Visited the Warship Museum (INS Chapal) in Karwar – a unique experience inside a real Navy ship. You can explore cabins, weapons and get a feel of naval life. The view from the deck, especially near sunset, is beautiful.
It’s a great place to visit. It’s a very small theme based museum. It’s a navy ship INS Chapal and a cargo plane. Only navy ship is converted into museum where you can go inside seeing all the inner things like how to cabins were made, how the staff operated, how the places and engines are designed and assembled. Everything being kept in its original form that’s why it became rotten. But worth visiting. It’s lies somewhere between Gokarna and Goa route(may be I am not correct) Entry fees only 20rs per person. Must visit once.
"Must-visit destination for naval enthusiasts and history buffs! INS Chapal (K94) Warship & Aircraft in Karwar is a unique museum showcasing India's naval heritage. The decommissioned warship and aircraft on display are impressive and provide a glimpse into the country's maritime history. We were thoroughly impressed by the museum's exhibits, which included artifacts, photographs, and interactive displays. The staff was knowledgeable and eager to share insights into the ship's history and operations. A visit to INS Chapal is a great way to learn about India's naval history and appreciate the sacrifices of our brave sailors. Highly recommend this museum to anyone interested in naval history, technology, and patriotism.
The Warship & Aircraft museum at the Karwar beach is a special thing. We are allowed to get the glimpse of a decommissioned missile launcher ship of Indian Navy, the INS Chapal. Along with that the anti submarine aircraft Tuplev T-142M is also on display. After watching the amazing machines from inside and outside, one is filled with pride about the skills and hardwork that our soldiers put in for our safety. Photography is allowed on the deck and inside the ship but not inside the plane. AC are installed inside to make our experience more comfortable. A must watch if you go to Karwar. ₹ 50 are charged as ticket fee per person. The museum is open daily from 9.30 to 12.30 and then from 14.00 to 17.00
Located less than a km from Rabindranath Tagore beach, this warship museum uncovers the rich legacy of the Indian Navy. A great place especially to those who love to experience and pay attention to tiny details from the structure to a unique glimpse into life at sea. Entry fee is ₹15 and please ensure you carry change with you. Online payment was not accepted when I visited so please ensure you have cash to avoid unnecessary hassle.
It's a wonderful experience to see this 2 different war heroes. The complex wiring and control rooms on the ship and jet reveal intense engineering effort. A truly powerful and unforgettable visit. The cockpit view is amazing. Highly recommended.!
**A Memorable Family Visit to INS Chapal (K94)** *Visited: February 2023* We visited the INS Chapal Warship Museum in Karwar in February two years ago it was an unforgettable experience for all of us. The warship, now turned into a museum, gave us a deep glimpse into the Indian Navy’s proud history. My son was absolutely fascinated — he read *every single piece* of information displayed on the ship and asked so many thoughtful questions. It made me so happy to see his curiosity and interest in our country’s defense forces. The ship is well laid out, and we could walk through the control room, crew cabins, and missile display area. The mannequins dressed as officers added a realistic touch, and the short documentary played onboard was quite informative. Though parts of the ship could use a little maintenance, the overall experience was patriotic, educational, and very special for our family. A must-visit if you’re in or around Karwar — especially with children! On our way back home, we made an impromptu stop at the Naval Aviation Museum in Goa, and it was the perfect continuation of our naval-themed trip. My son was absolutely thrilled there too — especially with the twin-rotor helicopter (the two-fan one, as he called it). He couldn’t stop staring at it and was full of questions about how it flies. The museum had a great outdoor display of aircraft, and it really sparked his imagination. It felt like the perfect ending to a journey filled with history, curiosity, and admiration for our armed forces.
This is the real experience of a naval Air craft. Mr Naik is an absolute gem of a person who patiently transforms the "visit" to an "experience". This experience is truly transcendental. The ticket prices at 50 are probably the best steal of the millennium for the experience in the real aircraft. Tempering expectations, the cockpit access is blocked as the aircrafts's real switch gear controls the lights and air conditioning (yes retrofitted for comfort) and people just figitting with controls plunge others into total darkness. Also the back gunner area is too narrow for anyone and is blocked to prevent head banging incidents. Sheerly being there increases respect for the armed forces multi fold due to the sheet complexity and arduous conditions our soldiers have to bear to secure our lives.

