Mã Pí Lèng Pass, reaching a height of 1500m, is a must-see destination in Ha Giang. It connects the remote districts of Meo Vac and Dong Van and is the highest point of the legendary happiness road. The pass was mainly built by Vietnamese minority peoples using simple tools like hammers, hoes, and shovels.
This is the best pass I ever conquered. It's called the King of Mountain Passes due to its sheer magnificence and the rugged landscape it traverses, offering not only jaw-dropping views but also heart pounding sensations when traversing high over the Nho Que River that is winding far below through a canyon so deep that it feels otherworldly.

Definitely worth to go to the Skywalk - it’s easier (and safer) on foot than by bike. Not too many people attempt it by bike given any wrong move with make you tumble about 1,500 meters down. To get to the infamous rock (or the top) you have to climb. It’s extremely hot there and not easily accessible. Especially when there are many tourists, paths are even narrower and a wrong move will result in certain death.

Excellent sceneries. The view of nho que river from Ma Pi Leng pass (800 M ) is awesome. Boating on NHO QUE river(120000 VND per person, 20000 VND per camera) is really worth.

Incredible view of mountains, amazing landscape and lovely local people. The far north region of Vietnam with beautiful mountain pass. It's gorgeous, the best scenery I've seen in Vietnam.
Chuong N — Google review
Ma Pi Leng Pass is definitely the most beautiful part of Ha Giang Loop, as the views are simply astonishing. Drive through the mountains and see the crystal blue lake way down below you. It is a sight that one will hardly ever forget!
Stephen — Google review
Ma Pi Leng Pass is the ultimate thrill ride in Vietnam's northern highlands—those hairpin turns hugging sheer cliffs with canyons plummeting thousands of feet below? It's like nature's own rollercoaster, dishing out jaw-dropping panoramas of layered mountains and the winding river far beneath. The wind in your face, the vast openness—it's raw, exhilarating, and a tad intimidating, but in the best way possible. I snagged my driver tour via Joytime, and it was a total win—the guy was a pro navigator with hilarious stories about local legends, making me feel super fortunate to conquer this beast without a hitch. If Ha Giang's on your itinerary, this pass is non-negotiable for that unforgettable rush!

Lung Cu Flag Point, perched atop Lung Cu Peak at over 1,400 meters above sea level, is a striking monument that stands 30 meters tall and proudly displays a large Vietnamese flag. This iconic site symbolizes the unity of Vietnam's 54 ethnic groups and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, including the winding Happiness Road below.
Amazing scenery with a great view of China and Vietnam. Its got toilets and shops if a drink is needed. Visiting is so worth it if you want one of the best views. Just be warned that there are quite a few steps to get up to the top.
Ollie J — Google review
Lung Cu Flag Point is slightly off the main route, but it is absolutely worth the detour. The journey itself offers stunning scenic views, making the drive enjoyable and memorable. Once you arrive, you have two options to reach the flag tower, either climb the steps or take a buggy ride for just 30,000 VND. I choose to climb the steps and enjoy the scenic. The panoramic views of northern Vietnam are truly beautiful. It's definitely a must-visit spot.
Sandeep A — Google review
One of the most majestic places I have ever been. The road to get there is like a snake. Besides, there are toilets and shops for tourists. 🤩🤩 I am proud to be Vietnamese and I like to climb to the top of Lung Cu Flag Tower because I can see the whole ground below and communicate with foreigners who come there 😁😁

Big red flag!!! ;) Climb up the stairs wasn’t too difficult, great view from the top. Can just about see China too! You can climb right to top where the flag pole is.

Quan Ba Heaven Gate, also known as Quan Ba Pass or Quan Ba Twin Mountains, is a must-see attraction in Ha Giang, Vietnam. Located about 45km from Ha Giang city, this scenic mountain pass offers stunning views of lush valleys and rice paddies as you ascend the steep switchback trail.
A breathtaking gateway to Hà Giang! Quản Bạ Heaven Gate is the first major viewpoint on the Hà Giang Loop, offering stunning panoramic views of the Tam Sơn valley and the famous Twin Mountains. The road leading here is steep and winding but well-paved, making the ride both thrilling and scenic. Located about 50 km from Hà Giang City, you can reach it by motorbike or car, following the QL4C road towards Đồng Văn. As you ascend, the air becomes cooler, and the lush green mountains stretch endlessly in every direction. Arriving at the top, the viewpoint provides a perfect spot to take in the breathtaking scenery and appreciate the start of Hà Giang’s dramatic landscapes. Stopping here is a must, not just for the view but also to experience the transition from the lower valleys to the rugged limestone peaks that define this incredible region.

