National library
Public library
The National Library of Republic of Belarus is a modern and uniquely designed library with a large collection of books. The building stands at over 73 meters high and has the shape of a rhombocuboctahedron, making it an impressive sight to behold. Visitors can take a panoramic elevator to one of the best observation platforms, where they can use binoculars with 30x magnification to view distant objects.
Although far from the city center, the library is an easy ride on the metro (even for someone who speaks no Belarusian, like me). It’s completely worth it, as around the back of the library you can pay to go up to the 35th floor to see the surrounding view of the city. Beautiful!!!
Alaina R — Google review
Very nice and beautiful place, recommend to visit to everyone who visits Minsk.
Nadia B — Google review
I would said nothing about place where is the library located . Because there is metro station just few hundred metres out. I wouldn't said nothing about how massive is the building . Because it's really big but looking nice ... Good luck !!
Serg P — Google review
Amazing visit to a cheap price. Great view of the city on a sunny Minsk day is incredible. Highly recommend

An icon of the city of Minsk! A must for all tourists, go to the 23 floor for the view.

The observation deck entrance is at the back side of the building. Paid some fee, climbed the lift. The deck is overlooking the city of Minsk. Very beautiful view from here. There's a cafe and rooms for art exhibition. At night, we waited to see the light spectacle. Beautiful illumination. It's worth the wait.

Museums
The Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War, established in 1944, is a significant World War II museum with 24 exhibit halls housed in an iconic building. It is located in central Minsk and holds national importance. The museum showcases the rich history of Belarus and features an impressive collection of art and cultural artifacts related to the war.
One of the highlights of Minsk. Great museum detailing the great patriotic war in the 1940's. War is bad but sadly nobody remembers it. Those who forget history are condemned to repeat the past.
Gunasegeran S — Google review
Must-visit place in Minsk! Unfortunately, there’s no information available in English, so you have to rely on a visual translation app, which somewhat ruins the experience. The park around the museum is beautiful - on a sunny day.
Manuela M — Google review
10/10!!! Love this museum, almost everything in English so you can easily understand the historical context. You are transported to scenes of the 2WW through tanks, artillery and mannequins that are super realistic. You should definitely visit! The hall with the names of the heroes is incredible beautiful with stained glasses. A huge congratulations to everyone that put together this incredible museum.
Taiani S — Google review
Exposition is quite interesting however the stuff is closing museum at 18:30 not at 19 so I lost 30 min from of my sightseeing. Workers are not friendly looks like they don't like visitors.
Robert P — Google review
A school parade was on close by, the patriotic music loud and the flags, held by each of the school kids, fluttering in the wind. A lovely backdrop on an excellent museum. The museum is new and expansive that takes the tourist through Belarus in the Second World War. There is everything from dioramas to weapons and even a few tanks. All material is in English and very extensive at that. The addition of an exhibit about “the raping of nanjing”, the Japanese army’s cruelty inflicted on the Japanese was brutal and fascinating.
David C — Google review
Amazing museum, so many stories and so many items. My eyes were watering. It really captures the struggle and sacrifice of the people of former Soviet Union against the Nazis, and why their descendants will never forget or put up with nazism ever again.
Spyros F — Google review
Dramatic but at the same time cool museum to visit. Such a must for kids and the young. Photos and videos are allowed though no one speaks English or even smiles a bit 🤔not very helpful staff
Ebru O — Google review
I have been to many war museums, and this was a unique experience. To see from the point of view of soldier's and civilians living in those times is humbling. The presentation of this museum is immaculate, and English speaker friendly.

This historic landmark is a must-visit attraction in Minsk, allowing tourists to immerse themselves in the country's cultural heritage. The theatre is located within walking distance of the Palace of the Republic, making it easily accessible for visitors exploring the city.
Went to see "The Grey Legend" with my wife. Was surprised that there were subtitles in Russian and English, which was absolutely fabulous. I'm no theater/opera expert, but this was the first time I've see light projections during a play- awesome. The acting and singing was superb. After the performance ovations took about 5 to 7 minutes. Everybody loved it, so did I.
Mantas N — Google review
Beautiful building and no queues during the break for coffee. It was smelling like toilet next to our seats and we had to be reseated somewhere else

Very small [in its sizes - both inside and outside] for such a significant and culturally important place. But there are very beautiful interiors and facade. It is also the single opera&ballet theatre in Belarus...

