My friend and I met here often for lunch when we're in Alpine. It's really cute and we've always sat outside on their back patio. The inside is dark with a cabin feel and decor.
The walnut chicken salad sandwich (croissant) on their lunch special is my favorite and I order it every time now. I also love their thick fries so I get those as the side option. The lunch specials also comes with a free dessert. Their banana cream pie is delicious!

First time at this joint. Looks like a local favorite. It's very rustic looking inside and out. A woodsy-cabiny decor, if you will. The staff greeted us warmly and and we were seated quickly. Our waitress was very pleasant. There were three of us and we ordered three different items.
I had their roast beef melt, it was a bit dry but had good flavor. The bread was nicely toasted. The fries and onion rings were seasoned well. The iced tea was fresh to death. The other two enjoyed their food as well. We'll definitely come back.

This place is a gem. One of our favorite local establishments and been coming here for decades. One of the top must-eat places in Alpine, in my opinion. The food is always incredible with generous portions and the outdoor seating and vibe is lovely.

Very busy on a Saturday morning which is typical. It’s worth the wait. A Cracker Barrel type atmosphere, log cabin style. I always have a breakfast there, nice little motorcycle ride from central San Diego. Today I had a cheese and bacon omelet ( huge) with hash browns ( huge). My wife had asparagus scramble that was phenomenal (huge) with home fries (huge). Service was excellent as always . Our server today was Karlee who was very gracious. I hit this place about once a month and I am never disappointed. Every dish is done right.

As for the food itself, it seemed made with fresh ingredients, but the taste was a bit lacking, at least in the eggs. I ordered the Asparagus Scramble (Sunday special). While I really appreciate the mix of fresh veggies, it tasted a bit bland. Adding some spiciness would go a long way towards improvement.
Someone in my party ordered the machaca burrito; it was mostly filler potato with a bit of shredded beef.
The pancakes and the biscuits are huge. We ordered a half-serving of biscuits and gravy, and it was still enormous.
They didn't scrimp on the hash browns and home fries portions.

The only good thing on this menu is the balsamic butter sadly it was paired with stale, day old garlic knots which seemed frozen from the first initial bite. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and the pasta was cooked perfectly unfortunately the meatballs taste like low grade dog food and the sauce has absolutely no seasoning besides the "fresh" basil thrown on top. Also we ordered a salad and recieved cheesecake?!?

This restaurant has very delicious and top quality Italian food. On this occasion it seems to me that the pasta and puree only needed a little salt, but it turned out very well with what I added. The service was good and the waitress was very friendly. Everything tasted fantastic and everything else around us that others ordered looked and smelt just as fantastic. The portions were larger than expected which was nice.

If you haven't been to the new Grove Steakhouse, you need to! Aside from being the best value in SoCal, it's the most amazing food to be found. It's true that the high ceilings make it much more spacious feeling and some would say a bit less intimate, but it is also not nearly as loud as the old location which the makes it more intimate as far as I'm concerned. The fireplaces really add to the ambiance and they have room for large parties now. The best addition is the weekend brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Amazing! There isn't a bad option on the menu. Smoked salmon bagel with a twist or crab benedict or steak and eggs...you can't go wrong with the food. The bartenders (shout out to Kendall and Drew!) Margaritas, long islands, martinis, etc. are all super delicious and very reasonably priced. The servers and waitstaff (Joseph, Chuy, Anthony, and Alex) and all top shelf. Rafael, don't ever stop doing what you do! You run a tight ship, and your aim for perfection shows. Thank you all for showing up every day and showcasing your skills!

For a place that charges $50-$85 for a steak, I’d expect better quality food and service and for them to also make our steak correctly. My father-in-law ordered his steak medium, and it came out well done. We waited an hour for 2 entrees, 2 appetizers and a salad so we really didn’t want to wait even longer for them to remake the steak, so he just ate it anyway.
I ordered steamed clams and there was barely any meat, and whatever meat there was, was so tiny. I could fit 3 pieces of clams on a fork. It was basically $22 for shells and broth. I complained to the manager twice. The 2nd time, he asked what I wanted him to do about it and I said take it off my bill. He reluctantly did so.
When we were ready to go, we couldn’t find our waiter. We went to the host and asked if we could get our check and she said we had to wait for our waiter to bring it. It took over 20 mins to pay our bill and leave.

