The Sanctuary of the Holy Trinity at Montagna Spaccata, located in Gaeta, is a place of extraordinary beauty and spirituality. The sanctuary is about a 10-minute walk from the nearest parking lot, located on Via Santissima Trinità. Admission is free, allowing everyone to explore this sacred place without additional costs. It is advisable to have coins available for a free offering for the maintenance of the sanctuary. An architectural masterpiece nestled between the rocks of the mountain, the sanctuary offers a breathtaking view of the sea and an atmosphere of peace and devotion. The vertical cracks in the rock, which give Montagna Spaccata its name, create a unique and evocative environment. Inside, the frescoes and works of sacred art tell stories of faith and miracles, transporting visitors on a spiritual journey through the centuries.
This place has a beautiful view of the ocean outside the window. The espresso is also great and the staff are very friendly and pleasant.
Great place for a walk with stunning views
Worth a visit. I recommend reading up on the history of the place online (a lot of info card are only in Italian), or you can use Google translate camera. Knowing the facts enriches the experience quite a bit.
A – path at the top of the gorge, on the roof. B – path at the bottom of the gorge, by the water.
It's a bit tricky to get to but worth it. According to legend, the Montagna Spaccata (cracked mountain) split in two at the moment of Christ's crucifixion.
A must if you are ever in Gaeta! Beautiful views and an incredible story behind it. If you are staying in Gaeta Medievale it is a worthwhile hike with amazing old ruins along the way. Make sure to take cash as it is free entry, but it is customary to leave an offering/donation.
what a place! as you follow this street down, you encounter some stairs, a path, rocks everywhere and you just going forwards to see what else is there for you to see! you find these imprints of some big hands on the wall where this Turk has opened the mountain and literally broken it as the legend says. you then encounter a little tiny church, a church maybe with 8-10 seats , so small but yet so cool to then walking up the stairs you find yourself located on top of this tiny church and you look down and all you see is blue! a blue so nice and clear but yet so deep to where it is completely incredible and a mesmerizing! completely suggest to go here to anyone if they can!!

Gaeta is a coastal city in central Italy, south of Rome. It's home to Monte Orlando Park, a protected area with Roman ruins, Mediterranean vegetation and dive sites. Inside the park, an 11th-century sanctuary sits on Montagna Spaccata, named for a wide split in the rock that plunges into the sea. A staircase leads to the nearby Grotta del Turco marine cave. Northwest is the Villa di Tiberio archaeological site.

Prettiest beach in the area. An absolute must see! Parking is complicated tho so I recommend going to a Lido or talking a shuttle. You will get fined if you don’t park correctly but it’s not too expensive. The Lido can be very expensive so I would check in advance
A huge thank you to the staff member Aida👍🏻 We visited Samarkand, and it was one of the most pleasant evenings thanks to Aida. She was incredibly attentive, caring, and professional. Everything was organized perfectly from taking the order to serving the food. You could truly feel her genuine hospitality. Thank you so much for such excellent service🔥 We will definitely come back again!
Absolutely beautiful beach! The water is crystal clear and such a vibrant blue! I could’ve stayed in it all day. The 300 steps are worth it for the view and the peaceful vibe. One of my favorite spots in Gaeta!
Beautiful beach, maybe the most beautiful in Lazio. I didn't count the steps on the way down but believe there might actually be 300. At least it felt that way coming back up. The water is gorgeous. The equipment is sufficient. Staff were professional and fast.
Beautiful beach, the water is often clear. If you walk on the far left you have some nice rocks (although you might find some nudists). In September the beach is not crowded and sunsets are great. A bit sad that you are required to pay an access fee of a few euros to use the stairs to reach the beach. Parking is tough to find. I recommend going outside of July and August.
Amazing nature, beautiful water and relaxed vibes. Best beach near Naples.
About 2.5 or 3 hours from Rome. Locates between sperlonga and city of Gaeta. I'm not sure how to get here by publich transpo, cause we came with a car but you can ride a train to the city of gaeta or sperlonga. As the name says, you need to walk down the 300 step stairs to reach the beach but it is worthit i say! Parking is available with a fee 13 euro, entrance is 2 euro per head, 5 euro for umbrella and beach bed. Beache closes at 7pm (19:00) It was a Very peaceful place, not much people and the water is very clean!
This is by far the most beautiful beach in the Sperlonga/Gaeta area. There is a dedicated parking area — I don’t recall the exact cost, but my girlfriend and I paid around €30. That included a sunbed and an umbrella. To reach the beach, you descend approximately 300 steps (I stopped counting after 280). The beach itself is stunning: soft golden sand, clear water, and a peaceful atmosphere. All in all, it was an unforgettable experience — highly recommended.

