Loved our visit to this restaurant. Made a reservation online, an hr before we arrived on a weekday.
We ordered the following items: roti and curry, chicken satay, fresh spring rolls, Tom kha soup, lamb with red curry, pineapple fried rice, basil fried rice, dungenous crab fried rice, pad Thai with chicken, tiramisu, mango stick rice and a bunch of cocktails.

Go here! Our family and friends have been visiting Kacha Thai for a very long time and we are never disappointed. The service is simply outstanding and the food feels like a treat every time we go. Of course, we have our favorite dishes and typically order those even though everything on the menu is delicious. I also love the portions are big enough to have leftovers for a second meal the next day.
One fun fact is I’m told the two elephant pictures at the back of the restaurant are a pair. Supposedly, one is male and one is female. It’s great fun to examine the pictures closely to figure out which is which. Check it out and let me know if you can identify them.

I had eaten at this restaurant several years ago when I was in town to see family. It was a memorable experience then, so I was very happy to get together with my family and friends for dinner.
We ordered some Lady Fingers and Calamari for appetizers, followed by Tom Yum Soup.
For our main dishes we had the Crab Fried Rice, Pad Thai, Pumpkin Curry (chicken), Pad Prik King (pork), and Sizzling Seafood Platter. The food was amazing and we inhaled everything. It was fresh and moderately spicy, just how I like it.
For dessert, we shared a couple of Mango with Sticky Rice. A perfect finish to our meal.
I was so glad it was as I remembered from years ago.

As a Sichuan cuisine enthusiast to eat here solely based on the name and photos, it's a big disappointment. First glance found no Sichuan dish on any 5 other tables in a Sunday evening. Sure enough, none of the three dishes we ordered qualified the word "authentic" on menu.
However, all dishes were all average from an average Chinese restaurant point of view.

Hands down one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve ever been to! The food is fresh, flavorful, and comes out hot every time. The orange chicken was perfectly crispy with just the right amount of sauce, the dumplings were packed with flavor, and the fried rice was delicious without being heavy or greasy.

I came here with a few friends ordering several dishes. I had the chicken shawarma wraps which were soo GOOD – packed with flavor & you can tell it's authenticity. The shawarma fries tri tip was delicious, I usually like regular fries but THIS added so much flavor to fries I never knew I needed, the sauce was finger licking good! We also had the Cheese Manakish with olives and parsley, which was a perfect starter for me. I ordered the chicken kebab salad, and it was so fresh and flavorful — the sumac dressing on the side made it even tastier. I debated between a 2 or a 3, but went with a 3 because of the friendly staff.
We made a reservation for a brunch on a Sunday. We didn't realize the farmers market and outdoor market were going on at the same time so parking was a challenge. When I called, they were very understanding and told me not to worry at all.
As soon as we sat, we were informed that none of the chicken dishes, including the fried chicken sandwich and the side order were available. It was a good 1/3rd of their menu. Bummer because we were all really looking forward to trying the chicken and waffles.
We all ordered the kopi avocado and a pitcher of the pineapple mimosa. I really enjoyed the creaminess of the coffee, and the mimosa was fine.
We then started with the Birds nest roti chanaj and the green shakahuka. Both dishes were good and really flavorful, especially the chickpeas (side that came with the roti). The toast that came with the shakshuka was partly burnt, however.
For our main entree, we ordered the burger, dengdeng sando, and the nasi goreng set with an extra prawn since there were 4 of us. About 15 minutes after we placed the order, we were then informed that they were also out of the dengdeng sando. Annoyed that most things on their menu were not available on a Sunday at noon, we just stuck with the nasi goreng and burger for our entrees.
The burger was fine, it wasn't anything special, but it did come with barely warm fries that I asked to be re-done because there's nothing I hate more than cold fries. The nasi goreng came out with only 3 prawns. The server did acknowledge that the 4th one is still coming, but it still took more than 10 minutes to come out that we decided to just cancel it. The rice part of the nasi goreng was good and flavorful, but the prawns were definitely overcooked.
Finally, we had the kaya stuffed french toast for dessert and that too had good flavor, although I couldn't really taste the coconut.
3 stars is mostly for the friendly service and good flavor. But a restaurant not having quite a few of their entrees available, and food coming out cold are deal breakers for me. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be coming back to Sandai anytime soon.

