The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre is a captivating destination for aviation enthusiasts and families alike. This museum showcases an impressive array of historic bushplanes, water bombers, and commercial aircraft within its expansive hangar. Visitors can immerse themselves in the world of aviation by exploring the interiors of these fascinating planes or climbing to the top of a forest ranger tower to engage in playful firefighting scenarios. The centre also features three flight simulator theatres that promise an unforgettable experience for aspiring pilots.
We visited Canada for the first time yesterday and stopped at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre. Very nice and informative museum. Alot of Canadian aviation history in one hanger. Many planes to look at from small float planes to larger fire bombing aircraft. Everyone was very friendly. The facility was nice and clean and as a bonus, it had an entomology lab inside that had an array of of insects from small to large, along with several small reptiles. The lady that showed us some of the critters(I'm sorry I forgot her name) was extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. If you make it to Sault Ste Marie, Ontario Canada. I would highly recommend checking it out👍👍😊

Great collection of aircraft! I loved that you can actually board most of them and take a look inside. It makes for an immersive experience to be able to wander around the inside of the hull and take a stroll through history. I do recommend that the employees are coached a little better as there was 0 enthusiasm from the employees. We wandered into the insect exhibit and the young women inside wouldn't even make eye contact with us. I tried to smile at them but they looked away. A warmer reception from the employees would have made the experience truly memorable.
Carlin S — Google review
Came here to show my partner around the sault and its offerings. It wasn’t overly busy, it was us and a bunch of kids having a birthday party (with their parents socializing). It was nice to have the place (mostly) to ourselves but the kids were loud and running around mostly unsupervised (not the bush planes fault). There are some great interactive displays that you could scan with your phone and sift through hard board book like information. There’s quite a few planes to look at and even some that will let you get inside and take a closer look! We enjoyed the water bomber video experience personally. They have a little gift shop at the end with a few nicknacks. We also enjoyed the Entomica exhibit with the cool insects and bug displays, which can be found inside the museum. Overall a decent experience. I’d been once before. A cool place to check out if you’re into museums and haven’t ever been!
Vikki P — Google review
Great museum! We enjoyed our experience here. My husband was my tour guide, but there is a tour guide that you can download that is filled with info also. The store was great, too. Highly recommend when visiting Sault Ste Marie.
Stacey — Google review
A lively museum. The insectarium is cool, and the museum itself is jam packed with aircraft you can touch. They’re all super clean and just beautiful to look at. Definitely recommended.
Daniel T — Google review
I attended a wedding here a couple of weeks ago, and the venue was amazing. 10/10 would recommend. The planes were so cool and I really enjoyed the insectarium. P.s: thank you to the childcare staff for watching over the kids so the parents could relax a bit. You guys were awesome.
Jillian C — Google review
We got the tour and it was excellent. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. There are also very interesting movies. And there are so many engines to look at!
K S — Google review
Museum itself is fine, plenty of information and such to be had next to all the exhibits. My one gripe is the political "elbows up" and "canada not for sale" merchandise available in the gift shop. A Museum is a place of learning, not a place of opinion politics. Do better. Whoever made this decision should be ashamed.

The Art Gallery of Algoma, established in 1975, is a non-profit public art gallery located next to the scenic St. Mary's River. It features permanent and changing exhibits, educational programming, and a variety of facilities including exhibition spaces, an education studio, a cafe, and a gallery shop. The gallery houses a collection of Group of Seven paintings that were inspired by the rugged landscape and Great Lakes shores of the Algoma District.
This time of year, when they have Bon Soo, that's when they have their members exhibition showing. It's the best one all year round. With so many great artists in the city, it makes it so well-rounded of an art show. Worth seeing hands down. Beginning of February to the end of March.

The lovely ladies working here let me in even though it was closed! They were working on a new display but I got to see some really nice pieces.
Anastasia F — Google review
Nice small gallery and gift store. Fine displays of a mix of painting and sculpture styles including native Canadian art. Vibrant colors. Gift store full of cool jewelry, textiles, books, souvenirs, and paintings. Students and Seniors get admission for$5. General admission $7.
Allison B — Google review
Small collection but a very good one in a beautiful gallery on the water.. The First Nation artists' works were so alive and very moving, outstanding.
Cathy M — Google review
What a great show hung in the gallery this time around!! Always love visiting this place if not for the public showings then just to browse the gift shop. Always worth a visit.
Kim N — Google review
Pretty small gallery, 7$ entry seemed pretty steep compared to other galleries I've been to. Not mad, just surprised for what you get. Gift shop is really good considering location and size. Very well priced and extensive options for gifts. People were nice, and they even have a small place to get coffee, etc.

Phenomenal selection of artwork! Great abstract pieces. Very friendly staff and very affordable admission. 10/10.

Ermatinger Clergue National Historic Site, also known as "The Old Stone House," is a captivating historic attraction featuring two 19th-century stone homes and an interpretive center. The site offers a journey back to the 1800s, providing insights into the lives of prominent local figures such as Mr. Charles Oakes Ermatinger and Mr. Clergue.
Very informative and great little museum! The combination of the history, the gardens, and the buildings was fun to walk through and investigate.

