My wife and I had breakfast there on Thursday, 8/13/15, and can say that is the last time we ever eat there again! Talk about being overrated for very poor inadequet undermanaged service! What a waist of our time and experieince in this ebstablishment!
The food was medeocur to OK. The service was (Jeff) awful! The place was empty except two tables with folks outside, and no one at a table inside, at 9:54am. in the morning. A younger pretty blond girl with heavy makup was waiting on tables outside, so we decided to go inside, as it was breezy. That was our first mistake. "Jeff", with a look in his eyes of being high on something, greeted us with a look of not knowing where to seat us in the empty dinning room. Again, at this time the dinning room was completely empty! Then when we ordered Coffee and a glass of Water,each, it took him 15 minutes to bring us only two cups of coffee, one for my wife and the other for me. No water, then he walked away to some kind of computer monitor on the front counter, and entered soemthing. We waited another 10 minutes, and then he came back and took our order , and brought a glass of Water for each of us. At that point a single gentelmen with a small baby girl came in sat down, (wearing a "I'm with NPR t-shirt") upon which "Jeff" visited with and coo, cooed the baby for a while. While the single gentleman fed egg yoke to the (8 month old ?) baby girl. We "finally" ordered a 1-Breakfast Bendict -Half, and I orderd the Spinach Mozzerella, Omlet. They both were OK, however, we have eaten in some of the finest reataurnats in this country, in all our travels, and this was a menue pick overated as OK, for the price charged. The Omlet was medeocure at best. Then we waited and waited for a coffee refill, which "Jeff" didn't return to take care of. We had to ask the youg blond girl when she walked past our table, after serving some else. Meanwhile "Jeff" was busy walking back and forth, into the kitchen, entering something into the counter computer system, too busy to notice we were waiting for more service, or more coffe, or a Water refill, even bringiong our bill! He even brought coffee to a tabel near us, and turned and walked back towards the kitchen and did not offer us any coffee refill. So, after waiting for aproximately 15 more minutes, after finishing our meal, we got up walked to the front register counter, again he had the look of being high on something. and proceeded to print out our bill for me to pay. No Thank You, No Thank You for coming, No, how was the food?, NO NOTHING!! We left, and promised ourselves, NEVER AGAIN! However, we plan to tell all our business aquaintences and friends! It could have been a pleasing experieince, but, alas, it was very substandard for a city like Grand Marais!
