We didn't know what to expect with this museum, but were really impressed by it! It is very well worth the visit, and there's more than enough to see in the 2 days the admission fee covers. At the beginning, someone went over the map with us, and explained some about the buildings. That was really helpful. It's not just a museum, but an entire complex of various buildings that are really each museums. I couldn't possibly do it justice by describing it- if you are considering going, you definitely should! I really enjoyed seeing the variety of boats, and the building that was built all around an oyster boat was probably my favorite. You could walk through it, hearing about it with the narration, and seeing all the different parts. There were fun facts about oysters all around, as well as a complete history of the oyster business in the area, canning, and even oyster wars! The lighthouse was pretty interesting, and showed all of the keeper's quarters set up, as well as some information about the various keepers, and a big map of all the area lighthouses. There was a whole building that showed about the blue crab, and the crab picking industry. There was a building that had lots of history and information about people enjoying the water in various ways over the years. As you walk around, the view of the harbor and the water is beautiful as well. The museum store is beautifully arranged, and contains a great variety of souvenirs and items having to do with the water.

We had heard this museum was a must see and it didn't disappoint.
One fee for a two-day ticket that was not expensive. There is a lot of area to cover, so it was nice to know we could come back. We visited in October so it was not crowded.
We spoke with a very friendly painter who had been working on one of the boat and he told us a bit more about the place.
Plenty of self-guided areas and exhibits.
We enjoyed the ship building work - it was interesting to see the process step as well as the volume of lumber stocked and waiting to be used.

I enjoyed walking among and reading about the exhibit boats they had on display, each with a detailed history of ownership and uses over time. Amazing.
The collection of outboards showed the changes over time - I can't imaging heading out into the sea with one of those old-timers even when it was brand new.
Definitely worth the time and money.

Beautiful museum and campus of buildings make up the museum property. We did the patriot boat tour and museum combo. The boat tour is listed as a 70 min narrated historical tour, but it’s more commentary than history. It was a great time and the different buildings at the museum cater to all ages. There is not much to do in St Michael’s other than eat, shopping and boating, so happy we went.

I highly recommend this spot if you’re in the St. Michael’s area. This was my first time and my fiance and I stopped by for Valentine’s Day and apparently it’s been built up since the last time he visited with more shops in and around in walking distance. The winery itself sits inside with an artists boutique so you can wine and shop.
The winery selection isn’t too bad if you have a sweeter taste in wine. If you like more dry, the reds are the way to go! The best and most surprising one was their chocolate Zin.
The service is what makes this place a 5 star! The staff that served us was so nice! She took time to not just pour the wine but actually talk to us and shared some stories and chatted for a while! It also looked like everyone in there was having a great time along with the staff.

5 stars for the service and experience, a bit less on the wines.
We are red drinkers, so we stopped in for a tasting. I liked that you could taste any of the available wines one at a time for a small fee each. Unfortunately they didn't have any reds so we tried the chardonnay and a vidal blanc. Both were nice. They had a sangria that I also tried. It was not too sweet, with some tart cranberry background. We didn't try the sweeter wines.
We stopped in about 4PM on a Tuesday in October, so it was not crowded at all, but I could imaging it would be very busy in the peak months. We chatted with the person serving and she gave us some great recommendations in the area. Very friendly and welcoming.

This place deserves more than a 4.1! Over 20 wines to choose from. We had 10 tastings and they were all very good. Crazy but they were only $1 a tasting if you wanted to mix it up. The staff was super friendly and made the experience special. The location is right off the main road into town. Although it's more of a tasting room it is, nevertheless, very cute and inviting with plenty of outdoor seating. I highly recommend these folks!

We took the Patriot cruise during Oyster Fest and really enjoyed it. It’s a 70-minute narrated ride down the Miles River with beautiful views, interesting history, and very reasonably priced drinks and snacks. Captain Matt even invited my kids up to the helm and let them help steer, which made their day! Highly recommend to anyone visiting St. Michael’s.

Found this attraction advertised on a flyer at my resort, miles away! Decided to come and enjoy a guided tour on a very expansive waterway. Not much action (very few boats on the water), but hints that whales and dolphins had been spotted over the years. Very limited snacks so don’t board if you’re hungry! Indoor (air conditioned) and fresh air seating. Your goes rain or shine, clouds made this trip not as stifling. Family friendly and dog-friendly!