Rich in history and fun. The museum guide/curator is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Must see place when In the Soo. The movie was entertaining and very educational.

Exciting experience. First time out of America. Was very cool that my elderly mother could experience going inside as well, as she uses a wheelchair for longer distances, and she didn't just have to look at pictures.
Maureen T — Google review
The stone houses are very cool and the museum has some really informative exhibits and artifacts. There are things for all ages and learning levels.
Troy S — Google review

Very informative about the building of this area and the important people that were part of Sault Ste Marie
Kerry K — Google review
Loved seeing the inside of the house. The story of the house was interesting as well. There was a bridal party there taking pictures so that was a bit awkward.
Kathryn W — Google review
My visit to the Ermatinger Clergue National Historic Site left me with conflicting emotions. On one hand, the staff at the museum were incredibly welcoming and kind-hearted, making our experience enjoyable in that aspect. However, as a young adult university student, I found that the museum's content didn't quite resonate with our age group. It became evident that the site's primary focus was geared towards children, leaving us feeling somewhat disconnected from the exhibits and narratives presented. While this may be suitable for families with young children, it didn't quite align with the expectations of our group. Furthermore, I couldn't shake the feeling that the site portrayed a somewhat colonialist perspective. There seemed to be a lack of acknowledgment regarding the colonialistic impact of Ermatinger on the indigenous community. Terms such as "trading with indigenous people" were used, which, in my opinion, glossed over the harsh realities of colonization and exploitation. I believe there's room for improvement in providing a more balanced and inclusive portrayal of history, one that doesn't shy away from acknowledging the darker aspects of colonialism and its impact on indigenous communities. While the site has its merits, it falls short in addressing these important issues adequately.

Sault Ste. Marie Canal National Historic Site is a remarkable destination that showcases the ingenuity of 19th-century engineering. Established in 1895, this historic canal was once the world's longest lock and the first to utilize electricity, serving as a crucial passage for vessels navigating between Lake Superior and Lake Huron while avoiding the treacherous St. Marys Rapids. Visitors can explore its fascinating history through guided tours, stroll along scenic trails, or rent bikes to enjoy the picturesque surroundings.
Totally enjoyable afternoon- with such a beautiful park that brings so much history. There is a grassy area to relax and it offers picnic tables. We walked over the bridge and enjoyed the trails. Then went to the end of the road to see the emergency swing bridge. So glad we stopped in for a quick afternoon walk. Definitely planning more time next time.

We took the Famous boat tours boat 🚢 with the adventure pass. It was a beautiful day with friendly staff. Super informative. What a beautiful lady she is. You could tell she loves her job and she was funny. Nice fresh breath of air. They offered snacks and drinks. Got to learn about the locks, the soo, and the Canadian side of the locks. On our way back there was a boat bobbing in the water. They have a no one gets left behind code and without hesitation went to see if they were in need of help. Everything was okay but turns out the boat was not starting. They immediately dispatched help. Wonderful group of people ❤️

Visiting this historic canal was an unforgettable experience. The combination of natural beauty and rich history makes it a true Canadian treasure. Walking along the canal, you really get a sense of its importance in shaping the country’s past, while also enjoying stunning views and peaceful surroundings. The pathways are well maintained, perfect for walking or biking, and there are plenty of spots to stop, take in the scenery, and learn about its heritage. It’s both relaxing and educational—a must-visit for anyone who loves history, culture, and the outdoors.

A beautiful blend of history, nature, and engineering! The Sault Ste. Marie Canal National Historic Site is a wonderful place to explore and learn. The walking trails are peaceful, the views of the water are stunning, and the locks themselves are fascinating to watch in action. The visitor center has plenty of interesting exhibits that explain the rich history of the canal, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. It’s a perfect spot to spend a relaxing afternoon — whether you’re interested in ships, history, or just looking for scenic views. A must-visit if you’re in the area!

Great to see a lock.. unfortunately a boat didn't pass by while I was present. The pathway lead to Whitefish Island.. nice nature hike where people feed birds and chipmunks.. suggest to stick around the perimeter to avoid getting lost 😆

Really well done historic site. Presently doing some work on site but still lots to see. Great place for walking and cycling. Got to see the locks in operation which was cool.

Such a great museum with very informative and creative displays! They also have a very cute gift shop for local souvenirs. Both Hannah and Ric were awesome.

Attended the museum for a special music night, it had a lot of interesting exhibits and lovely performers. My favourite part was the gift shop, it had free art kits and neat vintage buttons. I wish there was more signage to help direct the flow of people. Overall I enjoyed my visit at the museum!

Well preserved local museum with large historic displays. Excellent informative collection on first nation people and history Very friendly staff.
AXZ — Google review
It was a bit off putting trying to buy tickets with two employees laughing and cackling so loud in another office that we could not hear a word the person taking our money was saying. No idea what they were watching that was making them laugh so loudly. Too bad they weren't spending their time correcting all the spelling errors throughout the museum. Shocked to find errors in critical dates. The museum has a large amount of interesting items and photos. Too bad the management does not proof read before displaying. Still, it is worth a visit. Hopefully this review will help improve details.

