这家强烈不建议带小朋友入住，太多蚊子了！！！ 客房服务连如家都不如，想预留房间？周末根本没用！！我是3月31日入住，9点多开车从上海出发前特地打电话给宾馆告知到达时间，要求预留房间，前台表示周末满房只能尽可能满足，到店下午1点，前台表示没房间，只能将行李暂存前台，3点拿到钥匙。 关紧门窗就能防蚊？太天真了！！！因为在1楼，阳台外有花草和小河，故特别嘱咐女儿不能开窗，全家也没人开窗，再看宾馆服务人员已经在我们不在时插上了电蚊香，自认防护到位，没想到晚上才是噩梦的开始，电蚊香根本就没用…凌晨三点，向总台投诉，服务人员拿来点燃的蚊香，方才有些作用，但全家已经睡意全无。早上光线好时再看女儿，已经被咬成了猪头，心痛加愤怒有家庭的都懂的。 能否做的更好？作为定位较为高端的宾馆，如果在我出发前告知我蚊虫多，我必然多带些花露水，驱蚊液，然而却没有。到了前台，给我1楼的房间，也没提醒蚊虫问题…总之下次绝不会再住这家，也不会推荐我任何朋友住这家！

It's so seldom, I believe this may even be my first Google review. The exceptions are far and in between, purposefully so. To give Banyan Tree a 5-star rating, without sharing the experience, would do injustice to the incredible time my girlfriend and I had at the hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such warmth by every single staff member. Checking in was a breeze, and we were even greeted by the most stunning of sunsets as we overlooked the hotel's entrance bridge; the pagoda sitting in the far distance. We were instantly transported to a different time and place. Often times, the advertised pictures of your hotel room embellish what the room looks like. Somehow, the room was even better than the photographs. Our "room" was a villa in every sense of the word. We didn't have one bathtub. We had two. One in our immense bathroom, the other in our bedroom. We had an issue with the piping, which we reported to the staff the following day. They were so attentive and understanding that they extended our stay, free of charge. And so, we were moved to another, equally stunning, room. From offering complementary wine and fruit, to speaking to us about Hangzhou, and giving tips; it was truly the most well-serviced hotel I've ever had the privilege of staying at. Frank and Jennifer are two staff members I want to particularly commend, for facilitating this one-in-a-lifetime experience. My girlfriend and I are still euphoric from our time in Hangzhou, and I have a suspicion we'll be back sooner than later. Partly because it's a stunning city, largely because of the hotel service and staff. Thank you.

However, the lighting was a bit low. This fits the aesthetics of the hotel, but I can see how some women might find this challenging when putting on their makeup. One thing that stood out to us was the incredibly friendly service from the staff. Lucy helped us with so many things, from setting up certain Chinese apps on our phones to recommending places to visit nearby. At one point, late at night, we wanted to eat something and she kindly offered to (re)open the hotel kitchen for us, which we politely declined. We just couldn’t ask that of anyone, though we were amazed it was offered. She really made our stay a 5-star experience. While researching hotels to stay in Hangzhou, I picked the Nook for its beautiful design and location but was hesitant at first because I couldn’t find photos online of the breakfast. I expected a standard hotel breakfast, but what we found was one of the best breakfast options we have ever experienced during our travels. I’m including some photos here and on other platforms, hoping that it will entice other travelers to visit this wonderful hotel. What makes the breakfast so special is that almost everything offered was prepared by their kitchen. Grilled, cooked, sautéed, steamed – everything was transformed into a dish for the hotel guests to enjoy. If I come back to Hangzhou, I have no doubt that I will choose the Nook hotel again for my stay.

Check-in and out was simple and fast. They took MasterCard (Monzo) to cover the cost of a cab they had booked for me when I checked out. Language was occasionally a barrier depending on the staff member, but staff had handy translators at reception - I'd still recommend having a translate app however. The restaurant is more like a restaurant next door which has a connection to it from the hotel. We didn't go for breakfast, but did for dinner that was fairly nice, despite a few dodgy English translations on it! Price worked out at about 100 RMB per person, about 10 GBP at the time. The room was lovely and large with air con. The bathroom had a small bag of useful items like combs, ear buds, shower cap, mini toothpaste... Both the bath and shower had shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. The bath was large but didn't take too long to fill, nice extra was a small bag of bath salts. The shower was wet room style, with an overhead rain style in addition to the normal shower. Lastly, hair dryer was present. The bed was very large, and comfortable with pillows that's weren't too soft or hard. I know all that is subjective, but I'd happily exchange it for my bed at home! All the switches were either on one side of the other of the bed, including switches for the lights and curtains to open and close! The location listed on Google maps is inaccurate, and I can't update it, but your driver should know it correctly. Next to the hotel is a great strip of restaurants, including a Starbucks and a restaurant that does western food like burgers etc. Overall I'd highly recommend The Nook!

Hotel staff spoke limited English, but all went out of their way to communicate and meet our requests. Conveniently situated near bus stops, accessing Westlake and the shopping areas to the East of the hotel, wetlands to the West and Longjin tea plantations & Lingyin Temple to the South were all very easy - whether by bus or taxi. It went through an upgrade recently & was well done to uplift the overall quality of the. It has both subway & buses in front of the hotel. The greatest disappointment is it shares with an aging recreational club for the gym, pool, spa on the other building that would take an unpleasant long walk to get there. There are also some drawbacks on the built quality in the room. The AC kept making a dripping noise loud enough to unsettle one’s sleep at night. The shower drain was defective, so the shower water overflowed to the outside. The in-house wi-fi was difficult to connect & seemed to block Google & some overseas websites. The wardrobe doors were not operable. It would have been a great hotel, had the nice upgrade was done thoroughly.

(I was skeptical of the wallpaper I saw in their listing photos, but it's classier than the pictures convey.) The rooms are comfortably furnished, and very clean. The staff are extremely helpful too, though not everyone can manage English well, so it's best to ask your questions ahead of time. It's part of a pedestrians-only heritage district, so it can be a little bit difficult to find the first time round. But most people in the neighborhood know the hotel, and it's just 2-3min walk in from the carpark. Not great if you've got lots of luggage (esp more so if you're staying on the second floor) but if you can afford that little extra effort, it's a lovely boutique stay.