Nice beach. No amenities. Baywatchers are there for people's safety. Plenty of parking available.
Karwar Beach used to feel like an everyday childhood escape, but now it’s littered with garbage and surrounded by mess. The play area also needs serious attention, with rusted and damaged equipment in need of repair and improvement.
The beach is naturally serene and calm. Not crowded and can walk peacefully. It's dark sanded and has a rustic look. Landscapes are awesome with hills in background. It's just a few minutes detour from NH66 towards Mangalore side. Local government really need to work on the cleanliness side and need to build more facilities and a good toilet. Didn't find any good food stall or restaurant closeby. Dogs and cows wandering in the beach even at late night. Lot of littering all around the beach. Parking space is ample.
One of the best beaches I have ever visited (across the world) …. Morning and evening walks here were amazing ..hardly any crowd and a clean beach
Please maintain the cleanliness of this beautiful beach with an amazing view locked by hills.
One of the very neat and clean beach of karnataka which is situated in karwar Many water activities are available but pricing wise I thought is on the higher side compared to others places but the sunset view is marvellous
Clean and peaceful beach. The Naval war museum is also located on its beach.

A year ago, during my return from a college trip to Goa, we stopped by this incredible beach. It’s one of the cleanest beaches I’ve ever seen, with minimal crowds, making it a perfect spot to rest and unwind for a while. Although I didn’t personally try it, my classmates mentioned there’s a nearby hotel that serves good food. I’ll share some photos of the beach so you can get an idea and plan accordingly. As for activities, I didn’t notice any, like motorboats or other water sports, during my visit.

This is private resort. Worth stay a day or two. It has loads of water sports activity and a trail to explore. At night a light house is visible. You need to take a boat from Karwar . The journey itself is very scenic. The view from most of the cottages is amazing. You will be mesmerised by the natural beauty and history of island.
It's a heaven on Earth. Splendid place. Very good landscape. All the people are very friendly and co- operative especially the restaurant staff. I enjoyed my company with these people. It felt just like home in heaven
Nice beach with temple, once you can go there.
Situated in arabian ocean best i island karwar Couple friendly rooms better and quick service amazing nights truly enjoyable
Long before this beach name became known as Cintacor.. A Amazing Tortoise Shaped island in Arabian Sea.. Lord Narasimha Temple is Located on this Island.. {considered to be a witness to the wrath of Bhagwan Vishnu’s fourth avatar, Narasimha..} It's a silent one beach.. A shrine to Kurumagad’s history..: Cintacor Island is believed to be home to the historical remnants of a Chola Dynasty fort. Due to its geography, Kurumgad and its surrounding islands served as the perfect vantage point to warn kingdoms of any incoming naval attacks. Making it the perfect spot to build a strong fortress. This is why these ruins could very well belong to the Chola Dynasty. Yet, some locals believe that this was built by Maratha rulers. Certain accounts point to it being built by a Sodhe Dynasty ruler, who didn't wish to annex his territory to Hyder Ali, and instead sought the protection of the Portuguese. With the varying accounts that exist it becomes quite clear that though the origin of the fort may be murky, its walls and the island have borne witness to a part of South India’s history, traces of which still remain if one looks for it. Long before humans inhabited this island, Kurumgad was home to a variety of flora and fauna, the fossilised remains of which can still be found. 300 million years of natural history. Luckily, the island remained largely uninhabited allowing a beautiful ecosystem to thrive over time, undisturbed even with an island resort in its midst. The beauty of Cintacor is that though its soil still holds the echoes of the past, it is very well intertwined with its present. For your next visit to Cintacor, you too can catch a glimpse of the island’s history as you walk around its nature trails. .
One of the best place to visit...👌
Awesome place to visit when in Karwar.