It offers a scenic stretch for cyclists, walkers, and joggers to enjoy. The park hosts various events, concerts, and festivals with facilities like dressing rooms and a kitchen available for use. I always love coming here, it’s a great place to have different kinds of activities. It is surrounded by a beautiful view and great places to take memorable photos. I recommend visiting this place. You could just take a walk around to enjoy the superb views.

Cool little park we went on a Saturday and it was a ghost town. We only found like 4 shops open. I don't recommend touristing on the weekend to Canada.
Jeremy T — Google review
This is a public market/arena and there is plenty of parking. Excellent for watching the St.Mary River and the US border. There is restroom here which is very clean. We went on a Saturday and there were a few farmers selling their produce. Very nice quite place to walk around and enjoy the scenic views.
Vimal V — Google review
I love all the activities they have here. It is accessible as well, which is a nice bonus. They have two bathrooms, one at the front one at the back. They serve food when an event is going on. The clean-up is quick and efficient after an event. I love the stage and live music the most. It is a hub of activity and a staple in our community. It even had its own facebook page with upcoming events. It has screens they can pull down to keep the sun out, and it is accessed by many different openings. The parking can be a bit hectic as there is not much of it but the station mall is right next to it and you can park there and walk over. Overall a very fun palce to be.

The Roberta Bondar Park and Tent Pavilion in Sault Ste. Marie is a great waterfront gathering spot with a mix of open green space and event activity. It’s right by the St. Marys River, offering beautiful views and easy access to the boardwalk. The pavilion hosts concerts, markets, and festivals during the summer, giving it a fun community vibe. When there’s no event, it’s still a nice place for a walk or a quiet break near the water. Parking is nearby, and the area feels clean and well-kept.

this park is a lively waterfront spot that often hosts community events, concerts, and festivals in Sault Ste. Marie. When it’s quiet, it’s still a nice place for a walk or to sit by the river and watch boats pass through. There’s good parking nearby, clean public washrooms, and easy access to the Hub Trail. The pavilion area is spacious and well-kept, making it great for gatherings.

We didn't actually seek out this park but it was along the boardwalk in Sault Saint Marie, Ontario. The whole walk along the rivers/locks/lakes was very pleasant. We were in our 26' motor home and found plenty of easy parking on the back side of the mall, right next to the scenic boardwalk. After a long stroll, we drove across the international bridge into Michigan where we took a boat cruise through the SSM locks. Very interesting!

Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie, located at 30 Bay St., offers a variety of entertainment options for visitors. With 450 slot machines and 21 table games, guests can try their luck in a lively atmosphere. The casino is known for its friendly security and floor staff who are always ready to assist patrons. Additionally, the on-site restaurant provides delicious dining options, such as the exceptional Caesar salad and coconut shrimp.
**Shoutout to Wendy at Guest Services** Traveling with my wife, we decided to check out the casino. Being from out of town, it was so nice that Wendy at the front desk greeted us with a huge smile, and offered help, even some jokes and small talk. She was able to set us up with some membership(points) cards, and gave us all the info we'd need to enjoy our visit. Did some gaming - Plenty of machines to choose from. We grabbed a menu from the bar, as we had missed the restaurant timing. The food was soo good and very fairly priced. Service and Smiles in this Casino are bountiful! If we're ever passing through again, we'll be sure to stop in!

Enjoyed our visit. We actually stopped in as a last minute activity for Memorial Weekend and had fun. Easy access from the bridge. Free parking. Friendly staff. Bar and seating area with TVs. Beverages - fountain drinks as well as bar. Clean restrooms.
Rita L — Google review
No jackpots spent $1109 highest payout was $135. Hardly any bonuses on all games, this casino is on its way out. You never hear excited cheers, laughter like other casinos, the atmosphere is boring. Nothing to bring you in. Across the boarder is better. Even with the exchange rate you still have a better chance of winning then at Gateway Casino. Stay away.
Darrell B — Google review
Interesting casino, believe it's main structure is a Coverall structure. It seems to work for them and maybe cost cutting measure. They have a good selection of slot machines and some table games, as such limited game selection but they have blackjack. Staff were friendly and the casino offers self serve pop and coffee. If going there I suggest bringing cash with you as ATM fees are pricey.

Me and my mom had dinner there the other night. It was so delicious. The steak was so nice and tender and the potatoes and gravey were good as well. I didnt care for the choice of vegetable, which was mixed. but everything was hot. The soup was awesome as well. It had lots of vegetables in it and very tasty. Th cherry pie wasn't that great and I love cherry pie usually. I have posted pics. Overall the meal was really good and a very reasonable price of 24.99 each I think.

