Street named after the manga artist, with sculptures of his characters & projections at night.

You can see and take pictures with different types of yokai or yurei (monsters and ghosts of Japan). The road is about 800m, starting from the odekake station, many shops as well as statues or sculptures are displayed along the road. Near then end you will find Mr. Mizuki Shigeru museum, inside you can find his story as well as different original comics. What amazed me was...he was enlisted when he was around 21 to 24, his left hand was injured and amputated yet he was successful in drawing comics of yokai as well as war.
Amazing place to visit here. So quaint and a lot of little shops to check out. Not a lot of food establishments but the ones that are there are excellent. Definitely worth making the ride from the port
On Oct 5, 2024, my wife and I strolled along the road dotted with very small manga characters. I was very impressed with the character merchandising as it does attract tourists to come here. We didn’t buy or eat anything, having a feel of the environment was good enough for us.
Wonderful walk through the roughly eight blocks street lined with almost 200 bronze statues from life size to tiny all commemorating the manga characters of Shigeru. Even the shops have decor, food and souvenirs modeled after the characters. From the right site line, you can catch a glimpse of Mt. Daisen.
Went to the Manga museum of Mizuki Shigeru. English audio available on mobile phone. Recommend ear pods. ¥ 1 000, adult.
Lots of specialty and tourist shops plus cleaners but only few dining options. The mini statues by the renowned artist Mizuki Shigeru are AMAZING...
It's so dangerous for your wallet! I had a lot of fun doing the stamp rally while shopping, but I can see why this one activity can be just a one-time thing to do. The statues were really cool, if a bit smaller than I first imagined. I'd like to visit again and try out the postage option and a few other snacks
Most amazing street to visit off the cruise ship by shuttle 500 Yen into town wonderful little shops and the statues in the street were something else - ate at Miyabe Soba, bought a few trinkets and ate some lovely BBQ meat skewers and Octopus- a great afternoon topped off with strawberries on a stick

Since I did not know Ge Ge Ge before, I was not expecting a lot but by the end of my visit I was really glad I went. It is so nice to get to know about the artist, the characters and yokai in general. The visit is really worth it.
Even if you're not into manga art, you will like this museum. The story and artwork depicting his life story is interesting. The town is full of shops for food and souvenirs.
This museum was very cool! We didn't know the artist, or his background, but we still really enjoyed it. Grab a map at the beginning, so you can follow through his timeline.
On Oct 5, 2024, my wife and I walked past it without entering. We just made use of the toilet near it. And I spotted the cute designs on W/Cs.
It's a lovely place to learn about the life of Shigeru Mizuki. His devotion to document and expand Japan's folklore was enviable; everyone should be as driven as he was.
An extensive look at Mizuki's work from childhood to present. Most of the exhibit is in Japanese, but there is an English app, local WiFi and a movie with English subtitles. Also, Google translate worked well.
I did not know anything about Shigeru Mizuki before visiting. However, collecting all the stamps along the road and going through the museum not only made me appreciate the experience, but the life and story of Mr. Mizuki. He was an extremely talented artist, being able to expertly draw multiple art styles. He has funny quotes and has a quirky way to interject comedy that just works so well, despite it seeming like it's "out of place". Also, he has many quotes that are insightful and wise as well, which the museum shows amongst its pieces. Seeing his perspective of WW2 as well, and how harrowing it was for him and his unlikely survival was captivating, especially since many views from the Axis side aren't publicly shared. This visit made me buy 2 books, and I am excited to start Kitaro.
It's just a plan to full fill in my JR west sanyo-san in pass only, But but but... i surprise with this place so much, beside the main road from JR station to museum you will see more than hundred of model character on both side of the road, very funny to take a picture. if you love to collect stamper this town have a special book to collect the special stamper, very impressive
Eshima Ohashi Bridge

