Religious destination
Sefa-Utaki, located in Nanjo, Japan, is a lush and sacred site believed to be where the goddess Amamikyu appeared. It is considered the most important tourist destination in the Ryukyu Islands and features six sanctuaries within its grounds. This place holds great historical and cultural significance as it was used for ceremonies during the Ryukyu era. Visitors can expect a serene atmosphere with some walking involved, including stairs and slippery slopes.
Excellent, tranquil natural setting. One can quickly see, experience why this setting became the sacret grounds for the Ryukyu Kingdom.

This is the sacred place for the locals but you can also feel the energy of the respectable nature. It is wise to prepare your mind before entering the place. Don't just look for nice spots for photography. I recommend you to try to open your senses to be receptive of the voice of the silence.
Ekkaparb C — Google review
Sefa Utaki is a breathtakingly beautiful and historically significant site in Okinawa! The scenic views of the surrounding landscape and Pacific Ocean are stunning. As a sacred site, it's steeped in Ryukyu Kingdom history and spirituality. The place is so quiet that one can truly reflect and pray as you walk along the area. It is a must-visit for nature lovers, history enthusiasts, and those seeking a glimpse into Okinawa's rich cultural heritage. 🌳⛰️✨
Harby N — Google review
A beautiful and sacred place with a very peaceful atmosphere. The path through nature feels truly special, but the area is smaller than expected and a bit touristy. Still, definitely worth a visit for the spiritual energy and history.

A world heritage sacred site where u can see ancient rocks with different posture. The site is small and u would be able to cover within 20 mins.
Jon P — Google review
It is said that Kudaka Island is worshipped as a sacred island of the gods. I was planning to visit Kudaka Island by ferry on the day, but due to cancellations caused by the typhoon, I first came here to pay my respects. As this is an extremely sacred place, I strongly feel that all visitors should show the utmost respect when coming here.
Genichi H — Google review
The actual site is good. A bit steep in places, but the walk from the entrance is not long. You may need insect repellant as we were bitten by mosquitoes. However, the parking lot is not easy to find. Also, the ticket machine is quite far from the entrance and can only be paid in cash. It is a longish walk from the parking lots to the entrance.

A unesco site; the highest sacred site of the ryukyu kingdom an easy hike up The chinen kudeken mountains; with no stairs mostly flat stone steps with talls trees and big rocks surrounding the place. It’s quiet and very peaceful and we loved the view at the end of the hike. This place is believed that gods descend i to this forest; A very nice place to get away from the busy city life

Valleys
Valley of Gangala is an enjoyable and enlightening nature reserve offering guided tours through lush surroundings, including natural caves, trees, and landscapes. The trails are easy to navigate without excessive exertion. Visitors receive a complimentary thermos of tea and an English guidebook. The knowledgeable tour guides provide informative commentary about the area's history, prehistoric culture in Okinawa, and the land.
Beautiful place with rich history. We went with my whole family and my mom who is in her mid 70s with a hip replacement was able to walk with the tour group. 山下san was funny and made sure my mom was not left behind. Everyone took lots of photos so that’s my measure of how we enjoyed our time there!
Rickey I — Google review
Must make reservation beforehand. Website didn't work at first but came back online in the evening. Only reservation, pay when you get there. No English speaking guide but they give you pages to read and the guide tells you which sections throughout the tour. Went at 4pm, bit dark as it's a valley. Would recommend an earlier time. They give you tea in a metal bottle and also mosquito repellant to apply. Promptly starts at allocated time slot, which is every twenty minutes. Cafe at start with unlimited juices for 500 yen a mug.
Cole P — Google review
We enjoyed the guided tour very much! A 1hr15mins slow walk, the tour guide tried her very best to make it entertaining yet informative!! Very impressed with the history of the cave and how Okinawa protected these heritage sites so much ! Worth visiting and you will get energy from the nature ❤️
Carol L — Google review
Beautiful tour through the valley. The tour is taken by fully Japanese guide but has English notes if you don't understand Japanese. Tour takes about 90 minutes. Great way to spend an afternoon and view some of the most interesting formations. Beautiful greenery as well. We went on the day and some time slots were taken up so if you go early you might be lucky to get your chosen time and no wait. Right next to Okinawa World so you can head in there after or before.
Lex X — Google review
Even though you can understand Japanese, you can still enjoy this journey with the lively body language of the guide and the textual guide provided at the venue. Here, you can see the traces of Kogawa's past life, stalactites formed by corals, and many magnificent and grand trees. I highly recommend this trip.
NI — Google review
If you're interested in taking a walk through the amazing nature while learning something new about the history of the human race in Okinawa, this attraction is for you. It does have a couple of drawbacks though. You have to book entry, either online or by phone. The tour is with only a guide and he guides in Japanese, but don't despair as tourists you will get an outline of what the guide says in English. It is nice that the guide personally greets all visitors by name at the beginning of the tour. Afterwards, there is a beautiful walk with remnants of the ancient history of the place, including extraordinary natural phenomena. It is very nice, again I recommend a visit for sure.
Michal B — Google review
Beautiful, and tour provided cards in English so that we were able to follow along. Very interesting cultural experience. Most of tour was in collapsed cave system (valley) so it was hot. Lots of mosquitoes. Still worth the visit
Aida Z — Google review
I went here just for the one amazing tree but the entire tour was great! So much more than I was expecting. I only speak a tiny bit of Japanese but they gave us a handout in English with an approximation of what the guide was saying. And she was so animated & kind. I feel we may have missed a joke or two but still enjoyed every moment of the tour. It is recommended to make a reservation ahead of time.