Went for brunch 11/16. It definitely isnt your traditional Indonesian meal but the flavor is all there. Its pretty pricey but we actually thought it was worth it as Ive been wanting to try this place for so long.
The gado gado was very nicely flavored with an assortment of seasonal vegetables that I was initially reluctant in but it ended up being very well balanced. The nasi lemak was very nicely balanced as well.
The service was excellent and the waiters were very attentive, and brunch was served very quickly.

I have visited multiple Ding Tai Fung locations and supreme dumplings for their XLB but I kept coming back to Dumpling Hour Walnut Creek for more. This place has the most consistent quality for XLB. There were few staff serving a full house and delivered excellent customer service. They kept up with clearing the table with empty bamboo steamers and dishes while refilling water in our glasses. Ordering was a breeze using the qr code on the table. Food came out fast enough for a very busy evening. Every table was filled around 6 pm Thursday night, including outdoor seatings. I was so sad that the jelly fish appetizer sold out today. Not the first time and won’t be the last. Best to go early before the lunch crowd if I can help it.

My cousin recommended this place so we went here for early dinner (6pm). The restaurant had limited parking spot and lots of take out customers came. The dining area was pretty big with lots of tables. However, there was only 2 ladies serving all the tables & the take out orders, so it took a while to catch their attention for ordering.
- Sichuan spicy crispy beef: delicious! The beef was super crispy yet the meat inside wasn’t tough. It was a tad sweet & very spicy. But we love it!
- Spicy shredded potato: good. Potato was soft yet still had some crunch. Not too salty & good amount of spice.
- Prawn with honey glazed walnut: super good! The prawn pieces were big & cooked perfectly. The honey glazed sauce was good - not too sweet & just enough sauce.
Taste wise, the food was delicious! However, my only complaint was the portion. They were quite small for the price. After the 3 adults finished the meal, we were still a bit hungry. We would come back to try other items when we are in the area.

This is my favorite sushi spot in Walnut Creek. The fish quality is good and I really like the rolls, specifically the golden bear, jalapeño jumper, and dynamite. Walking by on this beautiful winter evening, we decided to drop by with my wife and little baby Mira. Always wanted to stop by and try this place out.
Place was empty with only one table occupied. We got offered a drinks and recommended some rolls to choose from. Browse to the menu and ordered a standard Dragon, Phila and Caterpillar rolls to compare the quality. Got slightly disappointed because my favorite Dragon came falling apart, not tightly rolled. Philly and Caterpillar were just standard, nothing special. Service felt a little pushy and was never there when needed.
Overall recommendation is that there are better “bang for a buck” out there.

We came here on a Saturday afternoon. There were not many people there so we were seated immediately. The server brought us complimentary green tea and a salad. Green tea was very nice and had a roasted after taste and the salad was good.