It was simply great! We had seats in the balcony zone, but the view was nice, the seats themselves were comfortable. The performance, and we attended a ballet performance, was fantastic, with bright costumes and good choreography.

The Island of Tears in Minsk is a solemn and poignant memorial dedicated to the fallen Belarusian soldiers who lost their lives in the Soviet-Afghan War. Situated on an artificial island, it features a chapel and a large bronze monument depicting grieving women around the chapel, symbolizing the families left behind by the soldiers. Accessible via a small footbridge, this tranquil site offers visitors an opportunity for reflection amidst serene gardens along the Svislach River.
Although it is a somber place, it is nice to sit and contemplate the view of the city. Worth a visit.

Very moving monument - quite intense to visit as then one can almost feel the emotions that the statues of widows, mothers, sisters and daughters transmit. Very important to remember that not all is glory in the death of a soldier - and to remember all he left behind.

Restaurant
Kamyanitsa Restaurant in Minsk offers a truly immersive Belarusian folk experience, where guests can enjoy traditional entertainment and authentic Slavic flavors. The restaurant's medieval-inspired decor and live performances create an engaging atmosphere, making diners feel like active participants in a cultural spectacle. Known for its typical Belarusian fare, Kamyanitsa has become a favorite among both tourists and locals.
Incredible homemade food, good portions, amazing service by Yulia, thank you :)

This place has nice atmosphere, great interior, service and good food. Prices are quite high however
Yury P — Google review
Staff are not as nice as described in other reviews. I said to several waiters I need to order but they see me a foreigner and don’t feel comfortable serving me because they don’t speak English. And when I told this waiter the third time she was raising her voice at me.🙄 I was starving and trying to get food. Instead bringing services to customers that’s their attitude….Even if the food is the best it wont counter the bad attitude and services I received from this female waiter, let alone their mushroom soup is salty…
Lexi L — Google review
Food is not that bad, still should be considered mediocre for the price. One star (not the Michelin one) for the personnel's attitude. Stylish design with slightly uncomfortable furniture. As they say, great boast, little roast.
Aleksei M — Google review
Welcome to the dungeons of Belarusian cuisine. With an axe and pitch fork as cutlery... I joke. The dark, traditional Belarusian setting is comfortable and warming. The food is hearty, rich and served by plate load. Service is good, the English skills of the staff is good for this part of the world. I enjoyed the atmosphere; locals were present drinking and singing. As a tourist, it gave me a taste of tradition. Something that is easily lost in our sensored world.
David C — Google review
An elegant restaurant at downtown Minsk. Quality of food and service was too good. Price was below my expectation. They were serving food with a heart welcoming smiling face and I just loved it.

Wine bar
Located in the Upper Town, Бар Svobody.4 is a hidden gem with a relaxed atmosphere and gentle background music. The bar offers a fusion of European cuisine with local flavors, such as their zapekanka breakfast pudding that melts in your mouth. With over 40 types of wine and a menu featuring Belarusian-inspired dishes, this spot is praised for its excellent service and unique food offerings. Guests can also enjoy musical events while savoring the diverse menu options.
Great breakfast and very nice staff who speak English and are very attentive. Eggs Bennedict were great, so was coffee and croissant. Only negative there is jo beer available for late diners. Not good if there are people in the group who don't drink wine or strong spirits. Should have that option.
D S — Google review
I love this place. It was the excellent on all fronts: service, comfort and most importantly food. The food was a modern taken on Belarusian classics. The dessert was one of the most memorable interesting I’ve had the pleasure to experience. A Latrice of fried potatoes with ice cream. The contrasts in sweet, sour texture and flavour blew my conventional mind. I finished my 4 courses and went for a fifth, a coffee. The understood what a flat white was and delivered it with the attention of a astute barista. Simply superb.

Incredible food and service. If you are an Australian breakfast guy like me you’ll love this place. Very high quality and unique dishes. Good vegetarian options. Awesome coffee and Belarusian inspired plates. Yum yum yum yum 😋

Simple place, few good options for brunch, good coffee, and nice music. It is a bit noisy though. Excellent service 👍 You can book in advance cause it gets busy 😊
Theodoros K — Google review
It's a great place to come and meet people who sometimes come alone or join a random group! Their music is on point and is usually played from a record player! It's a wonderful place to come and hangout to watch the sunset or people watch on the street. The prices a little high for the wine. I believe the cheapest glass of wine I found was around 10 BYN or roughly $5.00.

