The Belarusian National Arts Museum is housed in a classical-style building and showcases an extensive collection of over 30,000 artworks, making it the largest museum in the country. Established in 1939, the museum's original collection was lost during the Great Patriotic War, with much of it still missing. The current collection primarily consists of donations from Russian museums and private collectors, along with some recovered artworks.
Loved the museum - it has fantastic collection of Belarusian and Russian art that covers different periods in history, large number of work was pillaged during WWII and now returned to the collection. I visited museum around Christmas time and had the opportunity to listen to a Choir Concert that was wonderful. Overall great museum, chance to discover lots of new interesting artists. My only complain is the lighting, it really needs adjustment as it leaves glare on the pictures making it harder to see the details.
Natalia O — Google review
Fantastic permanent collection spanning across many centuries. Highly recommend visiting when in Minsk. On par with a lot of European art museums.
Tanya B — Google review
Great museum in a lovely palace. Lots of paintings and soviet art from the most talented artists such as Shishkin and Alvazovsky. There are also works from european artists. Really a good experience.
Maximiliano S — Google review
A wonderful place to go to see some current exhibits. When I went, they had a new exhibit on the color red and how it relates to the Belarusian people. I found it interesting and the descriptions were well written. I have been several times and will continue to go back when they implement more exhibits as the rest of the museum doesn't change.
Dylan F — Google review
It wasn’t the food that inspired me on this short trip to Minsk, it was the artworks of one 19th century landscape painter, Ivan Aivazovsky. His piece “Night at Rodos Island” is sublime. The art works in this large gallery are expansive in period range and scale. There was an exhibit on horses and horse related art works that I found fascinating.
David C — Google review
Amazing collection of art, however the presentation and the lighting are horrible. Missing professional touch. Also, offers no discounts to kids and seniors. No elevator to the second floor.
Natasha L — Google review
Unfortunately big part of museum was closed for reconstruction when visited this place. But I still loved everything I saw and recommend everyone to visit this museum. I honestly can't wait to come back and still whole place. Entrance fee is only 6rubles which is approximately $3
Ryo C — Google review
Compared to similar museums in other countries this is not a very big one, but it holds an excellent exhibition (mostly of paintings and some sculptures) by some great artists. The entry costs only 6byn, so there is no reason of thinking it too much. It really worths a visit.

The Belarusian State Museum of Rural Architecture and Life is an open-air ethnographic museum that showcases reconstructed rural homes, traditional crafts, and costumes. Divided into three areas representing historical regions of Belarus, the museum features typical late 19th-century settlements with well-preserved interiors, household items, agricultural tools, and handicrafts. It aims to connect visitors to the country's rural roots and heritage despite modern advancements.
This is a really amazing place for locals and foreigners to go to. I was able to better understand rural Belarus better. I enjoyed that the museum was pretty much self guided. I was able to see a lot of variety in architecture, crafts, tools, etc. I can't recommend this place enough to people.
Dylan F — Google review
It is located out of Minsk, but you can go by Uber from Malinovka metro station (the last one on the blue line) and it's going to cost you around 6 roubles. The only issue if you go by Uber, is that on the way back you cannot order an Uber, because you can only order Uber in Minsk. Anyway, there is a bus station nearby that you can use to get back to the city. The museum is very interesting, it's like an old town and you can enter every house and explore how people many years ago live. I recommend it as a family trip on a beautiful weekend day.
Fabio G — Google review
Its a bit away from the city and few buses go there (totally doable but might have to wait a while till the bus comes). The place is beautiful and much to see. Its not a loop walk so it takes couple hrs to walk all the way to the end, and come back to the entrance. Bring water and stacks so you can take a break in between ;) Condition of buildings and houses were very good!
Hitomi N — Google review
One of the greatest places in Belarus if you want to dive deeper into a local culture. There are a lot of festivals and exhibition s in summer. Recommended to visit.
Michael S — Google review
The entrance is quite expensive, for a museum. But there are a lot of activities inside. All the houses and household items that you will see are authentic, all saved from a time long ago. The museum workers/curators offer a comprehensive experience by dressing up in costumes from centuries ago, telling stories and also sometimes carrying out local traditions (particularly on old pagan holidays) These people also tend to the gardens and fields there. You will find a couple of churches with unique depictions and artifacts. Overall, a day well spent.
Natasha K — Google review
Belarus as it used to be. When I look at these houses I remember my grandparents as they had exact same houses and the interior as well. A very good place to understand Belarusian culture and heritage better. Best with a guide
Tanya V — Google review
An excellent museum near the city was liked by everyone and even children

Museum of national architecture and life. Very original place. To those who interested in life and traditions of the Belarusian people, it will be very informative. Film crews are often visitors here. There is a bonus in the form of private airfield, an opportunity it will be entertaining to fans of light aircraft to spend time.