One of the better Urban parks I've ever visited 👍 It is large & quite clean. (Except for bird poop) 😅 The park is well maintained. There is parking there is washrooms. Tons of space to move around. Great view of the bridge to the US. Tons of birds to watch.🪿🦆 Lots of places to sit and enjoy the waterfront.

What a wonderful park that's centrally located near downtown. There are several different parking lots, a splash pad, several kid playgrounds including toddler section, bathrooms, lots of benches, and picnic tables. Several small accessible trails that go down by the water, through the gardens and playgrounds. Great place to bring your dog for a walk and to let your kids run around.

Splash pad and good playground equipment for kids. Clean maintained washrooms. Lots and lots of picnic tables and benches all over the park. Beautiful greenhouse on site you can visit. Lots of staff maintain the park wonderfully, grass is well trimmed and not a lot of garbage all over the place. The sailing club and Topsail island are accessible from the same parking lot. Topsail island is a great place for a walk to view the water. Bellevue also connect to the Pine St Marina by a really nice walking trail.

The museum provides an opportunity to handle insects with care, making it an unforgettable adventure for insect enthusiasts. With its dedication to insect life and engaging displays, Entomica Insectarium comes highly recommended as a must-see attraction when visiting the area.
The dedication and love for insect life coupled with the interactive displays and the heart-stopping chance to hold the insects turned this attraction into an unforgettable adventure! Shout out to Chris and his dream team working to educate the world about the critters they love the most. The insectarium was my favorite stop on a cross-canada tour!

Went to the bush plane museum since we were stuck in town for the day but this was by far the better attraction. Spent over an hour talking to Chess (not sure if spelled correctly) about random bugs I never knew existed. She would just casually grab them and show us them like a pro - a very patient pro I should add. Couldn’t believe her knowledge. Would highly recommend checking this place out, definitely something anyone would enjoy.

What a fun experience!!! Checking out the airplanes was great, but I was so excited to see what the Insectarium had to offer. I was not disappointed!!! The staff were so friendly and informative, and all the critters were amazing and beautiful.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had such a wonderful experience at the Entomica Insectarium! A special thank you to Todd, who truly made our visit memorable. He welcomed us with so much kindness and took the time to explain everything about the insects in such a detailed and engaging way. His passion and knowledge really shone through, and he answered all our questions with patience and love. What made the visit even more special was that Todd let us safely hold some amazing insects—we never thought we would get such a hands-on experience! It was fascinating, fun, and educational all at the same time. Thank you, Todd, for making our day so enjoyable. Highly recommend visiting this place if you’re in Sault Ste. Marie—you won’t regret it!

The Entomica Insectarium was definitely one of the highlights of our recent trip to Sault Ste. Marie. Special shout out to Lucas who was phenomenal and really made us feel welcome the moment we walked in. He was super knowledgeable and engaging, and took the time to show us so many of the amazing creatures that reside in the insectarium. One of the most interactive experiences we've had (thanks again Lucas!) and completely worth the visit! Will definitely be back next time we're at SSM.

Discovered this little gem inside the Bush Plane Museum. What a treat! The staff member, Alex, was fantastic! She explained all the different insects and let us hold some of them. Really enjoyed it!

My wife and I were vacationing in Canada for a few days and decided to visit this museum on a whim. This turned out to be the highlight of our vacation! It was incredible! One of the people there went between all the visiting groups essentially giving guided personal tours. He then allowed us to hold a bunch of them in our hands! It was incredible!

I had a wonderful experience at Entomica Insectarium! Todd was amazing — he shared so much knowledge about insects in such an engaging and easy-to-understand way. His passion for entomology really shows, and he made the visit both educational and fun. I walked away with a whole new appreciation for insects thanks to him. Highly recommend visiting and learning from Todd!

