Cape Manzamo

Mentioned on
1 list
Scenic spot
Nature & Parks
Cape Manzamo is a popular oceanfront rock formation that resembles an elephant's trunk, attracting many tourists and photographers. While some visitors find it touristy due to the commercialization at the entrance, others appreciate the stunning views and affordable admission. Despite occasional closures during stormy weather, the cape offers a breathtaking outlook of waves crashing against the cliffs.
This place is very beautiful and convenient, with plenty of parking. When you enter the first building, you can buy tickets, visit souvenir shops, and enjoy a variety of restaurants—perfect for relaxing before heading out to the cape. It can get quite hot, so bring sunscreen or an umbrella. The cape and beach are absolutely stunning—a must-visit when you’re in Okinawa!
Thanutchaknowles — Google review
This is more of a big gift shop rather than a scenery attraction. The entrance is 100 yen, it’s nothing but you don’t get too much for that money anyway. When I approached the ticket machine, the staff nearby instantly started pressing buttons for me, immediately switching menu to English presuming I couldn’t speak Japanese, it was quite annoying because I haven’t asked for help.
DK W — Google review
Very nice view, blue sky and sea with greenery. The cape is so beautiful and the water is very clear. The restrooms are very clean. I love here. Only 100 Yen for ticket.
Chutamaneerat S — Google review
Visited Cape Manzamo with my family as part of a tour bus trip and spent about 30 minutes there. The view of the ocean and the famous cliff shaped like an elephant’s trunk was absolutely stunning. The walking path is well maintained and easy, making it suitable for families and kids. Even in a short visit, it was a beautiful stop to enjoy Okinawa’s coastline and take some great photos. Tip: 30 minutes is enough for a quick visit, but you could easily spend longer if you have more time.
Ayush S — Google review
Beautiful cliffside view overlooking the ocean. The entrance fee is only 100 yen, very reasonable. If you visit in September, the weather is extremely hot, so be mindful of heatstroke and bring water. It can get quite crowded with tourists. Inside, there are restaurants, souvenir shops with cute gifts, and a stamp station for collectors.
M ( — Google review
Beautiful location, cheap ticket price, great parking. Perfect for a quick pitstop and tasty local cafes at the entrance offering local snacks at reasonable prices. Would recommend to anyone passing by, the viewpoints are lovely but quite busy and the area is very easy walking, suitable for all ages.
Chris B — Google review
worth paying 100 yen entrance fee per person. car park is free. The elephant rock is unique. The blue sea and waves splashing against the rock is mesmerising.
David — Google review
Went in November and the weather is good to view the cape. The cape was breathtaking but sadly that is the only highlight. Admission fee is 100yen.

Cape Maeda

Beach
Nature & Parks
Caverns & Caves
Cape Maeda is a stunning coastal gem that attracts visitors with its breathtaking panoramic views and vibrant underwater life, making it a hotspot for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts. Beyond the bustling beach scene, adventurers can explore hidden beaches nestled among lush sugar cane fields. As you make your way through dense vegetation, you'll encounter ancient Okinawan tombs that add an air of mystique to the landscape.
Cape Maeda is an absolute gem for snorkeling and scuba diving enthusiasts visiting Okinawa. The moment you step into the water, you're greeted by an astonishing variety of sea life. From colorful schools of fish to the occasional sea turtle, sea snake, or even a large octopus, the underwater world here is nothing short of spectacular. One of the highlights is swimming along the reef to reach the famed Blue Cave. The cave itself is a mesmerizing sight, with its deep blue hues creating an almost otherworldly ambiance. It’s an excellent spot for families, providing a safe yet thrilling adventure for kids and adults alike. The popularity of Cape Maeda means it can get quite busy, especially on weekends and holidays. To truly enjoy the experience, I recommend arriving early in the morning. This not only helps you beat the crowds but also offers a chance to see more active marine life. Facilities around Cape Maeda are well-maintained, with showers and rental shops available for convenience. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to assist with gear or provide tips on the best spots to explore. Overall, Cape Maeda delivers an unforgettable experience, blending natural beauty with an abundance of marine life. Whether you’re a seasoned diver or a first-time snorkeler, this destination is a must-visit on Okinawa.
The C — Google review
Popular dive & snorkeling spot. Clear water but may not colorful. Blue cave ice cream is a must try.
Chin N — Google review
Amazing, must visit !! I’ve been twice so far once at midday, it was very crowded but it makes you feel safer if you are solo lol. I also went at 6pm and it was very quiet only a few people in the water and I got to see an octopus! So many different kinds of fish to see as well and the water is so clear and blue! I could snorkel here everyday 😍😍
Jessie H — Google review
This cape is gorgeous, it had a good summer breeze and not too windy. You could hire snorkel gear on site and swim to the blue cave yourself- there were many people doing this. You could people watch from the cliff and have a picnic.
HN — Google review
Great snorkeling and diving spot. Clear water and a lot of fish. Plenty of parking and restrooms. Make sure you bring cash because they tell yiu the parking accepts cards but it doesn't.
Brandon D — Google review
It is a great place to experience snorkeling or diving. It has a big coral reef site where there are a lot to see. The Blue Cave is miracle. Provided the weather is fine, the waterfront is accessible via a staircase. A few diver shops offer services there. Pretty convenient if one wants to try. Very popular.
Patrick L — Google review
Gorgeous cliffs by the blue sea, not a very big area to wander about, one may finish a circle walk in 20 mins, but then again, it’s biggest draw is actually about scuba diving in the crystal clear waters or surfing the gentle white waves.
覃羿彬 — Google review
Great snorkeling and diving spot. Try to go during week versus a crowded weekend. A sea cave awaits if you go right and more colorful coral with blue starfish, puffers, and lion fish await to left (have to swim around lookout point.

