Beautiful and clean the Place
Not crowded at all
it's a big one and a good place to stop by and rest in the mid of our road trip. however there were too many people in the line to pay and it took us extra long time here. toilets and outdoor playground available. the playground is a good idea to let the kids move around after a long time sitting in the car. good scenic view there too. more travel ideas, photos & videos👇🏾 follow me on ig: food.n.cats.not1less
2025.11.01 Sat Surrounded by beautiful mountains here. I bought some bear currys.. Too bad the restaurant has closed for the day.
(Translated by Google) (August 13, 2025) I stopped by during the Obon holiday. I occasionally stop by when traveling between the Tazawako area and Akita City or Shonai, so I was surprised to see it was much busier than usual. My main purpose that day was to take a restroom break and buy some souvenirs on my way from Tamagawa Onsen to Tsuruoka, but I was tempted by the large number of people eating soft-serve ice cream, so I bought one. I tried their signature sake lees soft serve, and it had a stronger sake lees flavor than I expected. Specialties sold at roadside stations and other places tend to have a distinct flavor, so I feel a sense of satisfaction after purchasing one. Apparently they've stopped selling the most conventional and inexpensive type of corn as souvenirs, so I bought some local sake corn. This one also has a unique flavor, so it makes a good souvenir. It's not too crowded on weekdays, so it's a great place to take a break. I'll probably go again someday and try the restaurant.
(Translated by Google) October 24, 2025 - First Visit I stopped off for a restroom break on my way to Shin-Kyowa Kartland. This roadside station is incredibly spacious. The parking lot is easy to park in, with regular cars on the right and large buses on the left. There's a large park in the back right, complete with plenty of playground equipment for children. The restrooms are clean and plentiful, so you don't have to worry about waiting in line. The local produce for sale was also very fresh, with a wide selection. I'd definitely like to stop by Kyowa Roadside Station again, in a fantastic location surrounded by mountains.
(Translated by Google) 20251008 On my way from Nyuto Onsen to the Oga Peninsula, I stopped off for a restroom break. The parking lot is long and spacious, and the entire facility is beautiful. There's a grassy area and a ground golf course behind it. Overall, it's a spacious, well-maintained, and pleasant roadside station. The merchandise section is filled with locally produced products, and I enjoyed the selection, which I've never seen in Kyushu. As expected, this roadside station also has a wide selection of sake, which is a testament to its rice-producing region. Of particular note is the rest area shown in the photo, which is open 24 hours a day. I've never seen this at any roadside station I've visited before. I'm from Kyushu, and I often spend the night in my car in various prefectures from Western Japan, so this is a very appreciated feature. Keep up the great work!

It's reasonably priced and delicious. You can grill it, but I recommend leaving it in the bag in a hot water bath at low temperature for a long time and eating it with wasabi soy sauce. It makes a great snack to go with your evening drink. My mother-in-law, who has dementia, also praised it for its tenderness and deliciousness. They also have fresh vegetables, smoked sardines (the cheapest at roadside stations along the line), and locusts in soy sauce. Even though I've been here many times, this was the first time I noticed the stuffed big rabbit (lol). There is a toilet on the large vehicle side. They seem to sell local products, but unfortunately I missed their opening hours. The toilets are open 24 hours a day. The lights are activated by a motion sensor. There is also a multi-purpose toilet. There is a covered walkway along the building from the small vehicle parking lot, which was very useful when it rained. One of my favourite shrine in Akita.
Shrine famous for safe birth and fertility. On top of that, it might also be one of the most beautiful shrines I've visited. It's not as gigantic but it's so serene and beautiful.
The history, location and gardens associated with this shrine make it a 'must' visit in Akita.
