We recently visited here specifically for a night paranormal investigation. We really enjoyed it. The guides were fantastic. Got to learn about history and some of the paranormal happenings within the village. The village was clean and felt very welcoming. Parking on site too.
We were so fortunate to host our son's wedding at the village. Wendy is truly the kindest person and so accommodating. She helped make the day a fairy tale. She was incredibly helpful in guiding us in terms of permits we needed, suggestions and answered all my many many questions. She allowed us to decorate the village and was on hand the day of to help handle any issues that arose - which there were none. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this beautiful location for any important celebration. Thank you Wendy for helping us create magical memories my son, daughter-in-law and and our friends and family will remember
I’ve visited Kawartha Settlers’ Village a few times now, and every experience has been wonderful. My first visit was over a year ago with my aunt, and I was blown away by the amazing history this place has to offer. The volunteers are so knowledgeable and passionate, it’s clear how much they love sharing the stories and heritage of the village. Kawartha Settlers’ Village is generally open seasonally from May 1 to September 30, offering visitors the chance to explore the beautifully preserved buildings and learn about the area’s rich pioneer history. One of the most magical times to visit is during the Festival of Lights, for one weekend in November, the entire village is beautifully decorated and brought to life with lights, and displays that will amaze people of all ages. It’s truly something you don’t want to miss. Pass for event: (November 14-16, 2025 Festival Pass: $15 per person (come and go as you please) Free admission for children 12 and under! (Prices might be different) What makes Kawartha Settlers’ Village more special is that it’s mostly run by donations and dedicated volunteers. Every person who contributes, whether through time, money, or simply by visiting is helping to preserve a truly amazing place and support a wonderful community. If you’re looking to bring your family together or rediscover the true meaning of Christmas, this is the perfect place. Walking through the village feels like stepping back in time, surrounded by a warm and welcoming community of people who pour their hearts into keeping history alive. Kawartha Settlers’ Village is a beautiful and inspiring place to visit, one that I’ll definitely keep coming back to. Pictures from old to newest (2025)
Great place to visit in Kawartha Lakes if you’re into history and artifacts. It’s a quiet little village filled with an old school, fire hall, houses and other cool spots. Lots of historical facts are provided throughout the visit as well.
It's a really interesting and neat place to explore. Great for all ages. Sometimes there is a teacher at the school who teaches you about how the kids were taught back in the day
Attended the Craft Beer and Food Festival. Already looking forward to next year. So many great local vendors - tried some new food spots. Friendly event staff and so many beer/cider choices. $2 drink tokens were great!
It was an enlightening experience. We had the privilege of going when the blacksmith was working. Got to learn about some amazing metalworking and an upcoming Christmas ornament project! I find the entire village is very knowledgeable while maintaining the true history. I've been coming here since I was little and I'll be sure to visit again when I can!
A fantastic place to visit to learn about the history of Bobcaygeon. I also enjoyed the trail.

Pretty town for a day trip in the summer. Clean, waterways, boating area and some historical sights to visit in the town itself. Grab town’s famous Kawartha Ice Cream and enjoy going for a stroll in this lovely town.
Another beautiful lock and park area. The staff were friendly and patient. Really cool experience going through the locks. Loved visiting Bobcaygeon, made me feel like part of the song.
staff is super friendly and you may refill your tap water for your houseboat here. we spent two nights here(go and return), there is a little beach where kids love swimming there and water is warm. the adults did paddling upstream and the water is peaceful and the view is gorgeous. definitely will be back next year.
Bobcaygeon lock is a super cool place to go through and come ashore. Shops line the Waterway so there's lots to see and do. Staff at the lock seemed overwhelmed with zero communication with any vessels entering the lock, causing multiple vessels yelling at each other to see who was going where/ which side. This was disappointing to witness. We requested camping in the lower side so e could carry on our journey long before the lock opened. We were directed to the point of the island with the absolute worst takeout and a space to camp smaller than our 2p tent footprint. Only after making do with just airpads and lots of bugspray, were we informed we could have gone around and come up to the park from the ramp. Note, always ask the same question to more than 1 lock staff member as not every one will know camping protocols. Despite the setbacks, id say Bobcaygeon is a great lock to visit and experience at least once.
A gem in Kawartha lakes. Beautiful landscapes and tasty local restaurants make this small town a outstanding destination in central Ontario. Recommend to visit in summer than winter.
Line up at the blue line in your boat, wait for the green light, get in the canal and then it takes about 5 min for the water to rise up to Sturgeon Lake.
Beautiful place to hangout & spend a day..
Awesome lock. But be careful of the wind coming down the channel, it can make going into the lock from the pigeon lake side difficult.

