A really lovely and modern building, which feels very light and airy. Our tour guide was excellent, providing great facts and stories. Well worth the visit, which is a 30 minute train ride from Dresden, and then a 10 minute walk from the train station. Tip: The cafe was surprisingly good! You have the option of indoor or outdoor seating.
If you are in Meissen, you need to visit this museum. They have huge collection and you will be amazed with the giant porcelain pieces. Tour was also fun, you go to different rooms to learn about modeling, sculpting, painting etc. We spent good two good hours there.
Meissen and porcelain are like synonyms. So why not visit nice Meißen porcelain museum. If you want to know more, there are guided tours. More information, it all depends what you want. Museum can visit without guide. And of course is there shop, from where you can buy to yorself beautiful porcelain products. Near the factory is parking area.
The presentation is a little bit lacking, but otherwise is ok and the museum is amazing. The porcelains came from very different periods and this is why so beauty the collection. Good work for presentation and the kahle is the best.
The Meissen porcelain manufactory is a very interesting place for those who love beautiful tableware, beautiful trinkets and are interested in crafts. You can go to the store and the museum at any time when the manufactory is open. But I strongly recommend purchasing tickets with a demonstration of the production process; it is better to buy them in advance for a tour in a language suitable for you. However, there is an English audioguide, it allows you to take advantage of the German excursion. I advise to visit a local cafe, where you will have the opportunity to dine on original Meissen porcelain. As a compliment we get there especial cookies with manufacture symbol.
Every time I come here I get ammazed what a beauty lies in the porcelain. Never get tired of this, though the entrance fee is not a cheapest one (EUR 10,-/p.p.)
Perfect place for people who have too much money on the account :) Large collection of porcelain and the tour explaining the process of making porcelain is definitely worth visiting.
Jaw dropping, beautiful. The tour showing you how they make and decorate the pottery if fascinating

Beautiful castle, well labeled rooms. The Histopad for tours was just OK. You end up looking at the screen instead of the beautiful reality right in front of you.
This place is incredible an absolutely stunning castle on the... I was lucky enough to be performing there as part of the magical music of Harry Potter Orchestra tour 👊🎶 and the town itself is absolutely gorgeous. Enjoy. I can recommend staying at goldenesfass guest house and spa. X the deatheater
Absolutely wonderful. The exhibitions are clear and educative. The castle itself was mesmerising. The lift and ramps are available for people with mobility issues. The tickets can be brought separately with audioguide.
Very well taken care of castle. Audio guide or visual tablet guide available. I chose the english audio guide but i couldn’t get the third floor codes to work. Lots to look at— the church itself has a separate price for entrance so make sure to buy both at once. Lockers provided with pfant. There are trails to walk around the exterior too which I recommend. Also lots of cool things to look at in town :)
Beautifully maintained. Interesting layout with living areas, working areas and local history / architecture display.
Audio tour or devices were available in the castle section to learn about the history in your language. Highly recommend it.
The most beautiful castle with gorgeous interiors, paintings and architecture. The castle, dom and town are exceed the expectations.
Cool to see the old building and wander the tour. I wish they had more artifacts in the castle.

A stunning cathedral with a rich German history. We really enjoyed our visit. It is 6 euros to enter, but worth the visit.
Meissen Cathedral sure worth a visit. You have to pay a little to enter, but in this case it is justified: in the cathedral situated also a museum with interesting relics, as well as the tomb of the Saxon rulers with detailed explanations, including English. I advise to climb to the cathedral by feet through the old town, you will be rewarded with amazing views and interesting objects. The observation deck of the cathedral itself is also a must-see
Fantastic cathedral. Entry has a small charge. However it is well worth it. It's a great and interesting cathedral and also has a wonderful small museum. There are joint tickets for this the castle and porcelain factory if you are going to do them all.
A mediaval marvel rising above the elne river . This cathedral was built next to the castle of altrecht. The. Church has been expanded several times to grow to its present size really worth the visit. The second wife of William of orange prince of the Netherlands named anna of saxony who was declarered insane lived is buried here as well after she was sent back to her home country
Astonishing cathedral with a rich history and beautiful relics. Costs 4 euro to enter. Quiet and almost spooky due to the old imagery and ancient history. Highly recommend to visit while in meissen. Bathrooms are hidden so ask if needed.
Blissful. Quite. Beauty. Have to visit this place for it's beautiful Hill top location and a city which contributes to the most produced high end porcelain items.
Last entrance is at 16. Beware. The cathedral is great, but we got denied entry because we needed to somehow telepathically learn that on this day the cathedral is open for visitors only till 16 instead of 18. We bought a ticket for what is free in other cities, so we expected better conditions
Very nice Cathedral. Definitely recommend the 2€ guided tour to the bell tower. You can climb very high and the view is amazing.