The Museum Ship Valley Camp offers a unique experience to explore the life of a Great Lakes freighter in the early 20th century. The ship features over 100 exhibits, including an Edmund Fitzgerald Memorial with original lifeboats. Visitors can also explore crew quarters and view aquariums with large tanks. The preserved ship now serves as a museum and aquarium, offering an educational experience for all ages. With its rich history and extensive exhibits, the Valley Camp provides insight into maritime life on the Great Lakes.
The museum is packed with historical displays, and the ship itself is also very impressive and was a great opportunity to tour it. We were very limited on time, and wished we could have stayed longer. If you really want to see all there is to see on the ship, you probably need to plan to be there for around 3 hours. It looked like there was a guided tour option too as we saw a large group with a tour guide. We had a great time rushing around the ship trying to see as much of it as we could in the time we had!! I would go back another time.
Larissa G — Google review
cool experience, wish you could explore more of the ship. as someone with curiosity about so many things would love to see more of the engine room. also would be nice if there was guides to answer questions etc. all in all a cool experience though lot s of great artifacts, such as the edmund fitzgerald life boats.
Jacob M — Google review
What’s not to like about a museum in a ship. It’s loaded with displays, and historical artifacts, including life boats from the Edmond Fitzgerald. You can walk top side and see all the crew quarters and the helm. The Valley Camp’s length is 550 feet. Some freighters are 1000 ft today. Check out the very bottom to see the floor that warped from all the tons of cargo it carried. The museum has a lot of information about Great Lakes ships.
Rebel C — Google review
This was a fun visit for the whole family and it had ramps to most places for folks who can't do stairs. Loaded with history of shipping and the coast guard around the great lakes while at the same time touring an actual barge!
Sheila Y — Google review
I was in awe to be able to walk through an entire ship on all three levels. There is a large collection of maritime artifacts! My favorite was a lifeboat from the Edmund Fitzgerald. It gives you an eerie and somber feeling to not only touch the boat, but to see the metal of the lifeboat torn from the rough storm that claimed the ship and crew. The top deck is a bit scary if you are afraid of heights, but it is worth braving. The crew quarters are located up there and it was very interesting to see how and where a crewmen lives while aboard the ship.
Michelle A — Google review
We got the adventure pass which is the tour of the ship, the tower, and boat tour. Let me tell you. You need to carve out a day to do this. I am from port huron and we live in iron mountain area. We have never been to the Su so it was both our first time. Growing up on the lake you would see the Ore boats and wonder what it was like to be inside. This gave us the opportunity to see. It took about 2 hours to explore fully and the great thing is if you want to you could go as many times as you wanted that day as it is a day pass into the ship. Not only do you get to see artifacts, paintings, and the ship in person but you get to explore on your own terms and pace. Every room and space is utilized with exhibits and staff was friendly. Everyone was respectful in not touching anything. Some areas have leaks so puddles can be seen. They repaired the very top so it is slippery when walking on but it was worth it. To be that high up and to see the captains quarters. The entire experience was really cool. At times it was a little hard to breathe for me because I have asthma but let me tell you it was worth it. Wonderful experience.

Was a fun time walking through the valley. Lots of cool stuff to read and look at. We also did the history tower. Price for both was pretty cheap and worth it.

The River of History Museum is an essential stop for those fascinated by the St. Marys River's history. It offers a chronological journey from the river's formation to the 20th century, providing insights into early life in Sault Ste. Marie. Despite its small size, it is packed with informative exhibits and even offers an audio tour option. Visitors can explore artifacts such as agates, rocks, and native copper at the museum store.
I recently visited the River of History Museum at 531 Ashmun in St, Sault Ste. Marie, MI. The museum is a very nice place with an entire history of the area. A audio tour is also available. The walk of the museum has its founding and its impact with business and logging, military and how it all changed over the years. There is a small charge but I thought was well.qorrh it.

It's been a long time since I've been to a museum with so much exhibit and reading. The information was well presented and the exhibits are nicely done with the walking stick telling the stories with good voices but my kids were disappointed with the lack of exhibits designed to experience the history. Some things were touchable and they enjoyed those items, especially the boats. I would not recommend it for kids under second grade but it's good for kids finishing third here in Michigan because it goes along with the history they learned about the state this year. Forget bringing toddlers or preschoolers.

The Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours have been a beloved attraction for many years, offering a unique and entertaining experience. During the 90-minute tour, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the Soo Locks and the St. Marys River waterfront. It's recommended to bring a jacket for cooler temperatures and sunscreen for sun protection if sitting on the top deck during mid-summer tours.
Our group had a great tour. Going through the small Canadian locks and the US locks was a unique experience. We got to see 2 1000 foot freighters.
Rebel C — Google review
We really enjoyed our tour through the locks during Engineers Day. There is seating inside on the lower level or outside on the upper level. It was raining during most of our tour but we still enjoyed the trip. The tour lasted just over an hour and a half which sounds long but really isn't. There are bathrooms downstairs and a snack bar with drinks available. We went through the MacArthur Lock on the way upstream and came back through the Canadian Lock. The hosts are very knowledgeable and provided a lot of information during the tour. The only downside is that with the rain the seats get wet and the stairs can be slippery. That's no fault of the tour company though!

The Famous Soo Locks Boat Tour is an unforgettable experience! Cruising through the locks and watching the water levels rise and fall up close is simply fascinating. The live commentary on board was informative and engaging — we learned so much about the history, engineering, and significance of the locks while enjoying the beautiful views along the way. The reception area is quite spacious, with a convenient ticket window and a fairly big gift shop where you can pick up some nice souvenirs. The boat was comfortable, the staff was friendly, and everything was smooth and well-organized. Perfect for families, history lovers, or anyone looking for a unique experience in Sault Ste. Marie. Highly recommended!

I am a Canadian who came over to take the fireworks cruise on July 1st. I was looking for something different to do instead of the traditional sitting in a crowd on a lawn chair. I really enjoyed myself. I plan on returning for another cruise. I would like to suggest you have the gift shop open on firework cruise nights I was wanting a souvenir but the store was closed for the day.

We did the Haunted riverboat cruise for the second time and we loved it!! So full of history and information! This second time was a Halloween costume party, so it added some extra fun to the whole experience. My boyfriend has lived in the Soo for most of his life and even he learned things about the area he never knew - and the fact they were spooky things makes it even better.