this is by far one of the best beaches. beautiful clear water! so refreshing, but not whatsoever cold. it’s amazing! you have this beautiful rock area on your left side and the beach full of sand and a nice view on the right. This beach is good to surf too when you have the right conditions with left waves punchy and ordered. The water is very clean and cool. Certainly a very Italian sea concept with the beaches that follow one another to the point of making it seem like they want to hide this beauty from non-paying people. This location is home to a vast beach with light sand and crystal clear water. Crowded in the summer period and enjoyable . There are also a few places where the beach is free and you don't have to pay, but it is more crowded there.
Gaeta is so amazing just for its natural attractions because for the other it’s not convenient come to visit this small town full of corruption, everything so expensive, the attitude of the peoples is so rude and no touristic attractions. Along the years this small town is changed so much as the tourism completely will stop for the future.
this is by far one of the best beaches, i have ever visited in my life!! it is one of the top of my list! Tons of lidi but you can find your way, at the begginging of the beach, the “free beach” where you can just lay your towel and just enjoy! we did just that. we parked our car, walked down and layed the towel. once that was done, all you do is dive right into this beautiful clear water! so refreshing, but not whatsoever cold. it’s amazing! you have this beautiful rock area on your left side and the beach full of sand and a nice view on the right! oh the best part about this, is when you go in the water, you have to walk a bit to be more deep cuz the water is so shallow - so you can enjoy your time in the water but also be not fully in yet!!
The best beach in Lazio for sure
Very good beach, in summer it could be very crowdy and the sea as well, but walk in winter there on a sunny day and you will be very pleased. This beach is good to surf too when you have the right conditions with left waves punchy and ordered. The water is very clean and cool, there are a lot of structure where to rent a chair or where to take a beer. The boardwalk is very beautiful.
Beach was very nice, wonderful sand. Water was perfect. Toilet available on site. ,20 euro shower. Bring your own umbrella and chair.Enter free beach from West of Cycas.

Great place for visit. Actually there are two places here. 1 is most popular, but 2 also remarkable near the see light. To reach the place take straight after main entrance, left side, go to small chapel, and on the left side there is stairway down. You will find another great place!
It will be open all the way down to the sea from August 15th, 2025
It is really nice but also very steep. Its basically going downhill and climbing up the hill again. The view is worth it. Its said jesus cry split the mountain.
It’s an amazing place but the fact you can only go 60 steps is a bit of a let down. Unless your in Gaeta it’s not worth the travel. I remember I went when I was a kid and being able to go the whole way down. So as you can see from my pic it’s just a rail and a bit of a view
Place is impressive but you should check opening times as it is closed couple of hours also during day time.
A very scenic spot indeed! Unfortunately, it was not possible to go all the way down due to seasonal closure.
it is a spectacular place, and the legend behind it is very interesting
Beautiful spot - bit of a shame I couldn't reach sea level. Would also be good to put some seating at the first terrace to enjoy the view a bit more comfortably.

The staff is so helpful and the facility is very well maintained
Beautiful beach, well kept and clean. Sirio has all the facilities you need. Only bad thing is like in all Italy. It's a money making exercise. Entry fee, lounger fee and shower fee. Come on guys get it together.
One of many beach resort facilities along Serapo beach. Prices are very reasonable for beach access with pitch including umbrella, 2 beds and a chair for around €23 for the day which is excellent value compared to other places we jave visited. There is parking available too but be quick!. They have a booking facility online but we couldnt get it working the day before we went. The cafe bar was not used on our visit but there are clean toilet and a small changing facilities availanle to all with small cabinette available for hire to have more space for changing.
Nice beach and clean restaurant. Just don't leave them anything worthy. There were issues with my rather expensive sun glasses disappearing from safety box and they were discovered from other box after we opened them all. 'A problem with the boxes they say', but sunglasses do not travel by themselves to their box.
All sunbeds in front of the sea reserved for 1-3 months by locals. This is a system in Italy but I mean WTF?!?? A spot almost by the toilets costs 25€. When trying to talk to the staff about all the empty sunbeds the staff just replied: OCCUPADO while obvi talking sh*t about me and ny husband with the locals ”owning” there sunbeds! And when I once again asked if we could use an empty spot I was called a disgusting word. An unpleasent experiance.
One of the best private beaches. Has all you need. Maybe a little bit expensive.
Quite a luxurious beach: broad, beautiful view, clean toilets.

