Echizen Coast stretches in the west side of Fukui Prefecture from Tsuruga in the south all the way to Sakai city in Mikuni region in the north. Being designated as a national park this beautiful coastal view is much beloved by visitors nationwide. You would come across some rare type of rock formation along the road which runs right next to the water. There is a cape called Echizen Misaki in which you can see narcissus grow in mass. Their flower season comes in winter between December and March. To get the best view of this cape you can go up on the hill side along the road. Up in the north is a place where the water flowing out from Kuzuryu River. the land formation of this area is sticking out in a shape of a Japanese letter of く into Japan Sea. This long stretch of a saw-toothed coastline would surely fascinate your eyes on your visit. The part starting from a point where route 204 connects to route 8 is the beginning of Shiokaze Line which goes all the way toward north until a point the road joins to route 305. (Translated by Google) 2024.6.27 I drove near the sea (Isabi Kaido) and went a little farther to visit. The destination is the left and right fishing ports. The waves of the Sea of Japan are surging, and behind them are dizzying and severe cliffs. Because I saw a video like that. There are dead ends on both the right and left, and it is said that it was named left and right (so) because of the topography. However, daffodils bloom on top of the 100m cliff, and peregrine falcons build nests on the cliff. It's a great place for wary birds. From spring to early summer, when the weather is calm, he goes on a raft to pick seaweed. There is a decision to leave the stock and allow new buds to appear. If there is a lot of seaweed, fish and shellfish will also gather there. A fishing port that has inherited the wisdom of its predecessors, and the satisfaction rate was 100% ✌ (Original) 2024.6.27 海の近くを走って(漁火街道)一寸遠出して訪れました。

(Translated by Google) Descendants of brave adventurers The scenery is amazing. Driving along the coastal road is comfortable. To the east is the vast and beautiful Sea of Japan. There are many places where there are steep cliffs on the west side, where you can sometimes see ferries and container ships sailing, but there are waterfalls scattered about. There are many shops nearby that sell seafood, especially Echizen crab. Many inns and shops are no longer open. There are also bathing facilities scattered throughout the area. When I drive here, I feel like I'm boiling over. Simply put, I'm excited. It seems that our Japanese ancestors came from across the ocean from places like Taiwan. It seems that they risked their lives to cross the river, having been repeatedly blocked by the Kuroshio Current using unskilled navigational techniques and a simple structure. When they see an island across the ocean, they can't help but cross the ocean and wonder, "What's over there? What kind of world is there?" The Japanese are a group of people with extraordinary curiosity, energy, and a sense of adventure. It seems to be one of the ancestors of Out of an instinct to preserve life, there are many who think, ``Crossing the black sea is terrifying. It's okay to stay as is.'' However, there are people who dare to make the decision and take action to cross the waves. The Japanese are descendants of outrageous adventurers. I come from a rural area, and I grew up hearing that ``Japanese people are an agricultural people.'' However, I thought that if all Japanese people were descendants of agricultural people, they would be able to accomplish this much. In a university lecture, he said, ``When Japanese people see an island across the ocean, they feel strongly that they want to cross there. Peninsular people (people living on the Korean peninsula) hardly think of such things. When I heard that the Han Chinese (mainland people) of northern China avoided going into the water as a barbarian thing, I felt a jolt in my knees. That's why Japanese people are so active. That's why Japanese people like to go abroad. I was convinced. When I came to the Echizen coast, I felt a surge of emotion and thought, ``Ah, my ancestors must have come from Taiwan with these same thoughts.'' I feel very happy when I realize that I am the descendant of these incredible adventurers. Very interesting also for foreigners, maybe bring a translator so with you. The museum offers a walk through different stages of the sea level, it showes a variety of fish and ofcourse crabs. you can walk underneath a big water rounding and see fish swimming above your head. It is also very good for kids offers a lot of fun games and information.
Nice little museum right beside the crab market about the crabs for which the place is so popular, the history of the fishery, and with a little interactive area at the end where kids can put their drawings up onto a screen, and play some small games. There's also a 10min short film that plays every 20-30min. Everything is in Japanese so be prepared to use your imagination.
A nice and out of the norm museum. Very well maintained place. Very good place for the family. There a game with big screen to test out your boating skills for crabbing 🦀.
Interesting place where they explain the whole process of crabs and the different types of crabs.
This was a fun little museum with enough activities to keep my six-year-old daughter entertained for a couple of hours. A little out of the way, but a good place to go if you like to get off the beaten track. And the prices of the crabs in the shop next door were eyewatering.
Echizen Crab Museum is located right across the road from Road Station of Echizen Coast. In this museum you can see a large variety of marine creatures live in this area. Each show room has its own theme built in a property space of 300 square meters. The facility was built in 2016. You are also able to enjoy hands on trial of operating a ship for hunting crabs. Admission fee is 500 yen for adults and 300 yen for children. When you just entered the course there is a ramp way spiraling down the hall with a miniature of traditional townscape of Echizen Coast where fishermen live. The ramp way leads you all the way into the depth of the ocean bed where Echizen crabs live at the bottom. ( TGM Japan Guide : Trans-word+ )
A simple but interesting exhibit. The underwater tunnel was very cool. Though I believe the museum is more for children. Still was good fun.