Theme park
Okinawa World is a unique theme park that offers a comprehensive experience of Okinawa's nature, history, and culture. Visitors can explore a replica castle townscape, stroll through a tropical fruit orchard with over 450 fruit trees, and witness the vibrant eisa dance performances during special festivities. The highlight of the park is the massive natural cave called Gyokusendo, known for its stunning formations and well-designed lighting.
Had a great time here with the family. Great place for everyone of all ages to have fun. The layout makes the park more enjoyable and easy to navigate. Just watch your head as you walk through the cave. The in person shows were really entertaining as well.
Michael W — Google review
Really nice experience with beautiful sights, animations and shops. Really makes you understand the local life and history ! The traditional music show is highly recommended, so is the cave of course. Takes maybe three hours to tour it all.
Burabetsu — Google review
Visited Okinawa World with my family and had a wonderful time. The highlight was Gyokusendo Cave, beautifully lit and easy to walk through. We also explored the traditional Okinawan village, watched the lively Eisa drum performances (my son loved them!), and visited the Habu Museum, which was both fun and educational. The Fruit Orchard was very interesting, and we all enjoyed the fresh fruit juices from the cafes. The whole place is well maintained and very family-friendly. Tip: You can comfortably explore everything in about 2–2.5 hours. Wear comfortable shoes and check the schedule for Eisa performances to catch the show.
Ayush S — Google review
The caves were definitely a highlight and worth seeing on their own. Unfortunately it felt as though once you leave the cave, you are guided through a series of shops which didn't feel very exciting after spending the money to get into the park. There are some live drumming and snake shows available but we didn't wait to watch them. We were also dissapointed with the condition of the "museum" which had many crowded and small enclosures for various reptiles and amphibians. The small cages with the turtles climbing on top of each other made us feel a bit sad. We might have had a better experience at the rest of the park if we had brought children, but for us the caves felt like the only organic attraction in the park.
Ryan H — Google review
Amazing cultural theme park about Okinawa. Entrance fee is only 200yen. There are many parts to the park. You start by visiting a natural cave. Then you see the tropical plants and fruits. There is a counter where you can buy different fresh juices and snacks. There are many workshops you can try for a small fee. You can make tea, weave, paint, blow glass, dyeing,… You can even retrieve your own pearl from a shell and they will make a ring or necklace with it! There also explain how they make habushu (snake alcohol). You also get to see some live animals there. Very informative and interesting park.
Evelyne N — Google review
The caves are great, easy to walk through and interesting information along the way. Watched the shows, tasted the beer and explored the reptile room. There are alot of interactive activities for all, and the bonus plus was the icecream which was sorely needed after walking around in the sun. It was as a good day
Frances — Google review
Lovely experience that shows the true heart and culture of the Okinawan people (before major Japanese influence). The caves are a must see. The habu exhibit is a must see, even if all you learn is what the "nope rope" looks like. You'll see why you'll want to know that as well. Let's just say habu are manifestations of gangrenous aggressive hate with practical Goju-Ryu experience. Despite this, they hold importance to the history of Okinawan mythos. I wonder what the whiskey tastes like? I don't drink, so I'll never know. The Eisa show will move you to your soul while the food warms it. Photography is not allowed during the show. Please respect this. When I can, I will go again. Support the culture as best you can. The glassware and pottery are gorgeous and you can even craft your own.
David Y — Google review
Great place! It’s a funny combination of different things that collectively make up the Okinawan culture, flora and fauna. I especially enjoyed the dance show. It wasn’t very crow even on a Saturday, I dont know why.