I run a Photo Booth company and worked with patriot cruises to coordinate a Photo Booth for a wedding cruise over Memorial Day weekend. All staff were super courteous and helpful, even offering to help me carry to gear on and off the ship.
I worked with Joyce who was awesome and knowledgeable and really helpful in pinning down logistics in a challenging situation on a holiday weekend no less!
Highly recommended if you want a great evening with an experienced and helpful crew. You’re in good hands.

We sat right on the water outside and watched the boats coming in and out. We happened to be there at the same time as the entire Terps coaching staff so that was cool. They had some pretty boats! The crab dip was really good and came in a yummy sourdough bread bowl. We sat there well over 1 hour and still no lunch in sight. However the tables next to us who sat down a good while after us received their food. Does that make any sense at all? NOPE!! There was a guy server vaping near the soda area. Not professional at all and super grose too!! This restaurant used to be so good back in the day not anymore. My wife and I ate lunch here on 10/15/25 and swore “never again.” The crab cake that I ordered was tasteless and “off” and *very* expensive at $36. It was accompanied by a baked potato that was just meh and applesauce that obviously had been spooned out of a supermarket-bought jar. The only tasty and satisfying part of the entire meal was the Smith Island cake that, by the waitress’s own admission, had been bought from a commercial bakery. My wife’s feelings about her order of crabmeat sandwich and french fries were pretty much the same as mine about my order. Worse, we were both quite ill later that afternoon and evening with various unpleasant stomach and intestinal symptoms. We also didn’t enjoy the seating on hard campground-style benches. The next day, 10/16/25, we stopped for a seafood lunch at the Fisherman’s Inn at Grasonville in Kent Narrows, one of our favorite restaurants, and as always had a delicious seafood meal there. The crab cake my wife ate there was far, far superior to the Crab Claw’s, and was much cheaper at $23 than the Crab Claw’s ($36). My dish of broiled flounder in lemon-and-chive beurre blanc was outstanding, and the Fisherman’s Inn’s delicious applesauce is home-made. This is exactly the kind of seafood restaurant you want to go to while in St. Michaels. It is a nice casual crab shack with a menu highlighting the delicious local seafood. They have a great selection of appetizers, entrees, and drinks. We did not get dessert, so I can't speak to that.
Riley was our waitress. She was kind and sweet. She's a skilled waitress.
For starters, we had oysters on the half shell and they were some of the best and biggest oysters I've ever had in my life. They were so enjoyable. We also had hush puppies to start with and they were also tasty. They make a darn good spicy margarita and their crab claw ale was very good.
For entrees we got their fried seafood sampler. It was a great selection of fish prepared very well. The breading on some of the different types of fish was varied and I really appreciated that detail. The crab cake was all crab and I really loved the fried oysters and shrimp. There was a generous amount of clam strips.

We stopped in for drinks about 2PM on Wednesday 10/15. Perfect weather for being outside in October! We were looking for a place for dinner later and the bar specials were perfect. When we came back at 4 and there were nice seats with a water view on the deck. We had two crab cake dinners at the best price in town. All lump crabmeat, asparagus and mashed potatoes very well plated. So good we ordered another to split.
Drafts were icy cold as well as the bottled beers. I also enjoyed a Mai Tai made with the local dark rum.
Place was pretty busy and only one waitress was working, but she had the place running smoothly.

A Delightful Dining Experience at Ruse in St. Michaels, MD
Ruse in St. Michaels is an absolute gem. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance is stunning—both the indoor and outdoor spaces are beautifully designed, making for an inviting and memorable dining experience.
The service was impeccable, with the wait staff being exceptionally courteous and helpful. Our server, Brittany, was beyond amazing. She made our experience even more enjoyable and is one of the main reasons we’d return and recommend Ruse to our friends.
As for the drinks, the mocktails were outstanding—citrusy, refreshing, and thoughtfully crafted. They were the perfect complement to the meal.
The raw Wellfleet oysters were a standout—meaty with an intense brine flavor that was absolutely fantastic. The Roasted Wild Diver oysters were also very good, though I do hope the restaurant recycles the rock salt they’re served on, as otherwise, it seems like a bit of a waste.
The Apple and Endive salad was a highlight—so fresh and well-balanced that I wish I could find it closer to home. The steak tartare was another winner, offering a complex and well-portioned dish that impressed with every bite.
The only dish that didn’t quite resonate with me was the Chicken Liver & Foie Gras Parfait. It had a PB&J-like quality with a chickeny flavor, which I’m sure many would enjoy, but as a foie gras purist, it wasn’t my personal favorite. However, the Porcini Mushroom Lasagna more than made up for it—rich, flavorful, and an absolute must-try for mushroom lovers.
Overall, Ruse delivers an incredible dining experience with top-notch service, beautifully prepared dishes, and a welcoming atmosphere. We’ll absolutely be back!