To continue our great vacation/celebration we were encouraged by the Willows Hotel staff to have a nice date night celebration here but ended up so upset and disgusted. We ordered wine and salad to start and Porterhouse steak for our entrees. To start, the wine did not arrive until after the salads were finished. I'm quite sure the people who came after us received their food and wine before we did. The waitress was very apologetic so we continued. There was a long wait in between the salad and the entree. When the steak arrived at the table it was cold. I informed the waitress of the situation and very concerned, Ms. Ace refered us to the Manager, which made our experience a total disgust with his treatment. He came to our table was not concerned nor apologetic. Rather, he attempted to blame the waitress by stating that the server needs to improve. After an attempt to converse with him, this individual told us that we could pay for what we ate and leave. Instead of an attempt to satisfy the customer, he pressured us to leave and free up the table. So far as we had to walk out with the bottle of wine in our hand. He made us feel like we were trying to get something for free and still charged us. It really ruined our evening and we will not be going again.

Hit and miss ,, had a great meal there 1st time 2nd time I was asked to leave for complaining about the calamari ,, I did accidentally break the bottom of the stemware cause Im heavy handed,, they jumped to conclusion and had me and my guest escorted off the property and said I was banned for 30 days. Honestly was so disappointed how they handled it and they made a situation out of nothing. The last weekend I was there we had a nice calamari appetizer enough for 3 people and we had Amazing buffalo ribeye steaks . The following week when the so called incident happened the calamari came out with 6 small pieces hence why I complained. Felt like We were treated very poorly.

Food is fairly priced for what you receive. Many tempting menu items. We ordered the Fish & Chips, which was weird: too much dough drowning out the tiny piece of fish inside + batter was not what you'd expect for Fish & Chips. Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits were only worth mentioning with the honey butter on them. This location is inside the casino. The front desk employee was very friendly, greeting us & taking out orders. The orders here are done first. You pay and then self seat. They then bring the food to your table. Keep in mind it is not a table service restaurants there are no servers. We needed a few things like extra limes & to go boxes, we were willing to get ourselves no problem, but the employees on the floor made it feel like they absolutely did not want to help us. It was kinda awkward. Now about the food, it was very tasty big portions. The rice I didn't enjoy it was dry & stale. I've never had mushy pad Thai...have now. the noodles were falling apart just getting them with the fork. not sure chopsticks would have been able to pick any of it up.
Lumpia ...was ok. egg roll size and wrapper, but had a decent amount of meat and a good flavor. main issue is Lumpia are not meat egg rolls....

Got here at 5:30pm on a Saturday. 20 min wait. There’s two registers. We knew what we wanted to order while we were in line, which made our check out so much quicker when we got to the counter. While the couple before us was still deciding on what to order when they got to the register. Tables are first come first serve and it was packed.
There’s a line because the tables are full. But once we sat down, it took 10 mins to get our food.
We got beef pho ($12) and beef Chinese drunken noodles ($15). My fiancé who is very particular with his pho and sensitive to msg, actually enjoyed the pho. He’s had it twice here and it was my first time.
When the server brought the bowl out, I could smell the aroma. Then I took a sip of the broth and not bad. $12 price point is actually pretty good too. They also give a ton of noodles. It came with limes, bean sprouts and basil. We asked for an empty small bowl so that I could share.
On the other hand, the drunken noodles were bland with no flavor. Basically just plain noodles and the chef forgot to add in oyster sauce and spices. I took it home and added spices myself.
For water, they give out free mini Viejas water bottles. If you need take out containers, it’s on in the corner.
Overall, don’t come during rush hour if you’re hungry. Otherwise, you’re expected to wait. Saw a lot of take out orders being prep too.

I stopped in today and ordered a few pastries. Wonderful unique selection of pastries. I had a tomato mozzarella croissant, a s’mores croissant, and a raspberry oat bar. The tomato mozzarella pastry seemed raw, it tasted and had the texture of underbaked dough. On a positive note, the tomatoes were very fresh. The s’mores croissant was a little better - it was fully baked, but still had a strange doughy flavor. It did not have any butteriness. The raspberry oat bar similarly did not have a buttery flavor. Waited 10m with nobody coming to front and just left. To top this off this was the 3RD time Ive visited this place, the first two times they were closed for vacation. Two vacations in a 3 week period and every time the store gets closed. Hire some help to staff your store please cause your 1 man operation does not work.