Manza Beach is a resort-area beach nestled in a cove with tranquil waters, offering amenities like umbrella and chair rentals as well as inflatable water play spots. It's known for being the filming location of the movie "Battle of Okinawa," making it a popular spot for Chinese tourists to capture photos. While there is an admission fee for access to part of the beach, visitors can enjoy a beautiful and clean ocean park with various activities such as swimming, snorkeling, and water sports.
Pretty nice public beach next to Ana Intercontinental Manza Beach Resort. Calm water with marked area for swimming. There is rental gear provided by the resort for guests. The activities included float, snorkel, etc. There is activity center for snorkel, sunset cruise.
Qlv A — Google review
Great beach with restaurants nearby. Good for sunset drink and pizza on the beach.
J T — Google review
Beautiful beach with crystal clear water. I believe this is a public beach, but there was a guardhouse at the entrance which made me wonder… nevertheless, drove through and grabbed and a park and enjoyed the cool waters on a warm day.
Life's A — Google review
It’s a resort beach so expect a lot of people. They’re famous for the ocean park which is a blast. I would be king of the playground if there wasn’t a stupid rule about not pushing kids off. How else am I supposed to assert my dominance
Jesse — Google review
Beautiful, clean, ocean park with plenty to do! Plan for a day excursion. It can be a little pricier if you aren't a resort guest but well worth the experience. Parking costs 2500 yen. Umbrella and chairs for rent on the beach are yen only as well. There is a beach side pool and so many water activities. There were plenty of food options beach side as well. Worth a visit!
Danielle — Google review
Beautiful beach! Right down below a gorgeous resort! You have to walk through the resort parking lot to get down there, but it’s free! Lovely place for swimming and snorkeling, though you’ll definitely want water shoes because it’s fairly shallow and lots of rocks and coral. There are some restaurants around too!
Rebecca A — Google review
Best beach in Okinawa to my opinion. We stopped just between the hotel and the fenced water beach. There is a small rock in the ocean just across. Beautiful place, that has some palm trees to get under from the sun. Nice view of the hotel.
Evgeny P — Google review
Comfortable, quiet, free beach with free parking. Small swimming area, but it has free beach seating with umbrellas. Was pretty empty when I went. Lots of paid activities at the resort such as jetski rental and snorkeling tours, but I didn't try any of them.

It is a beautiful beach. Even you're not guest of the hotel you can experience various marine activities they offer. Due to weather condition I was not able to try the zip line. But I did the snorkeling. It was my first time and the staffs were all so friendly and helpful. The snorkeling experience was amazing.
Davaajav D — Google review
Beautiful beach right with clear water right off of the Sheraton hotel.

Its nice to not have to wear shoes in on the beach or the water! Beautiful place to swim and enjoy the sun! We stayed at the hotel but the beach is free, you pay for parking for a day pass.

(Translated by Google) It's really good, so please go! It's a bit of a walk, but the pier is near the end of the zipline! If the weather is nice, you can take some really nice photos and have a great time relaxing. The sea is crystal clear and you can see small, colorful fish swimming around. I want to relax here next time🙌 (Original)

Nabee Beach

Beach club
Outdoor Activities
Nabee Beach is a delightful destination for families and beach lovers alike, offering a charming atmosphere without the burden of entry fees. Located near Maribu Beach House, it features ample free parking and allows visitors to set up tents or rent them on-site. The beach boasts clean facilities, including showers and restrooms, although maintenance can be hit or miss due to its free access. During swim season, guests can enjoy swimming in a designated netted area under the watchful eye of lifeguards.
Nabee Beach 🚙 put “ナビービーチ駐車場” in Google maps and park there, free parking lot 🚶 walk 1-2 min from the parking lot, past some buildings and shops to the beach 🛟 lifeguard on duty 🧺 covered picnic tables 🤿 must wear a life jacket for snorkeling ⛱️ rental place for all kinds of equipment rentals close by
Samantha R — Google review
You can walk at this beach free and no need to pay . Just that it is hidden at a corner and you need to walk 150 m from the car park to Nabee Beach😍
Margaret M — Google review
There’s a lot parking. There’s a netted swimming area. The shower room was good 2 mins for ¥100 wasn’t bad. It’s my second favorite beach. There’s a life guard on duty and an air machine for your floaty.
Geranie G — Google review
Such a fun beach! Bathrooms, covered patio with picnic tables, ocean activities and plenty of parking available. During swim season, you’re able to swim in a netted area. It doesn’t keep everything out (saw a few fish swim in and out along the perimeter of the net) but we had no issues. Our kids found a small clownfish family swimming in an anemone! A lifeguard is on duty during this time. We’ve gone a few times during the off season and have still had fun. No lifeguards on duty during the winter. There’s a small jetty to the left of the beach that has a spot for a photo op, and there’s a large swing for photos too (unable to swing, it’s secured to the ground). Further down the beach are some rocky areas, great for exploring. I’d definitely recommend some water shoes/felt bottoms to help protect your feet if you’ll be in that area. We did one of their ocean activities (raft towed by jet ski) and our son had a lot of fun. Staff was kind and made sure he was comfortable. There is a small playground nearby. Definitely better for younger kids (my 4 year olds had fun). Definitely a fun beach to visit if you get a chance. Easy to find too!
Alexandra O — Google review
Nice beach to hang out and relax, clear sea. Kids can play on the sand. We have been there in February and the weather was nice
Guzide D — Google review
This is our family's favorite beach. The parking lot is big and free, you're allowed to set up a tent or you can rent one there. There are showers ¥100 for 3 minutes with good water pressure but out of the 3 (I think) there are, 1 or 2 often don't work. Same with toilets. I think because it is a free beach, it is not maintained enough, so there is often trash there and there are a bunch of sharp rocks underwater. Also my advice is to watch the tidal waves, because during low tide it gets very shallow and painful to walk over the rocky bottom.
Mariya A — Google review
Small free public beach. However, the sand and water are both quite rocky. The sectioned off region is also really small and hard to swim since it's so shallow. Recommend wearing sandals/water shoes while here. There is a cool little island a bit into the water you can basically walk to.
Bryan C — Google review
Cute community beach and free to enter/park. The beach is beautiful and clean. Have clean shower room and toilet. There are tables to sit and relax. I think it's a good option if you want to go to a beautiful beach in Onna and don't want to pay entry fee or parking fee to hotel beaches. There are also buses and limousines from Naha to this beach.

