The coffee took around ten minutes to be served, the man serving was really nice and served us with a smile, coffee was pretty average, about ten or so minutes later our baguettes came my partner's had butter and mine had no egg so I asked where the egg was and he took it back returning with egg on my baguette. The baguettes were pretty tasteless, cheapest doughy bread and very cheap sausage, bacon and egg, very little outlay but pretty large profit I'd imagine. Our two baguettes and coffees came to over £15 and we're really disappointing. Oh well somewhere we tried but won't be returning, shame really it's in a decent spot and has some potential.

I had no idea Middleton Hall existed and it's only been years that I've lived a 15 mins drive away! You live and learn. The coffee shop and surrounding courtyard are lovely. It was a warm day so nice to have somewhere to stop and have a break. They have a decent menu for savoury light bites and cakes. I had a lovely iced caffelatte, (I asked for one shot of espresso because I find the UK are apt at making very strong paint stripper-like coffees.) The one shot turned out perfectly, mild, rounded and refreshing. I also had a slice of Victoria sponge and the sponge was moist and the jam delicious within. My Dad had a fantastic freshly made sausage and egg sandwich. I found the food and drink to be really impressive and would defo recommend. I have some constructive criticism regarding the service though. There seemed to be at least four or five people on duty for a relatively quiet cafe (for the time we went.) My cake and drink were served straight away but they took a while with my Dad's sandwich so by the time the sandwich arrived I'd finished my food. I had to chase Dad's sandwich up and heard the woman I'd asked about it ask her colleague who I then heard say she'd do it now. This was not great considering the amount of staff they had and the fact the cafe was quite quiet. When the sandwich did come it was great. You have to help yourself to sauces and serviettes etc, but we had to find that out ourselves. It would have been nice to have been told that on buying the food. A little more training for staff seems to be required. Still, on the whole a good experience but next time I'll be making sure I don't eat until my Dad's stuff arrives. By the way, the chairs we found to be uncomfortable but have recently taken to taking our own cushions with us when we go to new places, which we were glad for yesterday as the chairs were too hard for us.

The lady taking and running the orders was lovely and very pleasant. She took my order at the table and brought everything over to me I have left 3 stars as the inside of the cafe appears to be a bit neglected when it comes to the finer details, the name on the wall looks old and a bit tacky and the place could do with a fresh lick of paint and just something to make it more inviting to eat there. I ordered the fish and chips alongside a hot chocolate and whilst the hot chocolate and chips were nice, the fish was a massive disappointment, especially given the price. The batter was verging on being burnt and the fish itself was overcooked, chewy and dry. I would have also expected a larger portion, again, given the price. The ladies working there were very lovely and helpful, the service was pretty speedy, food was very delicious & the whole place was very clean. The downstairs is for dining in and Takeaway food, whereas upstairs is for those who want the soft play. If you go for soft play you order food and drinks at the till downstairs and the ladies will bring the food and drinks to you at your table which is great. With the soft play section we especially loved just how it was clearly made with parents in mind with the mirrors facing the play area so that when you're sat at your table with a coffee or food you can see where your little ones are for peace of mind.
