it was included. We were promised a breakfast menu would be prepared for us to order for the next morning — that never happened.
Upon entering our room, we noticed a significant ant infestation in one corner. We chose not to complain immediately (a mistake in hindsight), having read previous reviews suggesting that complaints go unresolved. That night, there was still no menu provided for breakfast to be filled out for the next day.
Day 2:
We went down in the morning and were again told our booking did not include breakfast. We had to re-explain everything to the same gentleman from the night before, who claimed he had once again “made a mistake.” After more back and forth, we were begrudgingly offered the bare minimum of a menu: just a coffee and croissant — no proper options, no apology. For context: we paid less in Amalfi for an incredible full breakfast buffet.
Even worse, an elderly woman was tasked with serving us — it felt exploitative and frankly heartbreaking.
Later that day, we returned to find our room had not been cleaned. After another long, hot day, we just wanted to relax — instead, we came back to even more ants.
Day 3:
Still no room cleaning. We had had enough, and took a ferry elsewhere to escape the situation. When we returned that evening and raised the issue again, the hotel’s response was to blame us, asking if we had eaten in the room — as if that justifies not cleaning it for two entire days.
Ironically, previous guests mentioned the hotel actually encourages eating in the rooms. We were eventually moved to another room (which still had ants), but no reimbursement, no real apology, and no accountability was offered.
This hotel is a disgrace. They refuse to take responsibility for anything, are disorganized, and make excuses rather than fixes. Ant infestations, forgotten services, gaslighting staff, uncleaned rooms — the list goes on. I urge anyone considering Villa Poseidon to book elsewhere.
More pictures should have been taken. Ants were built up in the fridge area and various other corners of the room. Sheets were stained upon arrival. Photo 3 entails ants in the “new” room.