Absolutely loved this tour! Despite the rainy day the staff were all super friendly and helpful and the rain did not take anything away from the experience. We learned so much about the history of the locks, the surrounding buildings and the steel mill which we got to see pretty up close. We even saw some really cool freighters! It was well worth the money and will definitely be one of the our more memorable experiences here.

Very interesting tour with good commentary up and down the river and through the locks. We went through both the Canadian and American locks. Staff were friendly and accommodating. They apologized for the delay coming through the locks on the American side as we had to wait for a ship to clear the lock we were going into.

We LOVED the boat ride through the locks. Having been on several boat tours, I am thrilled to say the Miss Marie Sault Lock Tour was one of the best boat rides we have ever taken. 1) The details told throughout the entire tour were very insightful. 2) The crew was friendly and informative. 3) The seating was very comfortable and not crowded.

A great experience crossing the locks. Excellent explanations and very clear audio even on the water (not a given!). Great trivia and facts about the locks and the area. The guide was knowledgeable, not just reciting text. It rained and the tour ran just fine.

I honestly can't even express how impressed I was with the tour. I brought my little cousin on the tour, it was her first time ever on a boat, which was exciting on is own. 😀 The staff was amazing, great representatives of our beautiful city. Very engaging with passengers. Even the Captain would come down while we were in the locks and engage with guests. The most amazing part was when Captain Rob had a team member come get us and brought us up to let my cousin drive the boat. Talk about an experience that little girl will never forget ❤️ she was so excited when I brought her back to her mother. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Captain Rob and every team member who made this an amazing trip for my little cousin, "Captain Heleena"💙

Beautiful boardwalk trail by the Sault Ste Marie waterfront. Interesting statues and art installations with nice parks to stroll through, great place to walk the dog. Don't wear your good shoes, there are lots of geese on the trail, they had goslings with them and were very territorial.

Not from the area but met some lovely locals during our stroll. Appreciated the bikes having their separate space so not constantly looking over my shoulder. Lovely little gardens, nice views, some big chairs to relax on and dog friendly. Lots of geese so kept the dogs on alert. Easy to find parking.

Because I lived just down the road from the boardwalk it was almost a daily visit during the summer months. the smell of the fresh air flowing off over the water in between two countries, doesn't get much better than this. Even just the sight seeing, from the old ship's tied to the decks to the older buildings across the river, it is such a beautiful area and I miss being so near yet my homestead now is most uplifting and beautiful in one of the newest suburb additions here in Sault Ste Marie.

Nice boardwalk but a walk to nowhere. Unfortunately there is only the blank back side of a a dying mall and with giant parking lot facing the boardwalk. The city needs to redevelop the mall to pedestrian friendly shops and restaurants facing the waterfront, and this will become a lively and fun destination. Mall parking says that parking is for mall patrons only but ironically the lot was almost empty and there was little access to the mall from that side.

Kinsmen Park, located in Sault Ste Marie, is a picturesque destination offering scenic walking paths, hiking trails, and beautiful waterfalls. The park's lush greenery and sparkling waters make it an ideal spot for nature lovers. In addition to its natural beauty, the park features well-maintained biking paths suitable for cyclists of all levels. Visitors can enjoy the stunning fall foliage or explore the area's diverse flora while walking along the trails.
Must see spot in the fall. Plenty of parking around the park. Bathrooms are rustic, good for emergency. No stores around, no water source. Trails are marked well.

We decided to add Crystal Falls as one of the stops on our way back to Toronto from Agawa. Crystal Falls is within Kinsmen Park. We were there before the opening hour which was 9 am but we were still able to access the falls. There is parking area. The falls is just 2 munutes walk from there. We appreciated the steel bridge instead of walking directly on soil & tree roots. The falls had akple water which cascaded down to make a stream unlike the Bridal Veil Falls & Beaver Falls at Agawa Canyon which were almost in drought. We had decent pictures taken without being breathless.
Maria L — Google review
The waterfall is very cool and has a steel walkway to view it from 2 different platforms. The park and small lake are quiet with a few picnic tables and a small playground. The entrance road was awful with large deep potholes.

Great little spot. No entrace fee. We went on the weekend and it seemed pretty busy. I'd go earlier in the day if possible. Everyone was friendly and gave right away to the many bike riders on the trails that day. Swings and a teeter-tottering were available not far from the parking lot. Washrooms and garbage facilities were available. Also connects to the Hiawatha Highland trails up the road. Beautiful spot for photos.
Stacey W — Google review
The falls are beautiful. There is a boardwalk for easy access to 3 different viewing platforms. You also have the option to climb further up to a bridge connecting to the voyager trail. There is a large assortment of hiking and cycling trails as well as nordic ski trails and snowshoeing trails in the winter months with occasional signage to help you chart your course and not get lost. There is a nice assortment of flora in the area making for picturesque walking. There is a pond held up by a damage with another smaller beaver pond separated by a walking trail There are several playgrounds for the kids including swings, slides and teeter-totters.
Lance B — Google review
Beautiful place with lots of trails to choose. A small kid playground by the lake too. A short walk to Crystal Fall which is very pleasant. Looks like a popular place for locals. We didn't take the longer trail, only took a short walk up the fall and that section was well marked. Driveway to the parking has some big holes and signage wasn't clear that there is a parking lot further down. Reason for 1 star reduction.
Ninh D — Google review
Awesome fall to visit but need to care in while driving down as it's too slippery for cars and too steep plus road is way to narrow. Do visit this place in fall nature at its best plus the way to reach this waterfall is magnificent and feels like paradise if you get chance do visit it