The Belarusian National History and Culture Museum in Minsk is a state museum that offers a diverse collection of artifacts and exhibits showcasing the rich history and culture of Belarus. Visitors can explore the country's turbulent past through various displays. The museum provides an insightful look into the heritage of Belarus, making it a must-visit attraction for those interested in delving into the nation's history. While some may find it chaotic, others appreciate its unique offerings, such as demonstrations of traditional paper-making techniques.
Small but nice museum with a few interesting pieces that is worth having a look at
Raphael N — Google review
This museum has a lot of great exhibits. We went when they had a lot of old books on display, including the first printing of the Belarusian Bible. I especially loved the traditional clothing and money exhibits.
Jamie P — Google review
Museum isn't very big, but has plenty of great exhibits.
Olga C — Google review
To start your tour it starts at the very beginning of human. It shows how man evolved Through Time from cooking Clothing they wore weapons. Tools they used.
Sykes S — Google review
Untidy but cozy place. Looks like a large house more than a museum.
Mehmet D — Google review
The museum was rather disappointing. While it has a lot of great artifacts on display, the curation of the exhibits could be improved. A self-guided tour would have been difficult had I already not known anything about Belarusian history. The museum staff was unhelpful, and some of them were outright rude to our family. The museum currently has an exhibit with a virtual reality component, but the staff almost religiously trys to keep you from using the VR gear, I guess to keep you from breaking it. Then as we waiting for a scheduled activity for children to start (which did not start on time), our kids got a bit rowdy, but not out of control (what do you expect from kids when they get impatient). One of the staff members came and told them to "stop running and breaking everything." We promptly left. Maybe on other days there are more friendly staff members on hand, but based on our experience, I would say that a visit to this museum is not worth the money it costs, and that it is not a place to take the family.

The Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War, established in 1944, is a significant World War II museum with 24 exhibit halls housed in an iconic building. It is located in central Minsk and holds national importance. The museum showcases the rich history of Belarus and features an impressive collection of art and cultural artifacts related to the war.
One of the highlights of Minsk. Great museum detailing the great patriotic war in the 1940's. War is bad but sadly nobody remembers it. Those who forget history are condemned to repeat the past.

Must-visit place in Minsk! Unfortunately, there’s no information available in English, so you have to rely on a visual translation app, which somewhat ruins the experience. The park around the museum is beautiful - on a sunny day.
Manuela M — Google review
10/10!!! Love this museum, almost everything in English so you can easily understand the historical context. You are transported to scenes of the 2WW through tanks, artillery and mannequins that are super realistic. You should definitely visit! The hall with the names of the heroes is incredible beautiful with stained glasses. A huge congratulations to everyone that put together this incredible museum.
Taiani S — Google review
The Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Minsk is impressive, well-maintained, and rich in historical content. It offers a comprehensive overview of the Soviet Union's—and especially Belarus’s—role during World War II. The exhibits are well-organized, with authentic artifacts, photographs, weapons, vehicles, and immersive reconstructions. The modern and multimedia setup makes the visit engaging even for those who aren’t history enthusiasts. It’s a place that moves you and makes you reflect, essential for understanding the country’s historical memory. Highly recommended
BiPolar J — Google review
Exposition is quite interesting however the stuff is closing museum at 18:30 not at 19 so I lost 30 min from of my sightseeing. Workers are not friendly looks like they don't like visitors.
Robert P — Google review
A school parade was on close by, the patriotic music loud and the flags, held by each of the school kids, fluttering in the wind. A lovely backdrop on an excellent museum. The museum is new and expansive that takes the tourist through Belarus in the Second World War. There is everything from dioramas to weapons and even a few tanks. All material is in English and very extensive at that. The addition of an exhibit about “the raping of nanjing”, the Japanese army’s cruelty inflicted on the Japanese was brutal and fascinating.
David C — Google review
Amazing museum, so many stories and so many items. My eyes were watering. It really captures the struggle and sacrifice of the people of former Soviet Union against the Nazis, and why their descendants will never forget or put up with nazism ever again.

The Beer Museum Alivaria, situated in a historic brewery dating back to 1864, provides an immersive experience delving into the brewing process and Minsk's history. The museum offers two guided tours: one focusing on the local and international brewing history, while the other introduces various beer styles, both culminating in a tasting session. Visitors can explore ancient brewing equipment and modern facilities during the tour. Additionally, they can enjoy unfiltered beer at a nearby restaurant recommended for its exceptional quality.
Very nice and interesting tour. I would recommend it when visiting Minsk. Try unfiltered beer in a restaurant next to the museum. One of the best in the world.
Aida K — Google review
I wouldn’t recommend for international/non-Russian speaking visitors unless you are in a big group (apparently), otherwise you’re walking around the place without really understanding what’s going on. Two stars for the beer that is included at the end of the excursion, but only one type and no real “tasting” and comparing experience.
Tim T — Google review
Not a good experience of the beers of this famous brewery. We were offered a sweetish lager and then an even sweeter raspberry beer licensed from Kronenbourg. If I did want to drink a sweet beer I wouldn't even do that in France. Why not give a small volume selection of 6 or 7 beers of the best this brewery has to offer based on Belarusian beers? And you can't even buy the beers. Why not have a special edition beer to buy at the excursion? Also no snacks were offered not even for purchase. Just seems like they are not trying. Could be far better. At 30 roubles very expensive for what was on offer.
Duke N — Google review
Interesting place, good variety of beers for tasting, but no shop to buy

