Specialty Museums
House Van Gijn is a unique museum located in Dordrecht, once the home of banker and collector Simon van Gijn. The house has been faithfully restored to its original condition, offering visitors a glimpse into the lavish life of van Gijn during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The museum features furniture, fixtures, and decorations from that period. It was van Gijn's wish for his collections to be publicly accessible, and his home has been converted into this fascinating museum.
A house museum where you can see how the rich Dutch lived in the past. The interiors of the rooms are gorgeous. There is a game for children to find answers and there is also a cafe.

1 hour visit with a lovely cup of tea in a garden, well kept atmosphere, however quite dark even for a sunny day, small shop by the entrance with creative ideas for souvenirs. Veel plezier.

This is a lovely home. We are all fortunate to have this gentleman share his life with the public.

If you like to live through history, this is a wonderful place to visit! There's even an elevator which creates a sense of inclusion. Great experience!
Z A — Google review
Unfortunately, we were a bit late for the museum, but it is still a perfect spot for a peaceful coffee break.
Leyla A — Google review
Huis van Gijn brings you 100 years back in time and gives you a close look to the lavish life of van Gijs. The entrance is free for kids, and I have no idea how much the entrance is for adults, though I used my Rotterdampas for free entry 😁 I wouldn't recommend this place for kids under the age of five because there is nothing interactive for the little once. Main visitors were adults and elderly so running or overactive kids might annoy the visitors. There are interesting unique rooms inside, like the room with gold and leather wallpaper (the one and only in the Netherlands!) The only interactive thing is the opportunity to get dressed as the 1900s 😁 my 10 years old daughter loved it. In the basement, you can find a collection of toys and dolls and an adorable carousel. It doesn't belong to the house of Gijn, though.
Fati M — Google review
Nicely maintained museum. Lots to see and so much of it accessible from close up. After a visit through the home a nice garden to enjoy a lunch, coffee, tea and sweets. There is an elevator to access the museums many levels. Rotterdampas is accepted for free entry (as are many other local museums).
Micheile H — Google review
Lovely 1700-1800's period home with complete rooms and all the owners artifacts plus some more which create an interesting museum for adults and children. Includes a coffee shop in the back. Located in a setting over looking a boat-filled canal. Very charming and well done. Nice booklet guide worth keeping as a momento.

Art museum
The Dordrechts Museum is a fascinating place showcasing a wide range of artworks, from 16th century to contemporary paintings. Visitors can admire the cityscape paintings depicting Dordrecht's historical buildings and landscapes, offering a glimpse into the city's rich heritage. The museum also provides workshops and tours for an immersive experience. It's definitely a must-visit destination for art enthusiasts and history lovers alike.
It’s absolutely worth visiting. It’s not a huge museum but it’s amazing. You can see paintings from 16th to 21st century.
Sara M — Google review
Interesting museum with a good collection of paintings. Nice and friendly staff. For children there is a separate interactive exhibition "Ik zie, Ik zie". It was a lot of fun. We especially liked the room where there was a wall with a fur. When you stroke it, it purrs like a cat.)))
Alla K — Google review
This museum is one of the most underrated ones in the Netherlands. I would compare it to the Frans Hals museum in Haarlem, but way less crowded and with an art collection that’s just as captivating. Dordrecht isn’t known for tourism so you wouldn’t think that they have such a high concentration of amazing museums in such a small area, but what else can you expect from the oldest and most historic city in Holland?
Artemis F — Google review
I really liked the collection on display with some works being really different and breaking up the styles a bit. but a lot of paintings where to high to see well but from far away and even then some still had too much glare. Also was very strange to say ai generated videos on screens in a museum, put another painting there instead of slop.
Thalassophobia — Google review
De Witt exhibition is astonishing. A remarkable moment in Dutch history.
Iulian H — Google review
I recommend the permanent collection. There is a room dedicated to Ary Schepper. There are paintings by Rembrandt and portraits of Max Liebermann and Israels. The collection spans several centuries. The space is contemporary and there is a cafe, a garden and a large auditorium. They also have a youth program called TakePart. It is a paid internship for youth between 16 and 22. The public education program allows people to learn about the special exhibits and also interact with artists. The elevator makes the spaces accessible for those using wheelchairs and walkers, as well as baby carriages. My visits were on a Friday and Saturday. I also took a summer course on those days.
Tamilew329 — Google review
I really how different themes and the effect of different centuries are combined and shown in such an authentic way! You start with classical pieces and then it evolves to modern pieces, you finish it with hands on experience, I drew myself using a photo they provided, it was really fun!
Süheyla K — Google review
A magnificent museum that has curated 6 centuries of Dutch masterpieces. Dordrecht is not exactly a tourist city but it's only 15 minutes by train from Rotterdam, or about an hour from Amsterdam. It's a gorgeous city full of history. It's really worth a visit and this museum certainly is!