Once again boats are in mint conditions and service were perfect, people are friendly, highly recommended. We rented 2 boats last summer, and 5 boats last month, nothing let me down. Once again thanks from Tom
This was the best transient mooring ever. The family that owns the place were so warm and helpful. The place is clean and well run. Definitely worth an overnight!
We rented a house boat for the first time from a neighboring company. We docked over night 2x with Happy Days. The owners : Jill & Frank were very friendly and knowledgeable. The grounds are neat and tidy with very good amenities. Our puppy loved playing with " Skipper ". We will definitely return here and highly recommend this place. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Staff are very friendly and helpful. The training was great and our trainer was very patient with us. We rented the 6 sleeper houseboat and we had 4 people in total on board. We found the space to be adequate for 4. If you had 6 people, 2 would have to sleep in the kitchen (which turns into a bed). I would say if you have 6 people, go for the 8 sleeper. The bedrooms are very small, just enough to walk into with the bed being against the wall on 3 sides. No closet but a few hooks to hang items. The bathroom is roomy but after a few nights, flushing it really smelled up the boat for a few mins. The houseboat itself was a little tired looking and we did see cobwebs in the doorways to the bedrooms. It seemed clean however but just old. Bring your own lawn chairs and table as the chairs provided are just small basic plastic chairs and there is no table for outside. All in all it was a great experience and we would do it again but probably upgrade to the bigger newer boats.
Facilities at Happy Days are the best. Frank, Jill and Eric are awesome. Very clean and well maintained.
We just returned from a 4 day trip on the Trent Severn with a houseboat from Happy Days and had a fantastic experience. Frank and Jill went above and beyond to make our trip enjoyable. I would recommend Happy Days to anyone looking to rent a houseboat.
They went above and beyond for us today and I’ll always stop there. Such friendly and caring staff.
Everyone here is super friendly unlike the marina across from it. Much prefer it on this side! Thanks guys!

Fun night! Owners are very sweet and great hosts.
Highly recommend. Locally owned and managed. Go for dinner and a show, or just the show. Very cozy theatre, even back row is only 8 rows deep.
Very enjoyable evening at dinner and the theater. Great food and highly entertaining theater. The only wrinkle was the extra charge for tea and coffee with the prix fixe menu.
The food is always so very delicious and the presentation is classy. Every production we have attended has been wonderful! Always a standing ovation!!!
Another great evening of dinner and theatre. Intimate theatre with all seats close to the action on stage. Often comedy or musical feel-good shows. Meals with options for special dietary needs are always delicious and attractive on the plate.
Very poor customer relations! If tixkets are only available by advance purchase and/or sold out, then that should be posted on website. Don't be advertising and having people show up for an event with young children, excited to see a show only to be turned away at the door. A simple fix but saw more than half a dozen very upset children and there was just no reason for this had the venue made an effort...
Always a pleasure and excellent theater experience. James and Sarah are the most wonderful hosts you ever care to meet!
Great menu! The meal before the show is well worth it. Try the sticky toffee pudding