(Translated by Google) I stopped by the very famous Karamatsu Shrine in Daisen City. She is said to be the ``female guardian deity'' who protects women's lives, and is also affectionately known as ``Karamatsu-sama of the Boundary'' as the god of matchmaking, fertility, and safe childbirth. I visited early in the morning, and the atmosphere was very solemn and the cedar trees were very impressive. Mr. Chief Priest despite it being early in the morning? called out to me, and I was able to talk to them about various things. Apparently people came from all over the country to pray for children and safe childbirth, and there were many thank-you bells inside the shrine. I'm glad I was able to visit in such a solemn atmosphere. (Translated by Google) June 21, 2025 I visited the shrine on a motorcycle tour from Sendai. By chance, there was a joint exchange within the grounds between Akita University, Akita Prefecture, and the residents of the Karamatsu Shrine neighborhood, and I was very fortunate to be able to join in and listen to the story of the chief priest, who is a descendant of the Mononobe clan. Thank you very much. I was also able to receive two goshuin (written seals) from Karamatsu Shrine and Karamatsuyama Tenhi Shrine. The grounds are surrounded by a huge, divine cedar forest, and I was able to feel the history of the Mononobe clan that has been passed down since ancient times. The relationship between Karamatsu Shrine here in Akita, the Mononobe clan, and Nigihayahi is not recorded in the central historical books (Kojiki, Nihon Shoki, Sendai Kuji Hongi), but the existence of Karamatsu Shrine, where the descendants of the Mononobe clan who lost the battle with the Soga clan have fled to Akita and whose descendants have served as chief priests for generations, and the faith that continues to worship the ancestral deity Nigihayahi no Mikoto, certainly lived on in this land. It is a place where you can feel the depth of ancient Japanese history and is truly a worthwhile visit.

The main shrine, Amatsuhinomiya, is located in the center, surrounded by a pond, and exudes a truly mystical atmosphere. The location is Omagari Station, a JR station in Daisen City, Akita Prefecture. I used Omagari Station when I held the Sake Association Omagari in November last year, but I didn't notice it at all. When I thought about it, it was opened on December 29th of last year. If that's the case, then that's understandable. It's been a while since I've been to Omagari Station during the day. At night, it's decorated with firework-like illuminations and it's beautiful. When you think of Omagari, you think of fireworks. A monument shaped like a ball of fireworks is displayed. Please be sure to take photos when you visit! Although it didn't happen, the venue for the sixth game of the Ryuo match played by Sota Fujii was the former Hongo family residence in Kakumagawa, Daisen City. Later, they came to Akita and explored various sightseeing spots in Akita. Enter the premises, go up the stairs, and head to the facility. A large banner of Omagari fireworks is also displayed. In the aisle is a Brahma statue from the traditional event "Brahma Crossing the River" that will soon be held. Various other lanterns are also displayed. I am sorry that I am not sure what this lantern is. The sake server was installed inside the tourist information center ``Grand Port'' located inside Omagari Station. It's been a while since I've been here, but it has been completely renovated. The sake server was located at the back left of the facility. There are six breweries in Daisen City: Akita Seishu (2 breweries), Kinmon Akita Sake Brewery, Okuda Sake Brewery, Suzuki Sake Brewery, and Fukunotomo Sake Brewery, and each brewery carries recommended sake. (Translated by Google) I visited on the afternoon of New Year's Eve 2022 with my children who had no experience at ski resorts. It was a sunny day, so the mountain scenery was beautiful, and although I only came to go sledding and playing in the snow at the bottom, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The sled was rented for 500 yen. *I asked if I could ride the lift in a round trip, but it seems like it's a rule that you can't ride unless you have skis or a board attached (I guess that's true). The toilets and changing rooms were surprisingly warm, and they were thoroughly cleaned and very clean. The toilet was a little difficult to use as it uses foam instead of water to flush slowly, but it can't be helped for the sake of nature. However, if this is your first child, it may be confusing. It's been decades since I went to elementary school, and it's great for skiing with kids. Next time, I would like to rent ski wear and skis and let them have fun in the morning. (Translated by Google) It's a very large ski resort where you can do night skiing! The lower section is wide and loose, and the lift is slow and easy to descend, so I think it's suitable for beginners and families. It is also recommended for people who want to stop and slide slowly with friends. It is not suitable for people who want to ski hard alone. There are a lot of people and you have to get around, and the lifts are slow and you spend a lot of time riding them. The upper section is quite dangerous if you go too fast because it suddenly becomes narrow, tight, bumpy, and dark in places. However, even beginners and children can slide down from the top, so I think they can play widely and stay for a long time. Apparently Chuta Ito praised it, but I didn't really understand what was so great about it. Considering Chuta Ito's work, it is difficult for amateurs to understand. Most old shrines have their own surroundings, but the surrounding area is a plain