We had a party of five and waited at least an hour to get seated. The young girls at the hosted desk were not overly concerned that we had my 99 year old mother with us for her birthday. We were told they have to keep them open in case a large group came in. When we finally were seated they added a chair and it didn’t cause any problems. The couple of large tables were still unused. Food was good but nothing great. The wait time for the food was also longer than expected. I did go to the bar while we waited to be seated and the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere inside is really nice, servers are attentive, and the menu is decently sized. I'd say wverything we ordered came out fairly good. I got broccoli cheddar soup which was mediocre (tasted cheap, salty). The short rib platter was more of a pot roast tbh-- a solid sized portion although it felt lower in fat content than a rib cut, more of a chuck imo and just a touch drier than I'd prefer. The root vegetables could have been a bit softer too-- otherwise, the sauce and mashies were excellent. We also ordered a special which had ribs, sirloin, and chicken breast alongside Mac and corn on the cob. Everything on the plate was pretty good aside from the chicken breast which had a rubbery texture. With this being said, we liked the place and I wouldn't object to coming back and trying some other items on the menu.

It was my first time back since the renovations. I came by boat. Being a jersey shore local for over 30 years this was the first time I drove my boat to River Rock. My party and I were immediately greeted by the Dock Hand, John. John waived me in with ease, and with his assistance I was able to dock my boat like a pro. Upon going inside we were able to get bar seats and were greeted by two bartenders both of which were attentive to us and quite humorous. I do not recall their names but the male was probably about 6'5" and bald and the woman was short with blonde hair. We enjoyed some ice cold beverages, ate some $10 special pizza pies, and had some laughs. I remember being nervous about getting my boat out of the docking area upon leaving as it was my first time doing this at River Rock. The Dock Hand John was still working and I told him that I am somewhat new to the dock and dine experience. John aided me and gave great instructions on the best way to get out of the docking area and even helped me get out by using a technique with the boat lines. John really helped make this process a breeze and my party and I were on our way with no issues at all and the best part about it was John was extremely kind and professional about the whole thing on a very hot day which I'm sure made the job that much more difficult. Kitchen manager came out with a bunch of excuses rather than solutions. She told me order something else and its on us. I ordered the Filet Mignon and that came out really well done. So I was there for an hour and no food. Horrible service. Despite not eating, I tried to give the bartender a tip on my credit card but I had no bill. A patron (non worker) confronted me and gave me a hard time for not giving a tip (He was obviously intoxicated). I verbally defended myself and just left. Manager call the police while I already left the establishment. Next thing I know 6 cop cars come in and I explained what happened and they said well there is no problem as we can see but I am no longer allowed in the restaurant. I was told I am banned for life at any Houlihan's, mean while she just literally gave me a Free Appetizer coupon for my next visit. So they screwed up 2 dishes back to back, you have a drunk patron give me a hard time over a situation that he had nothing to do with and I get banned from a manager who shouldn't be in that position. Everything is always fresh and delicious. My husband loves the Justin-and Turkey Justin when it’s a special (it should be a regular item!). We were waved over to our table by a waitress that wasn't nice at all very cold. Food was horrible not the food I remember having when I ate there years ago. As a family we have eaten at this diner since the mid 80's even with their name changes. Received the wrong breakfast order which our waiter quickly fixed. My western omelet was cold the side order of potatoes where brunt, rye toast was seemed like just warmed bread soaked in butter. Person I was with their food was no better the bacon seemed to be microwaved and the taste was off. This diner has been in Brick a very long time it's a shame the food isn't up to what it use to be which is my opinion. Not sure if I really would want to try lunch or dinner.