Onna Village Museum

Local history museum
Museums
Specialty Museums
The Onna Village Museum is a small but pleasant local history museum that showcases the cultural and fishing heritage of the village. It features dioramas, tool exhibits, and books on display across two floors. The first floor serves as a tourist information center for visitors to learn more about Onna Village's attractions. The artifacts are described in English for non-Japanese speakers to comprehend.
You are able to come here, enjoy the view of the ocean while reading a good book of your choice. There is a public library upstairs from the museum.
ブラウンエリック — Google review
*Free* town museum. All signs in Japanese. We were able to use Google translate. The history of the area was cool to learn about. Plenty of parking next to museum.
Yuuki A — Google review
Not a large museum but with free entrance, displaying several informative and professionally displayed exhibits and artifacts of local culture. Definitely worth the time for a short visit.
Vincent O — Google review
It's a small regional museum. Unfortunately the second part of the exhibition is closed currently. Still, if you drive bye the area I would recommend to visit. Entrance is free. Parking situation is sometimes challenging.
Ronny F — Google review
Nice but tiny museum. Which the description of the artifacts were translated in english
UPASANA P — Google review
A great place to relax, browse and, get an appreciation for the culture and lifestyles of Okinawan people, in the past. Though, little English is spoken, the staff can assist those, who speak some basic Japanese. Here, I have found the personnel, working there, exceptionally helpful and, willing to travel outdoors, assisting me, in uncovering, new historical finds.
Michael L — Google review
The Onna Village Museum and the Onna Cultural Information Center are located next to the Onna Leisure Market and can be admitted free of charge. The 1st floor is a tourist information center with many sightseeing information about Onna Village. 2nd and 3rd floor, a library and a display hall. From the rest area, you can see the magnificent coast of Onna Village. It is a well-known deep spot with very few tourists.

Diamond Beach

Beach
Outdoor Activities
Diamond Beach, nestled in the stunning Onna Village, boasts a breathtaking coastline that stretches between Nago City and Yomitan Village. This picturesque location is renowned for its rocky shore attractions and vibrant diving resorts like Cape Zanpa and Cape Masada. With crystal-clear waters perfect for water sports enthusiasts, Diamond Beach offers an idyllic escape for those looking to soak up the sun or dive into aquatic adventures.
A beautiful beach with crystal clear water. This beach is located behind Okashigoten Onna Branch, and you can reach it by going down the stairs next to the store. I visited in September, and although it rained occasionally in the afternoon, luckily the weather was very hot when we went to this beach. We traveled by bus, but buses in Okinawa are often not on time, which forced us to cut many plans from our itinerary. I recommend renting a car for a more efficient trip and to save time.
Miftahul F — Google review
Nice quiet beach and easy access from the road. Great place for the collection of the shells. Water was rough today so limited swimming but without a storm the water would be calm for easy swimming
Dean P — Google review
Good beach to snorkel. Be careful in the evening. The tides rise almost all the way to the seawall. You can easily lose your belongings.
Anthony S — Google review
Great beach for snorkeling and SUP! Even on cloudy days the water was clear enough! Please respect the coral and don't break it!!!
Yuuki A — Google review
If you want to get close when snorkeling this is the place for you. At most 3 feet deep. Fish are everywhere if you swim little more to the right it’s deeper with so pretty big fish! Have fun and be safe!
Hannah H — Google review
This beach is absolutely amazing at high tide! In lightly cloudy days evening tide can be combined with observing one of the best sunset colors! Also nice for snorkeling, thought there are quite many nests around the shore, so meeting a male fish protecting its area is likely o happen.
Юлия В — Google review
Nice small beach. Walk to the right side of the restaurant/shop building and take few stairs down towards cafe shop.
Tomas J — Google review
Great little beach! Super fun for kids with rocks to climb and plenty of soft sand to play in. The water was stunningly beautiful, and the snorkeling was nice! (Not the best, but lovely) Easy parking, access to food and treats and a nice foot-washing station. Loved this beach!

