The views are stunning and this place feels so underrated. My favorite spots were the Abyss Pool, the Black Pool facing it, and the area where the hot spring water flows into the lake. I also enjoyed seeing the Fishing Cone and the Thumb Paint Pots which make this basin unique. The boardwalk loop is about 0.6 miles round trip which makes it an easy walk for everyone. It is wheelchair accessible and I noticed families with kids enjoying the walk so it is definitely kid friendly. If you are visiting with kids, be extra cautious and attentive because the thermal water is extremely hot and it can be scary. Parking was full and it was quite challenging to find a spot so I recommend being early. The restrooms were pretty busy too and I had to wait almost five minutes. There are picnic areas available which make it a nice place to rest after walking around. Taking photos, pausing on benches, and enjoying the lake view are some of the best activities here. The area was clean and well maintained. Overall, I highly recommend stopping here to see it for yourself.

Some walking (or biking or driving) is required. The lake is extremely cold, being fed mostly by snowmelt, and was much too cold for swimming, in my opinion. Two reasons why it's 4 star. It is a LITTLE far from the main attractions of Yellowstone. I mean, that's no real problem. Everyone seems to have a car in Yellowstone after all. In fact, for us it was great as we could get out to the Grand Teton National Park nice and early (and wow, what a beautiful drive that is). And then, when we stayed on the night of the 3rd July (god bless America) it was full, and you can be a little close to the campers around you. Which is also actually no problem, we are quiet people but do enjoy the company and presence of others. But we were right next to a mother with her kids and she was SO LOUD, just shouting their names and telling them what to do every thirty seconds. I think the kids were actually trying to hide from her in the end because she was so annoying lol. The saving grace is that quiet time is at 10pm (strictly enforced) and she did stop being annoying about 9:59pm (which suggests to me she knew how loud she was being). So all in all, a beautiful spot, decent location. I am really just giving it a 4/5 star as I know there are places that squarely deserve the 5/5 in Yellowstone, and using a couple of experiences to justify that 4* rating. You won't be disappointed if you choose this spot really.

Yes, the location is great, but the service here and overall experience was miserable. During the first one-night stay, our room was not ready until 2000 hours because of cleaning staff shortages (note: the hotel manager did give us a 25% discount on the room that night, which was very nice of her). They had two people cleaning 50 rooms, which was confirmed to us when I talked with the cleaning staff right outside our room. We felt sorry for them because it was the end of the season (they closed on October 5), and there was very few employees left to service all the properties. From mold in the showers, broken refrigerator (second stay), no hair dryers (did bring us one, but that was broken also), to rip bed sheets (see photos), this stay for not even close to the meeting standards, especially when you consider what they charge for a room here. The two (2) different and very small rooms we stayed in were sparsely decorated with updated furniture and old linen, hopefully it was clean. We stayed in both the Antelope Lodge and Bear (?) Lodge – not impressed at all and the lowest quality hotel in the park. Again, we do not blame the staff or the hotel manager (who happen to be out there with the cleaning staff, cleaning rooms), but with whoever oversees the property that seems to be more concerned with other aspects, rather than their customers. As other reviews have pointed out, if you want lightning fast internet, television, or fancy and spacious accommodations, then look elsewhere lest you be sorely disappointed. However, everything is clean, housekeeping is on the ball, and, in my humble opinion, the staff here are the friendliest we encountered in Yellowstone. Also the food options have something for everyone. If you are here to enjoy breathtaking natural beauty in a FANTASTIC location (and, like us, you dislike camping!) then check out Grant's Village! The location alone makes this place worth it. *I will note that I changed my initial ranking of a 5 down to a 4 because once we left Yellowstone and stayed in other hotels on the way home, we realized just how cramped the accommodations were in Grant's Village... for double the price of a normal hotel room. Roosevelt Lodge is the closest place to stay near Lamar Valley, which has the best animal viewing in Yellowstone. We got up very early the day of our stay and saw a black bear, grizzlies, antelope and many buffalo -- as well as wolves (take a telescope or good zoom lens to see them as they are usually a ways away). Cabins are rustic, so know that going in. They're meant to be and that's a great part of the fun of staying here. They are clean and comfortable. The Lake and Marina are close and were able to see a handful of sites along the road one day and the rest the other on our way out. What a memorable experience we had at Bay Bridge.