Wow!!! My experiences today prompted me to write this review. We are staying at Wildset for our babymoon and read about how Ruse is the best restaurant in St. Michael’s. We tried the happy hour first and sat at the raw bar- the roasted oysters and spring gem salad were delicious and this was some of the the best service I have ever received from a server while sitting at the bar!
We then went later that day to try dinner and we were in for a treat! The lamb ribs, wild mushrooms, and smoked trout were all so delicious. The trout in particular was cooked to perfection, crispy skin on the outside, tender meat inside, and the lemon caper sauce was delicious. I also loved the labneh ice cream, perfect amount of tangy and sweet with the rhubarb compote and crumbles. Brittany, our server, was so genuine and pleasant to be around, and enthusiastic about all of our choices. She gave us amazing service and was so sweet to even gave us complimentary non-alcoholic sparkling rose to congratulate us! My God, can’t wait to come back to try the famous burger and shoestring fries!

After visiting St. Michael's winery (7/11), I was told to walk next door to LYON Rum distillery-woman owned! I did just that! The atmosphere was very inviting and fun. I can't remember the name of the person at the counter, but she was very friendly and knowledgeable about the distillery and products. We visited after the St Michael’s running festival with our running club. We started in the tasting room/shop. The server was very knowledgeable as she was letting us sample the different flavors of rum. We then went into the speakeasy like space to have cocktails. The drinks were amazing. Went for a tasting and thoroughly enjoyed both the rums and the hostess. She fully understood everything about the process and was able to answer all questions. I loved every single rum, except for the white, but that's because I'm not a fan of white rum to begin with. It was definitely palatable, however. Had an amazing first visit during a recent trip. Ace was wonderful throughout. He was attentive to us and had us cracking up. We felt right at home. My one star is NOT for the beer. I did a flight and actually enjoyed almost all of my choices (the Shandy was my favorite). I sat at the bar. Most people opted to sit outside, which I now understand why. The staff was very inattentive and not friendly at all. I felt like an imposition in their living space. Both the bartender and the brewer drank the whole time and spoke very negatively and loudly about other people. People who sat outside and anyone not sitting at the bar had to walk up to the bar to get a drink. We stopped in for a beer this past Saturday afternoon. The band was just setting up so we grabbed a seat at the bar and glad we did because shortly afterwards the place got packed. There was a halloween scavenger hunt happening as well so we got to see a lot of cool costumes coming and going.

Sailing with Captain Iris was one of the best parts of our trip to Saint Michaels. She is so knowledgeable and her knowledge of the history of the beautiful homes we sailed by was amazing. And to add to our adventure, Captain Iris saw a smaller sailboat in distress and with her expertise, Captain Iris was able to rescue the boater and tow him and his sailboat safely into the harbor. What a wonderful experience! Very intimate short trip, just 2 hours. Just six passengers with Captain Iris and first mate John. We were not experienced sailors and we were made to feel very comfortable while getting the real "on the water" vibe. My newlywed husband and I celebrated my 60th Birthday with a special trip upon the Selina II, and what a special trip it was. Captain Iris and her First Mate John were so very knowledgeable, not only about the Selina but about surrounding boats, breathtaking homes and famous Inn’s, and even the nautical history of the Chesapeake Bay area. We were there for an especially terrific sail as we joined a long boat canoe race that was taking place during our trip. It was surreal to be able to glide around the long boat as they struggled to catch the wind that day. We had the most fabulous sunset cruise with the Selina II! Iris and her first mate, Matt, where the best. We were worried that our sail might be cancelled because of the hurricane winds and the rain, but the day ended up clearing and the sun came out for a breathtaking sunset. Even though we have lived in St. Michael's for 13 years, we learned so much that we never new about the area. It was truly a delight and would highly recommend to both locals and tourist!