Bridge
Sights & Landmarks
Slide 1 of 8
The Eshima Ohashi Bridge, located between Tottori and Shimane prefectures in Japan, is widely known for its strikingly steep appearance in photographs. However, in reality, the gradient is not as extreme as it seems in those images. The illusion of steepness is achieved through the use of telephoto lenses, which compress the perspective and make the slopes appear more dramatic. This bridge has a total length of 1,700 meters, with a height of approximately 45 meters above the water level. The slope is 6.1% on the Matsue City side and 5.1% on the Sakaiminato City side. Despite its visual steepness, vehicles can ascend and descend the bridge without much effort, often not requiring the accelerator to be pressed. The bridge became famous due to its steep-slope appearance in a popular TV commercial. It was later compared to other steep bridges in Japan, such as the Sakai Suido Bridge, which is 709 meters long, 40 meters high, and has a slope of 7.25% on one side, and the Nakaumi Ohashi Bridge, which is 1,446 meters long, 45 meters high, with a 7% slope. The Namihaya Bridge in Osaka, measuring 1,740 meters with a height of 47 meters and a 6.9% slope, also shares a similar design. However, the visual impact of Eshima Ohashi Bridge remains unparalleled due to its prominence in media. Visiting the bridge provides a unique experience, but finding parking near the site for photography can be challenging. The design of the bridge, which connects to the Sea of Japan, is an impressive feat of modern engineering and resembles a rollercoaster ride when viewed from certain angles. Driving across it reveals that the ascent and descent are much smoother than they appear in photos. For those interested in capturing the iconic steep perspective, a telephoto lens and a tripod are recommended. The best spot for such photos is from the Daikon Island side, where the lens compression effect enhances the illusion of steepness. The overall experience of driving over and photographing this famous bridge leaves a lasting impression on visitors.
While photos of the Eshima Ohashi Bridge make it look incredibly steep and dramatic, seeing it in person is noticeably less overwhelming. Nevertheless, it attracts a fair number of tourists, and there are plenty of warning signs along the road to remind visitors to stay off the road. For the best photo opportunities, the area around the nearby FamilyMart offers the ideal vantage point. It's worth a visit if you're in the area, but temper your expectations if you're looking for something truly breathtaking.
While photos online makes the place look very steep, it actually isn't very steep. It takes a special camera and lens to get that effect. Nevertheless the bridge is still pretty high and has a decent view of both sides while you're driving across and back
On Oct 5, 2024, my wife and I came to the district to get the first-hand driving experience. Having driven up and down to the other side, I would let my wife drive the return trip. We concluded that the look was very different from the feel.
This is the famous “steedly-sloped” bridge. But actually it is not as steedly as in photos. To take same photo as its famous photos, may be you need a modern tele-lens camera because the further distance the more steedly this bridge looks. These are how u can take if you just use an iphone like me
The bridge is quite striking and its design challenges modern day engineering rules. It was hard to find parking that allows you to walk around and get a good photo but it looks like a rollercoaster ride from a good angle. The accent isn't as steep as it looks when you drive through. I recommend visiting this location if you have time.
is not as steep as "some" of the photos .... :). but the bridge is pretty high off the water.
Not recommended if you don’t have 700mm or above lenses camera. Even 200mm (the picture below) wasn’t enough

Beautiful tori. The shop on the left of shrine are selling a few special goods like omamori and ema
Well it has Yōkai. It’s free. I’m not sure if it’s a real shrine or just something for the manga but it delivers on being something neat.
A tiny shrine associated with Mizuki's story Kitaro. The entrance is interesting with the turnable eye. However, not much to discover other than that.
It's small but worth the stop of you are walking down Mizuki Shigeru Road. If the water starts flowing I'm the fountain the red eye starts spinning which is pretty cool. Make sure you get some water from the well and take a photo with the prepositioned photo stand when you visit!
Absolutely nothing to see or do there :) only a sanctuary and a large stone
It’s curious and cute but they could have made something much more interesting with the background the shrine has...
Really cool to see how they make the shrine yokai/mizuki themed

cool place to go very intertaining! i recommend it!
Actually, doesn't worth visiting. Only if you are passing this area by. Not that much figures of youkai's as well as not so much interesting and useful staff available at the shop. No activites or anything that you can experience, except for shoting game. So you should be able to boost your own emotions to create a pleasant experience there :)
A place that mainly sold souvenirs with some seats for taking a rest.
For the young Gegege fans
What can I say? It’s very cute. Recommended
Super cute and nice little spot if u are a big fan of kitaro
The souvenir variation is good. You can experience japanese old game in here.
It was very good to see famous manga!. I love it !