Nationaal Park De Biesbosch is a vast nature reserve in the Netherlands, featuring woodlands, river trails for walking and cycling, and opportunities for bird watching. Spanning 8,000 hectares of small rivers and streams, it offers a unique freshwater delta landscape. Visitors can explore willow forests, open fields, and grasslands on foot or by bike while observing geese and other wildlife. Boat rental is available for water exploration.
A national park adjacent to an industrial setting. We rented an electric boat for 3 hrs, which was perfect. Canoes and kayaks are also available. We were there mid day, so not much bird activity aside from crows, ducks, cormorants and a few egrets. From Dordrecht (or Rotterdam), one can take the “water bus”, which uses the OV Chip card. Very handy, lots to see and comfortable.

Nice nature reseverve with stunning views, a great variety of birds. It is a perfect place to cycle around as the cycle paths are of high quality. There is a museum and a place to stop for a break. As there is a lot of water, there is a system of little ferries for cyclists and persons but please check their opening times.

Stunning. Had a completely mad few days of beer, grub & metal, so decided to walk off some of the offending calories in the National Park on the way back to the Ferry. So glad we did, what a stunning place. Absolutely beautiful. Could happily get lost there for a week or ten. :)

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Dordrecht's City Hall, located on Stadhuisplein, is a significant historical landmark dating back to 1383. Originally built by Flemish merchants as a market hall for trading woolen fabrics, the building now stands as an impressive Renaissance structure with neoclassical elements, including grand columns and striking lion statues.
Beautiful city hall to walk around and explore, easy to find parking and restaurants nearby. Dog friendly too!

Did you know that Harry Houdini did his magic tricks in this 14th century building? This building wasn't even a municipality building when it was first built. Flemish merchants sold fabricks here untill mid 15th centry. Today you can have a wonderful wedding planned or other events.

It's a great place if you're looking for culture of Dordrecht. It's a beautiful building from both the outside and the inside. There is also a monument which displays the names of the jews who died in world war II. My only complain is the stairs towards the entrance which has no railing or anything else to grab on to. Some people just need that.

Nestled in the heart of the city, Restaurant Post is a delightful spot that once served as a post office. This vibrant eatery buzzes from morning until late at night, offering an exquisite selection of Mediterranean dishes, including mouthwatering tapas. Its inviting atmosphere caters to both locals and visitors alike, making it a perfect gathering place for friends and family.
If you want to try some DELICIOUS and BEAUTIFUL shots or cocktails we can absolutely recommend you this place! TALENTED AND VERY NICE BARTENDER OTT FROM ESTONIA WILL DO IT FOR YOU PERFECTLY! You will be shock what he can do. 👌🏻 Pizza pollo was without taste but dough was very good and crispy. Irish coffee was strong and tasty. Staff was very friendly. Very nice place to go on date.
Izabela W — Google review
Food was okay, had the small pizza but came out the same size as the big one! The service was very attentive, a little slow because it was quite packed. We really enjoyed the overall experience.
Kayla D — Google review
The restaurant is located almost in the center. There is a parking lot nearby. The interior of the place is beautiful, there is a lot of space. There are also tables outside. The food looks very tasty. But we ordered a Burger and pizza. It was impossible to eat pizza because it was very spicy. The burger was undercooked , the cutlet in the middle was red and raw .
Tina T — Google review
We were advised to book a table in advance. This is a French style restaurant with chef dishes and not suitable for regular family dinners. The menu was quite limited. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff, however the food was brought by a youngster wearing a big sweatshirt which was not very appetizing.
Turid B — Google review
What a great spot! The staff members care so much and were so thorough when it came to food allergies. They even made a special list of things that were safe for me to eat with my rare allergy, and then made an accommodated dish that was safe to eat. Lovely, cozy atmosphere, good food, amazing staff members who are super kind. Thank you so much for a lovely evening :)
Aria — Google review
Doesn't live up to its hype. The food was pretty good. They have a lot of beers but it's a strange selection and they don't have a comprehensive beer menu. Moreover, the staff we had knew nothing about the beers. Our teenage waitress didn't know IPA is a style -- she thought it was a beer name (which I'll admit was cute). Otherwise, it was okay. Nice atmosphere. Clean. Spacious.