We stayed here at JLR resort for 2N in Dec end and we were 2 families and we really enjoyed our stay, we got room 12 as well as 11 and both these rooms have great view, we called it postcard view 👌. It is very unique as it is situated within a fort, everything is very rustic and offers tranquility and breathtaking views, suitable place to unwind and relax, all the activities are linked with Devbagh resort, have written a review separately for that too. Would highly recommend this place too !!
It's a resort within the fort walls. We reached the resort after asking a few locals for Sadashivagada Qilla. It's on the opposite bank from Kali River Garden. Although the quick drive/ walk up the hill is enjoyable. If you have limited time to spend in Karwar, I will recommend to give this place a miss.
Very good beach view from the resort also can see the traffic crossing the bridge. Just sit and relax to enjoy the view. Only draw back is, have to take steps to reach the place for stay and also for doing any beach activity have to travel little bit.Feel free to get in touch, more than happy to guide.
Excellent stay. Scenery, lunch, dinner, evening snacks, bonfire all arrangements are good. Staff is caring. You can also travel and stay to their beach resort till 6 pm. Parking is available. Overall wonderful stay.
Forget the fort.. the majestic view of mighty river Kali joining the Arabian sea is a feast for eyes especially during sunset. We have spent almost 2 hrs just watching the river and sea. U ll have ample space to sit. The breeze, the view everything is wonderful.
The fort has been updated into resort and you can't expect a fort to be in place. There are few remains of fort. The view from top was breathing taking, apart from that nothing else.
Windy. Dont bother visiting in Monsoons. The views get blocked from 2 sides. The view is alright, nothing extraordinary. The entrance is from the Temple below. Although a new route is being build up leading to the fort's entrance.
Nice place to visit. U can reach there by bike or car till temeple situated below fort, from there it's small trek to fort u can see the entrance after 5min walk nothing much has left of fort but The veiw from top is mesmerizing veiwing devbaug beach, kodibaug and Kali river bridge.

The place is well maintained & has lifelike statues speaking of their culture. It has signboards which makes it easier for visitors to read & get a better understanding of each scene shown. A must visit ✨
Visitors say this amusement park features lifelike rock sculptures depicting tribal culture, with a beach nearby for stunning views. They like that it's a great place to learn about the region's history and take photos.
"The Rock Garden of Karwar City is a hidden gem! This beautifully landscaped garden is a perfect blend of nature and art, featuring stunning rock formations, vibrant flowers, and serene water features. We spent a relaxing afternoon strolling through the garden, taking in the sights and sounds of nature. The garden is well-maintained, clean, and peaceful, making it an ideal spot for a family picnic or a quiet moment of contemplation. Highly recommend the Rock Garden for a tranquil and rejuvenating experience.
The town of Karwar has some special tourist attractions. One of them is the Rock Garden near the beach. It is situated in an area with some large trees. As the name suggests, there are some abstract rock sculptures in the garden. But the main attraction is the life sized statues of different communities of this area, in their traditional attire, doing daily chores around their homes. It seems like the ancient history has come alive after watching these figures. It is a nice spot to spend your evening. There is a 20 Rupees ticket for the garden. It is open till 6.30 in the evening.
Rock Garden is a lovely spot with cool rock sculptures showing local tribal life, right by the beach. It’s a great place to explore in the evening for photos and a relaxing time! 😊
Dedicated to Konkani / Kannad culture, art and language ,its a small garden kind of setting. depicting Historical and cultural landscape this place is a good place to visit with family and kids.
Just wow!!! From outside it looked not so great But the statues was so amazingly made. Worth entering this place
The tickets cost around 40 each. The overall area is not so big, and can be covered within 30 min. There is nothing much to watch other than the figures and greenery. You can watch the beach from there which looks amazing during sunset.