Access to the church was closed, came here on Saturday at 16:30. The opening hours on Google are not correct (15:30-17:30). Luckily, you do not need to enter through the gates, you can get a beautiful view of Gaeta and the church through the side street at the top.
we never went inside but it is a stunning view when you climb to the top right by the church at the top of gaeta and the charming towns across the water. there are stairs on the left you can go up even when the main stairs are closed.
Iconic and imposing structure in Gaeta Old Town situated uphill. You will also see the panoramic view of Gaeta which is breathtaking. Unfortunately, the church was close during my visit. This place is worth to see.
A very beautiful church, and its position high above Gaeta makes it even more special. The Temple of St. Francis of Assisi has a peaceful atmosphere, and the view from up there naturally invites reflection and calm. A lovely place to visit and take a moment for yourself.
Very special! and the surprise of a beautiful wedding in progress….

Only used the beach. Nice location, clear water. Facilities and services available (not free of course). Playground and shaded area with grass rather than sand in some parts
can’t say enough good things about Bahia Blanca. This place is truly a gem — the beach is one of the most pristine and beautiful I’ve ever seen, with crystal-clear water, soft sand, and an incredibly peaceful vibe. We spent several days lounging by the sea, enjoying the setting sun and the gentle breeze coming off the water. But what truly sets Bahia Blanca apart is that we hosted part of our wedding here — and it was nothing short of magical. The team went above and beyond to create an unforgettable experience. The food was outstanding (especially the seafood!), the service was warm and attentive, and the ambiance — between the lush greenery and the sea just steps away — was surreal. Every detail felt thoughtful and elevated. It wasn’t just an event, it was a dream. If you’re looking for a beautiful day at the beach or planning a special occasion in Gaeta, this is the place. Bahia Blanca is a slice of heaven.
Beautiful place. The water is so clear and there is fish swimming right up to you. A little breezy when we went, but it was absolytely perfect. I recommend sitting on the grass and going down to the beach when you want a swim. Prices are reasonable.
Great spot. Beach is always clean. Lifeguards always on duty. Beds always available. Parking in the shade for cars too. Bar, restaurant and pizzeria available. Recommend to all
My own experience has been terrible, because the services were too twisted to be used and the staff was ambiguous. However, the location is wonderful, so I suggest to try another beach, (for example Ariana Garden).
Very good for summer. Restaurant may get a bit crowded. Beach is clean.
Great place to hang around with family and friends. Well recommended

It is a church by the sea of Gaeta. Unfortunately I couldn't visit inside, but a beautiful church should be visited if you come to Gaeta.
(Translated by Google) I haven't found any opening hours but outside the tourist season I believe it is normally closed to the public with the exception of mass times (currently 2 on Sunday and 2 on other days) and the transit of organized tourist groups. In 1321 it was decided to build a complex with a hospital, a convent and a church. This was opened in 1354 and the following year the hospital began its activity but two centuries later it hindered the construction of the new city walls wanted by Charles V. For this reason in 1536 the church was almost completely demolished, in 1621 it was rebuilt changing its orientation which became parallel to the walls, in 1700 the clock was added to the façade.

(Translated by Google) I spent the Easter weekend in Gaeta. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, both in the morning and in the afternoon, I tried to visit the church, as suggested by the tourist sites. I have always found the door strictly locked. At the umpteenth bounce, I perhaps naively asked a couple of natives for clarification. Among the embarrassed and resigned responses received, I was struck by the excuse "in this period S. Annunziata does not have its own parish priest". As if to allow a tourist to visit there was a need for a parish priest in vestments. Or as if, on the occasion of the passing of a pope (the good Francis passed away in recent days), St. Peter's closed its doors until the outcome of the next conclave. Ah, sad Gaeta, city of a hundred churches and as many locked doors! :-(

(Translated by Google) This church is known above all for the Golden Chapel in which Pius IX, who fled from Rome and took refuge in Gaeta, was inspired by the proclamation of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception in 1954. In the church you can admire two paintings by Luca Giordano and a polyptych in the presbytery, which has nothing to envy of the Spanish retables. Amazing restaurant!!!! Unique and delicious food! Plus a beautiful beach!
Lovely beach, on a very clean stretch in Gaeta. Prices are pretty much the same as everywhere in Gaeta, around €50-€60 for two chairs and an umbrella. Staff are helpful, although the kitchen/restaurant setup is super confusing to navigate if you’re not familiar with the place. However, with that said the food was delicious!

