We had an incredible experience during our 6-day stay at Tahuayo Lodge and Amazon Research Center. There’s so much to do — from jungle hikes to canoeing through the stunning black-water rivers, which are absolutely perfect for photography. We visited both the southern and northern Amazon during our 2-month trip to Peru, and while both were beautiful, we found the most diversity in the north. One of the biggest highlights was having our own private guide and boat throughout the trip — an absolute dream for photography lovers. Our guide, Lander, was amazing: knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about sharing his expertise, especially when it came to spotting birds and coaxing out shy ones. The fact that Wi-Fi was only available in the main lodge wasn’t an issue at all — if anything, it made disconnecting and enjoying the Amazon even easier. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always making us feel welcome. Special mention to the bartender, who crafted some of the best Pisco Sours we had anywhere in Peru! The food was also better than expected — not fine dining, but hearty, flavorful, and surprisingly varied considering everything was prepared right there in the middle of the jungle. Combined with the warm hospitality and all the activities offered, staying at Tahuayo Lodge was an unforgettable experience we highly recommended!

The communication from the start was always helpful and responsive, and the company was accommodating in last minute flight changes etc. The boat trip on the Amazon river to the lodge itself was amazing and we were lucky to spot pink river dolphins on the return journey. The boat and room was very clean and large. Everything on board was included such as pisco sours, all the meals and more. The staff aswell were great. Ours guides Javier and Ricardo were funny and knowledgeable. The barmen Richard and Elias made fantastic drinks when we had rest moments. The excursions were amazing and while there is never a guarantee to see all the wildlife, we were able to see hawks, king fischers, dancing birds, tamarind monkeys, squirrel monkeys, sloths, dolphins, caimens, dart frogs, dragon lizard, tarantulas and many more. The location is remote and disconnected from city life, which made the experience all the more authentic. They are currently in the process of building a pool which will be completed this month (very exciting!). The rooms are basic but have everything you need, including ensuite washrooms. The one thing lacking in the rooms is a fan, which would be highly beneficial given how hot and humid it gets throughout the day and night, however we were told by the owner that they were working on providing one for every room in the near future. During our research, we found that other tour companies tend to promise an abundance of experiences that they fail to provide. This cannot be said for Maniti as they went above and beyond to make sure we got to see it all, even in the short time we were there for (just one night/two days). Overall would highly recommend this tour it very much exceeded our expectations!!