I can't believe it took us so long to finally visit the Barn. The food is absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. The staff are professional and very approachable. The bar has one of the best Scotch selections I have seen in a very long time. This is an excellent place to visit for a meal. Next step !! We need to visit for a performance!!
I’ve been to two dinners and plays, one last year and one this year. Both were amazing and exceeding expectations. They are always so funny and such a pleasure to come to. I cannot wait to come to more! This year my boyfriend and I went to the murder mystery and dressed up for it and enjoyed the props for some extra fun too! Thank you for the show Globus Theatre!
Was at Shirley Valentine and the production was wonderful.. however the dinner was a big disappointment. Service was incredibly slow and the meal was cold. Will we return? For the theatre yes - for the dinner, not worth the money.
Wow! What a great night! We were first-time visitors and will definitely return for future shows. We booked because we wanted to see the show (Shirley Valentine) and naively thought of the dinner as just a nice added bonus. Boy, were we wrong about that! The food was exceptional; fresh, flavourful, and perfectly prepared and presented. The staff were unfailingly friendly, cheerful, and helpful. The setup of both the dining area and theatre was carefully planned, ensuring safe social distancing. The show will remain a wonderful memory; Sarah Quick IS Shirley Valentine! Sarah's performance was absolutely spellbinding. Thanks again for an exceptional evening. Wishing you much success in the future! You truly deserve it.
Went to a murder mystery dinner. It was a lot of fun! Good food and an interesting puzzle to solve.
Amazing locally run theatre with a wide variety of talent, drama and comedy! Very cool refurbished barn containing a performance space, restaurant and bar!
We just saw The Beaver Club and love it! A delightful way to spend an afternoon! I highly recommend.
Quaint barn. Staff were friendly, theater show was funny and it was a very relaxing afternoon! Loved it.

Had to restock my fridge after losing contents to the power outage for ten days. Strangs had just about everything I was looking for. They have marked Canadian products making it much easier to buy Canadian. The staff was friendly and busy restocking. Produce was well stocked. A bit trickier to find Canadian options but for now watch for Mexican or Spain produce. The meat selection was good. Prices were reasonable for this tourist town and today's economy.
today I bought 3 items, and 2 of the items were charged more at the checkout. This happens a lot here and always in favour of the store. a ham that was 10.99 and was charged 12.00. I saw it and told the cashier, she went to check it and came back agreeing, tried to change the price and couldn't, then went to another cashier who couldn't help her, went to a second cashier who eventually told her how to change it. Took about 5-6 minutes while I'm standing there and my ice cream is melting on the counter. Got to the car only to realize that the onions I bought were charged 8.99 instead of 8.49. Didn't bother to go back in for another 50 cents, but this happens a lot and I feel scammed and disappointed every time. I have to track every item when checking out, and demand correction on the spot every single time.
Their produce is fresher they’re baked goods are fresher there. They have a better selection than their competitor Foodland in town however, foodland is better for cheaper cuts of meat. another opinion is I find the staff are very helpful
Poor customer service. Prices are not great either, when compared to Peterbourough. Service - as usual, small plastic baskets are offered for shoppers who are there for a few items, and dont need a big cart. I went through shopping recently, but like most people, forgot my reusable bags in the car. So as I'm checking out, the cashier sees me loading everything back into the plastic basket, not saying a word. I carefully arrange my items in Tetris fashion, then not until giving me the total to pay, does she say that I can't take the basket out of the store to my car. Had plenty of time to speak up before that, but waits until I've loaded everything back in. But hey, they can SELL you MORE bags, while assuming you would steal their little plastic baskets. You can take their carts out, and we see them stolen by homeless people all the time, but not a cheap plastic basket that serves the same purpose. Carrying groceries. Instead, they assume that as I pay for over $100 in groceries, that I'm going to steal this basket. Instead of a large prominent sign saying baskets can't go outside, or simply not offering baskets and having folks use carts, they decide to assume their community members are thieves. The cashier could've spoken up as I was loading items. Or could have made an exception to allow me to take my items to the car. Or, they could've even asked one of the stock boys/girls to help carry the groceries out to the car. Many options that would've shown good customer service, but chose none.
Jason Meat manager and all the staff are always very helpful and very pleasant to shop at. Good pricing, better service, our got to place in CKL
Not a huge store but doesn't have to be. The layout is great. Not a great supply of everything so buy two of each, lol. The young staff are friendly and eager to take your money at the cash. Shop till you drop, have fun!
Purchasing Ground Beef, Sour Cream and Popcorn Kettle Chips. Meat department was well stocked, including delicious mouth-watering 4-packs of steak. We have purchased in the past on several occasions and never been disappointed. The staff were friendly, though their age is reflected in their conversations at checkout. One female employee spoke with us regarding an event the store was promoting, which included a local painter. Overall it was a good experience.
As it is my local grocery store, I shop there often. Bit also often I'm disappointed because they don't have a product that I'm looking for. Today is was A1 Steak sauce. They only sell HP and was informed they don't carry A1. Why not???? It's just as popular as HP. Why do you want your customers to go to Foodland? They stock both! Sometimes your store sucks!!