When we walked in we were not immediately greeted. The lady behind the bar looked at us then looked away but a few moments later another lady came to the hostess stand and sat us. The rest of the staff was extremely nice. Just not the initial walk in.
The food is simply delicious. We got the arugula salad with fennel, pistachio, fruit, & a lemon vinaigrette. We told them we were going to split the salad so they went ahead and brought it out on two separate places.
The two pasta dishes were very good. The lobster ravioli.. i would eat that everyday if possible. The sauce was pure perfection and there was plenty of lobster meat inside. You could very much tell they were fresh and house made.
The second pasta dish was delicious but the sauce couldn’t compare to the ravioli. The saffron sauce was a little bland but the fresh house made noodle and perfectly cooked seafood made up for it.
They also give you bread and olive oil to munch on while you wait for your food. Bread was fresh and they give you a lot. I liked the touch of the roasted garlic in it. Perfect to smear on your bread if desired.

Stopped by to have a drink and the four of us sat at the bar. Our bartender was Rebecca, and she was outstanding. Attentive and knowledgeable and able to assist us in choosing the right beverages.
I love the bright colors and atmosphere of this restaurant and bar. We had Espresso Martinis, wine (and of course) the Limoncello Martini. I highly recommend you try this, you will not be disappointed. We did not try any food, but others looked like they were enjoying theirs.

Starting with the beautiful and inviting decor of lemons and Blue glass lamps across the bar. This is one of my favorite restaurants when visiting Saint Michael's. We came to celebrate our anniversary since this is one of our favorite restaurants in St. Michaels. It was very bright in the right side of the restaurant and we would have preferred more ambiance, with less light. The bread was warm, rustic and delicious with the olive oil infused with garlic. My husband and I had dinner here on a recent trip to St Michaels and results were mixed at best. The good- pleasant surroundings, nicely decorated, and our server Jay was great. He was friendly, helpful, and attentive but not overbearing. Prosecco and a Limoncello martini were very nice as were the appetizers. The polenta with mushrooms was amazing! And the eggplant appetizer was also delicious. Dinner wines were not exceptional but satisfactory, and espresso and grappa were very nice at the end of the meal. The not so good- only one of us was hungry enough for a main, the Halibut Livornese. Advertised as dressed with cherry tomatoes and olives, it instead arrived smothered in a thick red sauce with way too much garlic, not at all what's on the menu and totally overwhelming a nice piece of fish. Broccolini was pretty and bright green and virtually raw, totally inedible. Roasted potatoes would have been good if not coated with so much salt as to also be inedible. So the main dish was an unqualified failure. Sabayon for dessert was ok but just sweetness with no other flavor, missing the edge of champagne or Prosecco it needs .So my recommendation would be to come for drinks and appetizers and skip the rest!

We really liked our visit to the Classic Motor Museum. The curator (owner?) was very eager to share his knowledge of the classic cars in the museum and the hostess was very friendly and helpful. Went here a few weeks ago with my family and it was an absolutely WONDERFUL experience. The gentleman in the red shirt is a passionate fan of history and gave us such a fabulous and indepth tour of all the vehicles & the history of the automotive industry in America. If you dont get the chance to get a tour, the plaques and booklets in front of each car are still very interesting to read. I’m not a car person in the slightest but I will absolutely be returning next time I go to St.Michaels. Absolute gem of a museum and my favorite part of my trip here.
I heard that theyre likely expaning the museum to store more vehicles in the near future, which is very exciting.
However, I wouldn’t recommend bringing young children with no restraint as there is only rope in place to separate the vehicles from the patrons of the museum.

I have been going to St. Michael's for years and for the last few years have been collecting the Christmas St. Michael's Ornament. We'll, every time I go into The Christmas Shop I am greeted by Mrs. Scrooge and her sour attitude. The Bordeleau tasting room is nice and friendly and the service is good. Our server, Heather, was very generous with the pours and we can only complain that she still poured at least 3-4 ounces for each tasting although we asked for just a splash. We tried their whites and reds and we were pleasantly surprised by every wine because we rarely find that wines made from Maryland-sourced grapes can be as rich and complex as Bordeleau’s were. Heather assured us that almost all of the grapes were grown here on the Eastern Shore with the exception of one or two barrels that were blended in. I was most surprised by the Merlot, which I usually don’t care for. Definitely a must-try if you’re in the area.