Excellent atmosphere, very friendly staff. The pistachio cheesecake is amazing! :)
extremely rude staff, one older guy especially. the restorant and umbrella air is the best on the whole beach but the whole experience was spoiled by rudeness...
Staff don’t speak English, at 9 am said that almost all umbrellas are occupied and offered only at the end of their area, however, almost all umbrellas were free and even during all day. Preferred another beach area nearby.
Not able to rate, greeted with no room without a reservation however, the restaurant was empty and when we walked by about 2 hours later still not full plenty was of room. Appeared staffed so not sure if that also complicated things. Not sure if because we did not speak Italian? Sad we could not try.
Fairly commercialised environment, it could be much better than that.

(Translated by Google) The owner is truly a terrible person. He clearly doesn't know the difference between being a true business owner (I'll provide you with services, that's the price, and if you don't agree, you can leave) and someone who's simply a money-grubber. After renting an umbrella for three days (at those prices, by the way... But it fits the concept above), I ask you if I can stay for half a day (until lunchtime) for half the full rate, and you tell me I can just leave. Well, then you have no idea how tourism and hospitality really work. Plus, your rude manner is truly embarrassing. But the latter was already clear even after the last day.
(Translated by Google) Beach and sea 10, owner 0. Most of the staff are rude and unfriendly, but then again, if the owner sets a bad example, the others will follow suit. Prices are now exorbitantly high throughout Gaeta, and the services offered are few and of a low standard; Selene is no exception. If you're looking for a place to spend a nice day with friends or family with children, forget it; here, the joy of living, the loud laughter, and children wanting to play on the beach with balls and beach rackets are not welcome. Just in case you offend the sensibilities of some wealthy customer selected from a very small circle and of questionable standing... (a word to the wise...) the owner will intervene and aggressively confiscate personal items (games like balls). Many years ago, the only thing that made you choose this beach resort over others was the space between one umbrella and another. Now, they've even conformed to the others in this regard, so given the costs, it's definitely not worth it! Absolutely not recommended, and the owner should realize it's a beach resort and act accordingly... but he clearly thinks he's a great person when in fact such a person is worthless! (Original) Spiaggia e mare 10, proprietario 0.

