Decadent thick pasta with a generous helping of truffles and a rich cheesy white sauce was the absolute perfect dinner for the cool rainy night. Paired with a crisp Malvajiza wine it was so good! While smoking is a big thing in Slovenia, it would be great if it could be isolated to certain parts of the restaurant as we ate our dinner in a cloud of smoke the whole time which was a little bit unpleasant. Sadly, the lights in the restaurant kept going off too throughout dinner but to their credit the wait staff supplied lamps to help guests. For Bled it was a very good value dinner!

However, we were very disappointed with the “Highland” menu. They served us crumbs with water. The marinated trout didn’t seem to be marinated at all, it tasted like raw fish and nothing else. The fish dish supposed to have hints of balsamic and apricot but all it could be tasted was the raw fish. The porcini ice cream was the worse thing we had, needed to rush back to our room to wash our mouths, the after taste was not pleasant. They were serving the next dish before cleaning the plates from the previous serving. At some point our table was full of dirty dishes and silverware. The other dishes were ok, but nothing memorable. I believe the restaurant and chef put a lot of work and dedication to craft a nice experience and we just happened to run into not their optimal experiment, which happens.

We did reserve a table, so we were seated and served quickly but as the night progressed, the wait increased as the place got busier. I ordered Radler - draft beer and Fanta but I am fairly certain it was just a pint of draft, not Fanta but the beer was drinkable and I did not complain. Cocktails are well made and not an awful price compared to the rest of Europe and the UK. However, it seemed they were running out of components as the night went along, which is understandable as like I mentioned it gets busy. I was very satisfied with my food, the bacon and truffle risotto - basically a twist on a classic bacon and mushroom carbonara, swapping the pasta for rice. Unfortunately, my girlfriend who is vegetarian ordered the vegan burger and was less impressed with her meal. The burger lacked any structure and tasted overly processed, for something that is meant to be vegan. She was not a fan of the tomato puree instead of a traditional sauce and even the buns were lifeless and soggy. Everything was however, very filling. Staff could be a little more attentive but again on a busy night it is understandable. Prices are definitely reflective of it not being a place for locals, but for easy eating, I would recommend it due to the vast variety, as long as you are not vegetarian inclined. *EDIT* We have since been back to the Art Cafe. We tried a couple of pasta dishes, some of the smoothies and a lunch time offering of a toastie. Again food is good. Nothing to write home about. It would seem the further you go into their menu, the less the individual dishes stand out. By far the biggest problem was the lack of attention given by the waiting staff. They are all very polite but the second time going, it was the middle of the week - very quiet, maybe only half a dozen people in the restaurant. The waiting staff, however, nowhere to be seen. The paint on the inside in the outside of the doors is peeling. The paint on the exterior is also very grimy. Also, the walls between rooms is quite thin plus if people leave their balcony doors open. This is particularly frustrating when the individuals in the suite next you are having an argument and it’s loud enough for you to hear, but unfortunately the walls aren’t thin enough for you to actually make out the words of what they’re saying so unfortunately, you can never decide who side of the argument here we are on. Which frankly is just frustrating. Apparently the hotel will be going through a refresh soon and once that is completed, I cannot wait to come back. Nearly every single person I came in contact with at this hotel was incredibly friendly and incredibly helpful. I only encountered one person who was not friendly/rude which was one of the employees at breakfast. He had the same sort of brisk personality every single day of my day so I think that may just be how he is. On the day of check out, the weather was absolutely terrible but Asil took my luggage and myself to my car with umbrellas. Frankly that is amazing service. Overall, this hotel is an absolute gem. My only regret is not staying longer.

The first time was a 10/10, which even made us come back the day after. However for the second day, we ordered 3 burgers, 3 sides and asked for 3 drinks. Unlucky I could not play big course since there was big tournament, but played the Lake course and have to admit, that is the best 9 holes I ever played. Perfect greens, with nice true roll. Holes with sharp edges. Tee boxes with flat surface cut as good as fairways. One would say that 9 holes courses are always for bad players, but not here. Even this part of resort is quite challenging. I enjoyed every hole, particularly I would say the last one with small lake in play. Finishing my game going to this locker room to refresh and ready to drive back home. Already knowing I have to come back to play big course and stay in hotel to have FULL experience of this well know gem in Slovenia. Thank you for hospitality, worth every penny spend there.

They don’t promote it because they do not have to. The food and service speaks for itself. An incredible dining experience from the second we walked in until the second we left. We had the 5 courses and the chef explained the menu to us - you could taste the love and passion in every single course. However, the food and service was unfortunately not at all worth the price (we paid ~150€ per person). The atmosphere and views are super beautiful. Also what they call „greeting from the kitchen“ was bread and butter, and the bread was so stale you could hardly rip it apart and then it was dry and hard to chew in your mouth. We were really excited about this place based on the previous reviews, but were quite disappointed.
