Found cute pot, plants and figurine that I asked inside if they could plant, they stated yes that provided that service and took me outside to a lady talking on the phone. We could tell she was VERY annoyed by this, and she grabbed the glasses, simply said “OH” and rolled her eyes and we never saw her again. Mind you we did want to grab a glass after and sit and enjoy for a while but her attitude was so unwelcoming and off putting that we left. Especially since we were told we were able to sit there with our food, I’m sorry if that isn’t a thing but how would we know? We don’t live far and like to spend the afternoon enjoying a tasting in the area but I won’t be coming back here.

We all agreed it was not to our liking. While the Sav was smooth and not grassy like New Zealand blends, the reds had a wet stone—mossy taste which was not enjoyable for us. While they should be 1oz there was not a measuring spout on the bottle so I don’t believe they came out to 1oz. Attended a wine tasting on 5/25/18 hosted by the Operations Manager (Brian). Like a pearl inside of an oyster, the establishment opens up into a very welcoming and lavish tasting room despite its unassuming outside appearance. The wine flight consisted of 7 different tastings, 1x Rose, 4x Chardonnay and 2x Pinot Noir pours. While all of the wines were amazing, the White Hill Chardonnay was my personal favorite. Brian was extremely friendly and his wine knowledge was unsurpassed--he was not only able to answer questions concerning Liquid Farm's approach to wine, but also very deep technical questions concerning a variety of wine related topics (including wine/cork chemistry, industry trends, coopers, etc.). We also met the winemaker James (who was also very friendly) and even received a complimentary tour of the winery. The Chard was excellent, the multiple vintages/vineyards of the Pinots was a really unique, and enjoyable way to sample many excellent Pinots, and the Syrahs/Grenaches were also excellent. It's very apparent they put a lot of focus into each of their bottlings. As a bonus, Mia also played acoustic guitar and sang for us (guitar and voice excellent) as closing time approached, making it truly one of the most enjoyable afternoons we've ever spent enjoying excellent wine!!!

However you have to act fast because supply does not! While you are their, the sparkling wines are amazing but we were lucky enough to grab a bottle of "Boat on a Goat" before they were all gone. The bottle that made us life long fans. If I haven't gushed enough, they also have a lovely section of unique oddities to purchase from mounted antlers, alters, soaps, candles, jewelry, and of course my favorite witchcraft/pagan/celtic/norse like products! Guaranteed not cursed. I used a mat that I bought for my own little setup and it currently helps the skull stop whispering at 3am! No more nyquil for my sleepless nights. My last visit I purchased a lantern that I am excited to fill with a scented candle, to maybe scare away the 7 ft tall corrupted old god that lives in my closet next to the self improvement books. Spoiler, the old god refuses to read the books. Dreamcote is a must go for any enthusiast of wine, adventurer, and downright playful human being. The owner also has bees. Bees are badass.

When he found out we hadn't made a reservation he started in on how slammed he was about to get and how he wanted to manage expectations, that tastings take 2.5 hours, and how people ignore the sign and of course we had, so we were still apologetic and thankful and just told him we'd get two bottles so he wouldn't have to worry about us making him more busy. (mind you it was just two of us) After bringing the bottles and the glasses he didn't have to do anything for us the whole time but it was clear he didn't really want to. It never got super busy, plus while we were there about 40 min another party of 5 just came in a sat down without a reservation and we heard him tell them it's ok it's slow today. Then when it came time and we walked in to pay the $130 for drinking two bottles with a view he was just as avoidant and unfriendly. So it just felt a little personal. We have a place in the area because we fell in love with this wonderful part of Santa Barbara county, the people and wineries are generally so welcoming and feel like community. With an appointment required and a few minutes of driving on a private road to get into the estate, we assumed we were going to have an elevated experience. Even though my wife mentioned to him she prefers reds over whites and asked him if he could bring the red wine tastings out (partly to speed up the whole experience) he said this was the order they go in. It got to the point where I went inside and paid just so we could leave faster. We honestly didn’t want to be there any longer than we had to be, and we won’t recommend the winery to anyone. We instantly fell in love with how remote it is and how you truly feel like you are surrounded by nothing by nature. It’s set back from the street so we didn’t have to worry about cars zooming by like at other venues. Between the vineyards, the oak trees and spring/summer poppies, the setting is absolutely picturesque. Not only is the venue stunning but the staff, especially Tara Creighton are top notch. It was important for us to be able to connect with the staff and Tara did an amazing job of working with us and helping to manage the event on the day of. She truly went above and beyond and we are so very thankful for all her help. Zaca Mesa was very flexible and catered to our specific desires and vision. The site fee was very reasonable and it allowed us to spend money on other details like live music vs paying a fortune for just the venue. Another one of our favorites things about Zaca Mesa and arguably one of the biggest factors in our decision, is their wine. The wine is delicious and being able to choose between both Tread and Zaca Mesa wines allowed us to have the variety that we were looking for. Our overall experience with Zaca Mesa was incredible. We are grateful for the memories we made there and for all the incredible staff that helped to make our day perfect. They have seating outside where you can bring your picnic and they will bring the wine tasting series to you. We all opted for the red tasting flight because Zaca is really known for its syrahs.