Wicked mausoleum of one of Caesar’s officers in very good condition.
Few things to see, some interesting informations. 3 euro entrance fee rather expensive, I find.
This monument is such a great historical heritage for Gaeta and has added a large amount of value to it. We're talking about a real glimpse of the past dating back to year 3 A.D. It is noteworthy to mention how this city's beautiful asset had been maintained and well taken care of. It is indeed a pleasure watching it inside and out. Maybe most people don't know, it's open for public every morning until 1PM and it's free of charge.
Loved the view of whole city up from here
Cool mausoleum. Too bad you can't get closer
(Translated by Google) The Mausoleum of Lucio Munazio Planco is a funerary building that stands on Mount Orlando, the mountain that overlooks the city of Gaeta, in Lazio. View of the interior with the copy of the original statue of Lucio Munazio Planco. Description The building was built at the behest of Lucius Munazio Plancus, a Roman soldier and politician of the Republic period. The construction, which is in an excellent state of conservation, dates back to 22 BC. and is perfectly circular in shape with a mound roof, which no longer exists today. Inside, the tomb is made up of four cells with barrel vaults accessible from a circular corridor (ambulatory) and arranged according to the 4 cardinal points. Nowadays, the cells house an antiquarium with finds from different historical periods and in the main one located in front of the entrance you can admire a copy of the original statue of Lucio Munazio Planco, currently in Rome. Above the door there is, still almost perfectly preserved, a dedicatory inscription included in a frame. The text is as follows: L. MUNATIUS L (ucii) F (ilius) L (ucii) N(epos) L(ucii) PRON(epos) PLANCUS CO(n)S(ul) CENS(or) IMP(erator) ITER(num) VII VIR EPULON(um) TRIUMP(hator) EX RAETIS AEDEM SATURN(i) FECIT DE MANIBIS AGROS DIVISIT IN ITALY BENEVENTI IN GALLIA COLONIAS DEDUXIT LUGUDUNUM ET RAURICAM or “Lucius Munatius Plancus, son of Lucius, nephew of Lucius, great-grandson of Lucius, consul, censor, emperor twice, septemvir of the epuloni, triumphant of the Raeti, built the temple of Saturn with the spoils, divided the fields in Italy at Benevento, founded the colonies of Lugduno (Lyon) and Raurica (in Gaul) Basel)”. An extraordinary experience! The history of the place is very important and represents an opportunity for reflection on the present time. The view is breathtaking. When you walk to the castle there are very interesting and easy paths to walk. I suggest you to visit the mountain ‘Spaccata’ and the Sanctuary of the SS. Trinity of Gaeta, you will find Father Daniel to welcome the pilgrims!
I recently visited Castel Angioino, and my impressions are mixed. Unfortunately, the castle is not in the best condition, but it clearly has a rich history. The guided tour lasts about an hour and is really interesting – an English-speaking guide costs €20, while a regular ticket is €10. The highlight for me was the stunning view of the city from the walls – definitely worth seeing! Overall, if you enjoy history and architecture, it’s worth a visit, but don’t expect any modern attractions.
Amazing journey through the history of this place! Our guide was very prepared and nice, the castle was really big and she showed us all the different parts of it that has been used since its building till 1990. Being there has made me really perceive how prisoners should have felt, and what have been history in Italy and its relationship with penitentiaries. Really cool. Then also the views are amazing on the gulf.
Awesome castle turned into a prison around the 19th century. Visitable only through a guided tour, where the guide was competent, clear, and entertaining all the way. Unmissable.
Surprising! We were not expecting such a wonderful visit. The guide was great and very clear giving an all new dimension to those walls. The view of the cost is just amazing. A must see!!!
A very cool experience with a lot of history. The tour is short and quite expensive (20 euro per person) BUT if you have the cash to spare I would highly recommend. The tour guides are well prepared and informed.
We had the most unexpectedly lovely trip to Castello Angioino today with our five young children ages 9, 7, 5, 3, and 1 largely due to our amazing tour guide, Stefano. He was engaging and knew what to teach the kids to keep them interested and asking questions, while also learning the history of the castle. The view from the top is spectacular, but it was the little tales on the tour that made this stop really stand out to us. I won’t spoil the surprises, but it was fascinating to hear about some of the prisoners and tales from the castles time as a prison. Highly recommend making this a stop if you’re in the Gaeta area! Much different from so many of the other castles we have visited and a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. Gaeta is a hidden gem!
It was a very interesting experience. You can park close to the castel. Be prepared that it is a guided tour and takes appx 40 mins.

Located in the center of the old city of Gaeta, it is one of the monuments not to be missed. Beautiful and charming as a whole. It is possible to see the old structure of the naves entering on the right and admire the old narrower form of the Church. The crypt is splendid, as are the columns, slightly ruined to have been covered during the second half of the 18th century, but intact and beautifully preserved. Excellent conservative restoration and not excessively devastating. Not to be missed. Excelente restauración conservadora y no excesivamente devastadora. Place full of spirituality, well located in a nice corner of Gaeta.
Nice and simple from inside.

Take it slow and easy - beautiful views to take in. Gorgeous day trip hiking
A really cool place to see some Roman ruins. Theres an old port that can be seen in the picture. A small beach to enjoy the water and the rocks is a hidden gem and almost always empty if you're looking for a quiet serene place for the day. If you walk up the trails to the top of the cliffs, more Roman Villas can be found along the coastline. A really cool places to relax and be immersed in a piece of history.
I read the nice comments about this place and decided to take my family there, unfortunately the place is dirty with poor care and the are no signs explaining the area and if there are they are so old you cannot even read them. The powder area were once restructured but now they are full of garbage and undergroth. Its a pitty such a beautiful place has become the rubbish area of everyone.
Lovely peaceful walking with great views. Just was the feral cats if you have a dog as they will attack if you get too close.
It's a lovely and quite place, along the Coast of Thyrrhenian Sea!
