Apparently, the chefs had come then and I was not able to get Pakodas. 20 yrs later, I went and told this story to the owner and he had fresh Pakodas for me. I went to the restaurant with my family. The owner is very friendly and we had a wonderful and fun evening. I am vegetarian and my sister vegan, which is very challenging in Xiamen. So my friend and I visited this restaurant tonight 5/18/19 and the service, ambiance and food was so outstanding. Elim attended to us and she spoke a lil English which was a relief compared to ordering chicken at kfc earlier. The restaurant is clean, wait was short and the owner was so sweet he sent over wine and desert. Lovely little restaurant, very suitable for vegetarians and vegans. They start with telling you they do not have any animal on the menu. I had the feeling it is even vegan but I was a little lost in translation.
Waiters are very friendly, menu has beautiful and accurate photo's. They have more expensive on the menu but I had the 25rbm rice noodles. It was a big plate and I had half of the portion to take away (and eat in the airplane)
They are also open around lunch time, in contrary to some other vegetarian restaurants in the area wich is a big plus.

This is a very good restaurant that puts a Chinese twist on western steak. The restaurant is clean and the customer service is outstanding. It has 2 levels of seating. I prefer the upper level due to less customer traffic. It is very busy on a Sunday night at 6:30pm. The meals are very reasonably priced, you get a lot for your money. If you get a western meal set (steak, noodles, egg), it comes with a fruit and ice cream bar. The steak can be done in different sauces, like black pepper or mushroom. The steaks are very thin by western standards, but have good flavor. The noodles were good as well. You can get sets with a small cup of French fries too. The fruit bar had a good selection of fruit, like watermelon and dragon fruit. The ice cream was soft serve and the choices the night I went were vanilla and strawberry. If you want a “local” meal but want to stick with something more western, this is definitely the place to go. I enjoyed my meal and will definitely eat here again. They don’t serve soda. The drink choices are only tea, lemonade and water. As expected, the waitress we had didn’t speak English, so using a translator app is a must if you don’t speak Chinese. I used Google Translate and everything I ordered was correct. They accept cash and AliPay.

I went here for Thanksgiving dinner a few days ago. Fabulous! It was 300 Yuan (about $42) for a multi-course dinner with "free-flow wine", as Jacky Angela advertised. Bread with butter, soup, salad, plenty of turkey, cranberries, stuffing and little potatoes. Add in pumpkin pie for dessert, and it was much better than what I expected. Carolina took care of us, and Marcus provided some familiar songs and didn't mind if we sang along!
Everything tasted so good! The servers did a great job of bringing the courses out and our wineglasses filled. I am not a salad dressing kind of person, but the vinaigrette on the salad was perfect. Not overwhelming. And I normally HATE salad dressing! The soup I think was a potato bacon soup in a thin broth that might have been gouda. The main course offered plenty of turkey and trimmings.
Totally worth the money and looking forward to my next meal at Jacky Angela's.