Absolutely incredible experience of mountain and green. We stayed in a homestay. Food was incredible with vegetarian options & local wine available. The valley has a view of corn field, rice fields, water reservoirs. The homestay rooms were very well done, neat and clean with hot water provision. One can have a nice hot shower. There was also cultural program in the evening. A must visit.

Visited on last day of our 3 day ha giang loop, amazing views across 2 valleys. Also, obviously, coffee stops of either side of the road for your coconuts coffee needs ☕💪 Worth noting how incredibly busy it was on the other side of the viewpoint heading back to ha giang. The road is being repaired, there is gravel everywhere, buses, trucks, cars and 100s of motorbikes all meeting in narrow sections. See video for the carnage, all adds to the experience 😂 Apparently there was a large gate here erected by the French colonial rulers to keep the northern Vietnamese in their place. Lucky them having this amazing landscape and no invaders bothering them!

When exploring the culinary delights of Dong Van, one cannot miss the enchanting experience of indulging in Quán Bánh Thắng Dền Trôi Tàu Ngũ Sắc. This delightful treat is reminiscent of Hanoi's banh troi and Lang Son's Cong Phu cake, crafted from glutinous rice flour. Each small dough ball, slightly larger than a thumb tip, is boiled until it gracefully floats to the surface.

(Translated by Google) The ginger syrup is delicious, hot, and the cakes have many beautiful colors. The minus points are that the dough is sour, the cake is badly shaped, distorted, and the roasted beans are deflated and not crispy. I ate at another restaurant on Tran Phu and found it cheaper and more unique than this one. The cake is soft and smooth but not sticky, and the dough has a very special aroma. You should try it, I think it's number 46 Tran Phu. There's also a 10k bowl. (Original) Nước đường gừng ngon, nóng, bánh nhiều màu đẹp mắt. The menu boasts a delightful variety of options, including vegan and seafood pizzas that cater to diverse dietary preferences. Amazing place! The pizza was super tasty and fresh, and the atmosphere is really chill. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming, they made me feel at home right away. Definitely one of the best spots in Ha Giang – highly recommend if you’re looking for great food and good vibes!

this spot is decent. they dont have tabasco sauce but they do have their own chilli sauce which was kinda similar - had its spicy and sour elements this spot got minus a star for giving us the "western" menu despite being vietnamese we noticed the other table had fried chicken but our menu didnt. the waiter said the chicken is from outside. so we ordered our pizza and pasta. later another couple comes in and they order the fried chicken!!! we ask again to the waiter how they ordered the fried chicken to which they advised "oh you had the western menu, they ordered from the vietnamese menu" slightly infuriated we reviewed the menu, and literally the only difference between the viet and western menu was the addition of fried chicken! how is fried chicken not available for westerners? and what annoys me more was the fact we enquired about it to begin with and they told us it was from outside!!!!! long story short - if you want the fried chicken (and u dont see it on ur menu) just ask for the FULL MENU!

The food was very well made with nice portions. The pizza were the best, rolled or classic you can't go wrong! We add a little bit of company from a few friends, gecko and cockroach. If you don't mind that you good to go. The view is great, just make sure you get there before the sun sets, at night you can't see anything Overall very nice staff, they know English

Nice pizza place on the main street. They serve food quickly, have a cozy seating area, and the staff is very friendly. They also offer a couple of complimentary sauces for the pizza, including a local spicy one similar to Tabasco.

This is the best bar in town, it's run by a young husband and wife team. The food is great we had a pizza and curried chicken with rice. We had a great fun night here as this is the place were most of the people starting or finishing the loop hang out.

We really liked this place. Got three beers and three vodka sodas. (20k and 65k each) The beef noodles were SO good. Seriously amazing. Got pretty busy in there as well! Good fast service..

Super slow service. Not great food. Ordered 2 meals and 2 drinks. Got meal 1 after 15 mins. Got drink 2 after 25 mins. Got told drink 1 was not available after 30 mins, after finishing my meal. Got meal 2 after 30 mins, so that both of us ate alone. Pizza tasted super fake, something you’d get at a cafeteria in the middle of nowhere. Bolognese didn’t look or taste like there was any tomato involved. Peach smoothie is 100% fake, no real peaches involved, tastes a bit like medicine. They were out of Bacardi, and didn’t have the cookie smoothie either. The main staff member (who could speak English) realized how annoyed we were at the service and drinks, and gave us a tiny (5k discount) on a 215 ish bill.