Visitors can enjoy the tranquility of the early morning or experience the beauty of launching Chinese lanterns over the water at this serene and secluded spot.
We took our boat out this evening and decided to try our hand launching it here. The launch is in poor shape and there's no dock. The water was quite chilly... All-in-all, it was a great night though. It was around 8pm when we launched and just before 11 when we loaded up and left... Experience the impressive Great Lakes-St Lawrence Seaway system, connecting Lake Superior to the Atlantic Ocean. Witness a 21-foot drop between Lake Huron and Superior and see landmarks like Algoma Steel and the International Bridge during this two-hour tour. The narrated journey takes you through the locks, guided by retired freighter captains who ensure a safe and informative experience.
A Must-Do in Sault Ste. Marie! The Original Soo Locks Tour was an absolutely wonderful experience! The entire ride was so relaxing and peaceful the perfect way to enjoy the beauty and history of the area. The narration throughout the tour was incredibly informative and engaging, making the journey not only scenic but educational as well. We had the chance to go through the larger American locks on the way out and then returned through the smaller Canadian lock, which was such a unique and fascinating contrast. It really gave us a full appreciation for the engineering and importance of the Soo Locks system. Every staff member we encountered was warm, welcoming, and exceptionally friendly. You could tell they truly love what they do and want every guest to have a great time. At the end of the tour, we stopped by the charming little gift shop by the dock. such a cute spot to pick up a souvenir! Absolutely worth every penny. I would do it again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

We enjoyed this tour. It wasn't too long (2 hrs) and it was very informative and reasonably priced. Our vessel traveled upstream and rose 21' to the level of Lake Superior through the MacArthur lock, and then lowered 21' to the level of Lake Huron on the return trip. The tour is about the locks, the engineering and the vessels you see on the way. Very cool. The boat was in good shape and the crew were all courteous and informative. I recommend this tour if you have any maritime curiosity at all.

If I could give this boat tour more than 5-stars, I would. (Even my teenager had fun on this tour, and said it out loud!!) The crew were not only clearly familiar with the locks, steel plant, and history, but were quite funny as well. We didn’t get to ride WITH a freighter through the locks, but we got to be right next door to a 1000-footer. It was SO COOL to experience such an integral part of the Great Lakes industrial world, as we come from a state over with lots of our own maritime history. Thank you for making this such a memorable time for our family!!

Narration was great and we learned a lot about this history of the locks and surrounding area/industry. Got to see taconite pellets being offloaded from a cargo ship on the Canadian side. The lock transitions were awesome. Highly recommended!

Exploring the Soo Locks was great! We had a sunny day and got to see a freighter go through the locks, along with going through it ourselves. It’s very interesting how this locks work, and that it’s all gravity fed, no pumps are used. Very knowledgeable tour guides too. So much information on how the locks came to be, and how much water is used to fill them! The visitor center has a lot of information about the locks, and the guides there have a lot of information. The viewing platform was a great place to watch the freighter come through. We took the Original Soo Locks Tour and it was great. I highly recommend doing this if you are visiting the area.
Debbie B — Google review
We enjoyed every minute of the tour. The sites were amazing and we learned so much about the history, building and mechanics of the locks. We appreciated the captain taking extra time to take in certain aspects of the tour ~ like the freighters etc. Actually going through the locks was incredible!! Thank you!!

The tour was fantastic! The entire staff was very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. They went out of their way to make the tour unique experience.

This was my first experience in Michigan and I loved the Soo Locks Boat Tour So much to learn about how the locks work. I can't wait to tell my friends in Missouri how much fun this trip was and show them the great pictures I got while I was here. Thank you for your wonderful tour and hospitality you showed us.