Fuchaku Beach

Beach
Outdoor Activities
Fuchaku Beach is a beautiful and easily accessible stretch of coastline, part of the Okinawa Coast Quasi-National Park. During the off-season, it's unattended, making it a perfect spot for swimming or sunbathing if you're staying at a nearby resort that has a 'No Swimming' rule in winter. It's free to visit but lacks facilities like bathrooms and changing rooms. While there are no signs indicating it as Tiger Beach, some parts may belong to Hotel Monterey.
(+) Beautiful stretch of beach / coastline. (+) Easy access from sidewalk. (+) Unattended in winter (off season), so perfect place for swimming or sunbathing if you're staying at a nearby resort that has the No Swimming winter rule. (+) Free of charge. (+) Seems to be part of Okinawa Coast Quasi-National Park (-) NO signs indicating that it's Tiger Beach. (-) Unclear how much of it is public and what "belongs" to Hotel Monterey (-) No bathrooms or any facilities (showers, changing rooms, etc.)
C M — Google review
Of course I prefer the tiger Beach of old. My family and I spent many years on this beach over the last thirty something years. We use to have a week-long party every fourth of July for many years before they tore down the original Resort. This was the last local Resort on Okinawa. Now there are no more local resorts, they're all for the tourist with no local rates!
David S — Google review
Mainly targetted at tourists, with activities and facilities that you need to pay for. Has life guard at designated swimming areas. Has basic shower facilties though.
Clarence S — Google review
Beautiful place to merge in mother nature. Forget all the worries of this world and enjoy the sound of water waves with beautiful sunsets..

One of the best beach near Onna-son on fuchaku. The moonbeach hotel provide free of cost swimming space secured by net to avoid any kind of complexity due to Jelly Fish.

It would have been a lot more enjoyable if there was some shade and a nice recliner. However, it's a FREE beach so beggars can't be choosers.
LaVince J — Google review

Manza Park

Park
Outdoor Activities
After a visit to Cape Manzamo, I made a quick stop at Manza Park, conveniently located just a short two-minute drive away. This park provided great entertainment for young children, allowing them to have an enjoyable time while expending their energy before dinner. It featured a basketball court with a single hoop and also boasted a small playground equipped with swings and slides. The park itself offered stunning views of the ocean and impressive rock formations, adding to its overall charm.
Beautifully ocean & fabulous rocks. Good weather.

Zakimi Castle Ruins

Historical place
Sights & Landmarks
Zakimi Castle Ruins are an ancient structure that was constructed in the years 1416-1422. The partially restored walls and ruins provide visitors with a center to explore while enjoying beautiful views. While there aren't many explanatory signs, the architecture is stunning, and the view from the wall is breathtaking. The immense castle grounds offer picturesque hikes for visitors to enjoy, surrounded by beautifully arranged rocks and arches that add to its peaceful atmosphere.
A beautiful place to take a stroll and take in the gorgeous landscape. These castle ruins have nice paved roads through woods and views of the water and nearby city. I love being surrounded by nature and walking here allows you to recharge.
Desiree M — Google review
Fantastic part of history to visit. Very glad I was able to walk the grounds and take in the views. Definitely go visit if you have the chance.
Edward L — Google review
The grass was so green and maintained everywhere. It was absolutely beautiful. The tall walls are impressive. There's so much space so you can explore without running into too many people. It was hotttt in the sun but the wind tunnels through the arch ways and feels so good.
Amber G — Google review
We were going from Cape Zanpa to American Village and decided to stop along the way. Sure glad we did. The ruins are well maintained. I believe you call that an oxymoron, but the entire area / park is so clean and organized. Looks like Pine trees surround the castle which doesn’t make you feel like you’re in a tropical region. The view from the top of the castle ruins is nice too. A great way to leisurely pass 30-45 min.
Nick T — Google review
An ideal location for a leisurely walk and photography, boasting a wonderful vista that can be enjoyed by climbing the ramparts to gaze at the horizon, along with its historical importance.
KE-HAO C — Google review
It's kind of crazy how many of these sites exist where they do. Unless you're looking for it, you probably wouldn't even know it was there. The trees lining the walkway up to the castle really set the tone for the incredible structure that's still standing after so many years. Once inside there's a large item space with another set of stairs that will take you to the upper level which is a bit smaller. The last set of stairs allows you to walk along the top of the walls giving you a view of the ocean, city, and mountains. I went close to sunset which is a great time to take some nice photos. It's quiet up there aside from the birds, it's quite peaceful if you are at all interested in history and great views away from all the traffic and so many people. I've seen a few of these sites and the view at this one is my favorite one so far, I recommend taking some time out to see it if you're visiting Okinawa.
Daniel S — Google review

Nakamura Soba

$$$$affordable
Noodle shop
Nakamura Soba is a no-frills restaurant located along Onna Sunset Coast road in Okinawa, offering a panoramic sea view and outdoor seating. They serve traditional Okinawan soba, which features thick wheat noodles in a light broth with options like pork slices or seaweed. The noodles are distinct from those found in mainland Japan, resembling thick ramen or udon. Visitors often experience queues but find the wait worthwhile for flavorful soup and chewy noodles.
Our lunch spot after our dive and it was just perfect. Maybe a bit biased as we were straying after the dive. You order through a ticket machine but its cash only so dont think your cards will work here. They will provide change for larger bill denominations to use in the machine. Noodles was bouncy, springy and perfectly cooked and the pork was just juicy delicious. Slurping the amazing local Okinawa food seated outdoors. Without a car or guided trip, wouldn’t even think so visiting or known about this place and we were glad we visited.
Terrence C — Google review
Hidden along the highway and serves local soba with pork ribs or pork Belly. Broth is nice and meat tender. Small seating. Suitable for family and tourists driving through.
Sabrina T — Google review
Had to run to the Lawson’s nearby to get some cash. But 5/5 the best Soba we’ve tried in Okinawa. The view of Manza beach just added to the whole experience!
Restin T — Google review
This restaurant is truly a hidden gem that will leave you wondering why its ratings aren't higher. The quality of the view alone sets the scene for a memorable dining experience, but the flavors are what truly surprise and delight. Upon arrival, you're treated to a stunning ambiance that harmonizes perfectly with the surroundings. One of the standout features here is the choice in broth, which allows diners to tailor the taste to their preference. You can go for a pork-based broth if you're after something rich and savory, or opt for a seafood base for a lighter, more refreshing flavor. Each broth is expertly crafted, with deep, nuanced flavors that taste like they've been simmering for hours. In addition to the broth, the ingredients are of the highest quality, with fresh, flavorful vegetables and meats that enhance each bite. The texture and aroma combine to deliver a full sensory experience. It’s evident that the chefs put thought and care into every detail, making this place a must-visit for anyone looking to explore unique tastes. Despite the relatively average ratings, this place shines with authenticity and quality. The experience is elevated by the view and the meticulous preparation, making it a destination well worth the visit for those seeking a true culinary escape.

