Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Heimat-Tierpark Olderdissen is a free park zoo located in the Teutoburg Forest, offering a delightful day out for families. The enclosures house over 450 animals and birds from various European species, including Alpine marmots, brown bears, beavers, wild boars, lynxes, wild cats, highland cattle, mouflons, bison and chamois. The park's modern husbandry standards provide a comfortable habitat for these creatures.
There are many kinds of animals to see here. The surrounding area is very shady. You can bring your kids to enjoy here all day and don't worry about them getting hungry. There is also a cafe inside.
Mathurin J — Google review
That animal park was awesome, with a playground and a great cafe! I didn't remember to take pics until we were almost out by the bird area.
Alicerita E — Google review
We visited this Tierpark during the Herbstferien. It's nice, free, and beautiful + colorful scenery of fall season, and cute animals. We can see various animals (didn't expect that this free Zoo has a lot of animals). You can park your car with only €2 Tagesticket. Entrance of the zoo is free, but you can make donation to the donation box. There is big outdoor playground as well, and kids enjoyed it so much.
Retno W — Google review
Great for a fun day out with the family. Kids will love exploring the woods and seeing all manner of wildlife in the ample and well-constructed enclosures. Wolves, bears, deer, guinea pigs! What's not to like? Add to that great playgrounds and plenty of parking spaces (at a mere €2 for a full day, Nov 2025), yummy catering services, plus no entry fee to the park itself, and you've got yourself a no-brainer of a day out. Outright recommendation!
Andree L — Google review
Very crowded at weekends. Really good collection of local wildlife. Better visited via weekdays.
Herr M — Google review
One of the most-lovely animal parcs I had ever been! The parking ground is near by and costs only 2€ for whole day parking. The park itself is for free, but cool people drop some coins in the donations when leaving the parc! The parc is big and very very nice and goes directly over to the forest - so you can combine the parc with nice walking/hiking. In the parc there is a restaurant for small snack near by a cool playground for the kids.
Öht — Google review
Very nice place without entering fee, thanks to the city! 🙏 Lots of animals and some nice playgrounds for the children. Also nice for hiking and biking. Good for a drink or some food and a place to find some rest outside the city. If you ever plan to visit Bielefeld, don’t forget this place, it’s worth it (nicer then the centre 😉)

Amazing park. Unbelievable its free. But it also give it a certain vibe. Was a great visit with young kids

Art museum
Museums
Kunsthalle Bielefeld is a cube-shaped modern and contemporary art museum located in Bielefeld, Germany. Designed by renowned American architect Philip Johnson in 1968 and funded by businessman Rudolf August Oetker, the museum houses significant works from the 20th and 21st centuries.
Fantastic architecture. Wonderful spaces for art.
Sandra L — Google review
Good value for the student ticket price, not for the full price. A few nice pieces made by famous artists, but overall a small museum when it comes to the amount of art.
Daphne — Google review
This is the Bielefeld MoMa Museum of Modern Arts. The building itself in very interesting and built about 50 years ago by the American architect Philipp M. Johnson. Just only the architecture is worth to visit the place!
Han D — Google review
All the staff was kind and the exhibition was interesting
Daniela R — Google review
The Kunsthalle is an original Bauhaus building with a good selection of Bauhaus and other artists. Very well organised and has the wonderful spacious nature of the design era. The main exhibition was a bit of a bore but overall a good place to visit. A little pricey as far as the size and selection goes.
On C — Google review
In the tea/coffee corner, somewhat stressed and less flexible staff. Friendly though, and a decent cup of tea.
Hans W — Google review
I enjoyed walking in the art garden, and the exhibitions inside. Friendly people on the desk always cause a good impression. It is rare to listen to simple words like „be welcome“ in Germany when you arrive at a place, and I realized how I like that actually 😊
Tainá G — Google review
Nice collection, lot of Picasso and other 20th century art. Nice building and garden as well.