We visited this lovely market as part of our Viking River Cruise’s excursion in the Christmas market season! This cute and tiny Christmas market is located in the old town of the city of Meissen. We also had our lunch here in one or the restaurant. You can’t get more Germane than this. Meissen is known for their porcelain production. But the old town which was not bombed during the World War II that have many historical building are so unique and beautiful. This marketplace have many are just like that.!
In Old town with a castle along the Elbe River with plenty to do over a weekend. The Marktplatz itself is not large, but a good size for the smaller town. It still manages to capture the charm and history of early Germany. It never appears overcrowded like Venice, but isn't the size of Dresden either. A lot of places to eat, drink, see and the Altstadt is mostly restricted to pedestrians and bicycles. If you want the larger crowds here come during the Wein Fest or Christmas Market. Meissen also has Albrechtsburg Castle, the porcelain factory and a good stop if on the Elbe bicycling trail.
This old market square is quite picturesque. With a lot of cafés and patios around, it would be best to visit during the warmer days.
We visited Meissen for the Christmas Market. It was amazing. Really cozy market square. They do a really good job with their Christmas Market. Lots of food and drink. People just enjoying the season. We had a blast.
Meißen's Marktplatz is a charming historic square, though it lacks diverse dining options. However, it truly comes alive during the Christmas season with a magical market atmosphere. Worth visiting for its festive spirit and beautiful surroundings!
Very beautiful tiny city with a very charming castle. Highly recommended for a weekend city break. Multiple hotels guesthouses, restaurants, cafés - and still, this city does not give an impression of a crowded place or a typical touristic destination (seems this city is not that widely known abroad as vast majority of tourists here are Germans). It's possible to efficiently communicate in English, people are helpful and friendly. The oldest porcelain factory in Europe is located here in Meissen, so it's offering thematical shops and museums. Highly recommended.
There are several good restaurants. Three traditional German and two Italian.
Lovely architecture, nice shops.

Beautiful church, what can I say, it's worth To Go a walk and see churches in this city.
Church dates back to the early 13th century. It was first mentioned in 1205. After the devastating city fires, a new building was erected between 1450 and 1520. Its Gothic exterior is far more interesting than its interior which is relatively modest. The biggest attraction of the building is its tower. To be able to get to it, you need to get a key and pay a fee (ask at the information booth inside the church). The panoramic view from the tower over the city is spectacular. Almost at the top of the tower is the apartment where the tower guard lived. It was built in 1549 when the tower was rebuilt. Meissen's first tower keeper (Turmer) took up his duties at that time. In the summer of 1907, Julius Schmiedecke was the last tower keeper to leave the tower. The tower apartment includes the kitchen, a living room and a chamber.
A very pretty, charming and small gothic style church. If you're on your way to the castle stop in for a peek - it's free.
Secret tip: You can climb up the tower and have the best view over Meißen from up there.
Great views from Tower. Only €2.50
Best view of Meisen town from the top!

Impressive museum located right on the first square. Must visit their incredible collection of porcelain at the third floor.
I believe it should be the first stop before venturing out to visit other sites. The museum 🖼️ is filled with history and gives you a glimpse into what the city of Meißen was in the past; even the porcelain-rich history. I enjoyed my tour for about 75 minutes, I could have stayed longer. The place was serene, calm, and I didn't feel as if I was in a hurry. The porcelain arts and crafts was noteworthy and beautiful. The exhibition on at the time of my visit was the presentation of life in the 1950s. Definitely a recommendation if you have the time and you live around Dresden, Coswig, Leipzig, or Riesa.
Interesting collection of important local artefacts presented in an old church. Especial nod off respect to the themed rooms from various eras and the impressive ratsweinpresse. There lots to see but the interpretation is difficult for the non German speaker.
Very informative and a huge collection of porcelain art.