Let's start with the good. We were seated pretty quickly (we had a reservation). The waitress was nice. Next, this place is more family style. Pretty quiet on a Tuesday.
Given that they serve family style dishes you would think that you get a decent amount of food for the price you pay per plate. We were a party of nine, but be prepared to pay at least $85+ for a family of four; not including any drinks or appetizers. We ordered about eight or nine dishes, but I won't sit here and review every single one since I did not taste them all.
The fried rice was average. You pay $1 extra to add chicken and the give you about 5 or 6 little pieces; all on one side of the plate by the way.
Next, we have the Crispy Honey Chicken. First off, I did not taste any Honey at all. This chicken did have a slight crisp, but it was slathered up in so much sauce that you had to eat fast to enjoy it. The flavor of the sauce reminded me of sweet and sour mixed with orange chicken sauce. It was not bad, but I just failed to get the Honey flavor. It was exactly the same situation with the Crispy Honey Shrimp. If you feel this way about one, I don't recommend you buy the other.
The orange chicken had odd texture, so it did not taste very well with all of that sauce on it. The orange sauce itself tasted like they used all the orange zest that they could possibly find; it was sweet but quite bitter. Not my favorite version; wouldn't even make my top 10. I just think they drown all of their dishes in whatever sauce it comes with. I like a well-dressed dish, but the amount they put on was a bit much even for me.
The warm Saké is definitely an acquired taste for sure. It smells like old beer and soy sauce, but taste like thick, bitter, warm medicine.
Now for the kicker... we went there for a child's birthday and because we had 3 small children with us, we had to pay 20% gratuity. Oh and let me not forget to mention, about 10% tax on the gratuity. As I said before, our server was nice, but she forgot to bring out one of the drinks, all of our food was bought out by other servers and she cane to check on us all of about 3 times. Does that warrant a $53 tip? I think not.
Overall, highly overpriced and not enough food. I don't think this is a place I will be visiting again unless it is chosen by someone for their special day. I will not be going back anytime soon, however, you are more than welcome to give them a try and tell me what you think.

We went to dinner for my wife's birthday and we enjoyed the food very much. The lamb chops were very tasty and well put together with the array of pickled and enhanced greens that came on the side. The rolls were very well donne, the spider roll with the soft shell crab had an excellent crunchy texture and loads of flavor. The spicy salmon rice balls were also a great part of the daily special and if your dining together with friends would recommend getting more than one order. The only thing we could say about those is we wish we ordered more. The atmosphere was good, not super bright lighting and good music. For the service if being honest could have been a little nicer....when asking about a dish and details just saying "it's right there on the menu" is not what we were hoping to get. There was also a very nice gentleman that was a busser and he was incredibly helpful when the main waiter wasn't there. In an effort to tip him with cash we were told one of our bills could not be broken and did not make it to the bank that day. We will be back for the food and maybe next time will be treated a little nicer.

We had a lovely Sunday afternoon date night at Sasa. For ambiance, the restaurant has an upscale, modern vibe with earthy elements. There's a pretty water feature next to the front entrance which you can hear in the side patio. We requested outdoor seating. There is a front patio that butts against the street, and a side patio that's much more secluded and quiet. I noted that all of the couples were seated in the side patio, and a family was seated in the front, which I think helps keep the mood romantic for the couples.
The food was mostly delicious, and had a high class vibe with fun flair. We tried the special soft shell crab bao buns and grilled octopus (with yummy romesco sauce). The soft shell crab was perfectly breaded and the buns were fresh. The scallop crudo and tuna tiradito were both very yummy, but we agreed the scallop needed a little more salt. We also got the sashimi sampler, which had high quality fish but was nothing special, and a spicy tuna hand roll. The spicy tuna came in chunks (not diced) with an intense garlic chili oil and bitter frisse. I think the balance was a bit off, and I would have preferred the traditional diced tuna to better distribute the spicy sauce.

The menu on the website has outdated pricing, but I attached the menu from when I went in Aug 2022.
Many of the restaurants in downtown Walnut Creek, including Vanessa’s, offer great happy hour menus/prices though. I’d recommend this place for happy hour. The Moscow mule was good, had the perfect amount of “kick”. Spring rolls were also good and the bean sauce was also a bit spicy but delicious with or without it.