Specialty Museums
The Dr. Oetker World museum is housed in a revamped custard powder factory and features exhibitions, lecture kitchens, and brand history. The venue is well-maintained with English-speaking staff and instructions in both German and English. Visitors can indulge themselves with delicious pudding while touring the museum. The museum provides an opportunity to experience the brand's legacy firsthand, showcasing its history through various exhibits. It's highly recommended for those interested in exploring the world of Dr.
The girl who made our guided visit was nice and was confident about what she was saying. Great plan to spend the morning, you get gifts to take home and eat plenty of pizza, pudding and other dishes from this brand. If you come here in the morning, you won’t need to eat lunch that day, I came out rolling. Great plan to do with friends or family, highly recommended.
Teo G — Google review
The guided tour was very interesting and extensive, the tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable, and of course, the free food! :D taking one star off, because the tour was moving a bit too fast at times and there was not enough time to take all the written information in.
Marta Š — Google review
Very friendly staff, amazing and fast-paced experience. I would like to visit again. Food is hella mid tho lmao
Артём С — Google review
Very boring museum, nothing interesting for adults, only for kids. However the food is good. We had to book it a lot in advance and waiting was not worth it at all. Save your time, do not go, better buy products in the shop :)
Kateryna K — Google review
One has to book a place by calling there and given a day and time. Groups then are led to hear about founding of firm, products. The next is being led to the kitchens and explained how thoroughly they research products and test both single ingredients and the recipes they offer along with their produce. A testing of certain products is offered as well. Quite good for people with no allergies, some for vegans but very little for glutenfree as yet. Great experience to see how thoroughly they try to serve customers . Very friendly with people and children and patient even with little brats,as experienced.
Marianne T — Google review
My friend and I had a good time here on Saturday. Everyone was so kind, careful about coronavirus precautions as well. There are personnel who can speak in English if you don't know German. All instructions of the exhibition were both in German and English. Pudding was delicious. We have just baked the brownie that we bought from there. Thank you for everything.
Şeyma T — Google review
The booking website says, payment by bank transfer (Überweisung), however, once you complete the booking request you receive an email confirmation and then you actually pay on site. You are then provided with earphones. The guide specifically mentioned NOT to take any photographs without permission of anybody (meaning her). You will view some videos about food preparation, e.g. the pizzas, then you are lead to some rooms with displays and free tear-off recipe cards. You can only view the test kitchen from the outside. After the first hour you can help yourself to some warm custard from the fountain. Free drinks are provided. At the end of the tour free hot pizza is served, including coffee and Dr. Oetker desserts, like little cakes. It is good value for money, however, once you read about Dr Oetker on Wikipedia, you pretty much know everything, especially if you have his cookbooks at home and use the products. A self-guided tour would have been sufficient, but obviously they can't do that because it is an actual office building which is currently in use. The products in the shop are way too overpriced. What annoyed me most was that people queuing up for the pizza did not give a toss about social distancing!! The guide should have stepped in and reminded people to keep a distance of 1,5 metres. I had a guy right behind me invading my space, and another couple just occupied our table even though there were many other free ones available. The show bag contained a magazine, a sachet of rye sourdough, a Gugelhupf (who still eats Gugelhupf, boring!), an empty box with logo
Sibylle T — Google review
We enjoyed our tour of Dr. Oetkers Welt. Well organized tour plan. Friendly guide. Yummy pudding/Musli break. At the end of the tour they serve pizza, cake and pudding. Oh and a bag of Dr. O products. The tour was 10 Euro per Person and must be booked in advance.

Nichtschwimmer is a popular bar and restaurant in Bielefeld known for its large outdoor terrace, making it a go-to spot for casual dining. The restaurant offers a variety of options including pizzas, pasta, meat dishes, and vegan mains. It has become an institution in Bielefeld's gastronomy scene with its attention to detail and changing weekly menu featuring classics, reinterpretations, and exciting vegetarian dishes. Additionally, Nichtschwimmer provides gluten-free options for those with dietary restrictions.
Awesome food, awesome seating ambience, friendly staff. German language menu only.

The potatos french philosophy were very good, a bit too expensive however. You cannot change the distribution of the tables outside, which is not very respectful of customers. I give the good of my evaluation to the people that work there: extremely hardworking, extremely good service compared to all the other bielefeld places, and very respectful of customers. I don't appreciate how the place is managed, but the employees are the real pearl of the place.
Virginia S — Google review
Okay-ish Restaurant with a good location. I had the devils chicken which was supposed to be spicy but even after adding all the extra chilli sauce they provided it was just mildly hot. The drinks look nice though. We sat outside and he lovely weather in this lovely neighbourhood. A little pricey tbh.