- food: we order no.3 which is more porky and flavorful and the special one with more pork. We love it broth was so yummy and noodle as well. But we found it a bit too sweet for us. So, we order the no.1 which is seaweed-based noodle and broth and we think this was perfect! the right amount of flavorfulness for us - service: staff was nice and friendly though it was super packed when we visited - atmosphere: slurping broth with the ocean view was amazing!

Finally after three days we have managed to try the okinawa soba !! After 20mins of queue its our turn and it was great!! The soup was flavourful and the noodles were chewy as well. Two of us ordered the one with seagrapes while i ordered the one with spareribs and pork belly. I preferred mine more as the flavour was stronger. We were also provided with a chilli infused alcohol as a condiment with the soba. I ordered the set with the steamed flavored soya rice as well called jushi if im not wrong. All in all, everyone finished their meal till the last drop and you know what it means!! GO TRY IT!! You need to have it if you are in Okinawa :)

The soup and noodles are absolutely amazing! Noodles are firm with great bite and texture. But the seaweed (#1) and pork based (#3) soup are the best we have so far and the pork itself is very well balanced between lean and fatty bits to give it both flavor and texture. Update: returned for Soba #2 and whilst the soup is richer than #1 the rib pork is a bit leaner (but no less tastier) than both #1 and #3. Parking aplenty and if you get a seat by the window to slurp down the hot noodles it’ll be one amazing experience.

Okinawan “soba” is distinct from the soba consumed in mainland Japan. It is made from wheat flour rather than buckwheat flour, the most familiar Okinawa soba has a topping of sliced pork (stewed pork belly with sweet and spicy flavor) on the noodles.Amazing 😋

SEA SIDE DRIVE-IN

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
Seaside Drive In is a nostalgic pit stop with a view of the sea, offering a mix of Western and Asian cuisine. The restaurant has an old-school American diner vibe with vintage memorabilia from the 50s and 60s, as well as fish tanks to add to the ambiance. It's known for its quick service, reasonable prices, and clean, family-friendly environment. The menu features options like the Seaside Sandwich and classic American dishes.
The food was very tasty and extremely affordable for a larger group. Loved the fish tanks and vintage artwork. The kids meals were a hit, and I loved the sweet and sour pork. Beautiful view of the water from the table.

If you like old fashioned showa-type places that look like they’re stuck in a time warp then this is the place for you. I gather it’s quite famous locally and while I can’t fault the atmosphere (place is like an old school dinner hall, and there are tin toys on display etc), the food itself isn’t up to much. At least it’s cheap.

Sea Side Drive-In offers a pleasant seaside scenery and ambiance. The design does reminds me of a US diner with some Japanese touches, including a collection of childhood toys/memories and motorbikes. It seems to lean towards Western food options. We tried the tonkatsu, which was disappointing, as were the miso soup and black coffee. The unagi don was acceptable. Note that this establishment only accepts yen.

I had beef fried rice which seemed to be their signature menu. The fried rice was indeed good, but the portion was slightly big. Be careful if you’re a small eater! It came with the soup as well so you might also have to consider that

Really nice atmosphere and location, the view by the window is beautiful and I'd definitely come back to enjoy a meal by the sea. It took about 10 minutes to be seated but it didn't feel like long since I spent the time looking at all the cool vintage stuff they had inside. When it comes to the food there was a pretty big difference in quality between the items. I split the egg and steak sandwich with a friend and it was a perfect 10/10. The pork cutlet bowl was a 7.5/10 it was pretty good and filling. People say the soup is bland but it's simple and filling not necessarily delicious but decent I'd give it a 5/10. I'd also recommend putting some of the seasoning on it. The pork cutlet bowl came with miso soup as a side but it was way too strong I couldn't stand more than two tablespoons of it 0/10.

A restaurant with a lot of history and a great view. You can grab a table in the restaurant, which has the old school American diner feel, and choose from American inspired dishes or a blend of Asian food options. The place has a nice relaxing, almost like home, setting. Lots of 50s- 60s memorabilia, some fun conversation pieces, and a few nice fish tanks to look at, if the beautiful beach view somehow isn’t enough. The sign and menu says 24 hours but I guess it now closes at midnight on weeknights and at 0100 on weekends. Doors open at 0800. Breakfast menu runs until 1100. If you’re in a hurry, you can order at the walk up window outside and order “fast food” but I chose to take my time and look around. I’m glad I did! The server spoke English very well and the menu is in both English and Japanese. The price was good for what I ordered and I’m looking forward to coming back for breakfast and also a 280 yen fish sandwich and 300 yen cheeseburger!