Cape Chinen Park is a stunning oceanfront recreational area with breathtaking views of the water and nearby islands. This picturesque location boasts a wide range of amenities, including souvenir shops, food vendors, and ample parking spaces. Visitors can enjoy picnics on the lush green grass while soaking up the panoramic scenery. The park offers numerous vantage points to capture beautiful photographs, especially during sunrise or sunset.
What a beautiful little park with an amazing view! There are several spots to take photos that are Instagram worthy. You can walk along the path to some stairs that will take you all the way down to a road leading to a boat docking area and small beach spot. We took our dog and she got in some good exercise. There are bathrooms and vending machines as well as some food trucks and ice cream available.
Brandy R — Google review
We happen to stop by here and parked to see the view. It is so beautiful in addition to the nice breeze that is cooler way cooler compared to that parking space. We saw people that are going down there but it was hot so we stayed up here where it is a lot cooler! Must check!!
Sake S — Google review
Cape Chinen is a truly breathtaking place to watch the sunrise in Okinawa. Perched on a scenic overlook facing the Pacific Ocean, it offers an unobstructed view of the horizon where the first light of day paints the sky in soft pastels before igniting into brilliant gold. The vantage point looks out toward Kudaka Island, adding a touch of quiet majesty to the scene as the sun climbs over the water. What makes this spot so special is the serenity. In the early morning, there are no crowds, only the sound of the wind and the rhythmic crash of waves below. As the light shifts, the ocean glimmers in shades of turquoise and blue, and the surrounding greenery takes on a warm, golden glow. It’s a peaceful place to reflect, to breathe deeply, and to simply be present in the moment. For photographers, Cape Chinen is a dream location with endless compositions as the light changes by the minute. For anyone else, it’s a chance to start the day in complete tranquility. If you’re visiting Okinawa, catching a sunrise here isn’t just recommended—it’s unforgettable.

Great spot to see the sunset I was lucky to be there when it was the perfect time for sunset plus not too cloudy. You need a car to get there. I won’t forget the scene that I saw a good view when the sun was going down. I strongly recommend this place for relaxing moment.

Tamagusukujo Castle Ruins is a must-visit spot in Nanjo, Okinawa. The ruins offer spectacular views and a glimpse into the history of the Ryushu kingdom. Visitors can explore the remaining walls and experience the jungle that has grown within them. The hike to the castle ruins provides an adventurous experience, with hidden trails leading to caves and a giant bird cage tree.
These castle ruins are associated with the Indy Jones hiking Loop, which is fantastic! You get to experience jungle, caves, rock scrambling, castle ruins, and a gorgeous view. Free!

Nothing much to see except for a heart shape hole in the castle wall. But great view of the bay area from the top The wooden stairs is not maintained and started to rot.

Great views. Nice stop for a stroll after going to Costco. Not much here other than good views and some crumbling walls.

Okok sight ! Not much of a view though. Gotta be careful climbing up the stairs , otherwise , pretty ok place to see see .

This place was amazing with spectacular views! Came here on March 17, 2018 late afternoon also found the hidden trail in the back area of the Juvenile home. Followed all the way to the end and met more nice views, caves and a giant bird cage tree. The trail was fun and a bit challenging towards the end. Luckily they were ropes to hold on to in case you lose your balance.
Bar2 — Google review
It was small but has a beautiful view. Some of the steps were broken so you need to be careful.
Keri C — Google review
It was confusing to see the start point of the hike. So we went to the stairs immediately and from there it's kind of tricky. We just enjoyed the view from there. Be careful and don't be too loud as this is a sacred place for the local.