Restaurant
If you find yourself in the charming city of Dordrecht, a visit to De Stroper is an absolute must. Nestled alongside the historic canal near the Wijnbrug, this delightful restaurant has been serving up delectable fish dishes since its inception in 1987. The name "De Stroper" pays homage to its founder, Carel Jooren, who was known for his eel fishing adventures in the nearby Biesbosch.
Well, this was a very nice discovery indeed. We were very lucky they had an available table for two, because the place was packed and we didn’t have a reservation. The surprise menu was awesome, all 6 courses of it. Especially the hot courses were incredibly tasteful. Every single paired wine was very well chosen and of great taste and quality. Service was very good, kind and impeccable. The cheese plate was a worthy last course with a great wine choice too. Would definitely go again if I am in the neighbourhood again!
Jan V — Google review
This is our second time to this restaurant. I can say that we had again an absolute delightful and exceptional experience here. Everything was perfect, dishes, atmosphere and the stuff. We had a 5 course menu. The fish dishes were outstanding. We had so many sorts of fish such as seabas, haring and halibut. We finished with a refreshing desert. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff added to the overall enjoyment. I highly recommend this place for delicious, well-prepared fish dishes.
Mihaela V — Google review
As a person regularly goes to Michelin’s and fine dining restaurants, I can say - The Stroper is the best food I ate for last year. Extraordinarily mix of tastes. I want to leak every plate after every meal. Bravo!
Alena M — Google review
A truly excellent fish and seafood restaurant, elegant and comfortable, with an outstanding and friendly staff. The daily menu is a great deal, the cured salmon appetizer, followed by a delicately pan-fried haddock, left nothing to be desired. The mussels in a saffron infused broth were splendid in their sweet plumpness and the bouillabaisse here puts most Marseille versions to shame. Finishing with an intense chocolate sorbet, with hazelnut cream and rare sea buckthorn compote made for a perfect finale. Excellent coffee. An exceptional dining experience.
Hansjakob W — Google review
Really great gourmet food. You won't regret if you like seafood. I was positively surprised (!) And prices are very reasonable for the type of food being served. If I have time, I'll certainly pass by again. The only thing that could be improved is the ambient temperature, which could be a bit warmer inside during winter time.
Sérgio C — Google review
I have been a regular client for well over 20 years and honestly can't remember the number of times I have had lunch or dinner here. Each time it never disappoints. The food not only looks stunning but tastes absolutely scrumptious. A true gem in the heart of beautiful Dordrecht.

Really perfect - do not miss! We ate a very very good lunch here and can recommend it really! Try the house wine!
Fred G — Google review
Almost by accident I ended up at this restaurant, to enjoy their lunch formula. The restaurant decor was elegant with proper spacing between tables. Staff was friendly, attentive yet discrete. The smoked fish was of excellent quality, the fish soup very well prepared and the “tuna roast beef” a surprising explosion of flavors. Good bread with - on theme - salted butter. Absolute value for money and the restaurant itself a hidden gem.

Bistro
Bistro Twee33 is a highly recommended spot for a culinary experience in Dordrecht, especially for those who appreciate fine dining and wine. This bistro boasts its own wine bar and specializes in French cuisine, offering dishes like forel aux amandes and steak tartare. Located in the historic center of Dordrecht on Wijnstraat, it's an ideal place to enjoy French-style dining or have a relaxing evening with good wine.
🥰🤩🌟 Certainly a fall 🍂🍁 Night to remember😊. Super Friendly accomodating staff. After a warm friendly welcome at the door, we were escorted to our table and we were kindly helped at the door upon leaving with the our coats. We went for the 4 course menu, choice left to the host&chef. Each round was a pleasant suprise. They made sure to take note of our diet preferences and each served meal was well laid out with an explanation. Certainly revisiting again😌😊.