Sakaiminato Yume Minato Ferry Terminal – Gateway to Rural Japan’s Coastal Charm Sakaiminato Yume Minato Ferry Terminal is more than just a port — it’s a well-organized and welcoming gateway to some of the most authentic and undiscovered regions of Japan. Conveniently located next to Showa South Quay, it serves as a main hub for cruise ships docking along the Sea of Japan and acts as the launchpad for excursions into both Shimane and Tottori Prefectures. The terminal itself is clean, efficient, and traveler-friendly. Staff are helpful, signage is clear (with some English available), and there’s decent Wi-Fi access, making communication smooth even for international travelers. The waiting area is comfortable, and there are local souvenir shops and restrooms available. From the terminal, guests can easily connect to curated tours, guided experiences, and cultural encounters in the surrounding regions. What makes this terminal special is not just its function, but its location — perfectly placed between Shimane’s spiritual and craft-rich countryside (including places like Okuizumo and Matsue) and Tottori’s dramatic coastline and sand dunes. It’s ideal for travelers seeking to explore the lesser-known, rural side of Japan without the crowds. Whether you’re stepping off a cruise ship or setting out on a local ferry, Sakaiminato Yume Minato Terminal offers a smooth transition into some of the most beautiful, cultural, and nature-rich areas Japan has to offer. Tip: If you’re joining an excursion from here, don’t miss the chance to meet local guides who offer in-depth storytelling and immersive activities like knife-making, soba workshops, or sake tasting — a perfect introduction to the soul of the San’in region.
Really nice waterfront, but not really much to see. You can see mini mount fuji, rent bikes, walk the waterfront, buy some souveniers, use the washroom, take a pi of the ship...
Not a review of ongoing Aquarium exhibition. A simple view tower that comes with several cultural exhibits from surrounding countries. And it seems like you can reenter so for 300 yen it has a very high cost performance compared to other famous towers
This is a review for the temporary exhibits that happen in this location. We have visited this location many times and several years back my review would have been much better. However, for a while now all the special exhibits we've visited there and particularly the ones with live animals are simply depressing to look at. The current marine animals exhibit is clearly a hastily put together exhibit with no educational or even aesthetic value. The animals, sharks, a sea turtle and others were in super small enclosures (smaller even than past exhibits) with barely any space to move. Several fish were dead inside their tanks and the illuminated exhibits were just odd. Overall the price of nearly 5000 yen was not worth it. In fact, I think that it is best to not support such events.
This place was really nice! Probably would have been better if I was on a date though. Haha I am a foreigner and I was able to get a discount when I showed my passport. Normal price is ¥300 and the discounted price was half off. On a clear day, you can see Mount Daisen from the tower. You can also make a keychain with your name on it. The instructions were in Japanese but with a little google translate, most anything is possible.
The view is great only on the side facing Miho Bay. The observatory floor is very small, and the area underneath looks like an industrial area...
Well worth the trip. Beautiful views, great exhibitions on the 3rd floor and a fun little market on the ground floor.