If you want to taste some of the better wines made in this region, then you can’t go wrong with Bordeleau. This was a very enjoyable tasting room experience. Heather and Rob were behind the bar, and both were fun, engaging, and obviously knew their stuff. More importantly, the wines were excellent (my personal favorite was the Cabernet Franc). My husband and I have been coming to this winery for many years here in St. Michaels. Heather has made our winery visits a pleasure every visit and we come back time and time again to see her. After going to St. Michael's Winery and having a terrible experience all around, Bordeleau definitely resurrected my hopes in wine humanity. I ended up doing both the red and white tastings (I didn't do sweet only because I cannot stand sweet wine). The wine was magnificent. The hostess and host (husband and wife) were very knowledgeable about the winery's history and how their wines are made. The hostess had a great way of describing the taste of the various wines and had some wonderful stories to tell. I bought four bottles for the weekend while we were vacationing. This shop saved me for Eagleman 70.3! The clerks and mechanics were super friendly. I had lost my axle which is a pretty specific part to the Quintana Roo bikes. They contacted Quintana Roo, had it express shipped and the part was waiting for me at their tent at the race expo. We stopped by several times over the weekend to pick up some odds and ends because they were just great to ask questions and their prices were competitive.

Showed up at TriCycle and Run's doorstep prior to open and they gladly dropped what they were doing to help me fit a pair of new shoes/cleats. Had such a relaxing experience at Book Hounds! I loved how beautifully decorated the shop was, the owner was very friendly, and the owner's dog (hence the name book hounds) was so sweet/friendly. The collection of books had popular reads but also so obscure pieces I've never seen before. It is evident the owner has a love for books with the selection and hand written reccomendaction cards. This book store makes me wish I lived her in St. Michaels. They even had an adorable selection of stickers, pins, notebooks, and cards. Defintely worth stopping in, this place will re-spark your love for reading for sure!

Now get this marina wasn't full they lost no revenue. just greedy. that same day when I cancelled I rebooked for the 15th of August . asking could I get credit no. Also we don't want your reservation for the 15th either! too funny right.? Just no class poor business. will never be back. Be careful. go to the better marina in town. We use Higgins Yacht Yard for numerous reasons including boat storage, boat maintenance/service as well as the Log Canoe Inn for accommodations. The staff/team go above and beyond to make things happen! We love staying here on our boat at the private accommodations of the Log Canoe Inn. The property is so unique because it’s an actual working boatyard! The main pier system is brand new and there is always ice available! We have met so many friendly transients on the weekends too. The boatyard bathroom/showers are always clean and they’re just what we need in order to cleanup for dinner out in St. Michael’s! Also, Higgins is incredibly dog friendly. I also feel like it’s the best location because it’s a dead end street, quiet, but you’re also in the middle of town! The history of the boatyard and Log Canoe Inn is very interesting. We have been coming to Higgins for years and we have seen so many huge improvements to their amenities. Looking forward to see what more is to come!

The dockmaster/office person was super helpful and attentive. The location is great- a block from town. BUT the bathrooms/shower needs serious upgrade. I’m not talking upgrade to luxury, I’m talking upgrade to not pipes coming out of the wall, air conditioning and maybe a hook or 2 and decent lighting. Also in the time we were there the bathrooms were not cleaned. We have been in many marinas and for the price Higgins charged, there should be nicer facilities.

To be fair, if you want a pool, bar, restaurant, tons of foot traffic and the price associated with those trappings dock at the other marina. However, if you just need a transient slip with power in a beautiful setting, and a realistic price Higgins is the place. The dock hands and all staff are very helpful and responsive. The bathroom facilities are fine, working boat yard caliber, which it is. We love it, come back every year and plan to continue.

You would think that a town like St. Michaels would have many boating provisions, but you'd be mistaken. Groceries are scarce since Acme closed and other essentials can be hard to find, too. We left home without holding tank treatment and expected to be able to find some easily...but no.
Higgins to the rescue! We walked to the yacht yard in the midst of a downpour and the staff not only had the product ready at the door but invited us to stay until the storm passed. They even offered us drinks and comfortable seats. They went well beyond the level of service I would expect.
They also had a full complement of boat maintenance supplies, so we'll definitely be back (who can go out on the boat without needing something, right?). Thank you so much your kindness!

Worth checking the two storied exhibition out with enough time to explore and learn everything about the bay and St. michaels harbor. People who built the harbor over the years, grew business and kept it flourishing, have their history laid out inside. There is a small private boat model inside that you can get on.