Overview: Seaside Drive-In hits the sweet spot for nostalgia buffs and casual diners alike. Nestled beside the soothing waves, this eatery boasts an authentically retro vibe, complemented by a refreshingly cool atmosphere, indicative of its seaside location. Its round-the-clock operation caters to night owls and early birds, ensuring that a hearty meal with a view is never out of reach. Ambiance: The moment you step in, you're transported to a different era, thanks to the meticulously curated selection of retro props, including classic toys, a shiny jukebox, and vintage motorcycles, which are more than just décor but conversation starters. Food: The set breakfast and lunches are a steal – they're not only mouthwateringly good but also easy on the wallet, making it a local favorite for all ages. Service: Being open 24 hours, Seaside Drive-In stands out as a beacon of comfort food at any hour, which means whether you're craving pancakes at dawn or a burger post-midnight, they've got you covered. My Opinion: The Seaside Drive-In is a must-visit for those who appreciate a touch of nostalgia with their meals. Its commitment to an authentic retro experience, both in décor and culinary offerings, makes it a unique spot that's more than just a dining venue—it's an immersive trip down memory lane with the perks of delicious, affordable meals.

It's been a few years since I visited this place last. So, this weekend we dropped in to see how the food and service was. It was excellent. Our meals arrived quickly and prices were reasonably low. The menu has changed over the years. The Seaside Sandwich was our choice. My friend had one with french fries. I consumed two of the sandwiches, without ordering fries as I'm trying to quit eating unhealthy foods. This restaurant is clean, family friendly and handicap accessible. No credit cards accepted so, Japanese yen would be the correct currency to use. I was impressed and will return to sample more of the meals.

Ryukyu No Ushi

$$$$expensive
Yakiniku restaurant
Steak house
Ryukyu No Ushi is a contemporary restaurant that specializes in traditional grilled meat and local wagyu beef. The high-end ingredients and independent private space make for an exclusive dining experience. In addition to the delicious and tender beef, there are options for chicken and pork dishes. Freshness is a priority here, with carefully processed squid being a standout item on the menu. Due to limited seating, it's advisable to make reservations in advance.
Great service with friendly staff along with great food that will highlight your trip and day. The private booths mean you can enjoy your dinner with ample privacy although you should remember to observe usual Japanese etiquette not to talk too loud as the partitions between booths are rather slim. Staff are friendly and will advise and guide you every time a dish was served and how to cook them, very welcoming and approachable. Food quality was great, as you will be treated with high quality beef/pork/chicken Okinawa has to offer, whilst you get to cook it with a high quality personal stove, not one that you will typically find in ur daily yakiniku adventures. The milk pudding at the end presented a refreshing conclusion to an otherwise memorable 2 hrs of mouth water high quality meat. I'll recommend and look forward to come again.

Jam

Steak house
Restaurant
Teppanyaki restaurant
Jam is a teppanyaki steak house that offers a variety of meat and seafood dishes cooked on grills. The restaurant has an ambiance reminiscent of a tropical movie set, with fruity cocktails adding to the exotic vibe. While it's advisable to make reservations in advance, even if there are no available seats upon arrival, the staff is accommodating and willing to reserve seats for later. The wait is well worth it as customers can enjoy a memorable dining experience with delicious food and friendly service.
This place offers a fun island dining experience! Firstly, the place is one huge island vibe. The decorations are tacky yet fitting and eccentric. From the bamboo chairs to fish tank next to the toilet, to the clam sinks, to the shark in the dessert area and the parrot toothpicks in the drinks; I loved every centimeter of this place! For dinner times, especially the early shift, you're best to make reservations a few weeks in advance if you're looking to come for a specific date. Be sure to show up on time, because you only get 1.5h to enjoy your time in the main dining area before they move you to the dessert area. My husband and I decided to do the couple's experience, which included a salad, a freshly baked bun with curry soup, meat and shrimp (option), a picture of us at the end and a little dessert afterwards. For drinks, we ordered multiple (non)alcoholic cocktails which all tasted amazing and all contained a piece of fruit which was refreshing. All staff, from front desk host to all the waitresses to the chef who cooked our meat, were wonderful during our time there. I would love to come back sometime in the future!

RESERVATIONS ARE A MUST! Ahead of time too! We got the last seats available which was at 9pm! I called a week out! Wine and dine here for a special occasion with your family! Date night, YES! My husband and I came here for our 17th wedding anniversary! We ordered tje Tiara Tahiti special and it came with a photo and you choose the frame you want your photo in! That was lovely! Teppanyaki is always a fun way to enjoy your food! And this place did not disappoint! I wish they did include the customers during their cooking time though! Our chef was pretty cool! I believe his name tag read “IMAI”! Gochisosamadeshita! 🙏🏽🫶🏽. Bathrooms were a trip but none the less entertaining! Fish tanks in the ladies rooms were so cute! My husband never made it into the men’s restroom unfortunately! Would recommend!

I enjoyed the teppanyaki and the service in Jam. We came for lunch and managed to walk in without reservation. The seafood (fish, chicken, big prawns, squid, scallops) and chicken meal was fried to perfection. Of course the steaks were fantastic too. Gratitude to everyone for this great meal, I thank the farmers, the staff and servers for the great experience for the body and soul.

One of my top five restaurant experiences in Japan, amazing stuff. First of all the venue is atmospheric as hell, perfectly lit with all kinds of weird and wonderful decorations on the wall. The service is perfect with attentive staff who can speak English. And when the time comes for the food, it’s cooked in front of you on a teppan by a friendly and chatty chef who can fill you in on the highlights of the local area. Be sure to check out the bar area after you’ve eaten, it’s a great way to relax after stuffing your face. Price wise, there’s a good range. The top level stuff will see you dropping almost 20,000 but there are budget options. Expect to pay around 5000 as a minimum though. Wonderful place, I’ll come again.

Excellent hibachi style restaurant with a very cool tropical/tribal theme for decoration. Recommend reservations, or be prepared to walk around a bit while you wait! The food was delicious and the drinks were good. I liked the lounge area that you move to for dessert. Don’t let your children play with the marbles in the men’s room urinals. Also, the ceiling in there has interesting decor style.