Worst tourist information center. If I could put zero stars I would. Zero knowledge of the place. We ordered the sashimi set , sashimi rice and daily limited set. The sashimi is yummy and fresh . The daily limited set is worth trying as it is really cheap and a great variety of sashimi.
The worst salmon-don (lunch) I had in the last decade in Japan; salmon not fresh, with fishy taste and wrong texture, especially for those restaurant by seafood market this quality is not acceptable. Other seafood-don at average quality.
Maybe I didn’t come on the right season. So the crab was frozen crab. And, somehow I think they keep the frozen carb with other dry seafood. So It smell kind the odd. If you come on September maybe will need to avoid carb.
I like crab, that's why I hated the dressing of the crab meat on かにトロ丼. It spoiled the natural sweetness of crab but tasted very artificial. We have tried other seafood rice and grilled eel rice, they were good but I expected better as it was so close to fish market after all. Do not recommend かにトロしゅうまい as it was just a tiny bit of crab meat on top of a paste with unknown ingredients.
We loved this place, excellent food, crab is lovely and tasty. Price can be a little bit high, so be prepared and highly recommended for crab lovers. Table service is excellent, and both fish and seafood are very fresh and tasty!
Sashimi sets were all subpar and customer service was even worse. Really regret taking the taxi driver’s recommendation.

Good spot for sailing
(Translated by Google) Used for camping. Check in and pay at the ferry-style marina reception. The wind from the sea is quite strong, so it's better to use long pegs for tarps and tents. The ground is a little loose, so the pegs don't work as well. The fee is also very cheap at just over 1,000 yen for 24 hours. The site areas are small, so you need to be careful when setting up your tent and tarp. You can also make a bonfire, so some people enjoy solo camping. The toilets aren't super clean, but they are usable. Of course, they are flushable. There are no Western-style toilets at the moment. If the weather is good, you can see Mt. Daisen in the distance, which is great. You can also enjoy fishing nearby. Another attractive feature is that you can enjoy a variety of fish depending on the season. Recommended for camping in Sakaiminato City!

Very cheap only 100yen would highly recommend this place loads of different stuffed fish.
A really unique and interesting experience. Only ¥100 for foreigners. Looking the giant Great White in the eyes as you walked through the door made my skin crawl!
We can see a big molamola's fish here
My friend and I are foreigners and we showed our passports and got in for ¥100 each! You can spend about 20-30 min inside depending on your speed. There weren’t so many things translated in English for us but there were some interactive little things that were fun. There were a LOT of taxiderm-ied(?) sea creatures inside so if that freaks you out, I might avoid this area. The hanging pufferfish gave me some goosebumps, but other than that, it was fun to marvel at the size of some of the creatures.
Interesting place to see the type of fishes catching by Japanese fish men
Models of many fish species, especially sharks. Great place for divers, fishermen, and kids.

Small but convenient airport. Just 15min driving from Sakaiminato. Remember to buy the souvenirs before you enter the customs, there were only one gift shop after entered the customs while those gift are not related to Yonago. There is also no restaurants after entered the customs, so please remember to complete everything before enter the customs. The airport is very small that you can go from airline counter to security check in 2 minutes walk, and only 30 sec walks from the customs to the waiting hall for departure.
There is nothing to eat in the duty-free area after security check. The best place to eat is at the 7-Eleven on the first floor. Security checks are done on time for each flight, so you don't have to wait long.
The airport is really small, which has pros and cons. Pros: Very straightforward, after check-in they tell you at what time the security checks start and if you are early you can check some of the few souvenir stores and restaurants on the second floor or the 7/11 on the first floor. Cons: Security checks and immigration staff is limited so you might wait a while. Also since the airport is small there is limited transportation options to the center. There is a bus and a train, but when I arrived in had to wait almost 1 hour for the next train and for the return flight I had no choice but to arrive two hours prior to departure as the next bus would have been hours later.
Petite airport ! Not too many shops! Fast immigration check!
First time be in Yonago Kitaro Airport. The airport is very convenient and baggage claim is also very good and there are buses that go directly to Matsue.
It's a small, well-maintained airport with friendly people. Kitaro characters are everywhere, and even the stained glass on the airport ceiling is cute! The only drawback is that there is a smoking room at the departure gate (even though it has a door), so you have to breathe secondhand smoke while waiting to board. That's why 4 stars.
Small airport that is easy to get around. It has one domestic flight to Tokyo Haneda and two international routes, to Hong Kong and Seoul. Access by public transportation is not good but has both bus and train to nearby cities.