Nothing but positive things to say about this place. But what outshone even the food, which is impressive cause the food is so yum, was the service we received from the staff, particularly our waiter. We had a dog with us who had gotten wet in the rain on our way to the restaurant. He offered us some towels to dry the poor baby and was so attentive to all of us, even the fur baby. We were all smiles and left with the best impression. Thank you Bistro Twee33!
Holiday K — Google review
I had a pretty good experience but I have some feedback: -please bring bread to every table, I think it was only included with the chefs menu, not with a la carte -steak tartare at the table is an interesting concept, but the execution was lacking. The waiter kept asking what to add and what not to add, which makes the experience weirdly stressful. I think it should be prepared with amounts the chef would want it :) - no bread with the steak tartare is also very weird

Incredibly friendly hosts, speedy service, great wine selection from all over the world. Food was delicious, with great care to the details. Honestly one of the best meals I've had in a long time. And all of this in a stylish and cosy interior (loved the copper lamps and old tiles). I am coming back, no doubt about that.

Great value for quality dining, very good service and generous portions of delicious food with a lot of thought to flavour, textures and presentation. Interesting and varied wine list. Will be revisiting.

Very lovely evening here. We had a fairly big group of 9 people and all of the dishes were excellent and beautifully plated. The main dish is just the right size that you can have room for an appetizer or dessert.
Natalie C — Google review
Ridiculous restaurant. The entree is enough for one bite, the main looks like the size of a normal entree. Would be fine if it had been a high end restaurant but this is a Bistro. Also they serve you one portion of fries for 2 people if you order a main, the catch is that it's the size of a portion for one person and is ridiculous they won't serve this as a side for every main. The tuna main, was supposed to come with an avocado tartelette. It was in fact a tartelette filled with mayonnaise and couple of peas. It was also supposed to come with a herb velouté. It was an oil soup, and those poor tuna pieces were floating in it. The herb cream as promised was also a green mayonnaise. Would be more appropriate to dub this option as mayonnaise with a hint of tuna on its bed of oil.

Lunch restaurant
Coffeelicious is a charming spot located in the heart of Dordrecht, offering a cozy and inviting atmosphere with its cheerful floral wallpaper, wooden crates, and beautifully crafted pastries displayed on the bar. It's not just about coffee or tea here; they also serve up fresh scones, panini with chicken and brie, pancakes with fresh fruit, and more. If you're lucky enough to snag a seat by the window overlooking the canal, you're in for a treat.
Delicious cakes and cookies, I always love coming here! The coffee is amazing and the staff is really kind as well! And they have the Dubai chocolate bars 🍫 I recommend ordering the white chocolate raspberry cake 🍰

We sat at their outdoor tables and had an iced matcha and a long black coffee. I didn’t really like the matcha, it was just so-so. The coffee seemed a bit pricey. The interior decor looks nice. Every time I pass by this place, there’s a queue for cookies inside, they really look delicious 😋 One day, I’ll come back to try a cookie too.
İrem A — Google review
Coffee, cookies and panini were very good (loved the raspberry cookie and the chilli jam was very nice). I found the pancakes a bit thick and dry but still nice as well. Overall the place was cute and the service very friendly. It was also busy when I went so it was very loud.

Went for the cookies and they did not disappoint :) very tasty - nice and big soft cookies. My friend and I had a variety of them, and they also do mini versions of their classics. Sat inside drinking coffee which was also good

Almost perfect! Its decoration is my favorite! We had a table with a view to the canal, and i personally think its one of the cutest thing to do. Anesthetic to the max! The menu is not that big, bit has a lot of options Food was OK. Not outstanding, Sadly OK, because when i come to such a nice place like this one, im really hoping that the food matches the place. but still, if you have 30-60 min to stop by and grab a bite, do so. Its a great place to be . Dont expect too much in service. I dont knoe if it was because was early morning on a Monday and a bit busy but we did not get much of it. We had to walk to the counter twice to ask for more coffee and a cake.