Not the very best expo (though interesting!) but great service. Happy to have joined this excursion! :) mind to book English language in advance. Seen a Danish guy joined Russian speaking excursion; hoping he have enjoyed it! End of the excursion you get two pints of Grimbergen and Alivarya, drink responsibly :)

The Museum of Carriages, located at the former Bernardine Monastery, is a fascinating collection dedicated to the history of transportation in Belarus. It showcases various types of carriages including 4-seated convertibles, carts and chaises, as well as sleds and sleighs. Visitors can also explore the evolution of public transport in Minsk through a separate exhibit. The museum offers an interactive experience with touchscreens providing details and even a children's game related to the theme.
Small but decent. Tickets need to be bought at the nearby Archeology Museum. Interactive touchscreen with details and a nice children game in the theme of the museum...

Minsk City Hall, situated in the heart of Belarus' capital, is a must-see attraction showcasing the city's rich history and architectural splendor. This neoclassical building, constructed in the late 19th century, stands as a symbol of Minsk's proud heritage. Visitors can admire its grand facade and elegant columns. The area around it offers various attractions such as the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Freedom Square with the City Hall, Church of St. Joseph, and several museums.
In 1499 Minsk received the right for self-government, e.g. creation of local council, elections of the mayor. And city hall is a symbol of these rights. The original building was exploded in 19th century. However, was renovated in 2003. Nowadays no governmental bodies are located there. Instead, there is a small gallery, museum and a conference hall. In the park nearby you can purchase some souvenirs.

The House Museum of First Congress of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party is a small wooden cottage located in Minsk, with historical significance dating back to 1898. This museum marks the spot where delegates from various revolutionary Socialist organizations gathered with the aim of unifying under one party, ultimately contributing to the downfall of the Russian Empire. Despite most participants being swiftly arrested and the party being formed much later, this congress held great historical importance.

This is a nice small museum. A guide explained me about the exhibition and cinema in Belarus, that was super nice. Without it, I would totally have missed the point of the museum.

I was interested in visiting. Only one person spoke a little English. Basically not set up in the international language. Belarus as a whole does not appear interested in tourism. No international language signage in majority of public areas.
G L — Google review
This is not a museum. It is a collection of black and white photos on the third floor of a building, not one of which is captioned or explained. Somebody has dumped in front of the photos some pieces of paper with inscriptions in Russian which may or may not be explanations of the photos. It costs 3.5 Belarusian roubles to discover this.

Azgur was a prominent Belarusian artist known for creating over 1,000 sculptures, with 434 of them on display at the museum.
Amazing and unique small museum where you can see some of the sculptures made during the times and for the Soviet regime. The museum staff was helpful and displayed an extensive knowledge about the sculptures. Don't miss it, it is a one in a lifetime opportunity to be surrounded by Lenin(s) and Stalin(s).

Truly a remarkable museum for anyone interested in the Soviet Union or sculpture. Considering how far and wide his sculptures of Lenin were distributed he is arguable the most important sculpture of the 20th century. The tour guide was incredi bly well spoken and knowledgeable, but you will need Russian to understand. Can't recommend enough!

Nestled in the heart of the capital, the museum presents a thoughtful blend of historical artifacts, multimedia displays, and detailed narratives that bring Minsk’s rich heritage to life. Upon entering, I was welcomed by exhibits that traced the city’s development from a medieval settlement to the modern metropolis it is today. Each section of the museum is thoughtfully curated, showcasing the city’s resilience through periods of war, Soviet influence, and eventual independence. I was particularly moved by the displays dedicated to World War II, which highlighted Minsk’s significant suffering and bravery during Nazi occupation. Interactive installations and audio guides provided additional depth, making the visit not only educational but also deeply engaging. I also appreciated the personal stories of Minsk residents woven throughout the exhibits, which added a human touch to the historical timeline. The museum building itself is beautifully restored, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall experience. "Istoricheskaya Masterskaya" is a remarkable historical site that beautifully blends the past with the present. Housed in an ancient building, it boasts large windows that fill the space with natural light and features thoughtfully painted wall sections. Visitors can explore an engaging exhibition focused on war as depicted in world textbooks, guided by knowledgeable staff who are both friendly and welcoming.

(Translated by Google) A unique place where monuments of great sadness coexist with student dentistry. Historic workshop across the one-lane road from the old Jewish cemetery. All three points are located on the territory of the former ghetto. Inside you can ask to tell about the life position.

(Translated by Google) An ancient building with history and good repairs, it’s clear that it was done with love. Large windows (lots of light), cool, painted sections of the wall. There is a toilet, chairs, hangers, heaters. An interesting exhibition about war in world textbooks - informative stands and a good guide who knows how to work with the audience and really knows his stuff. Friendly and hospitable people. I definitely recommend visiting.