rural landscape with rice fields and a prefectural road, and it has no charm at all.Why was a shrine with the finest technique admired by Chuta Ito built here? It is strange. In other words, it doesn't look great as a tourist spot. The main hall of Old Shio Shrine, which is a nationally important cultural property, is said to have been built by the lord of Kujaku Castle, Togashizaemon Taro Katsuie, in the late Muromachi period, in the first year of Genki (1570), by the master craftsman from Hida called Jinbei. The structure of the main hall is a one-ken shrine with a gabled structure, and is an eclectic style that freely combines Japanese style, Zen Buddhism style (Chinese style), and Daibutsu style (Tenjiku style), and is characterized by an extravagant architectural method with unusual designs added here and there. The chrysanthemum arabesque with rainbow-colored Mizuhiki beams on the front of the prayer hall and the wisteria arabesque pattern on the sides are rare masterpieces. In addition, the designs, such as the sashimi, which means a ``barrier'', on all sides, including the dankarado, the large toad mats, and the imitation jewels are said to be unprecedented. It was a shrine worth seeing. Especially recommended for lovers of old architecture and ancient history. Even though it was a Saturday afternoon, there wasn't a single other tourist besides me, and there were no guides at the nearest Omagari Station, so I'm not sure if it's even recognized as a tourist spot in the first place, but the main shrine here is located in Akita Prefecture. It is the first building in the prefecture to be designated as a national cultural property. Although it is a small building with only one room, it has a large roof, and the wooden structure and carvings that support the roof are elaborate and worth seeing. When viewed from the side, the roof appears to extend far back, but this is because there are walls on either side of the shrine. Overall, it's a style that I haven't seen much of anywhere else, and it's not that it's common in the area like Oki-zukuri or Nakayama-zukuri, but it arouses my interest (it's just that the shrine carpenters of the time were elaborate on their designs). (This may be a result of...) The location of Kushio Shrine is limited to the Hokuriku and Tohoku regions, and the enshrined deity, Ohiko-no-Mikoto, is said to be the god of protection to the north, subjugating Emishi. Unlike Shinmei Shrine and Tenmangu Shrine, which can be found anywhere in Japan, this shrine has a strong regional flavor. This place was founded in the Middle Ages, but nearby is the remains of a large-scale ancient castle fence (also the first nationally designated historical site in Akita Prefecture), and you can feel the history and beliefs unique to this region. Masu. There are probably not many people who visit Omagari for sightseeing except during the fireworks season, but Kakunodate, which is famous for its samurai residences, is 20 minutes away by conventional line (though the frequency of service is very small) and 10 minutes by Shinkansen. . Kakunodate doesn't have as many attractions as it is famous for, so I think it would be a good idea to do some sightseeing around here as well. (Translated by Google) Ancient castle fence historic site. Visited on July 14, 2019. Although the area that can be visited is quite large, the actual castle area is much larger. This gigantic work is undoubtedly proof that it was the work of the imperial court, which could not be achieved by local governments, but it is a phantom castle fence whose name is unknown, as there is no record of it in ancient documents. The Hotta fence was an elliptical fence measuring 1,370 meters from east to west and 780 meters from north to south, surrounding the hilly area called Shinzan and Nagamori, and was entirely surrounded by a wooden fence approximately 4 meters in height. The main hilly area on the inside was also surrounded by a wooden fence, with gates installed in the north, south, east, and west. In Nagamori, the main part, there are remains of a main road and a group of buildings that are thought to be government offices, and the construction technique is said to be in accordance with the Ritsuryo Kanga style. It is known from the growth rings of the fence that it was felled around 801, and it has been determined that it was the result of Sakanoue Tamuramaro's conquest campaign during the Kanmu period. I feel like that would leave some sort of record... Looking at the Wiki for the Genkei Rebellion of 878, we find that the name of the leader of the revolt was not revealed, which contradicts the theory that the revolt was quelled by the Kansei era led by Dewa Gon no Kami Yasunori Fujiwara, the Chinjufu General Harukaze Ono, and others. and the large eruption of Lake Towada Volcano, which should have caused unprecedented damage. Since there are no written records, it is believed that the area north of the Omonogawa River was actually under the Ezo's control in accordance with the Ezo's request, and that the Hotsuta fence, which is not included in the records of the central government, was a place used to entertain monitors from the central government. There seems to be a theory, and I thought it was interesting from an amateur's point of view. The site is so vast that it would take quite some time to explore every nook and cranny, but there are many things to see, such as the restored south gate and wooden fence, and the restored plan of the government building ruins. Why are there no records of such huge ruins? I'm curious as to whether this is the case. It is a good historical site where you can feel the mysteries of ancient times. The scenery is spacious and refreshing.