Paanilani

$$$$affordable
Pancake restaurant
Paanilani is a popular Hawaiian pancake house located in Onna, Okinawa. It's known for its delicious pancakes and interesting combos, such as fried fish with pancakes and pancakes with french fries on top. The restaurant can get quite crowded during meal hours, so it's recommended to avoid peak times to minimize the wait. Despite the small size of the establishment, the food is worth it for pancake lovers.
I’m not usually a fan of pancakes, but we came here because of my daughter — and I’m so glad we did. The pancakes at Paanilani were absolutely delicious: soft, fluffy, and full of flavor. I ended up enjoying them so much, we ordered an extra stack! Definitely worth a visit, even if you’re not a pancake person.

I usually stick to healthy food, but I followed a YouTuber’s recommendation—and wow, it was so worth it. The pancakes were incredibly soft and fluffy, and before I knew it, I had almost finished them all! The peanut sauce wasn’t too sweet, which I really liked. I just wish they gave a bit more banana. The strawberry milk was delicious—slightly tangy and super refreshing, though a bit too sweet for my taste. I went before 10 AM, so it wasn’t crowded, but it looked like there might be a wait after that.

If you are missing America and want a splash of heavy dough pancakes to set you back in a heavy insulin rollercoaster seat - this is your place:) American diner style feel and usually a very international vibe. It’s legit you won’t be disappointed. VERY generous portions and their bacon is thicker than their pancakes!

I was told I must try this place before I left island. I should have come sooner. The nut pancakes were fantastic. Soft, chewy, not too sweet. I came early (~7:20) to try and get ahead of the crowd..I ended up having to wait outside about 15-20 minutes. But by 8:00 there was no line and open seating, so maybe come around then to avoid having to wait outside for a table.

Sailfish Cafe offers convenience, but the food was not that good. They tend to over cooked everything, making the meat rather chewy. Aqua Belle offers a wide variety of international gourmet buffet and a la carte menu items with beautiful views of the garden pool and Manza Bay. The servers are amazing, providing great service all day long.
This breakfast place is lovely. They have a lot of options to pick from which is why I think it’s quite popular. The place also has a holiday vibe and is quite noisy (in a buzzing/fun way). They have an omelet station which is amazing (the eggs are so fluffy)! They also have a waffle or pancake station (depending on the day) where they make fresh hotcakes in front of you. They also have an Okinawan section with taco rice and Okinawan soba. There is also a danish pastry section. They also have western food and Asian food. Overall a great variety of food!

The Orange

$$$$affordable
Italian restaurant
European restaurant
The Orange is a high-end eatery that offers picturesque ocean views, specializing in Italian cuisine with an emphasis on seafood. It has gained a strong reputation for its excellent food and service. Known as Wine & Dining The Orange, this restaurant is associated with the tropical resort Kafu Fuchaku Hotel & condo, showcasing impeccable hospitality. The dishes are crafted using local ingredients and expertly executed French culinary techniques.
This restaurant is located in the Kafuu Resort Condotel. There is plenty of parking in the hotel lots. We have come here for a multi-course dinner and for their lunch buffet. Both meals were exquisite and reasonably priced. I made reservations for dinner and we just showed up for lunch with no reservations and were seated easily. The multi course meal allowed you to pick your entree with accompanying courses of fish, pasta, bread and dessert. Each dish was absolutely delicious and culminated in both of us feeling full, pampered, and satisfied. Our first course was a fried Italian bread, followed by a delicate fish dish, mentaiko cream pasta, another grilled fish, steak, and dessert. The lunch buffet has a large assortment of salads, sides, roast beef, and dessert, along with a menu of pastas that are made to order (you can order as many plates as you like). All were incredibly delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion.
Mariann D — Google review
I recently dined at The Orange, an Italian restaurant in Okinawa, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. While the ambiance was delightful, the quality of the food and service fell short of expectations. ## Ambiance First, let me highlight the positive aspect: the environment. The Orange boasts a charming decor that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. The interior is stylishly designed, with comfortable seating and a cozy vibe that makes it a pleasant place to relax. Whether you're on a romantic date or enjoying a meal with friends, the setting is enjoyable and conducive to a good time. ## Food Quality However, the food itself was a significant disappointment. I found the dishes to be tasteless and, regrettably, overcooked. Italian cuisine is known for its bold flavors and fresh ingredients, but my meal lacked both. The pasta was mushy, and the sauces felt bland, failing to deliver the vibrant taste one would expect from a quality Italian restaurant. It was disheartening to experience such a lack of flavor, especially when dining out. Additionally, the presentation of the dishes didn't compensate for the flavor issues. While the meals looked decent at first glance, the taste simply did not match the appeal. I had anticipated a memorable culinary experience, but what I received was far from it. ## Service Speed Another downside was the slow service. We waited quite a while for our food to arrive, which was frustrating. It felt as though the restaurant was understaffed or that the kitchen was struggling to keep up with orders. For a dining experience, timely service is crucial, and the delays added to the disappointment of the meal. It's tough to enjoy a nice evening out when you are left waiting for your food for an extended period. ## Value for Money Given the quality of the food and the service, I couldn’t help but feel that The Orange was not worth the money. Dining out is an investment in both time and money, and I expected a level of quality that matched the prices on the menu. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t deliver on that front. For the cost, I would have expected much better food and service. ## Conclusion In conclusion, while The Orange offers a lovely atmosphere perfect for dining, the lack of flavorful food and slow service overshadowed any positives. It’s disappointing when a restaurant has the potential to be great but falls short in critical areas. I hope the management takes this feedback to heart and works on improving their offerings. Until then, I cannot recommend The Orange for those looking for a satisfying Italian dining experience in Okinawa. There are certainly better options available that deliver both in taste and service.
Siu W — Google review
Amazing food and place. It's almost a fine dinning restaurant to some standards but you don't pay that high price. Silver was polished, course display was great and service timing was good. We ordered the course meals and they did a good job with putting both meals out at the same time for all 5 courses. All plate display were good and clean.