Great memories on the course today at the Members and Guests Tournament! Don and I had an amazing time — the atmosphere was welcoming and fun. Big thanks to Ann, Tom, Jennifer, Brody and Bogey for the great job they do. Their efforts really shine and make the course such a great place to be. Just a small thought: removing a few lower branches on the evergreens and using mulch underneath might help improve pace of play. Would also help get rid of some of the mulch piles . All in all, a fantastic day. We’re already looking forward to the next one! Don and Leanne Hall
Tom the marshal is like that guy most of us has worked with. The beta guy that is controlled at home so he goes to work to bully others. His arrogance is obvious in his responses to poor reviews. Everyone else is the problem, right Tom? Time to have a long look into the mirror Tom. We had the same experience as many others, where Tom follows you around the course, spying on you like a creep. One person in our group even said "this guy is going to be a problem" before we even paid to play. We just wanted to have fun, not hurting anyone, but Tom's attitude wrecked that. We will never return to this course, as fun is not allowed there. I highly suggest anyone to look into any other golf course and avoid this one.
Don’t listen to the good reviews. The man that runs this place enjoys seeing people miserable. I’m tired of hearing people complain about you and I haven’t golfed in 4 years! The most entitled and egotistical person I’ve met in all my 67 years alive. The reason I say this you ask? Well, If you couldn’t see below, every critical comment left in the reviews is met with attitude, blaming and denial. That proves my point already. Totally Tom, every 1 star is wrong and you’re the one that’s right. That definitely how the world works. Learn some humbleness, you really need it.
Really disappointing experience. Was really excited to golf here but was very let down. The Marshall, Tom, was rushing our group from the very beginning and kept following us and watching as we played. He had an attitude and seemed pissed off at us because we were beginners. Unless you are a pro at golf, don’t golf here.
Dont waste your time. Course is not in good condition. If you want to be told to speed up constantly with no one behind you and blue shirt marshall follows you around and watches you like a child then this is the place for you.
Went a few weeks back and never got around to review this place. Worst experience I have ever had golfing!! Absolutely horrible conditions on the fairways and Tom, the owner was so unprofessional and downright rude to my daughters. I will NEVER be back and I will tell everybody in the area to stay far far away!
Wasn't sure what to expect but the course was in great condition for a 30 dollar 9 hole. Also the starter came around and gave out free bottles of water on a hot day so 5/5 👍
I’m a beginner and love this course. Staff has always been super friendly.

Saw a concert there and had a look at some original art. First time there and I will definitely be back. We're planning on goo g this weekend! With no help from any level of government those little gem is preserving a heritage building and a lot of our local history. We need to support our local museums.
The sweetest little museum I've Ever been too. Even better than the ROM in my opinion in terms of just how the setup is. Loved the home like atmosphere. The staff was extremely friendly and kind and clearly took pride in their work there. The exhibits were so cool and the library was just exceptional. One of the paintings there even feels like shes alive in the room. Her eyes follow you! So cool