There is a plateau behind the restored gate, and it seems that there was once an ancient government office on this plateau. As you pass through the gate and climb the stone steps, you will find the ruins of an ancient government office on the plateau, and a spacious lawn square. The wide view of the Senboku Plain from here was wonderful. It was a place that made you want to stay for a long time, and some people brought chairs to relax. It looks like you can do some light hiking, and there are walking trails. Also, the museum seems to have bicycles for rent (the ruins are not paved and bicycles are not suitable, so maybe for walking outside the ruins?). Anyway, it's spacious and you can relax. It was appealing to be able to relax while feeling the romance of ancient mysteries. I found a favorite place on my first trip to Akita. The Hotta fence is an anonymous, unwritten, phantom castle fence that is not recorded in literature, but there is a theory that it is Ogatsu Castle or the Second Ogatsu Castle. The words ``Kokatsu Castle'' and ``Akita Castle'' were found on lacquer paper documents unearthed during the 151st survey of the Hotta fence site in 2017. Ogatsu Castle is thought to be Ogatsu Castle, which is recorded in the Shoku Nihongi as being built in 760. On the other hand, the square timbers used to construct the Hotta fence were measured using the tree-ring dating method, and were determined to have been felled in 801. Since the founding date in the documents is older than the time when the timber was cut down, it is impossible to use the Hotta fence as Ogatsu Castle. There is a theory that Ogatsu Castle was originally built in a different location and was moved to its current location. Of all the castle fences I visited, the scenery here was the best. The Hotta fence ruins are located in the central part of the Senboku Plain on the north side of the Yokote Basin. Seen from a distance, the hill where the government office once stood looked like a small island floating in a sea of rice fields. There were no tall buildings in the surrounding area, and the view from the top of the hill could be seen far into the distance. Some of the buildings from the time when the castle fence existed have been restored. If it weren't for that, it would be hard to believe that there was a time when so many people lived there. It was such a quiet and idyllic place. It is believed to have served as a political and military base and a place of ceremonies. In 1931, it was the first site in Akita Prefecture to be designated as a national historic site. The outer fence, made of timber (3.6m high, 30cm long and wide) stretches for a total of 3.6km, and the site covers a total area of about 87.8ha. Tree-ring research has revealed that the timber used in the construction was felled around 801, and the site is believed to have been built around that time. As there are no related articles in history books or ancient documents, the historical name has yet to be determined, and various theories have been proposed, including the Kawabefu theory and the Ogatsu Castle theory. There are still many mysteries surrounding this site. For that reason, we also have free bicycle rentals, so please take advantage of them. Look at the information signs and check the points of interest. Head to the main attraction, the South Gate of the Outer Fence. You will soon see the southern gate with a historic outer fence, but in front of it is a pink building. That's what "Dogosamo Door" is all about. It's such a surreal picture (lol) I took the opportunity to open the door in various ways, no matter how difficult it was. Personally, my favorite is the photo of the south gate of the outer fence, which I used as a frame. The name “Dogosademo Door” was clearly written on it (lol) After that, go through the south gate of the outer fence and enter the premises. Head toward the outer south gate and government office. However, the site is so vast that it is quite difficult to get there on foot. Fortunately, it was a good day, the wind was calm, and the spring sunlight was pleasant, so I was lucky that I was able to head slowly (*^^)v The east building imagines the lives of people at the time, and the outer south gate was overwhelmingly impressive. The view I saw from near the entrance of the main building after climbing the stairs was a really nice view, probably due to the weather. I was fascinated by it for a while. Although only the foundations of the pillars remain of the main office, you can still feel the weight of its history. There are other sights to see, but I couldn't visit them during my lunch break, so I gave up here (-_-;) The Dogosa Demo Door was installed until May 6th and is now gone, but the fence at Hotta is always alive and well. Please come and visit us!

The Nakano product store sells local ingredients at low prices, and I was surprised to find that a considerable amount of cod sprouts, which are expensive in the Kanto region, were being sold for around 200-300 yen. Furthermore, Babahera ice cream, which costs less than 400 yen if you buy it in the Kanto region, can be bought for less than 200 yen, as it is the authentic version.