Took 40 mins for takeout on a Monday night where only 3/4 of the small restaurant was full. Was going on a nice walk in downtown Walnut Creek ready to go to my usual spots for lunch. That is until in the corner of my eye I saw this menu outside and decided to take a look. Never been to this place before but the prices seemed reasonable and the pictures looked good so I walked in.
I got to say, Im glad I gave it a chance! Ordered the bibimbop with the “sizzling bowl” (an extra $2) and really enjoyed it. The meal came with what felt like a dozen appetizers for free and they said all meals come with that. They also refill them for free too. My favorite of these was the cilantro, whatever spices and sauces it had were delicious.
The food itself was great. This sounds oddly specific but it’s got to be one of the most perfectly cooked eggs i’ve seen in my life. Not burnt on the bottom, yet the whites fully cooked. Slightly runny yolk. Breakfast diners don’t even cook eggs this perfectly so I had to point it out.
The provided bottle sauce was slightly spicy so I only had a bit of it. Still tasted great and not overly spicy to where most people can’t tolerate it. Ended up asking for some soy sauce instead which fit my palette better.
After my meal I needed a to go container since I was pretty filled up! That shows me it’s a solid portion size for what you’re paying for. After tax, 20% tip, and everything together, I walked out paying a flat $26 for a single person. I’d say that’s reasonable! Not cheap by any means, but competitive to the restaurants on the same block that go north of $30-35 per person.
Service was great. Was seated instantly but to be fair it was almost empty when I went, close to 3pm when they close before dinner service. Not sure how packed they are at other times but I hope they are because they deserve it!
The staff came by often to check in, refill water, refill the side appetizer thingies, etc. No complaints there.
Atmosphere was nice. Nothing exceptional in terms of decor however I must say it was very very very clean. Funny enough I was sitting in a spot where I could see the rack of cleaning products and it was full of everything you could imagine. They definitely take cleaning seriously and everything was spotless and shiny.
Overall I’m not saying it’s the best place in Walnut Creek or somewhere everyone should go all the time. But if you’re craving something different, something new, and something good, I don’t think you can go wrong here. Do what I did, take a detour, and just try it. You won’t regret it!

We have been going to this place for over 4 years, couple of times each month, so I can say we are regulars. We love the food and service here but after tonight I am contemplating if I ever wanna go there. The waitress Atisa ( I believe that was her name, she’s new) was the rudest waitress I’ve seen. It was 8:15 and everything in Walnut Creek closes at 9pm. I was craving Green Curry. We were hungry and just picked this place because they were open. I've tried many of the Thai places all around the WC area and have yet to find one I really like, until now.
All the food is fresh and very well made. The rice was perfect and flavorful. The ambiance and vibe of the overall restaurant was warm, welcoming, and very clean. It is not casual dining but is casual in style. It was late and the owner took our order. He is a really nice guy.
As for the green curry I wanted so much, the steamy coconutty spicy rich chickeny broth with just a bit of heat was perfect. The only thing I would change is to eliminate the green beans but that's purely my taste. My partner had the PatHed, which he loved.

We used to love the food here, it is really tasty. However, this time I had a most horrible, once-in-a-lifetime experience: a cockroach baked into the naan. Please see photo below. I'm still gagging even as I'm posting this. Their chefs are very competent, but the hygiene is absolutely gross - and that's the management's fault. This was my first time here and I️ didn’t know what to expect. They have a bunch of awards on their door and so I️ knew we had to take a look.
The menu looks delicious and the food did not disappoint. I️ ordered KoJa short rib and braised pork short rib with their signature fries. Everything packed a yummy punch of flavors. If you want to try Korean but don’t want to be taken back by the new flavors then come here!
The only thing I️ would recommend is that you ask your fries to come out fresh. The toppings were hot but the fries underneath seemed a bit cold.

This place was honestly a disappointment. The space didn’t look great — the floors were dirty — and the sushi itself was just off. The sashimi and rolls were oddly oversized, with huge cuts of fish and poor proportions. The rolls even came already drenched in soy sauce, so everything was soggy and falling apart. Went to Burma 2 and tried a few of the vegetarian dishes. The palata bread with curry was super good, and I really enjoyed the peanut leaf salad too, lots of flavor. Restaurant was getting full, can't get seated until entire party has arrived. Parking is horrendous because the main drag was closed due to a fair. Inside Restaurant is nicely decorated (no photos, being mindful of guests) and outside seating was interesting. L shape, had the table close to the street. Closer to the entrance of the restaurant is preferred. Otherwise, you will be the forgotten table...which we were, but in their defense they were slammed. Orders seemed more like for individuals instead of family style (sharing).