Tried Crobean and had a disappointing experience. It was 90+ out and no a/c. Food looked great. Ordered a few macrons, one pastry and a quiche. $40. I was surprised by how expensive but ok. We asked for water cups and were told we could purchase. I understand at a $1 donut shop not having gratuitous water, but when you are paying so much, it feels weird and cheap. Especially with the heat out.
She asked if I wanted my food heated and I did. The flavor of the quiche was good but crust was soft and I wondered if it had been microwaved. The pastry was beautiful and I was shocked when I took a bite that it was so tough I could barely chew it. I walked if she had microwaved it and she said she did. Which is surprising as that will ruin a pastry. I let her know (kindly) that it was super tough and she basically said “oh” and did not attempt to do anything to address the fact that my overpriced food was ruined. Super disappointing and do not recommend.

Nothing better than a cold pint and a cigar while people watching from the patio. Been wanting to come here for a long time and was not disappointed!! Everything is super fresh here and literally the sushi melts in your mouth! The salt and pepper chicken and the popcorn green beans is a must try if you haven't yet, so crispy and seasoned to perfection! My friend and I could not resist eating everything off the plate! It was THAT good!! And to top it off.....the drinks we got was Citrus Mistress and Rose milk green tea. It was delicious 😋!

The chicken in my teriyaki chicken tasted off, like it was too old to be eaten and it wasn't even stir fried. More like boiled and teriyaki sauce dumped on it. The chicken wasn't cut into edible bite-size pieces and there was fat on it. The vegetables, like the broccoli, the stems were hard and the heads were mushy. There is no way this meal was made to order, it tasted like it was prepared two days ago and heated up in a microwave and not even to temperature. I couldn't eat it. I have to say, this was the worst meal I have ever eaten out anywhere. I will never go back! Not ever!

The waiters, and don't get me wrong, I'm not in any way prejudiced, but when I go out to eat at a Chinese restaurant I expect to be served and have an atmosphere with Chinese. I felt like I was in a multi culture restaurant and it just didn't work for me. I know of great Chinese restaurants in San Diego that have that feel and that's exactly where I will go and the food is fantastic! I only came here because of a group I was with. Next time, I will make an excuse not to come.

We enjoyed a very nice brunch here recently. There was outdoor seating available which was nice but small. We opened the large umbrella over the little table at some point to keep it out of my son's face. When closed, the bottom edge was too close for comfort and convo. My son ordered the country fried steak and eggs with biscuits and gravy. Although we both thought the gravy could have had more sausage, the biscuits and gravy were pretty delicious. I didn't try the steak but he loved it. My meal of chicken and waffles was quite tasty. The bone-in chicken was incredíbly crispy, large, and delicious. Facilities: Upon entering the establishment you immediately notice the modern red, grey, and black decor. The seating area is very open and spacious with tables and chairs in the middle and booths on the outer walls. All the tables seemed clean and the area was tidy. The food is Devine! My husband and I both ordered the baked potato with a choice of smoked meat. He ordered the brisket and i ordered thebpulled pork. Both are wonderful and MASSIVE! We were here to celebrate after winning at the casino.
We ordered and sat to chit chat not realizing it has been an hour long and everyone else had been served.
We are customer #13.
I asked this server, nicely to please check if our order is ready.
She said, "okay" but, proceeded to cleaning the table obviously ignoring me. I can't wait and growing impatient i decided to check our order.
Apparently, our order was not ready coz they came to us and demanded for the receipt
Fortunately, we kept the receipt and was able to present it. But, question is why ask if we were issued a number? Answer, they can't figure out our order.
We ended up cancelling. Yeah, we got refunded but, we freaking wasted an hour of our time waiting.

Refund was fine but, did we really have to pay for our drinks after we had to wait for long?

The beer, as always, exceptionally good and the food is equally good.
You have your typical pub food, sandwiches, burgers, finger food, plus BBQ plates. The beer battered fries and onion rings are delicious compliments to the food.
You have a variety of sauces including one with peaches, which is delicious. We have a dessert which was a peanut butter sandwich, fried - as all things should be, with pairs nicely with a stout.