Lunch buffet on weekday for 2400 yen was good deal. 8 pasta to choose from and they are all great. Well presented with high quality ingredients and pasta. Gorgonzola gnocchi and uni risotto stood out most. Portions are small so you can try them all and order as many as you like within 90 min window. Appetizers/salad/dessert bar was also great. Free cold drinks and coffee/tea also included. The outdoor covered patio has great ocean view. Inside tables actually feel a bit tight.

We will definitely be returning to eat as well as stay at the beautiful hotel.

The flavors were exquisite, each dish a masterpiece that perfectly balanced creativity and tradition. The ambiance was warm and elegant, creating the perfect setting for an unforgettable evening. Service was seamless — attentive, gracious, and genuinely caring, elevating the entire experience to a level of true refinement. This isn’t just a meal, it’s a culinary journey that delights the senses and leaves you with memories to savor. Without a doubt, a five-star gem I cannot wait to return to.

Onna Soba is a traditional Okinawan restaurant located in the Sunmarina bay area, just a 10-minute walk from Sheraton Okinawa Sunmarina Resort. The restaurant offers authentic Soki-soba, a traditional Okinawan noodle dish. It has a down-to-earth atmosphere with offbeat decor and provides fast service. Customers can purchase tickets at the vending machine at the entrance and enjoy free Japanese tea or ask for water if they prefer.
The best sokisoba in the area! Soba 800 yen and beef (chicken) curry 780 yen. Also, they have Jimami Tofu 480 yen. The order comes fast, with good service, and tasty Okinawan cuisine! locals come often. Simple atmosphere, and free parking. Perfect place for lunch!

Very local restaurant. Cash only. I had number 1 and my husband had number 3. Both were great. Authentic. If you are looking for a quick lunch place, this will be it! Highly recommend if you stay near here.

This is a no-frills Okinawa Soba house that delivers excellent soba. It opens at 11am and closes when they run out of fresh soba noodles. There was a wait as soon as they opened, but it was worth it. You order by using a Japanese style ticket vendor. CASH ONLY.

Excellent traditional Okinawa soba and other dishes, too. Delicious and reasonably priced. This place is usually packed with customers so you'll probably have to wait if you're going solo. It's worth it!

Tasty local food, with sweet Aunty helping you to make your choice. Small place with great family feels!

It was really tasty, and not expensive. The place is a very traditional okinawan restaurant, and the food came out fast. They have free Japanese tea, but you can ask for water if you don't drink tea. They have a ticket machine, and although is all in Japanese they have pictures and numbers so it is pretty easy to understand. Cash only.

I had a great experience. I went in and it was about 20 mins before they closed. My blood sugar was low and they were very kind and served me even though it was so close to closing time. We ended up staying a few minutes past close and they were okay with this. I don't speak much Japanese and I was still able to order easily. The cold Soba was really tasty.

Authentic Onna Soba (Soup noodles) where locals like to visit. A selection of pork cartilage, pork ribs, or pork knuckle noodles plus other choice such as curry sauce and rice. Self service ticket vending machine. English / Chinese menu available. Excellent small shop

Okinawa Naha Airport. An airport which serves both domestic and international flights. It is well served by the monorail which allows travellers who had landed at the airport to travel to city area seamlessly. There are many shops and F&B located at the level 2 of the airport, but mostly on the domestic terminal public area. Furthermore, after passing the immigration centre, there are 2 cafes available for passengers before boarding the international flights. Plus, there are viewing areas at level 3 & level 4 of the terminal for the public to have a bird eye view of planes taking off and landing.

Easy to navigate around the terminal on arrival. Staff at the taxi stand were great and spoke enough English to be able to communicate with.

Nice airport. Lawson right outside of luggage pickup. Connecting footbridge to railway. Convenient enough to get to the nearest town without hiring a car. And it’s only ¥320.

I was sitting in the international departure area and had the meal at Ramen Takoyaki. It was very usual that returning the tray once after finishing the meals. The moment I returned the tray to the areas of returned trays, that old Japanese grandma staff was mad at me and instantly pulled a face. I didn't do anything wrong. I have been to many airports. This is the worst customer service I have ever been received. Is it because I'm not japanese, you can treat customers badly and rudely.

I don't think I'm an unreasonable person. I've been to many countries, including many cities in Japan, but I'm very disappointed with Naha Airport! I arrived at the airport a long time early today. When the check-in was open, I saw the screen showing that my check-in counter was at window B. We lined up to check in. When we arrived, the other party was an intern, a young man with glasses. He said that my check-in counter was in window C and looked at my flight ticket. Although I was confused, I still confirmed whether he was in C. After getting a positive answer, I went to the C counter to queue up. It was hard for me. The teller at the C counter said that my check-in was in B. At this time, it had delayed me for almost an hour. I told the other party in English that I knew my information. After repeated confirmation, the B counter asked me to go to C. Finally, their manager pulled me to the B counter and handed me over to another stinky-faced female manager. She listened to me tell me about the incident as if it were our fault. There was no apology in the whole process, let alone an apology. On the contrary, we were like the unreasonable person, which made me very uncomfortable. And I will consider complaining to them by email.