There is an observation deck up on the top of the hill overlooking a beach. This hill is known as a colony of Echizen Suisen ( Daffodil ) bloom in winter ( from late February to mid-March ). The place is called " Land of Suisen ". This spot is designated as one of the most beautiful 100 spots to observe sunset in Japan. There is a winding path paved with stones around the hill near the top with facilities open to public. If you ever come to visit this area between late March and late May do not miss to check the calendar for their night illumination event. There is a monumental light house shedding a soft beam of light around the hill. It was built here in 1954 as a landmark. I think it would be fun to find your favorite one.

Originally it was a concert hall, but it was well displayed and sold on the spot, making it easy to see and understand. It was fun to be able to enjoy coffee in my favorite cup and have a ceramic speaker. As expected, the nursing room in the photo is also neat. (Translated by Google) I went there after stopping by Daffodil House on Sunday, March 10, 2024. Cape Echizen Lighthouse is one of the main navigational aids in Fukui Prefecture, and is 16m high. It is a historic lighthouse that was first lit in 1940. You cannot go inside the lighthouse. The weather was nice on this day, and I was able to see the sea very clearly (^^) There were a lot of daffodils in bloom, and the best time to see them is around February. If you go further up from this lighthouse, there is an observation deck, but the slope is steep, so I went there by car. I want to come see the sunset next time (^^) (Original)
(Translated by Google) Approximately 16m high, first built in 1940. The current building is the second generation of the white lighthouse built on a small hill. The surrounding area is well maintained and has the atmosphere of a tourist lighthouse. Visibility is good and you can see the sea at the same time. The first generation was said to have stood near a cliff, and the staff built and managed a field on the premises. Later, an investigation revealed that it was unmanned due to automatic lighting and that the ground was weak, so a second generation was built a little closer to the road in 2008. The first generation lens is on display at the nearby Daffodil Hall. If you deviate from Route 305 and go up the hill, you will find it along the road. The slope of the slope is quite steep, so it can be a little tough in winter. Free parking available. I think the second parking lot, which is a little bit uphill after the lighthouse, is close and easy to use.

Small lighthouse and not much to see (in September at least). I think there are a daffodil like flower that blooms other times)
(Translated by Google) I visited at the end of May on a sunny day. It is a strange feeling that the sun is strong and hot but the wind is strong and cold. As you go up the long steep slope, you will see the lighthouse and a little further on there is a parking lot. There's a QR code somewhere where you can get a digital lighthouse card, so don't forget if you're collecting them. Come to think of it, I received a real card at the Narcissus House next door, but what the heck? Surrounded by a beech forest, the fallen leaves are spread thicker than a carpet, and the indescribably comfortable feel and the sound of the sound as you step on it washes away your soul! (Translated by Google) I climbed it because it is one of the five Echizen mountains. Although it was a sunny day, the mountain trail was shaded by trees and cool, and the path was well maintained, making the climb very comfortable. Along the way, there was a parting road between the forest road and the old road, so I chose the old road for the climb and the forest road for the descent. The Tokko water was trickling, but it didn't dry up, and it cooled down my flushed body a little. Ochi Shrine is also well-maintained, and Okunoin is at the top of the mountain. Although it was only a short distance, I passed a few people along the way, and even though it was a low mountain, I was told not to underestimate it. The Echizen Gozan consists of Mt. Hakusan, Mt. Hino, Mt. Monju, Mt. Yoshinogadake, and Mt. Ochi, and is said to have been founded by Taicho Daishi. I took a wrong turn on the way, but I think it took about three hours to get from the community center at the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain. From the forest road, you enter an old mountain trail, and there are stone Buddhas along the way, giving it the feel of an ancient trail. There is a resting place with a stone Buddha along the way, and if you go down from the resting place, you will find a water hole called ``Dokukosui''.