We ordered multiple sandwiches for 2 nearby events. We stopped in to order the night before each. Dominique helped us, and was a delight! So personable and helpful. She wasn't there for the first days pick up. There were a couple glitches for that pick up, the order wasn't ready, they weren't picking up the phone, then gave us a ball of napkins out of the dispenser, verses a stack we could sit next to the sandwiches and no forks to use in the vegetables we ordered on the side. I have been eating at Salsa for over 6 years and continue to love it for the same reasons. First, it is the lone Mexican restaurant on the east side of Alpine, and that is sometimes useful to me vs. a place on the west side of Alpine. Second, Salsa's food is simple, understated, and just plain good. I have eaten so many beef tacos with rice and beans at Salsa because that combination exemplifies what I mean. I chose this place because we were starved after visiting a nearby animal attraction with kids and I have no experience with Southern food. My partner has some authentic experience from travels. I was hoping to order over the phone on my way home so I could just pick up with limited wait and get home with dinner. Well my commute is usually 30 min and unfortunately I was on hold for 20 of those mins. By the time I got to the store, I was better off ordering online and waiting the 10-20 mins. The most disturbing part was that a female answered (around 5:05pm) took my phone number and name to start the order and then asked me to hold, then nothing. You should have more people on the afternoon shift or make it a point that if you start the order, you should finish it. This is the third time going for pizza here. This time me and two other customers are waiting at the counter for about ten minutes. Called for them whistled and got no response. We could see the two guys in the back but got no response from them. The rap music was so loud I had to raise my voice to talk to the guys in the waiting area. I go through the drive through for breakfast about 2 or 3 times a week. I've done this for about 4 years and I always get the same thing, #22 sausage egg cheese croissant sandwich only, large coffee and orange juice. In the last 3 or 4 times my coffee had a lot of grounds in it. The first time I accepted this a mistake and just drank it (awful tbough it was). The second time I went back into the counter. They told me that's just the way it is. I asked and recieved a refund for the coffee, NO APPOLOGY.
Third time I checked before leaving the drive through, same grounds. I spoke to the shift manager and was told that's the way they make the coffee now. WHAT! In what world does a restaurant believe it's okay to serve coffee like this.
I will never be buying coffee here again. There are other options for me but just less convenient. There are other reasons I can provide if anyone cares.

She asked the owner what kind of dressing they have on the side and the owner pointed to the bottle of their own home made dressing. My wife ended up buying a bottle of the Janos homemade dressing because she said it was amazing! Then our pizzas came, we got the Mediterranean and the bbq chicken. My favorite was the bbq chicken. They don’t use chicken nuggets on their pizza like other places they use real chicken ! I used the Janos dressing on the pizza and it tasted so good! We got the calzone with extra cheese and we all had one piece and we loved it! I was surprised how amazing their roast beef sandwich was! We split into 4 so we each got a good portion because it was a huge size. And yes I used the dressing on thier too 😂😂. Went home with some amazing leftovers and the pizzas were still yummy ! Can’t wait to come back !

Ordered some pizza and wings like we normally do. Never had any issues until today. Wings were all burnt and so were my raviolis which wasn’t a big deal. I did call about my wings being burnt and was told I can return them for new ones. At this point why would I want another batch. I said I can bring them back but didn’t want anymore. I've been living in Alpine for close to 3 years and made my rounds to the different food spots. I tried Janis on a whim and was pleasantly suprised by the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. Then my husband suggested we stop off in Alpine to get some fast food, but as we drove in we saw this strip mall and figured why not walk around. You just don't understand the finesse of the meal itself! The chef has a fine pallet that brought a depth of flavor I had not tasted before!! And I've been to Gordon Ramsay's restaurant in Las Vegas....so trust me when I tell you that the food here is scumpdillicious through every bite!!! If we are ever in this area again, we will definitely be stopping here. This place will be around for a while. So I took a picture of my meal after I began to eat it because it look so savory and I couldn't wait to eat it, also we split a hamburger because we knew that we wouldn't be able to finish one each - they were so accommodating.

We randomly stopped in here for brunch because Janet's was closed up the street and we were super pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The food is high-end to the point where I felt like we should have paid more than we were charged. Turning off the overhead florescent lights would have gone a long way toward improving the ambiance (how about some table top cordless warm LED decoratve lamps that are bright enough to be able to see a little bit instead.) The service was cheerful and friendly and pretty good. The meals were a bit disappointing. I had the Social Burger and the patty was dense and did not seem to have been seasoned. The bacon was cooked well, but expected more than one strip on a $16 sandwich. The onion ring on the burger and the ones in the side order were not really acceptable. Beer battered onion rings can be very tasty. These were overcooked, a very hard crunch; not crispy, but hard. It was hard to determine that any onion (purple) was harmed in the making of them and the batter-ing of the rings was very heavy and thick--I would never recommend purple onion being used for this purpose. My wife's fish and chips were okay, though it seemed to be the same heavy beer batter. Fries were cooked okay, and the apple cabbage slaw was fairly tasty. What should be a nice local place was a bit disappointing and expensive last night. Let's keep working on it, gal's.