Absolutely delicious food and drinks. We sat outside in the sun and loved the avocado dishes. Very delicious and reminded us of our home in Australia where we haven’t been able to go back for so long! Our two girls aged 5&7 loved the food as well. In the heart of Dordrecht, I discovered a charming café where I enjoyed a perfectly brewed coffee and a delicious slice of carrot cake. The cozy atmosphere made me want to linger, and the service was exceptionally friendly and attentive. A true little gem in the city center. You got the 5⭐

The café offers dishes of good quality, though the preparation process is rather slow. The coffee, however, had a noticeably sour profile that may not appeal to all palates. While the service was attentive, greater coordination among the staff would significantly enhance the overall dining experience.

Wine bar
BRUT Food & Wine Bar is a cozy spot located in the old and historic center of Dordrecht, offering a peaceful city garden at the back. It's the perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine from both the new and old world. The bar also serves freshly cut hams, homemade bitterballen, and even homemade burgers or steaks for those looking for a heartier meal. While some visitors found it slightly lacking in ambiance, others enjoyed the warm and reasonably atmospheric setting.
What an incredible experience. BRUT is easily one of the best spots in Dordrecht. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The setting is beautiful, especially the hidden garden terrace which feels like a peaceful escape right in the middle of the city. We visited on a themed Spanish night, and it was absolutely unforgettable. Live music filled the space with energy, creating a vibrant and joyful vibe. You could feel the passion and effort that went into organising the evening. Everything from the music to the menu felt carefully curated. The food was excellent. Fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. You can tell the kitchen puts care into both quality and creativity. The staff were also outstanding. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about what they do. It is rare to find a place that gets food, service, atmosphere, and personality right all at once. BRUT does exactly that. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great night out, whether you’re a local or visiting Dordrecht. We will definitely be back!!!!
Harry S — Google review
We recently dined at this establishment as a group of nine, and unfortunately, the experience fell short of our expectations. After reading several positive reviews, we anticipated much more, but only one person in our group was truly satisfied with their meal. Our table ordered a variety of dishes, including burgers, steak, and a selection of shared plates. While the food was decent, nothing stood out as particularly memorable, especially given the higher price point. The quality didn’t quite justify the cost. One detail that further detracted from the experience was the issue with the iced tea. We specifically requested Lipton Iced Tea, but what we received didn’t taste like it, and we later noticed staff using a different brand. While a small detail, it left us questioning the transparency of the service. Overall, the experience was underwhelming, with average food and a few service inconsistencies. For the price and the reviews, we expected more.

Hippy restaurant with wooden seats, service is very friendly, food freshly made with love. Just you have to wait to long for your order. About an hour 🕛 but you can take some starters and than is waiting time not a problem. Toilets available. Located on an pedestrian zone, no parking around.

Excellent everything! You can find snacks anywhere in the netherlands but most are frozen premade snacks but here you can clearly tell the snacks were homemade and were very delicious. The only thing that could’ve been improved was the Nachos but still good. Best bitterballen I ate in the Netherlands by far. Cozy backyard, nice staff, delicious and fun cocktails. Service was quite fast and prices were very reasonable for the quality and atmosphere. I’d definitely come back and wish I had this bar in my hometown. Highly recommended!

This place is so cozy. They have a covered, heated area out back with couches and low tables. Great place to stay for a while. They serve a selection of very nice wines for reasonable prices. The food is really, really good too. It was hard to leave that couch, man. I'll definitely come here again next time I'm in Dordrecht.

Wondering were to eat in the centre of beautiful Dordrecht, we decided to ask some locals. This was the best decision, because we were redirected to the "best burgers in the city" as it was presented. We were welcomed by friendly staff in the crowded stylish place. After a cold beer the tempting burgers came and the result was amazing! I now believe that this are the best burgers in town.

Cute family business, the new terrace is lit I love it , music is always on point though..and the food is delicious.. the drink are reather to expensive and I don't really like how they try to push u to keep drinking the whole time but simply deny the offers and enjoy the food and sfare.