(Translated by Google) The Meissen City Museum presents itself as a discreet treasure trove of local history—or rather, as a place where porcelain, wine, and hat collections await the curious eye. In some display cases, the 19th century still seems to be insisting on making its presence felt, while the more recent exhibits act as if they had never been freshly renovated. Those who come here briefly believe they are walking through a dust-free old building—minus the dust. A lesson in museum art: preserving, presenting, and yet remaining casual. Nice place, with many kind of animals, wild animals
Quite good zoo. BUT, most of the people said. Runs for most animals should be bigger. Im taking about owls, parrots and all birds. Specially owls got small cages. They cannot even fly in it. For people, you should pour some stones on the road or put solid brick. Walking in mud it's not comfortable.
(Translated by Google) Wonderful even in the rain. Were there today...you can spend time in the woods with all kinds of animals. The animals are obviously fine, just a little wet from the rain. A lot needs to be done; Meißen as a city should not only make the necessary financial contribution. Very nice zoo owners...had a quick chat.
(Translated by Google) I found the zoo to be very cute, very natural, which also has its charm. It's a lot of work to maintain such a zoo and if there are really only two owners, it's very difficult. Nevertheless, I liked it very much. I thought the price was okay (completely normal). There is or at least used to be a barbecue area and a snack bar. The zoo has potential. There was also a lot to discover from the small decorative elements and I had fun. I will definitely come again (Original) Ich fand den Tierpark ganz niedlich, sehr naturbelassen was auch seinen Scharm hat.

Now spring is here and with it the desire for hikes, beer gardens, visits to the park or a visit to the zoo. We recommend the private Siebeneichen zoo in Meißen - small but with a lot of animals. Time passes quickly when you look at it. The tour is always great fun. I really enjoy spending two hours here at longer intervals. The free parking space is certainly partly included in the entrance fee of 5 euros. The lovingly designed playground is very nice for children. A snack is also offered. I miss a public toilet though. I would also like to see price reductions for pensioners, severely disabled people and accompanying persons at a private zoo.

Very fast and easy to ask the right advisor. Helpful coworkers and clean place. Would recommend day offer for all families who would like to visit.
Not friendly staff, when my family drive us here for relaxing the receptionist is so rude even we are customers (seems she discriminate the Asian customers, feel not respectful). Not recommended!!!
In general it is a good swimming pool, it has very nice warm water, great atmosphere. However, I didn't like the stuff. A man that works there, told me that "I could have asked him if I am allowed to take the noodle to swim in the big pool". Bruh, I already paid for the entrance, that's why I expect being allowed to take that one poor noodle that lays in the corner. Also the swimming pool had really weird people in there. One man took off his underwear to slide.... 🤢 kids don't wait until other people are done on the slide. They jump right after you, even if it shows red light and the crowd of 10 kids land right on your head. Showers don't have any doors, so who wants some privacy – you not gonna find it there. Toilets had a lot of paper laying on the floor. I think that it's a good swimming pool but it's not calm at all. You can't have any calm swimming or relaxing. You will be attacked by kids, teenagers playing a ball, somebody is gonna take off his underwear to slide or it's gonna be sb from the stuff who tells you what to do 🤪
Staff were very helpful, before during and at the end of our visit. Changing rooms weren't spot let it it was the end of the day. Toilets were nice and clean. Good selection of pools including waves and a hot salt/spa pool. Some inside and some out and a long slide. Prices seemed reasonable and only an additional €1 per half hour over your original purchase.
Good facility for families, the main swimming pool is little bit small. Great for the kids.
Great for every age. Good prices, nice pools, perfect day
My favourite sauna, love peelings and Aufguss here.