The menu has a good assortment of dishes that, as has been previously commented, are unexpectedly higher-end and very good for a very reasonable price. The only problem with the place is that it has zero atmosphere. It looks more like a cafeteria than a place to go and socialize. I get the place is constrained by the location and no outdoor seating, but more could be done on the inside to give it some personality. Stumbled upon this hidden gem. Gourmet fresh food is what you get. Not a vegetarian, but had the vegetarian sampler and it was out of this world. Buffalo cauliflower, soft pretzels with beer cheese, red onion rings and the best brussel sprouts I've ever had in my life!
I had the pot roast for my meal and it was amazingly tender and flavorful. Kids had the Mac and the other tenders. The Mrs had a burger. Everyone was pleased and the beer selection was on point. Will definitely be back!

I am so disappointed in the pizza I received today. I have never had problems with pizza like this before. The pizza was undercooked, soggy, and was drenched in garlic sauce. The pizza box was soaked and heavy. When I lifted some of the toppings the dough was raw.
I called the store and an employee answered. The employee proceeded to argue with me about how he was positive the pizza was cooked thoroughly. He stated that all pizza is cooked the same. He argued with me for about 2 mins before he stated, well I’m just an employee let me get my manager.
The manager was polite and told me she would refund my order. I was not offered a different pizza. She quickly just wanted to refund me my money. I offered to take the pizza to the store to show them exactly what I was talking about but they didn’t want to do that. So now I’m waiting on my refund and my family didn’t get pizza today.
The manager did tell me that in the future I should order the pizza well done.
I won’t be ordering from them again. I rather order from a store that can get the job done correctly the first time and not tell me I’m wrong and that my pizza is cooked all the way.
If I could give them zero stars I would.

Boars head deli meats and super fine eats! It was refreshing, a lovely way to spend an afternoon. They have indoor and outdoor eating, the breeze was nice. Our order was made perfectly, everything was fresh, and our servers were so sweet and helpful. We will absolutely be going back.

We found this deli based on the existing Yelp reviews so we decided to try it on our way back to Tucson. We were greeted by a wonderful gentleman who we found out was a partner there.
I ordered the turkey, bacon and guacamole sandwich. He asked if I wanted crispy bacon, which was such a nice touch because I love crispy bacon. I was then able to add different vegetables. My boyfriend got the Italian sandwich which he absolutely loved. We then asked if we could get a bag of ice to go since we couldn't eat the whole sandwich. They packed it up for us nicely and gave us ice in a bag. We will return! A+++.

They have a good selection of liquor, a recently added wine selection, and a nice meat counter with fresh beef, chicken, and pork, including carne asada and sausages and fresh tortillas that often sell out. They have a food refridgerated area with fresh salsa, ceviche, and occasionally tamales. Condiments like ketchup, sourcream, and a small selection of milk, eggs, and cheese. They also have chips, bread, a small produce area, and some canned and bottled items, popsicles, and candy. On Saturday they often have a street taco sale from 1-4 that is really good and reasonable.
Parking can get busy at times but normally turns over quickly. There is also a laundromat, great pizza, pasta, salad place, Dollar Tree and Jack in the Box in the same little shopping center.

Alpine is a small town. There’s two large stores Barons and Albertsons. Ranch market is a game changer. Like especially now in the summer or the days are so long do you like oh my God I gotta make dinner or someone’s coming over you can quickly go there you can grab shrimp you could grab tortillas you can grab the avocados Mexican cheeses all the fixings and have dinner on the table including buying it from the store in like 40 minutes or less. Wide selection of meats, produce, canned goods, liquor beer and all the fixings. They even have the margarita glasses you could pour a drink into telling you they have it all. Besides that the most important thing is the owner of the workers are bomb! The only recommendation I can make is the salsa not so great but they have everything there you can make your own. If you go to the California Meal Maid on Pinterest look up sauces you’ll find some recipes there!
