Very crowded and parking can be tough to come by if you don't come early so just be prepared for that and perhaps a longer jaunt to the trailhead. Such a beautiful place!! We first paid a $30 entrance fee. You either pay in cash or by credit card (good luck with the reception) and covers most destinations in that area. We walked a short clear path to the beach. There is a section where you climb down (using the rope) some secured rocks. Here you will see the beautiful view of driftwood along the edges of the beach. The Lodge has a decent restaurant, but with limited hours, so pay heed! We packed up after breakfast and walked over to the trailhead to hike up to Mink Lake. Incredibly gorgeous views of Lake Crescent. The accommodations are not modern, but comfortable and add to the charm of the location. The cost to stay here may seem a bit pricey for what you get, but it is totally worth it to be able to sit outside your room in the evening with a view of the lake. The restaurant is fantastic. The food we had was fresh and locally sourced and reasonably priced. The dining room is well lit and offers a view of the lake. Service was great. We cooked most meals, but also had dinner at the restaurant one night. We had the elk burger and crab Mac and cheese, which were both excellent. Cocktails were delicious and strong. The location here is unbeatable. Quick access to many popular beaches and the Hoh and Quinalt Rainforests. We saw otters, eagles, deer, and more wildlife on lodge property. We really enjoyed our visit to Kalaloch Lodge. The Cons: The beds were not incredibly comfortable. They were springy and noisy and caved in a little bit too much! We were a little disappointed with the quality and price of food at the restaurant. We understood they were struggling with equipment, but we did feel there should have been a bit of a price break for the food that was offered. The breakfast in particular! The bacon and sausage were undercooked, the biscuits were overcooked and the oatmeal was runny. The Pros: The cabins were clean and cozy. They were spacious and well stocked with everything we needed for the night & showers the next morning. It seemed pricey, but we have paid similar for lodges elsewhere. We paid for a "Bluff Duplex Cabin One Queen Wood Stove" though it was barely on the bluff (#15 if I am remembering correctly). We did see the ocean though it was mostly obstructed by overgrowth. Inside the cabin it was very nice but be warned the bathroom is made for people on the smaller side. If you are on the large size or have large parts you will be hitting things. And you may want to give up on the shower stall. Please don't take this as a bad review. We did enjoy our stay but just were a bit disappointed.

It is a trial that keeps giving through and through. The lichen covers trees are fabulous! We rented one of the 2 bed room cabins with kitchenette for $480/night. The cabin was in great shape, it has a small fridge, 2 burner stove a sink, pans, dishes and utensils. I don't think pictures do it justice. It really is the world's largest Spruce. The sign talks about a co-champion, but unfortunately, that tree in Oregon fell in a winter storm in 2007. They should probably update the sign. The trail to the Spruce is a nice little walk. The trailhead is across the street from where you park. There is a Porta-potty located in the parking area as well. It was clean. We made the quick stop as we were driving from the tree of life back to Pacific Beach. It felt pretty far down the road, but it's worth it. Not every day, you get to see such a massive tree. I feel like this is a one and done deal. It’s an old, historic lodge — not modern or fancy, but full of charm and character that you just can’t fake. The rooms and cabins are cozy and perfect for getting-ready photos. I especially love the first-floor rooms — you can open the balcony door and step right onto the lawn for a first look or champagne photos by the lake. And I absolutely love their lobby area — all that vintage furniture, a big stone fireplace, a piano, and such a warm, woodsy vibe. There is a ranger station 5 miles before the visitor center. They stop you there and only allow so many cars through before it’s one in and one out. There are signs along the road prior to the ranger station that will say “expect delays” and “expect a 2 hour wait”. Those times are incredibly accurate from that point (they were for us at approx 2:45pm today). We finally arrived to the visitor center about 4:30pm. Plan to go VERY early if you can. It reminded me of an enchanted forests with towering trees covered in moss. Lots of photo opportunities. My kids loved seeing the huge trees. It’s a nice place to visit. If traffic remains the same, I wouldn’t go back. The drive is very pretty. Bumpy curvy road. It's about an hour-and-a-half hike. It's not very strenuous it gets just a tad towards the end but very doable. And at the very end you get to see this triple waterfall amazingness. I did not however see a lot of wildlife maybe some mosquitoes a squirrel and on the way back the most exciting thing was a small black bear. I did see a lot of blueberries and other fruit on the road the bridges were very fun and photo inspiring.