(Translated by Google) About three weeks ago, we visited the Hofcafe Meißen again. Whenever we're near Meißen, there's no way around it. We always look forward to the warm welcome and the pleasant atmosphere. From almost the very beginning, we've witnessed how the Hofcafe & Hoftheater has developed so well. So today we'd like to say thank you to the landlady, Mrs. Jeanette Ender, and her husband, the "Principal," for the wonderful times we've spent at the Hofcafe, whether it was coffee with freshly baked cakes, the delicious regional wine, attending an event (e.g., "The Christmas Goose Auguste"), or the lovingly filled picnic basket that frames the "most beautiful view of the vineyards" of Meißen. We're already looking forward to our next visit. (Translated by Google) An interesting place for lovers of church architecture. The interior is rather simple. The building itself is a blend of Gothic and Baroque styles. The ribbed vault above the choir and the Baroque vault in the nave are worth seeing. Also worth seeing are the St. Martin's Altar and the Owl Organ. The pulpit and the carved altar by Valentin Otte from 1660 are particularly detailed. (Original) Interessanter Ort für Liebhaber von Kirchenbauten. Das Innere ist eher schlicht. Das Bauwerk selbst ist eine Mischung aus Gotik und Barock. Sehenswert ist das Kreuzrippengewölbe über dem Chor und das barocke Gewölbe im Hauptschiff. Ebenso der Martinsaltar und die Euleorgel. Besonders detailliert ist die Kanzel und der Schnitzaltar von Valentin Otte aus den Jahre 1660.
(Translated by Google) In 929, the Saxon Duke and East Franconian King Henry the Vogler founded Misni Castle next door after he had conquered Gana Castle and subdued the Daleminci. Since then we can speak of the Burgberg, but not yet of the Afraberg. Between the two lies the ravine, over which the castle bridge has spanned since around 1250. Since 968, there has been a diocese chapel on the castle hill for the high ladies and gentlemen of the Reichsburg. Here, on what later became Afraberg, the “Burgmannen” settled with their families and the first Romanesque parish church was built for them and the residents around them. In 1064, the legendary Roman martyr Afra was canonized. And in 1066 the legendary Benno became Bishop of Meissen! Did he have a soft spot for Afra? In any case, many things in Meißen have been named after her since then, first of all the old Burgmannenkirche. From 1205 it belonged to the Augustinian monastery. Today's Gothic church was built in the 13th - 15th centuries at the same time as the Gothic cathedral, which replaced the old Romanesque basilica. The respective bishop was certainly able to use synergy effects. After the Augustinian monastery was secularized, Duke Moritz founded the princely school there in 1543 and the Afrakirche became Evangelical Lutheran. Today the "Ev.-Luth. Kirchgemeinde St. Afra Meißen" looks after a larger area on the left bank of the Elbe with several churches and cemeteries. There are interesting gravestones on the "God's Sack" next to the church. And I realize that burials actually still happen here, but probably only in exceptional cases. The crematorium's website also mentions eight Meissen cemeteries, including this one. In the church there are a number of very interesting gravestones and epitaphs with figurative language. The von Schleinitz noble family from Markmeißn had themselves “immortalized” here. Every now and then I realize how much Christianity has influenced the area for centuries, especially here on the Afraberg today. There are also nice examples in the city museum on Heinrichsplatz. In addition to the Augustinians, there were also Franciscans, Benedictine Scottish monks and Benedictine nuns who also lived according to the Cistercian rule (Holy Cross Monastery). Romantic paths lead to the Afraberg. So many picturesque motifs. Many people live in the city center who have a passion for history and beauty. Just fine, and thank you. A few more days until August 7th. The memorial day of St. Afra of Augsburg, martyr, prostitute and patron saint (Protestant and Catholic) - according to Wikipedia. The first half of summer is over. So viele malerische Motive. In particular, or above all, the gravestones of the beautiful Junker. Some time later, after the burial, he had it excavated again and decided that this very sight should serve as a template for his gravestone. What a unique idea against your own vanity.
(Translated by Google) The late Romanesque basilica was built after the founding of the abbey. The nave received a Gothic vault with five bays in 1470. After a lightning strike in 1766, the church tower received a Baroque cap. The church features an early Baroque portal with two sculptures: Moses with the Tablets of the Law and the Apostle Paul with a sword. The interior boasts some stunning artistic works, and I was particularly fascinated by the relief panels. A place worth seeing for lovers of sacred art.

We bought 11 bottles of wine here on a busy Saturday during lockdown. The range of Sachsen wines was incredible and we went home with all new varieties to try. The owner was incredibly friendly and kind despite the long line of people waiting to get gluhwein. It was the happiest spot in town and doing a great job keeping spirits lifted!
Wonderful place with great local wine and lovely outside space - both in front of the shop and in the back garden which has its own vines. The atmosphere is unbeatable, friendly service and you might be accompanied by a local cat (which we loved). Highly recommended, you can enjoy a glass or two and also buy a whole bottle of outstanding Riesling to take home.
Great wine and a nice vibe.
Nice people watching location in the front. Owner very nice, with a good selection of wines. Olives were tasty, cheese was kind of so-so. Would go again, anyways. Nice vibe on this corner of the city. Garten was too wet to enjoy, but looked very pleasant.
Excellent Wine and finger-food in a very beautiful spot to soak up the atmosphere of the historic streets of Meißen.
Hands down best wine selection in town and a cozy atmosphere. Very nice cats come by occasionally.

I came to Meissen for a day trip and was greeted very warmly by Elsa, who was very nice to talk to, and gave me many good recommendations on what I should do during my stay! They also carry maps in many languages free of charge. Thanks again to Elsa and the rest of the staff for their help and recommendations!
What a beautiful place. Lots of history.
Meissen is a very beautiful tiny city with cute castle. Highly recommended for a weekend city break. Multiple hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, cafés - and still, this city does not give an impression of a crowded place or a typical touristic destination (seems this city is not that widely known abroad as vast majority of tourists here are Germans). It's possible to efficiently communicate in English, people are helpful and friendly. The oldest porcelain factory in Europe is located here in Meissen, so it's offering thematical shops and museums. Tourists information is opened every day, even on Sundays. It offers free maps and possibility to buy some local products and memorabilia/souvenirs. Highly recommended.
Good information. Maps available for free.
Good information deck.