Were here with a friend on the early morning. We ordered what you can see on the picture: pancakes and waffles+2 cappuccinos. Firstly, what was a good surprise, waitress brought us a bottle of water. A nice compliment from the establishment. The food came in about 7minutes, just from the kitchen. Delicious, if you are a fan of sweet breakfast. This bar also has a good spirits menu, if you want to enjoy something stronger than coffee😉 Quite a unique interior, but unfortunately I don’t have a good picture of it. Good for a meeting with a friend or a small group of people. Would recommend to visit and will do so myself😊

Amazing service, the waiters are extremely polite and attentive, the atmosphere is very pleasant and relaxing. The food was good, served quickly, nicely cooked.

Nice and cozy place. The terrace is very quiet and you have the sun in the end of afternoon. Healthy food, with a nice menu, not many choices and this is good. Inside is clean and big. The tea was really good, with basil, very original. Wine prices are a little expensive, but like many places in Minsk.

Country food restaurant
Kuhmistr is a warm and relaxed restaurant located on Vulica Karla Marksa, featuring Belarusian and Lithuanian cuisine. The restaurant is housed in a rare gem of Constructivist architecture dating back to the 1930s, which was once a Komsomol cafeteria during the Soviet era. The name "Kuhmistr" originates from German and historically referred to the head of the royal kitchen in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
Very nice friendly and tasty dinner experience in Minsk. Very welcoming staff and beautiful big cozy restaurant. Wide selection of dishes offered in the menu and of good quality. They are part of the slow food movement to support local quality ingredients and local producers. It was my birthday and my partner asked them to bring me a cake with a little candle and they did that! How nice of them. We were both very full and happy afterwards. Definitely worth going!
Mari K — Google review
To say this is a wonderful restaurant, would be an understatement. It has a great location, easy to reach from downtown Minsk. The staff is super friendly and their menus are also with English descriptions. The prices are on the higher side but what you get is a very tasty, flavored dish which will make you want to come again. The interior design is also very nice and the traditional music was very well chosen. I will go back again for sure !
Razvan A — Google review
What a really great restaurant! The beef medallions wrapped in bacon with spinach mashed potatoes were fantastic. My wife really enjoyed the carp with potatoes as well. The homemade vodka sampler with kvass was very good, with their horseradish vodka being our favorite. Finally we finished everything up with their apple strudel. Plan ahead for dessert, as it takes 30 minutes to prepare. Definitely worth a visit while in Minsk. Also, they do take credit cards.
Brett C — Google review
Solid restaurant with hearty meals. Takes time to prepare but worth waiting for. Staff overall very friendly. Reasonable prices around 25 BYN for a main course. Simple standard, overall clean. Seems locals go here. Images depict cranberry pie, hot plate and the mascot fondling the christmas tree's balls.

Delicious Belarusian food in a casual atmosphere. The starters and meals are very large so good for groups. Had the Belarusian starter which was a plate of pickled vegetables and definitely get the draniki which were amazing. They infuse liquors in house and have a small tasting. Wine list is just okay (gato negro is on there twice) but they have really tasty local beers. They have live traditional music as well.
Tina R — Google review
A must if you are in Minsk, to enjoy local food and few types of vodka...take care not to mix them. Great atmosphere, amazing dishes, attentive service particulary from Yiulia which show us not only attention and proffesionalism but also empathy and huuuuge beautiful smile (very rare in Minsk). Tip: their draniki & sala - smoke lard, are the best

Stepping into the Grand Café in Minsk during the balmy July of 2020 felt like walking into a scene from a sophisticated, high-society film. Every element of my visit was drenched in elegance, from the artistically presented cuisine that was a feast for both the eyes and the palate, to the impeccable professionalism of the staff, who catered to every need with grace and finesse. The company I was in added layers of charm and allure to the experience, surrounded by top models whose presences were as captivating as the setting itself. The café, under the enchanting Belarusian summer sky, transformed into an oasis of pleasure and luxury, making it the epitome of dining excellence. There wasn’t a single falter in the experience; it was perfection personified. The Grand Café didn’t just serve food; it curated an unforgettable evening where gastronomy and glamour intertwined beautifully. I’ve shared pictures to try and capture the essence of that magical evening, though mere images can hardly do justice to the vivacity and elegance that the Grand Café exudes. For those who seek not just a meal, but an entrancing experience that tantalizes all senses, this venue is a jewel in Minsk’s crown, promising an evening as splendid as the company I was honored to enjoy it with.