Japanese regional restaurant
Soba noodle shop
Okinawa Soba & Cafe Yagiya is a charming spot housed in an old-fashioned building with a lovely garden. The menu features local-style soba and other traditional specialties, including Okinawa Ramen made with asa (seaweed) and pork slices. The broth is lighter than typical ramen, and the noodles are fiber-rich. While the restaurant may be a bit challenging to find, it's definitely worth the visit for its quality limited menu and excellent side dishes.
Lovely space at a heritage Okinawa house. They sell delicious soba (served with either pork belly or ribs) and desserts. Being a traditional noodle place, you have to sit on the floor. Service was very prompt despite a line was forming. Staff were also very polite. Highly recommend!
Susan K — Google review
Very small restaurant and exclusive as it's located away from main roads in the farming area. Near Okinawa World and sells limited soba pork Belly variety. Soup broth is light and comfort good food for us. Seated on floor which is difficult for some and elderly.
Sabrina T — Google review
An old Okinawan house, registered as a Tangible Cultural Property, is used as a store. Although the location can only be reached by car, many tourists line up even on weekdays. The interior of the restaurant is just like an Okinawan house, with tables set up in a tatami room. I had a bowl of Okinawa soba (buckwheat noodles) topped with arthur (Okinawan green laver), yushi-tofu (Okinawan tofu), and soki (stewed pork ribs). The soup stock from the aça and bonito was delicious, and the raw soba noodles had a texture that I had never tasted before. The atmosphere of the restaurant, including that of an old Okinawan house, is enjoyable.

Can’t leave Okinawa without trying some local soba. Tried this Okinawa Ramen from Yagiya, it had asa (seaweed) and pork slices on top. The broth tasted lighter than the usual ramen I’ve had before and the noodles as well was made with asa. They said this ramen is rich in fibre. Asa Soba set ¥1030 We got lost a little find the restaurant but it was worth visiting

Stopped by here after visiting Okinawa world in the morning on the way to the peace museum. Limited menu but options are all quality. Side dishes are really good as well. Also pineapple juice was excellent. Out of the way place but well worth the trip to sample some traditional fare in a quaint, pleasant atmosphere.

Restaurant
Be Natural is a wonderful eatery with an exquisite decor that showcases attention to detail. The multi-course meal offers delectable dishes, such as the outstanding tuna sashimi and creatively prepared pork. The pasta, served with skin-on tomato sugo, is especially satisfying. Each course is beautifully presented on unique plates accompanied by charming cutlery styles. The attentive chefs take the time to describe every dish with great care. Surprisingly, the bill reflects reasonable pricing for such quality and exceptional service.
Everything about this farm to table restaurant was absolutely perfect. From the gorgeous decor with raw concrete and floor to ceiling windows to the light shades made of dried flowers to the beautiful dish ware to the food itself. Highly recommend reservations for this place as it gets busy but you get 90 minutes to eat and enjoy a set meal and it is simply wonderful. I left feeling full, relaxed, and completely satisfied. They also sell jams, honey, and other treats as well as their server ware, vases, etc. Truly a magical place!

Michelin star restaurant without the price of it. Raw honest food delivered by the sweetest people you meet. Fix menu that rotates every month based on local garden ingredients.

Came here during the rain and entered the restaurant through the FRONT door, then waiter asked whether we have a reservation, we said we didn’t have one, then she let us walk through the whole restaurant to another door which was originally the front door despite being at the back of the building. Then the manager came and said our shoes were wet and we left some wet prints on the floor, then he let us wait again. We decided to leave, because this is a very weird treatment of a customer

This was such a great restaurant- it is beautifully decorated with thoughtful details. Our meal of several courses was beautiful- our tuna sashimi was amazing- I don’t usually like pork but I loved the way this pork was treated- the pasta really hit the spot with sugo made from sweet tomatoes with the skin left on (I loved this touch). Each meal was served on a unique plate with a different style of cutlery that was really lovely and the chefs came and described each meal with such care. The bill was surprisingly reasonable- you will pay much more for this quality and service elsewhere.

Italian restaurant
El Patio is a vibrant and lively spot where you can witness the art of pizza tossing while enjoying a delightful Spanish omelette. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, with chill music adding to the relaxed vibe. It's a great place to savor delicious food without breaking the bank.
Great Tapas, and pretty good Neapolitan- style pizza too. Also an all-you-can-drink (in 90 minutes) option and optional set menus. It's a pretty small place but wasn't too busy. Seating is available at the bar if no tables are open. Wife and I had garden salad, diavolo pizza, Spanish omelette (Tortilla de papas), and Gambas al ajillo. Everything was delicious and price was good considering the quality. Some menu items offer a choice of large or small serving. Update: went to this place again. They were unexpectedly closed on a Tuesday evening, so we went on Thursday. Had the shrimp ajillo and fried shrimp again, and also had the 5-piece Tapas sampler (chef's choice), bruschetta with spicy chilies and vegetables, and roast pork with mashed potatoes, white wine and herb sauce. Everything as great. In our 7 nights in Naha, this was the best restaurant by far. Order anything on the menu, you can't go wrong.