I was looking for a Z9 O’Brien front water ski binding. I called the 1-800 number. The person I spoke with was excellent and within 5 minutes I had my order placed. I received the shipment (free delivery on over $100 orders) arrive in about 24 hours. I have been looking over a year for some place in Canada for this since ordering from the US is a totally last resort. Thanks again Buckeye Surf.
Amazing little gem hidden. i bought my first hurley shirt here almost 13 years ago. The workers are amazing, educated and love a good chat and hear from where your coming from.
Good selection of watersports gear. Nice clothing too. Staff were easy to talk with and very helpful during our visit. Great stuff!
Excellent experience with Buckeye Surf. Their online prices were significantly lower than other Canadian and US retailers for wakeboards and wakeboard packages and I got an additional 20% off the item I ordered! One of the items I ordered was out of stock, and I was notified by Taylor right away about replacing it with an equivalent item or getting a full refund for that item. Their site also mistakenly offered me free delivery, however I am in a very rural area, so this was an error on their website, but Taylor didn't want me to have to pay the $60 shipping, so he offered to have it shipped to the postal outlet a minute from my location, which I was more than fine with. My items were shipped out the same day they were ordered. Overall a very good experience with this company and excellent customer service delivered by Taylor. I'm happy I was able to support a Canadian company and will definitely be shopping here again! Thanks for great service!
Best prices period! I have looked everywhere from coast to coast in north America and these guys are the best. I have never been to the store but the online is awesome and the service is great. I call first and the guys are stellar. Best deals for slaloms and equipment out there. Very impressed.
Picked up my boat rental here and could not have been happier. The staff was amazing and took the time to go over everything in the boat and answer any questions. I had never boated on this lake so they showed me how to navigate back to the cottage and hazards to watch out for. They even took a picture of me and the family on the boat and sent it to me. From checking in to bringing back the boat my experience was awesome. I will definitely rent my boats here when I come back. Thank you Buckeye Surf Staff.
Fantastic customer service, and great people. They were very accommodating to find us a surfboard that worked with our boat. We love the Phase 5 Diamond that we ended up with; but dealing with a family business that was ready to bend over backwards for us was the best part of our buying experience. Thanks!!!.
Great shop for surf and snow clothing and gear. Friendly helpful staff. Great selection. Prices for gear are at market value but the clothing prices are a bit high compared to Toronto or online. I guess that's the price of convienence in a small town and I'm usually willing to pay if I underpack for a cottage trip.

Had an awesome experience from Taylor and the team at Buckeye Rentals. The boat was modern, clean and spacious. Taylor fitted the kids with life vests and gave us helpful tips navigating Pigeon Lake. Their shop has everything you need should you forget something. Most definitely recommend and certainly will come back to them next time I'm looking for a boat. Oh and your pets are welcome too!
Rented 2 jet skis + fishing boat for week. Great service and high quality equipment. Taylor helped my family several times as we were inexperienced and whole team was great.
We rented a pontoon boat from Buckeye Rentals and were impressed with the level of customer service. Near the end of our day, we ran into a minor mechanical issue. The staff were incredibly apologetic and came out on a jet ski to see if they could fix the problem. When it couldn’t be resolved on the spot, they rode alongside us the rest of the way to make sure we didn’t run into any further issues. We had our parents with us and our 15-month-old daughter, so that extra level of care and attention gave us huge peace of mind. I would absolutely recommend Buckeye Rentals! You can relax knowing that, while you hope nothing goes wrong, if it does, they’ll do everything they can to make it right. Great service from start to finish!
My husband and I just rented a pontoon for nine great days on the Kawartha lakes, where we're local, but we don't have our own boat, so we rent, which is a very cost-effective way to travel the waters when the urge arises. Anyway, the boat was in excellent condition and handled very well. Taylor, his dad and their excellent crew were efficient and organized throughout the process. They were beyond professional, but gracious and friendly at the same time. Great place to rent a boat, great guys to call our neighbours. We're already booked for another 10 days next summer!
Rented a Jetski from the location for the day. Met Dave (father) and Taylor (one of his sons) both were excellent to deal with and Dave has some great stories to share. Taylor and Jack did the walk around and safety with us and I found them both to be very professional and courteous! End of the day went great with a quick walk around and we were on our way. Highly recommend for your on the water needs!
We rented a pontoon boat from Buckeye Rentals this past weekend. Awesome and smooth experience. The day started off rainy but the cover made sure we still enjoyed ourselves. It was very roomy and comfortable. Taylor and all the staff were very helpful.
We had guests in town from out west so we booked the 23 foot pontoon boat for a day out on the water and it couldn't have went any better. They texted 30 minutes before our departure to confirm our arrival and were waiting for us at the launch. We were in the boat and on the way in no time. The boat was clean, quiet and easy to navigate the lakes and locks. They supplied the life jackets and everything else to make it a safe and fun day. At the end of day the driver texted to confirm our arrival time and once again was waiting for us at the launch. We were thoroughly impressed with the professional staff at Buckeye.
10/10 would highly recommend Buckeye Rentals if you want to fish on pigeon lake. Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about their operations and the lake itself. Was given clear instructions on how to operate the boat as well as which areas to steer clear of due to rocks. They also presented me with a map of the lake and pointed out some great fishing spots. I ended up catching my first muskie that day and couldn't be happier. Already booked a second trip with them and will likely book a third to hunt down a monster fall muskie. Thank you Buckeye Rentals!