Best way to experience the Kali river confluence with Arabian sea... Park your car at Kali River Garden and take a speed boat to the confluence ... The service is great and safe... The garden is small but neatly maintained... Must visit - highly recommend
There is nothing, which you can call garden. Sitting arrangement is ther in one corner of the park, so you can spend some time beholding the view of back waters. Boating facility is there. Buy the tickets at entrance for boat ride.
Serene escape in Karwar! Kali River Garden is a hidden gem, perfect for nature lovers and those seeking relaxation. Lush greenery, scenic views of the Kali River, and peaceful ambiance make it an ideal spot for picnics, strolls, or simply unwinding. Well-maintained, clean, and picturesque - a must-visit destination in Karwar!
Not a place for visiting with expectations. Very basic garden with boating facility, where the speedboat charges are Rs 200 per head for a 4 minute ride. The larger boat ride opens in October(post monsoon).
A small park by the banks of the river Kali providing some great views of the river. The place has a small cafeteria providing tea, coffee and snacks. There is a play area for children and few benches to sit and enjoy the view. The place also provides water rides and ride to the Kali temple on an island (provided there are enough people to fill and pay for the boat ride).
Such a wonderful landscape and lush greenery with the beautiful view of the Kali river😍They even offer tent like rooms and bonfire facilities🪵 besides i also saw boat rides and other fishing activities 🎣 Do visit the place if you are in Karwar
It was an amazing stay at Kali River Garden. The staff were professional and humble, and the service was truly top-class. Our room was neat and clean, adding to the comfort of our stay. The highlight was definitely the boat ride, located at the southeast quadrant of the riverbank near the Kali Bridge — an unforgettable experience! The food was absolutely scrumptious, and my kids had a great time at the playground. Overall, a perfect blend of relaxation, fun, and hospitality. Highly recommended!

Best place and awesome people. Loved this place. It is around 5km far from Karwar city and you need to walk till the village as the road condition is very poor. It's a steep uphill way to walk. We took the help of a local person called Ravi Gowda who helped us in reaching the peak. He arranged a place to stay in Gudde Halli village itself. Village people are soo humble and helpful who will help you out. View from the peak is just awesome and breath taking. Must visit place.
Best for one day trekking, view was awesome in the top. Can see beach, naval base and hills in one place . But one should care there own water bottle and food till certain point.. Pls be careful from snakes. Every turning point indicating by bottle who don't missing you from trekk
Wow Place. The treks starts from Karwar town.. High Church Road. And the muddy trails leads to beautiful jungle and gudehalli village. The trek is lengthy and humid weather makes it more humid. Good Views of Karwar town and sea shore of Karwar.
About 8 kms from Maruti temple, karwar. The actual trek starts 2 to 3 kms into the trail, you have an option to take the 2 wheeler track or take the actual trekking path which is shorter upto the village, where you can take a break. The path after this is through the jungle and some rock climbing until you reach the big rock on the top, once you reach there the view is beautiful and weather is cooler. Make sure to start early in the morning to avoid the heat and carry plenty of drinking water and some fruit for energy and hydration. The whole return journey takes around 6 to 7 hours with a few rest stops. It is worth visting this place.
Trek was moderate, although you should keep in mind to travel with a local guide who has knowledge around the mountain because at north side the hill is covered with dense trees and one can get lost if he's not having idea about where he's heading. Start your trek early in morning because in afternoon it gets too hot to trek in mountain. Be cautious when trekking in rainy season as the path is all muddy and steep and it can get very slippery so one should be prepared. Also don't trek after sunset because of danger by wild animals out there. The trek gives a full view of karwar city.
Awesome place to visit with old buddies to spend good time awesome view once you reach the top.the villagers welcome you warmheartedly and provide basic things if asked
Best place from trek in karwar town Had to walk around 2hrs till Guddehalli village then 30-40 minutes of step walk to reach mountain top Mesmerizing view from top, you can see the whole karwar town, baitkul town. Now the trail is better mid size suv goes easily.
Place for Tracking in karwar. Best place to visit. The view is best. It took nearly 1.30 to 2 hours to climb to reach village, then 1hour to reach the hill peak. Very safe and good nature. Full road covered with trees so it's very helpful to climb. Best month for tracking is November to February. And best time as per my suggestion is 7 to 7.30am . We went with 30 people's enjoyed alot. Villagers are very friendly. There is also housing facility. You can stay there by booking it. Only one shop is there. Chips, cookies you will get. Water is available. Do visit once It will be a good experience.
