My boyfriend and I never leave reviews, but we really wanted to after we visited sabor Español. We found them on Google maps and couldn’t have been more impressed. The chef/owner is from Ibiza, and he cooked a delicious seafood paella for us. We went in slow season and it felt like having our very own private chef. Sangria is also my drink of choice anywhere I visit, and this might’ve been my favourite sangria I’ve ever had (his own recipe as well). The desserts we had were also different from anything else we had in Costa Rica, which the chef created as his own specialities. The turn off for this restaurant is hair-raising, so be prepared to take that slow. I could eat that food anytime again! We started with the antipasto charcuterie plate, which was mouthwatering. The asparagus souflé was by far the best we ever had and the pizzas gave you the feeling you were sitting and eating in Italy. As we already had a lot to eat at that moment, we took the remainders and finished it the other day! They have a large variety of drinks, including the finest beers. As they have a large choice of Belgian beers, I asked why (thinking maybe there would have been some Belgian connection somehow), but the answer was as simple as great: they consider those (Belgian) beers to be the finest (which is undoubtedly true) and that’s the reason they put those on the drink menu. We felt deep healing from the food, the atmosphere, company and the love from Chef Jazmin.