Peppers is a vibrant eatery in Bielefeld that offers a variety of delectable dishes such as burgers, ribs, and fajitas. Their extensive cocktail menu adds to the lively atmosphere of the place, which also features a beer garden. The quality of both the food and service is exceptional, earning them a well-deserved 5-star rating. Reservations are recommended, especially on busy nights like Fridays and Saturdays.
One of my favorite places I dined while visiting Bielefeld. The steak was cooked very well, had a great compound butter for it to give more flavor, and the sour cream dip for the fries is phenomenal. The staff was super friendly and helpful

Roberto P — Google review
Best place in Bielefeld by far. The quality of the food and the quality of the service really is 5*. Their cocktails are very good as well. All in all make sure you hit this place when in town. I would recommend making a reservation when going, at least on the more popular days like Friday and Saturday night. Oh, and while your there, get a big daddy burger. :)

Perched on a rooftop near Jahnplatz, THE BERNSTEIN offers a stylish bistro experience with stunning views of Bielefeld. The highlight is the fantastic breakfast buffet featuring smoked salmon, cheese, sausages, scrambled eggs, and pancakes. The terrace provides an ideal setting to enjoy global cuisine and aperitifs while overlooking the city.
Good food and drink options, friendly staff, and the rooftop views are phenomenal. They do have light blankets on site so if you end up getting chilly and didn’t bring a jacket you can warm yourself up

One of the coolest spots to visit in Bielefeld! It has a spacious patio where you can sit back and enjoy a nice view of the town. Their currywurst is among the tastiest we’ve had in Germany. We also tried the Alster and Herforder Pils — both excellent choices. Highly recommended!
Roja G — Google review
Loved my Caesar salad, mango smoothie, and Red Fruit Flash tea, just wish the glass was clean (three lipstick stains on the glass). The terrace had a great view of the city, complimentary Wi-Fi, and can also be enclosed (barrier comes down to prevent rain on the borders) which I thought was really cool, as it did rain today. Service here is a bit slow, but very friendly. Loved my experience here overall.
Jerry F — Google review
I arrived at 11 15 am, took 20 minutes until someone asked for my order - I was only able to order a drink since the kitchen is closed, its now 12 am and still no drink. Decided to leave. Mind you the restaurant was almost completely empty. Not worth the price, even though the view is great.
Aa B — Google review
Highly recommendable! Really! Great view over Bielefeld - roof terrace is ALWAYS crowded. If you're lucky you find a place to sit inside where the sun won't render you blind ;)) - normal variety of dishes, vine menue card is small but well arranged. Music played at times is a sound you need getting used to - but the volume is acceptable. Prices are moderate - you pay a tip (for the view) to a staff which aims to fulfill all your wishes. Takes some time sometimes but you will be served - no worries :D
Anne M — Google review
This place has amazing food. I was already recommended by a teacger I work with that their waffles are to die for, but they have an amazing dinner and lunch section. Their breakfast section is lacking, but that is because I prefer a warm breakfast. I had the McBeth and the waiter was able to put in the customization i needed and I am forever greatful! This place is good to go with a big family, friends, dates. There are not enough options for little kids, so if youre child is not a baby you may want to find another place or settle for toddlers.

The food is REALLY good. Had a very unfortunate experience which was i had to wait for main course more than one hour. Waiter came to apologise after a long wait. So difficult to rate service. Waiter was nice and service good but kitchen service was a disaster. Something happened so do not expect this to be the standard.

We came for the lunch Menu which was 25.90€ for a small 3 course menu. We had a zucchini soup, a choice of either red Thai curry or chicken Frikassee (a German dish) and a pannacotta as a dessert. All dishes were yummy and filling. The service was attentive and friendly! Atmosphere was calm and relaxing. We had a nice table for two at the window. The only thing I didn’t like to much was the slightly too colourful interior design in the middle of the room. All in all great and quite fancy!