All the dishes were delicious. The pizza, ham, and pasta here were tasty(๑´ڡ`๑) I couldn’t understand the menu, but the staff member making the pizza was really friendly and patiently explained all the ingredients to me. He was very attentive and actively communicated with me, which really touched me and made me feel grateful🙌🏻 The other staff were also very nice, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was great and relaxed. The food here was much better than the other restaurant near Asahibashi Station run by a Roman chef, and the prices were really reasonable. I really enjoyed it. If I visit Okinawa again, I’ll definitely come back to this restaurant. Thank you for your hospitality!🙌🏻💖

Pizzas here are a bit on the small side, but I think it's still probably one of the best places to go for pizza in Naha.

If you are staying at the hotel, I highly recommend trying out Restaurant Sunpeer. Their EM fresh tomato is a must-try and it is the best tomato I have ever had. Additionally, their Dango rice ball and Warabi bracken cake are delicious options. The mixed seafood sushi rice and Sashimi are also popular among overseas visitors. The quality of all the dishes is excellent and they are skillfully prepared.
Absolutely loved this buffet style restaurant located at the Yuinchi Hotel. Such a nice variety of food, and everything was so yummy and made from good quality ingredients. They have plenty of seating area and if you choose to sit by the window during breakfast hours, you might be able to see the horses! The prices are quite good for the food you get 👍🏻

Must try if you are staying in this hotel! My favourite item is the EM fresh tomato, best ever tomato I have in my life. Next best thing is the Dango rice ball (団子) with Warabi bracken cake (わらび餅). Mixed seafood sushi rice and Sashimi are also being served, overseas visitors may like them very much. Overall wonderful quality and all the dishes are skillfully made. I think the lunch represent better value than the 2000 yen breakfast. The lunch buffet is 2400 yen only, the food is perfect, also with amazing sea view and farm view. Will come again next time.

During our stay at Yuinchi Hotel Nanjo, we had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast at Restaurant Sunpeer—and it turned out to be one of the better hotel breakfasts we’ve had. What made it extra memorable wasn’t just the wide variety of dishes (both Japanese and Western), but the spectacular panoramic views from the dining area. With huge windows looking out over Nanjo’s rolling hills and lush greenery, every bite felt even more enjoyable. The buffet had something for everyone—from fresh fruit, soft pastries, and made-to-order omelettes to warm miso soup and perfectly seasoned grilled fish. The kids loved the selection, and we all left feeling fueled and content for the day ahead. The peaceful ambience, friendly staff, and breathtaking scenery made for the perfect start to each morning. It wasn’t just a meal—it was a moment to slow down and truly take in Okinawa’s beauty.

Maybe we went on an off day, but for the price the amount of selection was not worth the price your paying. Went for dinner and got a steak, sashimi, and cooked seafood dish that was not part of the buffet so you couldn’t order more. The rest of the buffet was disappointing with less then 20 dishes that where cold event for the suppose hot dishes.

Kunnato Mozuku Soba Shop is a traditional Okinawa-style restaurant that offers local food specialties, with the must-try dish being the seaweed noodles with soy sauce. We wanted to try some food that is special for Okinawa, and we found this place that has special soba with mozuku seaweed. The price for the set meal is reasonable, and we like how we can refill the mozuku seaweed as much as we want. The sea view from the store is pretty nice too.

Popped in for a lunch, we sat outside and enjoyed the ocean view. It's a good place to get a hearty set meal and I'd definitely recommend it.

Very homely ambience. Ample parking. Loved the food! Mainly soba, but do order the set with pork ribs. Pork ribs were sweet. Set includes various cooking methods of seaweed, which are all very good. If you're in the area, you have to try this place.

Amazing noodles!!! The broth is wonderful and the seaweed is delicious. I really enjoyed the seaweed tempura too. I think one of the nicest thing about this restaurant is the location. You can eat inside or outside. The outside looks like canteen seating and is still covered, so you can eat casually while enjoying the ocean breeze, rain or shine.