Gros Cap Bluffs, located west towards the coast of Lake Superior, is a popular spot for watching sunsets and enjoying picturesque views. Visitors can watch boats pass by and take in the sight of waves rolling in from the shoreline or venture up to the bluffs via winding trails for an even more breathtaking view. The area offers maintained pathways along with access to a beach, making it perfect for dipping toes into Lake Superior.
This place is beautiful & unique. The beach is Rocky so bring some water shoes if you're going in. The water was refreshing. It was rather crowded also parking may be an issue. There was a fair amount of garbage on the trails & the Cliffside.
Jarrett B — Google review
Nice scenery, cute little beach. If you want to swim please keep in mind that there are giant rocks in the water, wear water shoes, and have fun
Kitti T — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous, had a nice time just sitting on the shore reading my book and looking at all the various rocks. There’s a few parking spots at the end of the cul-de-sac, including a handicap accessible spot - though the shore itself isn’t very wheelchair friendly due to the rocks.
Arly W — Google review
Lots of nice hiking but be aware of private property. Rugged beautiful shoreline can be rough for some. Private beaches if you’re willing to climb some rocks.
Stewart — Google review
Great trails, great rock climbing & top notch scenic over lake superior! Usually not to busy. Hidden beaches, caves and watch for dogsquatch! She needs french fries & pizza!
Thomas S — Google review
Lovely place. So long as you stay to the right when you park, it is not private access. There are homes to the left, but there is a beach and some pathways maintained by the parks (someone was there on our visit from the conservation). Fun to dip my toes in Lake Superior and pretty views.
Sheena — Google review
Just gorgeous! Easy to get to, easy to park, immediate views, and a nice trail to take if you like.

A beautiful place the see the sunset. However the trail is a bit challenging if you're not fit.

A very nice park in downtown Sault Ste. Marie. Many cute little geese babies.

An absolute lovely place to walk with a friend or your dog. Beautiful river view and sunsets and you might even catch a passing freighter.

The work crews haven't started creating the rink at Clergue Park. It is a much appreciated outdoor skating rink.

Visit for Rotaryfest. Lots to do here during the festivities. Great view of the river. The park is well kept and groomed nicely. Great park to walk around and enjoy the views. Nice smooth walking paths. Just an overall great park within the city.

Andrea M — Google review
A great place to gather. Nice views of the water, skating in the winter and festivals during the summer.
Jennifer H — Google review
It's well lit and enjoyable with lots of space and the boardwalk. The nearby library and art gallery offer great options when you are looking for a break. The little Cafe in the art gallery is quite nice. Its central and easily accessible with lots of free two hour parking near by and feels quite safe even at night. The wild life tends to leave "presents" often however and you have to be careful with small children near the geese. Great place.

The Old Stone House, part of the Ermatinger Clergue National Historic Site, is a must-visit destination in Northern Ontario. It includes the interactive Heritage Discovery Centre and the Clergue Blockhouse. Inside the house, visitors can explore rooms left as they were in the late 1800s and experience the cool basement on hot summer days. The site showcases heritage and vintage items from that era, offering an engaging historical experience for families.
Had a family dinner 🍽 in the old stone house. The 2 ladies that greeted us were fantastic people. They were both well knowledgeable about the past of the house. The food was fantastic and fresh. It was locally grown vegetables and the desert was cooked in the wood fireplace. I cannot say enough how pleasant they made the experience. I highly recommend for everyone to at least try it once. Thank you for the amazing time.

It's a cool, historic house to see, inside it is left as it would be from the late 1800's. Can see the rooms, and go to the basement to see what it was like. Very cool down there, nice on a hot summer's day. On display are heritage and vintage items that belonged to that era.

I haven't been here In a few years. A friend of ours booked one of the party rooms here for my girlfriends birthday party last night. There was a lot of people here both swimming and on the rink. A good time was had by all.

I would like to give a big thank you to Kevin Smith at the John Rhodes Community Center pool. He was extremely kind and helpful when I approached him with an issue, even though it wasn't part of his usual responsibilities. Kevin went out of his way to assist me and made a real effort to find a solution. His professionalism and willingness to help truly made a difference. Excellent service!

Took my son skating today. The prices are great ($3 for kids $4 for adults $7 skate sharpening)... what I was most appreciative of was how friendly and helpful the rink staff are!!! This was my first time on skates since I was a kid, and my son's second time ever... and the rink staff were more than helpful in teaching us both how to skate!

Incredible facility and staff. As head coach of the local competitive swimming team, the processes they have put in place in light of the pandemic have ensured the safety of all my athletes, and I appreciate those efforts very much. Thank you so much!
Sarah M — Google review
Used to go here occasionally as a kid. I brought my daughter today, the pool and change rooms are dirty and poorly maintained. Kids water equipment barely works the way it used to, small pool was over filled and half the sprinklers were complete drowned down. Water pressure was poor, mushrooms are discoloured/faded and need to be descaled. The worst part? The universal change room was absolutely disgusting. I was scared to let anything to touch the floor, let alone my small child. Every corner had THICK gray gunky build up, around every stall base, just disgusting. I was appalled at whoever is mopping in there, and it is not being done with any care. It needs a DEEP clean!! Overall… rundown, outdated, dirty, unkept swimming area. 2 stars because the lifeguard was kind, the instructor in the other pool seemed nice. Receptionist was also kind.
Saryna M — Google review
It's been many years since I last stepped in to this place. I was a kid then, and it's changed a lot since then. It does have a very good sized pool, and children's pool area. It's great for families. I noticed during the day it does not seem too busy, which is good if your a parent who doesn't like it too crowded. They offer lots of children float devices and play area, and have life guards patrolling. Good sized family changing rooms, and shower area. Clean, and affordable.
