Absolutely wonderful. The exhibitions are clear and educative. The castle itself was mesmerising. The lift and ramps are available for people with mobility issues. The tickets can be brought separately with audioguide.

In Old town with a castle along the Elbe River with plenty to do over a weekend. The Marktplatz itself is not large, but a good size for the smaller town. It still manages to capture the charm and history of early Germany. It never appears overcrowded like Venice, but isn't the size of Dresden either. A lot of places to eat, drink, see and the Altstadt is mostly restricted to pedestrians and bicycles. If you want the larger crowds here come during the Wein Fest or Christmas Market. It's possible to efficiently communicate in English, people are helpful and friendly. The oldest porcelain factory in Europe is located here in Meissen, so it's offering thematical shops and museums. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed my tour for about 75 minutes, I could have stayed longer. The place was serene, calm, and I didn't feel as if I was in a hurry. The porcelain arts and crafts was noteworthy and beautiful. The exhibition on at the time of my visit was the presentation of life in the 1950s. Definitely a recommendation if you have the time and you live around Dresden, Coswig, Leipzig, or Riesa.
